Review: Cole, Sean’s cousin, is looking for a fresh start after his military enrollment comes to an end. He decides to visit Sean and is shocked that his cousin is with a vampire. He panics and leaves. Cole has a low tolerance for the paranormal until he is introduced to Rafeal.

I loved that the story did not start with Cole and Rafeal. Instead it built up to them meeting, Cole coming to grips with his bigotry and seeing there are things out there that are worth taking a chance on. Sean and Arturo are still very much in love in this story and it shows throughout.

I simply loved the entire story. The two couples blended well together and the story flowed from one to the other and dealt with different issues going on. All in all it was a great read.

This was a great story but also horrifying at what was done to Quay. My heart broke for Quay’s suffering silently as he watched his perfect brother take his place. At the same time he sse’s Flessar, an outcast like him as attractive. It is forbidden for them to be together though. The whole story was both magical yet sad. It was a great mix.

Tyler and Marsh were a great match in this story as one is different than the others and soon learns why. The overall feeling is learning to live with the truth and being happy in the situation as you can.

Tris takes Colton on the other side of the wall and shows him things he’s never seen before. I loved how this story showed the differences between the two men and places. It was a perfect blend to keep the reader interested.

I have to say I normally do not like all the stories in an anthology yet this one I loved them all. They each were unique in their own ways and were beautifully written. Highly recommended.

Review: A wonderful story of two young men in college who find out that all is not what it seems and that everything they thought they knew is wrong. Thrust into a magical world full of both allies and evil these must try to survive and complete a journey that has been foretold throughout the ages.

Marcus while sexy and athletic seemed arrogant and cruel at first until you find out the reason why. I felt bad for him that he had to hide who he truly was at the beginning. Toby seemed to bear the brunt of Marcus’ cruel comments. Toby is in love with Marcus and can’t figure out why he him the he does. A surprise request will throw these two together for a rather harrowing adventure into another world.

I loved all the details of the past that went into the books that Toby was a fan of. I suspected that maybe just maybe the places actually existed. I never however suspected another world altogether. This world is fraught with serious danger all throughout as people intent on evil deeds are out to destroy these two young men. I loved how the story progressed and Marcus and Toby worked together.

I was pleasantly surprised by who Toby and Marcus might be. Some scenes were hair-raising, intense and nail biting, while others were happy, sweet and joyful. Some of the creatures described in this book are horrifying and downright mean. The only thing I did not like was the way the time period would all of a sudden go back five days or ten days especially after a scene where the reader is left wondering what will happen. But I understand why it was done after completely reading the story.

I am looking forward to reading the next book in this amazing journey to find out what happens next. There is so much that happens and so many different characters introduced that it’s impossible to put them all in a review.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure, action, fantasy and paranormal.

Review: Marcus and Toby’s relationship is tested in this latest installment. The Duke is infatuated with Marcus and tries everything to convince Marcus to leave Toby. But amid the uncertainty of possibly losing Marcus, Toby tries to figure out how to defeat a great evil among them.

Betrayal, deception and danger follow the young couple as the story progresses. It did not surprise me in the least about the leader of the guards. He seemed cruel and without any morals.

I really enjoyed how complex yet well written the story was, there is a lot going on in this series.  The details and mystery were amazing. I was impressed and on the edge of my seat throughout.

Loved it.

Review: This story takes place on a college campus. There are a wide range of characters that interact throughout. The son, Wilder, of a prominent politician who uses blackmail to control others. He wreaks havoc among the students and four students, Tony, Sarah, Dashel and Ashley soon have their world turned upside down.

Wilder’s ruthlessness is unnerving as the four individuals face the aftermath with differing results. It’s complex yet intriguing story as we follow the story and the reasoning’s behind the actions. The four students differ from each other in every way.

The author details Tony, Ashley, Dashel and Sarah very well so that we get a true understanding of who they are and where they come from. I truly loved this well written book. It has drama, suspense and mystery that keeps the reader interested and invested to the very end.

Highly recommended.

Blurb: Mitch Montgomery should be happy. He’s just got his own apartment with his best friend from high school, Josh Connors, recently landed a job at IGNITE, the coolest and gayest gym in town, and his new neighbor is hot, hung, horny, and above everything else, interested.

So why isn’t he…. happy?

It’s because he thought that by now his life would be way better. Instead of attending a crappy community college, Mitch should be at a big name school busy being Big Man On Campus and scoring touchdowns, not wiping down lockers and giving workout advice to wannabe gym dudes. This was not the way it was supposed to be. But a devastating knee injury during his junior year ended all of his hopes and dreams of ever going pro.

Austin Grey is gorgeous. Everybody wants him, but he only wants Mitch Montgomery who recently moved in across the way. Austin has a problem. A big very problem. He used to be… fat.

