Searching for Shelter

(Sin City Uniforms 06)
by

Morticia Knight

Teen shelter volunteer Rich searches for love until Diego, from LVMPD Search and Rescue, finds him.

After declaring his love life officially dead, Rich wonders if maybe he should stick with his shifter book boyfriends instead. It’s not as if he has much free time to date anyway. Between working long hours at a coffee shop, guarding his sodas from his hygienically challenged roommates, and running the programming at the Vegas LGBTQ teen shelter he founded – how could there ever be space for love in his life?

Diego Espinoza enjoys taking his downtime from working Search and Rescue, at the Lucky Cup coffee shop. He can set up his laptop, peruse good sport climbing spots and observe the blond barista he’s been pining over for a while. He imagines that the pretty boy has more offers than he knows what to do with, so it takes Diego time to work up the nerve to approach him.

Rich isn’t so sure about the rough looking Diego – even if he’s always thought he was hot – but once he decides to gives Diego a chance, there’s an immediate heat and connection that takes him by surprise. As they learn more about each other and try to find the way to a future together, strange and scary things start to happen.

It isn’t until Rich is injured in a bizarre accident that it becomes clear that there’s someone out there who not only doesn’t want Rich to find love – they want him dead.

Review: I’ve wanted this story for a while now, being a fan of the series and having read every book, I see Rich in the background and have eagerly waited for his time to come. Rich may be young, but he has a good head on his shoulders. He volunteers constantly at the shelter, takes classes at the local college and works full-time at the Lucky Cup Coffee Shop.

His schedule doesn’t leave much time for dating but when he does, one disastrous date after another leads Rich to consider swearing off men for a while. That is until the hot guy that Rich can’t help but notice almost daily at the Coffee Shop finally asks him out.

Diego loves his job as part of the Search and Rescue unit for LVMPD being the outdoors type of guy. He even spends his off time hiking and climbing, mostly because he doesn’t have a man in his life. Diego has a sour taste in his mouth as well from past relationships, but there is something about the beautiful blonde at the Coffee Shop that has not only caught Diego’s eyes, he makes Diego want so much more than a one night stand.

These two definitely move fast, but it’s the attention to details that made their instant connection okay with me. Diego goes out of his way to woo Rich. Compliments, dates, conversation, and oh boy can the man kiss! Rich can’t breathe, much less think, when Diego lays his lips on him. I think what I enjoyed most about the relationship between these two was their conversations.

Diego especially always paid attention to everything Rich said, which was new to Rich and took some getting used to, but the way they were able to confide in each other from the start, to be a shoulder for each other when they had a bad day. This happened to them both in the story. I just loved that the relationship wasn’t all about sex. That being said, the sex was fantastic! Passionate, playful, tender and rough. When these two went at it I had to wipe the steam off my kindle.

Fast paced and completely engaging with a little bit of suspense for good measure. If you are a fan of the series, Knight’s work, men in uniforms, or just a hopeless romantic… you’ll love this book too.

possibilities_exlarge_PNG-180x288‘Possibilities’ by T.A. Chase

When Dixon and Carson meet during a hurricane, neither imagined that moment would be the beginning of a new relationship.

Dixon White owns Billy’s Diner in Brevard County, Florida—right down the road from Patrick Air Force Base. He serves a lot of the servicemen and their families who live and work on the base and does it in honor of his brother who served as a SEAL until a motorcycle accident ended his life. When Dixon finds himself stuck in a broken down car just as a hurricane hits the area, he’s not sure how’s he going to get home.

Master Chief Sergeant Carson LaSalle is headed to the base when he drives by Billy’s Diner. He sees Dixon’s car there and stops, checking to see if everything is okay. He takes Dixon home, but can’t stop thinking about him.

After the hurricane blows through, both men meet again and the sparks fly. Possibilities open up for them to have a chance at finding love. They just have to be willing to try.

Tams ♥♥♥♥4 Heart review:
Carson LaSalle has had his eye on Dixon White since the day he got stationed at Patrick Air Force Base. When a storm hits and Dixon’s car breaks down, Carson finally has a reason to not only spend some time with Dixon, but to finally ask him out on a date. The two hit it off and soon sparks fly.

There was a lot of meat to this short story. Chase gives the reader a brief glimpse into Dixon’s life, his past, and why he owns the diner and makes it his mission to take care of others. Carson was just the perfect addition for him, a man who would be proud to stand by his side.

I would read a full length story for these two, would be nice to get a glimpse into Carson’s background.

lonelyheartsandyellowribbons_exlarge_PNG-180x288‘Lonely Hearts and Yellow Ribbons’ by Stephani Hecht

Being apart from the one you love is the hardest thing to do, until you get them back to find they’ve changed…

PJ Ross Ervin is part of an elite force of rescue men from the Air Force. Only the best of the best make it through the program and get to wear the maroon beret. As such, he is proud of what he does and is happy to serve his country. The one drawback is that it takes him away from his long-time lover, Aden. Thankfully Ross’ deployment is over and he’s coming home.

