Review: I was completely blown away by this book! I absolutely loved it! And you know what? I haven’t even read the first two books – though you can be damn sure that I want to now!!! I think I’ve used up my exclamation marks quota, but to paraphrase singer/song writer Nick Cave: I use three exclamation marks because it’s awesome.

So that being said, I am sure that this series is meant to be read in order, but there is enough background on the couples from the two previous books that I was in no way confused about the characters or the past storylines that were referred to. Namely, one MC Rory was actually married around the time of book 1 (maybe, could be book 2) and this is the continuation of his story.

Just as the blurb suggests, Rory Donovan’s life is a hot mess. He has a great career as a photography teacher and you can tell that his passion is teaching his art. His personal life, however, is not so great. His marriage is falling apart and he has been seeing a psychiatrist since before his marriage about “performance” issues.

The poor guy just really needs to find himself and that is why from the start I love Rory, was sympathetic to his plight and I just wanted him to have a HEA just like his besties have.

On the other hand we have Bennett Foster, he’s a Coast guard officer and while he is generally out he doesn’t advertise the fact that he’s gay, especially at work. When he was a teen, he and his best friend, Jessica, fooled around which resulted in their now emo teenage daughter, Addison. He’s a great guy, supportive of Jessie and a great father. The fact that he’s a hot coast guard is just the icing on the cake.

As minor characters go, I have to give a special mention to Addison and Jessica. I love the relationship between Ben and his BFF, which never fell apart despite the fact they had a daughter. Jessie always knew and accepted that Ben was gay.

As for Addison, she’s that special character that kind of gives us those important life lessons you get throughout books. She’s a dark horse, that’s for sure, and beneath all that teenage emo personality and going through her own difficult time, she certainly taught the guys (and the reader) a lot.

This is one of those books that I would give a blanket recommendation. If you like your romance with: sweetness, angsty/emotive kids, a character on a journey of self discovery, wonderful BFF’s, HEAs – there is even a sprinkling of illness and danger, I think it’s safe to say you’ll get a lot of enjoyment out of this one.

Review: Twin brothers Scott and Sawyer were close when they were younger. But as Scott grew up and realized his feelings for his brother were far deeper than the acceptable norm of a bond between twins, he started to distance himself.

When Sawyer comes to visit and camps out on Scott’s couch, the two are forced to deal with secrets they’ve kept buried for years.

This is a short, steamy read that is sure to cause a spike in your blood pressure. The content is “taboo” so if you have an issue with twincest, you might want to skip this naughty little read.

I quite liked it. There was a bit of drama, secrets being revealed, uncertainty with how those secrets will be perceived and even a quick pulse pounding moment of danger.

If you are a fan of Mercy Celeste or Max Voss then you’ll definitely want to read this one. A delicious little snack I’ll keep on my kindle to re-visit every now and again.

Review: This book is a collection of the three novellas which make up Alex Carreras’ Sangre Series. It makes perfect sense that this series was released in the one volume since the stories are tightly connected together, so much so that it could almost be read as one story. Luckily, since this is the one volume, there is no need to worry that you are reading the books in the right order, something that is essential for the Sangre series.

The stories themselves are all interesting and enjoyable, though something I noticed with all three is that the action seemed to be glossed over a bit. However, the characters themselves are all enjoyable and you can really see their development. For me, it was the six MCs that made the stories for me rather than the actual plot line. The attraction between the guys was hot, but this too sometimes felt like it was being glossed over.

Firstly, in Buzz & Blow, we are introduced to the town Sangre in Florida and the vampires that work at the hairdressers, Everlasting. Their rival across the street is the rougher, vampire-run barber shop, Killer Kuts. Asher from Everlasting meets the dark and mysterious Niko from Killer Kuts. They find themselves surrounded by the mystery of solving who the vampire is that is killing humans and in the process drag their friend from Everlasting and Killer Kuts along with them.

Then we go to Shave & Shimmer, where Tory from Everlasting and Ray, new to Killer Kuts (spotting the trend here?) meet under the watchful match-making eye of Tory’s friend from the first book, Asher. Ray has some baggage from his past. He has mourned the death of his lover and sire for over a hundred and fifty years.

Tory on the other hand is essentially a ray of sunshine, pun intended although unfortunately this description of the character does not always come across. As well as facing Ray’s past, there is an underlying current of trouble spilling over from the first book.

