Blurb: A single drop of blood might hold the key to the fate of the magical world, and Aiden Teine must choose between his bond of love and embracing the power to defeat his enemies.

Aiden’s adjustment to being the first vampyre fae hasn’t been easy, but his ties to warlock Thad Blackmoor prevent him from becoming a monster. With Thad, Aiden has a new family, a new purpose, and a new reason to live—though he’s technically undead. There’s one problem: Aiden’s control over his vampyre is weakening. He must learn what’s triggering his violent reactions before he surrenders to the creature within. To complicate matters, Aiden discovers his transformation might not be complete, and he fears what he will become.

Aiden’s search for answers thrusts him into a frightening world filled with deception, new dangers, and apocalyptic visions. The part destiny intends Aiden to play could alter his relationship with Thad forever. If Aiden, Thad, and the entire magical community are to survive Icarian’s latest scheme, Aiden must interpret the meaning of the prophetic blood drop before it falls and ushers in the destruction of all creation—and the warlock he loves.

Review: Everything that has happened throughout the series comes to a culmination in this exciting addition to the Warlock Brothers of Havenbridge. Here we get Adrian’s POV. Not only that we also see him have to make some very hard decisions when push comes to shove as the danger escalates.

I loved Adrian’s character. Yes he is fighting his vampire side but also retains his fairy side which seems to balance him out with Thad’s help. Unfortunately that seems to be losing ground in this story. I really felt for Adrian. His transformation into what he must become to defeat the evil once and for all shocked me as I did not figure that out. I absolutely loved the twist regarding Adrian.

With the help of Allies, friends, family and his mate Adrian faces his fate head on with surprising results that I found quite pleasing. I have never enjoyed reading a series as much as I did this one. It was well written, the plots intriguing and the characters engaging. I was sad to see this series end but happy that I had the chance to read it.

I highly recommend this series to all.

Blurb: Love and trust made them soul mates, but destiny might have other plans.

Ever since Drake Carpenter fell in love with warlock Mason Blackmoor, his life has been one supernatural battle after another, but Drake doesn’t mind… much. To be with Mason and experience the magical connection they share, Drake would face entire hordes of vampyren, shifters, or fae—and he has. Luckily Drake is immune to magic, though no one can explain his natural ability to negate almost any enchantment. With Drake’s own family gone, Mason is all he has. So why is Drake experiencing disturbing dreams about Mason that terrify him?

A new threat looms on the horizon, and a revelation about Drake’s identity and the true origin of his bond with Mason shatters everything Drake believes. If Drake, Mason, and all of magic are to survive the coming Spell Fall, the most destructive curse in sorcery, Drake must deal with the truth and fight his way back to Mason—because their enemies are gaining strength, and they intend to reach the boy Drake loves first.

Review: Oh my was this story so good. Drake is Mason’s mate and has adjusted to the paranormal world well. Drake begins having dreams that are strange and horrifying. They begin to take their toll on the man as time goes on. He does not what to do or who to tell.

What is worse is the enemy that got away is back with a vengeance. This time said enemy has help and Drake is thrust into a nightmare unlike any other when he is forced to remember who he was. It seemed to me that the enemies in these books love to play mind games with others. I was glad Drake saw through it and fought with all his heart when Mason as in danger.

This series is best read in order as each book picks up where the other leaves off. I was happy to read Drake’s POV in this one and see how he reacted and thought in different circumstances.

Chocked full of twists and turns, suspense, mystery and action this book had me on the edge of my seat until the very end.

Fantastic addition to the series. Highly recommended.

Blurb: Like the electricity he commands, Pierce Blackmoor streaks through life on raw power and pure sexual energy. His conquests on the battlefield and in the bedroom form his foundation, but that bedrock crumbles when his younger brothers’ abilities surpass his own. Pierce finds himself at an all-time low, and clawing his way back to the top becomes his only concern.

Pierce’s plan to reassert his dominance, however, takes a backseat when he wounds Kale Aquilo, an emissary of the Beast King, lord of all shifters.

Kale’s beguiling nature shoots like a lightning bolt straight to Pierce’s soul, and when the soft-spoken Kale relays that a virus is killing his people, Pierce abandons his quest for power to do something he has never done before—protect someone other than himself.

As Kale, Pierce, and his brothers struggle to find the root of the magical virus spreading plague across Aeaea, the shifter island, they face a gauntlet of old and new foes. Soul struck, Pierce and Kale must uncover the truth behind the conspiracy gathering in the shadows.

Review: Pierce is the oldest of Blackmoor brothers and feels he is no longer on the top. With doubts about himself he seems a bit more abrasive than he was. He meets Kale when he attacks him thinking he is there under suspicious circumstances.

Kale is an emissary of the Beast King, lord of all shifters. He was sent to find the conclave and find help for his people who are dying from a mysterious virus. What follows is one hell of a story with bad guys galore of all species who follow a mysterious mans bidding.

I loved the whole story. I was enraptured from start to finish as I tagged along with Pierce and Kale as they try to find out what is going on and try to get answers from the conclave. I honestly did not like the conclave. It seemed as though they were constantly withholding information for their own gain.

Action scenes, battles, romance and a whole slew of interesting characters made for an awesome journey. I highly recommend this entire series to all.

Blurb: What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas.

Cody Hayes is having one epic morning after. The hangover following a Vegas bachelor party is nothing new to him, and neither is the naked man in his bed.

His apparent marriage is a different story.

Carefully plotting every detail of his life carried Julian Canales to a Senate seat as an openly gay man. A drunken night of Truth or Dare isn’t like him…and neither is marrying a man he just met. He’d get an annulment, but the media has gotten wind of his hasty nuptials. If Julian’s political career is going to survive, he has to stay married to a man who’s his opposite in every way.

Now he must convince Cody that all they need to do is survive a conservative political rival, a heartbroken ex, their painful pasts…and an attraction neither man can fight.