Aden is excited to see Ross. But he can’t help but notice that his partner is having trouble adjusting back into the civilian world. Plus, there is the looming danger that Ross could be deployed again at any time. Will Ross have to leave to serve his county once more? And if so, can the pair survive the separation yet again?

Tams ♥♥♥3 Heart review:
Ross and Aden have been together long enough that Aden knows what to expect from Ross’s career as a military man. When Ross comes home on leave, they use their time wisely to get reacquainted with one another. But this time Aden notices that Ross is having trouble leaving the job at the door. With another deployment looming, Aden worries for Ross more than ever, but supports his man regardless.

My favorite things about this short story were the yellow ribbons first off. As a former military wife and a military brat, I can appreciate that little addition. When Ross opened the cabinet and found the spools of ribbon, I smiled, that was perfect. And then Aden finally being accepted to the Wives group, which needs a new name by the way with the influx of same-sex military couplings.

Cute story though.

venetianskies_exlarge_PNG-180x288‘Venetian Skies’ by Morticia Knight

No one wants to lose a love that’s meant to be. Air Force test pilot, Chris Pierce, returns to Italy to discover that second chances are the sweetest.

They had a love that was the real thing, but Chris, an Air Force test pilot, returns to Aviano Air Base in Italy to discover that the only man he’s ever loved is still there. Yet wasn’t that why artist Brandon had dumped him? Because he didn’t want to be tied down to one place or one person?

Brandon made a huge mistake. It wasn’t until Chris transferred out of the local military base that he realizes what they had together was the real thing. Even though he’s never settled in one place for very long, he couldn’t bear to leave the town of Aviano where he and Chris were so happy together.

Chris unexpectedly returns and Brandon is devastated when Chris rejects him out of anger. Can’t Chris see how much Brandon has changed in the two years they’ve been apart?

Second chances are the sweetest and love that’s meant to be doesn’t die. But when a MiG fighter jet gone rogue shoots Chris down, will their second chance be taken away forever?

Tams ♥♥♥♥♥5 Heart review:
Chris is an Air Force pilot returning to the base he left when his former lover broke his heart. Since Brandon was such a free spirit that refused to be tied down, Chris is certain his ex is long gone from Aviano. His first night out at their old favorite haunt, Chris runs into Brandon. Well, more like Brandon is searching for Chris. With the pain of the past still fresh in Chris’s heart, can Brandon convince him he was wrong, to give them another shot at happiness?

Okay, I need a full novel for this one. I would love to see where Chris and Brandon started, where everything went wrong and then beyond this short story to the chaotic future I’m certain they have. What Knight delivered with Venetian Skies was a synopsis of a story that only made me thirsty for more.

Short, Sexy and Steamy!

searchandrescue_exlarge_PNG-180x288‘Search and Rescue’ by Jenna Byrnes

Two parajumpers freefall into a stealthy relationship before considering how quickly it might come crashing to an end.

Airman First Class Matthew Billings has almost completed a grueling two-year training program on his way to becoming a Pararescueman in the Air Force Special Operations Unit. On a mission to rescue a child lost in the Pecos Wilderness of New Mexico, he meets Master Sergeant Drake Bogart, a man who is as infuriating as he is handsome.

When Matt spots the child and Drake gets the credit, sparks fly, in more ways than one. But with graduation just a few days away, is their fledgling relationship over before it even gets started?

Tams ♥♥♥3 Heart review:
This short story has potential to be an enemies to lovers type of story. Matthew Billings is climbing the ranks as a Pararescueman and holding his own, to spite Drake Bogart taking all the credit.

When Drake goes against Matthew’s preconceived notions and not only admits his attraction to the Matthew, he takes him home and seduces him, it looks like the perfect friends with benefits relationship might be forming. Until Drake says something stupid again.

This story had potential, but I had trouble liking Drake. He came across as cocky and arrogant and even when he apologized, I just never warmed to the character. There were some sexy times and I liked that Matthew stood his ground with the more dominant Sergeant.

I think this one definitely needs to be a full story so things can be elaborated and expanded on.

livefortheday_exlarge_PNG-180x288‘Live for the Day’ by Sarah Masters

Loving your best friend is easy. Telling him you do…well, that’s the hard part.

Michael and Steven grew up together—just them, no girls allowed. They’d always planned to join the military, but when it came time to sign up, Michael couldn’t do it. For years, Michael has worried every time Steven is out in the desert, risking his life to serve and protect. He dreads the day Steven won’t come home.

