Third Eye
by
Rick R. Reed
Who knew that a summer thunderstorm and his lost little boy would conspire to change single dad Cayce D’Amico’s life in an instant? With Luke missing, Cayce ventures into the woods near their house to find his son, only to have lightning strike a tree near him, sending a branch down on his head. When he awakens the next day in the hospital, he discovers he has been blessed or cursed—he isn’t sure which—with psychic ability. Along with unfathomable glimpses into the lives of those around him, he’s getting visions of a missing teenage girl.
When a second girl disappears soon after the first, Cayce realizes his visions are leading him to their grisly fates. Cayce wants to help, but no one believes him. The police are suspicious. The press wants to exploit him. And the girls’ parents have mixed feelings about the young man with the “third eye.” Cayce turns to local reporter Dave Newton and, while searching for clues to the string of disappearances and possible murders, a spark ignites between the two. Little do they know that nearby, another couple—dark and murderous—are plotting more crimes and wondering how to silence the man who knows too much about them.
Title: David’s Selfie Author: Daisy Harris Genre: Contemporary Length: Novella (103 pages) Publisher: Samhain Publishing (November 18th, 2014) Heat Level: Moderate – Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts Blurb:Sometimes a guy’s best angle is below the belt.
When David, a single father, vows to get laid just once before the year ends, he doesn’t figure on losing his cell phone—and with it one very revealing picture. Lucky for him, his phone is found by a disarmingly handsome man who might be perfect for the kind of casual Christmas fling David is after.
Go-go dancer Craig never would have guessed that the guy with the cute cock shot would turn out to be a doctor. Or that he’d find himself lying about his night job and worrying David will find out the truth. To complicate matters, each of their hook-ups requires days of planning. Yet before he knows it, Craig has a new boyfriend, and possibly a whole new family.
David’s ready to dive head-first into something new, but if Craig’s going to commit, he’ll need to come clean about his job, his past, and—most of all—the naughty picture that drew him to David in the first place.
Warning: Contains a male exotic dancer and extremely intimate photography. May contain traces of Zumba, bad roommates, and sad childhoods. Call your doctor if after six hours you still can’t get the grin off your face.
Review: David is a 30-year-old doctor who’s raising his 3-year-old daughter Maia by himself. He struggles to get back into the dating scene and his means to doing that will give you a good chuckle. He is just a normal guy who’s a little out of shape physically and he’s handsome but not stunning. According to Craig, he’s simply “nerdalicious.”
Craig is a hunky smokin’ hot go-go dancer and Zumba instructor. But that’s not all he is. He’s also a former foster child who has some self-esteem issues. He’s defensive and a little insecure because of his job, but he does it to pay for his masters degree studies. He likes David just the way he is and it’s obvious Craig’s character has depth, because for him, the type of person David is means a lot more than his physical appearance.
I’m a sucker for a story that includes a child and I was impressed that even though Maia is a very important part of David and Craig’s relationship, she didn’t take over the whole story. She is sweet and adorable and behaves exactly like a 3-year-old is supposed to behave.
This is a low angst story, there’s sweetness and tenderness, but make no mistake, the sex is hot and dirty and rough. I was surprised by David’s dirty side, I kept thinking to myself, “Well, Holy shit, Doc!!!”…
But the best part for me was the epilogue… forward 10 years, we get to briefly see their relationship is still strong, they’re still happy together and Maia is being the trouble making, foul-mouthed 13-year-old she’s supposed to be.
I recommend this to anyone who loves a low angst romance with awesome characters that will leave you feeling happy.
Title: Marked For Love Series: Marked For Love, #1 Author: Jamie Lake Genre: Paranormal/ Shapeshifter Length: Short Story (35 Pages) Publisher: Jamie Love (June 20, 2014) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥3.5 Hearts Blurb: Nathan never should have gotten in that truck. That he knew for sure, but something animalistic, something sexy, something almost magnetic drew him to the mysterious brooding man who beckoned for him to get in and so he did.
