Review: The band Bam Kiseu consists of band members that are vampires. Ki-Tae and his brothers are a tight family along with the father who saved then from their lives at early ages. When a group of university students win a contest they work together with the band for a period of time. Jin-Woo is part of this group.

A threat soon appears, threats are made against Ki-Tae and Jin-Woo. The family and students work together to protect the ones threatened and discover who the culprit is. This was a wonderful blend of several cultures. The most unique and interesting aspect about the story is it told from the band members and the students different POV’s.

I was intrigued to read about each characters thoughts and feelings as the story progressed. I truly enjoyed the story and learning about everyone and their abilities. The different couples was an added bonus but I do admit I was a little put off by the female in the group as I did not want to read m/f.

There is a glossary at the beginning of the book to help with certain words which was a great help as I read. Great story with a lot of depth and drama.

Great read

Angus might have the power to fight Vinland and the Warlock College, but the cost will be terrible. Saka is torn between helping Angus and stopping him. And Terrance would do anything for Angus, but he’s terrified of the man Angus is becoming, even as Saka is warming to the idea of a relationship between the three of them.

Review: This is a culmination of the previous two books. Angus, Terrance and Saka are fighting to keep the worlds from being destroyed. It’s a journey into finding out what they are capable of and the reason they are slowly driven to be together at times.

I loved everything about the book. From Angus’ life and what he discovers to Saka and his fight with his own feelings as well as the struggle the three face throughout. It was a well written thought out story that immerses the reader in an awesome series.

I do not want to give away to much so I’ll leave my review with saying it was a great journey.

Fantastic read.

Blurb: The blood sacrifices have brought rain to Demonside, but across the void, the Warlock College of Vinland is still storing and gathering magic, heedless of the warnings of the international magical community. The underground is full of warlocks who disagree with the college, but do they care about wizards and demons or only about snatching power?

With a foot in each world, Angus is no longer sure whom he can trust. The demons don’t trust humans, and even though he is learning more magic, he will never be one of them. He is human and only tolerated. Some demons would be happy to slit his throat. It’s only because his demon is powerful in his own right that Angus is alive.

Saka only has a year to prove that Angus’s people can change and that the magic taken will be rebalanced, but the demons want action. His affection for Angus is clouding his judgment and weakening his position in the tribe. Time is running out, and he must make a choice.

Review: This is the second story in the series. Two worlds that depend on the each other are being thrown off due to an imbalance. The results of what could happen are frightening and scary for the characters. Angus finds himself growing attracted to his college friend Terrance as Saka comes to terms with his feelings for Angus.

I loved everything about this story. The characters were well thought out and played their parts to bring this book to life. I loved the dynamics between the worlds as we traverse between worlds with Angus. The differences were plain to see.

The solution finding to the problem of the imbalance and it’s possible outcomes were terrifying. I found myself riveted to my seat as this brilliantly written story unfolded. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series to see what happens next.

Fantastic read.

Blurb: Arrigo Giancarlo’s friends think he’s a rich young man with the unusual job of paranormal investigator, working with his psychic assistant in Las Vegas. In truth he’s a two-thousand-year-old vampire and member of the Chiaroscuro, a group of Supernaturals dedicated to keeping humanity safe from the more dangerous of their kind. He’s also openly bisexual
 but alone.

When he spots Luc St. John in a bar, Arrigo is intrigued. What begins as an effort to repay the kindness shown to him in the past quickly turns into much deeper feelings for the suffering and displaced Cajun. For Luc’s part, he feels too poor, too uneducated, and too bound to his hateful family to ever be worthy of elegant and cultured Arrigo.

An old enemy, Eleni, blames Arrigo for murdering her true love. On the anniversary of that death, she’s back to take revenge. As Arrigo’s closest friends fall victim to savage attacks, he fears nothing will keep Luc safe. Should he break both their hearts and let Luc go, or is it too late? Review: Luc is trying to get away from his abusive father and brother. He does everything he can to save up money. He meets Arrigo, a vampire and ghost hunter. These two hit off but it’s not like in most books. They take their time as the story progresses. Luc feels Arrigo is his protector and as a result grows as a person.

I liked the story but felt there were a few thing lacking. The actual paranormal seemed just words as well as the council as nothing came about from anything. I thought perhaps this was a the beginning of a series due to the unanswered questions left at the end.

Aside from these things it was an interesting read with plenty of mystery, angst and finding ones self through the pain in their live.

Good read.

