Review: This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Tristan is struggling with his predator over his decision not to claim Ushna.  The dreams that are plaguing him aren’t helping either and he has enough on his plate with his rapidly expanding tribe. As more factions come out of the woodwork, his ex-Twin Flames mate causing problems and the impending birth of his children, Tristan has to remember his dreams for him to find peace.

This is another exciting installment of Sumeria’s Sons, where more danger emerges, secrets are revealed and hopes are about to come true. Tristan and Ushna have a rapidly expanding tribe, their two childhood friends. Stan and Jory are coming to the ranch and Tristan discovers his ex-Twin Flames children are being neglected. Ushna and Tristan have to pull together when the truth about Tristan’s dreams comes out and Randy has a secret that shocks Tristan.  More dangers come to light and Tristan has to face going back to Bahbelle to settle things with the council.

I found this to be an excellent addition to the series and it has answered some questions.  But, boy does it leave you with even more questions. Tristan and Ushna are a great couple and with us finally discovering, to a certain extent, the reasons behind Tristan’s dreams; it helps us understand the way the storyline has been crafted.  Although, it also leaves us with more questions as well. When Stan and Jory arrive we discover that the plotting of other factions is more deeply woven than anyone realized, and as the story progresses hidden factions come to light which shocks the wolves. This is a wonderfully written story and each books flows into the next and although we do get a brief recount of sections of the previous book, I would recommend each book being read in order so this epic fantasy can be enjoyed in full without confusion.

I recommend this book to those that love fantasy, in-depth storylines, great characters, some sweet loving, twists, secrets, betrayal, danger and an ending that leaves you grinning.

Review: This story is part of a series and best read in order. Aiden never got the chance to say goodbye to his lover, so on the recommendation of his boss he makes an appointment with the Thompson Agency. But, the appointment doesn’t go as planned, when he runs into someone from his past; some who made his life a misery. Jackson has done some things in his past that he regrets, when the victim of his bullying period comes into the office and he discovers the man is his mate he has a lot of groveling to do.  But, first he has to get Aiden to let him help Aiden raise his dead lover. And, just why is someone threatened by Aiden raising the dead?

This story combines personal demons of the past and a slight mystery surrounding the raising of a loved one. Aiden’s school years still haunt him to a degree.  being an object of bullying left unseen marks and now years later while trying to make an appointment to say one last goodbye to his dead lover, he bumps into one of the bullies and reacts badly. Jackson doesn’t know what he did to deserve a punch in the face, but he has to contact Aiden again, because the man is his mate. When he remembers Aiden, he is mortified of his past behavior and swears he will do anything to get Aiden to forgive him.

I really enjoyed this story and the way that Aiden and Jackson both confront the past. Even though this story still does have paranormal aspects, that side is more in the background until later in the book.  The main storyline is with Jackson admitting his faults when he was younger and with Aiden learning to forgive for past behavior. I really liked the fact that Aiden didn’t just jump to forgive Jackson, but that he also didn’t draw out his forgiveness either. I also liked that Jackson recognized his own faults and was working on them, and that he was wooing Aiden rather than expecting Aiden’s forgiveness. The entire storyline is good and I really liked the twist to Brendan’s (Aiden’s dead lover) death, which was a surprise and fit nicely into the story.

I will recommend this story to those who love paranormal, overcoming the past to find love, becoming a better person, a great twist, hot sex and a very happy ending.

Review: This story is part of a series and is best read in order. Jamie is returning to the place where he grew up for some rest and relaxation and to decide what he wants to do with his life next.  After serving in the marines and coming home due to injury he has a lot to decide. Helping the new owners around Sapphire Cay is a good start and when he meets Edward, the uptight wedding planner, sparks fly. Edward is a fabulous wedding planner; he has an eye for detail and may have a touch of OCD.  When he arrives at Sapphire Cay and discovers the gazebo in pieces and a trench dug in the earth he nearly has a meltdown.  Never mind the hot, sexy and dirty guy promises it will be done in time. Spending time with Jamie shows Edward that Jamie is much more than a hot marine.  But, Edward lives in Miami and Jamie isn’t sure what he is doing next. Still, the sparks fly between them. Can they work something out or will they only have their time on Sapphire Cay?

Hot, sexy marine meets fastidious, cool wedding planner what’s not to love? Jamie has to figure out what he wants to do next.  Yes. He might still have nightmares and his injury plays up every now and then, but at least he is still alive.  Meeting Edward has him looking towards the future and discovering all the quirks that the sexy wedding planner has. Edward might like having his life planned down to the last detail, but when he meets Jamie it’s shaken up with the attraction he feels for the tough looking man.  Getting to know the man under the image awakens longings he didn’t know he really yearned for and discovering the sweet and cuddly side to Jamie makes him long for more.

Ah, such a romantic setting, shame about the sand, eh, Edward. Okay, I’ll hold my hands up and admit I found Edwards quirks amusing and that’s mainly because although he was high-strung he wasn’t over the top or mega bitchy.  He was also compassionate and sweet and seemed just perfect for Jamie. Jamie was a brilliant character; he came across as having a tough outer shell, but having a soft and squishy center.  He made a perfect foil to Edward and although they seemed to be very different they connected really well. The sexually connection between them was very hot, sparks fly and the shower scene *wow, fans face* is not to be missed. This story is well written and pulls two characters together that normally you would think would clash.  But, it’s what’s beneath the surface that draws them to each other.

