Blurb:  Econ student Hansen Marks has been hot for Sam MacLeod since they first bonded over their secret superpowers – literally hot, since Hansen can produce fire from thin air. But soccer star Sam was always covered in girls, so Hansen kept his attraction in the closet and convinced himself that “best friends” was better than nothing.

When Sam’s electrical powers freak out in public, Hansen has a sinking feeling they’ve been spotted by unfriendly eyes. While dealing with the fallout, Sam’s emotional dependency on Hansen forces their mutual attraction to the surface. Even after they give in, Hansen is afraid to admit he’s in love. Sam doesn’t really like guys, he’s just feeling vulnerable…right?

Just as their nights are heating up, it becomes clear Sam’s electrical explosion was seen, and now someone has it in for both of them. They’ll have to save each other, both from the haters and from their own fears, if they want to maintain equilibrium.

Publisher’s Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: male/male sexual practices.

Review:  This book was… Quite different, frankly. I know these types of books are out there, but this is the first M/M book I’ve read that has a superpower theme. I was a bit apprehensive, of course, just like the way people are when trying out something new. But a lot of things worked here for me – and I’m not even sure if I can list down all the reasons why I liked this book a lot. Because honestly? Some part of me still isn’t sure what I liked so much about this.

What I do know is the fact that Hansen was an incredible narrator. His voice is really wonderful; it’s casual and simple but his personality really pulls through from the pages. He’s dorky, but he doesn’t push any stereotypes. I thought his explanations about equilibrium were pretty fitting – they held my attention, something I can’t really say about game theory and economics in general. Sam was a cool character, too. These two are definitely interesting characters, and from the first page I already rooted for Hansen and Sam to get together. They pretty much do so early in the book, but of course they have their issues to straighten out.

However, there are no huge misunderstandings that force a rift to grow in between these two young men. I liked that a lot. For once, we have protagonists who actually communicate – albeit they do so in their own silly way. Sometimes their conversations come in late, but these guys aren’t fast in making conclusions. They did have their own insecurities, though. These same insecurities made way for a considerate amount of minor angst (which, in turn, actually caused a lump to form in my throat in some scenes), but nothing was overdone. Their chemistry was absolutely great! This is essentially a friends-to-lovers type of story, and there is an easy camaraderie between these two. Their friendship isn’t compromised by their new relationship (although Hansen seems to think so). Also, I found myself not really minding Nessa at all. I liked her, in some ways, and an author who can write an ex-girlfriend whom I don’t find annoying is always a good author.

Like Ami said in her review, I could have benefited more from more world-building. I couldn’t understand terms like “EMF” (which I eventually figured out was electromagnetic field, or something) and “sleeper” – plus we don’t really know why these awakened people have powers, other than the mention of an organ in passing. I also would’ve appreciated a bit more elaboration on what happened with Uncle Neil and on the sleepers who go witch-hunting. What do these witch-hunters do and how bad can their actions be? I am of the understanding, though, that there will be more stories set in the same universe, and hopefully we’ll get more answers by then.

So, overall, I enjoyed this book a lot. It’s quite different from the normal stuff – which sets this apart and makes it memorable. It combines a lot of unusual aspects, like superpowers and game theory, and actually makes it work. I’ll gladly read it again at some point.

Blurb:  Do you believe in love at first sight? Jonathan does: the moment he glimpsed the striking David from afar, he was hooked, but David disappeared before they could meet.

More than three years later, Jonathan gets a second chance—he and David finally meet face to face, and the two fall into a passionate love affair. David turns Jonathan’s previously lonely life into a fairy tale, giving him more than he ever imagined. But the past few years have been hard for Jonathan, and he’s terrified that his young son and scandalous past will be too much for David. If they’re going to build a future together, they’re both going to have to dig deep: David for the courage to share himself in a way he’s never considered… and Jonathan for the strength to tell the truth.

Review:  This was a true pleasure to read… again… for the third time. Cardeno C.’s Home series always warms the heart and this latest addition is no different. You don’t have to read the series in order, as they are independent books but sometimes we briefly meet a new character who later has their own book.

Jonathan is naively innocent even after his shameful past; he fell instantly in love with David from across a room and then moved to New York hoping to track him down. Over three years and a son later he moves back to his hometown having given up on his dream and after being accosted in a bar he is rescued by none other than his dream man. David is fascinated by the beautiful young man who he rescues and they embark on a beautiful love affair, where David discovers things about himself, thanks to his friends, and Jonathan is forced to reveal a secret before he is ready.

The interaction between Jonathan and his family is nice to see and even when he is inadvertently outed to his parents they take it in stride. David takes it all in stride, meeting Jonathan’s family and his son, even when someone seems determined to end his relationship with the man he adores. Watching these two men fall in love, get to know each other and be a family unit is wonderful and brings a smile to your face.

This is a beautiful, sweet love story that warms your heart and makes you want more. If you want love, romance (with hot sex thrown in) and a happy ever after… then this is for you.

Blurb:   After the one man he trusted disappeared, it took Law Connor ten years to take a chance on another relationship. Trouble is, right about the time he’s finally ready to let go of the past, the past stages a hostile takeover.