What ensues is a night Nathan will never forget, filled with intrigue, passion and mind-blowing dominant sex only an Alpha werewolf shifter can give you; a night Nathan soon finds he was destined to experience. But could it lead to true love or will Nathan be tossed aside like he has by so many men before him?
Review: This is the first book to an amazing new series by Jamie Lake. It is a great start but I can’t wait to get my hands on book two.
Nathan had been out with his boyfriend, till his so-called boyfriend left him stranded. Now he had to walk home, he had remembered something from his past so he was afraid of the area for some reason. What he had not expected was the fact that a very sexy man stopping and picking him up. That man had some major issues and one of them was the fact that he was a shifter. A shifter that had seen him before.
This story is a good one, but for me it was too short. It also has that amazing ending. You know the one that leaves you hanging and where you can’t wait to get your hands on book two. The only problem I had with it was Buck’s attitude. It comes off as all high and mighty. Making demands but he knew that Nathan would do it.
That just drove me up the wall with it. I just can’t see that really happening in life. This does have the kink of BDSM, which always turns a girl on. If you love sexy men, dominate alpha shifters, kinky situations, feisty attitudes and excitement then this would be a good book for you.
I would recommend reading this story if you love those and more. Although for me, I want a story longer and I will definitely be looking for book two.

Title: My Best Friend’s Brother Author: CR Guiliano Genre: Contemporary Length: Novella (75 pages) Publisher: Dreamspinner Press (October 1st, 2014) Heat Level: Low Heart Rating: ♥♥♥3Hearts Blurb: Every day has been a struggle for Brynn Davidson since his mother’s death. He dropped out of college to care for his sisters, but his father’s grief and rage-filled abuse is taking its toll. While he wishes for a better life, Brynn sees no way out, since he can’t leave his sisters behind.
What little hope he finds comes from his best friend, Leila, who repeatedly offers to report his father, but is his rock. Then she surprises him with news that her brother is back in town. Brynn’s former crush, Adric, left town cursing Brynn’s name.
Now, he offers to support Brynn in any decision that will get Brynn out of his horrible situation. But Brynn doesn’t know if he’s ready for his best friend’s brother.
Review: Straight up – I really liked this book. I particularly liked the premise as outlined in the blurb. There were all the ingredients for an awesome story – the best friend’s hot older brother, unrequited /young love and a knight (well, lawyer) in shining armour. The story is basically as outlined, Brynn is a college-drop out trying to keep it together for his younger sisters while he has to put up with an abusive father. Adric is Brynn’s boyhood crush and older brother to his BFF, Leila. He also happens to be a hot shot lawyer.
I basically have two problems with the plot of this story, so I’m just going to put it out there. Firstly, the reason Brynn was being abused was too generalised and likewise the solution at the end for this particular thread of the plot was way too convenient. I also saw it coming from close to the beginning of the book. I won’t say anything else so there are no spoilers.
Secondly, I didn’t really like was how Adric and Brynn just dive into a relationship, again it felt too convenient, I generally have no objection to this type of instant “I love you” lines, but for some reason here it seemed out of place.
However, back to my initial point of where I really like this book, despite what I perceive to be flaws. The rest of the story is quite good and very enjoyable, considering the length that it is. In fact, I can best sum up the story as being quite charming. On that note, all that is left to say is that Adric is a big teddy bear who I’d love to hug!

Title: Catch Me When I Fall Author: John Wiltshire Genre: Paranormal Length: Novella (110 pages) ISBN: B00ODF2U2E Publisher: MLR Press (October 9th, 2014) Heat Level: Medium Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts Reviewer: Zane Blurb: Being an ex-soldier, Jake doesn’t know much about angels, but shouldn’t they be…angelic?
What would you do if your guardian angel fell into your backyard? When an angel, Gabriel, falls from heaven, Jake takes him in.
