Title: Getting Back To Good Series: Pickleville, #5 Author: April Kelley Genre: Contemporary Length: Novella (119 pages) Publisher: eXtasy Books Inc. (June 15th 2015) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 Hearts Blurb: Timing is everything when it comes to love, especially when it’s so far off.
Luis Flynn has been fighting depression off and on most of his life. He figures it’s genetic or a product of his childhood or something. Whatever it is, he thought he’d won the war between himself and depression, until it seems to come back again. Little by little over the course of a few months, Luis finds himself slipping further and further into that black hole.
He’s also had a crush on Royce, his boss, since the day he met him, not that he would ever admit it. Luis can tell Royce finds him attractive, and they even kiss, but Royce constantly pushes him away, which doesn’t help his inner struggles. When it comes to relationships, timing is everything.
Review: Each book in the Pickleville collection will feature a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.
Luis and his brothers had basically been raised in hell. His father had been molesting his older brother and the one time he tried on Luis’ brother Brad had beat him close to death. He goes to the house once a month to make his father stay away. Even though his father had not had a chance to rape him, he did torture him pretty bad. He had scars on his back from it. Now to get over the pain he lives he cuts himself. He knew he needed help. Not to mention he loved his boss, but to bad his boss had no clue.
Royce was attracted to Luis, but Luis was so young he didn’t make a move. Hell he didn’t even know Luis wanted him till Kyler spilled the beans. He wanted Luis, but it was still all about their ages. He had gone over to talk to him about it after a slight argument. He had not known too much about Luis’s past, but the moment he found out he was there for him. He just had to make the decision that Luis’s was his.
This story is actually one that comes off real. It tells about sexual abuse to a child, what they do to get away and what they will do to protect each other. It will have your heart in tears through parts of this story, but like I said before it will have you laughing at parts also. I think that April can give you a story that will bring you to tears and have you wishing that you could be the one to rescue them. I loved these brothers and their lovers. They come off with so much feeling that it will have you feeling it also. I loved this book.
I can honestly tell you that this is going to be one of those types of series. One that I will have to read over and over. I love the way all the feelings they felt was involved in this story. It was the perfect story for me and I loved it. I can’t wait to read the next story. When April puts out a book I am usually there to eat them up. Trust me it will keep you laughing, crying, loving and having fun.

Xavier’s life has gone to hell. Not only has his ex-boyfriend’s stalker attacked him, but in order to keep him safe he’s being sent to the Gillham pack. When he meets Andy, he’s weirdly attracted to the man, but Xavier knows he’s not good enough for him.
Andy doesn’t want to play babysitter for Xavier, at least not until he meets him and realizes the man is his mate. He knows he’s going to have a hard time convincing Xavier to at least give their bond a chance, and that’s not counting the other problems their relationship will have to face.

Review: Each book in the Gillham Pack collection will feature a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order. This is in fact a spinoff from the Whitedell Pride collection. There is nothing better than a good paranormal romance with two gorgeous men involved.
I love the way Catherine can put together a book that not only fascinates you but draws you in. I had a blast reading this and look forward to reading more by this author.
Xavier had been in love with Andrew. That is until Andrew broke up with him. Andrew was with Soren now, but it made Xavier feel even worse. He thinks that he should not be with anyone because he is a bit on the short side and a little over weight.
So when Andrew’s stalker comes after him, the shifters thought it might be better if he was on shifter lands for safety. Then they got the idea of sending him to the Gillham pack. Right before he left though, he was told about them being shifters. What does he do, he faints twice. Talk about things going crazy.
Then he meets Andy.
Andy was not pleased that he was going to take a day or two off from the garage to babysit some human. That is until he gets his eyes on Xavier and finds out that he is his mate. Of course he doesn’t do things easy, hell he scared the hell out of his mate when he shifted twice. With the dangers going on around them he will do everything he can in his power to keep him safe. Then they are sent in on a rescue mission, what they find shocks them silly. Life as they know it is about to change.
I can honestly tell you that this is going to be one of those types of series. One that I will have to read over and over. I love the way all the feelings they felt was involved in this story. It was the perfect story for me and I loved it. I can’t wait to read the next story. When Catherine puts out a book I am usually there to eat them up. Blurb: A marked man enters The Service and is assigned to the hottest action-adventure movie star on the planet. However, he is not the only one who wants the star’s attention.
Brand is excited to enter The Service and even more excited to meet his new Master. He is assigned to Zane Wooding, an action-adventure movie star and a real man’s man. Zane is famous for his body more than his acting, but the paparazzi and his legions of fans don’t seem to care. Brand has to dodge the pitfalls of being with someone so famous and even begins to fall for his Master, but he also becomes a target for those that are jealous of Zane’s interest in him.
While his Master protects him from outsiders, the evil is much closer to home.
Review: Brand is a college student who enlists in the service and gets a call that he has been chosen. Brand seemed excited yet nervous at first until he meets his master Zane Wooding, an actor. Zane is smoking hot but feels most only see his body and looks and not the man he actually is inside. He seemed insecure about a few things throughout.
There is a lot of sex in this book, every few pages, between Brand and Zane and with multiple partners. Most of it was steamy and hot. I liked the way that Brand and Zane gained more confidence in themselves as the story progressed. They each helped boost each other up when it was needed.
I hated Casey. Zane should have never let him watch over Brand while he was gone. The way Casey treated Brand was horrifying. It broke my heart that another human being would be that cruel to another. It was sickening.
It was an OK read with some intense scenes that I didn’t care for as they disturbed me. But I did enjoy Cade, Shawn, Zane and Brand’s connections as they seemed to fit well together and certainly help when things turned sour.

