Blurb: Blair Montague is sent to Newton, Montana, to purchase a ranch and some land for his father. It’s a trip he doesn’t want to make. But his father paid for his college education in exchange for Blair working for him in his casinos, so Blair has no choice. When he finds out he’ll be dealing with Royal Masters, the man who bullied him in high school, he is shocked. Then Blair is surprised when he finds that Royal’s time in the Marines has changed him to the point where Blair could be attracted to him… if he’s willing to take that chance.

Royal’s life hasn’t been a bed of roses. He saw combat in the military that left him scarred, and not just on the outside. When he inherits his father’s ranch, he discovers his father wasn’t a good manager and the ranch is in trouble. The sale of land would put them back on good footing, but he is suspicious of Blair’s father’s motives, and with good reason. The attraction between them is hard for either to ignore, but it could all evaporate once the land deal is sealed.

Review: Blair Montague was a severely bullied teenager, to the point that his mother packed them up and moved away so that her son could feel happy and safe. Now an adult and a college graduate, his verbally and emotionally abusive father keeps a tight hold on Blair using the fact that he paid for Blair’s college to twist the knife. Now dear old dad has decided he wants to buy some land back in their hometown of Newton, Montana, and guess who daddy dearest decides needs to close the deal.

Royal Masters was the star in the ‘let’s make Blair’s life a living hell’ play back in high school. When his father noticed that Blair was walking down the wrong path in life, he told his son to shape up or get out, so Royal joined the marines. War and watching your friends die can change a man, and Royal is not the person he was in high school anymore, but Blair isn’t buying it.

The two wind up spending a lot of time together when Blair shows up on Royal’s doorstep to buy a portion of the ranch land that Royal is having to sell in order to save the ranch. You know those old sayings… opposites attract… the heart wants what the heart wants… well both apply to Blair and Royal.

Attraction is an evil emotion at times, and these two cannot deny the emotion for very long. The more time Blair spends with Royal, the more he can see the change, the more attached he becomes. But what happens once the deal is sealed? Royal will never leave his families ranch or Montana, but Blair’s life is somewhere else. He has a job and commitments and a demon for a father that is hell-bent on making Blair’s life a living hell. What to do.

So while it took me a little while to warm up to Royal, I really liked how complicated his character was. You learn more and more about him and the life he’s led as the story unfolds, why he lashed out at Blair as a youth and how making the conscious decision to turn his life around made him a better man.

And Blair didn’t make it easy for Royal to earn forgiveness for the mistakes of his past. Even after they succumb to the magnetic pull they have to one another, Blair still struggles with separating the past Royal with the current Royal.

This book definitely showed the sexier side of Grey’s imagination. These two were oh so steamy and sexy and passionate, a couple of rabbits! There were these quirky little descriptives throughout the story as well that I quite liked. The photo booth pictures, that brought a tear to my eye.

And then Blair’s best friend talking about what he saw when he looked at the image of Royal on Blair’s phone. The sometimes odd but always understanding conversations Blair had with his mother. She was wonderful and so right about her ex-husband, the man was evil incarnate.

Grey took the two worlds he’s best at and merged them for this story, cowboys and contemporary. His fascinating imagination is in overdrive, very detailed and descriptive, and oh so sexy! Definitely a must read.

Henry VIII of England seeks his way home – into the arms of his lost lover

on the pages of a fictional autobiography We, King Henry VIII. This new release will delight you if you love Henry and enjoy supernatural fantasy in your gay fiction. Sounds good? Read on to find out more. I’ve got a sensual excerpt for you, but let’s start with the book blurb.

We, King Henry VIII Part 1

by

S. Joy P.

On the 27th of January, 1547 AD, one hour before midnight, Henry VIII is mere three hours from his death. On his deathbed, he only pines to behold his true love for one more time. To catch but a glimpse of Adhamh’s face – that he desires above all things. For his whole life fearful of God, he would now give his mind, body, and soul to the Devil if the Dark Lord promised him but one moment with his lost lover. Only his heart Henry could not give, for Adhamh has it in his keeping. It has always been so, from the day they met. And there the story of their star-crossed love truly begins.