Back when they were teens, Styx was the boy with no memory. He and Law had each other’s backs until he was forced to leave to keep Law safe. Now a CIA agent, he’s finally discovered who he is, and why he’s a hunted man.

Detective Paulo McMannus has almost succeeded in helping Law forget his lost love when Styx comes plowing back into their lives. No way is Paulo giving up his lover without a fight.

Suddenly Law finds himself on the run with Styx, the man who can still bring him to his knees…and with Paulo, the man who brought him back to life. The worst part? He can’t choose between them. And it’s getting harder to remember why he should.

Product Warnings:  Contains rough language, rougher sex and warriors who fall hard for one another.

Review:  Law Conner is now in a fix, he has just decided to let someone new into his heart, when the man that he has loved for more than sixteen years waltzes back into his life. And not only does he waltz back into his life but he brings trouble with it that endangers not only Law’s life but also the man he is falling for as well. Paulo McMannus is finally where he wants to be – in Laws bed, in his dreams and creeping into his heart, when the ex-lover returns in a hail of bullets. Styx has come back to protect Law, he left him in the first place to protect him but that didn’t go as planned because now his enemy is after Law.

The storyline is pretty cool in this book as Styx can’t remember the first 16yrs of his life but then around the age of 20 he gets a reminder of the past that sets him running from Law. When he returns to save Law he has to save Paulo as well, we then have trips to safe houses, assassins hunting them and these three strong men trying to figure out if a relationship between them could work.

I think this quite a good ménage as the men fit together nicely. They work out the dynamics of a relationship that works for them and it’s not an uneven balance. They even start to stray into D/s but nothing too heavy.

So my recommendation to you is if you love your men strong, hot and dangerous; your plot filled with danger and suspense; and your sex rough, scorching and slightly kinky then this is the book for you.

Blurb:  Six years ago, Jeff Beachum comforted a frightened teenager outside an HIV treatment clinic, and Collin Waters has remembered his kindness ever since. Now, after six years of crushing on the kind, brown-eyed sweetheart of his dreams, Collin is feeling adult and together enough to make his move. Too bad fate, which has never been kind to Jeff, has something else in mind.

Jeff’s life had fallen completely apart before that long-ago day and it isn’t much better now. Jeff has toughened up, become self-reliant, been the funny guy his friends turn to, the one who gives advice and comfort when needed. But every phantom from Jeff’s past is about to come out to haunt him, and the family Jeff has staked his future on isn’t in such great shape either. Collin is more than a starry-eyed kid, and it’s a good thing, because Jeff’s going to need all the help he can get. No one knows better than Jeff that life can be too short to turn your back on honest love, and that living happily is the best promise of all.

Review: Characters from the previous Promise books are in this one as supporting roles but are very involved in Jeff and Collin’s story.

Jeff Beachum’s life fell apart first when he diagnosed with HIV and then again not long after when his lover was killed in the war, he builds his life up again only for it to start to fall apart again when his dead lover’s brother comes looking for him. Collin Waters lived with a devil may care attitude after he saw his father die of a heart attack when he was five, he only smartened up when at just turned 18 he was diagnosed with HIV. 6 years later these two men are brought together and Collin is determined to have his chance with Jeff, no matter how hard Jeff try’s to push him away. It’s by no means easy sailing between their HIV positive status, health concerns, and past emotional trauma along with the worry for their friends and the problem of Jeff’s family.

This is another fantastic story from Amy Lane. This story is more than just about romance it’s about friendship, family, loyalty, hope and prays. It’s about who you consider family and not just being family because you were born into it.

This book will have you chuckling, have you sniffling and have you cheering these men on, so my personal recommendation is… clear the weekend, go buy this book, some chocolates and wine… oh don’t forget the tissues.

Blurb:  Joey King likes the spotlight. He’s worked hard for over twenty years to reach a pinnacle of success and to achieve a cult following, and now he’s the big star in one of Broadway’s most successful shows… But when he’s not on stage performing, Joey King is an attractive gay man just turned forty who is terrified of growing older.

On the last night of his show, Joey overhears people snickering about his age and it leaves him questioning his future as an actor- he’s terrified of becoming a joke, and being laughed at.

In a state of confusion, Joey travels to Chicago in the middle of the night to be with his longtime partner of twenty years, Ned Stevens, who is there on a business trip. Ned has always been the one constant strength in Joey’s life.

But when Joey reaches Chicago, he is met with a devastating shock.

Joey buys a one-way ticket to Florence to recover. There he meets handsome young Antonio, who is almost half Joey’s age. Joey initially protests, but Antonio finally throws him down on the terrace and takes him in ways Joey never imagined were possible. Antonio does things to Joey that Joey’s ex-partner, Ned, never did in the twenty years they were together. But more than that, Antonio introduces Joey to the kind of love and passion he never dared to believe existed.

But no matter how many times Antonio professes his love, Joey isn’t sure he’ll ever be able to embrace love or to trust anyone again. Will Antonio figure out a way to prove his love for Joey? And will Joey ever find enough room in his heart to love Antonio as much as Antonio loves him?