Unfortunately, the presence of this beautiful creature stirs passions in Jake that should have remained buried in the mountains of Afghanistan. Why has Gabriel come to earth? Is he being entirely truthful about his mission? Gabriel’s presence forces Jake to make the hardest decision of his life: rekindle a relationship left bruised by the Taliban, or take a leap of faith on the promise of a creature made of sunlight and love.
Review: From the start, I was drawn to John Wiltshire’s beautifully crafted characters, who are teeming with vulnerability and sweet innocence. Gabriel the fallen angel is beautiful, he’s sexy, and he’s in love with a human. Jake (said human), is hiding from himself and his sexuality. A retired soldier, (now a park ranger), he’s the hottest one in the room (well, he used to be) and quite the womanizer – until Gabriel literally falls into Jake’s life.
Cue giggles and laughter (such well-written humor) as Jake deals with the intrusion of this angel into his life, as Gabriel deals with everyday life as a human, and as they both deal with Jake’s doubts and self-realizations.
The smooth, easygoing nature of the book does abruptly shift, and complications come into play. Jake and Gabriel are weighed down by harrowing uncertainty – Can an angel and a human find a happily ever? Will the forces beyond them allow such a thing? Will Jake’s fears and issues from his past intrude upon their present because of this uncertainty?
With this story, John Wiltshire delivers a literary Rom-Com complete with good feels and the requisite bit of angst. True to the genre, you do have the breakout supporting character that steals the proverbial show. In this case, it is Bob the wolfhound/dog, which is able to fully communicate with Gabriel (of course), and helps to forge a bond between the three that is both amusing and touching.
The path to true love is never smooth (especially when one-half of the couple is otherworldly) but in this case. It is at least vastly entertaining. I laughed at Gabriel, Jake and Bob and the hijinks that took place from the beginning and as they grew together. My gut clenched as I experienced their sadness (yes, Bob too) and I became fearful that their love wasn’t going to prevail. When I did finally put the book down, I’ll be damned if I didn’t have a huge grin on my face, because, yes, I was happy with the ending.
If you want to take a delightful and heart-warming journey with a fallen angel, an ex-soldier in denial of his sexuality to everyone including himself, and a wolfhound/dog named Bob, grab this one up. You’ll be glad you did.

Title: Happy Birthday To Me Series: N/A Author: Stephanie Burke Genre: Paranormal Length: Novella (66 pages) Publisher: Changeling Press, LLC (May 26th 2014) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥ 3.5 Hearts Blurb: Mason Klien, larger-than-life alpha, is just what Maxie needs to make his birthday night special.
Clancy Maxwell is an omega who is unique even to his own subspecies. He’s far shorter than most of the supposedly more delicate type, but the tiny redhead does not have a submissive bone in his body.
After ditching one a puffed-up alpha, the ex-stripper-turned-business-owner focuses his attention to Mason, an alpha with a small submissive streak.
Review: Set up on a blind date for his birthday Clancy “Maxie” Maxwell was not impressed. When Maxie has had enough lets it be known the blind date Alpha starts on the verge to violent another Alpha rides to the rescue and removes the blind date from hell. Mason and Maxie have an instant must have each other moment.
OK, that was short but cute… and damn was it hot.
The author packed a lot into the pages. I liked the writing and the fast-paced action. There was not a moment of lagging. It was also interesting the author’s take on the shifter world. My only real complaint is that it was too short. I liked the MCs right away. Maxie is a little powder keg of attitude. Mason is a powerful but sensitive big boy. The two of them together burned up the pages. I really would have liked more to their story.
This book is a good read when looking for something short and steamy.

Title: Touch Me: An Erotic Romance Author: Chris Scully Genre: Erotic Romance Length: Novella (73 pages) ISBN: B00NBJCPE6 Publisher: Chris Scully (September 23rd, 2014) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts Reviewer: Zane Blurb: Massage therapist Erik Morgan offers a very special after-hours service to a handful of select clients. From a young man anxious to explore his sexuality, to a stroke patient who fears he’ll never be a man again, Erik touches them all. But no one touches him. Not anymore.
