Blurb: The most important things in Simon Murray’s life are football, friends, and film—in that order. His friends despair of him ever meeting someone, but despite his loneliness, Simon is cautious about looking for more. Then his best friends drag him to a party, where he barges into a football conversation and ends up defending the honour of star forward Declan Tyler—unaware that the athlete is present. In that first awkward meeting, neither man has any idea they will change each other’s lives forever.

Like his entire family, Simon revels in living in Melbourne, the home of Australian Rules football and Mecca for serious fans. There, players are treated like gods—until they do something to fall out of public favour. This year, the public is taking Declan to task for suffering injuries outside his control, so Simon’s support is a bright spot.

But as Simon and Declan fumble toward a relationship, keeping Declan’s homosexuality a secret from well-meaning friends and an increasingly suspicious media becomes difficult. Nothing can stay hidden forever. Soon Declan will have to choose between the career he loves and the man he wants, and Simon has never been known to make things easy—for himself or for others.

Review: Simon and Roger have been best friends since they were twelve years old. A shared love of football has kept them thicker than thieves ever since, even though they pull for opposing teams. Simon came out to Roger when they were teenagers and he has lived an open life with his friends, family and co-workers since then. It’s never been exactly easy, but it’s who he is and how he feels he has to live his life, regardless. So when he secretly begins dating the hottest footballer on the planet, his best friend is less than thrilled.

From the first time, Declan saw Simon at a house party and Simon was defending his current stretch of bad luck on the field, Declan was smitten. He stole a kiss under the stars and the cover of trees that very night. But the thought of coming out makes Declan sick, he doesn’t know how the media, his adoring fans or his teammates would take to a gay footballer in their midst. But as time grows, Simon grows on him as well, and when a glory hound reporter gets his hands on photos of Simon and Declan kissing, all bets are off! Will Declan take the deal his team owner offers him? To brush it off and say Simon made a pass at him that he rebuffed. Or will he put his career he has worked his life for on the line to come out and be true not only to himself, but to the man he loves as well?

There were a lot of ups and down in this book, and the majority of the time, it seemed down. I did love the differing personalities of the two ML, and the way the secondary characters complemented them within the story. The story flowed well and to spite an overall slowness to the book as a whole, the pace remained steady. I might have skipped ahead a few times if it had been narrated by anyone other than Paul Morey. I would have liked a little more intimacy between Simon and Declan when they had sex, which aspect was always mostly glossed over. And the ending was anticlimactic for me.

All that being said, there was an opposites attract and have a way of bending each other aspect that I liked to the story. It started off well, but lost me somewhere toward the end. I think that someone who really likes football would enjoy this story more than I did. But hey, I got to listen to Paul Morey for fifteen hours! His narration added something to the experience for me that the story itself was lacking in the end.

Review: Isn’t this cover great? I really enjoyed this story. It had been highly recommended to me by a friend so of course I jumped right in. The story is about a young man Beau, from rural Tennessee going off to college and coming out. He joins a group called Rainbow connection, meets Vin the president, and makes plenty of friends in the group. The group is fabulous collection of colourful fun characters, both female and male. I loved Shan. I really liked the fun names in this story if you want to see Beaus full name and Vin’s, grab the book. Vin’s is so much fun.

Ok, now for the story. I loved it. There is lots of action and emotion. I will say I felt it was a bit jumpy and at times I got a bit lost but it was simple to find and I as I got into the story and used to the style it didn’t bother me so much. I can’t wait to see what’s next… it did end with a happy for now but the tease that something is on the horizon.

If you like college men, rich, sexy, generous men, lesbians(no girly bits involved just fun friends) friends to lovers, first crushes, coming out, and a bit of mystery this is for you!

“ The Plumber’s Mate, Book 2″

It hasn’t been all smooth sailing since plumber Tom Paretski and P.I. Phil Morrison became connected at the heart, if not always at Tom’s dodgy hip. Neither of their families has been shy about voicing their disapproval, which hasn’t helped Tom’s uneasy relationship with his prickly older sister, Cherry.

But when Cherry is poisoned at her own engagement party, the horror of her near death has Tom’s head spinning with possible culprits. Is it her fiancé Gregory, a cathedral canon with an unfortunate manner and an alarming taste for taxidermy? Someone from her old writers’ circle, which she left after a row? Or could the attack be connected to her work as a barrister?

Phil is just as desperate to solve the case before someone ends up dead-and he fears it could be Tom. At least one of their suspects has a dark secret to hide, which makes Tom’s sixth sense for finding things like a target painted on his back…

Warning: Contains a strong, silent, macho PI; a cheeky, chirpy, cat-owning plumber; and a gag gift from beyond the grave that’ll put the cat firmly among the pigeons.

Review: A quirky book full of good dry British humor, cheekiness, sarcasm and a plumber with paranormal abilities. Specifically he finds things, hidden things, and while this helps him find leaks fast, it can also get him into trouble fast, as we learned in book one. Book two leaves us off watching the relationship grow between Tom and Phil. Are they meant to be a lasting thing? Is it too soon to swap keys or talk about forever plans? Tom is left to ponder this question as he helps his big sis prepare to take vows of her own, to a very odd and somewhat creepy clergyman. The plot thickens as his sister first gets in touch with Tom to discuss the passing of their dear old Auntie Lol, and the odd request she had given him to go to her old home and find his hidden bequest.