Review:  After a horrifying event in Joey’s 1st year in New York Joey craves the security that Ned gives him, he is devastated by Ned’s betrayal and flees to Florence to decide what to do with his life next. When he meets Antonio he is shown carnal delights that he isn’t sure he really wants.

Joey comes across as very repressed sexually and really truly believes that Antonio could only want him for his money and his fame, he is extremely cynical as he is nearly 20yrs older than Antonio. Antonio wants Joey for himself and seems to really love him but can’t convince Joey of that fact because of his job. I felt sad for Joey as he really doesn’t know what to do and doesn’t want to admit to his feelings as he could get hurt again and you can feel Antonio’s frustration at being treated like a child and not being taken seriously.

This is a very good story of an older/younger relationship that eventually does have a happy ending.

Blurb:  Dru and Thom have been together for three years, and despite Thom’s occasional bouts of insecurity and Dru’s fear of rejection, their relationship is rock solid. Then Dru’s long-lost friend, Skye, suddenly reappears, shocking them both. Skye suffered years of inconceivable abuse before escaping it, and while he’s back on track, he has nowhere else to go as he begins to rebuild his life.

Dru, Thom, and Skye each want to belong somewhere, to belong with someone – or someones – with no fear of being hurt, set aside, or left behind. It’s a challenge with daunting odds, especially for Skye, who’s never loved before. He’s determined not to come between his two friends who so clearly belong together, and it will be up to Dru and Thom to conquer their fears and convince Skye to stay.

Review:  I took interest in this story because it had a recovering character. What is unique about By Any Other Name is the fact that we get to know the character through his final stages of recovery – which is, in this case, Skye’s incorporation and integration into the modern world – which wipes out the prospect of unnecessary drama. Too often I encounter books where so much happens, both internally and externally, that the drama just seems forced. (In fact, there was a discussion about too much angst in a review site a week ago.) Thankfully, Tia Fielding’s first novel is a “quiet” one – no major angst that seems contrived, just a couple of moments where we are reminded of what Skye has been through.

To be honest, the abuse seemed a bit too much at first. When I read all about Skye’s past, the combination of it plus the abuse he underwent seemed a bit too tragic, even for an unlucky person. Yet it wasn’t really highlighted; while it did cast its own shadows in the lives of our three protagonists, it didn’t overtake the story and, like I said before, didn’t cause any melodrama. The conflict here is purely internal, and there’s really no room for poorly characterized villains that are flat and very much reminiscent of mad scientists. I appreciated that. I don’t particularly like antagonists that are just so crazy and unbelievable.

I do have a couple of niggles though, ones that made me falter between three stars and four. First, at times it seemed like the affection was concentrated on Dru. Sure, more often than not he is described as a high maintenance lover, but I think Thom and Skye’s love for him overshadowed the growing affection among the three of them at times. I’ll admit that I was looking forward to Thom and Skye’s interaction with each other more than anything, but to me their feelings for each other fell a bit flat. Of course, that might just be me setting the bar a bit high for them both, but it still disappointed me a bit. Kara was… I don’t know how to describe her. I got the feeling that the author wanted her to be seen as a supportive person, and I did feel that, but some of her actions ticked me off a bit. I didn’t dislike her, but I didn’t feel any warm and fuzzy feelings for her either.

However, setting aside these qualms, I liked this book. Again, it’s a quiet novel with no big and tragic scenes that run rampant in a lot of books. I’ll probably be reading something by Tia Fielding again.

Blurb:  After leaving trouble behind, Jackson Way has found a home on the Triple-R, but he hasn’t found that one perfect horse – and men are pretty thin on the ground as well. Jack’s got a once-a-year hookup with a carnival worker, but it’s been quite some time since the carnival’s been by. When the ranch owner’s nephew comes to the Triple-R to work, Jackson has to admit, Blair McRae can tempt a man.

But Jackson’s not the only one with a past to make a man skittish, and Blair’s not willing to risk his bruised heart if Jackson’s not ready to let go of his past. Jackson had to work hard, be patient, and let go of the past to get his one perfect horse – is he willing to go to the same lengths to hold on to that one perfect man?

Review:  I liked this. It’s nice to see characters defying stereotypes planted in this genre. Jack wasn’t a total alpha male – in fact he was quite submissive in bed – despite the general stereotype that seems to appoint ranchers (and the older man in the relationship) to be the dominant one. Blair wasn’t a wide-eyed kid despite his considerably young age; he’s not a blushing virgin and he’s seen his fair share of the dark side of the planet.

I also liked how the horses were incorporated into this story. They weren’t just animals that Jack and Blair worked with; they were separate beings with names and I really enjoyed reading all about Sirius’s antics. What a cute colt. He’ll definitely be a handful, but I do know that he’s Jack’s horse.

Through bad introductions and an awkward and fumbling “getting to know you” stage and a (somewhat) expected turn of events, these guys found love. Definitely recommended if you’re in need of a quick and fluffy read. I’m looking forward to reading Tia Fielding’s new novel that was just released yesterday.