Faced with a personal tragedy, Erik loses himself in helping others. Until one brave client turns the tables and gets under his skin, and Erik finds himself touched in unexpected ways.
Warning! This gay erotic romance novella is intended for an adult audience. It contains explicit scenes of erotic massage, edging, rimming, m/m sex and a vibrator or two.
Review: I had a feeling I would like this novella (I’m a fan of Chris Scully’s work) and I was not disappointed. From the start, Erik is a character you feel for – harboring his own emotional trauma. He helps others and uses that to bond with his ailing partner. What an emotional ride – the journey of love, loss, finding new love, and a May-December romance as well.
The characters are very likable; the two MCs are absolute sweethearts. The story is gripping from the get-go, and I was rooting for everyone, including the secondary characters being helped by our lovely Erik. The points of view are very clear, the love between couples is strong, and the sex, well, that was hot, too!!!
This book may be short in length but it certainly is not short in substance. Chris Scully is a great storyteller with the ability to elicit deep emotion, both from her characters and her readers. If you are looking for love, lust, laughter and tears in a short read, this book and this author are definitely worth your while.

Title: Stories Beneath Our Skin Series: N/A Author: Veronica Sloane Genre: Contemporary Length: Novel (210 pages) Publisher: Torquere Press, Inc (April 9th 2014) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 Hearts Blurb: Tattooing might have once been Liam’s passion, but he left it all behind along with ugly memories when he went to college. When his uncle’s health fails, Liam must come home at last to say his goodbyes. His days are spent at the hospice, leaving his nights to rake over the past. To fill those empty hours, he takes a job at Great Sin Ink.
The close-knit friendship of the workers there both intrigues and shakes Liam, who has spent the last four years keeping everyone at arm’s length. Neither Deb, the no-nonsense piercer, nor Goose, a manic tattoo artist, will let Liam get away with his isolationist ways for long.
If it were just those two, Liam might have stood a chance — but there’s also Ace, the owner of Great Sin. He hires Liam despite a thin resume, and that is a kindness Liam can’t forget. The two start up a tentative friendship, learning about each other as the summer days melt into each other. Slowly, Liam reveals a tender heart underneath the wall of quotes he uses to keep everyone out. Unfortunately, life doesn’t stand still, and both Liam and Ace have hard struggles before them that might break them up before they can even get together.
Review: Liam has had a pretty screwed up childhood. His parents were put into prison for fraud when he was young. His uncle by marriage took him in and was more of a father to him than his own ever was. Now he is home to say goodbye as his uncle slowly dies in hospice. To help him cope at night he gets a job at a local tattoo parlor. Liam gets drawn in by the three people he works with. But it is Ace that really gets him to open up about his past and let some of it go.
Ace is a small package but he definitely comes packed with strength. He is nine years older than Liam and has had his share of life issues. He looks anything like a stand up guy, but he is a very honorable man. He takes Liam in his shop even though Liam does not have much experience. He and has his crew make Liam feel welcome and make him a part of their group. The two of them bond over their individual family issues. As he gets to know Liam, he makes him feel safe in trusting him and opening up.
Liam and Ace work well together. They are very believable MCs. Liam has kept people at arms length for a long time because of a really screwed up relationship he had at 16 years old. He has not let another man get close enough to him again. By having a friendship first, they learn each other before even entering a sexual relationship.
They are both attracted to each other, but I liked the slow build up better. It worked with the with type of personalities Liam and Ace had. Liam needed to trust Ace, before he could even think about sex with him. Ace never pushed for anything. He let things take the time needed. This pays off for both of them in the long run.
This book is about love, friendship, and trust helping to heal wounds. This was not just a romance about Liam and Ace. There are also the secondary characters who help with the healing of Liam. They don’t leave him alone in his corner. They drag him into their lives. They give Liam a new support system, a new family. Liam comes to rely on them just as much as he does Ace. All of them together make me wish I could have a family as cool and unconventional as they are.