Steven has been through a dreadful ordeal on duty, and while in the hospital, he’s had time to think about what’s important in life. He misses Michael—needs to get back home to be with him—and he has something he wishes to say, something he’s held inside as far back as he can remember…

When the two men reunite, revelations are the name of the game. There is no question they’ve always loved each other, but now that they have the chance to express that love, will they?

Tams ♥♥♥♥♥5 Heart review:
The way this particular story started reminded me of old Hollywood love stories. Seemingly unrequited love. Seeing your love coming toward you, certain it’s a dream or a mirage, and yet, he is real.

Michael is sitting in his favorite café missing his best friend Steven something fierce, wishing he were there so Michael could finally be honest with him about how he feels when suddenly, and Steven is there. Between the long absences that are driving Michael insane with worry, and Steven being hurt during his last deployment, both men are done dancing around the truth.

Oh but I love this story the best of them all. I could see Michael sitting in the café, staring out the window, longing for Steven to ride in on a white horse, and then they could ride off into the sunset together. Though it was far removed from that that was the feel of the story. Once these two were finally honest about their feelings, things got a little steamy.

This is another one I’d love to read going back and giving more details of their friendship and the years of them growing closer even if they were apart, then go forward and show their happy life together.

Le Sigh.

Sometimes the best laid plans are meant to be thrown way off course.

Hunter planned his life very well. He’s got his position in the Air National Guard, the family he’s always wanted and a life most people would love to have. Except he’s not happy. His friends all know his truths, but them knowing about his sexuality and him admitting it are two different things. Thankfully Ryder—his best friend—has always got his back.

Ryder has loved Hunter since they were in school. He wants to have more than Hunter’s back—he wants everything. Forcing his Guardsman to come out as a gay man wasn’t on his agenda, but Ryder isn’t above a bit of gentle nudging.

Will the things Hunter can’t control be his undoing, or will he accept who he is as well as the love he’s craved all of his life?

Tams ♥♥♥3 Hearts review:
This one was a little odd for me. Ryder and Hunter have been best friends forever, and that is about how long Ryder has been in love with Hunter. He is respectful and keeps his distance, hiding his true feelings while Hunter tries to convince everyone, including himself, that he is straight. When they finally face their feelings, it seems like a HEA is in the works. Not so fast… both men teeter back and forth to the extent that I almost got whiplash.

I liked that Hunter was adamant that he remain true to the commitment he made to those two little girls, but the I love you too, wait… I have to take care of the girls. I want you too… wait, I can’t come out. Ryder understands and doesn’t push. Then when Hunter changes his mind and wants to come out and be true, Ryder starts pushing Hunter away.

There was potential here, and a little bit of angst would have been fine, just too angsty for my taste.

Building Bonds

(Kiss of Leather 01)
by

Morticia Knight

Kyle’s a natural sub who builds dungeon furniture, yet has no interest in BDSM. It takes a hunky Dom to show him just what he’s been missing.

After Kyle’s partner of five years leaves him for another man on the night of their housewarming party, the shy, early-thirties carpenter needs to do a major reassessment of his life in addition to raising some serious cash. With no one to help him pay the lease on his Los Angeles condo, he worries how he’ll survive. His best friend sets up a meeting with one of the Doms and partners at Kiss of Leather, a gay BDSM club being built as a premier destination for those who want the best of the best.

Master Gavin not only wants the best—he demands it. When he meets Kyle, he assumes that part of the builder’s reticence to share anything personal with him must be due to his experiences with an abusive former Master. Not one to back down from a challenge, Gavin determines to break through the walls surrounding the beautiful man he can’t get out of his mind. He’s hopeful that once he convinces Kyle to sign an initial contract, Kyle might be the first sub to open up his heart.

Misunderstandings and accusations almost destroy everything between them before they have a real chance to begin. However, the true obstacle becomes not only whether Kyle will embrace BDSM as a lifestyle, but also whether he can handle a full-time D/s relationship with a big, bad, scary Dom who’s as sexy as hell.

Review: Kyle is shy, reserved and timid. His best friend Marshall keeps telling him he’s a natural Sub, but Kyle has this pre-conceived notion of the BDSM lifestyle that has him adamantly denying Marshall’s claim. He’s quite good with his hands though, and wood (note the double entendre). With Marshall’s help, Kyle lands his dream job as the exclusive designer for the new BDSM club, Kiss of Leather, that is opening in town.

The minute Master Gavin lays eyes on Kyle, he’s pretty much done. It will take a lot of swooning, reassuring and promises to get Kyle to willingly submit to the lifestyle though. If there is one thing Master Gavin is, besides sex on a really tall stick, is patient. He sets his sights on Kyle to become his Sub, neither man realizing that they are about to get far more than they bargained for.

