Both Aston and Grant have a talent for finding trouble—it’s what landed them at the Stanton School for Boys—but this time, their mischief might send them to a completely different world.

When they accidentally destroy their teacher’s priceless archaeological artifacts, he demands they replace them. And since the teacher in question is Merlin, refusing isn’t an option for the two boys. Thanks to Merlin’s magic, they’re about to become time travelers.

The first piece on their list is the Eye of Ra, a mystical amulet belonging to the young King Tut. Ancient Egypt is nothing like Aston and Grant expected, with its war, disease, and lack of modern technology. To survive, they must befriend King Tut and learn to trust him—and each other. In a primitive world, where death and danger wait around every corner, one thing is clear: revisiting history could cost someone their life.

Reviewer: Shorty

Review: Grant and Ashton are two school boys who are thrust into the past to retrieve the Eye of Ra that was destroyed in a fire because of them. I found it intriguing and interesting that it was Merlin’s possessions that were destroyed. I liked that instead of reporting the boys he decides to take matters into his own hands and as a result the boys learn a valuable lesson in history first hand.

At times it seems as if the young men are not going to make it through the story in one piece. I felt myself immersed in a story that I would have enjoyed seeing with my own eyes.

Though this journey was not without danger, Ashton and Grant make the most of it while trying to stay alive. The environment was beautifully written as was the interactions. A magical and historical story that grabs you from the start and does not let go until the end.

Great read.

Laurent and the Beast

(Kings of Hell MC 01)
by

K.A. Merikan

Nothing can stop true love. Not time. Not even the devil himself.

1805. Laurent. Indentured servant. Desperate to escape a life that is falling apart.

2017. Beast. Kings of Hell Motorcycle Club vice president. His fists do the talking.

Beast has been disfigured in a fire, but he’s covered his skin with tattoos to make sure no one mistakes his scars for weakness. The accident not only hurt his body, but damaged his soul and self-esteem, so he’s wrapped himself in a tight cocoon of violence and mayhem where no one can reach him.

Until one night, when he finds a young man covered in blood in their clubhouse. Sweet, innocent, and as beautiful as an angel fallen from heaven, Laurent pulls on all of Beast’s heartstrings. Laurent is so lost in the world around him, and is such a tangled mystery, that Beast can’t help but let the man claw his way into the stone that is Beast’s heart.

In 1805, Laurent has no family, no means, and his eyesight is failing. To escape a life of poverty, he uses his beauty, but that only backfires and leads him to a catastrophe that changes his life forever. He takes one step into the abyss and is transported to the future, ready to fight for a life worth living.

What he doesn’t expect in his way is a brutal, gruff wall of tattooed muscle with a tender side that only Laurent is allowed to touch. And yet, if Laurent ever wants to earn his freedom, he might have to tear out the heart of the very man who took care of him when it mattered most.

Blurb: The wizard Merlin saw rot in his beloved Camelot. He asked aid from his Gods. They answered and, after a fashion, along with a bit of complicated magic, he got Alex.

Alexander Foster, a modern-day chef, fell into bed exhausted and alone. After a Technicolor kaleidoscope of a dream, he wakes up. He’s under a tree, in the great outdoors, and there’s a beautiful man wearing armor watching him.

Alex learns the beautiful man is Mordred, and apparently Merlin is waiting for him. So, off to Merlin and Camelot they go. On the way, he hears Mordred’s tale and the man’s loneliness breaks his heart.

He also finds he can’t keep his hands to himself.

Then, they reach Camelot and Alex meets King Arthur and Merlin and learns why he’s there. So now Alex has a choice to make: sit back and do nothing…or meddle.

Meddling sounds good.

Review: Merlin pulls Alex from his world to help Camelot. Upon waking, Alex is confronted by Mordred, a beautiful man newly a knight. Mordred is King Arthur’s son and a prince yet he is snubbed by others and treated poorly.

Alex sets about making changes to strengthen Camelot and cut out the wrongness that has been going on. The changes are for the good of Camelot and the future. I liked the things he changed as they made perfect sense.

Though I liked the story I was honestly expecting something else.