Then we end with Fade & Fluff, where the owners of Everlasting, Jerrod, and Killer Kuts, Kaidron, meet up but not for the first time. These guys have a long history together. They are ex-lovers. We find that out quite quickly in the first story. Unfortunately, I just don’t think there was enough emphasis on their past and what exactly went wrong for the guys. This story is about tying up the loose ends of the first two books as well as getting the ex-lovers to work out their differences.

Once again, I think the danger that the six MCs are facing needed more (though I’m not entirely sure what, I can’t put my finger on it).

Overall it was enjoyable and you do really need to read all three to get complete satisfaction from the overarching plot.

Review: Picture this…

High above Wilde City, Howard Hart flies one of his airships through the bright, morning sky. Only to find his son, heir to the Hart fortune, butt ass naked on his balcony with his lover, Buck Baxter Private Investigator extraordinaire, just as naked. Holding his spent lover in his arms. The tension is palpable. As if Buck needed another headache today.

First he’s very rudely woke by his assistant Stella who can best be described as a foul-mouthed dame that likes to “borrow” her bosses pipe and smoke all his pot! Then there is the new case at the theater where the leading lady disappeared into a puff of fog and black feathers. Yes, I said feathers.

From the start, something is amiss, but Buck has a hard timing putting his finger on the miss since he’s having to play good cop to Stella’s slightly hysterical bad cop. The theater seems to be alive with malcontent and mysteries. The playbill for the show is a substitute suspect list as Buck and Stella try to navigate their way through costumes, cranky actors, a pretentious backer and a very cranky snake. It doesn’t help that Buck’s focus is divided between the case and his now uncertain relationship with Harry.

This was just a fast, fun read. I love this 1920’s era world Knight has created as the backdrop, with these theatrical characters that breathe life into the story. I think Stella is my favorite, I just love the way she talks, like a twenties harlot. I picture a young Mae West while I’m reading her and I can just see her at the juke joint with her feather boa, glittery flapper dress, that long cigarette holder, or in Stella’s case, Buck’s pipe! I picture her wearing a way too long string of fake pearls that she could wrap around someone’s neck and choke the living shit out of them if they pissed her off.

Then there is the dual mystery of the story that kept it a little intense for the reader. There were little clues dropped throughout the dialogue if you were paying attention while reading, that made the suspects identity clearly obvious, but I didn’t realize that until the identity was revealed. That was very enjoyable.

Then there is the strain on the relationship between Buck and Harry unfolding in the background. The story flowed well and steady from start to nearly the finish, with a big finale that literally had me sitting up straight, freaking out just a little bit.

All’s well that ends well, that’s all I’m going to say. If you are a fan of slapstick mystery, Columba, the roaring twenties… grab yourself a copy of this little ditty, I think you’ll approve. I caution that you read the first book if you haven’t yet, otherwise you won’t understand or appreciate some important events and characters within this story.

Grab your pipes, pour yourself a glass of gin and sit back and enjoy Buck’s current comical caper, as he tries to solve the mystery of the Disappearing Divas! And try hard not to get caught with his pants down by his boyfriends dad again either.

Review: Wow, this book was a fantastic read. It felt similar to the Indiana Jones movies. Action packed adventure and suspense with some very skilled sexy men. This book travels all over the world as the characters are treasure hunters. The different cities were breathtaking. The sex was hot and steamy though there wasn’t a lot of it.

The characters are Luca de Roma, an Italian model, Dr. Eden Santiago, Brazilian Biologist, Shane Houston, cowboy, Will Hunter, college student, Jake Stone, adventurer. These guys were amazing and had me wishing I was with them as the traveled.

I really liked that each of the five were introduced and that their skills and background were included. The characters seemed to come alive as the story progressed leaving the reader wanting more and more. You will be holding your breath, gasping, and sitting on the edge of your seat throughout.

Can’t wait to see what happens next. Simply an amazing book that definitely should be read. I loved it.

Highly recommended.

Drew and Felix soon realize an attraction that goes beyond their magical bond. However, there’s a coven of demon-worshipping witches out to steal Drew’s newfound power. If they want to survive long enough to see where their mutual desires take them, Felix must teach Drew the art of witchcraft. But will he be ready in time?

Review: Drew has spent the last three years walking around in a fog after losing his wife, Linda. Figuring it’s about time to let some things go, he’s packing up some things for storage and donation and he stumbles upon a locked box. There is a key that Linda always wore on a necklace, a key that Drew has never been able to match to a lock in the house, until now.

