Erzabet Bishop, Emjay Haze, Chad Brian Henry, DC Juris, Samantha Luce, Megan McFerren and Val Prozorova, Charles Payseur, Jessica Payseur, Janelle Reston, Rob Rosen, Lynn Townsend
The Time of Your Lifemight slip away if you don’t watch out! Tales from deep space, the open road, reality television, fantasy-academia, and contemporary life are brought together in this collection.
In Jessica Payseur’s Orbits, longtime friends-with-benefits meet unexpectedly on a space station and finally sync their technology.
Warren’s Peace by Emjay Haze, Duet by Megan McFerren and Val Prozorova, and A Change is Gonna Come by Rob Rosen take the reader on the road—via a Caribbean cruise ship, the railway system of France, and the California Interstate, respectively.
A happy home is the goal, but when Chad Brian Henry gives two happily married men constant drooling and barking in the form of A Problem Called Travis, they unhappily realize their aim may not be as true as they thought.
Two authors invite us to weddings! Erzabet Bishop and Lynn Townsend each use humor and surprise, found in the commonplace, to lead newlywed wives in First Night and two grooms-to-be in Wedding Marchtoward discovering and remembering why they went to all this trouble in the first place.
The Color of Magic, by Charles Payseur, lets us watch and learn with three university students, who challenge authority to secure the future. In a more typical college setting, a shy roommate and an outgoing roommate delight each other with A Taste of What’s to Come, written by Samantha Luce.
Straight off the small screen, Food Play Extreme, by Janelle Reston, serves a platter of competition and confidence to three top chefs. And in D.C. Juris’ A Good Bargain, age and experience is indeed a good match for youth and beauty.
Don’t ignore the ticking of that clock—it’s the time of your life!

Who Better Than Canyon
by
D.C. Juris
When Canyon’s ex-lover, Robert, dies, he leaves behind a last request that Canyon take word of his passing to Simon, an old friend on the east coast. Canyon reluctantly agrees, and soon finds himself falling for Simon, despite the nagging belief he shouldn’t, and his guilt over his part in the accident that claimed Robert’s life. Simon knows something Canyon doesn’t — Robert’s death wasn’t an accident, but a suicide, and Robert’s intent was for the two men he left behind to come together. But Robert’s plan didn’t account for two things: Simon’s disbelief that anyone can truly love a soon-to-be-cripple, and Canyon’s staunch decision that the next man he gives himself to will give him a wedding ring first. Can Canyon and Simon set aside their own issues long enough to see what lies between them, or will they both miss out on their happily ever afters?
Blurb: Captain Korden Encarit of the North Star thought he’d lost the most important person in the universe to him – his brother and lover, Rennett.
A year later, Rennett has been found alive, a captive on a hostile planet. Only when their sibling link reactivates does Korden realize how bad the damage is: stripped of his mental strength, Rennett is now a Broken Alpha.
With the help of his friends – ship’s Malorcian healer, Sokel, and his fiery Human mate, Sebastian – Korden must try and heal his brother’s mind and help him adjust to his new status as omega. But Rennett needs a mate, and it quickly becomes clear that no one is willing.
Will Korden give up everything he has worked for – his career, his ship – buck Presidian tradition, and risk the scorn of their father to save his brother?
Review:This is the first book in The Alpha/Omega Verse series.
Captain Korden Encarit of the North Star is experiencing strange symptoms lately. When the doctor and his mate discover how bad it is they help anyway they can. What is causing it? The link to his brother and lover, Rennett, who was taken prisoner a year ago has flared to life again as they grow closer to where he is.
It was absolutely horrible what all Rennett was forced to endure as his captives tortured him and broke the alpha inside him. He is now an Omega with a badly damaged mind who is afraid of everything. My heart broke for this once vibrant, bright man reduced to a shell of his former self.
With Borden’s help after the rescue, Rennet slowly recovers but he will never be the same as he was. I really enjoyed this story with its descriptions of space and the ship they are on. It felt as if I was there.
The one thing that did bug me was why two brothers in an intimate relationship? Thankfully there were not that many intimate scenes and as I usually only read one and skip the rest I was fine with it.

Blurb: Everything changed for werewolf Calliph after the Shifter War. Now nothing more than a slave and plaything to human Prince Obyn, Calliph finds himself on the Golden Magus, sailing across the sea with his owner. But fate has something more in mind for Calliph in the form of Ship’s First Mate Mateo—who just happens to be Calliph’s Omarati—his soul mate… and a werecat.
Heartbroken, Calliph knows he can’t stay with Mateo—he is forced to follow wherever Obyn leads. Years later, when an attack at sea lands Mateo in the hands of vicious pirates, the cat discovers that, though time has changed some things, his bond with Calliph is eternal.
Review: I loved this book. Calliph, Alpha wolf shifter, is the slave of an aggressive prince. The queen sends her son and Calliph overseas to study a trade. While aboard the ship he meets Mateo, a panther shifter. The attraction is instantaneous as Mateo realizes Calliph is mate.