Of course, we know Tom by now, and even though he’s the one for a knack of finding things, trouble seems to want to find him, and his big sis. During an engagement party Cherry is poisoned, trouble is was it intended for him, or her? The odd animal stuffing fiancé, Greg also seems suspicious, even more when he hires Phil to do some work for him, and keep it secret from Cherry.

As if death, murder, and creepy soon to be brother-in-laws weren’t enough excitement, a wayward book club introduces Tom to long-lost family…though I can’t give more away than that!

Will Cherry, Phil, and Tom escape some madman’s murder attempts? Will Tom and Phil get closer, or drift apart? And what the heck does Cherry see in big, tall, and creepy Gregory? So many questions to answer and a long, winding, crazy path of a story to get you there! Merrow’s sense of humor kept me reading, and fingering the murderer was tough, both good qualities in any murder mystery if you ask me! I recommend you grab this series, and read in order, as we see many characters from the past come into the future.

Spencer Miranda and Henry

“Stephanie,” Miranda Thomas offered with one hand on her round belly. The baby kicked her hand and she smiled. She felt the rumble of a chuckle in her husband Henry’s chest as she rested against him on their plush couch. He wrapped his arms around her, resting his hands on top of hers.

“Chloe,” he countered and nuzzled her hair out of the way to place a kiss on her neck. God, she loved him. Even Nell liked him and her sister didn’t like anyone. That could have something to do with Henry’s new thriving counseling practice, but she didn’t think so. Nell never had a thing for money. She, like Miranda, judged people based on who they were, not what they had.

Henry Thomas was a good man, a good husband, and soon, he’d be a good father.

“I don’t hate that one,” she admitted. “Let’s write that one down.”

“I don’t know why we’re picking girls names. He’s a boy.”

“Did you ask the tech when I got dressed?” She laughed. “Or is that a guess? I thought we didn’t want to know.” Miranda twisted a little to capture her husband’s lips in a slow kiss.

“I didn’t ask. I just know.”

“Okay, so what boys names do you like?”

“Anything but Henry Junior. I only escaped being a junior by the grace of God and a different middle name. Let’s allow him to be his own man.”

“I’m good with that. How about Bernard?” She kept her face solemn as he leaned around to peer at her. The horror in his expression brought a giggle to her lips.

“Seriously?”

“No, you said anything but Henry. I just wanted to test that theory.”

He wrapped his arms a little tighter and kissed her cheek with a grin.

“Okay, if he comes out really hairy with a casket around his neck, we’ll totally go with Bernard.” Henry brushed a wayward piece of hair from her face and tucked it behind her ear. She sighed, her heart bursting with love for her husband and unborn child. She had everything she wanted right there on their little couch.

“How about Spencer?”

“Eh, I’m not loving that. What about Brandon?”

“That’s pretty common lately. I think Steve and Donna just named their son Brandon.”

“Albert?”

“Seriously?”

“Yeah, okay, maybe not.” Henry laughed and kissed her behind the ear.

“Do I have to go to work tonight? I want to just sit here on the couch with you.”

“I told you to quit when you got pregnant, honey.” Henry’s voice grew serious. “You don’t have to work at all. I’ll provide for you and the baby.”

“I know. I worked so hard for my degree, though. It seems like a waste when there’s such a shortage of nurses. I didn’t know I’d feel like this.” Miranda rubbed her ever-expanding belly with their joined hands. “Maybe I won’t go back after the baby is born.”

“God, I would love that.”

“I know you would. And now, I just have one more week, Henry. I couldn’t leave with Sharon on vacation. Just one more week, and I’ll be your little wifie, barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen.”

Henry sat up and turned Miranda gently in his arms.

“You know that’s not how I feel, right? I just want you to be safe and happy.”

“Sweetheart, I was teasing. You may have a few interesting personality traits, but being a Neanderthal has never been one of them.”

She giggled as he tickled her until she threatened to pee on his new couch like a puppy.

“Oh!”

“No, no puppies. At least not until the baby is a little older.”

He grinned at her pout but caught her bottom lip between his as he kissed her.

“Okay, go get ready for work before I call them and tell them you’re never coming back. God, you’re really thinking about staying home with our kids?”

“Yeah, I am.”

“I love you, both of you,” he said, resting his hand on hers over their new son or daughter. “I love you so much.”

“I love you too.”

“And I promise, we’ll get a puppy when things calm after the baby. We have time.”

“A whole lifetime,” she promised back.

Award winning romance novelist, J. P. Barnaby has penned over a dozen books including the Working Boys series, the Little Boy Lost series, In the Absence of Monsters, and Aaron. As a bisexual woman, J.P. is a proud member of the GLBT community both online and in her small town on the outskirts of Chicago. A member of Mensa, she is described as brilliant but troubled, sweet but introverted, and talented but deviant. She spends her days writing software and her nights writing erotica, which is, of course, far more interesting. The spare time that she carves out between her career and her novels is spent reading about the concept of love, which, like some of her characters, she has never quite figured out for herself.