Drew unknowingly opened a door and opened himself up when he unlocked the box and read a spell from the book. First the cat he hasn’t seen since Linda’s death suddenly makes a reappearance, then there is a dark-haired, sexy stranger following him around, and then Drew is attacked in the bathroom at a local bar.

With everything happening so fast, Felix is forced to let the cat out of the bag, so to speak, and just pray that Drew is as open-minded as his late wife was. It takes Drew and Felix about five minutes to sense the mutual attraction, and though Felix tries to push Drew away in the beginning he comes to realize that what brought him back to Drew wasn’t just the magic, or the fact they are witch and familiar, it was love.

Fast paced and action packed, this was a great start to a new series. I was pleasantly surprised that the context of this story is almost light-hearted. I mean it deals with death and magic and demons, but it’s not as intense as Kaine’s writing usually is. I’m liking this softer side of his imagination. Kaine painted a clear picture for both Drew and Felix with solid back stories and then merging their stories as the book progressed along with the relationship.

I’m very excited to see where this little coven goes as their abilities present themselves and grow, and they all find their familiars.

If you are a fan of paranormal, romance, sexy witches and tigers that like to prowl around, pretending to be a pussycat, then you’re gonna love this one!

Review:  I love my broody broken men; that’s my reader’s kink and absolutely the reason I liked this story from the start. I’m not crazy about insta-love, but insta-lust? Bring it on! Scott and Derek were hot for each other from first glance, and that had me all kinds of hot for them. Although

I shook my head at their astonishing lack of gaydar, once that issue was resolved the two were sizzling. That heated sexual tension that overrides everything else in life was ever present, and it put me in a state of anticipation (along with them, of course) almost immediately.

This is not what one would call an easy read. There is angst, self-doubt and self-recrimination deep within both Scott and Derek that pervades the whole story. There is also a glimmer of hope that comes from each of them finding their outlet in creativity, and ultimately each other.

The depths of their inner turmoil allowed for empathy. I wanted them to face their demons, to find absolution and solace together. It also paved the bumpy road to their HEA. I was so glad for that HEA, though. And the sex. Of course the sex. Did I mention it was hot??

At book’s end, I was struck with the thought that I would have loved more of Derek and Scott. A bit of a longer story with some more detail would have definitely amped things up. That being said, for a short read the emotion, depth of character and story was impressive.

If you are like me, and broody, broken, sexy men are your thing, grab this one up and introduce yourself to Scott and Derek. I hope you like them as much as I do!

Review: I don’t know why it is, but to me a gritty western themed book makes me think to the TV show Deadwood. So in my head this has been like Brokeback Deadwood.

The story is told by Tad, a cowboy who enjoys an active sex life with other like-minded men in Cheyenne, where he calls home. But he has a past and part of that was thinking that he had killed a man. Except that man, Clay, turns up very much alive! Set in the West (Cheyenne for the most part) in 1893, this is a nice, quick story, which is enjoyable to read. There is a little mystery set up, which had me wanting, needing to know why Tad had shot Clay 12 years earlier.

And honestly, it was satisfying to read why and the rest f the conclusion to this hot Western.

Blurb: “When the going gets tough, the tough get going—so start your engines!”

Once in a while, everyone falls on hard times. Every year it seems the cost of living goes up, business slows down and money’s just too tight to mention. But for old Clyde, ever-increasing debts have forced him to turn to a notorious loan shark, Tony Trimboli, just so he can keep the doors to his auto shop open and make sure his two hard-working employees—Dean ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson and Jensen Rivers—are able to pay their own rent and make ends meet.

Now the time has come for Clyde to pay up, or else the troublesome Trimboli Triplets—Tony’s three trigger-happy sons—will not only take Clyde’s business from him… they’ll burn it to the ground.

For Hutch and Jensen, there’s only one way to raise the money in time to save Clyde’s livelihood—win the perilous Reaper’s Rally, an illegal two-day race across the scorching desert with a cool $50,000 cash waiting for the first car to cross the finish line.

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to buckle up and start your engines! The race is on to save not only the auto shop but each other’s lives, as Hutch and Jensen blaze a trail of turbo-charged testosterone and high-speed action across the burning California desert in Drive Shaft 2: Between a Rock and a Hard Place.

Review: Jensen and Hutch are settling into being a couple, moving in together, Jensen is even painting over Hutch’s horrible wallpaper. It’s very blissfully normal. Until a local thug and his comes knocking at the shop, wanting the money Clyde borrowed back, with a hefty amount of interest. In order to help the man they have both come to care for like a father, Jensen and Hutch decide to do what they do best, drive.