So, I’m constantly turned on to new things that I previously thought I didn’t care for. The softer side of the BDSM lifestyle is apparently one of them. What I enjoyed most about Gavin and Kyle’s story was the communication between them. Gavin is a very patient man, though Kyle tests that patience on occasion. Kyle is curious, very curious, which can be a blessing and a curse. Gavin graciously navigates Kyle through the rocky waters of a Dom/Sub relationship, molding and shaping him into the man he wants. He realizes somewhere along the way that part of the attraction to Kyle is not only his shy, constantly blushing nature. It’s his backbone made of solid wood. Kyle may struggle a lot, but he is not afraid to say no when he means it.

There were a few issues I had with the story, minor details mostly. I didn’t like that Gavin had Kyle call him Master even when he was at work. I thought that should have been a degree of separation between personal and professional lives. And then I had mixed feelings about the ending. Without giving spoilers, let’s just say I wanted a little more than what was there. That being said, I loved the vulnerability that both men expressed at the end.

Regardless, this was a fun read. I devoured it in just a couple hours, unable to set it down once I started. Knight has this definite flair for the BDSM lifestyle and I enjoy the way she writes it. She explains it in a way that conveys love and respect, not just pain and punishment. I’m a bit excited to see whose story will be next. I’d kind of like to see someone put a leash on Marshall; he’s got a mouth on him.

Blurb: SWAT officer, Cole, can handle just about anything, until he rescues Brett—a man who makes him question all he’s ever believed about love.

As a member of the Las Vegas Police Department’s SWAT team, Cole has seen his fair share of danger, but he’s never taken a chance on love. He’s willing to have some fun when the mood strikes him, but he’s married to the job. Called in on a hostage situation, Cole is prepared for anything and everything…except for the brave and beautiful Brett.

Brett has been burned before, most recently by Officer Parker McLean. He’s hoping to settle down in Vegas, perhaps find someone he can build a life with. The last thing Brett’s looking for is another man in uniform. But when he meets Cole, there’s an attraction that can’t be denied. Still, he hadn’t expected to fall for the chiseled alpha.

What begins as nothing more than two people experiencing a great night together spirals into something far deeper. But will Brett be able to handle the stress that comes with having a lover who constantly puts his life in jeopardy? And can Cole risk his heart on an everyday hero, or will the job he knows so well remain his top priority?

Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of mild BDSM.

Review: As a LVPD Swat officer, Cole has learned how to separate business and pleasure. Hell, he and his hostage negotiator even have a ‘friends with benefits’ thing going.

Then a call comes in that a local department store is under fire, there are hostages, and Cole comes face to face with the one man who has captivated his thoughts since the night he saw him at a local bar.

Brett doesn’t have the best track record with men, especially men in uniform. Leather however, leather he can do. Then a cute little twink bellies up to the bar and bats his eyelashes at the man in leather, and Brett feels shot down before he even had a chance to make a move. Fate has a way of intervening when she’s thrown off course though. Imagine Brett’s surprise when the store he manages is held up at gun point, and the officer that saves his life is the man in leather.

Brett is an emotional wreck after the day’s events. He just wants to be held, to feel protected, even if it is only for one night. Cole is a bit wrecked as well, the man who doesn’t like attachments finds himself very attached to the smart, standoffish blonde that is always immaculately dressed and well spoken. It’s just supposed to be one night of unbridled passion, with a little bit of domination.

But then those pesky feelings get involved and both men wind up held hostage to the threat of falling in love.

What Knight did with this story was take her love of BDSM and her uncanny ability to write contemporary romance and merge the two.

Cole is a big boy; he’s used to being in charge and getting what he wants. Brett is more than willing to submit to Cole, to let go of all his inhibitions and let the man control him in the bedroom. I especially enjoyed the banter back and forth between Cole and Brett during sexy time. How Cole, while wanting to dominate and take control, always made sure his lover was okay physically, mentally and emotionally.

They both struggled with different things as well. Cole so used to being a loner, almost pushes Brett away completely because he fears opening his heart to the man will somehow take away some of his control. And Brett has always drawn inward and kept his feelings to himself, but Cole can pull anything out of him pretty much from that first night they spend together. So while communication was a struggle at first, Cole made sure those lines remained open.

Definitely a must read and a fantastic installment to this series. If you are a fan of sexy men in uniform, overbearing alpha males, sweaty man sex where one of the men might be tied to a headboard, while being ravaging and romanced by his big, brooding lover… you are going to love this book!

Review: I really enjoyed this story. The intense emotions between Kirk and Shane were great. I thought it was sweet how Kirk wanted to take care of Shane always. A great love story that takes place in the middle of a raging storm. It was intense yet very tender at times.

Very well written. The plot and characters draw the reader into the story to find out what happens throughout. Hot sex and on the edge of your seat scenes leaves the reader gasping at times.

Another great book by Morticia Knight.

Vegas is filled with human cast-offs, yet officer Parker McLean sees something special in hustler Slade Wolfgang. Unfortunately, so does Slade’s pimp who wants to sell him overseas in the sex trade.