But Calliph is a slave so they struggle to find time to be with one another until the day comes that the prince decides to travel taking Calliph with him. Fate is a funny thing that will always find a way to get what it wants.
Great read.

Title: 137 Owens Street, 2nd edition Series: N/A Author: DC Juris Genre: Other Paranormal Length: 61 pages Publisher: Torquere Press (December 16th, 2015) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥4 Hearts Blurb: Matthew is going insane. How else can he explain remembering things he doesn’t own or trips his wife never took? Not to mention the visions, and the phantom in the café. But when the man in the visions reaches out to him with an explanation, and the phantom from the café tracks him down, things start to make a little more sense.
Morgan is a devout Christian. He believes in God, Heaven, Hell, and the Bible. But his world spins out of control when his husband Matthew disappears and a mysterious man tells a tale outside the realm of reality. How can Morgan put his faith in something so far-fetched?
Review: Interesting story about two men, Matthew and Morgan, one of who is searching for the other after he disappears. I found it fascinating regarding different dimensions and the look a likes I guess you would call them in each dimension. This is the case in this book
I loved that Morgan never gave up on Matthew. Matthew for his part knew something was wrong but could not figure out what right away without help. Fascinating and intense at times. Keeps the reader’s attention to the very end. * I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review through http://mmgoodbookreviews.wordpress.com *
Title: Alone Together Series: N/A Author: DC Juris Genre: Contemporary Length: 39 Pages Publisher: Torquere Press (January 6th, 2016) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥3 Hearts Blurb: Ever have one of those days where you open your mouth and trip over every single word that comes out? Garrett Morris is having a bad day. On a scale of one to ten, it’s a twenty. Mind you, it should be going much better, considering he’s seeing Aaron, the secret love of his life, for the first time in a little over two years. But his wife’s homophobic family and his own big mouth keep getting him into trouble. If he’s not careful, he’ll lose everything—wife, job… and Aaron.
Review: I have read a few books by this author and I can honestly say DC has a great imagination and can give you a pretty fantastic story. However this one started out great until you get to the part where the guys are married. I am sorry cheating is downside for me.
Garrett was married but likes his brother-in-law, whereas Aaron is married to his wife’s sister. They hook up and things get even wilder. Until the truth comes out.
I can’t even give you a real review without giving things away. However for me as soon as the wives came into the picture I was done.
So I was quite disappointed in this story, but it won’t stop me from seeing what other stories this author has coming out.

Blurb: What’s an angel to do when having the one person he’s ever wanted means giving up his wings for eternity?
Ekenezer has been sent down to Earth for one last mission — to guard hapless klutz Nathan Bradley. He doesn’t know why Nathan is important, only that God has ordained he be watched over. As his “cover”, Ekenezer takes a position as Nathan’s boss, but soon discovers that he harbors more than simply protective feelings for Nathan. Ekenezer has never been attracted to anyone before, never felt lust, and certainly not for another man! But Nathan is a force that Ekenezer simply can’t resist. What’s an angel to do, though, when having the one person he’s ever wanted means giving up his wings for eternity?
Review: This is a quick, short read, which is quite enjoyable because of the fun it pokes at the religious extremists. The notion of one of God’s heavenly chosen falling in love with a mere mortal -and a man at that should be enough to have all the fundamentalists up in arms. The theme of the book, however, is quite simply that God knows and loves all of humanity, his creations, regardless of whom they love; and, that he considers each of them worthy of special attention, even the gay man who’s yet to discover the ‘important’ thing he has to do in his life. The entire story is about learning self-acceptance, how to love, and ultimately that love is the most important thing. The book references religion without getting preachy and allows the reader, regardless of their faith, to embrace the notion of a higher power and ‘its’ power over humanity.
This is Ekenezer’s story and about his struggle with his feelings and his realization that he’s going to choose to love Nathan regardless of the consequences. That notion of self-sacrificing love is the key element in the story. It’s a short, sweet read that will leave you with a smile.
Blurb:Award-winning reporter Emmer Richfield is the kind of guy who covers wars, the kind of guy who asks the hard-hitting questions. He is not—and he’s certain about this—the kind of guy who does sappy human-interest stories about homeless people. But, his newest assignment is not just any human-interest story. It’s a mandate from the mayor: convince the people of Dodson that Foxton Industries’ plan to build a mall—and oust the homeless population—is a bad idea by way of a feature on a homeless man named Pudding Jones. But Pudding quickly goes from just another story to a man who changes Emmer’s life. The question is, can Emmer return the favor before it’s too late?
Review: Okay so the blurb doesn’t give away plot lines and I certainly will not as I talk about this story. This is a well-written and heart-felt short story about a man, Emmer, who is irrevocably changed by meeting another man, Pudding Jones. The story is about a sweet and tender relationship and there are many dips and turns that will surprise you as you read. Learning about Pudding is heart-breaking. Watching Emmer evolve is awe-inspiring. Seeing them together is touching. This is also a story that peels back some of the fallacies of our homeless population and makes them real people instead of indispensable ‘things’ whom the larger population chooses to ignore. The story makes you think about who you are as a person and if you are really doing enough and if you are really as good as you think you are. This is a story that will end leaving you thinking about the possibilities of what was and what could have been. While I didn’t expect the ending, it was fitting.