I have to recommend this to those who love opposites attract, hot marines, sexy wedding planners, finding love, romantic settings and a great ending.

Review: Jon Fox is a private detective who has a checkered past. His family’s history has left its mark on him and it’s about to take a second bite. Fox is approached to find a man by a nice old lady who wishes revenge on the mystery man.  it leads him to Tucker Wilder, a screenwriter who is hoping to write a story of lost love. They are thrown together in a mystery where secrets and lies are revealed… about their own families.

Wow, mystery, thrills, danger, albino alligators, murder, brutal fights and an unwelcome love or is it? Fox lands right in the middle of family drama and hidden secrets without even trying.  Trying to get to the bottom of an old lady’s request leads him to Tucker; which leads to danger and murder. Tucker just wants to write a hit screenplay, when he inadvertently stumbles across a mob hit.  Being rescued by Fox is a blessing, until they both stumble across hidden secrets from the past and a confrontation that might rip them apart.

Well, I never saw half of that coming and the story twists are exciting and some are unexpected. Jon is a playboy character who wins you over with his devil-may-care attitude.  The only people he really cares about are his family.  When he meets Tucker it throws him for a loop. Tucker is a much more frivolous character.  He has his eye on one thing and that’s returning to L.A. with a hit screenplay under his belt.  He over-reacts in dangerous situations and I dare say is a bit of a drama queen. Together, they have an explosive time with hardly a minute safe from danger, people coming out of the woodwork and becoming involved in the mystery and new questions arising. Each character brings something new to the story, adding more mystery and questions to the mix, leaving you reeling as more twists come into play.

The opening scene in the book has you hooked and it’s a rollercoaster ride that you don’t want to get off. Although I loved the storyline and the twists, I do have to admit that at times Tucker got right up my nose with his dramatic outpourings.  Fox I really liked and his unmitigated anger was easy to relate to. Although there was one major arc throughout the book there are also two others that have left me with questions.  One of them will hopefully be the main storyline for the next book.  But, the last one I can’t help wonder if it will be left unanswered. We don’t get a happily ever after in this story, but it is left wide open for a reconnecting romance.

I have to recommend this to those who love mysteries, danger, brutal fights, swampy danger, secrets unfolded, hot sex, a complex love story and an ending that leaves you panting for more.

Review: Patrick is happy with his simple life. He tends his garden every day and has his best friend Chad, a cockroach, to talk to, but everything begins to change with the appearance of a strange man in his garden. Damien welcomes Patrick’s offer of some coffee, they begin to spend time together and become friends.  But, Patrick’s nice safe home begins to shatter when Damien is kept from visiting him and Damien insists that the only way they can be together is if Patrick remembers.

This is quite a hauntingly beautiful story.  Patrick has suffered emotional trauma and has retreated into his nice safe world, and Damien visits Patrick and befriends him in the hope of pulling Patrick back into the real world. Although I would love to give more details, I really can’t say any more than I have without ruining the enjoyment of the story.  What I can say is that it is a touching story that has heartache and hope.

The characters seem to be very well written.  But, we don’t get to know them all that well.  The story was just too short for character development and the storyline was very intriguing and made me want to know more; about the characters, about what happened and what will happen. This story would make an excellent novel and I can only hope that Iyana Jenna will revisit this story in the future and give us an extended version.

I recommend this to those who love damaged young men, a man who will stand by you no matter what, a beginning to a relationship and a tentative happy for now ending.

After a four-year absence, Steve is ready to reclaim his life and the property he left behind. But is it safe? Definitely not if his ex is still into leather. To find out, Steve appears at a charity night for the local BDSM community, using the anonymity of his stage persona to mask his identity.

Instead of his ex-Master, Julius, Steve finds a tangled mess centered around another Master of Leather, Donato Rossi. In order to unravel their ties to the past, Steve and Don must find common ground and work together. In the process, they learn that when it comes to love, sometimes you have to make your own rules.

Review: This story is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone. Steve is finally ready to return home after four years and hopefully reclaim what is his.  But, first he has to make sure that his ex-master, Julius, isn’t around and if he is that he isn’t into leather anymore.  So Steve appears at a charity event for the local BDSM community and although there is no Julius, there is a Master D who is determined to talk to Steve. Donato is an American leather Master and his new venture in Australia could be hanging in the balance.  He has a lot to discuss with Steve, the sub who abandoned his Master and tries to come to some sort of arrangement. But, everything he was told isn’t true and he has to untangle the mess that Julius created. But, can a mentally scarred sub who refuses to have anything to do with BDSM and a confident Dom who loves the lifestyle find a middle ground that suits them?

This is a story about a man who got lost in BDSM and suffered the consequences of a Dom who immersed himself in the Old School Master/slave relationship. Steve fled to the U.K. four years ago when he escaped from an increasingly abusive Master/slave relationship.  He left it all behind and worked hard to find himself again.  But, now the time has come to reclaim what he left behind. But, nothing is ever easy and Steve has to handle Donato, a leather Master. But, Donato makes him long for things he shouldn’t want anymore. Donato just wants to get business sorted, but Steve proves to be more complex than he realized. Discovering the truth behind Julius and Steve’s relationship leaves him horrified and although Donato and Steve become close, they both know that BDSM is something that Steve just can’t handle anymore, so how can they be together?