While in high school, Austin was an outcast, unpopular and bullied. After graduation he vowed to leave the fat boy behind and become the wet dream on legs he is now. Easier said than done. While working on his outer self, he neglected his inner self, and he can’t seem to accept the new person he’s become no matter how hard he tries.

All on the same city block, the boys of Banana Court learn to love, live, and sometimes lose as they strive to have a little fun along the way.

Review: This is a fun and quick read. It’s one of those no stress, relaxing type of books that you can only get angry at if you want more melodrama or whatever. Really, the whole premise is just a bit of fun – young, gay college students just trying to get by between work and school and maybe throw in a love life in between all of that. It’s really a few hissy-fits away from being a gay soap opera.

Obviously, this story follows Mitch and Austin. Mitch and his best friend since school, Josh, find an apartment together in Banana Court where they are surrounded by like minded young men. It is there where Mitch meets one of their new neighbors, Austin.  Mitch doesn’t realize it at first, but Austin was a year level above him and Josh, and is quite unrecognizable because he has lost quite a bit of weight and has basically become some sort of Adonis.

That is essentially the main guts of the story. There is nothing super involved, which is why this is such an easy and enjoyable read. This is one of those books that is great to read after you have just gone through a particularly harrowing book and your poor little heart that takes fiction too seriously needs time to recover.

Totally enjoyable with some really hot sexual tension and sex, Alex Carreras does not disappoint with a sexy story with a HEA.

Review: This is one of those reads that is short and sexy and satisfying. Nate, from Sydney, Australia meets Cameron while on a trip around Europe with his two best friends. Cameron, as the blurb says, is rich and so at first he is a bit of a douche when he tries to impress Nate.

The story is very quick, part of me wanted there to be a lot of guts to the story, especially towards the end and when we have to deal with Nate getting over his ex Elliot and his conversations with Elliot. I can’t say anything without giving anything away but there is a bit of a twist that completely turns the story on its head. It’s completely enjoyable and a really cool but I just felt that the moment the twist was introduced the story was rushed and I was a little disappointed not to find out more about things.

A quick read this is not for anyone who does not like insta-love. All in all, it’s sweet, fun and sexy, with a bit of a ride around the world. The couple themselves work well together but part of me just wanted more from them, it just felt like the surface of these characters were scratched.

Review: The Westerfields of Chatham County by Carol Lynne, now in its second edition, is one of those books that are more so than others very much a “niche” type of story. I read the first edition of this book when it came out in 2012. However, I don’t think that there is a hell of a lot of difference between the two editions. I’m a massive fan of Carol Lynne and always look forward to her books.

The story follows the Westerfield brothers, Ian and Bull – there was a third brother but he had been murdered some years before. The Westerfield family has been long ostracized, and now the only two family members left, Ian and Bull are being bullied out of town for being an “unnatural family”. After a short scuffle in town, the brothers pick up Axel, a stranger who is hiking on the side of the road during a storm.

The story itself is interesting and could be a lot longer so as to explore a couple significant issues that that is brought up only too briefly. Of course, the taboo part of this book is that Ian and Bull are not only brothers but they are sexual partners who love each other after being brought in a family tradition of abuse (this is what I feel could have been expanded upon and made the book a lot better).

However, if you don’t mind reading about brothers having sex, that’s fine – the only problem I had was that I didn’t really feel the spark of passion between them. The sex scenes, even those with Axel, are a tad boring and again that essential spark was lacking for me. I liked all three characters and they meshed well together, there just wasn’t enough development of the plot or the characters.

The first hurdle to get past is if you want to read a book that highlights an incestuous relationship – since they can’t have kids it’s probably easier to accept. After that everything is what you would expect in a homophobic community with hot cowboys.

Myths Untold: Faery

by

August Li, Brandon Witt, J. Scott Coatsworth, Skye Hegyes,

Faeries are part of mythology the world over, past, present, and future. Called elves, brownies, the fae, and more, they evoke a sense of wonder and a little danger. Faery has its own rules, and humans enter at their peril.

In this spirit, we bring you the first book in the Myths Untold anthology series—four stories from the land of the Fae: a homeless man in Cardiff and the luck that could destroy him; the trans man in future San Francisco who falls for an elf; the village boy who has always been a little different; and a faery prince whose birthright was stolen from him.

Welcome to Faery.

The Pwcca and the Persian Boy, by Gus Li

Despite beauty and luck, something about Glyn makes everyone uncomfortable. Homeless on the streets of Cardiff, he has nothing to keep him going but his friendship with Farrokh. Through stealing and fortune’s occasional favor, Glyn keeps them alive. But then homeless youths begin to disappear, and when Farrokh goes missing, Glyn begins to discover the reasons behind both his luck and the way people react to him. Determined to save his friend from a danger he never imagined, he enlists the help of Lleu, who might be an ally, or might be manipulating Glyn to achieve his own goals.

