Blurb: After the death of his longtime partner, American attorney Dan Evans is reassigned to his firm’s London office. It’s a change his life sorely needs. While admiring roses in a small village in the Cotswolds, Dan meets Martin Saint John. Martin, still fit and attractive at seventy, has also lost his partner, and now spends his time growing roses, meeting friends in the pub, and going to church on Sundays, content with his quiet life.

Roses and tea progress to spending weekends together exploring the countryside, but the differences between Dan and Martin go beyond the fifteen year age gap. If they can open their hearts and accept love—instead of accepting its absence—they might find a second chance at happiness.

All because of roses.

Review: Just because you are over 50 doesn’t mean you still want love. Dan decides to take the move his office offers him to London. He needs the change after the loss of his life-partner. There are too many reminders at home for him to move on.

He decides to find a house outside of London. He finds a very cute cottage and the neighbor across the street with a beautiful rose garden is a plus.

This was a beautifully written book about much older men. Martin is 70 and Dan 15 years younger. I adored the sweetness of the story how the two built a friendship. I loved the trips to stores and the slight differences between the men.

If you are looking for a sweet romance with older men, love antiques, thrift shops and roses, this is definitely for you.

Review: Note: This series is a companion series to the Called to Mate series by Lynn Tyler. While you can read this book without having read the others, there is a storyline for both men in the Called to Mate series that might be important to read.

Jake Trenton is hiding a secret that is far more volatile than the love he harbors for his best friend. Hiding ones true nature is enough to drive anyone insane, but Jake has to hide his feelings for Pierce as well. Add to that what his father did to the Smooth Rock Falls pack and Jake finds himself searching for anywhere else to be besides the Falls.

Tristan Massey never wanted to be Alpha, but when his Alpha loses focus on what’s best for the pack, Tristan has no choice but to challenge him and step up. He makes the trip to the Falls to try to find an Omega for his pack, what he finds is tiger shifter looking for a way out. Tristan offers Jake sanctuary within his pack and as much as it pains Jake to leave Pierce, he knows he has to cut that string and move on.

The attraction is immediate, but both men tamp it down. Jake fears anyone in his new pack learning his true nature so he doesn’t share it with anyone, not even Tristan. And Tristan refused to act on the attraction feeling that his pack won’t accept a gay Alpha.

When they finally succumb to the attraction Tristan’s wolf does what he has wanted to do since the day they laid eyes on Jake, he claims what is theirs. But Tristan still refuses to admit their mating out loud, actually denying it when asked point blank, and in doing so he drives Jake right back to the Falls.

Called to Mate has always been one of my favorite shifter series and this new spin off promises to be just as good, if not better, than the first. My heart broke for Jake when he was first introduced into the series, how he tried to overcome the wrongs of his father. And now we have Tristan who has to learn that appearance isn’t everything, while he thinks telling his pack he is gay and showing them he loves Jake will make him look weak. He has to learn the love they share will only make them stronger.

As usual, Tyler has this way of showing the vulnerability in characters and then allowing them to grow through love and understanding with her writing. I was drawn into the story from the start and it never lost my attention. The flow was steady, the characters were three-dimensional and the storyline was strong.

Tristan is strong and passionate even though he’s pigheaded at times as well. Jake is soft and sensual and it’s his level headedness that balances the pack. Now the two of them as a couple have to find their balance.

Definitely a must read for fans of Tyler’s former series as well as anyone that likes shifter stories, strong Alpha male romance and rocky road that leads to the perfect Happy Ever After.

Review: This is an interesting book. I’ve read and enjoyed Jade Astor’s book in past and this one, The House on the Cliff, is no exception.

I’m going to keep this short so as not to give too much away, but I will start with the most obvious point to make: this story may be set in Maine but it reminds me strongly of the traditional English Gothic horror (though this is not a horror) or mystery books. It has all the important hall marks of the genre and may remind readers of a number of historical classics.

We start with an ordinary unemployed man (the poor/impoverished person), a creepy house (the Cliff House), a cold and windswept setting, a mysterious boss, a few shady characters, an apparently crazy person, a past murder and a mystery to solve.

The story follows Noah, who is unemployed and desperate for a job. Pure luck in deciding to pull over to be a Good Samaritan sealed his luck and got him a job and lodging, allowing him to move out of home. However, things aren’t as straight forward when he is hired by Lloyd Petersen, not only to work as a mechanic but also be driver and minder for his psychologically damaged son, Tristan.

With strange psychiatrists with shady morals and almost every other character being shady, Noah realises that there is more to Tristan and life at the Cliff House than meets the eye.

I’m going to give the book two criticisms, though. One, occasionally I felt like the story dragged a bit. Secondly, a number of the characters were rather underdeveloped. For example, Tristan’s friends Ryder and Sophia, they both seemed to just be there it seemed that they had no real purpose for a majority of the story. In addition, for the most part, other than Noah, none of the characters really grabbed me.