I have to say this is a wonderful story of a man discovering what he truly wants and needs and seeking a way to overcome his emotional scars and fears. Steve is a strong character; he has been through hell and with help has come out the other side.  But, he still has a past to put to rest. Donato is a hard character to get to know.  Although, we get some background on him, he seems to have a shell that surrounds him so we only get to know him superficially.  He is a huge help to Steve and they end up meshing very well together. The storyline is very well done and the way it is written is brilliant at drawing you in.  making you see the damage done to a young man who wanted to do anything for the man he loved, a man who lost himself in BDSM.

This is a story that shows you that if you don’t limit yourself and don’t know when to pull in the reins, just how wrong things can go. This isn’t just about what is happening in the here and now, but also what happened in the past.  Would things have been different if Steve had pulled in the reins sooner? If instead of giving in, he had stuck by his disquiet? Steve has to finally admit to himself that it wasn’t just the BDSM’s fault, and that the two men involved were at fault too. Donato has great patience and it comes in handy when dealing with Steve.  He holds him when he has to, but he also lets Steve go when Steve needs it, whether Steve realizes it or not. They make a great couple in this book and the content of the book is scorching and at times erotic. Although, for the first few chapters I had a sour taste in my mouth, because of the opening scenes, those were not my cup of tea at al

I will recommend this to those that love emotionally scarred men, overcoming the past, discovering what you truly want, and finding love again and a happy ending.

Blurb: Born and raised a gypsy in the late eleventh century, Teman values freedom over everything. He and his best friend, Jasim, are thieves for hire—until one night they’re caught and their precious freedom is revoked. Given the choice between the dungeons or palace pleasure slavery, they become slaves, but Teman vows to escape someday.

Bathasar doesn’t want the throne. He supports his brother instead, which suits their sadistic father, Mukesh. When Teman, the handsome slave Bathasar has secretly been watching, saves his life, Bathasar requests a slave for the first time. Before long, Bathasar and Teman fall in love. But all is not well. One day Mukesh brutalizes Teman before the court, angering the empress of a neighboring nation. To appease her, he then offers her Jasim as a gift, and Teman decides to stay with Bathasar for now—despite the abuse he may suffer.

The peace doesn’t last. Mukesh plans to invade Jasim’s new country, and Bathasar must find a way to stop the destruction. But if he succeeds, he’ll ascend to the throne and have the power to grant Teman his liberty. Then Teman will surely leave him. What other choice could a gypsy make?

Review: It is always your choice. You choose between an iron collar and a gold one, or between a gold one and a unique labeled one, or between a unique labeled one or none at all. It’s always your choice.

Teman had no difficulty choosing the gold collar that would make him a pleasure slave. Yes, his body no longer belonged to him or his life, but that choice held the best possibility for an escape. if only his brain would stop thinking about sex long enough to form a plan.

Then there came Bathasar and when he offered the choice for Teman to be only his slave, his love, his man, the choice was even easier than the first time for Teman. So he traded his plain gold collar, for a better one that held his masters name.  A tag that clearly labeled his as Bathasar’s property. And while they were so much more than that, his gypsy soul always craved freedom.  But, freedom soon became just a dream when his best friend Jasim was gifted to an Empress and Teman was left alone with only his love to contain him.

But when time came that his one and only love could offer him a life with no collar at all the choice was not so easy anymore. The freedom Teman so much longed for came at a price; choose it and lose your love, chose your love and forget freedom forever.

This was quite a lovely book, one that in my opinion had the potential of being exceptional. This is the tale of a slave that his spirit fed in freedom.  The tale of a crown prince that had no love for his crown.  The story of a cruel and malicious malik (equal to king), who had no compassion for human life. The malik, Bathasar’s father had a strong sadistic side that cost him the hatred of many people, his own and foreign. Teman’s ability to endure and Bathasar’s infatuation with the slave only fed the malik’s cruelty more, and it caused him to lose control in front of a court dinner when many foreign royalties were present.  This in turn caused many treaties downfall. The malik’s insanity though goes further when he tries to assassinate the Empress of Tiantang and assault her country, something Bathasar eagerly tries to prevent. They have one chance to get rid of the cruel ruler and that involves Teman and his ability to endure whatever the malik has in store for him in order to provide distraction. A choice hard to make that might cause him his life.

While this book was very entertaining it had strong weaknesses in the plot both in how the characters reacted and responded, and the incredibly fast way they fell “in love”. In such circumstances as monarchy to be able to display such weakness in front of the court as the Malik did is simply not realistic, even more so to have a guest challenge your authority in your own palace, or get in a position that would draw that such response.

As for the pair’s fast escalating emotions and those of the Empress with Jasim, let just say that I’m not fond in declarations of love the first night a pair gets together. This passage is precisely what I mean:

Bathasar didn’t care that Teman had been a thief, didn’t care that he was now a slave, didn’t care about any of that. He liked Teman’s personality, liked Teman’s humor, liked all of that.

However Bathasar simply never had the chance to get to know Teman and fall in love for Teman himself. While Bathasar might have gathered information and was fascinated with the slave, strong emotions such as love are too much for me to swallow when they came the very first night of their “lovemaking”. I simply wish there was given some time to the pair to bond, it would have made the read much more believable and intense.