Title: Mirror of Obsession Series: N/A Author: Harper Jewel Genre: Paranormal / Contemporary Length: Novella (73 pages) Publisher: Excessica Publishing (May 20th 2015) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥ 3 ¾ Hearts Blurb: When fifteen-year-old Devin Hughes created his phantom lover to help him keep his sexual identity a secret, he never imagined that Brice would materialize in the flesh ten years later.
Convinced that the mind-blowing encounters he had with his hunky specter were nothing more than fevered hallucinations, Dev attempts to push Brice to the back of his mind and concentrate on his rising career as an advertising executive.
With the help of his newest client, Englishman Matthew Lyons, CEO of Lyons Security, Devin is able to forget Brice once and for all. Sparks fly between Dev and Matt, and they speed full-throttle into a relationship.
During a month-long separation, Devin struggles with uncertainty and reverts to his “hurt them before they hurt you” attitude, forcing him to get a grip and make things right or lose Matt altogether.
When an obsessed Brice finds out about Devin’s new relationship, his rage reaches an all-time high. The two men have ruined all his plans, and he will stop at nothing to reach his goal: harvesting Devin’s soul.
Will Devin, with Matthew’s help, find a way to banish Brice forever, or will they both succumb to the satanic powers of a maniacal demon?
Warnings: This story contains male/male sex including one hard-core scene using BDSM toys (sounds) and one descriptive punishment scene between two males that may offend some.
Review: What happens when a young man wants to be loved? He has a make believe lover or so Devin thinks. I liked the way this story was written and progressed. After Devin’s break up he meets Matt and thinks he has finally found the one. But his so called dream lover may not approve.
Intriguing book with paranormal and contemporary aspects all throughout. Brice seemed intent for his own gain with no concern for anyone else. I loved how well Matt and Devin seemed so well matched together.