Mind you, I was watching Jane Eyre (BBC, 2006) at the same time I was reading and the parallel between Noah and Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre was oddly striking minus the poor orphan angle.

Elder Petersen’s Mission Memories

by

Jeff Laver

Steve Petersen has been hoping his homosexual feelings are “just a phase.” But as a nineteen-year-old embarking on a two-year Mormon mission in South America, he realizes those feelings are still there, and he’s attracted to another missionary—the companion he’s been assigned to be with 24 hours a day.

Set primarily in 1972, less than three years after Stonewall, these missionaries have been taught by their church that homosexuality is an abomination, and those who “suffer” from those “tendencies” must repent. Worse, with God’s help, fervent prayer, and mind over matter, they can become heterosexuals. Steve’s conflict is real and heart-wrenching; he’s an official representative of his church, but he’s falling in love with his companion. Can he reconcile his church doctrine and the feelings of his heart?

Review: Each book in the Space Warrior’s collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Caleb has one little problem, he can’t read people like he should. It was the one reason that he was not being promoted. However now was not the time to think about it, he was sent in to figure out why people missing. What he had not expected was to find a cute little thief whose butt was in trouble. The guy always seemed to be in trouble, but now the cutie came with two little trouble makers.

Laird had watched a man kill his father and found out that it was for drugs. Then all he did was run instead of help. The thing was he had only been twelve. He always ran from danger. That is until he found himself with Ren and Key. He would do everything to protect them. They were special and the markings on their skin showed cat shifter.

Now he had this gorgeous warrior saying that he was his mate and that it was his job to protect him. Didn’t the man know he could protect himself? Obviously not, cause the man figured out how to read him. Damn he couldn’t get away with anything now. He did come to the conclusion that he wanted Caleb just as much as Caleb wanted him.

The characters are beautifully written with big hearts, however if you cross them, they have no problem putting you down. They will protect their love ones with their entire lives. I love the paranormal tone and the little bit of twists that come with it.

I can’t wait to read the next story. When Sydney puts out a book I am usually there to eat them up. Trust me it will keep you laughing, crying, loving and having fun.

Review: This is the fifth book in Havoc’s Crew series. Kelas is a half-blood dragon who gets caught by the brother of the man whose son he kidnapped. Tor is a wizard who works with Havoc’s Crew. This book is about the two of them and there is no action or fight scenes in it.

Though I did enjoy the story I was disappointed as well. I was expecting a problem to come up and Havoc’s Crew to take care of it. But that’s not what happens. Instead Kelas is taken prisoner by Tor only to learn they both have the same dark tastes and are mates.

Review: Very interesting read. What I loved the most is how Jasek danced to his own tune instead of following normal traditions as the way it usually went. Jasek reminded me of someone who is strong, sure and determined and never lets someone tell him what he should do. He also seems fair and reasonable when the need arises.

Tarrin seemed very much to love Jasek and stood by him no matter what he decided. A strong and loving bond to be sure. I loved how these two so completely complemented the other throughout the book. Great story with some hot sex that added spice to the story.

Highly recommended.

Being able to explain it in a way people could actually understand without his nerves getting the better of a geek like him is the challenging part. At least he’s got outlets for those times, like riding his tricked-out ATV at breakneck speeds.

When they meet up again and Clayton hears Garnet’s voice, things get complicated and exciting fast and there’s not a very good way to let Garnet in on the change in their status.

Review: Each book in the Hounds of Hell collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Garnet is one special man and was saved by the hellhounds and angels. He loved to be a bit feisty and drives fast. When he was given an ATV, he had of course had to trick it out. Make it go faster and he never did follow the straight road. He had been told many times that he was going to break his damn neck. While out he came across a hell-hound pounding another. Turned the hell on, he was shocked when the hound found him out.

Clayton has taken to the sexy little man he has found in the woods, but then was shocked when he found out that Garnet is his mate. His litter follows the old rules, when one takes a mate they all get to play with him. What he never understands was why his mate was not going for it. Clayton really needs his ass kicked.

There is something about the way that Flynn tells a story that will not only draw you in and keep your attention the whole time, but it will more than likely have you laughing your ass off at parts of it. The characters are beautifully written with big hearts, however if you cross them, they have no problem putting you down. They will protect their love ones with their entire lives.

I love the paranormal tone and the little bit of twists that come with it. I had never really thought about a story that not only has angels in it but hellhounds also. When one thinks hellhound, they think evil and death. Now granted they were originally from hell and they can kill who they think need to die, these guys are different. Now even though there is a bit of angst with each character, which at times can drive a reader nuts, there is very little danger. This one is a bit different as is Garnet being in trouble but no outside danger.