Review: The sequel to Aaron’s story comes with Spencer and it continues with a heart breaking story three years after Aaron and Spencer became an official couple. While the first book introduced us to the characters and their circumstances, the second picks up and takes us through the difficult journey both Spencer and Aaron have to take in order to continue to live their lives, not merely as shells bound to their suffering, but as people in control of their lives and demons past, present , and future. Not an easy task, but the author delivers a hell of a story, one that will shatter your illusions, break your heart and reform it as the story evolves.

I can’t say how much I liked this book even as it hurt reading it every step of the way. These characters are magnificent and I’m not referring only to our protagonists, but the entire cast. Each and every one of them is a character with a life-like and realistic portrayal rarely witnessed in books these days. They have a personality that sucks you right in in the story, gripping you and keeping you bound till it ends with no means to escape.

If you thought that Aaron would magically overcome his fears and live a wonderful life from that moment on with Spencer, well you were dead wrong. Life is not that easy and this story manages to capture the very essence of what struggling through nightmares is really about. In addition the tiredness that comes through struggling each and every day overcomes our protagonists, new characters are introduced who become causes for turbulence and jealousy, old characters get older and their new problems add onto the already existing pile, and all this is cause for a hell of an emotional punch throughout the story.

The maturity that comes with time is also amazing to witness. There were times that I came to hate Spencer and even get impatient with Aaron, but no matter what, the way that the story was told made it nearly impossible to judge any one character and point fingers. You just couldn’t figure out how you or anyone in a similar situation would react and thus the story reached the goal of making you think and re-evaluate your beliefs and ideals.

As for the erotic part that was quite lacking in the prequel, I loved how the author approached and finally made it all happen. Honestly I didn’t think she could thus I was really surprised with the end of this fabulous book. The satisfaction I got from this entire read is beyond words and I really don’t know if I want another sequel with these boys, because I feel as if this story is now finally told with the best closure ever.

All in all, this was yet another brilliant title delivered by J.P. Barnaby. Strongly recommended for an intense, emotional ride with a heavy dose of a realistically painted love story.

Review: The second in the Ren Faire Romance series, Archer’s Arrow shines the spotlight on Robyn Lockwood, a man who knows his way around a quiver of arrows, and John Aquitane, a man running from his past, and being caught up in nightmares that still haunt him.

The story follows the two men through a day in the life of a ren fair worker. We get to explore the busy days putting on performances, selling wares and the entire ren experience to boisterous and sometimes badly behaving visitors. Readers also get the behind the scenes activities, of mealtime, fighting for shower time, enjoying meal time, bonfire time and living in a camp atmosphere. The ren faire people expand into one big family, watching out for each other. That is until one vendor voices several problems she has with Robin, from booth complains to homophobic hate spewing from her mouth.

When a group of out of hand customers lets a stray arrow sling over the fence and into John Aquitane’s path, Robin can only be thankful it gave him an introduction to the cute redhead.

John is up front with Robin after he makes his intentions clear, that John is battling old scars, abuse in his past that will make him need to take their new relationship very slow. He’s in doubt that Robin will stay around long and have enough patience to wait. But Robin feels something strong and lasting for John, and any amount of waiting is worth it and the slow pace makes him enjoy all the subtleties of their growing bond.

When someone sabotages Robyn’s bow range, the whole camp comes together to find the culprit, and just when they start to settle whodunit, the man from John’s past makes an appearance. John’s life hangs in the balance when his past abductor and rapist finds him, and Robin feels helpless to save him.

Will this new threat set back Robin and John’s relationship? Will they be able to catch John’s assailant and put the past behind them? Is a future between John and Robin even possible with their pasts and their gypsy lifestyles? You’ll have to grab the book and read to it find the answers to all this drama!

In general, the writing was smooth, the story caught my attention, and the plot was a bit predictable a\but entertaining. The romantic scenes were pretty mild which is understandable given John is the victim of violent sexual assault. The details of each other’s sexual exploration are delicately done but come on…a ten-inch cock, really? I’m fine with 6 or seven if the guy knows how to use it and knows what to do with his mouth and hands!

Blurb: Gabriel Weston’s never wanted to find a mate. He was abused by alpha’s before and wants no part of them now. Unfortunately, when he escapes from his old pack and wakes up injured, he finds that he’s mated to a very large, very powerful alpha wolf, one who has a bad reputation.

Brishen does not want to scare his small mate. The man has been through enough, but he also wants to be close to him, needing to feel the physical touch of his mate to ease his own ache, and to prove that he’s not what the rumors say he is.

After Gabriel discovers he is pregnant with Brishen’s pup, the two begin to make small steps toward trust, but one of the omegas of Gabriel’s former pack is out for revenge, and when he puts Gabriel into harm’s way, Brishen will have to rush to his mate’s side before he loses everything he holds dear.

Review: Once again, Marcy has written another fantastic story. I love the way it just captures my attention and never let’s go. It has such twist and turns, with danger always there and the love of two sexy men protecting each other.