Hustler Slade Wolfgang has little choice over his fate. At the age of twenty, he’s had to survive any way he can since being thrown out of his home for being gay. As soon as he hit Vegas, Slade was lured into the hopeless world of prostitution where he’s become a virtual prisoner to his pimp, the ruthless Julio Estevez. His evil keeper has even threatened to sell Slade overseas as a sex slave.

It’s another typical night on the Strip when Parker comes across Slade. His heart breaks every time he sees someone so young being exploited. Something in Slade’s eyes tells Parker the young man might be in real trouble though – especially after the recent spate of sex worker killings from a rival prostitution ring.

The two men’s lives become intertwined when Slade is almost beaten to death. The danger grows, but so does the relationship between Parker and Slade. Parker helps Slade to heal from the horrific attack and their bond deepens. But the human traffickers are still out there – and they’re still looking for Slade.

Publisher Advisory: Scenes of violence and a brief scene of sexual abuse. Although part of a series, this book can be read as a standalone.

Review: Slade Wolfgang succumbs to the lure of the big city lights of Vegas after being thrown out by his family when he comes out to them. He didn’t realize the struggle it would be to make it on the strip, and now he is under the thumb of a ruthless pimp that whores him out to the highest bidder. Slade wants out, he wants his life back, but Julio has other plans for his hot, young hustler.

Parker McLean is drawn to the fear that permeates off Slade when he attempts to arrest him. All he can think about from that moment on is saving and protecting the gorgeous young man from whatever it is that has instilled that fear in him. When Slade is shot and then attacked in his hospital room by his psychotic pimp, Parker moves him into his home, and into his bed. All the time Slade spent on the streets and under the thumb of Julio has made him hard and untrusting and when he misinterprets something he sees at Parker’s apartment, he runs, right into the clutches of Julio.

Julio plans to sell Slade to a human trafficking ring, but one Vegas city Cop has different plans in mind for the scared shitless former hustler, that just wants to be loved. Will Parker find Slade before he’s sold and shipped off to parts unknown? Or will their romance fade like Slade’s hopes and dreams when he came to the city of lights?

Knight is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with in the M/M genre, that at times can be tedious and repetitive. She continually brings fresh and gritty storylines and characters to her books. Sin City uniforms promises to be a gripping series full of sexy cops, firemen, hustlers and pimps with the backdrop of the beautifully deceptive city of lights we call Vegas. The scenes on the strip are so well written and described that I can literally visual myself being there with Parker and Slade. Then there is the character development and emotions that jump right off the pages and really endear the reader to the characters.

If you are a fan of sexy men in uniforms, drama, suspense, insta-love and some pretty smexy romance then this is a must read series for you. This is the second book in the Sin City uniforms series, but if you won’t be lost if you haven’t read the first book. I do suggest reading it though as it’s the story of the emotional beat cop and his brooding, sexy fireman.

Even though he’s barely twenty-two years old, the small spitfire has made his way in the world as best as he can and has even started his own would-be investigative agency. Review: This was an amazing story of one man determined to find out the truth and another man determined to protect him by any means necessary. Dylan is a private investigator hired to find a young man named Jason, who was last seen being dropped off at Road Rage. While there, he is saved from being roughed up by Zero. Zero is a sexy biker who is instantly attracted to Dylan. Once Zero learns who Dylan is searching for he knows he has to protect him while finding out the truth about another club member who is likely to kill to keep anyone from finding out his secret.

Very well written story with mystery, danger and action that grabs your attention from the beginning and doesn’t let go until the very end. Loved the chemistry between Zero and Dylan. It seemed as though they had both gone through some tough things as they were growing up and seemed to understand one another. Dylan seemed like the type to find out the truth no matter what. Fantastic read.

Highly recommended.

Blurb: Former screen idol, Roman Pasquale, struggles to survive in Hollywood as the silent film era comes to a close. But a fresh new playwright is in town and he wants Roman to be more than just his star.

The past few years haven’t been kind to fading film star, Roman Pasquale. But then again, he was never very kind to anyone else either. He’s had time to reminisce on his mistakes and to accept responsibility for how he hurt others. Now that Global Studios has turned their back on him, he’s had to sell his grand estate and start over in a modest apartment.

His former co-star, actress Maude Simons, suggests that he meet with new playwright, Max Vogel. Not only will he get the chance to be the star again, Roman can really use the money. What he doesn’t expect, is how strongly he’s attracted to the easy-going, confident young man—and the very wicked thoughts he has about him.

Playwright and director, Max Vogel, is delighted that the great Roman Pasquale has agreed to star in his play. What he was unprepared for however, was the intense physical spark that ignited the moment they met. He’s been warned of Roman’s reputation for being difficult to work with, but he’s willing to take the risk—even though his career depends on the success of this one play.