Review: I’ve not read or heard a lot of Jacob Z Flores, but what I have checked out of his work I have enjoyed immensely and Suddenly Yours is no exception. Of course this audio book is made a lot more awesome for me because of John Solo’s narration. Seriously, the dude knows how to nail every emotion of basically every type of character imaginable.

Suddenly Yours is the second in Flores’ series One Fine Day. The first book, Undercover Boyfriend, was a great story as well and an enjoyable audio but has no connection to the story in Suddenly Yours. Completely different characters, completely different setting, completely different feel.

Cody Hayes has saved up for his best friend’s wedding in Vegas. It was his one big splurge. He works his butt off as a waiter while he struggles to write his first novel. He has visions of writing a best seller. After a big night at his friend’s bachelor party, he wakes up to a big surprise – the cute and almost unapproachable guy his friends had dared him to pick up is now his husband!

Julian Canales has carefully and meticulously plotted out every detail of his life since entering college. Everything was done to get him to where he was today – as a senator. He may be out as a gay man but he never, ever planned to marry a guy, let alone have a drunken Vegas wedding.

Their first thought had been to get an annulment and get it over with ASAP. However, the media found out and Julian and Cody become headline news.

Julian’s spin team – and Julian – know that there is only one thing to do. Make the marriage look real, for at least a year or something so not to damage Julian’s reputation. For the guys, when they had been drunk it had all made sense at the time. They wanted the same things out of life when it came to love. Or at least they thought they did and what was meant to be an easy arrangement becomes a difficult journey, especially for Cody.

I loved, loved, loved every moment of this possibly farfetched, high drama but very sweet story!

Review: For me Undercover Boyfriend was a book of firsts: the first book I’ve heard/read by Jacob Z Flores, the first time I’ve heard audio narration by Rusty Topsfield. On both accounts this was a book of wonderful firsts. I loved the light-hearted and sometimes funny way in which Flores wrote this story, which really could have gone the way of serious spy mystery. My first impression from Rusty Topsfield is that he really knows how to use his voice to bring the characters to life – he works well with the Latino characters and gives everyone the appropriate depth of emotion.

Undercover Boyfriend is much like the rest of the Dreamspun Desires collection. The stories are simple and sweet, the plots are relatively predictable but not in a bad way and are what I call the MM version of Harlequin romance.

The story follows Marty Valdez. He’s a bit of a loner and since high school has learnt to deal with situations he finds difficult by inventing people (or, yes, outright telling lies). It’s nothing malicious, just something that he does to cope with the fact that he does not have a lot of self confidence. But that’s all about to come back to bite him in the ass. After breaking up with his boyfriend a year earlier, Marty invented Tim – his new boyfriend to show the world (mostly his ex) that he has moved on and doesn’t need his cheating ass. But Marty’s sister is getting married soon and his ex is actually his soon to be brother in law’s best friend. It’s a tad contrived, I will acknowledge that much. So now the imaginary Tim has to be real.

That’s where undercover FBI agent Luke Meyers comes into the fray and he is just as complicated as Marty. He’s found himself in a spot of trouble. His cover has been blown and now a Mexican drug cartel wants him dead. When Marty mistakes Luke for a thief, Marty blackmails Luke (albeit willingly) to pretend to be his fake boyfriend. It’s a comedy of errors and the most contrived situations that most Marty thinks up. But I said that this is a sweet romance and there is an instant attraction between Luke and Marty – even if Luke has to hold back his real identity for a while. The way in which the plot lines converge is also quite predictable but I think I would have been irritated if it had happened any other way.

I totally enjoyed this one. I loved the writing and the plot by Flores and I loved the narration by Topsfield. If you love the Dreamspun Desires series this is definitely something that you will enjoy. If romance with a hot undercover FBI agent is your thing, it’s a great light-hearted take on the genre.

Review: The first thing I am going to say is that Jacob has now become one of my top favorite authors of mystery and suspense. This book had everything in it that I could have asked for. There is nothing better than a sexy federal agent who carries a gun. Talk about being hot and so damn sweet at the same time. He is a fierce man who will protect those he cares about.

Ever since Marty was in school he made up a little sister and a boyfriend to help him get over what was bothering him at the time. Only his sister knew that he invented them. However his latest problem was his sister was getting married and his mother was pressuring him to get back together with an ex. He was supposed to show up with Tim at the wedding, but the thing was Tim didn’t exist.

That is until he caught Luke breaking into his car. Marty figures payback and blackmail would work in this case. He just hadn’t expected to find out Luke was a federal agent hiding out.

Luke’s cover was blown, so helping Marty sounded like a great idea. Too bad he was in for quite a bit of surprises. It would seem that his new friend had a knack for finding trouble. To top it off, the pretend job of being Marty’s boyfriend is looking to be more real than he had expected. He was falling for the man.

I love the twists and turns that this book had. I was caught off guard and I have to say that it was perfect. I loved that the story had just the right amount of danger, excitement, adventure and sexual heat to it. The guy on the cover of the book was a big hit with me, also. I don’t think I have ever enjoyed a story as much as I have with this book. I also loved the fact that it had a bit of humor in it.

Blurb: Thad Blackmoor’s heart is as cold as his icy magical abilities. He considers emotions a waste of his time and prefers to study the arcane, using the sacred books of his coven to grow in his craft. He aspires to supersede his father and elder brother Pierce in power, and now that his younger brother Mason has tapped into the rare warlock power of darkness, he needs to work harder than ever.

But Thad’s ambitions are halted when he saves Aiden Teine, a fire fairy, from a banshee. Thad’s immediate attraction to Aiden catches him off guard and thaws his cold heart for the first time. As Thad, Aiden, and his brothers investigate the connection between the banshee attack and the vampyre and shadow weaver who almost killed them, Thad tries to dodge Ben, a sexy warlock who won’t let him be after a one-night stand.

Their search leads them to the Otherworld, where something even more insidious is at work—something Thad will need more than logic to stand against.

Review: Thad Blackmoor is the eldest of the Blackmoor brothers, but he hasn’t felt important for a while. He always held his mother’s attention, but fought to gain his father’s, even more so as their family grew. When their mother died it affected Thad more than anyone in the family, aside from his father.