For two men that went from zero to sixty in their relationship, the specifics of this race will test the boundaries of that relationship. If they stand a chance of winning, they are about to get a crash course in communication and trust. The goal of the race at the start is to win so they can bail Clyde out and save the ship.

It becomes a race for their lives as the Trimboli Triplets do anything and everything possible to sabotage Jensen and Hutch from winning. When the troublesome twosome shows they are stronger and smarter than the Triplets initially thought, they resort to deadly measures to win.
This book was full of suspense, action, and passion as Jensen and Hutch not only navigates their way through a dangerous and deadly race. They are still learning to navigate their way through each other.

Through a snake pit, a dangerous cave, almost drowning and a spooky graveyard capped off by some hot, steamy, paint peeling sex on the hood of the Viper, these two are definitely getting more comfortable in their relationship. I could have done without the constant mentioning of the age difference, which is only six years, and Jensen forever referred to as the young Texan. But overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the edge of my seat action that ran from start to finish in this book.

There was a little sneak peak at the end of this book for book three, and I am so excited for the possibility of threesome. Can’t wait to see how much trouble Jensen and Hutch can strum up in Russia, with a certain Russian.

A must read for anyone that loves an adrenaline rush and some page burning romance.

Review: Always Have, Always Will is the heart breaking and agonizing experience of what many of us imagine to be the worst horror – to be the one left behind. More prose than dialogue, the emotion and angst are high, and your only smiles will be through tears. Make no mistake. You WILL need tissues for this read.

Regret, sadness and fear are so strong in Clay. He is overcome with so much pain, loneliness and anger, but even the worst sorrow or regret cannot hide his love and loss. I am amazed by the intensity this author was able to create in such a short read. Carefully and delicately woven between past and present from Clay’s point of view, this story is haunting, frustrating and somehow loving at the same time.

My emotions truly ran the gamut as I read through my tears, my heart breaking for Clay and Gregg.

“There’s something I forgot to say…” –

I’ll never look at that phrase the same again. What beautiful prose. What a tragically beautiful story. This is my first read from author BJ Sheppard, and I know it won’t be my last.

I hope you’ll break out the tissues and read through your tears with me, because this short but amazing read is very worth your while.

Blurb: Dario Ramos thought he’d left the fighting behind in the war zone when a life-threatening injury sent him home. But a certain Irishman crossing his path everywhere he went convinced him that his biggest battle might be ahead.

Tiernan Callahan is a bigoted jerk. Ramos finds himself constantly in the man’s orbit, even in a city as big as New York. The wounded warrior knows all about pain and loss — and that sometimes anger is the only form of release. When Tiernan once again crowds Ramos’ space, his eyes are opened to the possibility of other forms of release.

Tough NYC cop Tiernan Callahan is still mourning the death of his beloved youngest brother, Mason. Fearing his close-minded family’s reaction, the young soldier never got to tell them his secret — that he was gay and engaged to the love of his life. Tiernan is surviving on anger and guilt.

When he continues to run into Dario Ramos, who continues to push his buttons, something inside him snaps. Suddenly, anger isn’t the only emotion he feels.

Two very different men, still trying to heal: Can they come to an understanding and heal each other?

Review: Tiernan Callahan comes from a long line of New York’s finest, with family members that have carried both guns and hoses. Tiernan became a cop while his brother Michael became a fireman, and the baby of the family Mason, joined the military in an effort to separate himself from his commanding older brothers. Tiernan’s downward spiral started with the death of his little brother in the line of duty, and was only compounded when his family learned that Mason was gay.

Tiernan has made one bad decision after another since Mason’s death, but none of them haunt his every waking thought like Dario Ramos. Ex military war vet himself, Dario managed to make it home, but he carries both emotional and physical scars from his time in the military. And the asinine cop with red streaked hair and a mean streak that is longer than Dario is tall, continues to work his last good nerve. But for some insane reason, the two of them are constantly drawn into each other’s orbit and over time, they start to see each other in a new light.

Both men are large, in charge, domineering, alpha male personalities that seem to do nothing but piss each other off. It’s when they stop yelling at each other that things really get interesting. It takes Tiernan a while to decipher what it is he feels for Dario. It’s been ingrained in his psyche all his life that gay is bad by his over the top catholic mother.

But there is something about Dario that makes Tiernan want to take a chance, makes the brooding Irish cop smile, all the damn time. He will have to come to terms with his sexuality and make amends with someone he truly wronged before he can even consider where he wants to take his relationship with Dario.