Title: Go Your Own Way Series: N/A Author: Zane Riley Genre: Young Adult Romance Length: Novel (326 pages) Publisher: Interlude Press (May 5th 2015) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ 4.5 Hearts
Blurb: Will Osborne couldn’t wait to put the roller coaster ride of his public education behind him. Having suffered bullying and harassment since grade school, he planned a senior year that would be simple and quiet before going away to college and starting fresh.
But when a reform school transfer student struts into his first class, Will realizes that the thrill ride has only just begun.
Lennox McAvoy is an avalanche. He’s crude, flirtatious, and the most insufferable, beautiful person Will’s ever met. From his ankle monitor to his dull smile, Lennox appears irredeemable. But when Will’s father falls seriously ill, Will discovers that there is more to Lennox than meets the eye.
Review: For a debut novel, this was fantastic! I loved reading it from the beginning to the end, and the author earned himself a new fan girl: me!
This is a character driven novel that beautifully shows us the journey of two young men, bad boy Lennox McAvoy and the innocent Will Osborne. It was a pleasure to go along with these two fantastic characters through their first true love experience while they take their first baby steps towards romance.
This book is written from both characters’ point of view and I really liked that, especially since we got to see Lennox in a different way from that which he showed the rest of the world. The first half of the book might seem a bit slow-paced, and Lennox might get on the reader’s nerves, but please do not give up.
This book grown in the second half, especially towards the end. It becomes more intense and while heartbreaking, it gives you hope. This book is the perfect example to that saying “Don’t judge a book by its cover”, and it shows us the struggles that people who are different from “the norm” are going through.
If you’re not a fan of New Adult books because sex doesn’t always happen in them, give this one a chance. They boys do have sex, in every way you can think, so your pervy side should be satisfied.
Lennox broke my heart! Literally, as a mother, I cried for him and my heart bled for him, because no young person should live the way he does. His situation is completely heartbreaking, and I was keeping my fingers crossed the entire time that someone would step in and show this darling boy that there’s still hope for the humanity.
Will was a romantic at heart, so totally different from Lennox who truly believed there’s no such thing as love. Will was a virgin while Lennox was quite experienced, Will wanted romance, and love while Lennox wanted to get in his pants. Lennox’s crude language and obnoxious personality was bothersome, but not in the way you’d think. I wasn’t offended by it, but rather frustrated that people always had so little faith in him. He decided to give them a reason to dislike him since they would anyways.
Their relationship started out as enemies, progressed to friendship and from there it flowed to love easily. Will saw Lennox in a way other people weren’t likely to see him and believed in him when nobody else would. I loved them together, their chemistry was great, and the night when Will loses his virginity to Lennox will stay with me forever.
I was just so heartbroken with the way it started and I was so happy with the way it ended. Lennox really did get the best birthday present ever, even if it wasn’t planned: Will’s complete trust and utter surrender.
The secondary characters were so different from each other. They were at opposite ends of the spectrum. We have the bullies, the drunks, the animals who are nothing more than a piss poor excuse for human beings. I really hated them with all my heart! Karen and Ben, Will’s parents, were amazing! I loved the relationship they had with Will and I thought Karen was an amazing person, more than a stepmother, more than a friend. She’s that person that would make anyone lucky to have on their side.
The ending felt a bit rushed to me, a tentative HFN instead of the HEA I was looking forward to. I hope we get a sequel in the future because I’d love to see if Will and Lennox make it together as a couple and how their lives are 10 years for now. I’d love to see how Will’s plans for the future turned out, and what role Lennox plays in it. I need more!

Title: A Promise Given, 2nd Edition Series: Promise, #2 Author: Stormy Glenn Genre: Romantic Suspense Length: Novel (239 Pages) Publisher: Siren-BookStrand, Inc. (June 11th 2015) Heat Level: Moderate to Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 Hearts Blurb: Six months ago, Detective Cooper Thomas was kidnapped and tortured by a psychotic serial killer bent on revenge. The memories still haunt him. If that wasn’t bad enough, Alec Whitley, the only man Cooper ever really loved, came back just in time to rescue him from hell.
Their life together ended ten years ago when Alec left without a word. Cooper barely survived the loss. Now, Alec wants to discuss their past and the future he believes they might still have together. But before Cooper can come to terms with Alec being back in his life, he has to discover who is killing young gay men before he and Alec become the next victims.
This book was previously published with another publisher and has been extensively revised and expanded.
Review: To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.
I love the way Stormy can put together a book that not only fascinates you but draws you in. I had a blast reading this and look forward to reading more by one of my favorite authors.
Cooper is a quirky detective with a funny streak a mile long. He caught my attention in the first book because of the way he cared for his friends. He had been kidnapped by a psycho six months ago and was tortured for several hours before his friends found him and saved him. What surprised him was that one of the guys that came to help him, was his lover from ten years ago.
They had been in love. That is, until Alec left him with no word. He had just disappeared and Cooper had even thought he was dead. He blamed himself, and then he got pissed. He had never forgotten him and in fact still loved the jerk. Now he was back.
Alec has always loved Cooper, but he left him out of fear. Fear that his father would destroy what they had. Now that his father had passed he wanted to find a way back to Cooper. So after rescuing Cooper, he stayed. He had to way to make up for the past and to see if they had a future together. For now he had to keep another killer from getting his hands on his lover.
I think out of all the characters in this series though, it would be Ben and Jordan that actually have my attention. The fact that Ben is so tender and cute, and Jordan is straight means that I cannot wait for their stories to come out. As for this one, all I can say is Stormy rocks.
I can honestly tell you that this is going to be one of those types of series. One that I will have to read over and over. I love the way all the feelings they felt was involved in this story. It was the perfect story for me and I loved it. I can’t wait to read the next story. When Stormy puts out a book I am usually there to eat them up.
Trust me it will keep you laughing, crying, loving and having fun.

