Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order.
Events at the start of the book happen in conjunction with the first book in the series. It was nice to see how Keith and Bobby first met in order to help their best friends. What follows after should have just been a hookup but it turns into something more for both of them.

What I find funny was that the two of them fall into the same trap that their friends did. Neither one is willing to be themselves out there and admit that their relationship if more than just fuck buddies. Also Keith lets his age and other people get in the way of things.

Thankfully Keith pulls his head out of his ass. Just in time too in order to be there for Bobby when his world falls apart.

The sex was a little low-key in this book. A good portion happens “off screen” I suppose I could say. What scenes there are, are hot and sexy with just the right amount of steamy. This book really seemed to focus in on the events and fall outs.

I will say this, the start was a little stilted for me. There was a lack of emotion. The details and interactions were given, but it was just that. I didn’t really feel Keith and Bobby until later in the book.

Overall I did enjoy this story once I got past those first few chapters.

Review: Anders last relationship with a colleague turned bad, not only did he move out, he moved to Alaska and started a new life there. He loves his new job and colleagues. Even though the sexy native has caught his eye, he tries to keep things platonic. Until he finds himself facing death in an earthquake and realizing life is too short.

Ujaruk was hurt in a past relationship being used by an under-grad. He likes his job and finds himself very attracted to the sexy red-headed Anders but is afraid to have his heartbroken, but is heart-ache scarier than a deadly earthquake?

I really loved this story. There was a good build up, we knew Anders past from the prologue and found out more back story later from both Anders and Ujaruk. There is a bit of mystery about the mine, and the Earthquake plays a big part in the story.

I would have liked to know more about what they were looking for in the mine and why the other men were there. Other than that the story was fantastic. Just enough back-story, romance and sexual tension.

If you like natural disasters, geologists, slow building relationships, not a lot of sex and a sweet, romantic story, this is for you

Review: Xavier isn’t sure of Devon’s motives at first of why out of the blue he wants to see his grandfather after all these years until he is sick and in the hospital. Devon has to convince Xavier he only wants a chance to know the grandfather his family has kept him from.

Devon is a thrill seeker and was a mountain bike champion until a nasty accident hurt his knee and stopped him from riding in competitions. He thinks he is qualified to help with his Grandfather’s company in mountain bike tours.

I really liked this story a lot. It is pretty much a fast paced story and is insta love or at least insta attraction between Devon and Xavier but it is good. I liked the blend of the romance, Xavier’s past romance, Devon’s grandfather’s illness and the earthquake.

If you like natural disasters, instant attraction, beautiful scenery, earthquakes and a sexy romance this is definitely for you.

Review: Rhody had come to Alaska on vacation to get away from it all and relax. He finds himself sharing a duplex cabin with a sexy Bear of a man. When I say Bear I mean it in all aspects of the word…though Rhody doesn’t know that Brendan is a shape shifter.

The story switches views from Rhody to Brendan and the transitions are pretty smooth. The beginning of the story is setting Rhody’s character and both Brendan’s One side of the duplex is completely destroyed and there is a big gap in the road where it will make it harder to get rescued.

I thought this was such a unique take on these natural disaster collections and I do give kudos to the author for putting more focus on the earthquake. I loved the premise of the shapeshifter and the double entendre on the word bear. I especially loved that Brendan had a hearing impairment and that there was a slow build up between the two men.

Then the Earthquake hits. It felt like this was a book one of a series the way so much was left unresolved but there isn’t anything that leads to that if I have to say that this story would have been as good without Brendan being a bear shifter. I would love to see this in a full novel.

If you like Shapeshifters, bears, big men, earthquakes, natural disasters and moderate sex this is for you.

Review: When a powerful senators son and an environmentalist meet in college sparks flew and not the good kind. Whenever Derek and Haydon were together they argued, then one day things seemed different when Derek agreed to cover a story for the school paper,

Then for some unknown reason to Hayden Derek buried the story and their feelings as well..12 years later the sparks are still there.

This story had a great premise as a second chance story. I was a bit disappointed to find out that their meeting in college wasn’t romantic. Where the story had lots of good points I would have liked more focus on the Earthquake. Also it was mentioned a few times that Derek once was a fireman he had a scar but then nothing was told as to what happened.