Blurb:  Sheriff Scott Dupree’s got more problems than he can handle. He’s alpha of his small werewolf pack and coming up for re-election as sheriff in a year. On top of this, his mother is casting love spells to find Scott a mate. It’s all Scott can do to keep the town and pack under control, let alone his urges to mate.

Ted Canedo is openly gay, a disgraced ex-cop from New Orleans. His patrol partner was killed on duty and Ted took the blame for taking protection money from the store owner to save his partner’s wife and kids’ grief. No one knew Ted was in love with his partner, not even his partner. Having him die in Ted’s arms killed something inside Ted too.

When the moon is full and Scott’s momma works her magic, Ted’s erotic dreams and his work as a PI bring him to St. Jerome and sexy, straight Scott. Scott’s stunned to learn his wolf is gay and wants to mate with Ted. Ted refuses to become involved with a straight man, much less a werewolf, terrified to risk his heart again.

Especially if it he has to watch Scott fight to the death for his right to claim Ted as his mate.

Review: I enjoyed this book and thank Lynn Lorenz for producing a shifter story where both mates try to fight the pull and that made it enjoyable to read.

Scott is disbelieving of his Maman, she’s cast a love spell to bring him his perfect mate, only it’s back fired as she never specified the sex of his mate. Ted is gob smacked, can this really be happening to him again, he’s falling for another straight man and he finds out that it’s not of his own choice.

I loved this book as both these men do try to fight their attraction, they both try to be reasonable, and they both try to convince themselves that the spell has been broken and that they can get on with their lives without the other, we can see it’s a losing battle and that’s why I enjoyed it so much.

Yes, I know some of you will say ‘but it’s gay for you’ but the thing is it isn’t.   Just because Scott is straight doesn’t mean his wolf has to be and what a wolf wants he gets, so Scott had to man up and accept the fact that he was gay, just because he never had the urge for a man before makes no difference.

All the various characters in this book are well developed and each seemed to add something more to the story from Darcy the artist to Billy the deputy, hopefully we will be seeing more of all the characters.

So I say read and enjoy.

Blurb:  Liam Wade is facing the biggest change in his life since marrying his best friend, Janelle, and adopting her daughter. Janelle has long since passed on, losing the battle to live a few days after her daughter is born, leaving Liam a father, in need of finding a mother for his daughter Emma. He’s rich, successful, and Leigh is the perfect, approved, wife for him. Before he settles down to give his daughter the best family he can, he wants one week away, to think. Just to make sure that he can leave half of himself hidden and marry without love, because Liam has one big problem in all of this — he’s gay.

Micah Adamson is the owner of a vineyard in Rochester NY, and has yet to find the partner he knows is out there for him. He believes in love and wants forever, and one day he knows he will find his ‘forever’ man. He attends a wine festival in Santa Monica, seven nights in a beautiful hotel on the beach.

Micah wants to show that love between two men includes affection, understanding, and can be forever. Will he make Liam see sense?

Review: Micah is a workaholic who is bullied into taking a vacation/conference by his well-meaning family. Liam is taking a week for himself to be himself and to find himself away from the influence of his family.

Liam is positive that the only type of relationship that can happen between two men is hot, hard sex. He really does believe that he will never get the type of relationship that he craves and the security and family that his daughter needs with a man. Micah is tired of men who either want his money or think monogamy is over-rated.

I thought this story was incredibly touching as a father tries to do what is best for his daughter. You can feel his need to do right by his daughter; to give her the best upbringing that he can, even if it means that he sacrifices his own happiness. You feel incredibly sad for both these men as all they want is to be loved for themselves, not what they have or their name. The confrontation between Liam and his dad was good, very good and I was impressed that it was realistic without screaming matches or punches being thrown. I loved the ending because it’s not, ‘they throw their arms around each other and declare undying love for each other’, It’s a we’ll see how this goes but I hope it lasts forever.

It’s not a happy ever after… but it’s a beginning.

Blurb:  Hunter Krause knows better than anyone that running a ranch is hard work. Wranglers are hard to find, and even with Hunter’s foreman and entire extended family on hand, the busy ranch is constantly short-handed. So when horses go missing, Hunter’s brother-in-law hires a man Hunter would never have considered: Grant Jarreau, a man Hunter can’t forgive for leaving Hunter’s best friend Gable after an incapacitating accident.

Grant quickly fits in, befriending Hunter’s sister and making himself invaluable. Despite Hunter’s misgivings, he can’t quite control his body’s reactions to Grant, and he isn’t sure what to do about it. Then Grant saves Hunter’s young nephew from drowning and one thankful kiss opens doors Hunter never knew existed.

While Hunter and Grant tentatively move toward a relationship, the family’s in an uproar, the ranch is struggling, they can’t figure out what happened to the horses, and to top it all off, Grant is hiding something. Can Hunter learn to trust Grant, or will the turmoil already tearing up his family claim another victim?

Review:  You know I read the first book Rain and Clouds and loved it, so I was looking forward to this one as well but My God what were you thinking casting Grant as Hunter’s love interest.