Thad buried his emotions long ago and concentrates on honing his skills so he can be not only the best Warlock, but the best Blackmoor as well. He steps outside of his comfort zone just a teensy bit when he meets a sexy Warlock at a local coffee shop. But it’s another chance encounter with a Fire Fae Prince that finally begins to melt the young Warlocks frozen heart.

It’s not exactly the best time to deal with matters of the heart though. Thad’s new found Fae friend is on the run from a couple of pissed of Banshees. And the shadow weaver that tried to annihilate the Blackmoor clan not so long ago seems to not only still be watching them, he has his sights set on one Blackmoor in particular, Thad.

The infamous council sends the Blackmoor brothers along with their new-found friends – sexy Warlock and Fire Fae Prince – and Drake, the youngest Blackmoor brother’s boyfriend, into Otherworld to defeat the shadow weaver. Secrets, lies and betrayal run deep as the six young men race to stop the weaver before he succeeds in finishing them off.

It’s always a treat when an Author can mix numerous magical creatures and their particular legends, keep everything straight and manage to keep me entertained throughout. The Warlock Brothers can add demons, Fae and one dark, overbearing jackass to the mix of weavers and Vampyre. And we still don’t know exactly what Drake is. He can’t be spelled, controlled or turned, but he doesn’t give off any vibes to any of the various beings that he might belong to their race.

As if fighting for your life while trying to protect the Gate and Otherworld weren’t enough to drive any one insane, Thad has to deal with his insane attraction to a certain red-headed Fae as well as the anger and jealousy pouring of the sexy – it was supposed to be a one night stand – Warlock. Staying focused is difficult, but one missed step could cost them all their lives.

I have to say, this series is very interesting, entertaining and intriguing. A lot of drama and angst mixed with passion and faith. I hope I’m not confusing you with my choice of words, but I don’t want to give certain aspects of the story away, you will have to grab a copy and read for yourself. Definitely worth the read, but read it in order, if you haven’t read Spellbound yet you should start there or you’ll be lost at certain times during this story.

Spell Bound

(The Warlock Brothers of Havenbridge 01)
by

Jacob Z. Flores

Mason Blackmoor just can’t compete with his brothers, much less his father. They represent the epitome of black magic, strong, dark, and wicked, and though Mason tries to live up to his respected lineage, most of the spells he casts go awry. To make matters worse, his active power has yet to kick in. While his brothers wield lightning and harness the cold, Mason sits on the sidelines, waiting for the moment when he can finally enter the magical game.

When a dead body is discovered on the football field of his high school, Mason meets Drake Carpenter, the new kid in town. Drake’s confident demeanor and quick wit rub Mason the wrong way. Drake is far too self-assured for someone without an ounce of magical blood in his body, and Mason aims to teach him a lesson—like turn him into a roach. And if he’s lucky, maybe this time Mason won’t be the one turned into an insect.

Not surprisingly, the dislike is mutual and Drake does nothing to dispel Mason’s suspicion that the sexy boy with a southern drawl is somehow connected to the murder.

If only Mason didn’t find himself inexplicably spellbound whenever they are together, they might actually find out what danger hides in the shadows.

Review: Mason Blackmoor may be a warlock, but he’s also a teenager who has to deal with school, frenemies, bitchy witches and trying to keep his sexuality under wraps. He’s not in the closet per say, he just hasn’t told anyone. Mason hasn’t been able to get a handle on his powers yet either, a fact that his two older brothers taunt him with on the daily. His father is powerful and a leader among their coven, both his brothers have mastered their talents, so Mason is frustrated that he hasn’t figured out what his ability is as of yet. But watching some of his spells backfire sure was hysterical.

Drake Carpenter is a good ole boy who moseys into Mason’s life and turns his world upside down. At first the two can’t stand the sight of each other, but then Mason saves Drake from a wayward piece of glass when, get this, he casts a spell and it works. The initial irritation these two felt quickly evolves into a mutual attraction. Mason is sort of dark and brooding, whereas Drake is a blonde haired, blue-eyed ray of sunshine. They complement each other.

Mason has more than one conversation with his family about what is expected of him. To take on this dark persona, much like their dark magic, but Mason has never been one to play by the rules. Not only did Mason start to gain some control over his ability when Drake came into the picture, but the more time they spend together the stronger his control becomes.

There is something much darker than the dark magic the Blackmoor’s possess though, something that has even the council running scared. Can Mason master his powers before Drake, his brothers, or worse, Mason himself becomes the next casualty of the evil that has moved into town?

I am always excited when a new book about magic comes out. Spell Bound is the first in a new series that promises to be dark, dangerous and downright sexy. What I enjoyed most about this story was Mason and how much he grew throughout. He’s very cocky and self-assured in the beginning, when in actuality he can’t even cast a spell without it rebounding.

It reminded me of Ron Weasley trying to curse Malfoy but he ended up spitting up eels! Mason is also supposed to act a certain way because of who his family is and what they expect of him, not mingle or be friends with other magical families. Well, like I said, Mason doesn’t play by the rules. By the end of the book he’s earned that cocky, self-assured attitude and learned that he does have friends that don’t care his name is Blackmoor, or that he’s gay.

There was a lot of action going on so the story moved along at a fast, steady pace. There was some drama, a bit of angst and a lot of romance. I absolutely loved it when Mason went from his brooding nature to this romantic walk on the beach, holding hands and kissing kind of guy. He and Drake were just too cute

. I can’t wait to see where this series takes them. Flores left a trail of bread crumbs for us to look forward to following in the next book, that is for sure. What is the semblance of the necklace? And I have to wonder if Adam is going to become a problem. I’m seriously anxious to learn who is controlling the Vampyre as well.

Great start to a new series, definitely a must read for anyone that likes paranormal, romance, witches, magic and just a fun romantic story with an edge.