It is a good story with a quick pace. I wanted to keep reading to see if Derek and Hayden got together and what their backstory was. The paragraph of their first kiss had me weak in the knees.

If you like stories about Natural disasters, Earthquakes, reporters, environmentalists and a pretty sweet romance with some moderate man-sex this is for you.

Review: Avery, Gabriel’s brother’s boss, finds himself homeless after an earthquake. Gabriel is alone and lonely and offers Avery and his family a place to stay until insurance comes through and they can rebuild or find a new home.

Gabriel is attracted to Avery but unaware that Avery is gay.

The premise of this story is good. It is all in Gabriel’s viewpoint and thoughts.  I found a few things missing I would have like more details on Avery’s split up, Gabriel’s parent’s death, how each man attend his physical needs beforehand. I would have liked more interaction between Gabriel and Avery.

Having said that the sex scene when they come together was pretty hot.

If you like natural disasters, troopers, caring men, cute kids and some sweet sensual man-sex this is for you!

Review: This is a delightfully short novella is the first book in Chris McHart’s Love in Germany series. It also happens to be a hot BDSM-themed Christmas story. Note: since this book was released eight months ago, I looked up and could not find out any more on this series although the author has various works in progress.

The story is told from the POV of Ryan. He is sent to Germany to work and while there falls in love with Julian, who meets at a market. The attraction is instant and it’s hot. Julian also happens to be a Dom, and Ryan is more than willing to be his sub.

Both characters are likable and it’s difficult not to feel Ryan’s highs and lows between meeting Julian and then having to return to the states. I feel that we’ve only just got a small taste of the passion that these two characters are capable of. At first Julian is so unassuming that I was finding it difficult to see him as a Dom, but he just fits the role perfectly.

It doesn’t have to be Christmas to enjoy reading this one. It’s hot and it’s a bit of fun too. If you like your BDSM, you’ll like it. But the characters are so damn relatable and I think it’s because they start off quite ordinary and unassuming.

It started with gentle tremors and slight exhaustion after a long day in the OR. Mark ignored the signs, and now overuse and repetitive stress have rendered his hands practically useless. It hurts even to brush his teeth.

For Mark, it seems his career is over just a couple of years after it began. He sinks deeper into depression with each day, and he doesn’t have high hopes for the weeklong stay in the physiotherapy clinic his mother has arranged for him. His therapist, Corey, is young and handsome, but Mark isn’t looking for a boyfriend.

Review: The Monolith was something of a first exposure for me to the writing of Albert Nothlit. Overall, this was an excellent read. I like that it rather than outright explored the theme of finding love after a life changing event. Instead our main character is a lot more realistic than that. In that way, it makes this book both relatable and believable. (I’ll get to my observations about the monolith part of the story at the end).

The story centres on Mark. A talented surgeon and like many in the profession, places too much pressure and stress on his body (and mind). The result of this is that Mark now has a type of repetitive strain injury and will not be able to operate again without intense physical therapy. This leads him to a “therapy retreat” where he meets Corey.

They hit it off right away but the question is, is this a romance or just a bromance? Neither of them is looking for a boyfriend and they are in very different stages, at least mentally, in their lives. The best part, perhaps, is that there is room for a sequel, so it would be nice to be able to know more about what happens to these guys.

Okay, so let’s cover that monolith part. It is the title of the book and at first it occurred to me that “monolith” referred somewhat to Mark’s state of mind – his injury seemed insurmountable to the point he was depressed that he would never be a surgeon again.

Then later on, as Mark and Corey get to know each other, we are thrown an actual real ancient monolith. It’s hanging about in the California desert, near the retreat and is pretty cool. Now we come to why I took off half a star, because this is something that is really bugging me. Events surrounding the physical monolith allow Corey and Mark to get their shit together but the way it was done was… it was a bit X-Files.

And yes, I know “monolith” usually makes people think either faeries or aliens. Basically, the monolith has an X-Files supernatural moment, maybe a total of three pages in an otherwise contemporary novella, and that is it. To me it seemed out-of-place because as a plot device it wasn’t used at all, it was just there. It was used in the same way that one of the characters could have said “oh no! I think I saw a bear!” or whatever other wild animal you can conjure to exist in those parts.