There is a bit of angst but honestly, it just makes it all that much better. From start to finish I was drawn in and loving each moment.
This was beautifully written. I would suggest this to anyone looking for a heartwarming story with some well thought out characters and situations.

Blurb: The bronc in the arena can kill, but it takes a man to destroy…
Daniel Blake and Tristan Wells are committed to their two-year relationship, and to keeping it a well-hidden secret. When a competitor lets them know their secret isn’t so well hidden after all, the ground isn’t the only thing that comes up to hit hard. Danny’s facing scrutiny from rodeo management for alleged misconduct, and Tristan thinks that Ben Kincaid from Crow Creek Ranch is just the man to help ferret out who has it in for them. Wyoming isn’t known for being tolerant of “alternative lifestyles” and men who take on broncs and bulls for a living aren’t strangers to playing rough, in and out of the arena.
With their future on the line, Tristan and Danny’s relationship will be tested by those out to see an eight-second ride turn into a world of failure. Ben’s determined to have his new friends’ backs, in more ways than one. Even if they survive the spills and attacks, will Danny and Tris’s future survive Ben?
Review: This is the fifth book in the series and stands alone pretty well. If you read them all in order, you would have a better understanding of the supporting characters and how Danny and Tristan met, but having said that there is adequate backstory on the main characters so that you can enjoy this story.
Danny is a Flankman for the ranch he works at and is moving up. He has dreams for him and Tristan to start their own business and to be together as partners in every sense of the word. Tristan wants that just as much as Danny if not more.
Danny’s boss gives him the opportunity to make some extra money acting as an agent for him in a rodeo in Wyoming. Tristan goes along so they can get a little alone time. Crow creek is a stopover so they can meet a man to see about breeding a mare that will give Danny and Tristan the beginning of their dreams.
They meet Ben and there is an attraction between the three men. Ben goes with them to the rodeo to help out and their friendship bonds strengthen. But is it more than friendship for all three men? Will this strengthen or harm the relationship with Danny and Tristan.
There are twists and turns galore in this book. I was on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next with nearly every page turn. I loved Danny and Tristan and the contrast between the two men. Their relationship is smokin’ hot and the added tension with Ben made it even hotter. I loved the rodeo action and the love scenes and fight scenes were like watching a movie. I really liked the sex. It was smoking hot without being overly explicit and gave the feeling of emotion between the men.
If you like, rodeos, ranchers, vets, horses, spunky teenage girls, lots of twists and turns, a strong committed relationship and some smokin’ hot man-sex this is for you.

Ben calls things as he sees them, including the way Carl uses his college-aged son Chester as a reason not to make changes in his life, or even to cut his hair. The truth is hard to take, but it forces Carl to look at himself in a new way, and maybe get rid of his sideburns, too.
And in the end, a haircut, a Polo shirt, and willingness to find love in unexpected places might be just enough to bring two very dissimilar men together, in spite of it all. ISBN: 9781611246711 Product Link: http://www.amberquill.com/store/p/2035-The-Hippie-Whisperer.aspx Reviewer: Gigi Review: A cute, short and sweet reawakening for an aging hippie whose bird is leaving the nest, and leaving himself to reexamine who his is and what he wants for the future.
The trouble making, and matchmaking son, Chester, sees that his dad, Carl, is not living life for himself, but holding on, maybe a bit too tightly to his son, and Chester feels the guilt and weight of that.
So….he tries to set his dad up, and boy howdy does he! Ben is rather blunt, but he achieves the job of waking Chester’s Dad up to living life for himself for once. Stepping out of his comfort zone, changing his appearance, his social life, and his love life are all things that Ben will spark Carl to do.
The Hippie Whisperer is a cute story, with a hot scene here and there, which put a smile on my face.

