Blurb: In the year 2081 our planet survived global warming of an apocalyptic scale. When the dust settled and the water receded Dr. Anthony Smith, one of only a few hundred survivors of GWI, started society anew. Having come to the conclusion that injudicious breeding played a huge role in the destruction of Earth as we knew it in the twenty-first century; he worked closely with other survivors to isolate the Dionysus gene. This gene has the ability to manipulate human DNA to ensure that all male children are born gay, and all female children are born lesbians. A new society is born.

In the year 2300 Dr. Smith’s descendants are ushering in the twenty-fourth century having maintained control of the government that still rules society. Twins Aiya and Aiyan are preparing to meet their matches and take control of House Gaeland, the current ruling House. But not everything is as it seems.

Love is Love… it knows no gender and doesn’t conform to restrictions and boundaries. Aiyan has found his soul mate in Kaden, the prince of House Devi that he is matched with and eventually marries. But when the person Aiya falls in love with tests the boundaries put in place after GWI, all hell breaks loose. And in the midst of one secret unraveling, another will emerge. There is a growing anomaly that threatens to destroy over two hundred years of progression. This anomaly is known as Opposites.

Review: Aiyan and his twin sister, Aiya, are both nervous to be meeting their matches; strangers picked out for them by their parents to be their spouses. But, Aiyan has nothing to worry about from the second he sets eyes on Kaden. Aiya has a harder time when she meets Maeve, her intended, because her eyes keep straying to Sawyer, Kaden’s adopted brother. Living in a world where being gay or lesbian is the norm and being straight leads to you being Outkast, Aiya is caught between doing what is expected and what she longs for.

This is quite an interesting story of a future society who goes back to basics and also makes homosexuality the norm. Aiyan, Kaden, Aiya and Maeve are the main couples in this story and while Aiyan and Kaden have a perfect match, Aiya and Maeve have to work at theirs. It doesn’t help that neither woman is attracted to the other or that Aiya’s eye keeps straying to a man. But, that is the least of their worries when a jealous servant causes trouble and a group of Outkasts seek revenge on the ruling Houses.

There are many people who play a part in this story and whose relationships we follow; Aiyan, Aiya, Kaden, Maeve, Raven, Tanis, Sawyer and Autumn along with their parents. It does get confusing at times, as to who is doing what and who is speaking because the perspective changes very quickly with no warning. But, you get used to the writing style and manage to keep up. There are some beautiful details that explain the history and culture and we get a lot of background details as to how the world now works. The actual storyline is interesting and keeps you reading as you want to know how it is going to be resolved, but then bam something new happens and takes it in a new exciting direction. There is some explosive sex with an array of couples, ranging from erotic M/M to sensual F/F to tender M/F; there is definitely something for everyone in this book.

I will recommend this to those who love a futuristic Earth, same-sex societies, hot sex, great characters, a good storyline, danger, kidnapping, rescues and plenty of hot loving.

Blurb: On a future Earth, sex suppressants and tranquilizers are fed to youth at the onset of puberty, keeping them in perpetual servitude by the Revered Senior Classes. They’re housed in sublevel cubicles beneath the city, with little ventilation, extreme heat, and complete lack of outdoor light. Homosexuality and bisexuality are encouraged to prevent a surplus of lower class citizens who might pose threats to Senior rule.

All menial Workers are trained to submit to sexual advances from any Senior with humility and enthusiasm. Medical advances have extended the Seniors’ lives, making their rule virtually unending. Subordinate in every way, through training from early childhood, the lower Class has no recourse.

Then Dorian rebels. While in jail, he recruits others with the same attitudes, who strive to leave Earth. But can they overcome the obstacles in their way to freedom?

Review: Mother is about to be voluntarily entombed, now that she has reached the age of parting. She reads from the Book of Dorian of how our world came about and the courage and bravery of one man who refused to be satisfied with his class status.

This is an interesting futuristic story. Telling the story of how a new world and their customs came about. Dorian is increasingly unhappy with the way the world works. All young are born into servitude, every single one of them trained to serve the Eldest in any way until, if they are lucky, they reach the age of Elders themselves. But, Elders very rarely die. Organs are harvested to keep them going and the Seniors and Elders believe it is their right. Dorian rebels briefly and is sent to prison to learn the errors of his ways. In prison, he meets likeminded people and a kernel of an idea takes root.

I quite enjoyed this story. It starts out on Doriana and the ritual of Parting. We then flashback to Dorian’s time and it tells the story of how Dorian began his rebellion. The descriptions and the world we find ourselves in are vastly different from the world we know now, and the phrase ‘respect your elders’ hits very close to the bone. Dorian teams up with Bryn and Lassa and finds joy briefly in Bryn’s arms, sneaking about and risking prison if caught. I was fascinated with what Earth had become and how the Elders enforced their rule, it was also interesting to see how the enforced rules on Earth affected how Doriana’s rules and customs were set up. This isn’t the usual expected m/m. sexuality is fluid and we don’t get the happily ever after that you first expect. what we get is an homage to the person who set a class free and his memory lives in the people on that world, never to be forgotten and the sacrifices remembered.

I will recommend this to those who love futuristic, science fiction, rebellion against unfair rule, some hot sex, a new beginning, a touch of sadness and an interesting storyline.