Blurb: Kill the dragon, marry the princess, and rule the kingdom. It’s a fantasy come true

Adam is a chemistry student and martial artist, active in his local chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism. But none of that prepares him to be the savior of a faraway land locked in perpetual dusk.

In a world of shape-shifters, necromancy, and religious politics, Adam is fated to slay the golden dragon, Khalivibra, and defeat its mind-controlling sorcery to help Princess Esmeralda of Aergon retake her city. Tradition dictates he’ll rule by her side—but Adam is much more interested in Duin, a warrior who changes to beast form in the light of the sun
 or fire.

Adam hopes he and Duin might end up together when their ordeal ends. But first, the reluctant hero, the spell-casting heir to the throne, the beast-shifting object of Adam’s desire, a six-legged cave lizard, and any allies they can gather must do the impossible
and live to celebrate their victory.

Review: Adam is pulled into a world where his help is needed. He is on a mission to acquire a weapon in the hopes that it will restore the balance that was destroyed. Duin is a sort of shifter that is dragged into helping Adam find the weapon.

There is a lot going on throughout the story as our brave souls set out on a journey fraught with danger around every turn. Magical creatures are all in abundance in this exciting story. I loved everything about the story.

The progression was both magical, adventurous, tense situations and at times sweet. I really enjoyed the entire book as I got to know Duin and Adam.

Fantastic read.

Review: This story is the second book in the Liminal Sky series and follows on from The Stark Divide so I’d advise that the books must be read in order.

The Rising Tide begins five years after the end of The Stark Divide with Eddy, now the Sheriff, starting an investigation into missing and slaughtered sheep. Eddy stumbles across something that shocks Eddy, Andy, Colin and the Immortals; it will also turn your stomach.

Before delving further into the story I would advise brushing up on the characters in The Stark Divide, because I went into this story cold and it took a bit of time for the characters to fall back into my memory. This story can’t be read without having all the background and characters stories that are fully fleshed out in The Stark Divide; you wouldn’t make it past chapter one without scratching your head and wondering what the hell you’d fallen into.

When we finished book 1 we knew that Davian would cause some problems in the future, and now we finally discover just what trouble Davian causes and boy is it a doozy.

The Rising Tide is split into three parts, Rendezvous 2171, Coup 2181, and Flight 2188. This really is an amazing story and while it has gay, lesbian, Trans and asexual characters I would actually say that this is a more mainstream story. There’s no romance as such and no one character to focus on. Each part sees progression for all the characters, their lives growing and changing, new main characters coming forward and some main characters being lost. As with the previous story there is a core of characters who have the centre light, as they age and roles change the younger generation take the spotlight.

There are shocking revelations, danger, depravity and sheer horror at times in the story; we also have love, understanding and forgiveness. There are several relationships being built, restored, explored and let go, I’d love to delve deeper but with so many main characters there’s just too many to describe. The main focus of this story is family, friendship and the adventure of surviving as a whole world inside a living world/ship, the last of humanity, the hope of the future, and free will.

This is an amazing story, the world building, the character development and story development which keeps you gripped as you discover what’s happening, are so fully flesh out that you get immersed in their world, you feel for the guys as they struggle to put their world to rights and battle an evil that wants to rule with an iron grip to serve his wants and whims.

As I reached the end of the book I began to wonder what could be next, the evil has been vanquished, safeguards have been put into place to protect the world mind, the last of humanity have begun to establish Governments for its cities and begun to rebuild after the devastation
so what is next??? I suppose we’ll have to wait and see.

I recommend this to those who love deep science fiction stories, who adore a storyline that pulls you along in its wake, who love interesting characters, who love the sheer instinct to survive, and an ending that leaves you feeling fulfilled but wondering what could be next for our intrepid survivors.

Review: A Demon Inside by Rick R. Reed is a rather spooky novel and not for the faint of heart. For anyone who has read the first edition of this book, I have to admit that I never read the first edition, so I’m not entirely sure what has changed since.

The story itself has left me with some rather mixed feelings. Being a DSP Publication means that any romance is not front and centre of the plot, and what romance there was throughout the story was really nicely done. However, it is not that aspect that has bothered me. The horror was fantastically written and I really enjoyed it. In hindsight, though, I think that there was some sort of spark missing with the horror that connected all the dots for me in my head. But mostly, I found that after the build up in the horror and the terror felt by Hunter, the ending was a little too flat and a little too quick for my liking.

Nonetheless, this book does the creepy and poltergeist things perfectly, so on the surface this is a fantastic horror story which may well leave you with chills running down your spine.