Furthermore the balance between the intimate scenes and the story itself was very poor. The sex scenes were numerous and managed to draw focus from the story at the point where you felt the story was only 100 pages in a near 400 pages novel. While steamy-hot is perhaps a huge understatement for the scenes and the intensity they had, it still became tiresome and made you wish they were less. They also gave me a bad taste when it came to Teman’s character. The book starts with a very strong, mysterious Teman, one who was always the level-headed and the one to keep things in control while Jasim was the fly with the wind guy. That person however is lost in the haze of lust and love, making one slight appearance and then lost again. I often felt that it was such a shame for that wonderful personality to be deduced in a mindless pleasure thing.

And as for the action itself, too many lost opportunities in my opinion to create a tension like no other. The fear the malik could cause was a bit lost and sometimes it made no sense as in why he would act the way he did.

So at this point you might very well wonder why give 3.5 hearts at all to this story. As I said, while not exceptional, I enjoyed the read. It was too long, yes but still it did keep me in its hooks and I got completely lost in the story. The fact that the intimate scenes revolve around orgasm denial and frustration are a plus cause I’m just a sucker for mind games and this book is all about that. Kinky, hot, sensual and mind-blowing the erotic scenes were extremely powerful in too many ways. In addition the story is located in eleventh century Arabia, one of my favorite areas, in a time when the harems were in full bloom and indeed human life was nothing more than the ruler’s property.

What can I say, I was fascinated by this story and if you are even remotely interested in all the above I recommend take the dive. Aladdin and Jazmin have nothing on Teman and Bathasar. 😉

Review: This short story is all about a one-night stand and I absolutely loved it. It’s the first time I read anything coming from this author.  I love her style, her voice and her humor. I spend the first half of the story laughing myself to tears with the witty dialogues between the two characters.

Austin has gone cruising in an effort to move on and stop pinning for his cheater ex-boyfriend. One thing or maybe two, get laid and no names. Period. The Scot he meets at the bar though is, well I just loved him. Witty, constantly making jokes, sometimes really bad jokes that suited his profile perfectly. He’s interesting and alluring and damn that nameless Brit had me engrossed in this story almost against my will.

So, of course Austin is attracted.  it’s almost like he’s in a spell. They takeoff together and a night unlike most one-night stands starts. Thing is (and this is why I loved this author even more) that not everything goes smoothly. There is awkwardness and nerves spilling making this even more realistic, there are hot scenes that are not too much, nothing that makes you think of surreal fantasies taking place. It’s plain brilliant and I adored it; so very rare for a short story.

In this end this is the narration of a one-night stand that has the potential of growing into more and the main character has only to overcome his fears and inhibitions and just give it a go, all wrapped up and written with a very talented pen.

Totally recommended.

Review: An assassin shifter named Shadow is Lukas’ current job. He’s taken to kill the assassin and claim the bounty, but it runs deeper than that. Revenging his friend’s death by Shadow’s hand is something Lukas needs to do. Unfortunately, things don’t go as smoothly as he wanted and now instead of the predator he is the prey.

Finding himself in a terrible situation, captured and pinned in an alley brick wall and facing death, Lukas should not be thinking of how attractive his killer is.  Nor should he be aroused by the way Shadows body and presence completely control him. And he most certainly shouldn’t like it so much when Shadow forces himself on Lukas. But, it happens and in the blink of an eye things start changing.  The roles of predator and prey losing meaning and little hopes of things never dared dreamed before start blooming.

With the lines now blurred and the balance upturned, Lukas will try to help the once-thought criminal clear the bounty from his head. The hardest part though and the most terrifying is the fact that Lukas wants more. How to get it? Can he get it? Can there be something more with this creature that consumes him so completely?

So in all honesty I’m torn with this book. I loved the romance part.  I adored both characters in their interaction and their chemistry had me enthralled. Normally, I really dislike fast relationships and “I love you-s” that are sprouted like magic beans, BUT, and it’s a big but, it really fitted here and made their connection even better.

The action part though on the other hand was disappointing. Any hard-core lover of assassin-related stories would probably abandon this at sight. Lukas is not the killer he claims to be, not the best, not even mediocre. He fails that part from the very start of the story and continues to do so till the end. If there was one scene that I felt held something remotely realistic, that was the part when he had the gun on his back, very close description of Krav-Maga technique. Other than that though, the “assassin” role failed.

Shadow was much better, his entire character so very enticing. I loved the fact that his shifting abilities weren’t over-used.  I loved the mystery behind the creature. I hated the fact that I didn’t get to learn more about him and the story ended with me wanting more. I really hope the next book in the series gives us more about Lukas and Shadow.  I’d hate it if it was another story simply placed in the same world.

That being said I’d love to recommend this one to all fans of the genre, it was quite interesting and a fascinating romantic read.

Review: A double feature from two of our favorite authors and the book cover sets the scene for the perfect paranormal evening in.

Diagnosis: Wolf by Poppy Dennison

Andrew has been left destitute by his brother’s pilfering ways.  He is now scrambling for a job and has to take what is offered to him and a difficult patient is the least of his worries. Facing two growling bodyguards down isn’t a problem, but the lack of medical records is.  How is he supposed to help his patient, if he doesn’t know the symptoms? Finding himself attracted to the patient, Caleb, feels awkward, but is determined to ignore it… until the patient responds to him. Discovering the cause of Caleb’s illness is worrying and Andrew begins to realize just how much trouble his brother has landed him in.