Review: This book is part of a series and must be read in order. Todd and Nick make a mad dash for freedom when Vice-Chancellor Raleigh’s troops finally capture them. With Todd imprisoned and Nick planning his escape, they receiving a helping hand from Chancellor Clarke and are once again in his debt. Reluctantly carrying out a mission that takes them back to Eldrid, they discover a chilling list of slaves and owners that Raleigh is trying to get his hands on. With conspiracies going back far into the past and a trigger that could set lover against lover, Todd and Nick must put a stop to Raleigh’s plans before the tide of war changes. But, it will test their bond and love to the limits.

This is an excellent addition to the Sentries series, giving us additional information about the origins of the Sentries, what happened to the world and how the way of life came about. Todd and Nick are as devoted to each other as they have been throughout the series. They may be owner and slave, but they are also mates with Todd encouraging Nick to be his own person. In this story we see how far Nick has come and how he has developed from that shy quiet slave we first met in Marked Yours. We also see the deep love that Todd and Nick have for each other. The development of the characters over the series is brilliant. The changes are slow, but a natural development of their growth together.

The storyline is well written and plotted out perfectly. As with each book before it, it has its own story, but with hints and slivers of plot for the next book to come. Nick and Todd uncover a devious plot by Raleigh, when they are investigating in Eldrid for Clarke. The plot is sinister and must be stopped before Raleigh can put it into motion. But, it puts both Nick and Todd in danger. This story sees Nick and Todd delving into history, dodging soldiers, escaping traps, helping injured, gaining allies and never finding the full truth. For those who have just joined the series it is imperative that these books are read in order. Otherwise you will never understand the bond between Nick and Todd and you need the other books for the background and a more in-depth understanding of the world they live in.

I will recommend this story to those that love a post-apocalyptic world, paranormal aspects, a strong lovers bond, complex storyline that weaves through the entire series and a happy for now ending.

Blurb: After his cousin is murdered, journalist Jessie Canning reunites with his estranged lover to investigate it.

Jessie was on the phone when his cousin, Ben, was attacked. Fifteen minutes later, when Jessie arrived at Ben’s condo, his cousin was dead. With life and death as close as a minute away, Jessie must work with his estranged lover, Mathew, to learn why anyone would’ve wanted to kill Ben.

Review: Jessie receives a phone call from his cousin Ben, but as Ben is asking him to come around as soon as possible the line goes dead after a series of thumps. Now with his cousin dead and his estranged husband/lover by his side they have to discover the truth and just what Senergine is trying to hide.

This is quite a unique nanotechnology, zombie suspense story that is quite gruesome, violent and bloody… whoop! Jessie has been dwelling on the separation between himself and his husband. Hoping that Mathew will phone him and they can make things right between them. When he receives a call from his cousin Ben, and Ben seems to be in trouble he drops everything to go help him. But, when he arrives his cousin is dead, the police are there and men in haz-mat suits… could it have anything to do with the company Ben works for? With the help of his estranged husband, he begins to delve into what has happened and discovers what Senergine is trying desperately to hide.

The two main characters in this are Jessie and Mathew, who are married, but have been estranged for a couple of weeks. Their relationship seems a bit stilted and although they do have a wonderful reconciliation scene and incredible make up sex, you still feel like you are missing something in the relationship. The nanotechnology mutating and going wrong was brilliant and scary; something that could be a medical breakthrough turning into something out of a horror story and the developers trying to hide it was really well done.

Combining both story lines into one was well done, as was the emotional turmoil that Jessie goes through throughout the book. We don’t really get a real feel from the other characters like Mathew, Gabriel and Nathen, as the story is all from Jessie’s POV, but we get to know them enough to make us care what happens. This story is violent and bloody and near the end it gets a bit horrific, as you realize the lengths that some scientists will go to, to cover things up and also to discover answers.

I will recommend this to those who love futuristic, nanotechnology, zombie/infected thrillers, with blood, gore and danger and a reconciliation of two stubborn men in love.

Review: Well, the blurb pretty much gives everything about the plot away except for the resolution, which you can probably guess before even reading the first sentence. At least I did. I would have enjoyed this one more had I not read the blurb beforehand. There simply weren’t any surprises in the story.

Kudos to the author for making me cry, though. My heart went out to poor Dillon. I can overlook a lot of problems if I’m drawn into the story emotionally, and I was. I also enjoyed the world building. Especially the futuristic sex toys.

A good editor would have probably scrapped a few lines here and there. For example, the explanation about why they weren’t using condoms (thanks to modern medicine) was silly, and not something either of the men would have been thinking about in the heat of the moment. There were also at least three places where the wrong name was used (David instead of Dillon, or vice versa). I had been so proud of myself for keeping the two D’s straight, and then the name errors pulled me out of the story. These were minor disturbances, though. Overall, the writing was good and it was a quick, enjoyable read.

Blurb: The year is 2190, and the first starship of Earth, the Gilgamesh, is plying between the homeworlds and the new world of Eidolon, a five-year flight at near-lightspeed. The “starshippers” have been idolized for many decades, since the first landing on Eidolon. They’re “augmented” humans … they’ve been modified for the work and for the new world. The public has envied them and emulated them — and perhaps they have been emulated too much, too often.