Jacob Z. Flores - Being True Spotlight

Being True

by

Jacob Z. Flores

Truman L. Cobbler has not had an easy life. It’s bad enough people say he looks like Donkey from Shrek, but he’s also suffered the death of his policeman father and his mother’s remarriage to a professional swindler, who cost them everything. Now dirt poor, they live in the barrio of San Antonio, Texas. When Tru transfers to an inner-city high school halfway through his senior year, he meets Javi Castillo, a popular and hot high school jock. Javi takes an immediate liking to Tru, and the two become friends. The odd pairing, however, rocks the school and sets the cliquish social circles askew. No one knows how to act or what to think when Mr. Popular takes a stand for Mr. Donkey. Will the cliques rise up to maintain status quo and lead Tru and Javi to heartbreak and disaster or will being true to who they are rule the day?

Jacob Flores - Tharp-Flores--(1179)__06_12_13

Hello, all! My name is Jacob Z. Flores, and I’m glad to be here at MM Good Book Reviews. I really appreciate my hosts for extending an invitation and for agreeing to be a stop on my blog tour promoting my latest Dreamspinner release, When Love Comes to Town. This is the fourth and final book of the Provincetown Series, but don’t worry: the books don’t have to be read in order of publication. I wrote each one so readers could enjoy them in any order they wished to pick them up. I like to make things as easy on my readers as possible. Who doesn’t like that?

Today, though, I’d like to talk about the cover for When Love Comes to Town, which happens to be my favorite of the four covers.

Jacob Flores - WhenLoveComestoTown

The artist responsible for the cover, as well as all of the covers for the Provincetown Series, is Michael Breyette. If you haven’t seen Michael’s paintings before, then you must immediately get yourself over to his website by clicking this link. Go ahead; click it. I’ll be right here waiting when you come back.

See? I told you you’d be glad you went, but did you really have to be gone for an hour? Sheesh! Just what were you doing over there?

So as you no doubt saw on the website, Michael’s artwork is stunning and, the pictures he paints capture intensely intimate or emotional moments. Many of his paintings are also set in Provincetown. Naturally, that made his artwork a perfect fit for this series.

What I appreciate the most about Michael’s art (besides the hot, barely dressed men that is) is the mood of his images. They are fun and flirty, which perfectly captures the tone I set for the entire series and for Provincetown itself.

The title of the painting for When Love Comes to Town is “Blue State,” which perfectly describes one of the main characters of the book, Brody O’Shea.

Why is Brody blue?

Well, it’s mostly because he’s waiting for the perfect man. You see, Brody has lived his life mostly for the moment. He’s a pretty attractive guy, and he’s super nice to boot, but he’s never really been into relationships. The last one he had was in college, and when it got too real, he bolted faster than a Phelps at a gay pride event. Since then, Brody has just drifted from guy to guy, living life as a happy horndog.

That never bothered him until he moved to Provincetown. All his friends have partnered up and found true love, and Brody now sees exactly what he’s been missing all these years. He wants what everyone else has found, especially as the characters prepare for the wedding of two of their closest friends.

So Brody searches for his true love, but he goes about it the wrong way. Brody has some pretty high standards. He has a list of requirements that his “perfect” man must have, and when the men he dates doesn’t meet one of his prerequisites, they’re crossed off the list and on he goes, looking for love in the arms of the next candidate.

Brody has yet to learn what all the other characters have already been schooled on. Love is not something you find; love finds you.

That is why when the ruggedly handsome sheriff’s deputy, Eric Vasquez comes to town for his cousin Van’s wedding, Brody dismisses the hot cop as a potential mate. He might find Eric to be the hottest man he’s ever seen with a quirky personality he is drawn to, but there’s a hitch—Eric’s daughter Maddie.

Being childless is the most important requirement Brody has for his ideal man. And like the man depicted on the cover, Brody turns his back to the sea, completely unaware that it may have brought to him not what he’s been looking for but what he might have always needed.

That is why I chose “Blue State” for the cover of the final book in the series.

Before I head back to my part of the Internet, I want to thank everyone here at MM Good Book Reviews and the readers who joined me today.

For those interested, I have included a blurb and excerpt below. Additionally, as part of my blog tour I’m hosting a giveaway.

Brody O’Shea isn’t looking for much, just a hot guy with a decent job, who is sane and doesn’t have kids. The son of a former rock star, Brody has lived through the pain of bankruptcy and bad parenting, and he doesn’t want to experience it again. As a reformed horndog, he wants the security and stability of a relationship. But almost every guy he meets seems satisfied with Mr. Right Now, and he wants to find Mr. Right—now!

The only men Eric Vasquez chases are criminals. As a deputy and single father, he has no need for a relationship after his last one ended disastrously. He lives for and through Maddie, his nine-year-old daughter. Everything else is a needless distraction, but distraction is what Eric gets when he comes to Provincetown to attend the wedding between his cousin Van and the man of his dreams.

When Brody and Eric meet, what they want and what they find conflict. An ocean of expectations separates them. If they cannot move past their reservations to reach each other’s shores, they might miss the boat when love comes to town.

Excerpt:

Brody closely scrutinized the passengers as they exited the ferry. Perhaps one of the men who now scurried down the ramp might be the man of his dreams. Stranger things had happened. It was Provincetown after all. If someone like Nino Santos could find love, why couldn’t he?

Nino wasn’t exactly the kind of guy who partnered up. He’d always been the fuck-’em-and-leave-’em type. That was how they’d met last year. As a trick. Yet somehow Nino—with his model-perfect body, asshole attitude, and vain, self-absorbed ways—managed to find true love with Teddy, the nicest and sweetest man to ever walk this planet.

Just how the fuck did that happen? How could Nino have someone, and he be alone?

That just didn’t make any sense whatsoever.

What was he doing wrong? Not a damn thing as far as he was concerned.

He just had standards he wasn’t willing to sacrifice. For anyone. Sure, plenty of guys made exceptions. Most of his friends had. Quinn had to deal with Gary’s penchant for drag, and Gary had to put up with Quinn’s more serious approach to life. Zach looked past Van’s old porn career, and Van got over how Zach treated him. Teddy saw beyond the many awful qualities Nino possessed. As for Nino, well, he couldn’t find one bad characteristic Teddy had that Nino would have to overcome. The only negative Teddy brought with him to a relationship was his best friend Irene. Which was bad enough.