This book seems to run parallel to Rain And Clouds but there are mistakes during the times that the books coincide and that is really annoying, Grant is the big baddie in Rain And Clouds, he was Gable’s lover who ran out on him when Gable was injured, he also slept with anything that didn’t move fast enough and oh so helpfully slept with a married woman because she wanted a baby.

In this book he is a misunderstood generous man who made a few mistakes, never cheated on Gable, try’s to blame Gable for what happened between them and he’s just helping his friends out when he sleeps with them to get them pregnant behind their husbands backs. I can’t stand this character because he has no redeemable qualities no matter how I look at it.

Now Hunter on the other hand is a great character, he has hidden his ‘gay’ side from everyone even himself, he finds himself attracted to one of the hands, acts on it and then needs to come to terms with what they had done. He then explores his feelings and continues to act on it while still trying to deny that he is gay. He also has to deal with his family’s dramatics and a revelation from his ex-girlfriend.

I disliked Callie and the mother of Grant’s children just on principle, as both these women find it acceptable to sleep with another man behind their husbands backs just to get pregnant.

This book would have been a lot better if Grant was not in it and Hunter actually met a man he deserved and not the sleaze that is Grant.

My honest opinion is this… stick with Rain and Clouds because honestly any decent human being will be disgusted with some of the characters morals in this one.

From the Publisher:  Cole Kenjiro McGinnis, ex-cop and PI, is trying to get over the shooting death of his lover when a supposedly routine investigation lands in his lap. Investigating the apparent suicide of a prominent Korean businessman’s son proves to be anything but ordinary, especially when it introduces Cole to the dead man’s handsome cousin, Kim Jae-Min.

Jae-Min’s cousin had a dirty little secret, the kind that Cole has been familiar with all his life and that Jae-Min is still hiding from his family. The investigation leads Cole from tasteful mansions to seedy lover’s trysts to Dirty Kiss, the place where the rich and discreet go to indulge in desires their traditional-minded families would rather know nothing about.

It also leads Cole McGinnis into Jae-Min’s arms, and that could be a problem. Jae-Min’s cousin’s death is looking less and less like a suicide and Jae-Min is looking more and more like a target. Cole has already lost one lover to violence—he’s not about to lose Jae-Min too.

My Review:  Rhys Ford had me hooked from the first chapter of this book and I picked it up every chance I had for the 2 days it took me to finish reading it. I am a big fan of M/M romances as long as there is plenty of plot, action and character development to go along with the romance! Dirty Kiss was a perfect balance of all the things I love of this genre. There is a solid storyline, likeable characters, AND steamy sex scenes!

Cole takes on the case of Kim Hyun-Shik’s apparent suicide as a favor to his police officer brother, Mike. While he goes into the investigation thinking there won’t be much to learn, he is in for quite a surprise. Still trying to recover from the shooting death of his lover 3 years before, Cole is quite unprepared for the feelings that pop up for Jae-Min, the victim’s cousin. As the investigation progresses and Jae-Min finds himself in danger, Cole falls hard and has to work quickly to uncover the truth about Kim Hyun-Shik’s death and the role that the prominent Asian gay club Dirty Kiss has to play in the case.

The author’s writing style is smooth and witty. I found myself smiling over the character’s interactions and quickly turning each page to find out where the plot would head next. Ms. Ford does a great job of teasing the reader with bits and pieces of the character’s back stories…giving you just enough to make you want to keep reading to find out more. She provided a wonderful look at homosexuality in Asian culture and gave the reader a real understanding of what it means to be gay in a Korean family. While Cole is part Japanese he has been raised 100% American and doesn’t always understand the family obligations and need for secrecy that Jae-Min feels so deeply. The secondary characters are all unique and given individual personalities of their own.

The sex in the story is definitely hot but fits into the story quite nicely. The plot and characters are well developed before the sex enters in and each encounter actually contributes something to the character development. This is not sex just for the sake of sticking in some hot and heavy scene.

Without giving away any important bits of the story, I will say I wanted MORE out of the ending. While it definitely fits my personal requirement of ‘happily ever after’ I found myself turning the page and asking “What? That’s it?” Maybe Ms. Ford has a sequel planned so we can take the characters and their relationship a little bit further?

Blurb:  Hopeless at hunting, Prince Albert has been sent into the woods by his impulsively cruel father, required to kill a stag before he can return. Luckily he has Manning, a quiet and overly competent bodyguard, to rely on. But the familiarity and evident desire growing between prince and bodyguard shame Manning into revealing a secret: the king is using Albert as bait in a political game with a neighboring power, and it’s Manning’s job to lead him into danger.

Angry and betrayed, but unwilling to endanger Manning, Albert insists that his bodyguard go through with the plan. To save Albert and win back his trust, Manning will have to disobey two sets of orders and prove he has the canniness to survive in the royal court.

Will Manning set duty aside to save the prince he has come to love?

Review:  I was really looking forward to reading this book as it seemed to fall into my favorite genre unfortunately it was not paranormal *sigh* but it is historical and fantasy so I am still happy.