Ohhhh. Andrew has a hard time when his brother lands him in an untenable position and it becomes even harder when Andrew discovers the truth about Caleb.  Fixing Caleb’s illness turns out to be the easy part. I really enjoyed this story and the relationship between Andrew and Caleb was great. Although they turn out to be mates, they take their time before completing their bond. The story draws you in and holds you there, as it becomes laced with betrayal.  Andrew has a hard choice to make and Caleb and his father discover a backstabber in the family. A great little novella that is slightly different from the usual shifter stories.  a must read for shifter lovers, and those who love a great story of twists, betrayal and love.

Landslide by Mary Calmes

Frank has been a courier for paranormals for several years.  For the last three he has worked for Cael, an incubus demon. And he has rejected all the advances the demon has made, sure that he is just playing with him. When Frank’s sister lands herself in trouble by sleeping with a werewolf and then witnessing a body dump, he turns to Cael for help and ends up discovering that Cael is playing for keeps.

Frank has no confidence in his looks. He put on a lot of weight when he left the Marines and although he has lost a lot of it, he still feels like he has a long way to go. Cael is gorgeous and although he has nearly begged the man, Frank, the man who is his mate, just won’t come to him.  When Frank comes to him for help, he jumps at the chance to spend time with him. While solving the problems in Frank’s hometown, they both discover what the other really wants. I found both Frank and Cael to be brilliant characters and the story to be wonderful with all its paranormal aspects, Frank’s lack of self-image and Cael’s determination to get his man. This story is laced with interesting paranormal tidbits and has some interesting turns.  Cael is one scary demon when crossed and when Frank and Cael finally get it together they are fantastic. This is not a story to miss if you love paranormal, great characters, an interesting storyline and a very happy ending.

Blurb: Legend says sirens will lead you to your death with a smile. Myths also claim dragons are nothing but figments of imagination.
Who could’ve possibly known that the last missing piece required to restore the Watchtowers to their full power would also carry within it the seeds of destruction?

A chance meeting between Raphael, first knight to King James, and Darren, related to the King of Muria, leaves everything Rafe has ever known in tatters. Still reeling from the loss of his former lover, Rafe embarks on a journey of self-discovery which will not only shake his beliefs to the core but also change the world.

Review: This story is part of a series and must be read in order. After his beloved, Vivian, was encased in ice to save their world, Rafe decided to stay close and has been living in the Icelands since. Saving a mysterious man from an icy death, begins him on the journey of re-joining the world outside. But, what he discovers nearly brings destruction to Dinas. Darren is on a journey to the focal point, when he slips beneath the ice and is rescued by the man who is his mate.  But, things become strange when the shadows come to life and legends of old return to the world.

This story continues not long after Icelands ended.  It picks up the story with Rafe and his happy ending. Rafe is still suffering from the loss of his beloved Vivian, but when he meets Darren he feels conflicted over the feelings that Darren evokes.  Returning to his home island, he confronts the past. But, when Darren turns up with strange stories of shadows, they begin to investigate the mystery. Darren knows he has to be patient if he wants his mate, delving into the mystery that seems to surround Rafe leads to them to discovering Dinas and their world may be in danger.  Can they save their world before it is too late? And, will Rafe ever be able to accept Darren as his lover?

I really enjoyed the conclusion to the Watchtower series.  Everything that has been hinted at and questions left unanswered in the previous books are all answered in Siren Song.  We see Rafe work his way through his grief for Vivian and discover if he can accept love again. Darren is a wonderful addition to the cast, although we saw him briefly in Out of the (Werewolf) Closet we get to know him a whole lot better in this story. I liked the new twists and loved how they all linked together the previous stories.  And Rafe and Darren make an excellent team. I really do hope that Anna Marie May will revisit this world again… we will just have to keep our fingers crossed.

I recommend this to those that love fantasy worlds, a great storyline, surprise twists, great characters and a very happily ever after.

Blurb:  Sometimes family chooses you.

How does a man get to be forty without knowing whether he’s gay? That’s a question Vince Fierro is almost afraid to answer. If he is gay, it’ll be a problem for his big, fat Italian family. Still, after three failed marriages, he can’t help but wonder if he’s been playing for the wrong team.

There’s only one way to settle it, once and for all—head for Chicago’s Boystown bars, far from anyone who knows him. Naturally, he runs smack into someone from the neighborhood.

Between working two jobs, going to school, taking care of his grandmother, and dealing with his mother’s ongoing substance abuse, Trey Giles has little time for fun, let alone dating someone who swears he’s straight. Yet after one night of dancing cheek-to-cheek to the sultry strains of Coltrane, Trey finds himself wanting to help Vinnie figure things out—no promises, and no sex.

It seems like a simple plan, until their “no-sex” night turns into the best date of their lives and forges a connection that complicates everything.

Warning: This book deals with alcoholism, broken promises, and overbearing little sisters.

Review:  A comforting read.

There’s just something really warm about this story that makes reading this fun and easy. I read this over a couple of cold, wintery evenings, and it was like having hot chocolate and marshmallows. Yum.