In the hot August of the year 1521 AD, England lazily revels in its still young King Henry VIII, the most accomplished and the handsomest monarch of the Christendom. For whole the world, Henry plays the King who lacks nothing, and who fears nobody save God. Deep inside, he is a man tormented by dark secrets shrouding his marriage, tortured by fears for the fate of his dynasty. His summer morning is not filled with idle delight; it brims with barely concealed terrors – until the moment when God sends him a sign: a wolf trapped in the royal chapel. From the first heartbeat of the unexpected encounter, the beast exudes an aura of unalloyed loyalty vested in Henry alone. Overcome with the sight of the wolf’s unconditional surrender into his hands, Henry believes him to be a messenger of God and spares his life.

But… a human heart beats in the wolf’s chest. Adhamh the Seventh, the only son of the House of Svar, the Margrave at Zuria Labarra is the second most powerful man after the King of Cerbeden – and a werewolf cast out of his world as a punishment for a fateful failure. The High Immortal who so sentenced him to die as the Devil’s Own knew nothing about an uncanny resemblance between the King of England and the King of Cerbeden. Neither does Adhamh. In Henry, he sees his own beloved liege lord, whom he could never harm. The moment of his surrender gives birth to a new unbreakable bond and triggers events which neither he, nor Henry could ever foretell.

The affection that arises between them faces constant dangers, both seen and unseen. Constraints placed on them by social norms and Henry’s religious beliefs can be overcome, but what if Adhamh is yanked back into his own world one day? This ever-present peril cannot be provided for. Nor is it the darkest threat lurking close.

Blurb: On a ranch, there’s plenty to stand in the way of two men finding romance and their happily ever after—long hours of work, lack of communication, and the expectations of others. But for these cowboys, no obstacles can keep them from realizing their passion and love.

Letters From a Cowboy

When Simon Wood comes to Tamar Ranch, what begins as animosity between him and Chip Henson soon evolves into something very different. They give in to their need, but they’re taking a big risk leaving letters for each other. Soon Simon must choose between leaving the ranch to save Chip’s job or taking an even bigger risk and going back for him.

Review: Back in the 50’s being gay could get you killed. Simon moves from ranch to ranch when things get heated. After leaving his last ranch getting caught with his boss, he was lucky to leave with his hide. He comes to the Tamar ranch and finds he like it.  An animosity between him and Chip soon evolve into something much stronger than either has ever had before. This time Simon doesn’t run to save his hide but Chips. How does that work out?

This was a beautifully written, poignant story of love between two men in the 1950’s. There is comradery, lots of action, drama and a beautiful romance. I loved the little letters between the men. This story moved me in so many ways. I will warn ya, once ya start you can’t stop and have a tissue or two handy.

The only issue I had was I was deep into it and bam I turned the page to the epilogue. It ended much too soon, but I loved the end!

If you like historical romance (1950’s, bigotry, cowboys, angst, drama, and some fairly hot man-sex this is definitely for you!

Blurb: Mason made headlines when, after his professional baseball career was sidelined by an injury, he very publicly came out of the closet. Now he’s scratching the baseball itch playing in the Rainbow League while making his way through New York’s population of beefcakes, even though they all come up short. Plus, he’s still thinking about last summer’s encounter with hot, effeminate, pierced and tattooed Patrick—pretty much the opposite of the sort of man he has long pictured himself with.

Patrick hasn’t been able to forget Mason either, and now that baseball season is back upon them, he’s determined to have him again. Mason is unlike any man Patrick has ever been with before, and not just because he’s an ex-Yankee. All Patrick has to do is convince a reluctant Mason that their one night wasn’t just a crazy fluke and that they could be great together…if only Mason could get past his old hang-ups and his intolerant family.

Review: This is the second book in Kate McMurray’s Rainbow League series and I am utterly hooked! You need to read these books in order, so you really do need to go back to book 1, The Windup.

I am in love with the characters and the setting (I’m always a bit partial to hot guys playing some mostly friendly sports). In fact, I loved these 2 books so much that I am keen to look into Kate McMurray’s other books!

The books so far have followed the men who play for the Hipsters, one of New York’s gay baseball teams in the Rainbow League. The primary plotline for this book is based around Mason, who ended his career as a Yankee after being injured and then deciding to come out of the closet. He still works in sports, but mostly in journalism. He’s been pining for away for Patrick for close to a year (which is about where we left the team after Ian and Ty got together in book 1).