The story follows Hunter Beaumont and finds his life at loose ends when in a tumultuous short period of time his beloved grandmother dies and his boyfriend dumps him. In a move that is something like a classical gothic horror, Hunter decides to live in Beaumont House after being told by his grandmother on her death bed to burn it down. Beaumont House has no end of secrets (which leads Hunter to uncover the memory of when his parents had died when he was a child) and some of them are quite deadly (this is one house with a bad history).

The subplot featuring the neighbour of Beaumont House, Michael, is where the romance comes in. Michael is a sweet guy and matches well with Hunter. However, Hunter seems to spend a lot of time doubting his new relationship and I’m not entirely sure whether or not this is actually to do with the “demon” of Beaumont House or just Hunter being insecure. This adds a nice, lighter plot to the otherwise dark/horror we otherwise get.

Despite my conflicted feelings, this is a good book and anyone into horror and anything that is generally just creepifying (in the words of Joss Whedon) stories will at least enjoy this read.

Blurb: War is looming, and as the alpha, it falls to Dante to protect his shifter pack from the hybrid creatures spawned to prey upon them. To that end he joins forces with the Nephilim Odin in the hopes of keeping both their people safe, though past slights and animosity between the clans continue to cause strain. Attacks on the packs and Nephilim clans increase, and the seemingly endless army of hybrids will not stop growing. Dante knows their only chance to put an end to the carnage is to find the nest where his twin August and August’s mistress are creating the hybrids.

With entire cities being destroyed, Dante must call upon the pack weave to find the people who have been captured—and the nest. Dante and Odin gather an army for an all-out attack. Though a desperate and risky move, Dante has been backed into a corner and he sees no other alternative. It’s a battle they must win at any price, because the cost of losing will be catastrophic.

Reviewer: Shorty

Review: I have to say this second installment was brutal in its intensity. The packs and Nephilim join forces to stop a mad woman, Evaline an ancient Nephilim and august from creating more dangerous hybrids. The making of the hybrids is horrifying. Though those being attacked have no idea how it is being accomplished as the hybrids are neither pack nor Nephilim but something in between dead set on killing anything in their paths.

Odin a Nephilim is at the head of the fight to destroy the mistress once and for all as she is his sister who went mad and had been put to sleep many, many years before. With Dante and the other Alphas help he hopes to end things before it gets out of hand. Unfortunately things go from bad to worse before they can locate the nest as many pack members are taken captive during a hybrid rampage that devastates all.

Dante along with others attempts a rescue but things do not go well at all. I was in tears by the end of this story with the enormity of loss that had happened. I admire an author who has no qualms about killing off main characters when it suits the story. It was truly a magnificent read. Such devastation and sorrow for all involved.

I think what bothered me and had me scratching my head in confusion was August’s actions toward the end regarding his mate and son. I did not understand his actions to a point and I most definitely did not understand why he could not sense that Collin was still alive after the explosion. I mean he was an Alpha and as such was connected to his pack with a link. So it confused me why he did not know the child was still alive at the end.

I am highly anticipating the next installment to see what else happens in this riveting and heart stopping series. Full of suspense, mystery, chaos, devastation and action this book will immediately grab hold and not let go until the very last word.

Highly recommended.

In Epiro, a kingdom in Greece, Perseus is prophesied to be a great demigod hero and king, with a legacy that will shape the world of Gaia. When he was born, his grandfather exiled him, and his mother brought them to Seriphos, where she created an academy for demigod youth. Perseus trains there and waits for the day when he will be able to take the throne of Argos.

Despite potential future glory, Perseus’s fellow students think he is weak. By the time he reaches manhood, he has given up the hope of having any real friends, until Antolios, a son of Apollo, takes an unexpected interest in him.  Perseus and Antolios fall in love, but Antolios knows it cannot last and leaves Seriphos.

Perseus, grief-stricken and lonely, rebels against the Fates, thinking he can avoid the prophecy and live his own life.  But when the gods find him, he is thrust into an epic adventure. With his divine powers, he fights gorgons and sea serpents, and battles against his darker nature. Perseus strives to be his own man
but the gods have other plans.

Review: This is the first book in The Godhead Epoch series.  This book was an interesting journey about one man’s, Perseus, journey through life from childhood to adult and the challenges he faces throughout as he strives to live his life the way he wants to and not the way the gods want him to.

But gods have a way of getting what they want. I felt some scenes were a little rushed and without a lot of details that would have made it so much better. The thing that upset me the most is all the mf in it after the halfway mark as I’m a mm only reader. So I skipped those scenes altogether.