Gabriel is an omega Luna werewolf and has escaped his old pack trying to save the other omegas. Unfortunately, being re-captured and almost dying doesn’t help. He never wanted a mate, always afraid and wishing he was anyone else. However, he finds himself not only saved by a mate, but one who is a very powerful alpha. Brishen is one of four ancient werewolves who has an amazing power. He is strong and capable, but has such a bad reputation of being ruthless and dangerous. Gabriel slowly lets the powerful man into his life and heart, understanding him better than anyone else ever has.

The sex is amazingly hot, sensuous and makes you wish there was an air conditioner around to cool you off. This story makes you wish you were there watching everything that happens and has you rooting for Brishen and Gabriel the whole time. I loved this story and know that it will be cherished and read over and over.

Review: This is a contemporary romantic story set mostly on board of a gay cruise where our protagonists first meet. Bryan has been in a bad relationship for a long time now and his sexual life is completely unsatisfying. After breaking up with his partner and before giving total closure to their joined practice, he decides to join a gay cruise in order to relax and recharge, but mostly to explore and discover his sexuality and his kinky hidden side.

Phil on the other side is tired of the fake side of his sexual life. The subs he plays with at the club he joins are all lacking the sensuality of submission he so much craves. As a service Top, he certainly can deliver any amount of pain, but that’s not what makes his blood boil. In search for something, anything, or simply relaxation with a bit of sex on the side he joins the gay cruise as he’s been doing for years.

Our story picks up pace there, when Phil and Bryan meet and their attraction is instant. They both have what the other is searching for and they hit it off right from the start. However, in my eyes something was lacking. The connection felt weird, at the beginning, it was too business-like and as the couple goes through the motions of flirting, dancing, getting to know each other and yes finally having those intimate scenes it all felt shallow. The telling overlapped everything and the intensity that was supposed to be there was lost, the lust that should slap you in the face and take your breath away was noticeably absent.

All in all the entire attachment that this couple experiences didn’t reach me and the characters themselves failed to make an impression. I didn’t even liked Bryan, he felt too much like taking advantage of an over-giving Phil without giving anything back. As for the BDSM side of the story, I kept expecting fireworks in a clear night-sky, but that never happened. Statements such as:
“Beyond this threshold, you’re mine. You simply have to say no if I do something, you don’t like. Otherwise, I’ll interpret your silence as permission. Understood?”
Were followed by disappointment and all the things I expected from a kinky relationship were not met, they were rather bland and flat and lacking connection.

Overall, it was not a bad read, but it was a drag and I had to bring myself to forcefully finish it in the end. The ending itself was weird as hell. Somehow, the closure was unsatisfying, and that money felt bloody to me, the callousness they talked about investment just turned my stomach upside down considering the circumstances.

Review: the sequel to Aaron’s story comes with Spencer, it continues with a heart-breaking story three years after Aaron, and Spencer became an official couple.

They have a personality that sucks you right in the story, gripping you and keeping you bound until it ends with no means to escape.

Overall, this was yet another brilliant title delivered by J.P. Barnaby. Strongly recommended for an intense, emotional ride with a heavy dose of a realistically painted love story.

Review: This book was amazing if not bizarre. I love the paranormal worlds especially when it involves two very hot and sexy men. Julia has a great ability to write such wonderful stories. The abilities to mix such emotions and feelings between two wonderful men who only want a mate.

Coy is a werewolf and Denver is a vampire pretty unique characters who only want to find love. Although they were not the ones who actually signed up for the paranormal dating service, they did find true love. They have their strengths and weaknesses that complement each other. Coy is a cowboy who originally thinks vampires are stiff and uppity with attitudes. However they are both shocked when they realize they definitely have the hots for each other and it goes even further for they are falling for each other fast.

I hope there is more to this story. It would make for a great series, although I wished that it were longer in length with more description and action. It was pretty hot but I want to know more about where each other come from, how they got to where they are, now and where they want to head. It does make for a quick read with bits of humor throughout. I did like the story.

Review: Wow, this book is something else. It was amazing how they made the whole book flow just perfect. It had the right amount of danger, excitement, and adventure. The way they can make the whole story magical.

Angel was a NFL star quarterback who had been injured during one game made his home in Angel Falls. He was genuine, gentle, kind and sort of a recluse. He finds an injured man who had wings and decides to bring him home. Klintic is a fae warrior prince that got betrayed by his father and kicked out of his realm. He is strong and powerful with lots of magical gifts. He has met his mate in this human who has done everything to help him. The sex is out of this world all hot and sensuous. You can’t help but fall for these two men.

I admit this book made me wonder about all sorts of things, but I absolutely loved it. It is divided into two stories so you have to read the next book to get the full amount of laughter and fun. I laughed so hard that I wasn’t really sure I would stop. It showed what happens when people get betrayed by those claiming they loved them. It shows the abilities to overcome all their hardships and pain, and then turn them into passion and fire. I loved this story and will definitely be checking out the rest of Stephanie’s books. I recommend reading this.

Review: This is the first book in the Cattle Valley series, and it would be best when read in sequence.