Max needs to coax a heartfelt performance out of Roman and Roman needs to live up to his resolve to be a better man. But maybe the real issue is whether or not the director and actor can resist the passion they have for one another, a lust so strong that it catches them unaware. Is their lust really love? Or will the drive for success destroy any hope for a happily-ever-after?

Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of fisting and references to childhood rape.

Review: Let me start by saying, I’ve been waiting for this book since the end of the third book! And while it’s noted as being a standalone story, I highly recommend you read this series in order, as each story is woven through them all in all the characters touch each book in a different way.

Roman Pasquale is having a hard time as of late. Still bitter over his breakup with the only person he truly ever loved, Jack, now he’s dealing with his failing movie career. He packs up his mansion, sells off most of his things and moves to a modest apartment in a building that is occupied by same-sex couples only. The silver lining in his otherwise dreary life. He’s quite surprised when he learns that up and coming playwright, Max Vogel, wants him to try out for the lead in his new play.

Max has met Roman in passing previously, but the big time movie star didn’t give Max the time of day. Unknowingly, they run in the same circles and have the same frenemies. But there was that one motion picture Roman did with acclaimed director Andre Chenard that really settled it for Max, and he wrote the character of Allistair around that performance, around that man, Roman Pasquale.

When the two meet the chemistry is not only evident, it’s stifling! Roman has long since given up on ever loving again, on finding a man who could stand beside him and still shine. It’s like Max says to him their first time together, “It’s like you take up all the space in the room.” And he does. Roman is a domineering and commanding presence. Is Max the ying to his yang? And Max as well has never had a lover that would use him and do the things to him he begged for. The two seem to meld to each other’s bodies and personalities as if they were made for each other.

But old habits die-hard. When the play is a huge success and Broadway comes calling, Roman assumes that Max will leave him and be done. Max is infuriated with Roman’s attitude, and after he just asked him to move in with him. It will take the help of Romans two most unlikely allies to help him prove to Max that he loves him and will follow him anywhere.

What a fitting end to a fantastic series. Knight has given us a blast from the past with her Gin & Jazz series full of historical references to the prohibition era complete with costumes, props and big time stars. From the first page of the first book I’ve been completely immersed in these stories. I’m on pins and needles after each one ends, anxious to see where the next book takes me in this world of fame and easy money, Gin joints, the glamorous life of Hollywood royalty and reality of these four couples.

Knight was genius when creating the different men, personalities and couples throughout this series. Cute, innocent Jack with the more experienced Nick, then with the domineering Roman, but always intended to be back with his soul mate Nick. Vincent and Juan, the BDSM couple of the bunch, and my personal favourite. Andre and Will, two stubborn and heard headed men that had to learn the value of give and take in order to make it work.

And we end with Roman getting his second chance at happiness with the younger and eager to please Max. This particular couple has to learn to trust and communicate with each other. The love and attraction are there, and only seems to grow stronger the longer they are together. But to move forward, they will have to let go of the past. Roman is used to being in control, and Max is more than willing to allow that control, in the bedroom. Their relationship is definitely one of compromise and trust. They really bring out the best and the worst in each other.

This is a must read series, there is a little bit of everything for any reader to enjoy. Depending on the couple and their particular story there is murder, suspense, angst, drama and most of all… Love. There is a whole lot of love. Sexy, sweet, sweaty, sticky, no holds barred, romantic, intense, beautiful love! Damn I’m going to miss these boys!!

On a side note, to the Author, my partner in crime, Miss Morticia Knight, you humble me with your words. Thank you.

Dangerous Wish

(Uniform Encounters 06)

by

Morticia Knight

Love is a dangerous emotion that EMT Jared won’t risk. But it looks as though a sweet and sexy National Guardsman is about to make him wish for that—and much more.

EMT Jared Li loves his job, his friends and clubbing. There’s nothing like a night of fun getting glammed up, throwing on some heels and shaking his ass to the latest Britney tune. Life is all about having a good time with as many hot guys as possible.

Dan Harrison has been in the National Guard for about six months and out for not much longer than that. At twenty-two, he’s somewhat innocent, a little shy and not interested in meaningless hook-ups. One night at a karaoke bar changes everything for him when his fellow Guardsman Joseph introduces him to his friend Jared. Dan’s never met anyone like the luscious twink who’s filled with so much life and laughter.

A night of passion shakes them to their very cores. Jared really likes Dan, but doesn’t want to get caught up in any type of exclusive thing. Dan wishes there could be more between them, but is willing just to be friends in order to remain near the androgynous stunner.

Hanging out strictly as friends proves to be almost impossible for them both. Not only does Jared continuously lust after the muscular soldier, but he’s also falling for the caring and compassionate man. Dan’s every sex fantasy stars Jared in one of his daring club outfits, but his heart is what really matters and it’s already been lost to Jared.