Eventually, perhaps inevitably, a political movement has begun back on Earth. Calling itself The Pure Light, its campaign is to “Keep Humanity Human” … to stem the tide of the genetic modification that was steadily remaking humans into more and more different forms.

Twenty years ago, The Pure Light rode into office on this ticket, and their policies have made the augmented humans illegal. They’re now categorized as Borgs, or cyborgs — artificial life forms that do not have full human rights. The more augmented the individual, the less rights he or she has, and by the time one is a “fifty” — one whose body is fifty percent modified — one is registered, licensed, and control-chipped, in the possession of the government, and assigned to the military, industry or the lab.

It’s been more than twenty years since the Gilgamesh cruised into Earth space. At home on Eidolon, the crew is free — many of them were bred and born there, designed for the new world and thriving there. Now, they’re entering space where they’re perceived as unwelcome aliens…

And it’s the job of Civil Representative Adrian Balfour to journey out to Titan Central, meet Captain Dirk Vanderhoven and his Executive Officer, Jason Erickson, and inform them that the crew of the Gilgamesh is to be taken into custody — registered, licensed, control-chipped, and reassigned for the battlefield, the mines, the lab.

But Adrian is nursing a secret agenda of his own and everything in his cosmos changes the moment he sets eyes on young Jason Erickson. Almost before he knows what he’s doing, he’s lying to the Titan Central commander and life is set to become a race against time.

Because Adrian is a “twenty,” and unwelcome even at home, while among the fifties of the starshipper crew he’s respected, cherished — and desired by at least one of them. Romance explodes between Adrian and Jason, white-hot and filled with the piquancy of exploration, as Adrian discovers how the humans of Eidolon are different in every way from the Earthborns, most of all in their sensuality.

For Adrian, the next days are critical. He’ll be “tested” by the big, beautiful fifty with whom he’s fallen deeply in love, and he’ll risk everything in the desperate attempt to get the Gilgamesh out of Earth space before warships can run her down, and The Pure Light will turn starshippers into control-chipped drones.

Review: Jason and Dirk are nearly at the end of their journey, but the ships AI is acting oddly, as they dig they find out that Earth has changed for the worst. The Pure Light have taken over and want only pure humans… and all the crew of the Gilgamesh aren’t… they’ve been modified for work on the starship and for the new world Eidolon. Adrian only has his legs augmented because of a crash when he was young, but he is looked down upon for it and now he is the government flunky who has been sent to tell the crew of their fate. They will all be chipped and forced to become like slaves to the government and unless the crew come up with a plan and fast, then it is a fate worse than death. Adrian, Jason and the crew have to pull off the escape of the century, because to be more than human is against the law.

Oh, boys and girls do I have a treat for you ;-). For those of you who love science fiction and M/M then this is a fantastic combination that will give you a major fix of genuine sci-fi, with a wonderful dose of M/M romance. It also has a huge dose of realism in the way that The Pure Light and humans have turned on the ‘borgs’ (augmented humans), the way that humanity has to find someone different and persecute them, it is brought up in the story a couple of times as examples… witch hunts, segregation of races, women’s liberty’s, sexually repression, sexual orientation etc. Using the ‘borgs’ for their own purposes (after chipping them to behave of course) and imprisoning any who stand against them in a camp (shortest term 20years). So this is what our starshippers have walked into and it is a challenge for all of them to come up with a plan that doesn’t include being chipped.

Okay, let me start simple. Adrian and Jason do have a very fast relationship, but because of the overall timeframe it didn’t feel that quick… kinda like a life and death situation forces you to act quicker and trust your emotions more. Adrian and Jason complemented each other well and they were striking sparks off each other since they first met… and the sex woo hoo, was that hot or scorching, definitely scorching. The technical details were awe-inspiring and were vivid in both imagination and detail; they came to life as you read, incredible. The entire story is magnificent and I am hoping that there will be more to come from these characters in the future.

This is an excellent novel that is rich in technical detail (fan-bloody-tastic) with a thread of romance (Jason and Adrian *sigh*) with an exciting escape plan and a happy for now ending, there is no way that you should miss the opportunity to read this rich science fiction story, so I highly recommend this if you ever watched Star Trek etc.

Blurb: Todd and Nick Ruger are alive and on the run in the Yellowknife Protectorate, but maybe not for long. After narrowly escaping New Colorado, where they were implicated in the assassination of Chancellor Shaffer, they’re running out of steam: Todd is gravely ill and Nick’s injured. Just when it seems like the harsh winter will get the best of them, they find refuge with a doctor in the isolated town of Elk’s Ridge.

On the surface, Elk’s Ridge seems the ideal place to rebuild their lives. Nick begins training as the doctor’s apprentice, and Todd works in a lumberyard until they’re recovered enough to return to their duties as Sentries. They make friends, forge a new life, and most importantly, there’s no sign of anyone from New Colorado.

They should have known it was too good to be true. Victor Raleigh, the new Vice Chancellor of New Colorado, knows all about Nick’s psychic abilities, and he wants them in his corner. When Nick is betrayed and captured, Todd sees no alternative but to head back to the war zone to rescue him. But will Nick be the same man Todd loves after Raleigh’s pet psychic vampire is through with him?