The pace is superb for a light read. There is no major angst or any dramatic unexpected turns, the story is simply about two sweet guys, Vinnie and Trey, who let themselves show their attraction to one another and it simmers and grows into love.

The two perspectives worked for me as well. Trey’s perspective is in the first person and Vinnie’s is in the third—both are skillfully written and pleasant to read. Though, I felt a touch more connected with Trey most of the story.

This was a smooth, fast read with a simple plot. If you’re looking for a break in-between more angst driven stories, this is a great option.

Review:  Quick read verging on angsty but ultimately sweet.

Cole is immediately likeable as a character and following his story is sweet and sad in equal measure. The things he’s lived through would be enough to make most people shudder, and yet he is strong enough to continue and let Jeremy get close to him.

I quite liked the hoarded house setting filled with amazing antiques that at first you think might just be rubbish. I was glad to see Cole able to make some money off of the mess his parents left behind for him to clean up.

A nicely written story, though I was tenser than I needed to be reading it; I kept anticipating something sinister would happen with Cole’s abusive ex. I had the feeling I had to keep looking over my shoulder just as he did. In the end I was relieved with how it played out, but my stomach had an uneasy knot right until the end.

Blurb:   Hockey player Jason Monroe lives a double life—star defenseman and soon-to-be Olympian on the ice and closeted gay man outside the rink. A serious relationship is out of the question, and Jason makes do with anonymous sex in barroom bathrooms, not willing to take the chance on coming out as gay in a decidedly macho sport.

Advisor to the US Olympic hockey team Patrick Parker knows a thing or two about being a professional hockey player who’s not out. He’s fifteen years older than Jason, and when he senses the sexy younger man is interested, he knows he shouldn’t give in to the attraction.

The two men can’t keep their hands off each other, though, and with each heated encounter it gets harder to hide their relationship. When their world blows up around them, forcing them into the limelight, though, will their love survive or be put on ice?

Review:  Oh, God. Damn, this book was good! I LOVE Hockey, and hot men, especially when said hot men are all over each other. This book is all about what happens when you mix all the aforementioned attributes into one story.

Jason Monroe is living his dream as a star player on the US Olympic Hockey team. Patrick Parker is an Advisor to the team and a former professional hockey player. The two fight their mutual attraction initially, but a passionately fierce kiss leaves them aching to explore a relationship that could have disastrous consequences for them both. Not only is Patrick drastically older than Jason, but there is the teacher/student aspect of a forbidden relationship as well. If the coaches and players can get past that, how will they respond to their teammate being gay?

The character development in this book was fantastic. Patrick knows he’s gay and is open and out with his family and close friends. Jason hides his sexuality from everyone including himself to an extent, but Patrick gets under his skin. Patrick knows who he is and what he wants, or who he wants that is, he wants Jason. Both men have to overcome personal and professional obstacles to be together. Stolen moments hidden away in motel rooms are wrapped around not only some extremely passionate sex, but room service and long conversations that ultimately lead to love.

My only complaint is that the story was too short; a few expletives flew from my mouth when my kindle displayed “the end”! I was quite pleased to visit the authors Amazon page and see that she already has a sequel in the works. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that is a fan of M/M erotic romance stories.

Review:  This book hit the ground running! Henry Walker, only child and heir to his father’s multimillion dollar company is secretly in love with his best friend. Archie Banks grew up at the Walker estate. He is Henry’s chauffer, bodyguard and lover. A kidnapping leaves both men seriously injured, and the FBI are convinced Archie is behind it. Left to their own devices in an all too tiny apartment, the relationship between these two secret lovers blooms into something more. When the smoke clears will Henry finally admit he’s in love with Archie? Or will he keep his bodyguard in the closet, along with the truth about his sexuality.

If this book had wavered from the initial chapter, even slightly, I might not have finished it. The childhood friends turned lovers aspect is starting to wear me thin in the M/M genre. But Michael’s managed to find the right balance by starting the story on a cliff, and riding the consistency of the plot from there. Yes, I saw the bad guy coming a mile away, but that’s not what the whole of this story was about. I really enjoyed reading Henry and Archie’s relationship as it evolved from just sex to love. The secondary characters were vital to the story as well, even though I figured out who the bad guy was early on, everyone had a part to play and I was intrigued by each and every one of them.

This is the first of Tere Michaels books that I’ve read, but I will definitely be on the lookout for more. The story was engaging and the characters grabbed me, especially Henry and Archie. Their sex scenes were not extremely explicit, but neither were they overall. Michaels still managed to convey the want, need and electricity between them regardless.

If you like M/M romance with that element of mystery and just a teensy bit of intrigue, then this is the book for you.

Blurb: Even years after Rizzo Berg’s lover and Dom died in combat, the memories torment him. Following a particularly disappointing date, Rizzo goes to sleep in his apartment only to wake up on a spaceship with tall, gorgeous, alien Captain Conrad D’Ollet of Heracia, a man so deliciously dominant Rizzo’s knees turn to jelly.

Apparently the Heracians need help, and Rizzo is a humanitarian through and through. Spending more time around Conrad is totally not one of the reasons he wants to lend a hand.

Soon Rizzo finds himself completely conquered and blissfully owned. But neither he nor Conrad is willing to risk his heart, let go of the past, and dare to believe in a future that won’t end in catastrophe.