Mason has a lot of baggage to deal with from his family which warps his thinking. Patrick isn’t exactly effeminate but he does not suffer from shyness and very comfortable with himself.

Another story line which is glimpsed at is the love triangle between best friends and Hipster teammates, Carlos and Nate, and Carlos’ boyfriend, Aiden. Carlos spent the entire first book drooling over Aiden. This part of the plot opens up for the next installment in the series, which in am excited at the prospect of reading.

I loved the emotion of the story; both Mason and Patrick are super relatable. The lives they live and their navigation of their fledgling relationship is just real. I loved the drama, even if there was the slightest bit of angst, something I really am not fond of. Overall, anyone who is a sucker for sport related romance is going to eating this one up.

Review: As with the first book this book has no shortage of mystery and danger in it. It was intense at times with people after Cyrus, a vampire, and Lorenz, his lover, to obtain what was given to Lorenz. I loved how this story progressed. The way the other characters were introduced was great. I was afraid for Cyrus and Lorenz throughout.

Good story with an atmosphere that draws the reader in. Great details plus the need to figure out what was going on made for a good read.

Review: This is book three in Quads of Alpha S series. I felt so bad for Wynne as he felt he needed to run from an abusive Dom rather than just break things off. After crashing when a mission goes wrong he finds himself attracted to one of the aliens.

However after the way he’s been treated he sticks to his guns and remains true to himself as he gets to know the other being. I loved Wynne’s character as he overcomes what he has been through. Hot sex spiced up things in this wonderfully written story.

Loved it.

Review: After receiving an invitation to a school reunion and going to see his old high school crush, Conrad, sees his old friend Gary and realizes how much time he wasted pining after someone else when love was right there all along for the taking.

I was glad when Conrad stopped wasting time on someone who didn’t feel the same as him. I was saddened by the fact the fact that Gary and Conrad lost so much time when they could have together instead.

But it all worked out at the reunion with some hot steamy sex and a hint of a future together with each other as it should have been.

Review: Other than the fact that this story skips quite a bit in the story and seems rushed, it is a pretty good book. I was not happy that it skipped parts though. I think if you had gotten the guys whole story, it would have been a Five Hearts book.

Thomas had known that Kyle was his mate, when Kyle was still a child. He had left for college only hearing from Kyle a handful of times. One day he gets a call from a stranger, who turns him the hell on, and tells him he needs to come home to save Kyle from getting killed. He gets there in time for another sexy wolf to save Kyle, and then throw himself over the cliff. What he had not known was he had two mates.

Kyle had loved Thomas for a long time, but had not known he was his mate till he smelt Thomas shirt on a lonely night. However Thomas never came back. He didn’t come back when his parents died, nor did he come back for when Kyle was in a coma. He had told him off and never to come home. He screwed that one up. He however started falling in love with Cale.

Cale had love Thomas since he was a child but stayed away because he had known Thomas was mated to Kyle. He had intended to give his life to stop the pain, but that doesn’t always work. Thank god because it seems he was mated to them both.

Now all of that is good, but you are missing their lives to see how they got there, and then you are missing all the juicy details of Cale and Kyle. There was just too much missing to make this a great story. It had all of its possibilities but it comes off rushed. It felt like the author didn’t take the time to give me a story that took heart.

I loved this book, don’t get me wrong, but was disappointed in it also. I hope that the next book has more meat to it. I can’t wait to read it that is for sure.

Anthony Antonelli didn’t mean to give a false name but he never expected to see Shane again, anyway. Hell, it had been years since he last saw his high school crush so the chances were slim to none…or so he thought.

Unable to stay away from Shane, Anthony finds himself at the bar where they first became reacquainted the following night. And after seeing Shane, all goes well but unfortunately Anthony can’t resist telling one more lie.

Review: The main problem I saw with this book was the fact that the author used the wrong names for the guys. Anthony goes into to the restaurant and is talking to his dad. Anthony says he talked to Anthony today, when it should have been he talked to Shane. A few pages before that it was Shane’s brother telling him that Shane showed up to see him. This happens a few times in the book. It drives me up the wall that an author has a great story and when you come across mistakes that are so easy to catch it leaves me with questions.

