Blurb: A lost gold coin, a centuries old leprechaun and a college student caught in the middle. What’s the worst that could happen?

Luke, an American exchange student studying abroad in Ireland, ignored his roommates when they told him to put back the gold coin he found in the garden. They warned him about what would happen if he kept the leprechaun gold. He might wonder if maybe he should have listened to them when a sexy, kilt-wearing leprechaun shows up that night to claim the last of the coins from his scattered pot of gold.

Review: Back in March, I reviewed this book. Back then, this was a very short story, magical, and with a hint of mischief as the leprechaun, Arn tricks human Luke into giving him his last lost coin back. But the trick was on him as he fell in love with the human and thus being forced to choose his immortality in the Fae Realm or a mortal life with his beloved. Yeah, guess what Arn chose.

In this revised and re-edited version we read all the above in a text much easier in our eyes, but with some additional scenes. Unfortunately, while the addition had quite an interesting aspect, I can’t help but feel that the length of the story was too short for proper development. As fun as the pair is and as romantic the idea of Arn leaving it all behind for his beloved, it was marred by a hasty change and twist of events that for me they simply felt as too much.

The initial text was already pushing those boundaries but this one just went overboard for me, and it left with more questions than before. As the story reached its end, I’m thinking, “what’s next” and “how did that worked” and many, many more.

Bottom end, I’d rather have the prior short with the revision and the one additional scene where both men take things to Arn’s place, without the final visit from Arn’s Mother. However, if you haven’t read this before and if you don’t mind magic and romance overwhelming credibility, this is a nice and fun short read.

Blurb: Sometimes when you’re at your lowest, when you’re at your saddest, and just when you think that things can’t get any worse, along comes a hero to save the day and to win your heart away.

Skye has always lived life like it’s one big party. He makes his own rules, and consequences be damned. But one night when he takes things too far, his older brother steps in and demands he cleans up his act.

In comes Alden, known as one of the toughest trainers at the feline coalition, he takes on the job of turning Skye’s life around. The last thing the Tiger shifter expects is to find himself drawn to Skye, despite his bratty ways.

Will Alden be able to help save Skye from himself? Or will Skye self-destruct and shatter both of their lives?

Review: This story is part of a series and is best read in order. Skye doesn’t really give a damn about his life and tries to drink away the memories of a traumatic childhood event, but now after many lectures his brother is doing something about Skye’s behavior and signs him up with a mentor who will train him. Alden is the one the Coalition turns to when they have a difficult case, Alden is determined to get Skye up to snuff, and the last thing he would have expected to be attracted to the lion shifter.

This is a brilliant addition to The Lost Shifters series, with a messed up shifter finding something worth fighting for. Skye is Branson’s (Gage’s Awakening) brother and has been messed up with the memories of the Raven attack that killed his parents, in a last ditched attempt to get Skye clean and doing something for the Coalition Branson signs Skye up for mentor training. Skye wants to prove to everyone that he can change and throws himself into the training, but he can’t help longing after his trainer Alden. Alden finds himself impressed with the cute shifter and seriously attracted, but he won’t cross the line with Skye while he is mentoring him, but they face opposition when the mentoring is finished.

Skye and Alden are a super couple and we get to watch their courtship in the training arena. We see Skye straighten himself out wanting to prove to people that he isn’t just a f**k up and he can be an asset to the Coalition. Both Skye and Alden are great characters and they face the fall out together. They are hot and sparks fly between them and they try to do the right thing but others interfere. The storyline continues with the increasing attacks of the Raven’s, but I can’t help wonder if they have found all the lost shifters now because I haven’t seen any new rescues of them for a while.

I recommend this to those who love shifters finding love in difficult conditions, a determination to improve one’s life, hot sex and a great ending of finding peace in a family.

Blurb: Full moon fever.

Is there ever a good time to tell the man with whom you just had mind blowing sex that you’re a werewolf and, chances are, come the next full moon, he’ll be sporting fur and fangs, too?

Police Officer Logan Robinson isn’t sure. Logan’s been in lust with his partner and best friend Dylan Reed for as long as he can remember. But Logan is a werewolf and after accidentally giving his partner the mating bite during sex Dylan will become one, too. Dylan is royally pissed when he finds out because Logan conveniently forgot to mention his little affliction until after they’d spent the night humping each other’s brains out. As if turning into a creature of the night wasn’t enough, Logan and he are investigating murders that look suspiciously like dog attacks, but they’re not.

