This is the first book in The Vampire Guard series. I did not know how I’d feel about this book due to this is the first one I have read by this author but man was I surprised. It had everything I could want in a story and then some. Mystery, deception, hot paranormal men, action, suspense and adventure. This story wraps the reader in a world that is anything but ordinary.
I really enjoyed getting to know the MC’s of this book and their partners. Jonas is a vampire and a cop and stops at nothing to solve a crime. Blair, a vampire, technician and Jonas’ partner seemed unsure of himself except when it came to solving a crime, though I understood as he was still in the ‘newbie phase’ as I call it.
Declan, a vampire, was one of the most mysterious of the characters. That was due to his work before. It added a level of danger and anticipation that I enjoyed. He seemed nice but yet cold as ice when the situation was necessary. Lucas is a werewolf, medical examiner. Declan’s partner and Jack’s best friend.
I loved the interactions between these men and was stunned as to how well they all worked together. I think that the group that wanted to recruit them could have just asked them rather than lie and kidnap them. The mystery of the book was well written and riveting. I enjoyed the folklore and legend involved and was astounded as to what actually happened.
This book will captivate you from the start and have you reading until the very end to find out the end result. With brilliantly detailed scenes that leave you holding your breath to the actual details of the crimes this book was a winner to me if I could give it 10 stars I would.
I am so glad I had the opportunity to read such an amazing story. I am looking forward to reading more of this series. Highly recommended.

I fully concur with Shorty’s review; Elizabeth Noble has, yet again, written an amazing story that you can lose yourself in. The characters shine yet again (The Sleepless City series 2 & 4) and we see them as they embark on a new adventure as they take their unique skills and use them for the greater good.
The best thing for me though is catching up with Jonas, Blair, Lucas and Declan again and seeing how their relationships have continued to be strong and loving. I seriously can’t wait to see what Elizabeth and The Vampire Guard series has in store for us next!
I recommend this to those who love paranormal stories with added mystery, who adore characters that come alive before your eyes, who fangirl/boy over amazing storylines and for those who love it when myth and legend surprises even the most jaded of paranormals!

Miles is a wolf shifter who doesn’t care what sex his mate will be, he just never expects his mate to be a cat shifter. Accepting his mating is easy but actually mating is another matter when his mate is on the run from a father who is determined that his son will mate a female and produce cubs.
Quincy would love nothing more than to claim his mate, but with the men his father has sent getting closer all the time Quincy is determined that he won’t draw danger to his mate, but when Quincy ends up in Miles’ emergency room they can no longer deny their bond.
Wow this story is a bit of a roller-coaster ride, the twists and turns were stunningly executed, the characters were well written and the storyline just draws you in.
Miles and Quincy are a fantastic couple, they just seem to slide easily into being a couple once they accept they are stronger together than they are apart. We get to know both Miles and Quincy quite well; we come to love them as they face danger that comes from unexpected quarters. What they eventually uncover is a shocking conspiracy that could see… well I’ll let you discover that for yourself 😉
This story is pretty fast paced; everything slides into place perfectly even as it surprises you. I have got to admit that the events as they unfold made perfect sense even as I was thinking ‘damn I never would have thought that’.
As we watch Quincy and Miles get to the bottom of their problems we are joined by Jamie & Chad (Patience) and Finley & Tanner (Devotion) so we delightedly get to catch up with the guys.
Oh yeah, stick around for the epilogue ‘cause it’s just so cute and sweet!
I recommend this to those who love paranormal romances that hit the right spot, who love overcoming obstacles that are far larger than first thought, who adore characters who come alive and are exceptional and those who swoon over happily ever afters!