This is the first book that I have read from this author and as I said it would have been a great story if it had not had all the mistakes that I had noticed. It makes it come across like the author rushed this book.

Shane and his brother Ian lost their parents to a car crash, and were more or less forced to move. Finding an apartment was on their side and so were the great neighbors. When they decide to celebrate at the club, Shane was shocked to find himself doing some hot stuff in the bathroom. It wasn’t till his new neighbors take him to a restaurant that he finds out the truth. His sexy lover had lied about who he was.

Anthony has always liked Shane, but was ashamed of who he was at one time, so he lied about who he was. Anthony had been a big boy when they were in school and he wanted to come off as someone else. Too bad it gets his ass in trouble.

Now normally when I am disappointed in a book I don’t normally look forward to reading the next story. However since this is the first of a series, I am wanting to see what he does with the next book. So far I am disappointed in the mistakes that were easy to notice. I hope the next book is edited better.

Now overall, the story is sexy, hot and has great potential. I look forward to hearing about what Ian is going to get into.

A bloody defeat in Spain and tragedy at home pull William away from service in the British Army and turn him from an officer to an earl, but status, time, and distance combined can’t change Will’s feelings for Duncan.

When a hard-won peace is finally achieved, Will realizes the most important mission he may ever undertake will be convincing Duncan that the end of the fighting can mean the beginning of their lives together.

Review: This story takes place in a time where positions were bought and homosexuality was unheard of. William has purchased a Lieutenant’s Commission in the Coldstream Regiment, British Foot Guards. I must say I found this odd as surely the men paying for positions were not trained for them to begin with so it baffled me as to how they knew how to do the job required of them to begin with. Scottish Sargent Duncan Blair shows Will the ropes and the two grow closer as the story progresses.

I was saddened by the fact that a war was needed at all and the fact that Will was pulled away by a tragedy causing the two men to not be able to see one another until many years later. Though this was a good story, I found it hard to believe that in the time period these two were in that they could be together without being discovered. It just did not seem real to me.

It was an o.k. read.

Garner Vorzman suspects that his beloved—the other half of his soul—is none other than Brock Sanchez. While everyone considers the human an all-around good guy, he is also a womanizing playboy. Having spent almost one hundred years in the military, Garner draws on his knowledge of strategy. He uses the levity of the coven Christmas party to his advantage and seduces Brock.

Unfortunately, the human runs from their connection. Hoping if he leaves Brock alone he will come to crave what they’d shared, Garner waits for months. He runs out of time when drinking blood from other donors becomes nearly impossible. Angry at the human’s apparent obstinateness, Garner tracks Brock down and issues an ultimatum. Give them one dalliance every other week so Garner can draw the blood he needs, or their one night stand will no longer remain a secret.

If Brock agrees, can Garner turn the strong-arm tactic into something that will win the man’s affection?

Review: Garner, a vampire, finds his beloved in Brock, a human.

However Brock denies his feelings for Garner. Garner is determined to make Brock see they should be together no matter what others think. I loved how Garner gave Brock his space to work things out yet still managed to show up at times to show Brock he’s serious.

Although I understood Brock’s reluctance I felt he was using excuses to keep Garner away due to his own insecurities. But all worked out once Brock realized how much happier he was with Garner. The only gripes I have with this book were the demon being introduced for a very short time then the cliffhanger at the end. I certainly hope the next book will shed more light on the demon and Peter’s disappearance.

Packed full of emotions and tension this book delivers a look into two individuals who are meant to be together with one shying away from the other. Intense at times with an investigation which wasn’t much into the deaths of humans.

Loved it.

The picture is a close-up of a gorgeous Native American man. His long, black hair moves with the wind and flows against his right shoulder. His dark eyes are looking straight at you, and you can almost feel them on your skin. His arms are crossed on his hairless chest, and there’s a barbed wire tattoo wrapped around his upper right arm. His plump, pink lips are highlighted by the dark stubble on his cheeks.
STORY LETTER:
Dear Author,

I have never ventured far from home. Being a shifter keeps me from becoming a part of society, but it seems that society is beginning to infringe on my territory. They, the humans, are all so full of themselves and think they are entitled to my land. But there is one man, who stands up to the others, who stands on his own… he draws my attention. Why?