Finding a killer is tricky enough. Now it will be almost impossible with their personal issues clouding the investigation. And if Dylan does turn into a four-legged freak at the next full moon, the fur will fly.

Review: Logan is a werewolf who has been in lust with his work partner Dylan for years, now he has finally lost control of his wolf and had mind-blowing sex with Dylan, but gave him a mating bite. Now Logan has to find a way to tell Dylan that their night together will have some unusual results and can only pray that Dylan will still want him once he learns the truth. Dylan doesn’t know what is going on with Logan, the man has been acting weird ever since they has sex, but Dylan and Logan have more things to worry about when they are assigned a murder and it isn’t long before Dylan discovers just what Logan’s problem is. Dylan doesn’t know if he will ever be able to forgive Logan the lack of trust, but they have to work together to find the murderer.

This is a great paranormal story that has humor and sexy police detectives. Logan seems to be the typical alpha when it comes to Dylan but he is completely stumped when it comes to confessing the truth to Dylan about his true nature, but his time is running out with the full moon fast approaching. Dylan is a true comic book geek and when he discovers the truth about Logan he is torn between fascination and horror, but his main problem is the lack of trust that Logan showed in him. Their relationship is explosive as they try to work through their problems and find a murderer.

Logan and Dylan are fascinating characters, Logan with his confidence that seems to disappear with Dylan and Dylan for his total geekiness when it comes to comics… one of my favorite lines in the book came just after Dylan discovered the truth about Logan ‘Dylan leaned forward and lowered his voice. “I know. You’re some sort of mutant…like…like…Wolverine?” ‘*snort* it was so great and just so typical of a comic book geek. The writing in this story is good, you never lose the thread or get bored even for a second, the characters are brilliant, and while Logan does get all Alpha on Dylan, Dylan is quick to smack him down. The relationship side is very rocky but oh so explosive and in such a good way *sigh* hot horny men getting it on is always good but these two have that extra ingredient that makes it scorching.

I recommend this to everyone who loves shifters, difficult relationships, humor, hot explosive sex, a great storyline, and a great ending.

Review: Josh and Connor have moved to the small town of Black Creek to start afresh after a hate crime in the city nearly cost one of them their lives, Josh takes over his deceased grandfathers veterinary clinic and Connor is starting over in the sheriff’s office. Connor becomes interested in a series of unsolved crimes going back over fifty years that are attributed to the Black Creek Creeper and decides to try to solve some of them. But there is a deeper secret being hidden in Black Creek and Connor stumbles across it when he is viciously attacked in the woods.

This is a pretty interesting paranormal story that is shrouded in mystery. Connor and Josh are great characters, both of them deeply in love and starting anew in the town where Josh’s grandfather lived. Connor is having a slightly harder time settling in the quite town after the noisy hustle of the city and he is suspicious of everything, Josh has settled in nicely loving the challenge of working with bigger animals. But when something happens to Connor and he changes Josh is willing to sell up if it means keeping the man he loves, but Connor has discovered something he doesn’t quite believe himself and has no words to tell Josh what has happened.

Ah, this story is like a breath of fresh air, so different from the typical shifter stories that you come across. A dangerous lone wolf seems determined to decimate the wolves of Black Creek and Connor and Josh get dragged into the danger by accident, which causes a strain in their relationship as Josh tries to accept what has happened. Connor is the poor soul who stumbles on the town secret and his situation is beautifully described, Josh’s reaction is one of the best I have ever seen and I was so thankful that he didn’t just throw himself into Connor’s arms but held back to process what he had learned.

We have a pretty well written story that has interesting details revealed, the storyline doesn’t drag but is just right for an evening read, and we have some really hot sex as we see the great relationship between Josh and Connor. The shifter secret is really well covered and if you didn’t know this was a shifter story going in, and then the reactions of the towns people and sheriff’s department would have you thinking they were all hiding a deep dark murderous killer. The other characters are really well written and you can’t help but look at them through Connor’s eyes and view their suspicious behavior with trepidation.