Other than that I had a blast reading this story. It caught my attention from the moment I started reading and kept it all the way to the end. It also gave me everything I could want in a book.

Review: This book two in the Quads of the Alpha S series. One of the things I love most about this series so far is you learn why each human was working where they ended up. Tripp seemed lost and alone. He’s captured by the Xinthpats while on a mission gone terribly wrong and turned.

Orinth, Gregan and Tevos were Quintos who were turned as well by the vicious Xinthpats and want Tripp as their own if he is able to survive the turning. Though I understood their reasoning it bothered me somewhat that they wanted to break Tripp in order for him not to succumb to the memories of his time with the Xinthpats like so many other aliens had done and not been able to cope and ended up killing themselves as a result.

This book grabs your attention from the start and keeps it until the very end. Intense scenes and emotions as well as some hot sex keep the reader entertained. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Loved it.

Review: This is the first book of Jenny’s that I have read and I was impressed with parts of it. However overall, the story lacked something to pull the whole story together. It was most difficult to get into completely, or follow what is happening. It has a lot of mystical aspect put into it that was hard to figure out.

I think it will make a good story but to do so it would have to be redone with some stuff added in that will give you an idea of who is who and what they are doing. It went from one person going on a hunt, then the next it goes to the other guy. However it was missing the connection that makes it easier to see that.

Tucker has waited some time to find his mate, but he knew he needed to look. So he goes in search and finds the man made for him. Malcolm however finds a wolf, gets bitten and ends up in a strange place that involves an owl. That owl sure does get some bad reactions out of the residents. There is some hot sex between them, but overall this book needs some serious redoing.

When I choose it to read, I had taken one look at the blurb and thought it sounded good. It comes off fast paced, like the writer was rushed. It goes from Tucker going to search for his mate, to Malcolm getting bitten and then farther on. It was not my idea of a story that I would want to read again. I was quite disappointed in it.

When I first started reading, it sounded reasonably good but then it lost my attention to fast. I will wait for book two to see if they do get better. Otherwise I am not sure if this series is for me.

Review: His Majesty, King Ferdinand Augustus Maxos III, and his six four Knaves, Jayde, Sol, Raven, Ingigo, Shimmer, and Ochre all dragon shifters, escape after a ruthless enemy takes everything from Max to another world to regroup and strategize their next move to take back what rightfully belongs to Max. Max, even though he is saddened by the traitor, he was still strong and sure, I liked that.

I truly loved this wonderfully written story. The details of Agion were simply breathtaking. The creatures described there were exotic and immense compared to the others.

I loved how Alpha Myre, a gigantic feline shifter, welcomed them in his clan despite the danger to his people. Thyrus, the man who is the reason for Max’s lose, I can’t stand. He seems power-hungry, bloodthirsty, sadistic and will stop at nothing to gain what he wants even murder.

Fascinating with a lot of hot sex between Max and his dragon Knaves along with an awesome plot and battles made this story a fantastic read that keeps the reader’s attention from start to finish with the right amount of danger, suspense and love.

Absolutely loved it and highly recommend it…

Ferdie is a gremlin, mechanically inclined by nature, but someone has cursed the poor guy so that every time he tries to tinker, everything he touches falls apart. This, in and of itself, is pure torture for a gremlin. It doesn’t help that his ex-boyfriend is a tool that is trying his damnedest to get Ferdie to forgive him and take him back. And then he finds himself insanely attracted and drawn to the shifter that was sent to break his curse.

This was just a fast, fun read. Megan Derr and Paul Morey have become somewhat of an unstoppable team in the MM romance audio book department. She writes these intricate stories, usually shifter and/or magic oriented, and Morey tells those stories with flawless narration. His voice is like honey dripping off the vine. It’s mesmerizing, sexy and fluent.

While I enjoyed this audio, I did have one issue with the storyline. At least a dozen times, if not more, in less than three hours; Brayton talked about wanting to bang his itty bitty. I don’t think the man went more than fifteen minutes without talking or thinking about it. But they never do.

There is one two-minute scene at the very end where a couple heated blow jobs are exchanged, but that’s it. I felt cheated in that aspect. But aside from that, it was an awesome story and I can’t wait to hear more from the town of Midsummer.

Review: This is the fifth book in the Outlaw MC5 series. A wonderful addition. I loved Torrin’s character and how he changed. Mayhem showed him the light and made him realize just how messed up and horribly outdated the government was on mars. I was so cheering for the MC’s all throughout.

Intense book with suspenseful scenes that leave you on the edge of your seat waiting for the outcome. Day Si, a peacekeeper has pissed me off from the start of this series. He seemed arrogant and mean to the point of abuse. I really hate his character but realize there is at least one in every story I don’t like.