Prince Albert is suspicious and cautious, he knows he is a disappointment to his father, he knows also that he doesn’t match up to his cousin’s hunting and sporting achievements. John Manning is charged with getting the Prince to a certain location, but he starts to feel sorry and then attraction for the young Prince and doesn’t know if he can go through with his orders. The two share secrets and the Prince feels betrayed.

I felt sorry for these two as they are both in a position that there is no way out of, but both are willing to sacrifice themselves for the other. This is a sweet, nice light read and hopefully we will see more from Prince Albert and Manning.

Blurb:  Ed Maurer’s life would be fine if he could just get Laurie Parker off his back. He’s bounced back, more or less, from the neck injury that permanently benched his semi-pro football career, and he volunteers now at a local community center. It’s just that every time he turns around, that damn professional dancer is in his way, hating Ed right back. But when a bargain Ed strikes at the center lands him as an assistant in Laurie’s ballroom dancing class, their perceptions of each other turns upside down. Both Ed and Laurie have heartbreak in their pasts, but somehow dancing together eases their individual pain. For Ed, dancing with Laurie becomes a way to reconnect with his body after losing football. For Laurie, partnering with Ed has erased some of his fear of performing and brought back joy to a sport he wasn’t sure he could ever truly love again.

As Laurie and Ed lose themselves in dance, their lives continue to spin around them: Ed’s injury makes it clear he’s nowhere near recovery, Laurie feels the pressure by friends and family to perform once more, and the community center that has become such an important part of both their worlds threatens to close. Alone, they haven’t had the strength or spirit to face what life has hurled at them. But as the turns of their personal paths lead them into the arms of love, Ed and Laurie begin to think that if they dance this dance together, they might be able to succeed.

Publisher’s Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: exhibitionism/voyeurism, male/male sexual practices.

Review:  What can I say about this book?  Wow?   It’s sweet? It’s romantic and I didn’t want it to end? Ed Maurer is still recovering physically and mentally from an injury that could have seen the end of his life, it did see the end of his semipro football career. Laurie Parker is still hiding after the disaster that was his first professional ballroom dancing competition.

These two men do not get along at all at first, and it is fascinating and a privilege to watch this relationship develop from dislike to love. They each offer the other something that neither of them knew they needed; support, encouragement, strength and love. Watching these two come together in dance is incredible, everything they do together is beautiful, whether it is dance, kisses, lovemaking or even their arguing and making up. Laurie is there for Ed as he faces changes in his life, and Ed is encouraging Laurie as he makes changes in his life.

I will be honest, I could go on for hours about these two but I really don’t want to ruin the book for anyone because anything else I might say would only take away from the experience of reading this book for you. This book is now going in my “read again” list.

So my recommendation is if you are a true romantic than this is the book for you.

Blurb:  What kind of man drives a bulletproof Mercedes and carries a high-powered pistol in the glove compartment along with his boyhood teddy bear? Candy G does, that’s who. Once the exclusive attorney for the most powerful drug lord in San Antonio, he turned his back on Teirso Flores and walked away. But at what price?

Moving on with his life despite the threat of Teirso’s revenge, Candy meets gorgeous, streetwise Carlos Alvarez, and thus begins a passionate love affair rife with danger, secrets, and specters from the past that just won’t let go. When truths are revealed, will the one thing that brought their worlds together be the test that strengthens their love or the knife that severs their bond forever?

Review:  I didn’t expect to like this book – but I did. Let me start by saying that it started at a huge disadvantage – I didn’t read the blurb… and I never volunteer to read a story wrote in first person. But it didn’t take too long and I was hooked right through to the end.

Introducing himself, you meet Candy, the former attorney of a drug trafficker, who’s drawn to little Carlos – a seemingly downtrodden but sweet guy.  Candy is pretty open with us about his tough and powerful exterior and the hidden romantic inside.  Now from where we come into the story it might seem like the two fall into love super quick… but you’re forced to acknowledge that they’ve been circling the attraction for nearly a year – so it works. You are a bit overwhelmed with love, love, love. It’s too perfect, but not to worry – along comes trouble.  Ahh, angst (my favorite), in the form of lies, intrigue and danger, come along to save us from the boredom that belies perfection.

It is a good story, told with a refreshing voice and was rounded out with sweet lovin’.

Blurb:  Twenty years old Richard Giles is living on the streets of London in the year 1660, scrounging for food and shelter the best he is able after the closure of his place of employment and death of his mother.

After being given shelter for the night by a kindly old man Richard is back on the streets when an unfortunate incident brings him into contact with a man who may just change the direction of his life, for the better.

Review:  This is a rag to riches story and I kinda liked it.   Richard is down on his luck and after the kindness of an old man; he feels his luck just might be changing. The Duke of Orleans takes pity on the poor man who gets soaked by his carriage and it’s the start of something beautiful.

Now I have to say it’s not historically accurate but I for one didn’t care, its fiction so I was quite happy to read about a down and out young man who captured the heart of The Duke of Orleans.

This book gave me a warm good feeling and I would recommend this book for anyone who wants a nice light read with a happy ending.