I recommend this to those that love shifters, standing by your man, hot sex and the discovery of a secret that you’d rather not have known.

Blurb: Lord Kenneth Victeni has every opportunity and every privilege. As the noble son of a powerful mage, he puts little thought into the lives of the talentless, the second class citizens who cannot use magic in a world ruled by mages.

That changes when he meets Thorn, a talentless who is studying at the inventor’s college, where those without magic develop steam-powered technology. The two men share a mutual attraction, and what’s more, Thorn just might be Kenneth’s lifemate—the man who, with just his presence, can double Kenneth’s magical power.

Kenneth’s ignorance of the lives of the talentless puts an obstacle in their budding relationship, however, and his life grows even worse when another mage at the collegium attacks and nearly kills him. Now Thorn and Kenneth must put aside their argument and find a way to put a stop to a mage who poses a threat to others—and along the way, Kenneth might even learn the sensitivity he needs to win over Thorn.

Review: Kenneth is a mage of noble birth. He has had every opportunity and is studying at the mage’s collegium. Looking for a piece of steel needed for a project, he has to enter the talentless area and meets Thorn, a young inventor, who begins to change his views about the talentless. Thorn is an inventor in his last year of college. when one of his inventions gets away from him and scares a noble mages horse he jumps at the opportunity to discover more about magic. As the two young men become friends, they discover a connection between them. But, Kenneth’s ignorance of the talentless causes problems. They also make a chilling discovery that just might cost them their lives, if they don’t work together.

This is a great beginning to the Enforcer’s series, of a magi and a talentless who meet by chance and change each other’s lives. Kenneth has been sheltered throughout his life. he was protected from the full impact of the war between magi and talentless and the only talentless he has ever met are servants. Kenneth has lived with his father telling him how dangerous the talentless and their inventions are, but when he meets Thorn, he discovers that the talentless are interesting and not always treated fairly. Thorn knows the suffering of the talentless, but he is still intrigued by the young magi. He is attracted to Kenneth, but their differences come between them. until Kenneth is attacked and left for dead.

Noble Magic is a well-written story that mixes Steampunk for the talentless with magic for the magi. Not only is it a slight romance with danger thrown in, but it also tells of two different classes of people who find a common ground against the odds. Both Kenneth and Thorn are great characters. Kenneth with his slightly proud snobby attitude and Thorn with his down-to-earth welcoming attitude, put them together and you have a couple who will never be boring. I liked how this world was portrayed with the two sides separated by magic, those that have it hold all the power and those that don’t are treated like second-class citizens. The magi using magic, but not really understanding it and the talentless creating machinery hoping to mimic the advantages that the magi have.

Thorn and Kenneth begin something new in this story, a magi and a talentless working together is completely unheard of. Their relationship is shaky, but develops quickly and they are there for each other in times of need. The storyline is good and is just the beginning as they are invited to test for the Enforcer’s, their relationship is just beginning as well so it will be interesting to see how they both cope with their new situation.

I recommend this to those who love Steampunk, magic, danger, developing love, an interesting storyline and a happy for now ending.

Review:  Short, Sexy, and Steamy… my three favorite colors! Micah is new to the Smooth Rock Falls pack, having been forced out of his former pack because he refused to kill the human he’d slept with. When he learns that, his new Alpha is not only gay, but also mated to a man as well. He’s certain he’s made the right choice for his new pack.

Shea is drawn to Micah pretty much immediately, and the feeling is mutual. A loner at heart, he fights the pull to Micah. His emotions, his head, and his wolf are at war amongst themselves. His heart wants to love, but fears getting hurt. He’s never felt this way and it scares him. But, his wolf is ready to claim his mate. Micah tries hard to get Shea to agree to be his mate. But, Shea continues to back pedal, eventually pushing Micah towards another wolf that is all too willing to snag the big, sexy wolf. Shea finally admits he’s fallen in love with the other shifter when Micah lands in the hospital after an accident. But is it too late to claim him?

Full of passion, intensity and some steamy guy on guy action, Refuge will leave you wanting more from this elusive pack of shifters. I can’t wait to see what Tyler has up her sleeve next for this pack. If you are a fan of strong alpha males, sexy shifters, hot and sweaty man sexiness and a HEA, this is a must read for you.