Population 2,823 Welcome to Cattle Valley, an alternative, private community where your sexual preference isn’t an issue, it’s the size of your heart that counts. The city of Cattle Valley was founded by millionaire Charles Beauregard on behalf of his only son and heir, Joshua Beauregard. The victim of a hate-crime, Joshua was murdered on April 13, 1972 in San Francisco, California. After the murder of his son, Charles began making plans to use his wealth and land to insure a safe haven for gays and their families to live in peace. Charles spent the remainder of his life working and seeing that his vision came to fruition.

Now, twenty-three years after its dedication, Cattle Valley, Wyoming is a thriving small town. Drop by for a visit, and say hello to our sheriff, Ryan Blackfeather and his two partners, Nate Gills and Rio Adega. After their partner had taken the sheriff job, Nate and Rio were going to join him finally.

Nate was a four hundred-dollar shoes and fancy sport convertible type car guy. He was also the most sweetest person ever. Always willing to help anyone that needs a hand. At one time Nate had feelings for Rio and Ryan but figured since those two were already in a committed relationship they wouldn’t want him. He had found himself at a club surrounded by men, when one had spiked his drink. Rio and Ryan had showed up and saved his butt from getting raped. They have been together since.

Nate was told that him and Rio needed warmer clothes and they had went into this store, which Nate figured definitely didn’t have anything he would possibly want to wear. Boy was he surprised when they had cashmere sweaters and the guy who owned it was just as sweet and cute as can be. He was also in trouble from the bruise Nate had seen. Deciding he had to find out what he could about the man who was hurting his new friend, he decided to use his investigative skills.

The problem with that is Ryan and Rio had to help him, even if they had to hide while watching the man they loved. It had not been easy when they lived in Texas, what with them being three men in a relationship. Too many people frowned down on them so when Ryan had been offered the sheriff’s job he took it. Rio however didn’t really know what to do considering he usually went on long distance jobs keeping people safe. However, he would do anything and everything to keep Nate happy. They would also do everything in the power to keep Nate safe. Which was funny because Nate was a black belt in four different martial arts, but he was little in size, which made his bear of men cuddle him more?

I had come across this series by accident while shopping for one of my favorite authors. When I realized the book I had wanted was in the twenties, I knew I wanted to start with the first book in the series so that I could get to know each and every character there is in it. I am very pleased with it, because this book was an absolute pleasure to read. I loved the way Nate was and how the fact that each of his men loved him so very much that they would give up a lot of things to make him happy and keep him safe.

I also loved the way that Ryan and Rio were loved back. They have the perfect three some relationship, and everyone knows how hard it is to keep that type of relationship together. Usually there is a lot of jealousy among at least one of the partners, however in this story there is none of that. The only time I saw Nate mad was when he found out that Ryan and Rio followed him to keep him safe. I loved it, that they can show their feelings so open and out. I also loved that Cattle Valley had a place that was a safe haven for men and women in difficult relationships that they would usually get hurt either physically or verbally.

This is one of the best series I have read in quite a while. If you love three sexy men, hot loving, tender feelings, dangers coming from someone unexpected, beautiful people, then you will love this wonderful book. I cannot wait to get started reading book two. I would recommend reading this series. You won’t be disappointed.

Blurb: It’s hard enough being an inn manager, serving at everyone’s beck and call, making sure all the guests are happy and the employees are paid on time. Add to that being a werewolf, a recovering alcoholic, and a pack leader. Add to that a brother who is trying to tear the pack apart and a dark past he can’t escape. Needless to say, Carl is under a lot of stress. Not helping: Justin, the inn’s human massage therapist—who Carl is trying not to fall for—has offered Carl a massage to “lower his stress levels.” As his boss, Carl can’t tell Justin his hands might lower stress levels, but they would raise something else.

Despite Carl trying to put him off, Justin won’t give in. Carl’s friends won’t leave him alone, and the divisions in the pack are near exploding. And it’s tourist season. The last thing Carl needs are wolf wars in the lobby. Like it or not, Carl is going to have to rely on Justin and the wolves who love him to teach him how to let go and get through everything without falling apart.

Purchase Link: http://www.dreamspinnerpress.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=4771

Review: This story is part of a series and while this story can be read as a standalone, it is best read after Denying Yourself. Carl is juggling managing the inn, leading a pack, dealing with his brother’s animosity, dealing with the pressure is beginning to get to him, and finding himself attracted to a human is the last thing he expected. Justin is laid back and he can do wonders for stress with his massages but trying to convince Carl to let go isn’t easy. When Carl begins to let Justin in Justin does his best to prove he can handle the wolf but unless Carl can relax his responsibilities and accept the support that is offered, it just might drive them apart.

This is a great story that follows on from Denying Yourself really well, this time we join Carl as he juggles with the stresses of handling everything himself and the emotional turmoil of dealing with his brother Egan. Carl really does take his positions seriously, as inn manager and pack leader he believes the success or failure is firmly on his shoulders and as his relationship with his brother deteriorates, further he takes that failure to heart. Carl fights his attraction to Justin for two reasons, one because he is human, and two because Justin is only with them for a few months but Carl doesn’t take into account what Justin wants until he can no longer resist the teasing looks and words.