The Other Side of the Chrysalis, by Brandon Witt

In a species that values beauty above all else, Quay looses both his freedom and his birthright as prince of the fairies.  Lower than an outcast, he watches over his younger brother, hoping against hope that Xenith’s rebirth will provide safety and positions that has slipped through Quay’s grasp.  Though he expected kindness from no one, Quay gradually starts to trust that there is more to life, even for the likes of him, as sexual encounters with Flesser, a fairy barely accepted himself, turn from lust to love.  Quay knows having forbidden relationships will be his undoing,  but he is powerless to turn away.

Changeling, by Skye Hegyes

With his pointed ears and a tail, Tyler’s always been different than the other children, but until Marsh, a brownie tells him he’s a changeling, he never thought he wasn’t human. Now he will discover what faery life is like, and just how being a changeling could change his life. On the way, his ties with his mother will be pushed and prodded even as his friendships grow and his love life blossoms.  However, in a village of God-fearing people, those who are different are spurned and Tyler will discover how much trouble a fledgling changeling can get into.

Through the Veil, by J. Scott Coatsworth

In the not-too-distant future, San Francisco has been swamped by rising sea levels caused by global warming, and has only survived by building a wall to keep the water out of the heart of the City. Colton is a trans man barely getting by on the canals outside the wall. Tris is an elf who has come to the human world on his journey to become a man. Fate brings them together, and everything changes for Colton when he sets out with Tris to find the elf’s missing brother, taking Colton behind the Wall for the first time.

Review: I have not had chance to read any books by this author, so I was a bit leery at what to expect. The cover and title were what caught my attention. Talk about a quirky lift to me. However once I started reading I realized that I missed what had happened in another book. There was no sign that this was a series so I had no clue about it. I felt like I missed the first kiss.

As for the story it was well written and pretty damn hot, but also long-winded. Once I started reading it felt like there was not hot sex other than fantasies between them. I almost put the story down to read later, because it just felt off to me. However, I am glad that I did read it because it was a funny, quirky and cute story that was very entertaining.

Nick was the manager of the Irish pub and his sights are set on Fatboy, their bouncer. On Valentine’s Day Davis had kissed Nick. Which was bizarre to say the least, because as far as Nick had known the man was straight.

Since that sexy kiss, all Nick can think about and dream about is Davis. There are some very heated looks between these two and some hot groping going on but that is about it. It would seem people were out to cock block them both. They couldn’t even get the same days off. Nick didn’t ever think anything would ever happen, that is until someone else took special interest in Nick.

Davis has been falling in love with Nick from the moment he set eyes on him. However his ass was in the closet because of his father. But when a sexy guy from a team starts flirting with his man, Davis has to make a choice. Things about to heat up.

Now for me there were several issues that were bugging me on this story. For one, these two couldn’t manage to get it on at any time, it wasn’t like they worked twenty-four/seven. It just doesn’t come off right.

Then Davis is scared of his daddy, I mean please the man is close to being thirty and has a job, what the hell is with the scared of coming out of the closet.

The fun part of the story was the jealous behavior, idiot band members, and feisty little people. They made the story quite entertaining. I loved the whole bar fight.

Now overall, the story was very entertaining, but too long for me to really love. It just came off farfetched. Half way through I wanted to just put the book down and walk away. However I was glad that I hadn’t but it was close.

The characters were very loveable and feisty as hell, which made for a better story. I have to admit though that this would not be a story that I would read more than once.

Review: This is part of an ongoing series that needs to be read in order.

It is a mystery and suspense that really has a bit of the paranormal in it. Which for me topped this book over the charts. It is well written with a lot of depth that makes it an amazing story. It doesn’t let you down half way, but keeps your attention all the way through.

Russ and Colin have been together for a while now, however Russ seems to think it should be going wrong. It seems that he can see pretty well into other people’s lives but not his own. His new case involves a family that can make a crazy family look sane. He is trying to find out who is vandalizing the Ellis ranch and he is coming up with quite a bit of answers.

I love Russ and hope to hear his story for a long time from now. He is like how you want a man to be. Sexy, best attitude, honest, straightforward and a damn good psychic. Now I am never much for mysteries, but the fact that this has romance added in makes it perfect. I also love the twist that this story has.

When I first read Lloyd  A Meeker’s books, I was captivated from the start and this is no different. I can actually see myself reading it more than once.

It has reached my favorite list and I look forward to reading more by this amazing author.