Otherwise, this is a really excellent read. I love that Mark is realistic and is concentrating on getting better, physically and mentally, and not ready for anything serious. Yet at the same time you can see from the get go there is so much potential between Corey and Mark. The chemistry is great. Corey is all sunshine and kindness, the opposite of Mark’s bluntness. I would love to see both these characters develop further in a sequel, as I said above.

I would recommend this one to those who especially like a medically “broken” character. As the story progresses we see Mark get over his ego, and slowly come to terms with his injury and his treatment. In general though, I imagine that this is the type of book that would appeal to just about anyone.

Review: SJ Frost was one of the first authors I found when I started reading M/M 5 years ago. The Conquest series was then, and remains still, to be one of my most favorite series ever. Acting on Love is book #8 and I highly recommend each and every one of them.

In this book, Brandon and Shunichi are already together, but if you haven’t read the others prior you can still read this one and follow along without feeling lost. I always recommend reading the series, if you can, because the history leading up to the here and now is priceless.

Brandon is struggling with his career. He bombed his last audition, according to him, and he starts to doubt if anything worth having will come along for him. His main concern, however, is feeling like he let Shun down by not pulling his weight. Of course, that’s the furthest thing from Shunichi’s mind because no matter what Brandon does he is always proud of him.

When Brandon gets a call from his agent with incredible news about an audition, he is ecstatic. This will be an opportunity to fulfill his lifelong dreams of being on stage. Once the excitement levels off he realizes there may be too many stumbling blocks in the way. If he would get the part it would mean a lot of time spent away from Shun, and that is something he can’t fathom.

Brandon has a lot of people giving him support and no matter what happens with the audition they will find a way to make it work. Shunichi was worried at first but he knows how important this is to Brandon. He will do whatever is necessary to put Brandon and his dreams first.

SJ Frost writes beautiful stories and this one is no exception. It was awesome to catch up with Jesse and Evan and I was smiling from ear to ear at the banter between the brothers. The love between Brandon and Shun has only gotten stronger and it was beautiful to watch their interaction.

There is more than one surprise in this story and I hope that the author dropped those little hints so that she may use them in the future for more books in this series. I can’t recommend this book or the series enough. There is humor that will keep a smile on your face and the sex is always hot and passionate. Everything you could want in a story you will find it with this author.

Acting on Love is a beautiful and heartfelt window into the journey of Brandon and Shunichi.

Review: Hmm, I have to say when I first started reading this book I honestly thought the beginning was the author words and not the story so it took me by surprise to realize I was reading the actual story. Armando seemed abrasive and rude to the point of being insulting at times yet tender at others while at the same time coming off as conceited and self-absorbed.

Although I love sarcastic characters this did not strike me as sarcastic at all. I was very glad that Mads seemed to give back the abrasive behavior to Armando rather than not say anything. However if it had been me I would have walked away and never looked back.

I hate to say it but I did not enjoy this book as much as I normally would a paranormal book which shocked me. That was due to the very beginning and Armando’s dialogue. I had to force myself to read the entire book and was gritting my teeth wanting to slap Armando at times.

I’m sorry but I did not like this book, but will give it a 3 for effort.

Review: Each book in the Experimentals collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

While Linc had been hunting his brother down, he comes across his mate. He will do everything in his power to protect him. He just had not known it was so bad. Gideon’s brother had forced him into sex with Linc, but he had not known it would mate them. Linc had been injured but he knew he could get them to safety, but first he had to get them away.

Then the twisted part was there were so many secrets floating around that what they all believed might not be true. Linc loved his mate, no matter who he truly is. Zero Tolerance was there to protect them all but there were a lot more dangers coming for them.

I would recommend reading this especially if you love gorgeous men, magic, paranormals, excitement, action and danger. It gave that to me and so much more.

Review: This is book eight in this series and I was right about it. I had such a blast reading this and loving the guys in this book. Dillon has always loved children and wanted to help them, it wasn’t till he met Soldier that they could make sanctuary real. They have the hearts of angels and love to help young boys who need help. They have taken in and watch their boys grow. The first time I read this was with book seven and saw how they were with the twins and Chip. They show their love to all of the kids and I loved it.