Review: Todd and Nick are looking for somewhere to live, where they don’t have to worry about someone recognizing Nick. Just as they find a new town, Todd becomes ill and Nick struggles to get him help. As they settle in, Nick has made an enemy and he soon finds himself in the hands of Raleigh. It’s a tough time with only his dreams of Todd, but the psychic vampire is a hard one to battle. Can Nick hold on until Todd comes for him or will Raleigh’s hold prove too tight?

Todd and Nick are back. They are on the run after the circumstances from Together Bound, so yeah, you have to read books one and two (bwahahahaha). But, Todd is falling ill (although he says allergies) and they are trying to find somewhere to live. Nick and Todd finally settle in a town, but trouble follows them and a spiteful person makes Nick’s life hell. When Nick is taken, Todd follows as quickly as he can, but it could be too late to undo the damage.

Whoot. Whoot. Now, boys and girls, I have told you that you need to read both previous books and that is so you can fully appreciate the world we find ourselves in. it is set in the future, after a disaster that leaves mankind reverting back to the old ways, but psychic powers emerge, monsters come out and ghosts linger and slavery comes back. If you have read the previous books then you know all about Todd and Nick’s relationship and what they do. if you haven’t, *scowl*, then Todd and Nick are master and slave, a bonded pair, mates and love each other to death and they work, or worked for the New Colorado Protectorate as Sentries protecting the surrounding area. Okay, happy now? *looks around and nods* Good.  So Nick and Todd have a solid relationship, which is pushed to its boundaries and stretch it to its limits in this book.

This is a really well written novel, which holds your interest from the start, as we see the struggle to find a new home; with Nick’s nightmares and fears, with being wanted men, with someone sniffing around Todd, with kidnappings, escape, rescue, betrayal, more escapes, nasty baddies, feelings of guilt and the total love that Nick and Todd have for each other. I am fully expecting there to be a number four story, because this ending just left me with the expectation that there will be more adventures for Todd and Nick.

So, if you love post-apocalyptic, futuristic, adventure, danger, hot loving, psychic powers, guilt, angst, and an expectation of more to come then this is definitely the book and series for you.

Blurb: When the world ends, can a tough cowboy find true love?

The world suffers a plague that wipes out most of the population. For Benjamin, the last cowboy, it is a lonely existence. He spends his days on a farm and dreaming of someone to spend the rest of this miserable life with. That is until Cody arrives…

Cody has secrets, but the more time he spends with the lonely cowboy makes those lies harder to conceal. For this ‘in the closet’ virgin, life got a little more complicated, especially when that secret comes to the farm to kill them all.

Purchase Link: http://www.evernightpublishing.com/the-last-cowboy-by-james-cox/

Review: Benjamin has been alone for three years, ever since a virus wiped out a lot of the world’s population. Other than the odd straggler he’s had no company and his wrist is mighty sore. But, one day while lying nude next to a pond, someone spies on him and Benjamin has found a new companion. Cody is running and in Benjamin he finds a protector. Although, that isn’t all he wants Benjamin for and when his past catches up to him, will Benjamin even want to keep him safe, when he finds out he lied?

This is a great erotic short story, that is quite heavy on the sex or more on the want of sex, as poor Benjamin has been alone for three long and lonely years. Cody comes across Benjamin by chance, but Benjamin is wary, at first, as strangers are hard to trust. Benjamin might have a hankering for the city boy, but he still has to be careful that it isn’t some type of trap. And when the truth comes out, Benjamin has a choice to make. Cody and Benjamin are quite well suited and they make for a good story.

Okay, so there is a lot of sexual tension at the beginning of the book and it is laced throughout the book as well, but it settles down a bit after a while. The storyline is really interesting; humankind starting over after a virus wipes out most of it and going back to basic’s where money is worthless and goods are traded. Benjamin, at first, seems to have sex on the brain, but when he meets Cody he is actually interested in something longer term than just getting off. Cody is just looking for someplace to hide out, but Benjamin is more than he bargained for, and Cody ends up wanting more than just a hiding place. When these two are together sparks do fly, but Benjamin is really quite gentle with Cody as they ease into a relationship.

So, I will recommend this to those who like futuristic, post-apocalyptic, cowboys and city slickers, hot sex, a new beginning and a happy ever after. P.S. keep an eye out for the epilogue where we meet the characters for the next three books.

Blurb: Jude’s been attacked, what has kept him alive is his strange power to set things on fire. Nicolai sees a gargoyle circling a burning building, goes to investigate to find his mate amidst the rubble. Is this love’s first fire?

Jude Jamison is a Jesuit Inquisitor, part of the pope’s force of special investigators. He suspects his cover has been blown as he’s been under constant attack. Without the gargoyles his friend Evan sent along as his guardians, and a strange ability to start fires, he’d already be dead.

Nicolai sees a gargoyle circling a smoldering building. He investigates the rare creature and is totally unprepared for the discovery of his human mate, lying amid the rubble. After waiting two millennia to find his mate, fate must be laughing. A human will never survive in his world. Yet he’s unable to leave the beautiful man behind.

Together can the two find a way to survive? Is this love’s first fire?