Review: Rizzo can’t seem to find It with a man.  Something is always missing and the memory of piercing black eyes haunts him.  After another disastrous date with another man who doesn’t have It, he sinks into sleep, only to wake up aboard the spaceship of Captain Conrad D’Ollet. Conrad is sent to Earth to retrieve the human Rizzo Berg.  He is a perfect genetic match for the Heracians, but his personality is one they haven’t come across before and something in Rizzo challenges Conrad and the Captain never backs down from a challenge. An attack by the Heracians enemy, the Zax, throws their relationship into danger.  Will Rizzo have the courage to stick around and fight for the one he has come to love?

This is a great science fiction story of a dying race, its mortal enemies and a spunky, sassy human. Rizzo lost the one man he had ever loved to war, struggling to find that special feeling again has led to some disastrous dates and after one such date he slips into sleep and awakes to what he believes at first to be a fantasy dream. Conrad (Sparky or GPS-boy depending on Rizzo’s mood) is only supposed to deliver Rizzo back to Heracian, but Rizzo declares them lovers in a cultural mishap and Conrad is very happy to take advantage of it. Sharing their hearts is painful for both of them as they share the pain of lost loves, and just when they accept their feelings for one another the Zax strike and Rizzo has to dig deep and have faith in his lover.

Oh, you are all gunna love Rizzo.  His sassy and take no prisoner attitude makes you hope that if you are ever abducted by aliens, then he is there alongside you. Conrad seems very stiff and commanding, but he does seem to know just how to handle Rizzo. The loss that both of them suffer makes it easier for them to connect, although Rizzo hates having to share his pain.  The sex between them is really scorching hot and the love they develop is put under enormous strain and against the odds that love prevails. The storyline is really interesting with the Heracian genetic/AI problems and their war with the Zax, and their need for human help. It is a great setting for human abductions and Liv Olteano hits it just right with her debut novella.

I will recommend this if you love sassy humans, hunky commanding aliens, science fiction, lost loves, trusting your heart and a very happy ending.

Review: Nash is hoping to get his singing career off the ground and with Layne’s (his best friend) help he enters a contest at a drag bar with its prize of a recording contest and $10,000. But he soon discovers he has tough competition in the form of Stacey, a full-time mother and wife, and after his initial shock of having female competition at a drag bar they soon have a friendly rivalry. Bobby has never had to come out to his family because he never saw a reason, but when he meets his sisters’ competition he knows that the time is now right, and soon Nash and Bobby are tumbling into love. But as the competition heats up so does the body count, as someone is picking off the competition and no one is safe.

Hmmm, I really wasn’t sure what to expect when I realized another author was writing an Avondale Story, but Etienne’s partner of 17 years Antonio has done a wonderful job of keeping the essence of Avondale alive. Nash usually wouldn’t be seen dead in women’s clothes, but it’s for a good cause, unfortunately he isn’t too happy that a female is allowed into the competition. Clashing with Stacey and her brother Bobby the sparks fly during the first night of the competition and then bumping into Bobby at the grocery store the sparks fly for a different reason. Bobby is amazed to finally find a guy to come out for and throws himself headfirst into love.  Supporting both his sister and Nash during the competition is great and they all have fun together.  But, the competition becomes scary as the performers are targeted, with the police investigating (we see Carl and George from previous Avondale stories) and the religious zealots protesting Bobby, Nash and their new friends are all in danger.  But, can the police discover the murderer before it is too late?

I have to say that I really enjoyed this story.  the wonderful atmosphere during the competitions is brought to you in full so you can experience the joy and camaraderie that all the characters share, including the bitching, backbiting and support, as well as the coming together of a community in times of need. Bobby and Nash’s relationship does move fast and their sex life is inferred.  But, seeing them together you can see how quickly they fell for each other and why.  They fit together seamlessly and are a well-suited couple. The storyline was really good and although a little gruesome and violent at times it was written really well, the mystery of the murderer was really good and although you might get a slight idea of who it is, you can’t be sure until the big unveiling.

I have to recommend this story to those who love murder mysteries, great full of life characters, a great competition, true love and a very happy ending.

Review: Sean just can’t seem to settle.  He has a feeling that there is something out in the world just waiting for him.  leaving his lover Zach isn’t an easy choice, but it is one that he has to make. Stranded, alone and freezing, Sean is rescued by a man who is lost himself.  What Sean and Ezra share that night has them both finding home.

This is a touching, slight paranormal with a touch of historical element. Sean is searching for something, but he just doesn’t know what.  Leaving his boyfriend, Zach, he sets out to wander the country and find what is missing from his life.  But, stranded and freezing, he fears that Zach’s last words to him may come true. Ezra has also been searching for something, but he knows what it is.  He just can’t seem to find his way, saving Sean and bringing him back to his humble cabin, leads him to find his way home.

This is quite a poignant little story, which is brimming with heart clenching emotion.  Sean at first seems to be selfish.  He has a man who adores him and will travel with him when the urge hits Sean.  But, he throws Zach’s love back in his face, because he has a feeling that there is something or someone out there that would just be right. When Sean finds himself freezing under a tree I couldn’t quite quench the little spark that wanted to shout ‘Karma’, but the following scenes touch your heart as he comes to realize that what he was looking for was right in front of him the entire time. Ezra has also been looking for something and spending the night with Sean shows him the way, their coming together is beautiful and isn’t a quick fix, it is a joining of souls, a sharing of lives that will blow you away.