ISBN: B00PLH9A94 Product Link: http://www.amazon.com/Cherished-Mate-Moon-Pack-Book-ebook/dp/B00PLH9A94/ Reviewer: Lisa Review: This is the fourth book in this amazing series and I had a blast with this book. It has amazing characters that you will fall in love with. I love the fact that the mates don’t actually get along at first or that there is a little bit of angst going on. I also love the fact that there is that dangerous situation that draws you in. have you sitting on the edge of your seat with your heart in your throat wishing for their safety.
Nicholas and Anton both have their own desires, fears, pain, and trouble going in their lives. Nicholas had started getting jealous of his family for finding their mates. He just wanted his own. Anton had been kicked out of his pack by his own father and alpha. Now he was alpha of his own pack, but the problem was he didn’t want to be Alpha.
So when he found his mate, things were not going as expected since rescuing Nicholas from his captors but he was bound and determined to show the man how he cared for him. Now if only Nicholas would get his head out of his ass.
I had a blast reading this story and cannot wait to read the next story. It caught my attention from the moment I started reading and kept it all the way to the end. It also gave me almost everything I could ask for in a love story. If you love sexy shifters, a bit of pain and anger, a touch of fear, excitement and some hot sex then you really should read this book. I loved it and cannot wait to get my hands on the next book.

Title: The Goat Farmer’s Guardian Series: A Paranormal’s Love, #10 Author: Charlie Richards Genre: Paranormal/ Shapeshifter Length: Novella (101 Pages) Publisher: Extasy Books (November 15, 2014) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥4Hearts Blurb: Into the Paranormal World: Sometimes getting a crash course in things unknown doesn’t always end in disaster.
Zander Wheeler knows they’re out there: shape shifters, vampires, and other things.
Having lost his wife over a year ago, Zander finds himself seduced by a married man. Ashamed, Zander asks his friend Logan McByrne to help him sever ties. Logan agrees, and in doing so, reveals a whole new world to him. Zander learns that his lover is a vampire, which is why he’d become so enamored with him. Then, Logan hooks up with a wolf shifter, and to top it off, a massive winged creature—the gargoyle Geoffrey, according to Logan—is claiming he and Zander are mates.
When Zander demands they all leave him alone, save for Logan, they agree. Still, some sixth sense tells Zander he hasn’t seen the last of Geoffrey. He’s right. When one of his billy goats becomes aggressive, Geoffrey swoops in and saves him. With Geoffrey keeping to the shadows, they begin a dialogue. The more they talk, the more Zander realizes they may not be all that different after all.
Except, he’s already been played by one paranormal. Can he open his heart to another?
Review: This is the tenth book in this series and they should be read in order. It gives you a new romancing couple with each story and an insight into their amazing world. A world that fascinates me and draws me in. A world that I would dream to be in.
I have been a fan of Charlie Richards for quite a long time. In fact, the first story was with the Wolves of Stone Ridge. You meet the gargoyles through the other series. There’s always an intriguing mix of stories set in varying locations and with an assortment of all sorts of character types. Different types of the paranormal world are characters in these amazing stories. Characters that I have to tell you will draw you in and have you falling in love.
Zander had met the paranormal’s in such a way that left him feeling raw and scared. He had been not on lied to by a vampire, but the vampire had used his powers to get what he wanted. Now he was afraid to be near any paranormal, even his own mate. Now here he was being protected by a gargoyle and that man just happens to be his mate. Now all he has to do is to figure out how to overcome his past.
Geoffrey has found his mate, and now all he wants to do is to comfort him and show him that now all of them is bad. When the vampire that made him afraid shows up asking for help, it was all he could do not to kill him. With his mates urging he finds them all in a mess.
However, for me it just seemed to go to fast. It was missing that edge that would make it perfect. However, I still loved this book and cannot wait to get my hands on the next one.
This was a fun read, full of quirky attitudes and steamy sex. Although it has a great plot, the story seems to be more about the characters and the love they have for one another. Charlie has always managed to give her readers that tasty delight. The readers get to know the characters pretty well in the earlier stories so that by the time they get to this story they have already fallen in love with Geoffrey and Zander.