A traumatic event breaks down the barriers between them and gives them the chance to be together the way they both want. But after Dan is called up by the Guard to assist at a natural disaster, the same bravery that Jared admires in Dan might be the final thing that separates them forever.

Blurb: A sexy young National Guardsman, a snarky bear of a DEA Agent and a vicious Mexican drug cartel. Someone’s going to be sorry.

Special Agent Stephen Morris thought his home life had settled into a pleasantly dull routine. Hanging out in his yard and barbecuing is a typical weekend for the brawny mid-thirties man—and his partner, Rigo, from the DEA office is usually there with his family to keep him company. Being assigned to a main border crossing in Nogales, Arizona, keeps him busy enough at work, so he doesn’t have time to worry about love. However, that doesn’t mean he’s not lonely.

Twenty-two year old PFC Guardsman, Joseph Pirelli, is on an active-duty-for-training mission to help support border patrol and the DEA. The Vasquez drug cartel has become even more vicious than ever—going so far as to target civilians on both sides of the border. Joseph and Stephen are thrown together in a direct conflict with the cartel and a part of Joseph’s dark past is revealed.
Joseph is incredibly attracted to Stephen, even though he doesn’t typically go for older men. He longs to find love, but is still recuperating from an abusive past. The idea of becoming close to a man who could physically harm him brings up fears that may ruin his chances at any kind of relationship with the big teddy bear agent.

Sometimes love shows up when you aren’t looking for it and gives you a chance you shouldn’t ignore. Both men will have the opportunity to wonder what it would be like to lose the other and to decide what they’re willing to risk to be together.

Review: This is book four in this series and should be read in order however they can be read as a standalone book. This book has it all, excitement, danger, sexy men, military men, DEA agents, drug cartels, death, betrayal, and lots of love. Morticia gives you such wonderful characters that you will fall in love with. This particular story caught my attention from the very start and kept it all the way to the end. It was an amazing read.

Special Agent Stephen Morris thought his home life had settled into a pleasantly dull routine. Hanging out in his yard and barbecuing is a typical weekend for the brawny mid-thirties man—and his partner Rigo from the DEA office is usually there with his family to keep him company. Being assigned to a main border crossing in Nogales, Arizona, keeps him busy enough at work, so he doesn’t have time to worry about love. However, that doesn’t mean he’s not lonely. He is an amazing man with such tenderness and love. One night in one of the bars, he comes across a very gorgeous young man, whom you can tell has been hurt before. He knew that he would have to take it easy with Joseph.

Joseph is a Guardsman, but not for the actual reason one would think. He had been in a relationship with a man when he was younger, but the man was cruel and nasty. He had beaten Joseph and then made him have sex with him. Threatening his family if he ever left, he had no idea what to do till they came to arrest Dorian. He knew then that he never wanted to be that weak again. So he had joined the Guards and got stronger. He had not expected to come across a bear of a man. A man he wanted, but was so scared of. He just had to trust himself and trust Stephen. He knew deep in his heart that this man would not hurt him.

There is a time when each man will see what it feels like to lose one another and what it means to give all they have to protect also. When Joseph is taken hostage, Stephen knew that it was a setup but he would give his life to get the man he loved back.

I loved this story. It was told with the perfect tone to it, there is just a hint of humor but most of the time it is with so much seriousness that you can be right there with them when they are in danger and fighting. There are so many reasons why I think someone should read this, but sometimes you just have to trust. I would recommend this because of the story line itself, two hot and sexy men, military men, law enforcement men, and lots of danger. The sex is pretty hot too. I loved the fact that Joseph did everything he could do to overcome all the pain he had went through and turned it into a gift. A gift that let him move forward to be with the man he loved.

Review: Vincent Franklin is the distinguished head of Global Pictures Studios. His job requires him to be strict and he expects his direction to be followed to the letter. When he lost his hottest commodity, young Jack Stone, the actor requested that Vincent look after his friend and former driver Juan. Vincent can’t help but notice Juan’s shy and submissive nature. He promises Jack he will make sure his friend is taken care of, and the more time Vincent spends with Juan, he is certain they could make each other very happy.

Juan has lost a lot in his life. Everyone he’s ever loved has hurt him or left him, including Roman, and then his friend Jack. He is an uneducated immigrant, but he’s learned a lot over the years keeping his eyes open and his mouth shut. He longs for someone to love him for him and take control, lead him through life. He is very drawn to his new boss, the domineering studio head. Juan’s submissive side longs for someone to bend and shape him, but he wants the love and tenderness that only a true companion can give him as well. Will he find that companionship with Vincent? Or get his heart broken again.