Ian’s attraction to Roark is almost instantaneous, but as the second son of the chieftain, romance has no place in his life, for his father plans to wed him to another to seal an alliance. But he’s not the only one with secrets. When he discovers Roark’s, will their secrets bring them together or drive them apart?

Review: I just love a nicely spun erotic tale with dragons. But, when in that tale we have the added bonus of men in kilts, well what more can one ask?

I loved this novella. It was fascinating and extremely gripping. As the title of the series (because yes! this is a series) says, this the tale of a Highland Dragon, Roark and how he met his soul mate in the face of Ian. The plot was fun. Ian was sent to kill a dragon only to fall for one himself. The eroticism between them was fantastic, the writing skills more than good, and we had the opportunity to feel the heat between the pair and experience it as if we were there ourselves.

The plot also caught me unaware, because while I knew it’d have a nice ending, for a moment or two I was afraid it’d be a cliffhanger instead, when Ian practically abandons Roark in order to return to his clan and his duties as a Chieftain’s son. It served to heighten the anticipation and intensity levels a bit and it managed to do so rather handsomely. I loved Ian as a character there, he was appealing before, but at that moment, he became more and showed some depth of personality. while Roark showed a lovely side that makes dragon lovers love them all the more.

If I had some issues with the usage of the words “bisexual” and “lube” in a context that is supposed to be of a time long ago, making such words perhaps unavailable back then, I overcame them quickly. The writing was good enough for me not to mind such slips at all and the pace set was amazing. I was so lost in the story that I literally inhaled it in a matter of a couple of hours, and I was left satisfied and wanting for more, already anticipating the next one of the series to come.

So if you, like me, love a tale of erotic romance between dragons and humans, men that make your heart beat faster and also well written then recommend this book to you certain you’ll enjoy it as much as I did. It was great.

Blurb: More than just magic.

Thorn and Kenneth begin their lives after college, and Thorn has his work cut out for him when he goes to meet Kenneth’s parents. The Victeni are nobility and have no problem putting Thorn in his place—or worse, simply ignoring him.

But Thorn quickly learns that winning over Kenneth’s parents is the least of his worries. Kenneth has been selected to become an Enforcer, and with Thorn as his lifemate, Thorn has as well. To become Enforcers, they have to pass a test, and their examiners are not always straightforward about what they need to pass. Thorn is uncertain about his chances, and even less certain about whether or not he wants to be an Enforcer at all. He loves Kenneth and wants to stay with him, but as the test goes on he becomes worried if being an Enforcer will really let him help his people, or if he will just be seen as a traitor.

Purchase Link: http://www.extasybooks.com/the-exam/

Review: This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Thorn and Kenneth are facing a new future together, but first they have to get through the Enforcer’s exam. Thorn also has to meet Kenneth’s parents, which is a daunting task. Kenneth and Thorn are thrown into their examination tests and have to prove their lifemate bond. With Kenneth’s parents disapproving of Thorn and Kenneth having to make a stand it isn’t easy for Thorn. Especially, when doubts assail him. Can Thorn get through the tests, and does he really want to become an Enforcer and be seen a traitor to his people?

The Exam continues one week after Noble Magic ended and continues with the story of Thorn and Kenneth. Even though Kenneth is filled with confidence about his relationship with Thorn, Thorn is filled with trepidation, especially when he meets Kenneth’s parents and faces other magi. Thorn has serious doubts about himself in the story, as he is confronted with the reality of his new situation. Kenneth does his best to convince Thorn of his love, but it isn’t Kenneth’s love that he doubts, it’s his own ability he questions.

I enjoyed this story with its exciting exam and Thorn’s soul searching, Kenneth’s show of support and the love they have developed. The storyline is focused on two points, the exam for the Enforcers and Thorn’s dilemma of what choice to make. Thorn faces scorn from Kenneth’s parents and his position is driven home by the talentless servants and his treatment by the Enforcer examination board. Kenneth does his best, but the doubts still pull Thorn down. Would he be a traitor if he works with the magi or could he really do some good for his people? These are the thoughts that plague him along with the question of what good would he be against a magic user other than a battery for Kenneth.