Title: Changing Paths Series: Hounds of Hell, #10 Author: Flynn Eire Genre: Paranormal Length: Novella (144 Pages) Publisher: Supernatural Script, Inc. (April 28th 2015) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts Blurb: Landan Almeric is forgotten by everyone at the estate besides his grandmother, forced to languish in the pits of landscaping hell. Though originally left with mess to make order of, Landan actually enjoys turning the shed into his private workshop and building what’s needed… That’s the part he’s good at after all. It’s the damn mowing he hates.
Taylor Sethos joined the blessed knives project, but has too many other responsibilities to be the Malfinn Lundberg’s blacksmith apprentice. Besides, the guy already has someone in mind. Taylor just has to go pick him up for the interview—while keeping his hands to himself because Landan is tempting enough to break the “no touching the virgins” rule for.
After one hot night, Taylor’s morality blows everything they might have had and crushes Landan. But fate is too cruel to let that be the end of it. Will the paths their changing lives are moving towards pull them further apart or can they come back together with the help of interfering friends?
Review: Each book in the Hounds of Hell collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.
I came across Flynn’s books when she was writing under another name. They always intrigued me and kept me fascinated. So when she started using Flynn, I knew of course I had to investigate them. I was not surprised to find that they are still as entertaining as ever. Although they are a bit different.
Landan has always felt that he was the type that others did not remember nor did they ever love him. His parents had definitely not loved him and had sold his soul to hell for riches. He had taken the job of landscaping even though he hated mowing the yard. So when Taylor came out to tell him about another job, he at first apprehensive but then he jumped at it. He was attracted and it would seem that Taylor was too.
The hounds of hell had a rule, never to touch a saved soul unless they were their mate. However Landan was an adult and wanted it to happen. It did not go the way he thought it would. Taylor screwed the hell up and now Landan hated him.
You know what they say about hate, it is the turn off to love. Which meant Landan loved Taylor. When Taylor showed up drunk to apologise, it was then that Taylor got the mate sent. Landan was his mate, and he was so screwed. He knew he messed up big time, and now he had to fix it all up.
Saved souls are those that their parents sold their souls before they were born. Hounds of Hell work for hell, but they have changed sides to help the souls. It is their job to keep everyone safe, but they sure do make things spicy. Hot tempered and even hotter passion is pretty much what they have. I love how this series is not the instantly meet and fall in love. However they are keeping in the same pattern for each book. I was hoping for a bit more action and danger in them though.
I can’t wait to read the next story. When Flynn puts out a book I am usually there to eat them up. Trust me it will keep you laughing, crying, loving and having fun.

Blurb: Detective Larke Ava doesn’t believe in magic or the paranormal. And he joined the Seattle PD in order to uncover and expose the unscrupulous, those like his mother and his brothers. Larke has few cherished memories of growing up on Vashon Island, except for the time he spent with his best friend, Roan Dwellen. But Roan, the adventurer, with a belief in the magical running deep in his veins, left the island when he was eighteen on a mission for his family—his Roma tribe—leaving Larke behind.
Now a part of Seattle’s 77th Precinct, Larke has been assigned a new case—to discover the secrets behind a recovered stolen artifact named the Eye of Anu. Little does Larke realize the unique artifact is about to change his life. Not only will it reunite him with the boyhood friend he has never forgotten, but it also draws the attention of dangerous foes, including his own family, who will stop at nothing to acquire it.
Soon, caught between the family he’s always tried to love but couldn’t, and the best friend he could not stop loving but doesn’t necessarily trust, and all the while tempered by his duty to the city he serves, Larke’s next move could mean life or death—especially his own.
Review: This is part of the AmberPax: Tales From The 77th Precinct. When I choose to read this story I was impressed with the paranormal police part of the story. However I was not impressed with this story. It had a good chance but it seem to be missing something important to make it an amazing story. I hate short stories that come off like they are rushed through. That was the way this story came off.
Larke is a detective in Seattle at the 77th. His department worked with what cannot be explained or are just flat out strange. So when he is given a case that involves a creepy looking eye, he knew who he needed to call. Too bad he didn’t want to call Roan. He had moved to Seattle to get away from his family. His mom is a bitch who should be shot off that is for sure. So he gives in and starts looking for Roan. It didn’t go as he planned however. Oh he got Roan’s attention but his family noticed also.
He weasels his way out of his family’s home only to find Roan in his house. Things are starting to get even stranger, but at least in the end he finds out more about his and Roan’s connection.
It has a great start at being a story but it was not for me. Which is a bit strange because I love paranormal stories that have danger, excitement, mystery, suspense and some hot sex.
Too bad that this one had the exact opposite of the effect I expected.