Some of the story seemed to be slow while others were fast paced. The battle scenes should have been slower with more depth to them. Since this is the first book in a series I assume another will follow soon. While I’m looking forward to reading it I do hope there will be more details and a whole lot less mf in the next one.

It was an o.k. read.

Review:  I never thought that I would be a fan of this type of book but then again in this story they really are not what one would expected.  They are infected and changed, even those who are born infected such as our sexy private detective.  He is different from all the others.

I was impressed with the fact that it was one of those stories that you just couldn’t put down till you finished the story. Although I have to say that the first part dragged on for way to long.  I think if it didn’t have all the added stuff to it; it would have gone way above what it ended up being for me.

I love the fact that it doesn’t follow the normal stereotype of paranormal.  In this story it means that a shifter can turn into their big cat just like a werewolf does, during the cycle of the moon.  It can be spread just like sexual diseases, through blood and semen so it is easy to become infected.  Just like many infections you could change or you could die.  It really just depends on how strong you are, and if you are younger then you have more of a chance to survive.  I love the world this author created for her readers and damn the guys are hot.

Roan is an ex-cop now private detective who tries to solve the crimes involving other infected.  He was born an infected and changed into a big ass lion. Roan is so different from the others; in the fact that he is not ill nor is he disfigured like so many others.  He is a bit snarky and can be a pain in the ass, where as the man he has fallen in love with is the opposite of him.

Paris is a tiger shifter and he is a people person.  It is what got him infected in the first place.  He is gorgeous and a bit stuck into himself or should I say vain.  Now while we have the two love birds, we also get several different mysteries going on.  From missing people to find to a very crazy group of religious nuts jobs, a cat that is on the loose and needs to be put down in my mind, to a group that hates those infected and lots of trouble in between.

Now like I said this story starts off very slow and almost cause me to put the book down with disinterest, it slowly built into a pretty awesome story.  I wasn’t too sure about the fact that the author put so much into this story but it turned out that it worked.  The complexity of the characters and what was going on kept my attention longer than I thought it would.  I loved the little twists that I found in it also.

I loved the romance our two sexy guys have going on and can’t wait to hear more about them in the future. I didn’t much care for the clichĂ©s that were in this story, nor the gay remarks that were throughout it but what can I say there is always something that you will find in all stories that you won’t much like.  It doesn’t take away from the book at all though, so it was all good.  I enjoyed reading it, but can admit that it won’t be one of those series that I read back to back.  I also can’t see myself reading it more than once, but it is very interesting.  It is just way too long for me to want to even read it twice, once is good enough for me.

Other than my little issues, this is one story that I would definitely recommend.

Review: I am at a loss for words for this book. It was brilliantly written. Kristopher and Michel evade capture at every turn while at the same time finding out they have traitor in their midst.

Heart-stopping, heart-breaking at times and dangerous this story is the continuation from the previous books. Kristopher will do anything to save Michel. I found it touching the love these two felt for one another and was cheering them on as they progressed.

The resistance as well as allies are helping in Michel and Kristopher’s journey. There are twists and turns that riveted me and I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat awaiting the outcome.

Fantastic read.

Review: This continues from book one. Kristopher and Michel are on the run yet again. When they stop to help civilian after a bombing they are separated. From here there are two separate journeys so to speak.

We see how Michel is with the resistance and helping them with a fellow member before it’s too late. While at the same time Kristopher is trying to survive his own dilemma. There were many variables and characters interacting throughout this intense story.

I really felt for Kristopher and Michel as neither knew if the other was even still alive. Still they journeyed hoping against hope to one day be reunited. The Gestapo did not let up in their pursuits for a second. it lead to some raising moments throughout.

Well written and tense at times, this story grabs hold and does not let go until the last word.

Great read.

Review: A story set in Germany. A group of resistance members must save one of their own, Michel, and  physicist Dr. Kristopher Lehrer from the deadly Gestapo hellbent on capturing the man for his knowledge of creating a weapon.

While I understood that love knows no bounds despite the era I was concerned for the two men. Despite the danger to their lives the men grow closer while keeping on the run to avoid capture. This was a well written story with a lot of history for it’s time period. I felt as though I was actually there with them on their journey. The danger was intense, the journey perilous and the love genuine.

So many times I was afraid for both Kristopher and Michel. I loved all the details and explanations even though it made for a longer read. It gave me a better understanding of the story by the time it was done.

Great read.