Review: Jude is in desperate need of help, as more and more demons are sent after him.  But, there is only so much he can accept, because of the fear of hurting someone by accident. Nico is surprised to learn that his mate is human. What on Earth could fate have been thinking?  But, as he gets to know his mate, he learns that Jude’s life is in grave danger and that there is far more to Jude than he first realised.

This is the second book in the Elements of Love series and must be read in order, as events in Adel’s Purr lead to discoveries in this book. Jude, Jesuit Inquisitor, is running for his life. He suspects a certain faction within the church is responsible, but getting the proof has been difficult. But, that isn’t his only problem, he feels like something is trying to consume him from the inside and it has something to do with his ability to suddenly create fire. Nico is seeking to protect a little gargoyle when he comes across his mate nearly unconscious and severely injured. Now, he has to help his mate delve into the underbelly of the church and help his mate control his fire.

This is a fantastic addition to the Elements of Love series and it continues with Jude’s story. As we saw at the end of the last book, Jude can now manifest fire, but the how and why is discovered in this story. Jude is drawn to his rescuer, but is terrified of hurting him. Nico tries to reassure Jude that he won’t, but he also worries that he will injury Jude. So it is an interesting beginning for our two lovely MCs, as they both come to realize that they are perfect for each other. We find out more about the Elementals and the history behind them, along with a slew of new characters, who add a broader horizon for future books.

So with the relationship between Jude and Nico, they might be a well matched pair, but that doesn’t mean that it is going to be easy for them. Both these characters are great, with Nico trying to show Jude that he will always be there for him, and Jude putting his trust in Nico although he is scared of losing him. With everything going on we mustn’t forget that they have the church to contend with and, gah, they are really nasty.

Well, what can I say? If you love paranormal, danger, rescues, gargoyles, hidden agendas, conspiracy, hot sex (lol), really hot men, and a happy ever after and an open end for the next book, then this is for you.

Jazz and Doc are on a rescue mission. This time it’s personal, really personal. Robin, Doc’s sister, was taken to the nearby city and enslaved. Jazz lived in the city for years and although he dreads the return, he can’t refuse to guide Doc in. What they find there is worse than any memory.

City peeps who barely survive and a Warlord gone berserk are just the beginning. Can Jazz find Robin? Will the two men survive themselves? And what of Zoe, the lady love they left behind?

Reader Advisory: This book contains some violence and lots of swearing and sexual assault.

Reader Advisory: This book is number two in a series and should be ideally read second, but may be read as a standalone. Contains scenes of hot m/m, m/m/m and m/m/f intimacy.

Review:  In a futuristic world where human kind has suffered a great war that sent humanity in a state of complete wildness, forgetting feelings such as compassion, respect for human life and civility, survival in the city has become the most dangerous situation one can find himself into. Yet there is exactly where Jazz and his lover, Doc must travel and find a way to rescue Doc’s sister, Robin from a frightening warlord that has enslaved her. Through the misery of this unfeeling world they manage to find love in strange triangles. However, confronted with mistrust and deceit, they get entrapped into the very warlords’ kingdom.  Yet, against all odds, they manage not only to find Robin, but to drive themselves along with many other slaves into freedom.

I would recommend it if you’re up for a nice story where one would do anything and risk anything for the ones he loved, where love and determination conquers it all, although it lacked suspense and sensuality and certainly dint blow my mind away.

Blurb: Michael and Paul fight to survive in a land frozen by endless winter. Will the ice between them thaw once and for all?

Michael Wright has given up thinking he’s anything more than a number-cruncher. When he’s summoned to verify the outcome of renowned meteorologist, Paul Clarkson’s latest research Michael is happy to escape the drudgery of a grey cubicle at the Met Office.

At Station 17 he finds himself working side by side with a brilliant scientist and charismatic man who stirs a lot more than respect. The attraction is mutual but, after a few snatched hours of passion, internal politics and a vengeful adversary tear them apart.

When Michael returns to Station 17 two years later he discovers that the world isn’t the only thing that’s changed. Paul is forbiddingly distant and the fire that once burned between them has turned to ice. The violence of deadly storm reignites their relationship – but will the disastrous aftermath of another destroy their love once and for all?

Review: Michael is asked to verify a meteorologist’s findings and as they work together become close, but work separates them.  When they meet again, two years later, Paul is cold and hard towards Michael. But, the thaw sets in and they begin again, then disaster strikes. Can Michael tame the storm that is Paul or is the ice to thick?

This is a really well written futuristic science-fiction story that shows a future that is bleak and cold. The climate is harsh, the rain is acid, and there are no plant life and little animal life.  There are Domes for protection and this is the world in the future. Michael is a weather statistician who is called to verify Paul’s work.  The results mean a bleaker future, but Michael and Paul come together with a kernel of hope.  which is dashed when Michael is called back to Met Office. Two years later Michael is back at Station 17, but Paul is like ice towards him.

This is one of those books that pulls you in two directions; the story-line was brilliant.  Earth of the future with harsh weather that just keeps getting worse and little hope for improvement and two men chancing upon love in those harsh conditions.  But, Paul is a bit of a prick and a control freak and I really found it hard to believe that Michael just took Paul back so easily the second time especially after the way he treated Michael and the way he abused his work position to punish Michael.