There is really nothing sexier than two sexy as sin, controlling alpha males tripping over each other on their way to the bed then wrestling to see who will come out on ‘top’. It takes these two a little while to accept their mutual attraction as exactly what it is, chemistry. For a while, there I wanted to bang their heads together! But once they shared that first steamy kiss while Dario had Tiernan pushed up against the wall, well from that point on, they can’t keep their clothes on or their hands off each other. Even Tiernan’s partner Danny tells him to stop it. They are giving him a cavity.

The Men of Manhattan series is all about true love and second chances. Both Tieranan and Dario have lost a lot in their lives, but only together can they hope to heal. Love is a powerful thing. This book has all Gasq-Dion’s usually quirky one-liners, firey personalities, a well-written storyline, and flawless character development. And she has already sparked my curiosity for the possibility of a couple different couplings in future installments of this series, I do hope that Danny and Bobby are next!

I highly recommend this series especially if you are a fan of strong alpha male types and are a hopeless romantic like me. Start at the beginning though, there are details that won’t be as crisp for you if you just jump right into this book.

Blurb: Jensen Rivers wasn’t looking for trouble. As the new kid on the block at Clyde’s Body Shop, all Jensen wanted was a job, a place where he could put his head down and ass up. Review: Short, Sexy and Steamy… why yes, that is my three favorite colors. And now, if you please… buckle your seat belt, it’s going to be a bumpy ride!

Jensen Rivers came to work at his uncle’s auto shop looking to stay out of trouble and work on cars. But trouble is already there, ready and waiting, in the form of the big, brooding and oh so sexy Hutch. The mutual attraction is obvious, and after Hutch challenges Jensen to a race, their adrenaline is pumping, and that attraction lights like a stick of dynamite. Hutch does things to Jensen’s body that should be illegal, and just might be in some states, but night after night, he keeps coming back for more.

When Jensen accidentally discovers a part of Hutch’s past that he’d rather kept private, Hutch explodes on an assumption and raises the stakes of the next race. Can Hutch see beyond his anger fueled by loss and see that holding on to the past threatens the hope of a future with Jensen?

This was definitely an action packed, thrill ride of sex, domination, and a kinky need for speed. I was completely engaged from start to finish, even if there were a few eye rolling moments. I was a little shell shocked by the end and then the ending was anticlimactic. I expected after the acute attention to details and descriptive from Jensen and Hutch’s previous encounters that the big bang would receive the same attention.

What I got was a sort of fade to black ending, that was frustrating. And oh my good lord god, the scene with the jack, that scene alone is worthy of a Darwin Award. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if that is where Knight got the idea. There should be a, “Do NOT try this at home boys and girls” warning for that scene.

As I said though, the attention to detail, the descriptives, and the character development was spot on and I can’t wait for the next book with these two tearing up more asphalt, and tearing into each other.

If you like, action packed stories, two typical alpha males trying to one up each other for the right to dominate that evening, and kink then this is the perfect filthy little story for you.

Tams Review: ♥♥ Hearts

Jim has always felt at odds with his own feelings, refusing to admit he could possibly be attracted to other men. He’s had a string of girlfriends, but nothing ever connected, especially sexually. Then he and Glenn are assigned to work together in a class they share and soon those feelings that Jim has tried so hard to bury, begin to surface. Glenn is a romantic at heart, at least that is the way he talks. In actuality, he is just a few shakes shy of a rent boy who lives off of his sugar daddy. When he and Jim meet, sparks fly but Jim is hesitant.

Eventually, Jim can no longer hide his feelings, even from himself and the two spend a romantic week together snowed in and sharing more of themselves with each other than either of them have ever shared with anyone else. Reality sets in when Raymond, sugar daddy, returns home. Will Glenn give up the cushy life style of a kept man for love? Or will Jim find himself exactly where he thought he would be where he ever to act on his feelings, alone.

I wanted to like this story so much more than I did. The concept was crafty, but the execution needed more glue. What was billed as a romantic gay for you story left me cold in the end. The romance between Jim and Glenn felt forced, the storyline was too clinical, and the ending really left a sour taste in my mouth. It was kind of depressing, for me at least. Sorry, I can’t recommend this one, but to each his own, right?

Zane’s Review:  ♥♥♥2.5 Hearts

Though this tale takes place in the 1980’s, the direct manner of storytelling is not unlike the Romantic Literature the two MCs are reading in their class. Unfortunately, we are not in those olden days, and I need more than just curt narrative in my love stories. There was a lack of dialogue and romance, missing emotion. I read about them falling in love, but I didn’t FEEL it until it exploded in a dramatic scene that seemed to appear out of nowhere.