I really enjoyed this story, which shows us the pressure that a born leader is under, we learn a great deal about Carl and his background so we understand the dynamics between the brothers. Justin’s appearance in Carl’s life comes at a time when he really needs it, even if Carl doesn’t realize it at the time, Justin is the easy-going relaxing presence that Carl really needs. Their relationship is hot, very growly and just a touch rough, but it isn’t a sure thing as Carl needs to learn to balance his life. While I would love to tell you more about Justin we just don’t get to know him that well, other than he is a vegetarian, easy-going and a great massage therapist we just don’t learn that much about him… oh other than he loves rough outdoor sex.

This story is really well written with the conflict and tension leaping off the page, I actually felt my own neck and shoulders tightening up as Carl dealt with the mounting pressure. As you can guess, the story is all from Carl’s point of view and while I loved, being able to sink into his life it would have been nice to also see it from Justin’s eyes. While there isn’t the angst and heartbreak that Denying Yourself has there is a lot of anguish, anger and feelings of inadequacy which all comes to a head and has Carl fighting the seductive appeal of drinking his woes into oblivion. I actually found that scene to be one of the best I have ever read, the temptation to sink into the bottom of the bottle, the shame and disgust of nearly giving in and the relief of having friends who care even when you try to drive them away. I can’t wait for Egan and Alex’s story because that pairing has history and pain that will make for an excellent story.

I recommend this to those who love a different kind of shifter story, hot sex and romance, admitting you need support, sharing responsibilities, grabbing hold of love and a great ending.

Blurb: Nathaniel doesn’t want to go Castle Archangel: he’s half-human and can’t fly like the rest of his clan. Even worse, he likes guys and he’s not exactly white. That makes him an interspecies outcast, but he wants to please his dad. Once there, he meets Zeke, the angels’ sexy weapons master. Sadly, Zeke is straight and Nathaniel doesn’t hit on men he can’t have.

When Zeke meets Nathaniel, his gut tells him he’s met his mate, but he’s never been attracted to a guy before. Despite Nathaniel’s wariness and his own fear, Zeke can’t help claiming him when instinct takes over.

Unfortunately, Nathaniel isn’t ready to bond, not even when their connection sparks dormant angelic powers. However, when Zeke flies into danger, Nathaniel follows. Demons stalk their people and it will take every angel who can wield a blade to fight the evil that lurks in unexpected places.

Review: Short, Sexy and {wait for it….} Steamy!

Nathaniel is half human and half angel shifter. He has no wings, no marks and he is openly gay. He has lived his life as an outcast among his people, but his father loves and believes in him completely, and Nathaniel would do anything for him. He longs to feel the marks of the divine on his skin, the air surrounding him as he flies and the love of a man. He has come to accept these are things he will never have in his life.

Zeke is an angel shifter and weapons master called to Castle Archangel for his skill in weaponry. From the start, he feels a strange connection to the young man with skin the color of tea. Zeke has always been straight, and though he’s confused by the attraction to Nathaniel at first, he recognizes the mate bond and claims the hybrid. Their bond brings out that which has been trapped inside Nathaniel for the whole of his life, and he finally shows his marks and grows his wings.

Nathanial fights the bond itself for weeks as his relationship with Zeke continues to grow and the two go at it like rabbits instead of angels! When a trusted friend turns out to be a demon in disguise and not only is Zeke, but all the angels’ lives put in danger, Nathaniel finds the strength within to soar. But will he finally bond with Zeke? Or will these two angels go crazy from a mate bond not fulfilled due to fear?

Leaf has created such a unique series with the Angel shifters of Castle Archangel. Each angel has a story, a gift and a purpose. And even though they are angels, the supposed perfect beings, they have a flawed reality to their souls that make them almost human. I’m anxious to see where Leaf goes with the next book in this series.

I definitely recommend this series, and though this book could be read alone, it might be better to read the books in order. A must read for fans of shifter romance, paranormal romance and soul mate stories.

Blurb: Delaney Smith, coyote shifter and Trickster Technologies executive, thinks humans are bland, boring, and undateable. So he gets the shock of his life when he comes back from vacation and scents his mate in the Trickster offices — a mate who is not only male, but quite human.

Mark Fellowes is taken aback when the CTO at his new contract job makes a pass at him, and even more surprised at his temptation to respond. Straight and dating a career-minded businesswoman, he’s never even thought about kissing another man — until now.

Review: When Delaney Smith returns to work from his vacation, he’s a little surprised to sense his mate in the building. Being a Coyote Shifter, he knows the importance of the mate bond, so when his mate turns out to be a male, he’s not really too surprised. But his straight mate who happens to have a girlfriend is shocked when Delaney makes a pass at him.

Mark Fellowes is loving his new contract job, until the boss comes across his desk and tries to kiss him. He is shocked and upset, at first, until he stops to think about his bodies reaction to the man. Trying to clear his mind, he goes for a run, only to return to some rather unsavoury characters in his apartment.

Delaney is there to protect Mark, and his plan to take things slow with Mark are thrown out the window. He is forced to share his secret with Mark as well as the fact they are mates, and hope that he doesn’t push the shy human over the edge of sanity.