I will recommend this to those who love slight paranormal stories, historical flashbacks, sweet loving, finding the way home and a very happy ending for all involved.

While taking part in New York City’s Pride march with a former lover’s dance company, his world changes forever when the man of his dreams materializes out of nowhere at his feet . Josh’s sensual and loving touch, the first Conall has ever known, may be enough to give him back the magick he’s lost. But before they can complete their Soulshare, a terrible accident leaves Conall bodiless, lost, and invisible, to everyone except – maybe – the human with whom he shares a soul.

Review: This story is part of a series which must be read in order. Conall is the most powerful mage since the sundering. Unfortunately, he is so powerful that he could drain the Realm.  So he has a tight control over his powers and he can’t ever let go which means a celibate life. When he refuses to do the bidding of a noble lady, he finds himself cast out on Earth, his soul ripped in two and his magic broken and he lands at the feet of a tattoo artist. Josh owns the tattoo parlor above Purgatory and is currently visiting friends, helping in a Pride march when he nearly falls over an injured man. Drawn to helping the man Josh takes him home. But, the Marfach is on the prowl and before long both Josh and Conall are in danger and an accident leaves Conall in an uncertain predicament.

This is a brilliant continuation of the Soulshares series. Josh is drawn to Conall and doesn’t understand wh., Conall understands that Josh must be his Soulshare, but his magic was damaged when his soul was torn in two and arousal causes him pain.  But, being separated from Josh is also painful. Separated when Josh’s workplace is broken into, Conall finds the pain unbearable and has an accident that renders him bodiless. Josh is the only one who can bring him back, but with the Marfach hunting for Conall and trying to find a way to the nexus, both Josh and Conall face a danger that could well destroy them.

This is a brilliant imaginative story that reveals more about the Loremasters and their plans and their involvement in the banishings, and also continues the Marfach’s hunting of the Fae and the nexus. Both, Conall and Josh are great characters. Conall has lived a lonely life because of his powerful magic, while Josh hasn’t been able to really settle for a man before. The two of them together are something special. The sex that they do have is really hot and the difficulties they face are definitely unique and dangerous. We see Tiernan and Kevin from Hard as Stone and we discover more about Cuinn and his involvement in what is happening.  Marfach and its human host Janek are more involved in this story and it is far from pretty.

I love the way that this story is heading and the characters we are meeting.  There is something refreshing in this world we are being drawn into with these banished Fae. Even though the Fae firmly believe that they can’t love they are doing a very good job with their Soulshares and the storyline is fantastic with the story details becoming clearer and it makes us wonder just what the Loremasters are up to. Rory Ni Coileain gives us some descriptions that make us glad that we aren’t Janek. I can’t wait for the next story Deep Waters and what will be unveiled then.

I will recommend this to those who love broken Fae, uniting Soulshares, avoiding death, Urban Fantasy, hot sex, an imaginative storyline and a happy ending for Conall and Josh with the promise of more to come.

Blurb: An ex-soldier and an urban Goth walk into a desert. It sounds like the start of a joke, but for Sam Collins and Daniel Evans, it is the beginning of their story. Daniel walks to shed his drug-filled past and make himself whole. But Sam, who hides the demons of war behind a smile, needs Daniel more than either man knows. An old stockman’s wisdom sends them on their journey together, a long hard road to find Australia’s sacred Red Heart and—perhaps—each other.

Part of the Under the Southern Cross anthology.

Review: Daniel’s dreams are constantly pushing him forward toward the desert, or should I say dream.  It is, after all, the same over and over again. It makes no sense to him, but the feeling that he needs to reach the Red Heart. While driving toward his goal, he meets Sam, a drover, and feels a certain connection with the man. That in itself is odd since there has been quite a long time that Daniel has felt anything, for anyone beside his family. The mysterious ex-soldier appeals to Daniel in ways that frighten him. How can such a man like an ex-junky, Daniel doesn’t know, but Sam keeps sticking nearby and lending him warmth and courage.

Almost like in a dream Daniel and Sam decide to walk toward Daniel’s destination through the desert and the two men discover their similarities hidden beneath the layers of their appearances and the hole in their heart starts to fill with feelings they both had forgotten. And while Daniel seams the person to need help the most, he finds out how the smiling, warm; almost boy-next-door Sam has demons of his own and is in desperate need of something.  Something Daniel is more than willing to give.

I loved this title. It started with a near creepy feeling, lots of event seemed like a coincidence that in deeper thought well all related and that gave somehow the notion of Fate putting things together.

The characters were very interesting and quite developed for such a short length story. Each of them unique, each of the adorable and lovable. Daniel with his strength fighting his addictions and trying to make it one more day at a time, and Sam with his unyielding character, something almost “never give up- never surrender”. They were indeed perfect halves of a story, and while there is a low heat level for this one their chemistry and attraction were quite palpable. The magic was there and I loved it.

The author’s way of describing their walk in the desert deserves praising, too, I loved reading it and hell, I so want to visit Australia even more now. Uluru would be such a great destination. Admittedly, I loved her voice and would very much like to read more of her.

I’d love to recommend this book to those who love contemporary romances placed in wonderful parts of Earth and suffering characters trying to make reason out of chaos. A very worth reading novella in my opinion.