Thunder Snow is a short read with a distinctive and unembellished writing style. What you get is what you see. This is a straightforward story of what happens when two people living life unfulfilled find truth and love in each other, and decide to run with it. There is an honesty here that many books lack, and a directness that was at times refreshing and other times uncomfortable. The story seems to give the message that love may conquer the moment, but reality wins out in the end.

If you’re looking for a short story with smiles and good feels and a hearts and flowers ending, this is not the book for you. Furthermore, I would be remiss if I didn’t give warning of two potential red flags (not for me, but for many MM romance readers); there is cheating, and there is no HEA. However, if you want a direct honest approach at a love story with realism, and don’t mind the fact that life gets in the way of love, give this one a go.

Review: This story tells about Francois, how he became a vampire and why he hates humans so much. He is a very vengeful type man, though once you read his story you will see why he is so bitter.
This is a pretty good set up for a series and also a historical setting.

For some reason, I never really related to Francois. Perhaps if I knew more of his human past I would have connected more. Also to me, the story skipped around some and I had a hard time really getting into it. But having said this, it is an intriguing set up of François and his world and the end has me wanting to see where the story goes.

If you like historical settings, vampires that don’t sparkle, deceit, betrayal spies and paranormal series, this is for you

Review: Gordon is a banker living a lie and very closeted. He needs a man badly but hasn’t brought himself to actually take that step and cheat on his wife. One day the bank is robbed and Gordon is held hostage by Tom Stoddard the bank robber and Gordan’s life is drastically changed.

Oh my gosh this book was amazing. I will say it totally threw me for a loop. The story is set in the old west, and has that old west charm going full strength. I actually felt I was living there the descriptions were so well done.

I loved that though there was a lot of sex, it was well written. I will warn you it is very rough and rugged and the book is very unpredictable. Once you start, you won’t want to put it down.

I really liked Gordon. I liked how he decided to follow his heart, well perhaps more his other head. Once he had a taste of his fantasy he couldn’t go back and would do what he had to in order to satisfy his cravings for men.

I highly recommend this if you like coming out stories, the old west, sheriffs, outlaws, Bank Robbers, fast paced stories that are not predictable and some very rough and tumble mansex. Oh and COWBOYS!!

Reviewer: GiGi

Review: I really enjoy a good murder mystery, hot cops, and twisted, damaged characters, so I knew this book would grab my attention right away, and it didn’t disappoint!

The whole story is rather reminiscent of a good Alfred Hitchcock episode, if good ol’ Al had included some hot man on man action that is. The depressed and agoraphobic songwriter, does not so much become clear, as gets laid out for us one depressing, frustrating, detail at a time. At first I don’t’ want to see that he is so damaged, and I want to shake him out of his stupor. Thank god for Detective Marzoli, who seems to have knocked on his door at just the right time, the bottom of this neurotic songwriter’s spiral.

Marzoli seems to see where the MC is at, The Next may very well be suicide, and he’s there not only to solve a murder, but also to stop the waste of humanity. The sexual sparks are there, though the MC has had a recent breakup with his girlfriend, I had the feeling that men were not foreign to him.

Add to the twists of mental breakdown, agoraphobia, the fact that the MC has given up on socializing, cleaning his house, earning money to pay his bills, and last but not least, VERY disturbing flashbacks to his youth after receiving a call about the death of his brother. Though I’m starting to wonder if the brother was real, or if the brother is him, that’s a concept for a much longer, more rambling review…

The MC (I’ll keep calling him that because I can’t seem to remember a name, (another reason I think he’s Paul) is interrogated by Marzoli about his upstairs neighbor, only to come to the conclusion that he’s been killed, not gone missing. As Marzoli challenges MC to open his windows, and himself, to life around him, he links the neighbor’s behavior to the missing/murdered twink upstairs.

The mystery deepens, and so does Marzoli’s relationship, friendly, sexual, and otherwise, as the plot thickens. We see MC gaining strength, as Marzoli exposed his own weaknesses.

So many little twists, so many mysteries among neighbors, so many layers. That’s what I like in a good book, layers, suggestion, the planting of an idea, to let it grow and fester in my mind until I can‘t help but demand the answers. I read until I completed this story, losing hours of sleep, and pieces of my mind to plotting and puzzling.

The Next is a great mystery, thriller, and sexual twister. I highly recommend to those who love more than romance.