Sincerely,

Raevyn

P.S. I would prefer a non-wolf shifter, but something strong. I would like for the human to be a smaller, more flamboyant man. Please no rape or torture. And I really want an HEA.

Review: I found myself chuckling a few times throughout this story with Kangee’s, a raven shifter, brooding and Jase’s nonstop comments. It’s not a normal pack story per se but more of two people getting to know one another and discovering who they truly are. I loved both MC’s in this book as they seemed opposites.

I also loved the fact that Rangee’s raven courted Jase when Kangee seemed unsure. These two seemed to really hit it off after a while and I so enjoyed reading about them. I just wish the story had been longer.

Sweet short story with lots of attitude that I loved.

Great read.

Review: Stealing art can be an easy job if you have special powers. It’s even easier of each of your partners has these skills as well. Bring in Phillip Archer a vampire, Rob a ghost, Duff a shifter and Liddy, Duff’s human girlfriend and getaway driver. You have a merry band of misfit or should I say people with some awesome superpowers.

The story had good premise and the characters were very well-developed and intriguing. The plot was a bit lacking for me since it seems to have several small stories that weren’t really connected and a few scenes that led nothing to the story. I will say the interaction between these friends and the character development were enough for me to enjoy the story. I loved the addition of Ephram to round out the team and give a romantic interest to Phillip.

The sex is mild, but good. You get one or two basic sex scenes, then the rest is hinted out or off the page. So if you’re looking for a very steamy story this isn’t for you. If you’re looking for a fun, vampire/shifter story that is unique, a little suspense, and good character interaction this is definitely for you.

Review: Picture this…

High above Wilde City, Howard Hart flies one of his airships through the bright, morning sky. Only to find his son, heir to the Hart fortune, butt ass naked on his balcony with his lover, Buck Baxter Private Investigator extraordinaire, just as naked. Holding his spent lover in his arms. The tension is palpable. As if Buck needed another headache today.

First he’s very rudely woke by his assistant Stella who can best be described as a foul-mouthed dame that likes to “borrow” her bosses pipe and smoke all his pot! Then there is the new case at the theater where the leading lady disappeared into a puff of fog and black feathers. Yes, I said feathers.

From the start, something is amiss, but Buck has a hard timing putting his finger on the miss since he’s having to play good cop to Stella’s slightly hysterical bad cop. The theater seems to be alive with malcontent and mysteries. The playbill for the show is a substitute suspect list as Buck and Stella try to navigate their way through costumes, cranky actors, a pretentious backer and a very cranky snake. It doesn’t help that Buck’s focus is divided between the case and his now uncertain relationship with Harry.

This was just a fast, fun read. I love this 1920’s era world Knight has created as the backdrop, with these theatrical characters that breathe life into the story. I think Stella is my favorite, I just love the way she talks, like a twenties harlot. I picture a young Mae West while I’m reading her and I can just see her at the juke joint with her feather boa, glittery flapper dress, that long cigarette holder, or in Stella’s case, Buck’s pipe! I picture her wearing a way too long string of fake pearls that she could wrap around someone’s neck and choke the living shit out of them if they pissed her off.

Then there is the dual mystery of the story that kept it a little intense for the reader. There were little clues dropped throughout the dialogue if you were paying attention while reading, that made the suspects identity clearly obvious, but I didn’t realize that until the identity was revealed. That was very enjoyable.

Then there is the strain on the relationship between Buck and Harry unfolding in the background. The story flowed well and steady from start to nearly the finish, with a big finale that literally had me sitting up straight, freaking out just a little bit.

All’s well that ends well, that’s all I’m going to say. If you are a fan of slapstick mystery, Columba, the roaring twenties… grab yourself a copy of this little ditty, I think you’ll approve. I caution that you read the first book if you haven’t yet, otherwise you won’t understand or appreciate some important events and characters within this story.

Grab your pipes, pour yourself a glass of gin and sit back and enjoy Buck’s current comical caper, as he tries to solve the mystery of the Disappearing Divas! And try hard not to get caught with his pants down by his boyfriends dad again either.