I’ve never read a story about Coyote shifters and I quite liked the uniqueness it brought to this story. Shifter mates and insta-love are being stretched thin, but Delaney and Mark were just so smexy, that I was able to overlook the redundancy of the subject matter. Then there was a little twist at the end that I didn’t see coming, and I do like it when an author can surprise me.

This is a must read for fans of gay shifters and protective alpha male types, very sexy. I hope it’s the start to a series.

Review: Hart Vanter spends his days working for his dad, and his nights bedding random woman in the hopes that no one will figure out his secret. He seems to have everyone fooled, including himself, but the facade is beginning to crack. When Josh Lang replaces his current bodyguard who got a promotion, the facade crumbles.

Josh is everything that Hart isn’t. Sexy, openly gay and self-assured. He sees something in Hart that he recognizes, a mutual attraction. Hart fights the attraction for about five minutes, then concedes to the urges and feelings he’s fought to keep hidden all his life. Josh proceeds to show Hart exactly what he’s been missing by denying himself all these years.

The storyline was predictable and there were some aspects to Hart and his inner conflict that should have been explored in a bit more detail. But overall, it was a fast, fun read with a lovely bedroom scene that made my lunch hour fly by!

Blurb: When the lines between nightmares and reality become blurred, it’s time to wake up and put an end to life’s horrors.

When Ben reveals yet more of his secrets, including a piquant part of his past and the last vital element in the plan to put an end to their enemy’s evil deeds, Colin is determined to see this plan through—whatever it takes. He surrenders to vampire Dom Ben’s special brand of training technique and finds some solace in the fact that a ménage à trois with a vampire is a very satisfying arrangement for an incubus demon.

Fuelled by his lovers’ highly potent emotions, Colin’s demon side is stronger than ever mentally, but his weakness lies in his heart. He struggles to accept the truths he can no longer deny and the time has come for him to reconsider what he knows about the people he thought he could trust—and those he thought he couldn’t.

As the last pieces of the puzzle fall into place and people reveal their true colours, Colin realises that some horrors linger even after he has woken from the nightmare.

Review: Reader Advisory: This is the last book in a series with an ongoing story arc. It is recommended to read the series in order of release. This book contains the use of unusual sex toys, and hot ménage scenes.

This is the last book in this series, but there is opening left for something else later. I will definitely be on-board for whatever is next. This whole series is very good but I think I will say this is my favourite in the series.

I have to say I found this to be a perfect and very satisfactory ending.  Wow!! What a shocking twist in here and I have to say I never saw that coming! Actually, I was in for two surprises.

This series has a lot of sex and very explicit at that. As I have mentioned before though, in this book it didn’t bother me since the sex is crucial to the storyline, being Colin is an Incubus and feeds on sex. This book has even more sex than the others do do; pretty much jam packed beginning to end. I have to applaud Sage Marlowe on her skill at putting in so much sex, keeping it tasteful, and interesting. I actually leaned a few new things in this book!

There weren’t any new characters, except Raven and he was introduced in the last book. I found him intriguing and would have liked more. Hopefully, if there is a new series he will be in it. It is amazing how after six books the characters still evolved and grew. I absolutely loved this book, which is why Sage Marlowe is one of my favourite writers.

I highly recommend this if you like a good vampire/ demon series, BDSM, ménage, sex-toys, bondage, D/s, erotica, shocking twists and explosive series finales! I will miss you Colin!

Blurb: He lost his heart once. Is it too damaged for love to find it again?

In the five years since the love of his life abandoned him at the altar, Jake Morgan hasn’t left his house. The locals in this small, English town have dubbed him “Mr. Havisham”, but he’s too preoccupied wrestling his demons to care about Dickensian comparisons.

Forced to admit he’s losing the battle to keep up his large estate alone, he reluctantly places an advert for help. The striking young man who answers his call shakes him to the core.

When Darius answers the ad for the position at the mysterious mansion, the bitter, lonely master of the house tugs at his heartstrings. Setting aside his own run of bad luck, Darius batters at Jake’s emotional walls with kindness and determination that defy all attempts to drive him away.

Just as tendrils of new love begin to intertwine, though, a terrible voice from the past intrudes. And threatens to drive Jake back into the shadows where Darius can never reach him.

Review: Against reason is a story about a man who is very broken and another that is going through a lot of personal issues, such as finding a job to make ends meet and keeping a roof over his head.

I am going to start by talking about characters.  Jake had been left at the altar five years ago and was still reeling from it.  He is very heartbroken, the town talks about him and calls him Mr. Havisham (from Great expectations), and he has suffered physically and emotionally for the tragedy. Aside from the jilting, he is also a recluse, and has a severe case of OCD.  I liked Jake since i do relate. Some people that aren’t experienced with OCD may not understand some of the references to numbers, and the need to keep his personal space.

There were things I didn’t like about Jake, such as he sometimes bordered on being plain mean and cruel to Darius in my opinion.

Darius, I would have liked a little more information such as why he was having such employment issues, why he was fired, since he seemed to be a very hard worker and easy to please.  Marc… I won’t even go there… Nope didn’t like him but I am sure we aren’t supposed to.

I actually liked the storyline, but I have a thing about broken main-characters, especially if they can overcome whatever broke them.   I like a lot of angst and there is tons of it in this story.