It caught my attention from the moment I started reading and kept it all the way to the end. Now normally when it is a paranormal story they usually mate and have sex right away. In this story, you have to wait just a bit to get the full ride.
I would recommend reading this story especially if you love sexy men, gargoyles, excitement, danger, feisty attitudes, and tempting turn ons.

But Burdo has plans, armed robbery amongst them. When Davey recoils from his efforts at blackmail, Burdo swears he’ll track him down. There’s something inhuman about Burdo’s rage, and Davey panics and runs from him. The town is small, the darkness beyond it absolute. It’s the first night of winter, and set to freeze hard. Not much chance of survival for a man without shelter, a man on the run from his past… Then Davey stumbles into the forest, and his fears of Burdo and the cold dissolve to nothing at the sound of deep, bestial growls.
The moon is full. Ancient moorland legends are coming to life in its silvery radiance. Out of the woodland steps a strange young man, and the snarling beasts fall back. He’s offering sanctuary, but at what price? He’s the most beautiful creature Davey has ever seen. If Davey follows him in fascination through the gateway of Wolf Hall, what secrets will unfold before the dawn? ISBN: 9781910224120 Product Link: http://www.harperfox.net/books/wolf-hall/ Reviewer: Gigi Review: A bad past, and a bad ex-boyfriend are haunting Davey nowadays. Fox starts us in s seedy diner in Davey’s ex-mining hometown to have a meet up with his ex-boyfriend Burdo who only seems to dredge up bad memories and bad feelings for him.
Davey has spent years trying to get a new start, an education, a job, a way to get out of his small town and away from his past. He feels pride and guilt in turn until he sees Burdo, who only makes him feel guilt, and resentment.
Burdo has not tried to better himself, only taking a downhill turn to a life of crime and drug abuse, and now he wants to abuse his past relationship and friendship with Davey. Burdo tries to use Davey’s guilty conscience to make him assist in robbing a local store by gunpoint so he can pay his debts, and get his hands on more drugs.
When Davey stands up for himself, stops Burdos’ plans and attempts to seek help, he finds himself running for his life, directed by a witch to choose Wolf Hall as shelter, and running right into a mysterious man’s paws…ahem…arms.
This is where Davey’s life truly becomes strange and twisted, as he finds himself instantly attracted to this man, feels safety in his arms, and a need to confide everything with him, and reverse that role of secret sharing to cast light on the secrets of Wolf Hall…
A fun twist on coming of age for a shifter, and becoming part of the clan, for Davey who has been outcast most his life. Will he find shelter, and commitment, and a new start in this most strange of places?
A fun read, wish it were a novel instead to the details and plot could be longer and more layered…basically great enough to want more!

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order.
This book has a unique take on the paranormal world. They were created by the Gods to save the earth from being destroyed by the humans. However, humans imprisoned the shifters and mystics when they showed their gifts at birth.
The psy were able to hide, but they developed a jealously over the fact that the other paranormals seemed to have immortality and were stronger. Now the psy are trying to wipe out the shifter and mystics and take control of the human race. Each book has a main couple that finds their chance at love and happiness. But there is the overall story arc of the war going on between the paranormals.
Aleski is the Alpha Primus, the leader of the Shifter – Mystic Alliance. He led the fight to free paranormals from humans and he now leads the war against the psy who are jealous of their immortality. He has been alone a long time and is so happy to find his mate in Seth, even if he is a psy. He will do anything to protect him from both the psy and his own people. He is the big bad Alpha. But Seth brings out the gentleness in him. Seth has seen the worst the psy has to offer. He was used as an experiment by his own parents to gain more power.
He runs from them after they try to force him to kill a young wolf shifter. Seth has run to the one man he thinks can help him, Aleski. Little did he know he would find the one man who would be able to give him safety and love for the first time in his life.