He wasn’t willing to overlook things that bothered him. Why should he? He wasn’t going to change himself for someone else and let someone else call the shots.

That wasn’t love. That was a dictatorship, and his dick wasn’t going to be ordered around by anyone. Well, except him, of course.

It was entirely within the realm of possibility that he would find someone who met his standards, a list that had grown exponentially after his encounter with Dan, and whom he wouldn’t have to change for. After all, that was the entire reason for the list. Surely, the man who met all his requirements would not only be perfect for him, but those standards would make Brody perfect for his ideal man as well.

It was a win-win situation for everyone.

Now, all he had to do was find that one perfect guy.

The group that now made its way down the pier didn’t have anyone to his liking. They were all smoking and blowing their cancer clouds all over the damn place. How could making out with an ashtray be hot? Behind the Future Cancer Patients of America strolled an attractive group of guys, but they had a little too much swish in their hips. What were they trying to do? Wash their clothes as they walked? He pictured himself with a manlier man. So they were definite no-nos.

Then he spotted a dark-skinned, ruggedly handsome man step off the metal gangway and look up and down the pier. He had a soft spot for dark skin. Especially on men with a bearded and good-looking face. And there didn’t seem to be another man with him.

This guy had definite promise.

Not only did he appear single, but he also had a thick head of black hair that wasn’t so long that it made him look grungy and wasn’t so short that he looked like a carbon copy of every other man who came to Provincetown. It was longer on the top, especially toward the front, but trimmed perfectly at the nape of the neck and on the sides. His unique hairstyle marked him as someone who was his own man, an original. He liked that.

Brody also enjoyed the way strands of hair fell in front of his eyes, which looked light in color. He couldn’t tell what hue they were from this distance, but they looked to be a mixture of yellow, gold, and copper. How much more unique could a man get?

He also wasn’t immediately lighting up a cigarette. While it didn’t automatically make him a nonsmoker, it showed promise that he wasn’t. His clothes also didn’t look dated or filthy, and he carried himself with an air of confidence. Only the gainfully employed could pull that off in his opinion. That was yet another requirement met.

And he hadn’t even talked to him yet!

All this man had to be was a sane, humble, nonwhining, childless man, and eureka! He’d have struck gold.

But in order to find that out, Brody would have to go up and talk to him. He just didn’t have the time. What if he missed Van’s cousin Eric while he was chatting up the dark-skinned hottie who might be his potential new love?

There was no reason he couldn’t do both. All he had to do was go up to the man and talk to him while he kept a watchful eye for some guy who resembled Van. He’d always been a great multitasker.

Brody began his approach, and then he noticed the small problem that ruined everything.

The guy had a kid.

About Jacob:

Jacob Flores - Tharp-Flores--(1179)__06_12_13

Jacob Z. Flores lives a double life. During the day, he is a respected college English professor and mid-level administrator. At night and during his summer vacation, he loosens the tie and tosses aside the trendy sports coat to write man on man fiction, where the hard ass assessor of freshmen level composition turns his attention to the firm posteriors and other rigid appendages of the characters in his fictional world.

Summers in Provincetown, Massachusetts, provide Jacob with inspiration for his fiction. The abundance of barely clothed man flesh and daily debauchery stimulates his personal muse. When he isn’t stroking the keyboard, Jacob spends time with his husband, Bruce, their three children, and two dogs, who represent a bright blue blip in an otherwise predominantly red swath in south Texas.

Thommie’s Review:  3 1/2 Hearts

And Provincetown boys are back, this time with Brody O’Shea’s story. You remember Brody right? Teddy’s college sweetheart, the one who dumped him after a marriage proposal, the one who went after Teddy when they came across each other in Provincetown years later, the blond, green-eyed , overconfident, and Hollywood material hunk? Yep, that Brody is back.

And that Brody is obsessed! Like I need to be in a relationship with the “One” and I need to spend every freaking spare time searching for him. Obsessed as in I have a list of qualities the perfect man must have and I’m not going to compromise. Obsessed as in one date and if you don’t meet the list you’re thrown to the curb. Yep, Brody is in for a real treat because our dear author throws in his way the “Perfect Man” who unfortunately has a little baggage. It’s called a child and it’s not on Brody’s list.

Arrogant much? Definitely. Brody is the epitome of arrogance, shallowness, and plain old stupid. And it’s exactly the reason he intrigued me and enticed me into reading this book. This kind of main character is usually hard to write because you need to give him absolutions and make him likable at some point. Fear not, Brody might seem like the total jerk, but not long into the story you come to absolutely adore him. I certainly liked him far quicker than I did Nino in book #3 so that’s something.

What made me wonder with Brody though was how mature he really is. From the little glimpse I got of him in book three he had this “nice” quality about him, but it was definitely overshadowed by arrogance back then. Here and now though, he surprised the heck out of me not only with his intuition, but also with how optimistic he was about life. That more than anything made me like him, a lot.

Now his counterpart is Eric, Eric a widower and father of this incredibly little munchkin of a 9 year old girl. I’m going to take a break here and fan-girl about Eric’s daughter, a very important character in this story as she seems to be orchestrating most of the events that occur. Not only is she a little adult, he is a joy to read. She has lost her daddy, her grandparents, and is forced to see her papa become a zombie since Eric has literally stop living his life and devoted himself in an almost scary way to her. Maddie gives this entire read a push and a direction not seen previously on the prequels of Provincetown Boys. I loved her and I wish I can see more of her in future installments.

So back to Eric, okay, he is one hot daddy. He is sex on legs, he is adorable, he is mouth-watering. He is a more difficult character than Brody. He has serious, serious issues that has been in him for years, and while the story is fun, and is hot, and is sweet, and has a happily ever after that goes hand in hand with the previous books, it also shares the one constant of said books – with the exception of Gil Kelly’s story – the fact that every couple has one week to make it happen in Provincetown. I don’t mind it, I don’t, I know it as a fact for this series and I’ve accepted it, but – and it’s a big but – one week felt so, so little time for Eric and Brody. It kind of jumped on the other side of credulity, so for me this thing kind of hampered things down a bit.