With every installment in this series, Knight manages to pull me in and transport me back in time, to the world she encapsulates within each story. The characters throughout are very three-dimensional and flawed, which only makes me more invested in them, and their varying futures. What was especially intriguing about this book in particular was the detailed enlightenment of the Dom/Sub relationship between Vincent and Juan. Vincent’s need to be in control is primal and Juan’s need to let him is endearing. They truly balance each other out, and it’s sexy as hell.

Even if you don’t normally enjoy the BDSM reads, I think you’ll like this book. The subject matter is written with style and class, much like characters. This has become one of my favourite series.

Review:  Jack has always had the nagging thought in the back of his mind that he would end up alone. His first love, Nick, abandoned him long ago leaving him alone and helpless in Hollywood with nothing but broken dreams of the life he wanted to share with Nick. The suave and slightly older actor, Roman Pasquale, quickly swooped in and showed Jack that Nick wasn’t his only option. But Roman’s love became volatile and unpredictable, so Jack and his driver fled leaving both Jack and Roman broken hearted.

Jack is learning that the shield of protection Roman hid him behind was a façade. He has more friends and allies than he thought. The head of the studio, his driver, an actor on his latest film that previously made a pass at him, and of course dear Trixie. But Trixie herself has gone and gotten herself mixed up with a controlling and dark man. A chance meeting for lunch at a local dive brings Jack one-step closer to a future he didn’t know he had. He announces his retirement from acting, gets Juan set up to drive for the studio head and buys a building to start a restaurant on the beach with some friends.

But just when it looks like life is looking up for our young Jack, tragedy strikes and the ground falls out from under him. Through it, all Juan and Vincent are right by his side, helping him stay grounded. And then the past comes full circle and meets in the present. Is it possible that Jack will finally have the one thing he’s always wanted? His Happily Ever After with a man to love, that loves him back without trying to control him? I’ll never tell!

There is a little bit more action and a slightly darker undertone in this installment of the series. But what an outstanding sequel to book three! Jack has grown consistently throughout these books from a shy, naïve introvert into a more confident, mature, and capable adult. He had to learn the hard way, that love with strings attached is not always a good thing. Even though Roman truly loved him in his own way, it wasn’t the way Jack needed to be loved. So who will love Jack the way he wants to be loved? Go grab your copy of Starring Role now to find out!!!

Blurb: Jack and Roman’s love grows seemingly stronger as Jack’s star rises, and he is determined to build a life with the sexually overwhelming screen idol. But hiding from the truth doesn’t make it any less real.

Jack has given himself completely to screen god Roman Pasquale – body and heart. Jack forces himself to let go of the promise of what could have been with Nick, and focus on the enchanted moments with his film star lover instead, despite Roman’s jealous and controlling behavior.

Roman’s paranoia and fear about losing the much younger Jack threatens to destroy the only real happiness Roman has ever had. Jack is a wonder and a gift to him, yet he can’t seem to just accept their charmed life together – he is determined to make Jack into the perfect partner. He believes that constant sexual attention, lavish gifts, and declarations of love will ensure that Jack never has a reason to leave him.

The pressures of being on the silver screen and being the lover of a demanding movie idol is difficult for the sensitive young man to handle, and Roman’s increasingly erratic behavior only adds to his stress. Unwanted attention from other men and a startling revelation from movie star Trixie Fox add to Jack’s confusion. All he’s ever wanted was true love, so how can he give up on Roman and the star’s promises of forever?

Review:  This is the third book in a series that must be read in order.

All young Jack has ever wanted was to be loved and be happy. He thought he found that with Nick, but had his heart-broken when Nick left him. Screen icon Roman Pasquale was conveniently there to pick up the pieces. Jack was leery of the eccentric older man’s affections in the beginning, but persistence paid off and Roman finally won his heart. As much as Jack wants to live happily ever after with Roman, things are happening that are starting to concern Jack.

Roman is controlling and extremely jealous. And now the studio has tightened the reins on their relationship, making them hide the fact that they are lovers even more so than they already were. Roman’s constant paranoia that he’s going to lose his young lover is causing him to make decisions that are just pushing Jack even further away.

Jack loves Roman with all his heart, and Roman returns that love he just doesn’t really know how to convey it all the time. The distance that the studio is forcing on them is actually providing some clarity for Jack. That coupled with a newfound interest in him and a secret he discovers may be too much for his strained relationship with Roman to bear.

The character development throughout this series just keeps growing and maturing. Jacks naiveté is his greatest quality, and he’s about to find out he has strength as well. Roman is hanging on by a thread. His domineering personality can come across as abusive if you read him the wrong way, but he really just knows no other way to love. I’ll tell you after reading this installment and learning even more about the characters and delving deeper into the story, who I’m rooting for has shifted.

This series is fast paced and completely engaging with a wide variety of colorful characters. Knight has written a fantastical story set in the Prohibition era wrapped up with glitz, romance, movie star dreams, and heartbreak. I recommend adding this collection to your e-reader for sure.