Review:  This is a very unique type of story that I have not had the pleasure of reading before.  I was pleased and, well, not so pleased with it.  Although I have to admit that I did like most of the book.  It is very entertaining and there is quite a bit of surprise and some suspense going on for the two sexy men.  I liked the concept that this book gave and can say that I wished we had it going on.  Let’s just say this year should be fixed.  It is a very interesting plot and I was surprised to find that I had a bit more fun than I would have expected.

Drake has been brought into the Oracle Group.  He is one of the top doctors in History one could say.  Jen is the one who recruited him, but they have become a very hot couple.  Sent back in time to fix the mistakes of time travelers is what they do.  Drake is the one who goes into the past, whereas Jen is the one who keeps him focused.  Sent back to the time of a plague has Jen scared to death.  Not of the actual mission but of the fact they have no clue what they are looking for.

Now the story itself progressed pretty fast however it was missing quite a bit to make it a top rated story.  I feel that it could have had more content, especially in the end.  It felt like it just ended too fast and there are no signs of a continued story to get further into.  Also you see when our sexy men meet, straight to sex and then into a relationship.  There was no build-up, no development, were thrown into a story right off the bat.  For me I wanted to see that build-up, that development, I also wanted to see a better ending then was given.

You do get a happily ever after but it just came off very rushed and I saw several sections that could have been expanded to make it a five heart review.  Other than those issues I saw with it, the story is quite interesting and I did have fun reading it.

Blurb: What’s a Viking to do when he ends up on a Florida beach, surrounded by a world he doesn’t understand, with a hyperactive stockbroker as his only guide? Go back to Chase’s hotel, naturally. Chase thinks Bjorn is eccentric at best, a lunatic at worst, or just maybe the real thing: a Viking from the days of yore. It isn’t easy for Bjorn to admit, but he needs Chase’s help to navigate the confusing modern age. While Chase is trying to clean Bjorn up and help him fit in, Bjorn’s sworn enemy also makes the trek through time. Jorund is eager to plunder this new land and finish the job of killing Bjorn’s family line, all in one blow. Bjorn and Chase will have to set aside their vast differences and work together if either of them wants to survive.

Review: Bjorn’s triumphant return to his village after long years of A-Viking takes a sour turn when he discovers his father’s dead and his killer has claimed the title of Jarl, beaten back to the shore by a greater force taking to the seas again seems his only option… until he’s caught in a terrifying storm with Jorund chasing him at his back. Waking up to a strange man and stranger land Bjorn can only keep a grip by hiding his fear and accepting the help of the strange man Chase.

Chase is supposed to be having a relaxing holiday when he stumbles across a man on the beach in old fashioned clothes, a terrible attitude but unsteady on his feet, feeling sorry for the man Chase takes him in but soon learns that he isn’t just concussed but is a genuine time-travelling Viking who has an enemy close on his tail.

I really enjoyed this story with its humor; it’s a great short story with two great characters and a cute storyline. There isn’t much substance to it but its fantastic entertainment, I just loved Bjorn’s creative swearing, ahh they sure did know how to swear back in Viking times!

There isn’t much in the way of a relationship; they meet, they lust, they have scorching hot sex, they get rid of the baddie and then happily ever after, so yeah don’t be expecting a huge romance in these 56pgs but what we do get does make up for it just through the pure entertainment of watching a Viking try to make sense of the 21st Century.

So I recommend this to those who want a fun read that has hot men, who love time-travelling stories that are short and succulent, and who love great characters and a hot Viking tale.

Review: A wonderful story of two young men in college who find out that all is not what it seems and that everything they thought they knew is wrong. Thrust into a magical world full of both allies and evil these must try to survive and complete a journey that has been foretold throughout the ages.

Marcus while sexy and athletic seemed arrogant and cruel at first until you find out the reason why. I felt bad for him that he had to hide who he truly was at the beginning. Toby seemed to bear the brunt of Marcus’ cruel comments. Toby is in love with Marcus and can’t figure out why he him the he does. A surprise request will throw these two together for a rather harrowing adventure into another world.

I loved all the details of the past that went into the books that Toby was a fan of. I suspected that maybe just maybe the places actually existed. I never however suspected another world altogether. This world is fraught with serious danger all throughout as people intent on evil deeds are out to destroy these two young men. I loved how the story progressed and Marcus and Toby worked together.