Candy is being buried with responsibility as he takes over the Hidden Gem, he micro manages and has little time for his friends and when he notices that Ivy is growing closer to Jack he gets jealous, but is he jealous of Jack or Ivy? Ivy has grown to love both Jack and Candy but can’t think of a way to get the two men together, with Jack’s lack of sexual interest and Candy’s near satyriasis needs Ivy doesn’t know if they would ever find a middle ground. Jack cares for both Ivy and Candy and is comfortable with Ivy’s sweetness and gentle caring but Candy’s aggressive needs scare the hell out of him. But when Candy is thrust into the middle of a murder investigation both Ivy and Jack pull together to protect the man they love.
We re-join the guys at Hidden Gem with a dazzling story that is so much more than the blurb hints at. We are able to catch up with the guys from the previous Hidden Gem books, Shane & Aki and Paris & Rain, and they are woven into the story beautifully, they enhance and give the story an extra development that takes Candy’s, Jack’s and Ivy’s story into a whole new realm.
Candy, Ivy and Jack are just perfect characters, we’ve met them in previous Hidden Gem stories and they shine as their own story unfolds. Candy has hidden scars just like Jack and Ivy, and as we delve into the story we get a glimpse at each man’s hidden pain. We see the vulnerability of each man and we root for them to find their way to each other. But as amazing as their relationship is the storyline is astoundingly fantastic!
OMG! I LOVED THIS STORY! We are pulled into this story as Jack is called in to help investigate the brutal murders of companions, suspicion falls on Candy as a Dom and then holy cow there’s a huge massive twist and a whole new storyline opens up, it’s just fantastic! I’m not even gonna hint at what happens next only to say that Paris and Rain’s problems in Cardinal Sin have just got a whole lot more complicated.
Yep that’s it guys, this is a story that I will recommend wholeheartedly to fantasy lovers everywhere, it’s a true work of art and Lissa Kasey has shown that she is a master of understated smack you in the face twists. She wrote this story in such a way that while I was anticipating a troubling time as Candy and his friends proved his innocence that I couldn’t, not in a million years, even imagine what was coming next. Because she was secretly plotting to shock the hell out of us with a twist so amazing that I was gobsmacked and devastated and eager for more.
I recommend Candy Land to those who love mismatched men finding love, paranormal and fantasy stories that still manage to amaze, a storyline that grips you by the throat and refuses to let go and an ending so good that you hope there will still be more to come.

Review: Yoli is just a kitchen boy who has been trusted with one of the most well-kept secrets in the land. Even knowing the truth his loyalty lies with High Commander Koehen. Although Yoli is only called when it is convenient for Koehen, he can’t help, but dream for more. When Yoli is offered everything he has ever wanted, his loyalty is tested and he is torn between his dreams and his feelings.
This story is great. A story of love, loyalty and limitations. If you were offered the world would you betray the one you love? Yoli is one of a very small number of people who know the High Commander Koehen’s secret and that secret has led to Yoli falling in love with Koehen. But, he knows that he will probably never have more than a few snatched moments in the dark, even though he secretly longs for more. When the enemy can’t break him with torture, the kindness throws Yoli for a loop and Yoli has to think long and hard on what he truly wants.
Oh, poor Yoli. He really goes through the wringer in this story. All he has ever wanted was to be a bard. But, he is stuck in the kitchen with no hope of ever getting out. Coming to the attention of Koehen does nothing but make Yoli dream. During the story this young man is faced with choices that would break a lesser man, and he comes to realisations about what he needs over what he wants.
Koehen is very much a more secondary character, but he never really fades into the background, and he has his own moments of soul-searching after his best friend points out facts to him.
The relationship between Yoli and Koehen isn’t what you would call a true relationship. Even when they sort things out between them, the story is set in a land where it is more than frowned upon. And with Koehen being the High Commander in a time of war, it could also cost them everything.
Yoli is a fantastic character who rapidly grows and develops.He has great insight for one so young and you just root for him. I must admit I found myself wavering alongside him. You get pulled along with Yoli’s hopes and dreams and you feel his disappointments. You understand his loyalty, but you can also understand the temptation he faces. He really is a great character.
I will recommend this to those who love conflicting emotions, a medieval setting, great characters, a touch of loving and a happy for them ending.

Will/Gar has spent the last forty years exacting vengeance on the guilty for the innocents they have killed. His Purpose, Vengeance, demands it as payment for strength, youth and mental powers. Vengeance: an entity that feeds on the souls of the guilty.
When Gar meets Ryan he begins to lose the cold shell he has encased himself in and Will begins to emerge. Emotions and feelings he hasn’t felt in years shock him. So what is it about Ryan that has drawn Will out of his long sleep?
Ryan has been cast out by his family and meets Gar. He’s not quite sure what to make of the man. Getting to know Gar and the real man behind the façade, Will, leads to Ryan discovering something about himself that he finds a hard time getting his head around. Ryan challenges Will to rethink what his Purpose wants.But when the FBI get involved Ryan might be in more danger than ever before.
This is a brilliant, unique, slightly dark, gritty story that you just can’t put down. Will was taken as a host by an entity nearly forty years ago. Since then he has buried himself beneath a cold emotionless façade, Gar, to carry out the vengeance that he has been called to do. When Gar meets Ryan there is something about the young man who calls to him and Will begins to re-emerge.
Ryan is confused by Will, but can’t help falling for the man who saved his life. When he discovers what his Purpose requires, he asks if there is another way to give it what it wants. Things get more complicated when Will tries to discover what it is about Ryan that ease’s him.And then Will discovers he is being tracked by an overzealous FBI agent who will stop at nothing to get Will.
I have to admit to being dragged into this story from the very first page. The opening scenes grip you as it leads you straight into meeting Gar and his Purpose Vengeance. As we progress through the book we can see the changes in Gar/Will as Ryan breaks through his shell. We see Will, a man who buried his emotions to dull the pain of loss, still getting to grips with his Purpose and evolving his relationship with the entity. Finally beginning to understand just what the entity needs and requires.
With Ryan you see a man who still has a long way to go before he is confident and secure. But, also someone who will sulk and act like a brat when he doesn’t get his own way, which causes problems for Will.
The police and FBI angle was really good. And while Will is willing to bargain with Detective Griffin, he wants nothing to do with Agent Barrington. These are aspects of the story you do not want to miss. The characters bring this story alive giving us a darkish, gritty story of vengeance and justice. There are entities from other planes, the innocent demanding vengeance, justice and revenge, the guilty paying for their crimes and two men feeling an instant connection and finding more in common than they thought.
This isn’t a book to miss if you want a unique storyline, great characters, vengeance galore, confusion, love and a brilliant ending.