However, looking at the big picture here, the story was fun, it was funny, it had enticing characters, and damn it was hot. As in sizzling hot… As in steaming hot… Seriously, Eric was one daddy I’d like to have, that kind of hot. He was the very picture of a man’s man, and Eric with Brody they made one hell of a couple. So in the end I had a most enjoyable time reading this book.  Well done and definitely recommended to all fans of romance.

Tams Review:  3 Hearts

Brody O’Shea and Eric Vasquez have both known their fair share of heartache. Brody had a tumultuous childhood that has left him slightly bitter. The certified playboy has sworn off one night stands in his search for that ever elusive one person to spend the rest of his life with. Eric could be the perfect guy for Brody, there is only one little problem, Eric’s nine year old daughter Maddie.

Eric’s husband, Maddie’s other daddy, died just a few years ago leaving Eric with the sole responsibility of raising their daughter. Devoting his life to his job and Maddie, the last thing he is looking for or expects is to fall in love. But he is so drawn to Brody that he can’t help himself. Eric is still reeling emotionally from the death of his husband though, that coupled with Brody’s revelation that he didn’t initially want to date anyone with children is a recipe for disaster from the start.

Can Brody get over his hang-up about guys with kids? And even if he can, will he be able to help Eric finally face the pain he has kept bottled up inside so that these two can have the future together they deserve?

It took me a little while to make my way through this book. The storyline in and of itself was promising, but I never felt a real connection to either Eric or Brody. What got me through this story was little Maddie, she was aboso-fricking-lutely adorable! Her little one liners and the way she was written as a young, old soul simply stole the book for me. I understood the issues that both men faced within the story, each having their own personal demons, but overall it didn’t flow well for me.

I’m giving this one 3/5 because even though I didn’t connect completely with the story, the writing wasn’t bad. And little Maddie herself deserves a star all her own! There are some really passionate love scenes sprinkled throughout, and there is something to be said about a couple that is strictly a top and a bottom, no versatility. I liked that aspect of their as well.

Blurb: As vain as he is beautiful, Nino Santos happily lives life waiting for the next ferry full of fairies to bring him new conquests. As long as they aren’t hirsute, he’s all in. So he’s shocked to wake up after a beach party he cannot remember with a hairy naked man lying next to him.

Teddy Miller doesn’t remember the “Bear Week” party either. Much less, the Abercrombie & Fitch model wannabe next to him. Teddy doesn’t give two cents about appearances, but guys like Abercrombie don’t return the favor. That’s why he prefers men with extra fur and padding over carbon copy clones of perfection—a type of man Teddy is far too familiar with.

When Nino and Teddy glimpse each other the next morning, it’s loathing at first sight. Instead of exchanging phone numbers, they exchange insults and vow never to see each other again. In Provincetown, however, escaping a trick best forgotten isn’t easy. Mutual friends and chance circumstances keep Nino and Teddy in each other’s orbit. But are they fighting each other or the attraction growing between them? The answer lies amid Provincetown’s windswept dunes and the night neither of them can recall.

Review: What a fun read and such hilarious scenes this book had. I loved it and I was so glad to finally read Nino’s story.

You remember Nino right? Van’s friend from When Love Takes Over, the gorgeous model that hooked up with anything moving down the street. Anyone but bears of course, because if there’s one thing Nino can’t stand, that is Bear Week aka Self Exile Week. So imagine his surprise to wake up the first day of said week with a pocked bear on his bed.

But, it gets better. Meet Teddy Miller, a pocket bear who avoids plastic life-sized Ken-dolls with a passion. Now that doesn’t mean he doesn’t get horny by them, he simply had his heart carved out once upon a time and now he simply avoids anyone that resembles a model. Waking up in Nino’s bed, oh man, could things get worse?

Well out of all three books in the series, I found this one to be the funniest. It was a classic case of characters having a disturbed past and that affecting their present and their decisions, but the approach was humorous, fun, and joyful even as some passages were a bit heartbreaking, especially Nino’s childhood. While the author slowly gave us the details needed to overcome our initial impression of the shallow, superfluous Nino, and ultimately making us adore him and excuse his antics, he did so with a humoristic pen that had me laughing, smiling, and grinning like a looney with every line I read.

The story is sweet and romantic, funny and fresh, but most of all it is hot, so much so that it made my head spin and my beat go a lot faster. It took a while for the intimate scenes to come in sight as Nino and Teddy had to overcome their “hate at first sight,” and then had to become friends, but when it came, it definitely made a lasting impression. The chemistry between them was simply great and easily dragged you in the passion this pair shared. Their banter in and out of bed was exquisite and made everything just one lovely game instead of merely a hot scene.

As for the rest of the cast, well they were a joy as always, though we had new additions that stole the spotlight and of course, the Irene/Tara thingy, that was way cool. The story ends with a big event from our old favorite pair when Zach and Van surprised us (yet not so much) with their declaration.

Overall I think this was indeed one of the sweetest books in the series and a must read for the forever-romantics, and as much as this is easily a standalone I strongly recommend you pick up the previous two and enjoy the P-Town Boys.

Blurb: As a physician and prominent citizen of Victoria, Texas, Dr. Gil Kelly took a hard fall when his vengeful wife revealed his infidelity with other men. Closing ranks around her, the town’s elite ostracized him, and his relationship with his children was nearly destroyed.

After spending his life focused on living for others, he has no idea how to live for himself. He wants to find love but now settles for anonymous sex that only further clouds his world with shame and guilt. Gil believes finding true love is an unobtainable dream, what his father used to call “chasing the sun.”

Then he runs into Tom Martinez, his son’s childhood best friend, who returned to town a grown man and offers everything Gil needs. But Gil hesitates to fall into Tom’s arms, because after his high-profile divorce, the potential scandal of loving a younger man could separate him from his children permanently.