I loved how this story didn’t gloss over Thorn’s position or wave a magic wand making him equal to the magi instantly. How Thorn and Kenneth faced the other magi as a united front and didn’t choose the easy answers. Both refusing to be cowed by those older and more experienced than them and how they still managed to capture moments of bliss together. They truly make a wonderful couple. I am looking forward to the next installment when they are sent on their first assignment.

I recommend this to those who love Steampunk, magic, doubts and love, hot sex, confronting doubts and standing up for what is right, explosions, discovering strengths and a happy ending with more to come.

Review:  Oh. My. God! I loved this novel. This novel stars Drew, who has had a very hard couple of months. Why? He was brave enough to come out to his family and friends as a gay guy. That bravery was short-lived because his parents are completely ignoring the fact that he’s gay and his schoolmates are not very gay friendly. They bullied him to the point that he decides to end his life. And that’s where the story takes off.

I loved Drew. He was so sweet and loving. He was simply trying to find his way in life and be happy. As he is about to end his life, a mysterious boy appears before him and shows him what his life would be like in the future. Yeah, pretty awesome. I don’t want to give the story away, but what I can tell you is that this novel was very surprising and thrilling. It left me wanting more. I really hope there is a part two because Drew’s life seemed so interesting and fun.

Review: I absolutely loved this novel! Kale’s Spirit stars Kale, a high school senior who has been bullied in school for four long years by the popular kids. Their reason? They suspect him to be gay. A very shitty reason if you ask me. One day, Kale runs into the popular kids in the middle of the woods and pretty soon, he finds himself fighting for his life, but two persons save him that day, Hunt and Volk.

I love Kale. He was smart, awkward and sweet. He was a closet gay guy who did not have the courage to tell his family and friends about his sexual orientation. I loved Hunt. He was strong, caring and sexy. I also loved Volk. He was caring, sweet, sensitive and loving. I had a hard time deciding who to pick for Kale, but at the end, everyone wins. Yes. Everyone. What is so great about this novel is that you can pick the ending. You get to choose with who Kale stays with, Hunt or Volk.

To put it briefly, this was a short and amazing little read with a surprising little twist. If you like wolves, mystery and love, this novel maybe the one for you.

Discovering Joseph has been captured, he goes into Glitnir to rescue him and to help Joseph recover from the horrific torture he suffers. Joseph and Phin have to put the past behind them if they have a hope of winning against Glitnir. Phin has to come clean about Asher and they both have to admit their love. But, how can they ever be together when two magic users being intimate is strictly warned against?

Although this story has the explosive reuniting of two magic users, it also brings forward the rapid movement of the resistance and some of the secrets that Glitnir hides. Joseph and Phin have a history, but because of dire warnings about magic they can never be together. When Joseph chose Ethan it hurt Phin deeply and he lashed out in the only way he knew… by declaring his love for a blood demon, but now is the time for Phin to come clean and for both of them to lay the past to rest. Discovering the secrets of Councillor Ludvik, of the Fae Alliance, they know they have to act fast. But, first the journal needs to be opened and plans need to be made.

This is a great story that gives us a wealth of details and some surprises. We discover the real story behind Joseph’s and Phin’s animosity and we get a passionate explosive coming together from them. You can’t help but feel sorry for the pair of them when secrets and rules kept them apart and they had to go against what they really wanted. The main storyline that threads through the whole series is beginning to heat up as the journal is opened and a surprising twist is revealed. They discover part of the rot in Giltnir and it is discovered to go far deeper than they thought.

The relationship between Joseph and Phin is threaded throughout this book, as they try to work through everything. But, at times it is in the background as the resistance is being put together. I liked how the story was set out with equal attention being given to both the relationship of the two MC’s and the main series storyline. I also liked the variety of characters this book has, introducing new characters while keeping the old ones from previous books in play. I am eagerly awaiting the next book to see what else R.J. Scott has in store for us. Because in this book she has added a new depth to the characters by the trials they go through.

I recommend this to those who love fantasy, Elves, Vampires, magic, danger and twists, trying to do the right thing, accepting love and a happy ending for Phin and Joseph but with a storyline that is just heating up.