Soldier had been injured while at war. He had save some of his men, watch three of them die and thought the other two he couldn’t get to also died. He was right about Bailey but he had not known that Double D had survived, until he got the call. He went as soon as he could to help, but had not expected that Double D to be the evil man that he turned out to be. He knew that if he didn’t get away, that Dillon would go insane.

Dillon knew the moment he couldn’t get Soldier on the phone that something was definitely wrong. So he sends his grown sons to save their father. Now to bring the man he loves home to his family.

I had a blast reading this and I sure hope that there is another one coming out soon. I would recommend reading this and can guarantee that you will love it. This author is fairly new to me, but I can tell you that I will be checking out the rest of this amazing author’s books.

There is always just a hint of humor in them that makes it perfect. It captivated me from the moment I started reading it and kept it all the way to the end. It gave me exactly what I wanted in a story.

Review: Alright, first off, let’s get Kermit the Frog out of our heads before we begin.

This is one fun book. Certainly interesting, we are introduced to a character, Mick, who is probably agoraphobic to some degree with OCD chucked in for good measure. Then there is Ceri, he is something of a knight in shining armour to Mick.

Mick’s back story is wonderfully interesting and heartbreaking. This is a guy who has been mentally abused by two people who apparently had unconditional love for him. Mick is an odd mix of naive, innocent and easily lead but his character is totally lovable.

He finds it difficult to move on. His mental scars are holding him back and probably exacerbated by his mental condition. Mick is very set in his routine – including his work hours and his shopping day/time. Mick works security, a job that was found for him when he was left floundering after the death of his lover.

This is where Ceri enters. He is an intriguing character in his own right. He works driving truck/filling vending machines, which is how he meets Mick. Ceri is interested but knows that Mick is the complete opposite to his type of guy. Ceri is certainly the opposite of Mick’s type with his rainbow coloured hair and motorbike. It is through meeting Ceri and through Ceri’s POV that we find out more and more about Mick. I’m going to put it out there, that Mick is more interesting character out of the two. Though Ceri is a wonderfully cuddly and sweet character in his own right.

As a side note, any Whovians are going to get a kick out of this book. Mick and Ceri begin to bond over the TV show Doctor Who, which even includes a road trip to Wales where the show is filmed. Seriously, as an avid fan I was cursing Ceri for not saying David Tennant was his favorite doctor but inordinately pleased that Captain Jack was a favorite companion. I will also guarantee that many fans will smile and know immediately the specific episodes being referenced, most of which from 9 and 10 era New Who.

I’m going to have to concede the heavy Doctor Who references increased my enjoyment but even without these, this is completely my type of book. That would be the reason why I read it. Sweet and wonderful, it is an interesting view on two very real characters who have their own issues.

I loved it, I hope others do too!

Review: When I first came across this book all it took was the title. I didn’t even bother looking at the blurb. Which turned out to be a big mistake. There is no action and it is a very slow love story. I was disappointed in this book. It however is a great story with characters that will draw you in.

However it just dwindled along and did not give me a desire to read it again. I want a story that is going to draw me in and keep my attention the whole time I am reading. This was predictable. I knew what was going to happen even before reading the next chapter. They don’t argue, there is no tension but a little bit about pictures and there was nothing there that was jumping out at me.

Sam was a politician’s favorite man. He had helped them get into office. However the man he worked for was retiring. He wasn’t sure what he would do from then on. On a night out to think, he meets a sexy seal. Then to his luck one of his favorite politician’s wants him to help her win the President spot. Here he was starting a new relationship and he was hardly ever there.

Blake wanted Sam and it would seem his daughter wanted the same thing. It would take some getting used to but it sure is hard being away from his lover. He had to remember his time serving and how his parents were with it, and then use that strength for his relationship with Sam.

It is a very good story with tender touches, long kisses and some hot sex. The thing is there is not a lot of sex in this, which is disappointing in one. Then it just flows in one direction with no attitude to it. The title is hot but misleading, which shows me to always look at the blurb. I would recommend this if you are for love stories, tender moments, and cute kids.

I hope that the next book has some action, danger or something in it to keep my attention.