While Paul is a complete prick, in some circumstances, when he is thinking with his head and heart instead of his pride, he is a sweet considerate man and he is a great match for Michael.  Michael knows that Paul is the man for him, so he holds on to his hope. The sex is passionate and explosive between them and circumstances keep getting in their way every time they try to be together.

The detail and description are quite exquisite, Michael’s reaction to having fresh vegetables for the first time was fantastic.  The image, that we are given about our world, really was bleak; acid rain, snow so thick it covers buildings, just amazing imagery. The only thing that I was left with was a hope for an explanation of how the world had ended up like that… was it just global warming? was it the natural climate?… or was there a man-made disaster that triggered it?

With this one I will recommend it to those who love futuristic Earth plight, hot passionate men, intense sex, conflict, danger and a happy ending.

Blurb: Zach is impatient and likes to hurry. Adam likes to take it slow and to tease. But, they’d have worked it all out — if only the end of the world hadn’t gotten in the way.

Zach Benesh is sure his prediction is right – the island colony of Zahara is about to sink into the ocean. Adam Gray isn’t as certain, but he’s happy to follow the intense, brilliant geophysicist into the mountains to escape the flooding. Though he’d be even happier without three hundred other people – and their pets – tagging along. He’d like to have Zach all to himself out there.

But Zach’s prediction is right and as disaster begins to unfold towards an unstoppable, inevitable conclusion, the two young scientists must become a team in the fight to save their people. They draw strength from their rapidly developing relationship, but the higher Zach and Adam climb, the more difficult the tests they face – as lovers and as men.

Purchase Link: http://www.loose-id.com/Higher-Ground.aspx

Review: Zach is a geophysicist who has been running tests on a small earthquake in his spare time.   When the results come in he prays they are wrong, but knows they are right and the colony is in grave danger. Adam is a botanist and has just started dating Zach.   He doesn’t know what to believe, but Zach is so sure in his conviction that Adam will follow him and support him while their relationship is pushed along fast and is tested to its youthful limits.

This is a well written story that has good characters, an interesting story-line and a great conclusion. Zach is a genius who is never wrong, but this is one time that he wishes he was.   When he can’t get any of his colleagues to read his findings he goes directly to the people on the Island.  He has some small success, but because of what they face he knows that some of his colleagues and the council are playing with fire. Adam might not be sure of what Zach has discovered, but the lengths that Zach goes to convinces him that Zach really believes the Island will sink and so he makes the decision to support his lover.

I think this story is brilliant… it’s a disaster story on a terraformed planet, a small island sat on a super-volcano, the closest rescue a small outpost 18hrs away, the colony elders disbelieving and 300 people climbing to higher ground. I must admit there wasn’t as much world building as I wanted, but the descriptions that we did get were brilliant.  The characters are interesting and likeable. Zach is just so passionate in his belief that disaster is days away but even as he climbs the mountain and is thrust into a role of leadership he wants to be wrong and you can understand the emotions he is feeling. Adam you can understand why he supports Zach, even if he doesn’t quite believe and the fear that they both go through when the next earthquake strikes is palpable.

The relationship between Adam and Zach had only just begun days before and on their journey it is forced to progress faster than either really wanted and although they declare their love a spanner is thrown in the works by Zach’s jealousy over a new arrival Glyn. This is a great story it’s more than just a romance, it’s about survival and blind trust, it’s about grabbing on to life in a disaster and doing the right thing even in the face of adversity.

I will recommend this to those who love science fiction, disaster movies, life and death situations, a fast paced relationship, hot sex, jealousy and a great story.

Blurb: In a world destroyed by nuclear mismanagement, a deformed young man named Trill finds an intact Netpad. Once he secures a working battery, he discovers a story penned by Sam Devine, a hacker who led a rebellion against the insane corporation BCM thirty years before.

Sam works for BCM out of necessity rather than choice. He despises the company for its lack of ethics and knows the best way to destroy it is from within. When a staff meeting opens with the torture of BCM’s captive enemies, Sam sees his chance: he lies to convince his bosses he wants to further degrade one of the warriors, a man named Pokatawer, and once Pokatawer is released to him, Sam finds they share common goals and lusts.

But Sam and Pokatawer are up against a hugely powerful corporation, and they’ll have to bring BCM to its knees to escape nuclear wrath and make a life for themselves somewhere outside the company’s grasp.

Review: This is one of those stories that send shivers up your spine as you realize that something like this could truly happen.  That a corporation could be running the Government and wipe out those who don’t agree.

Trill is one of those in the future who are living with the effects of a corporate takeover of a Government.  When he finds a Netpad; he hopes to read the words of a hero… one of the people who left for the south for a new beginning. Sam Devine had hoped to bring BCM down but was betrayed.  Now he is more like their dog; doing what they want so he can live.  When they bring in prisoners trying to get their secrets, he devises a plan to rescue one of them. Pokatawer was captured on his way home.  BCM want the drug that his people have developed, but he has other plans once he is given the chance by Devine.

A really great story that wasn’t lacking in detail or action.   It wove a very realistic view of a future that is on the brink of destruction; as a corporate America fights amongst itself vying for more land and using any means necessary to obtain it. Brilliant. The characters were well written and the story is very well told. The relationship that develops between Devine and Pokatawer is interesting and I really loved Devine’s character as he added a bit of humor to a decidedly unpleasant world. The chemistry between them was sparking and although we don’t get much detail they are still very hot and primal together.