Review: Jacob Flores returns with a spin-off of When Love Takes Over and in this story we get to meet the oh so demanding father who was the cause of so much pain for Zach, Gil Kelly. However as all coins have two sides so does this character, so while our first glimpse of Gil was through Zach’s eyes and feeling, now we get to meet the real man and decide for ourselves.

I loved this book! That sated I have to say that this was not the story I expected. There is no Provincetown this time around and with the lack of the actual place, there is also a lack of fun and games that accompanied the first story set there. This is more a story of growth and fight, and internal search and a game of wills if you like. This story is set back in Victoria, Texas and it’s the story of a grown man who has lived his entire life inside a lie and is finally chasing for his dreams.

I loved this story! I loved Gil! I’m always more than happy to read a story where the main character is not twenty, thirty or even mid-thirties as most are. Gil is in his early fifties, a man who has quite literally lived a whole life, a man who already has two children in their thirties. There is no midlife crisis about him, but in a crisis he’s still living ever since his sex life became public by the mouth of his very wife, when she caught him in the middle of tryst with another man. This is a story that has too many bitter feelings waiting to be solved in the corners of this character’s life, while in the meantime it’s one hell of a romance.

While Gil has exiled himself from society and runs the other way whenever he sees a former acquaintance out of shame, there is one person that during these five past years has never stopped trying to close the gap. Tom, his son’s best childhood friend has never stopped trying to get close to Gil again whenever he’s in town. Now that Tom is returning back to Victoria for good he is giving it a shot again, and this time Gil lets his shame on the side for a bit and makes room for a man that he used to look as his own son. Well almost. After all one of the reasons Gil had been avoiding Tom was the fact that he long ago stopped seeing him as the little boy Tom once was, and more as the extremely charming man he has become.

I have to say that when it comes to man on man intimacy Jacob Flores has a peculiar way of taking you in a wild ride no matter the genre of the book. I quite love his men, they are not only hot, and they are irresistible. One moment you are reading and getting attached to the personality and the struggling Gil suffers, the next you are in wonderland and panting along with them in a highly erotic beat, and the very next you get almost wrung out with the emotional state this character brings you while he’s trying to bring his life and family in order.

I loved his daughter she was such a strong character. I loved Zach when he came in the end. But most of all I loved how the author turned Donna around, how he made her pain a spotlight and gave her the outlet she got in the end. Yes, women can be bitches, big ones at that, but damn if this one bitch didn’t make me feel for her in the end. It was also the last point Gil got and made him shine as a character, made him one of the best and in my favorite list.

In the end, I might not have gotten what I expected from Provincetown #2, but I got an even better deal. I loved every single line written and I’m absolutely sure you will too. Strongly recommended!

p.s.

I keep feeling that Tom resembles too much of Jacob and Gil somehow is based on Bruce…

On a whim, he heads to Provincetown, Massachusetts, to nurse his broken heart and figure out his next step. He’s expecting to find rest and relaxation on the sandy beaches of Cape Cod. Instead, Zach meets a hunky porn star during a chance encounter at a leather shop he mistakes as a place to buy a belt that is definitely not for whipping.

Van Pierce is smitten when shy and inexperienced Zach crashes through a shelf of fetish gear. Though Van’s got an insatiable appetite for men on and off the set, his porn persona, Hart Throb, hides a broken heart. He’s struggling to find the reality the porno set doesn’t offer, and Zach is fighting to find the fantasy that will set his writing on fire. The odd goofball and the suave beefcake may either find love amid Provincetown’s colorful pageantry where summer never seems to end—or more heartbreak than either can imagine.

Review: With this second book, I’m reading from Flores, I’m getting more and more convinced that he is a very peculiar writer. Again, the ability to ensnare you with his words and trap you in a story you can’t escape unless you’re done reading is obvious. There is this uncanny skill he has that drives you crazy with his text, makes you hot, makes you laugh, makes you dream…

In this book he writes about love coming when you least expect it and rising above every insecurity and step that might block its path.

Zach, a seriously screwed up character in my opinion, has reached rock bottom, again. His tyrant boyfriend of three years breaks up with him out of nowhere and Zach finds himself in limbo. Not understanding why every relationship he has gets ruined despite the fact that he tries to become everything his partners want him to.

Quite literally Zach is at the start of this book what his ex calls him – and I agree – a big baby, with his ex making every decision in the relationship from what he wears to what he eats. I didn’t like Zach much. His insecurities, while having deep roots stemming from his relationship with his father, made him too weak in my eyes and held no appeal. But that soon changed when he makes a spontaneous decision and heads to Provincetown. In his search to find and center himself as a person and a writer, Zach falls prey to P-Town’s magic and changes his entire life.

Meanwhile in P-Town a hot, steamy, and sexy porn-star is living the live he pursued. Van having been used and made feel worthless from every relationship he ever had, made the decision he’s going to fuck who he wants, how he wants, without the fear of breaking his heart again. Being a power bottom for a very respectful studio gives him all the perks and a safe place for his heart. Everything is just perfect until he meets a very clumsy, adorable, and sexy red-haired man, who is not only completely out-of-place in P-Town with his baggy shorts and two sized bigger t-shirt, but he doesn’t even recognizes him as his alter ego Hart Throb, meaning he only sees Van as Van. What a heady feeling, how very rare nowadays that a man will look at him with such innocence. Could he be real or is that just a mask and he’s in danger to fall once again a victim of a cruel man out for his heart?

A man, I loved it. The plot was from serious, to hilarious, to fun and games, and sexy and romantic. It was so wholesome my head is still spinning. The way Zach came to Town, his interaction with Gary and Quinn and Tara and (omg) Penny!!! I loooooved Penny Poison, I died a little bit every time Penny came in view. And should I mention his trip down the “wild and daring” lane? And good God, Dylan. What a scene, what a feeling. Between gagging for breath from such a strong fit of laughter and trying not to wretch from gross, I have to admit that scene was so powerful it made my head spin with the dual emotions battling in my head.