Together Alek and Seth burn up the pages. Their sex scenes are hot and leave nothing to the imagination. Alek is strong and powerful and uses that to protect Seth. But he is also gentle and loving to Seth. Seth is a spunky package that has no problem arguing with Alek. He keeps Alek on his toes and will not sit in the background. I loved him right away in the opening of the book. The interaction between them is a times tender and sweet, hot and steamy, or laugh out loud hilarious.
This story drew me in. This was well written with very good imagery. It gives the history of the paranormal race and the MCs without being overdone. The secondary characters are interesting and made me want to learn more about them in their own books.
This book is a very good first entry in the series.
Blurb: World-renowned avian vet Sebastian Grant is so sure bird shifters aren’t real that even when an unruly cockatoo named Louis ends up naked in his arms, it’s difficult for him to admit he’s not imagining it. Louis might be everything Sebastian has been looking for in a partner—funny, confident, sexy, and genuine—but there’s one major problem: Louis is a captive in a gilded cage.
With the help of Simon, his blue jay partner, Jay, and the expanding team of Undercover Peckers, Sebastian finds out he’s willing to do anything to make sure Louis is able to fly free and cock strut to his heart’s content.
Review: This book had me with the first paragraph! It is book two of a series and stands alone pretty well but I think you would have a better understanding by reading them in order. Plus the first book was just as good and funny!
Luis is a bird shifter. He has no idea why he is different from other birds or has to shift once a month into a man. Luis also likes being a bird, and loves his owner a lot. He has been getting the itch to dance more and shift more lately and knows it’s time to shift and go to the nearby club. He doesn’t drink but he loves to dance. This visit doesn’t go well. He runs into a man who gives him water and insists he go with him. Luis feels funny and wakes up in Jay and Simon’s car. He finds out that he isn’t alone as a shifter, that Jay also is one and they have formed a group for humanoid/bird shifters called Under Cover Peckers. He also finds that Simon and Jay are mates even though Simon is human.
I absolutely loved this book. I have found that whenever I see one of these type covers from Dreamspinner press I can expect a very fun, intriguing story with lots of laughs. I am going to admit when I got the first book the title especially the series name didn’t really thrill me much. After reading the blurb, I decided to give it a go and was hooked. I suggest if you’re in a down mood and need cheering up go to Dreamspinner and look for these illustrated covers or this series and I promise you will laugh yourself into a better mood!
What I loved the most about this story aside from the humour is that these men are birds, not big vicious animals. I also love the connections between them and their humans. I LOOOVED Luis and his dancing.
If you like a humorous romance, hot and sexy men, unique shifters, bird puns, hot but not overly done man-sex and a fabulous story, this is for you. I can’t wait for the next Pecker!
Blurb: You never forget your first love, even if you didn’t realise he was.
Sheriff Sean Keller hides a terrible secret – he watched a heinous crime committed eighteen years ago and did nothing to prevent it. Now he finds himself face to face with Eden Gray, the victim of that crime, who is now not so much the boy anymore, but the man. Eden makes Sean sit up and remember those forbidden desires he thought he had locked away forever and the guilt, which has blighted his life.
Review: Sean Keller is the Sheriff of Clearwater Creek. He witnessed a crime involving Eden 18 years ago. He has hidden his secret for all this time since Eden left town. Now Eden has returned and he doesn’t plan to let Sean forget.
I really love this book. It is a bit dark and angsty. There is a deep storyline filled with emotion, twists and suspense.
I loved Sean figuring out his feelings and his love for Eden Gray. I actually was happy at first that Eden and Sean got together, wanting Sean to have happiness and to make peace with his past. I commended him for that and finding how he had loved Eden all these years and carried this burden endeared me to him more (yes, I love the stubborn butthole types).
Eden I wanted to shake sense into him on more than one occasion. I found this story so romantic and even heart wrenching at times. (I am a sucker for heart wrenching romances.) It is definitely not a love at first sight kind of story.
I recommend this story to anyone that loves sexy small-town sheriffs, a nice well-paced character driven romance, some mystery and suspense, lots of angst and some hot mansex. I highly recommend this book.)