Action, drama, suspense and some pretty intense battle scenes are in this well written story. I have loved this series from the start as it has everything I want in a story minus the paranormal aspect. You can’t go wrong with sexy bad ass bikers fighting for justice in a cruel world.

Absolutely amazing book and highly recommended.

Review: Drama queen was such a fun hilarious read. If you like mystery with a touch of humor you will love this.

When bodies start dropping like flies, Nicky and Noah find themselves together trying to find out who is doing the murder and to prove it isn’t Noah. I laughed so much while reading this story. It felt like living a game of clue trying to figure out who done it, then find that person dead and trying to guess again. There are so many twists and turns, lots of innuendo and some sweet, hot off page sex with Nicky and Noah.

I was surprised I never did guess the killer!

I will say there is a lot of technical stuff about pays and directing and teaching in the beginning that I didn’t understand, but I just overlooked that and enjoyed the mystery!

This is such a fun summer read so curl up and enjoy!
If you are looking for a fun mystery, lots of humor, like actors, play directors and hot professors, sweet romance and mild, mostly off-page but sensual man-sex this is definitely for you!

Review: The first thing I noticed after reading this book was that the title and the actual story was off. There was no dancing in it as I expected there to be. It confused me as the blurb states it was about a dancing show in London. It was about Daniel and Will meeting and immediately there was friction between the two that seemed to blossom into something else as time went by.

I usually don’t read just contemporary books but was volunteered to read this one. It was an o.k. read.

Review: This is the second book in An Aaron Jaycynth Mystery. Though I didn’t read the first I truly enjoyed this book though a few times i was confused. The mystery itself was awesome. I felt myself slowly sitting on the edge of my seat wondering what Aaron and his team was going to do.

It seemed as though Aaron was a little out of his death with his personal life. I felt the BDSM scene was a little much and the story would have flowed more smoothly without it. Aside from that I enjoyed it.

Great read that draws the reader into a mystery that needs to be solved before anyone is killed, though at times I thought I had it figured out and other times I was scratching my head. At the same time Aaron struggles with his personal life to please a sub.

All in all it was really good.

Review: This is book two in this series and book 8 in the Pulp Fiction collection. You do need to read the series in order and it would really help you understand the characters if you read the entire collection in order.

Jet is having trouble accounting for all the members in his pack. Some of the young rogues he has ordered into his pack are from human families and have no Idea how they became werewolves.
When Nico witnesses the near murder of one of the teens he helps Jett investigate. There is definitely an attraction between the two but will Jett let go of his mourning of Russ and give in to the sexy Vampire.

I love this series. I have a thing for Vampires and werewolves and this is such a good series. There is lots of drama, angst mystery and in this one there was a touch of hot man-sex.

I was biting my nails all the way through!

Review: For a story less than 100 pages CM Corett managed to grab my attention from the first paragraph and keep it the entire book. There were several twists, I cried and I cheered each of these characters along the way.

James rejected Ashes advances in the beginning but you have to applaud Ash on going after what he wanted. Then through a tragic twist James much pursue the man he fell in love with. I would have loved to seen this spread out and some blanks filled in. I would have loved more details on Ashes job and adventures and would have loved more about Brody and Ashes history. Yes I loved this story so much I just wanted more! I will definitely be looking for more from this author!

If you like sweet romance, extreme sports, books, older men/younger men, some twists, some moderate but sensual loving man-sex this is definitely for you!

Review: Do you ever finish a book and think, I want to see where these two are a few years down the road? Well that is what Proud Heart does, it gives you a glimpse into the life Chance and Bradley have settled into now that they found their happy ever after.

Chance and Bradley have been together three years now and still going strong. But there are a few tears in the fabric of their lives that need mending. Chance had to take a step back from the restaurant when his father fell ill, so Bradley has taken over running the place which takes him away from home, and Chance, for long hours and late nights. Little arguments over mundane things become all out wars, caused by the stress they are both feeling over the separation.

On top of all that, they are trying to plan a wedding and not everyone they love is happy about the pending nuptials. When the opportunity to escape from life and responsibility for the weekend arises, Bradley makes plans to secure his future with Chance and prove to his Cowboy that he and their life together is the most important thing.

What a wonderful follow up to Chance of the Heart! Boehme shows that sometimes life can be messy. There are unforeseen challenges to maintaining a business, a life and a relationship. But the one thing that never wavers is the love Chance and Bradley have for one another. They are passionate and committed so when they argue or disagree. All that passion bleeds over into the fight. This was just a fast, fun read with a little bit of drama and angst, and a whole lot of love and compromise.

There were just a few typos that drew my attention away from the story momentarily, but overall, I loved this short story.

Perfect addition to this series, I do hope there will be more to come.