Review: This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Declan is a werewolf, a Retriever for Glitnir, and he is sent to hunt his friend, Connor, when Connor fails to return from his own hunt of a vampire. Levi is an incubus and Assassin for the Fae Alliance and is sent along to make sure the job gets done. Levi has his own reasons for going though. Reasons that he once confessed to Declan, before Declan turned his back on him. Declan resents being sent with an incubus that he thinks is a traitor. But, when confronting Connor and then Levi’s own actions has Declan questioning his own belief, Declan lets love into his heart. But will it be enough for him to turn his back on all that he believes?

Oh, I love the way this series is going. We are beginning to see that the rot goes farther than just the vampires, and that Glitnir and the Fae Alliance might be much dirtier. Declan wants nothing more than to get his friend back and to put the vampire who must be holding him prisoner to death.  But, he is stuck with Levi during the hunt and he knows he has to convince Connor to return with him or Levi will kill him. Levi is desperate to get to the truth of what happened to his parents and the only way he will get the answers is to get Declan to accept that not everything about Giltnir is right. Convincing Declan that he isn’t a traitor and that he does love him is much harder than he hoped.

This is really good. I loved how Declan was so confused and didn’t automatically give up everything he believed in. I liked that Levi had tried in the past to open up to Declan and didn’t give up even though Declan thought he was a traitor. I really liked that they listened to Connor and Micah without too much conflict, but it was wonderful to see the conflicting personalities clash and the warring of beliefs. Declan and Levi’s relationship isn’t easy and that is because of how they both see Giltnir. Levi has been told disturbing news which has him looking for answers, but also doubting Giltner and the Alliances. While Declan has a firm belief that Giltnir can do no wrong. it drove them apart when they first got together, but now they have an opportunity to try again, if Declan can open his mind to possible doubts about Giltnir.

I have to recommend this story to those that love paranormal political conflicts, strong-willed characters, a great storyline and a happy for now ending.

Review:  No Tea No Shade is the fourth book The Haven Coffee House Boys Series by Stephani Hecht. The story revolves around Devlin and Christian and their group of friends. If you have not ready the previous novels, you might feel a little lost in this one.

Christian is suffering from depression and has been hiding it from his boyfriend Devlin. Devlin could be such an asshole sometimes and I don’t see why Christian would even consider him as boyfriend material. But, Christian does bring out the best in Devlin and I like that. One thing I didn’t like was the fact that this novel was too short and consisted of only one plot. Christian’s depression. That’s it. There is nothing more. I would have loved if the plot was extended into something more interesting.

I must admit, Mrs. Stephani Hecht dealt with a very important issue here. Depression is something serious that has been affecting a large percentage of our youths. I think that the message was clear. Get help and let other help you.

When it is all said and done, the novel was okay. If another plot was added to this very serious issue, it would have made the story ten times better and interesting.

Review:  An amazing race around the world.

This book was all go-go-go and I went-went-went with it—and with a smile, too. In this book, teams race against each other for clues that lead them to the million-dollar finish line. The big question pushing me through the novella: who will win?

This was a satisfying action-adventure read with a nice twist of conflict. Craig is teamed up with a guy he hated from his high-school days. They must work together not only to complete each challenge, but to overcome their past issues as well. In the first half of the book, the tension between Luke and Craig is strong and held my interest, however, I did feel it wane in the middle when Craig was very quick to forgive Luke. I would have loved to see that step taking a bit more time and emotion.

Still, the romance was enjoyable and, coupled with the race—and the other awesome team characters—this made for an enjoyable evening read.

Review: Oh. I loved this book, and what a nice start it was for a series.

RJ Scott created a beautiful background for this adventure through species. Werewolves, Vampires, Fae (although the latter didn’t made an appearance in this first book), a world trapped in old traditions and royal clans along with pure-blooded arrogance. It all painted scenery that promises action and war impending, strong love fated to struggle through fights that are not easy won, and love lost leaving back pain and hurt.

The Vampire Contract focuses on Micah and Connor. Micah is a Vampire accused for the murder of his own husband by the Glintir Court, the one responsible for applying justice and law on all the paranormal species. When Micah runs away Glintir Court Retriever Connor Strand, a Werewolf, is tasked to bring him back. Connor is one of the best, however he is in for a surprise when it appears that this little Vampire is not that easy a job and to top it all his wolf gets in the way when he recognizes Micah as his mate.