And then came the amazing sexual marathon scenes, and oh dear me, I had to fan myself with what I was reading. Yes, this couple was so strong and fierce, and Zach had at this point done such a 180 turn, that they were fantastic together. Too hot! Now there was a serious smell/sweat fetish there, as in a serious, serious case of rubbing in the other sweat to smell like him and such, so heads up, don’t say I didn’t warn you. As for me, well that’s one of my kinks so not only it didn’t bother me, but also it made the read stronger somehow and spicier.

What I found over the top was the drama in the end. I seriously dislike when a character goes from friend to friend and apologizes to the entire cast before he finds the person that really matters. By the end of the read I had to read the same thing, oh I don’t know how many times. He went to Gary and Quinn, to Nino, and of course, there was Van and the book. Meh, quite melodramatic and sappy, the part that took me down a bit from the heights I was floating in. Plus, me being always in favor of a bit of vindication, I absolutely hated that there was no damn closure with Ben (the ex). You cannot image the fit I threw when I read end, and no revenge over that idiot was taken. Agrrrr!!! Yeah not very mature of me, but come on, vindication is the icing on the cake, why did you take the icing off dear author? *sniff*

And here I draw my line. I’m done. It was a fantastic read I urge you to read and I bet not only you’ll not regret, but also you’ll have the best time you’ve had for a while. It’s a seriously great read. Enjoy!

Blurb: Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are prescribed ideals in America of 2050. The Moral Authority, the nation’s newest branch of government, has virtually eliminated crime, poverty, and most social ills, but it also rules the land with a tyrannical fist, championing ignorance and brandishing fear.

Mark Bryan is a gay man whose existence brands him an outlaw; Isaac Montoya is a charming stranger, who entices Mark to defy moral law; and Samuel Pleasant runs the Moral Authority and plans to punish moral offenders and a rebellious uprising—no matter the cost.

Will liberty and justice return for all?

Review: I love it when I get my hands on a book which is so well written it has the ability to evoke a number of emotions from me. I’m also know to love book that have a somewhat realistic approach and ending, and I’m not shy to the ones that have a tragic ending either.

Moral Authority is one such book. It attacks your soul with the first line that goes through you like a bullet and continues to do so through the duration of the story. As impossible as it seemed at the time, this story starts with the very end scene, it tells you point blank there is no happy ending here and it makes it clear as day that this is going to be heartbreaking. With its very prologue it dares you to continue reading and I warn you this is not a light read or a fun one.

In this dystopian world America has come a long way from what it is today in only a matter of half century. In this New America morality is praised and savored and guarded by all means. Moral Authority is a new branch that guards everyone’s life, integrity and morals. Crime as we know it has vanished, diversity too, gangs, murders, stealing, hustling, everything that threatens our lives today have come to an end. Immorality is the crime and everything is dealt with an iron fist. Seems perfect, or it should be, but we all know what happens when extremism reigns.

Individuality is lost and people are turned into one similar mass, clones of each other. Happiness is no longer pursued rather the illusion of it is supposedly a given. The Moral Police dictates how people should live their life and freedom has lost its true meaning. Among all things that are lost to humans is also their right to their sexuality. The Gay/Lesbians/Bisexuals of America has either fled when things changed or went underground. The ones still living among their peers live in fear, always looking behind their shoulder. Undercover police has a new meaning and baits for homosexuals are in each and every corner. Homosexuality is a crime and has a special kind of Hell on Earth, the cruelty of which can’t be comprehended.

I’m not going to dwell on the specifics of the plot and the story. I’m simply going to point out that this story has it all, depression, desperation, love, hope, heartbreak and loss, tortures and cruelty in every form and a most realistic approach that if we look closely in our past and especially countries that has suffered from Dictators, we will see how very similar the events that happen in this story are to events Humanity has already suffered and could suffer if we are not careful of our Human Rights. You can see how similar Chancellor Pleasant is to Hitler, how very similar the gay camps in the books are to the Jew camps the Nazi had. How very similar the life in this “utopian” America is to the countries plagued by Communism or strong Religion. Coming from one such country I couldn’t help but relate to most of the story, to how homosexuals are treaded in such societies, to the horrors of the camps and the despair that comes from not being able to live your life freely. It was gut-wrenching to read and awakened many memories of the past and tales I was told from my elders.

In the end this is a very carefully and brilliantly written book that one should not miss. Strongly recommended.

Review: Matthew has had many tragedies throughout his life, and each year his birthday brings danger. But, his guardian angel, Gabriel, is always there in the background keeping him safe. But, this year is different, as the forces of evil are determined to put an end to the Gifted One and Gabriel crosses a line never meant to be crossed. Matt and Gabriel jeopardize God’s Grand Design by falling in love, defying God’s laws and now a sacrifice must be made before it is too late.

This is a great good vs. evil, heavenly powers story. Matthew is the Gifted One and since the night of his birth has been hunted by evil.  Gabriel is the Archangel charged with keeping him safe, but Gabriel has grown to love the mortal under his protection and he breaks the rules when he shows himself to Matt. Matt is confused about his instant connection to the mysterious Gabriel. But, he tries to put it to the side to make a go of it with Craig, a man who has great potential in the boyfriend stakes. Evil still haunts Matt and monsters from his past are poised to strike and the contact with Gabriel pushes their feelings to the surface. But acting on their love could prove too dangerous with the powers of heaven disapproving.

I enjoyed most of this book, but I have to admit to disliking parts of it, especially when it came to Matt’s inability to basically stand up for himself against his friends and how understanding he had to be all the time, it wasn’t natural. The storyline was great and Gabriel and Matt were an interesting couple. I liked the way that the past was told in full for the pivotal moments and the way that evil twisted humans to do its bidding. The way the story flows is brilliant and it has emotional twists and turns, with some heavenly aspects and stories lending to the story. There’s lots of danger with rescues, some angst, arguing, forgiveness and love, there are some horrifying moments but also some moments of great sacrifice and devotion.

I will recommend this to those who love Angels and evil, some hot sex, Archangels giving it all up for love, danger, and a great ending.