I wanted to give the story a 4 and then realized that I was doing so because of an expectation that I had. That would be totally unfair to the ‘story.’ The story is an extremely good and well written one. So as an honest reviewer, it has to get a 5. Not OMG because I SO loved everything about it, but a 5 because oh so well written and I believe the author meant for us to think and question and well, DC … achieved that in spades. Nicely done!
Blurb: It takes a bloody battle, the death of several of his men, and a near death experience of his own for Afron to see what lies in his heart for Makara. Now the barbarian won’t let anything stand in the way of their destiny — not even the prostitute’s petulant (if half-hearted) refusal to see him.
Review: A fun, fast and quite enjoyable short story Heart of Stars is another take on the “whore finds love” theme, spiced up quite a lot by the era it’s placed upon.
Afron is a barbarian Chieftain. He has for long while visiting Makara, a whore that made an impression to him, yet he can’t bring himself to think more of that, or give the whore anything else but coins.
It does take a brutal battle to wake Afron from his blindness and see that Makara is not a mere infatuation, rather his fated mate. But the last time he visited Makara, Afron was told it indeed would be the last time. Could he have lost his love forever?
Now this was a story I’d surely love to read not in this short “peek a boo”, but in a rather developed novella. The idea is quite enticing, the execution and writing style were great, and the lingering wistfulness that accompanied the end of the story was unexpected. I mostly enjoyed the initial battle, the descriptions of which made me crave for more and more… *sigh*
As it is, if you’re in search for a hot Barbarian wrapped up in the spell of Fate and a sexy rent-boy, this is the story for you. The intimate scenes will make it while worth it.
Blurb: Two years is a long time to swear off love, but John Daily is doing just fine. Sure, he’s lonely, but he’s not risking his heart again. Not after what he went through, watching the man of his dreams wither away and die. His best friend, Sylvia, has other plans. She’s set him up with someone who will be perfect for him. Now, if she can just get him to the geek…
Review: It’s hard to pick up the pieces and gain the courage to start again after the tragic loss of your partner, and John knows this better than anyone. Too bad his meddling friend sets him up on a blind date. John needed a lot of pushing but after much contemplation, he decides that Mark wouldn’t have wanted him to live this way. While the first impressions make John think his friend Sylvia had no idea what she was talking about, a little persistence reveals his blind date, Bernie’s, true colors. Bernie tries to hide his true geekdom, but in the end, it’s all laid on the line. Will John be repulsed by Bernie’s sci-fi geek additions? Can one have hot passionate sex in a command chair? You must read this fun, light-hearted, sexy romance to find out!! A very fun read, sure to put a smile on your blushing face!
Blurb: Vance, Andrew, and Raine are back! We met this sexy trio in “Where He Belongs,” but now we get to find out how it all started. Raine’s world is turned upside down when his sister, Lilly, dies unexpectedly. She’s left him the Dew Drop Inn, and everything seems very cut and dry – he’ll sell the place and return to his calm, uncomplicated life. But his former lover, Vance, and Vance’s saucy sub, Andrew, have other ideas, and when Vance makes a counter offer, Raine is left wondering what the right thing to do really is. Is everything he’s worked for worth it without love? Can two powerful Doms even coexist under the same roof? (via Torquere)
Review: Raine Fall is a short follow-up to Where He Belongs, the novella that first introduced Andrew, Raine, and Vance, that focuses on Raine following his sister’s death. This offers an introspective look into Raine’s life since leaving Andrew and Vance, and a glimpse into his personal relationships. Though short, Raine Fall allows readers a unique chance to see inside a character’s thoughts about himself, his family, friends, and lovers. Although that can be interesting, Raine isn’t totally likeable, and there seems to be distance between his character and the reader that is difficult to bridge, leaving a slight disconnect between these three men and the reader.
Blurb: Haunted by nightmares, Mark learned the hard way to guard his heart. But Gabe may just be the man to bring Mark’s guard down.
After his last long-term relationship ended because of his nightmares, Mark closed his heart to the possibility of
finding love again. He’s certainly never considered Gabe, the orderly who works at Miller’s Retirement Home where his father lives. But there’s more to Gabe than meets the eye, and if Mark is willing to let Gabe in, he might just discover the most important buried treasure of all.
Review: This is one of the sweetest romances I’ve read in a long time. The lovey dovey starts pretty close to the beginning, but by the time we, as readers, jump in, Mark and Gabe have known each other for almost three years. So, it’s not technically “I just met you…now I love you.” Then they start having weekly coffee dates. Both wanting more, but leery that their personal secrets will be too much for the other to handle.
I can tell you, as a former nurse, that the author’s descriptions of the retirement home and an Alzheimer’s patient were spot on. My only complaint is that this book wasn’t longer.