Connor faces the difficulty of struggling with his emotions, with the truth that is slowly unveiled and with a whole new amount of knowledge that threatens everything he ever believed in to be true and just. The most important thing of all though is that his love for Micah is undeniable and he’s going to face that his one true mate is faced with death.

A lovely, lovely story that had many treats that truly fascinate me. Werewolves being nearly feral, instincts that were demanding but placed in a logic frame, Vampires that were charming and seductive and enticing and sexy as Hell, magic thrown in there for good measure. A chase that went wrong, a love lost never to be found, a new love rising in the middle of ashes. The relationship between Micah and Connor was almost funny, it started in the middle of them trying to kill each other and right when you think one of them is going to end up dead, heat goes up and all things go South with base instincts taking over. It was also tinged with a dramatic layer when realization hit the pair that one or both of them are facing death straight in the eye.

In the end, after a very entertaining read, this book leaves you with the distinct feeling that not only it didn’t end, but this whole adventure just begun, and honestly I can’t wait for the next installment to come out. Anticipation is a very annoying thing when you have no patience at all. So in any case I strongly recommend this for all the lovers of the paranormal genre and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.

Review:  Left in the Darkness is the second installment of Haven Coffee House Boys series by Stephani Hecht. The first novel, if you have not read it, focuses on Christian, Taylor, Devlin, Andy and James as they try their best to overcome the bullying that Taylor endures at home and school. At the end of the first novel, we see that Christian and Taylor suffered a brutal attack by Tommy, Taylor’s twin brother, and a group of jocks. Taylor got the worst of the attack and ends up pretty bad.

Left in the Darkness deals with the aftermath of the attack as the Haven Coffee House Boys try their best to piece their lives back together. Taylor moves in with Christian, Christian deals with his mixed emotions, James with his homophobic father, Devlin with his insecurities over his relationship with Christian, and Andy with the lack of attention. Each storyline develops as the book progresses and the cliffhanger at the end leaves you wanting more. That’s the only negative thing about the book, the dreaded cliffhanger.

Stephani Hecht did an impeccable job when piecing this story together since it is full of friendship, drama, love, and suspense. I cannot wait for the third book in this amazing series where we will find out what happened to Andy and what will happen to the Haven Coffee House Boys as their lives shift and turn for the better or worse.

Review:   Joel has started working for the ‘Clean Living’ movement and his new boss Mr. Jeffers is meticulous about cleanliness.  He insists on celibacy and frequent hands on inspections to make sure that Joel is keeping himself scrupulously clean.  Since Joel is a fairly clean sort of guy, this doesn’t really worry him too much until he starts getting excited about Mr. Jeffer’s inspections.    Turns out, Mr. Jeffer’s celibacy requirement only goes for intercourse with the opposite sex.  That means Joel is fair game for his bosses sexy advances.

This is a very short book…only 16 pages…so there isn’t a lot of time to really get to know the characters too well.  It is pretty obvious that Joel is not all that bright or experienced when it comes to sex.  Mr. Jeffers is definitely a clean-cut and very determined man who has his sights set on his young and very attractive employee.

The writing isn’t really my style….the author gets the point across in a very blunt way, leaving very little to the imagination.  I think the story could have been told just as well with a little bit more finesse.  There is a certain amount of buildup and exploration but the majority of the story is some fairly graphic sex.  If that is what you are looking for in a story, than this would be a good choice.

Review:  Christian is the new kid in school.  But, as a military brat, he’s used to that.  Luckily, even before school starts, he makes friends, other LGBT teens just trying to make it through senior year.

I hated this book.  Hate that in this day and age, teenagers are still having to deal with bigots and bullies at school.  My mama-heart spent much of this book pissed as hell.  Pissed because the issues and concerns of the characters were a bit too real for me.  Real in that they reminded me of my teenagers’ friends who are struggling with their sexuality, sometimes with little or no support at home.