Blurb:  In the jaguar clan, the Goddess and seasonal moon dance could choose and bless a mating.  Lovers Sebastian Haywood and Raphael Salazar don’t want to risk the chance of a mismatch after they fall for a newcomer. When Sebastian locates a lost courtship law to use before the Fire Moon, which overrides the seasonal dance, they declare courtship, offering a trinity union to Hillary Kearney. Unable to consummate, the toms introduce their innocent female to other sensual delights their pairing can offer.

Review:  M/M/F is not my favorite genre because I usually always end up reading one that puts me off them for 6months before I read a blurb that intrigues me enough to try again.  This one did and I am glad that I decided to read it.

Sebastian and Raphael have been a committed couple for decades; they have been looking for a third and have finally found her and the means to claim her.  Nothing will stand in their way. Hillary transferred from her father’s clan a year ago and she is supposed to fulfill his wishes, but it doesn’t quite work out when the one her father wishes her to mate with mates with another.

The courtship that Sebastian and Raphael put into effect sweep Hillary off her feet and Hillary falls for them rapidly but she is cautious as her father’s warning rings in her mind. The scenes between these three are explicit but sensual and loving as they prepare for the Fire Moon Dance and the Goddesses Blessing.

So an enjoyable read that has some genuine old fashioned courtship and romance.  But just because its old fashioned doesn’t mean that they can’t twist the rules a bit (wink, wink, nudge, nudge).

Blurb:  (Loose Id) In Afghanistan, all the easy answers are wrong and the best-laid plans don’t stand a chance. A tight-knit band of USMC scout-snipers, enraged when one of their number murders another, is hell-bent on seeing justice. They kidnap Zarak Momand, a burnt-out Navy hospital corpsman, and blackmail him to be their guide into Momand land and to find a loophole in nanawatai, the Afghan code of hospitality. They don’t tell him their target — a deserter — murdered Zarak’s estranged baby brother.

Zarak has lost touch with his brothers, his heritage, and his religion, anything that might inspire true passion. Code-named Zulu and coerced to hunt down a deserter, he must navigate the ambiguities of fourth generation warfare, where there are no front lines and where the moral high ground shifts from situation to situation.

In the end, it’s just Zulu and Oscar, a sexually compelling cipher who embodies so much of the Pakhtun Way. But is Oscar’s rough passion a betrayal between brothers?

Publisher’s Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: male/male sexual practices.

Review:  I will be honest and say I really wasn’t sure about this book when I read the blurb but the book gripped me from the first chapter.  Zarak (Zulu) is a man who is caught between two cultures and struggles with what he was taught as a boy (grew up in an Afghan region until he was about 10yrs old) and what he learnt as a man. We also get snippets of Zarak’s childhood in flashbacks so we get to understand him better and the culture he was taught as a boy.  Oscar is a Native American from the Tohono o’odham tribe, he is a big, physically strong man with a Texan accent and that’s really all you learn about him except he has a cool sniper rifle, you don’t even learn his real name!!

The mission Zarak has been kidnapped for is personal he just doesn’t know it yet, and when he does he goes from reluctant to wanting badal (blood vengeance) but is torn as he also wants to bring him in for trial. Oscar is there to watch his back, keep him alive and make sure he doesn’t do anything stupid.

The settings in this book are brilliant and the detail to the culture is incredible, I learned a lot about the normal Afghan citizens; i.e. the handless spice dealer who plays a joke on them (scaring them half to death), the slave auction (selling or leasing children’s service’s as a shop boy, goat herder etc. for a twice yearly sum) or the buzkashi game.

There is no romance between Zarak and Oscar, there is want and need and maybe more. It’s down and dirty and they make do with where they are and what they’ve got.   What’s between them is primal, two Warrior’s coming together, so really don’t be expecting these two men to be declaring undying love for each other cause they won’t. This is a fantastic story that I highly recommend to the people who want more meat in their stories.

Blurb:  From the deep swamps of the Everglades to the glittering night clubs of South Beach, Miami-Dade police detective Scott Chandler is hot on the trail of the drug running cartel that killed some good officers in a firefight and left him with a steel rod in his leg. The last thing he expected to find was love in the form of a seemingly innocent wilderness guide–a guide who inexplicably knows more than he should.

Noah Taylor lives for the wild backwoods, spending days camping alone and only returning to town on the weekends to lead kayak tours through the dark waterways of the Everglades. But when he finds the remains of a ritually sacrificed body hanging from the twisted limbs of a mangrove tree, his life’s going to change in ways he can’t possibly predict–or can he?

Now Scott must untangle a web of deceit while struggling with his passion for Noah. Because loving him is easy. But trusting him could be deadly.

Pixie’s Review:  I really enjoyed this book, the main lead characters Scott and Noah hit it off straight away but their relationship is not a bed of roses. Noah knows thing’s he shouldn’t and hide’s his secrets close, Scott wants to trust Noah completely but can’t shake the suspicion that Noah’s more involved than he is letting on.

The suspense in this book is worked really well, drug runner’s, a psychotic bodyguard, a twisted high priest and gun battles in the Everglades… really what more you could you ask for. How about explicit hot sex, yep it’s got that too. You also have these two hot men trying to make a go of it in the middle of a dangerous investigation and when the investigation has ended what will these two lovers do, because it’s a close call when Scott finds out the entire truth .