I chose it because it shows the adversarial relationship between Gabe and Drew, especially how Gabe likes to push Drew’s buttons. It starts here, but it continues and becomes a positively combustible relationship.

Review: This story is part of a series and must be read in order. This storyis the 2nd edition and the story has been re-written slightly, it has gone from 3rd person POV to 1st person POV but other than some minor scene extension the storyline mainly remains the same.
Wow! Ethan Stone you have done it again!! You have brought us yet another incredible suspense/mystery.
We start this one with Gabe in hospital after being nearly killed in an attack that saw Violet brutally murdered. Gabe has to go into hiding with the FBI agent that he blames for the death of Casey (his male lover), Agent Drew Bradley. As these two spend time together their feelings change into attraction. Drew is horrified because even though he has nothing against gays he himself cannot be gay. Gabe is determined to see what can happen between them, while Drew denies the attraction.
I wasn’t sure how I felt at first about Drew going from very straight to being gay but this author handled it brilliantly, you can feel Drew’s confusion and guilt over feeling something for a man especially when he was *taught* (insert *screamed at*) that it is a sin and the struggle as he works through what he is comfortable doing with Gabe.
Gabe is brilliant as he works through his guilt over Violet’s death and his attraction to Drew; he is also an incredible father to Victor balancing what he feels for Drew and what Victor needs. The suspense is thrilling and gripping, just who did attack Gabe and Violet and why? We also see Cristian Flesh and Colby Maddox return, as ghosts from the past emerge and try to destroy both Cristian and Gabe.
If you love brilliant, gripping, suspense, mystery, brainwashing and hot man on man sex this is definitely the book for you. P.S. There’s a fantastic exclusive excerpt from the next book Closing Ranks for us to enjoy!

Review: Charlie moved back to his hometown because he missed the sense of community and his friends, he’s settled in to his home and job at the elementary school with gusto but his love life is sadly lacking, that is until he spots a sexy paramedic across the playground and is immediately attracted to him. Josh loves his job as a paramedic and has a great group of friends, meeting Charlie has his romantic hopes rising but he dreads his brothers reaction to him being gay. Charlie understands but is getting impatient and it isn’t till he is confronted with his own parent’s rejection that he truly understands Josh’s fear, but Josh will do anything for the man he loves to prove that they can be their own family.
This is a great sweet story where two men open their hearts to each other and seek happiness. Charlie has built a good life for himself in his hometown even knowing that his parents want nothing to do with him, now he just longs to meet someone who he can love and build his own family with. Josh is happy with his life even if he wishes that he had someone to share it with, but he never forgets that while his friends and colleagues know he’s gay his brother has no idea. When these two men meet the sparks fly but Josh’s reluctance to confess to his brother is beginning to tear them apart.
Charlie is a really great character who is very easy going and understanding of Josh’s situation, it does begin to wear on him though and it isn’t until he sees his parents again that he understands just what Josh fears he’ll lose. Josh is an incredible character, he is sweet, slightly shy but oh so willing to embrace all around him. When it comes to his brother though he wishes Andrew would lighten up, but he still acts like the big brother who brought him up after their father died and Josh wishes Andrew would see him as the adult he has become.
Josh and Charlie together are beautiful, their relationship moves at a delicious pace, not to fast but not to slow either. Their connection is instant but they still get to know each other, they share their pasts and their fears and fit together perfectly. Oh and they are completely smexingly hot! The storyline is really good, it keeps pace throughout and offers some interesting nuggets and it also gives us a sneak peek at Andrew’s story 😉
I recommend this to those who love great friends, a blossoming love, accepting rejection and embracing acceptance and love, hot sexy man love and a very happy ending.