So honestly,  this is for those who love Science Fiction, Futuristic and Post-Apocalyptic stories.  Divine Devine’s Love Song will blow your mind with detail, evil corporate types and a great love story with an ending that makes you long for a sequel.

Blurb: On Alkya, a planet a long way from Earth, the Division of Investigation – Other Worlds, has set up a base where hundreds of personnel live and work. Among them are two men, Major Joshua Marsden and Lieutenant Matthew Ronson, who are part of one of the survey teams.

Dropping through the atmosphere to land on Theta for their latest survey, the ship is disabled by a strange energy force and crashes in an immense ice field. Matt awakens in the debris of the control room to find Josh and Dennis injured and the ship badly damaged. He does what he can for his colleagues and attempts to repair the tear to the ship’s skin. They struggle to keep warm in the freezing temperatures and when it transpires their communication unit isn’t working, it becomes a fight for their very survival.

This story is the sequel to Other Worlds 02 – Lightning Strike

Purchase Link: http://amberquill.com/AmberAllure/ColdFear.html

Review: Josh, Matt and Dennis are on a mission to find out more about the geology scans and the minerals the scans discovered. Unfortunately, as they drop through the atmosphere they are hit by something that their scans missed; now it is a fight for survival and time is running out.

This is quite a well written science fiction novella that has a few edge-of-the-seat moments.  Josh is trying his best to keep up appearances despite his injuries for the sake of Matt.  Josh knows that the situation is dire and he is the only one who can fix the communication unit to get a message to Alkya Base to send a rescue team.  Matt has done his best to treat Josh and Dennis and fix the breach in the ship but his skills are limited and he feels helpless as he hands parts to Josh and checks on Dennis as the temperature drops to a dangerous level.

This story flicks between the prospective of Josh and Matt so we get the feelings of both men as they struggle to survive. We feel their fear and hopelessness as they realize that rescue might not reach them in time and we feel their love as they both remember better moments.

I will recommend this to those who love hot sex, pure love, a struggle for survival and a really good story.

Reviewer:   Portia

Review:  Okay, let me start by saying that Jambrea Jo Jones is now among a handful of romance writers that do MMF the way I like it.  There’s no leg of this triad that is stronger than the other.  The love and the loving are divided evenly among all the lovers.  That being said, Rock, Sela and Zander are the perfect Triad.  Watching them fall is love was a true pleasure.

The first thing I liked about this book is that even though I jumped into the middle of series, I didn’t feel like I was missing key elements of the storyline.  The world building and back-story were easy to follow.  For those of you who did it right, Rave and Kain from the first book, Retribution, are in there and sexy as ever.

Favorite character?  That would be a hard choice.  Sela spends a lot of time trying not to fall in love with not one man, but two.  Rock is such a he-man, but you always know that his heart is in the right place.  Then there’s Zander, sweet geeky Zander who falls in love with two warriors and is constantly questioning his ability to pull his weight in their unconventional relationship.

I loved this book on every level.  Whether in pairs or all together, the sex with these guys is off the chart hot.  And not just erotic, get ya hot hot, but sensuous loving that allows each to be vulnerable with and strong for the others.  I can honest say I’m looking forward to the next MM book, Freedom, scheduled to release 12/05/2011, like a kid at Christmas.

If you love a story with smoking hot loving, uber bad guys and a happy ever after, Salvation should definitely be on your to-read list.  Trust me.  You will not be disappointed.  Excellent writing that you can always expect from Jambrea Jo Jones, fabulous plot twist and characters you can’t help but love.  Highly recommend!!!

Blurb: A noble goal, and a stupid risk, but will it pay off?

The world of the future is starkly divided. Those with the money to afford it can become Alphas, people with superhuman IQ. The rest? Mundanes, unable to get a job beyond being a mechanic or working in food service, if they can get work at all.

But Nick, a mundane, disagrees with the system, and so does his dangerous friend Riki. Their dream is to build their own machine to raise IQ and give people the equal opportunity they deserve. The penalty for this, however, is death, and it must be done in secret.

Unfortunately, Nick is new to crime, and he meets a handsome man in a bar after a hard day at work. When he finds out Julian is an Alpha, he’s nervous, but continues with the flirtation, resulting in a hot couple of nights. When he finds out that Julian is an investigator, he realizes he has put his dream at risk.

A noble goal, and a stupid risk, but will it pay off?

Purchase Link: http://www.extasybooks.com/alpha-4/

Review: Nick is putting everything on the line to make his dream come true and when he meets Julian he thinks maybe he can have the best of both worlds, until that is…Riki finds out.

This is a really good story-line and plot that makes you wish it was longer. I thought the connection that Nick and Julian had was great and Julian seemed to be a really nice guy. Nick wants everyone to be on a more even setting rather than just the rich having the best of the world.  Nick’s fear of being discovered was really well done and I thought Julian’s story was really sad and gave us a point of view of an Alpha.

The characters are well portrayed and I quite liked Riki as he’s got quite a dangerous edge to him. I wish there was more interaction between Julian and Nick as they did make a great couple and I really hope that there will be a sequel as this was a really good story and it has so much potential to be so much more as this has only whetted my appetite to find out more about the Alpha’s and the Mundanes.