One of my favourite things was the dining room. This was a big shocker and I won’t tell you what was there, but I liked the description, I found it slightly macabre and felt it really emphasized the pain Jake was suffering from.

I am not sure a wedding cake  left out would even be standing in five years, but I myself let the reality go  from that and liked the effect it served. After all this is fiction. I also would have liked to know where Jake go his money, had such a huge house and grounds and why he didn’t have to work

If you like, a good romance full of angst, dark, sad stories, broken men and some relatively hot mansex this is for you!

Blurb: Sequel to Vivaldi in the Dark

Three years after that first meeting in a theatre storeroom, Jayden Phillips and Darren Peace are separating for the first time, trading in school for the trappings of adult life. Jayden has achieved his dream of a place at Cambridge University; Darren has achieved his own of escaping the Cold War of home and tasting true independence for the first time.

A hundred miles apart and embarking on two very different paths, Jayden feels it is inevitable that time and distance will slowly pull them apart. School relationships, after all, don’t last. Darren disagrees — at first. Love is all they need, and they have weathered harder storms than chasing dreams.

That is until the separation, and the encroaching influence of Jayden’s new friends, begins to take its toll on Darren’s mental state. Alone, he descends in a rapid downward spiral that is finally arrested by one night and a drastic course of action. In the wake of a single unanswered phone call, Jayden learns that time and distance have the power to do much more than break a relationship.

The dream is over — and the reality is far, far worse.

Review: Jayden and Darren are back, this time facing new hurdles to their growing relationship and maturing lives. This story would be about the usual young love, tested by time and distance, which the odds are stacked against, but add to that one partner suffering from depression and you have even more trouble. Both fight an inner conflict about the distance college and job training are now putting between them as Jayden goes off to his dream of studying at Cambridge and Darren moves farther south to train as a crime scene investigator with the police force. They both know the odds, both Jayden and Darren struggle inwardly about whether or not it would just be better to break up now, instead of a slow drift apart. Even new friends suggest that high school love doesn’t last beyond college. But Darrin is determined to make it work, and Jayden is in love and can’t fold either. The pressure of new friends and the crazy workload at Cambridge are wearing Jayden down. He feels pressured to fit in with his snobby new friends and feels the distance between him and Darren grows each painful day.

Darren feels his depression creeping in, even the on the job training demands can’t keep him distracted, he’s starting to feel numb, even to the pain of Jayden drifting away. This story seems darker than Vivaldi in the Dark does, at least for me it brought me down to some very emotional lows. I held very little hope for the young couple, and became frustrated with the lack of coping mechanisms Darren had, not to mention how spineless Jayden became without him.

Parts of the story seemed to slow down and get drawn out, become …well….depressing. Which is kinda what the books is all about. Unfortunately, the main characters don’t pull their heads out of their bums in time to avoid a very tragic incident. Don’t worry though, the ending will satisfy you…but I think there’s more in store for our maturing couple.

This was yet another very well written story, very smooth, and the transitions in POV were clear. The sexual content is appropriate for YA readers, it’s intimate, but it’s vague. I felt the distance between Jayden and Darrin, and I felt the frustration too, the writing was most successful at that. I’m glad that in the end, Darren and Jayden didn’t just learn to cope with Darren’s depression. They took steps to learn to treat it. Empowering and encouraging!

Review: This is book two in this series and they should be read in order. It is the funniest story I have read in a while and it isn’t just because the sons of the High Ruler and Royal Consort can get pregnant. Ok most of it was because of that but there are some parts of this story that will have you falling in the floor laughing. It does have parts though that can make you cry from the tenderness and pain that you feel when you learn what this young prince went through.

Twenty-five years ago, four newborns were kidnapped from their fathers. Fathers who happened to be the High Ruler of the Lycans and his mate the Royal Consort. Their warriors had spent that whole time looking for the children although now they are young men. Theone had been hidden in a pleasure dome, mistreated and hurt he reaches out in dreams. He connects with Kellan and begs for his help. He is injured, blind, and scared out of his mind. With the help of two twins Ty and Ky, he gets a message to Kellan.

Kellan feels something for Theone but doesn’t realize he is his mate until he bites him. Talk about some interesting times waiting for them. Kellan is a cat shifter and after starting the bond ceremony he has twenty-four hours to mate him or he will mate him even without permission. With the twins help he has a little over an hour and half to find his mate, get him to the twins safely, heal his injuries, get the tracking device out of him and get him off the world they were on. The only problem is someone blew up his ship and a couple more explosions, but they have help with it all.

God I love this series, it has the best characters I have read about and the coolest story line. I love the way she makes the worlds all so fascinating. It all comes off so believable. It is amazing the way that Kellan and Theone mix together. You can sense the love between them and there is the hint of kink going on. I loved the ending to this story. It was so sweet and tender that it will make you cry a little with happiness.

I would recommend this story to anyone who loves futuristic themes, shapeshifters, the paranormal worlds, romance, hot and sexy men, danger, and excitement. Not to mention the sex is out of this world. I love the twist and turns this story has and I cannot wait to read the next book in this amazing series.