Review: This is the first book by this author that I read and I must admit that I have got to go read the first six books. It was a fascinating story that intrigued me and I couldn’t take my eyes off of it. To know that there is a place for these boys just makes my heart swell.

Scarcity sanctuary was started by one sweet man who had the heart of an angel. Then he met his husband and things started to get even better. Dillion was the one that originally took care of children but his husband Soldier was the one that had the money to build the idea.

Chip had just been walking when he was attacked and hurt. If it had not been for the help of two little angels he would have probably died. Jaja and Jojo had been living on the streets for a couple of months on their own and let me tell you that it was a big surprise since they are twin six-year olds.

These two amazing children saved Chip and hid him in the dumpster with them. Chip had been kicked out of his home for being gay at the age of sixteen, now he was seventeen and just trying to stay alive. Now he knew he had to keep these two safe also. Then to his surprise, another angel found them and got them to a true home.

Ben was doing his first day at the theater, when he was asked by the bitch to go make sure the dumpsters were empty and push them to where the city could come take them. What he had not expected was to find two cute little boys and a sexy young man hiding in them. So he calls his two adoptive fathers to come help them.

After a time he knew he was falling in love with Chip, but there were so many people out there that wanted him dead and Chip doing tricks. It would take the whole family to keep them all safe. There was even more support for the twins, since their foster-father was a nasty piece of work. More people to love, is what I see.

It shows the love that the fathers feel for all the children they have taken in, and to just see the twins and Chip and automatically take them in is amazing. I wished that there were people like this in the real world. Also the amount of hate that all of these men and boys have gone through will have you wanting to rip them to shreds.

There is so much seriousness in this story but there is just a hint of humor in it that will have you captivated from the start. It gave me exactly what I wanted in a book and I cannot wait to read the next story, but first I have to go buy the first six and catch up.

I can tell you that most of the story had me in tears from the pain that they all lived through and from the way the family is with each other. I loved this book and would definitely recommend it to everyone. Trust me this is the book that will have you believing in others. To show you that there is some goodness in the world.

Review: This is book six in the Storming Love Flood Collection. These books do not have to be read in any order.

Sam is set up to go on a hiking trip with his first lover. A man he slept with once then never heard from again. When Patric came back to town from the services, he looked at Sam as if he didn’t even know him. Needless to say he wasn’t looking forward to the trip, but his mom and sister had purchased it and were insistent he took it.

This is a good story. The underlying romance was the main focus of this story and I would have really liked to have seen more of the flood. It was barely a mention here. There was no real drama or danger. But having said that the story is a sweet romance with some hot mansex.

If you like natural disasters, hiking, past loves and some romance this is for you!

Review: This is part of a series however, these books stand-alone well and can be read in any order.

Euan has had a crush on Gregg since high school. Gregg is coming to visit and Euan is looking forward to his visit, but also a bit anxious as this will be a deciding factor in whether he will move on with his love life when Gregg comes back. Gregg is coming with some news but will it be too late?

This story had a lot of potential. I did like the storyline of these two men, but it felt disconnected to the food and the flood seemed to be an afterthought thrown in. There was also a sweet scene in the beginning with another friend Nicos, which also felt disconnected.

Now having said that… if this had been a little longer story with a bit more drama (and more Nicos, more of the stuff with Gregg and Brice where it all connected more, I think it would have been great.)

There is some drama and excitement and the love scenes between Euan and Gregg are hot.

If you like stories about natural disaster, drama, romance, friends to lovers and some relatively hot man-sex this is for you

Review: Even though this is a series each book can be read individually or in any order just fine.

When Steven stays behind to find a little girl and has to stay behind alone in the middle school with the waters rising quickly, his only regret is his fight with his lover that morning.

Derrick being a fire chief in a small town has to choose between his duties and his personal feelings of rescuing his lover. Will an argument be the last thing he gets to say to him?

For a short story, there is a lot of drama and passion in both the words and between these two men. You can feel the pain in the air as well as the approaching floods.

I will say that it did start a bit slow and a few things in the first couple chapters felt a bit repetitive but once the storm hit so did the pace of the story.

If you like a good series based on natural disasters, drama, suspense, and romance this is for you.