So who do I recommend this to?  Well those who love hot sex, hot men, futuristic and a story-line that makes you want more.

Review:  Helios is under constant pressure from his council; he has secrets that he has to hide and his memory is still patchy.  The only one that he knows he can trust is Griffin, his lover and consort. Griffin tries his best to help Helios out but now he feels Helios pulling away from him, keeping secrets.   Now he is beginning to doubt Helios’s feelings for him.

This is a fantastic second book where we can see the relationship being tested as they both face the realities on their new home-world. Griffin wants to protect Helios and help him and love him, but when he finds out that Helios has been keeping secrets from him he begins to doubt Helios’s love and trust.  Griffin is keeping a secret of his own; one that devastates him every time he thinks of it.  How can he tell Helios when he himself cannot even bear to think of it? Helios loves Griffin but in his role as King he can’t tell him everything.  He’s also being pressured to marry and produce more children and the council is trying to refuse his wish to marry Griffin.

This is a story filled with doubts, suspicions, danger, intrigue, love, sadness, happiness, passion and secrets, lots and lots of secrets. This is a really well written story that will make you want more.  The plot is great, the characters fantastic, the danger and intrigue brilliant and the struggles that these two men face realistic to the storyline. I don’t know if Belinda McBride has any more stories planned for this series but I sure hope she does as there are a couple of characters that I want to find out more about… So pretty please with icing and a cherry on top. J

I will recommend this to those who love hot passionate love, danger, fantasy, intrigue, futuristic, space opera, loads of sexy gorgeous men and a really great fight.

Blurb: Hagar is the captain of the cargo ship Midgard Serpent. Most of his shipments are legal, but he has a reputation for being an honest smuggler—a reputation that lands him some troublesome cargo. Shibito, an exiled member of the Nipponese imperial family, meets Hagar on Dunmore Station. Keeping his true identity secret, Shibito tells Hagar he’ll do anything to get out of there. Never one to turn down an offer like that, Hagar accepts.

But Shibito doesn’t have just any destination in mind, and Hagar is furious when he discovers that his mysterious passenger has altered their course without telling him. With no way to change course a second time, Hagar has no choice but to trust—and face the temptation of Shibito’s request for some rough handling, a proposal Hagar isn’t sure he can resist.

Review: Shibito was drugged, kidnapped and dumped onto a backward planet at the arse end of the universe.   He escaped and now needs to get off the planet before the military find him.   He finds what he needs at Mama’s bar. Hagar is an honest smuggler, most of his business is legit and Mama is a good friend of his, so when Mama says someone needs a ride he considers it little knowing what he’s let himself in for.

Hagar is like a gentle giant but he can’t seem to control himself around Shibito.  Shibito is worried about how he wants Hagar to treat him as he never had these urges before he was drugged. I thought that the storyline was quite good and the plot was sound.  I especially liked that there was a power-hungry Emperor, Kogon.  I liked the idea that in the future the human race divides up the universe into sectors that were like countries i.e. American/European Settled Space, The Russian Collective, Scandinavian Cooperative and Asian Sector. This story also has a Yaoi flavor to it which works quite well.

The way the two men seem to be drawn together is good and it’s not instant love.  It’s hot, hard, passionate, intense sex and neither man seems able to get enough of the other.  The story is also left open so the two men can rescue other victims of the Emperor Kogon.  Maybe more stories with the progression of their relationship (I can and will beg and plead :-)).

I will recommend this to those who enjoy science fiction, futuristic, space romps, secrets hidden, scorching hot sex and a D/s flavor to the sex and some angry passionate dubious consent.

Blurb: Kyle Anderson grew up with the lie that he was one of the last humans born. Then Kyle’s quiet, lonely life as a research assistant and student is shattered when he discovers the government has been lying to the world for more than twenty years. Now on the run from authorities who would kill for his silence, Kyle is taken in by Daniel Shanks, a member of a militia group dedicated to discovering the truth.

Daniel has seen death and violence in this new, radically changed society, and the closer he gets to Kyle, the harder his fears ride him. They will need to stop listening to the lies told by the government and start facing the lies they’ve been telling themselves, because the only place strays like them may be safe in this uncertain world is in each other’s hearts.

Review: Kyle has escaped from the government who decided that he saw something that he shouldn’t have and has made plans for him to disappear…forever. Daniel is a member of the militia and takes Kyle in to help him out. They both feel an attraction to the other but Daniel is wary of getting too close.   He knows just how quickly friends can die in the militia.   Kyle is still trying to overcome the horror of being kidnapped by his own government to embark on a relationship.

As these two work, together their feelings for each other become more pronounced.   Just as they have acted on those feelings a disaster strikes the militia and Daniel flees as he realizes that he is in danger of being hurt emotionally if anything happened to Kyle.

I thought this book had a very good story line with solid characters, the development of their relationship wasn’t rushed and they were interesting characters who meshed quite well. The story itself seemed a little choppy at first but smoothed out beautifully and the subject of it being a post plague setting where the government was lying to the world was great and made for interesting reading.

I enjoyed this book so what would I recommend… well if you like futuristic/post apocalypse, hot sex and a good story line…what are you waiting for…an engraved invitation?