I was pleasantly surprised by who Toby and Marcus might be. Some scenes were hair-raising, intense and nail biting, while others were happy, sweet and joyful. Some of the creatures described in this book are horrifying and downright mean. The only thing I did not like was the way the time period would all of a sudden go back five days or ten days especially after a scene where the reader is left wondering what will happen. But I understand why it was done after completely reading the story.

I am looking forward to reading the next book in this amazing journey to find out what happens next. There is so much that happens and so many different characters introduced that it’s impossible to put them all in a review.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure, action, fantasy and paranormal.

Review: Marcus and Toby’s relationship is tested in this latest installment. The Duke is infatuated with Marcus and tries everything to convince Marcus to leave Toby. But amid the uncertainty of possibly losing Marcus, Toby tries to figure out how to defeat a great evil among them.

Betrayal, deception and danger follow the young couple as the story progresses. It did not surprise me in the least about the leader of the guards. He seemed cruel and without any morals.

I really enjoyed how complex yet well written the story was, there is a lot going on in this series.  The details and mystery were amazing. I was impressed and on the edge of my seat throughout.

Loved it.

Blurb: An Out of Time Novel

What began with a dead intruder and a missing scientist quickly becomes the most perplexing case of Detective Inspector Jacob Ofori’s career. Nothing about it makes sense, from the incredibly advanced technology found on the intruder to the scientist’s mysterious workplace, the Temporal Research Institute. Jacob’s gut tells him the TRI is hiding something, and the questions keep piling up: Who would abduct Sanders? What is the strange gate in his basement laboratory? How does it connect to similar gates in the TRI?

TRI engineer Kit Rafferty only wanted one night with the sexy older policeman, but Kit’s mouth tends to run away with him when he gets excited, and nothing gets him more excited than cutting-edge tech—like the intruder’s cybernetic eye. Suddenly Kit is pulled into the investigation—and into a relationship that could jeopardize both of their lives. Kit hates lying to Jacob, but he cannot reveal what really goes on at the TRI—time travel. Faced with time-jumping criminals but unable to share that knowledge with Jacob, Kit turns to a man who knows time travel firsthand: Janos Nagy.

Review: This was a fantastic read. DI Jacob gets a case where there is a murder but as the investigation begins it quickly is revealed that is anything but normal. Kit is an engineer at TRI. He’s very good at his job and his mentor was the missing Sanders. These two meet when the police start questioning the staff at TRI.

Kit ultimately gives the police a clue by accident that leads to even more questions and revelations, that some do not believe. The hunt for a deceptive killer leads to a revelation that shocks most of the world.

Great characters, hot romance yet tense at times, a wonderful investigation that is detailed thoroughly. I loved this story so much. It was brilliantly written with twists and turns throughout. I didn’t even suspect who the culprit was until they were almost revealed.

This book keeps you on your toes while it entertains at the same time. I can’t wait to see what else awaits in this series.

Fantastic read and highly recommended.

But as Ethan makes the familiar drive to his best friend’s house, an unexpected detour and a bewildering passenger take him through places in time he’d long forgotten. Review: This is the 2nd edition and has been added to and is 50% longer than the 1st. Ethan is returning home after a week of filming, and his welcome, is his girlfriend breaking up with him. Now he finds himself on his way to the one person who has always been there for him, his ‘forever’ friend Jude, but he ends up taking a side journey that opens his eyes to what he has been missing.

This is a sweet short that has a ‘Christmas Carol’ feel to it. Ethan is a film star, who, after being dumped, goes to the one person who is always there for him, Jude. But on his way to his best friend, he is waylaid by a woman who takes him on a journey of discovery. Ethan visits places in time that have happened to him before, but now, as an outsider he notices things that he never noticed before, and he comes to a startling revelation about himself and his own feelings.

Ethan is a great character who is just human, he might be rich and famous but he isn’t a diva, he is just ignorant of things around him that don’t concern him and his career. So he is given a wakeup call in the shape of ‘Ginger’, who takes him on a journey so that he can see what is right in front of his eyes and just what he is missing. Jude is an absolute jewel, and as we see him through Ethan’s eyes, as the revelations strike Ethan, we also realise, along with Ethan exactly what he has with Jude for his friend, in the shape of friendship and love.

So if you want a sweet story of revelations, of discovering oneself, and of friends to lovers’ story, of seeing beyond the obvious and a happy ever after, then this is definitely the book for you.