So my recommendation is this if you love anything from above then you need to read this book, because it is enjoyable to read.

 Natasha’s Review:

Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥4.5

Big Cypress Crossroads is a great story of mystery. And unlike other stories, the romance does not occupy a secondary role. He is an integral part of the story.  The story begins with Noah finding a body hanging in the Everglades and going to report to the sheriff who is his uncle. When he arrives at the station he is informed that his uncle is busy in a meeting with two detectives that are in town looking for a drug dealer who possibly fled to the region.
Scott and his partner Rivera are after the drug dealer that injured Scott and killed several
policemen in a disastrous raid.

During the investigation to determine, if the body  found by Noah, is of the drug dealer wanted by detectives, more bodies are found, putting Noah in the midst of the investigation and around Scott.

I was sucked into the story from the first page. When I started reading, I could not stop and turn down the book. The story has a good pace, not too fast or too slow. And managed to hold my attention at all times.  The two main characters are believable. Both have issues that need to be addressed before they conquer their happily ever after. Noah has to overcome a loss in the past that is influencing his present life and dictating his actions. And Scott has to recover physically and mentally from the injured that he suffered.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good mystery with a twist (I kinda figured the end but not completely). And for those who need more encouragement, do not forget the romance and the hot sex scenes.

Blurb:  Gareth is his parents’ dirty secret: Cursed with a demonic appearance, he has always been in hiding just to stay alive. He must never be seen or his family will die. But when a violent attack endangers a local youth — whom Gareth adores from the shadows — there is no one else to help, and Gareth is driven to risk everything to save him.

Now the young man, Evin, wants to know more about this terrifying and beautiful stranger. Where did he come from? Is he a demon, or something more? They begin to meet in the darkness, becoming friends and then lovers. Evin’s sexual exploration and adoration of every part of Gareth’s strange body erase fear and self-loathing; and Gareth’s enthusiasm and prowess make every tryst more powerful, more deliriously sensual than the last.

But there is a purpose to Gareth’s existence, and when it is revealed, Evin and Gareth will be enslaved by rivals, separated to end up on opposite sides of a war. Evin will be forced to play a dangerous role: One which may make him Gareth’s destroyer.

Publisher’s Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: male/male sexual practices, violence.

Review:   Yay!!!   Medieval type fantasy… yay yay ha ha woo woo… (Sorry little happy dance there couldn’t control myself).  Okay, so out of all the genres in the world this is my favorite type, as the author can really let themselves go with their imaginations.   Sword’s, armor, shields, evil nobles, downtrodden peasants, magic, heroic men, evil monster’s, etc. Etc. Etc.   Because really, there is so much to choose from.   Now sometimes it works… and sometimes it doesn’t.   Some authors lose track of where they are going with the story or add too many detail’s or plots or people.   But this author doesn’t miss a trick.

Gareth is sweet, naïve and bullied by his parents.  Evin is trying to get through life as a peasant, who is being blackmailed and mistreated by the mayor’s son.   As these two get to know each other you can’t but help cheer them on.   They are about to embark on a journey that will separate them and see them re-united in a heart rendering way.   At one point I really couldn’t see how the author could bring them back together, and then I thought all was lost.

Charles Edward, I salute you.   This story has it all and your imagination is something to admire because the ending was inspired.

So what would I recommend?   If you like fantasy, magic, Medieval, a wicked Queen, an evil Sorcerer (a wizard if you want), re-growing limbs!!! (Yeah I know!) hot and kinky sex (really I think some men will be jealous of Gareth) and a storyline that keeps you reading then…this is it.

Blurb:   Two years after riding off into the sunset with ranch owner Rand Holloway, Stefan Joss has made a tentative peace with his new life, teaching at a community college. But the course of true love never does run smooth. Rand wants him home on the ranch; Stef wants an exit strategy in case Rand ever decides to throw him out. Finally, after recognizing how unfair he’s being, Stef makes a commitment, and Rand is over the moon.

When Stef gets the chance to prove his devotion, he doesn’t hesitate—despite the risk to his health—and Rand takes the opportunity to show everyone that sometimes life’s best surprises come after the sunset.

Review:  Well it’s two years later and Stef hasn’t run for the hill’s yet! We visit with the boy’s as secret’s come out and hopes are realized. Stefan still thinks that Rand will kick him out when he’s bored with him and still doesn’t realize that Rand thinks he hung the moon, the stars, the… heck Rand thinks Stef created the universe, and he loves him that much.

Stef and Rand are just as we remember them from the last book, well Rand’s happier now so not as grouchy. Don’t worry if you missed the first book as Ms Calmes does cover what happened when these two hot men got together (it’s short but concise) and it doesn’t affect this story. This time around we meet the Holloway side of the family who are not quite as friendly as May’s (Rand’s mom) side of the family, so there are arguments, fights and secrets and Stefan seems to fall right in the middle of them all.

Mary Calmes has created yet another feel good story and it hits the spot, so make a cup of tea, turn your phone off and curl up with this book and enjoy.