No, Light Outside the Closet is not a maudlin survey of adolescent psychology.  Life Outside the Closet introduces, what I’m calling, the many faces of gay adolescence.  Taylor is effeminate and “out”.  Christian is out, but looks straight enough to pass.  James is so deep in the closet, he’s practically in Narnia.  One character is bi-racial and you might not know it, but RuPaul is the only acceptable gay man in the minds of many African-Americans.

This basically is Christian’s story.  Well, maybe not.  It is very much an ensemble cast.  Stephani did a good job introducing their world.  But, back to Christian, he has a crush on James, but James’ cousin, Devlin has a crush on Christian.  All very Pretty Liars.  But, when James makes a decision that affects other lives, well…let’s just say feelings change.  More than anyone, I think James learns about himself. And, honestly, I worried that he might not make it to the end of the book alive.

This is labeled YA romance, but don’t let that stop you from reading it.  The emotions are so well-written that anyone who enjoys romance will enjoy this story.

So, yeah, I hated Light Outside the Closet.  And I hope Stephani is cuddle up somewhere with her computer, writing book two.  I can’t wait to hate that one, too. 😉  Highly recommend.

When the townsfolk of Passmore get wind of the fact their Vicar’s new verger, Wilson Rooney, is gay, a series of events spark the start of both his and the vicar’s adventures when it comes to keeping the rather interesting flock of Passmore within the fold. Not only that, they’ll have to gain the approval of the parish council before Wilson can be accepted. No small task when it’s headed by one of the most conservative parish council leaders ever to have walked the face of God’s green earth.

Can the vicar get Wilson accepted into the community? Or will his efforts result in a disaster that will divide the town they have been trying to keep together since the decline in population has hit them hard. Time will tell, but not before love blooms in the most unexpected way and the vicar uses some rather unorthodox methods to get his parishioners to see the light about Wilson and his lifestyle choice.

Review:  This book opens before Wilson even gets to town.  The mayor of Passmore is having fits at the very idea of hiring an openly gay man.  The poor vicar is caught in the middle of a debate that has the potential to rip the quiet little village apart.

Okay…confession time.  Once upon a time, when I first started reading M/M fiction, I read a free sci-fi piece off of Mark Adler’s website.  The main character had a detachable penis…I don’t think I ever finished reading that one.  Since then, Mark and I are friends across social media and I love his humor and slant on life.  But, sadly, I have never been tempted to purchase one of his books…until now.

I am a huge fan of the BBC sitcom, The Vicar of Dibley, which ran from 1994 – 2007.  From page one; I felt like I’d been dropped into the tight-knit world that is an English village.  And I giggled through till the end.  This is not your traditional romance. Wilson finds true love, sure.  But, the cast of characters that we meet and fall in love with are amazing.  Mrs. Clump, who misses her dearly departed submissive husband, Mr. Noel, her next door neighbor, who feels he has come to an age where clothing is optional…even to do yard work, and my personal favorite, Farmer Scott, a simple farmer who is very “fond” of his animals. As with all good parody, there is a subtle tread of social commentary, but if you aren’t looking for it…you’ll probably miss it.

I feel confident saying, if all clergy were like the Vicar of Passmore, Karl Edmondson, the world’s houses of worship would be filled to overflowing.  He takes his job as shepherd of his flock serious, but loves and respects each one individually.  I hope this is not a one-off.  I would love to revisit this village again.

Review:  Stephani Hecht has done it again.  She has created a series that is absolutely Chocolicious.  In this first book, she does quite a bit of world building.  The peace that allowed the warrior protectors, known as Night Wardens, to go into semi-retirement is broken.    Rick, a Warden, has been allowed to go off to college; an activity he thinks is a complete waste of time.

When evil shows up on campus, Rick’s calm little world disintegrates in a heartbeat.  He is thrust into a role he was literally born to fulfill.  Luckily, he has a sexy Guardian to watch his back.

I loved every aspect of this story.  Stephani Hecht took her time building up sexual tension between Rick and Jess.  But, damn…when she finally let them tangle in the sheets…damn!

One of the nice things I like most about Hecht series is how she introduces main characters from later books as secondary plays in the current book.  I’m dying to know if Ari and Adam are going to be a couple of if she has other plans for them.  And what kind of man could tame Brad?

All in all, Night Terror is a fabulous read.  It is gritty and nasty, funny and sexy and absolutely perfect.