Review: Some secrets should stay buried…

Imagine if you will, having a few drinks then accompanying the gorgeous guy at the bar back up to his room for some mind-blowing sex. Then waking up in a park, in the arms of an Angel statue, buck ass naked with no memory of how you got there. That is just a bad day all around. It gets better though, when said gorgeous guy goes missing.

Zach Taylor is at the top of his game at his firm. He’s young, successful and single, has the world at his fingertips. That lovely evening I just mentioned leaves him frazzled and fraying, trying to remember. Things go from bad to worse when questioning eyes fall on him. And then an old lady with a box and a couple of tears sends Zach down a spiraling staircase toward a past he has only briefly remembered in his dreams.

Nate Shaw is big, brooding, sexy and oh so charming. His blue eyes and blinding white teeth go from menacing to sexy too quickly for my liking, but it definitely got Zach’s attention. Hold up in a basement, waiting out a snow storm, the two keep warm the old-fashioned way. Shared body heat. The thing is, Nate either has the best or the worst timing imaginable. He blows into Zach’s life right when everything is falling apart.

Wow. This book kind of blew my mind. I opened it with the intention to read a chapter or two between loads of laundry and, two hours later I read ‘The End’ and my mind is still spinning.

Knight just took me on a journey through the twisted mind of a mad man, and the uncertain mind of another that thinks he’s going mad. I figured a couple of things out early on, I wouldn’t say predictable, I’m just an avid crime story watcher so the clues were screaming at me. That being said, I have to wonder if Knight didn’t leave those clues on purpose, bread crumbs if you will, to take my attention off the truth.

This was a murder mystery full of twists and turns. Right about the time you think you have it all figured out, you really don’t. So well written that even at the very end, two pages left to go, there was another twist that had me holding my breath. Be warned, there is some darkness in this story, murder, madness, mayhem and pure evil. Knight’s imagination is both fantastic, and terrifying.

So if you are looking for a book that you can sink your teeth into, a book that will hold your attention from start to finish, a story so engrossing you can’t look away as you read through your fingers… well then, this book will certainly do.

Review: From what I understood is this is A.C. Burch’s debut novel. Now I am usually a bit off when it comes to new books and new authors. I never know what to expect and it makes me a bit untrusting. However I was amazed by the gift this author has. The characters were well-developed and captivating. The story was well-developed and the descriptions were just out there. I was captivated from the moment I start reading and my attention was kept till the end.

Although I was a just a bit creeped out. I was never much for even a touch of thriller that is for sure. The romantic touch, the mystery given, the suspense and the adventure was a big hit. These guys just hit my radar that is for sure.

Marc left New York when his boyfriend got abusive. In fact he just ran for his life. He is a writer or he wants to be one I guess I would say. He is a little hottie that is for sure. So when Lola hires him he is bit off. Now the start of this book sets the tone for me. He is afraid of his boyfriend Brandon. I got that off the bat.

Then there is the humor in parts of it.

For example when the old lady loses her groceries, he goes and saves them and she ends up drinking his hot chocolate. That was a blast. I got a big kick out of that. However Dorrie gives him a lead on a job and a place to live. It would seem Lola is lonely and pays for someone to just keep her company. What a gig I would love to get.

Now Marc’s story is heart breaking. What Brandon put him through makes me want to skin him alive. Then there is Cole’s story of heart ache and I just wanted to weep. There are so many heart aching stories that I had to put the book up for a few minutes. I just hated knowing what they went through. These two are just about the perfect couple to me. They go through so much and help not each other but their friends. I love the mysteries that they find and try to figure out. I had such a blast with this story.

Like I said it has a mixture of feelings that pull at you. I was amazed by this book although it does seem just a bit drawn out. I think had it been not so detailed I might have been able to stick with it all in one sitting. However it wore me out trying to figure out what was going to happen next.

I would definitely recommend this book and I look forward to the next story.

Review: This is the second book in the Taking Shield series. I loved the entire book. It was heart stopping at times and yet heartbreaking at others.

Bennet is sent on a mission that goes horribly wrong. But before that Joss, his longtime partner wants him to quit the military. I really felt for Jose, understanding his need for his partner but at the same time I understood Bennet’s position.

This book provides plenty of action and adventure among a well written story that takes the reader on a deadly mission. I was on the edge of my seat reading this book and holding my breath at times. It’s truly a wonderful story that I thoroughly enjoyed. Tough some things were confusing I still figured out what the author was trying to say.

I really liked the detailed descriptions of Telnos, even though it did not sound like a good place to be I imagined what it actually looked like. One of the things I did not like was the possibility of a relationship with a woman in a future. I sincerely hope this is not the case as I only read m/m.

Overall it was really good tale of adventure and danger set in a sci-fi world, though there was not much sci-fi.

Great read.