Review: This was a cute short story with a lot of heat in it. It is part of the Bollocks Anthology. It had a bit of a twist to it. Although with most short stories, they come off rushed. That is the way this story felt to me. It didn’t take away from the story too much. I get a kick out of paranormals, but this one has a different tone to it. You get not only a werewolf but a weresheep. What are the odds of that?
Darren had got bit by one of his lovers, turning him into the werewolf. The guy was a jerk all the way around. He had decided after Gran died to find a new home. A home that had a tone of sheep for him to chase. Boy did he get the crap shocked out of him, when one of the sheep turned into a very sexy man. Gethin was a shock to his system in more ways than one.
I got a big kick out of this. I couldn’t really go into the story too much, without giving it away. I wasn’t so sure at first but it was a short read that had me laughing at points. Too bad it was too damn short to get into fully. It just started my taste going but didn’t fulfill it.

Title: Act One: Safe Travels Series: For Whom the Heart Stone Burns, #1 Author: Kari Gregg Genre: Fantasy Length: Novella (99 pages) Publisher: Kari Gregg (April 1st 2015) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥ 3 Hearts
Blurb: Becket built his life around unbelief in the magic Theo, his uncle and guardian, had devoted his all to…until Theo vanished. Grief-stricken, Becket followed Theo’s clues, sending him through a stone grid to Ket. With no magical ability, Becket must find Theo in a land where dragons roam the lowlands and magic evolved in men and women who aren’t apex predators and have settled in high aeries to survive.
Locating his uncle, however, is the easy part. Becket is a bibelot – non-magical. And Theo is recovering from a wild magic storm that hit his expedition to the lowlands. He can’t control his power.
They can’t go home.
Elders will permit a second expedition and Theo’s sole hope of obtaining frequency stone to stabilize his magic, but only if he allows seers to scry Becket’s sentinel first. Too bad the protector scried for Becket is Theo’s rival in this strange otherworld, another caster named Kellan Fik. And Kellan knows Theo and Becket aren’t what they seem.
Handfasting his enemy may be Becket’s best and only chance.
Review: I feel the story could have had more details at certain points to better explain things as the story progressed. Becket has had a hard life so far and I really felt sorry for him. It was weird that he absolutely did not believe in magic yet he’s in a fantasy environment. It was strange to me.
Becket seemed to understanding when things are revealed to him and didn’t really question them. Overall I liked the story but it was confusing at the beginning. This book does end in a cliffhanger.
Good read.

Title: Home to Cedarwood Series: N/A Author: Megan Slayer Genre: Contemporary Length: Novella (83 pages) Publisher: Loose Id, LLC. (May 12th 2015) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ 3 ½ Hearts Blurb: Colin Baker owns a bookstore and he’s back in Cedarwood with his son. He’s looking for a new start after a bad breakup, but he never expected that start to include his old crush, Officer Jordan Hargrove. Jordan hasn’t come out, but if he can score with Colin, then he’s all in. He’s dreamed of hot nights with the quiet man.
After a speeding ticket and some hurt feelings, sparks fly between the bookstore owner and the police officer, but Cedarwood is a small town with small town values, and a gay couple isn’t what the town expects. Colin’s created a support group for single gay fathers and he feels he’s making some difference in Cedarwood. Some folks in Cedarwood are fine with these two men reconnecting, but some aren’t.
Will the naysayers be enough to drive Colin and Jordan apart, or will they make their way together in this small town.
Review: This is the first story of Megan’s that I remember reading and I can say that I am impressed. I do wish that it had more to it though. It has a great story line that seems to have a little extra meaning to it. It shows what some of the gay community goes through in different places. It also shows you what needs to be done in a way to fix it. I was pleased with the way the police chief helped his man though.
Colin had once been with his man for over eight years but only seven were good. As soon as they became parents, Nicholas left him. Now he has moved back to his hometown with his son. His brother is there, the book store and a great school. The only bad sign is the person that is putting dog shit on his porch. A damn homophobe is making the gay community suffer. Then he came across an old classmate that was not so nice to him.
Jordan has always felt bad for what he had done to Colin when they were in school and also for giving him the speeding ticket which is how they met once more. Now he is interested in Colin and is hiding in the closet. Boy does he need to get his head out of his ass and to show the man he wants that he is more important. That and show the little boy that he can make a good step-father.
This is a fascinating little story and I had a blast reading it. My only problem with it was that it was way too short. Felt like a little taste that left me wanting more. I would definitely recommend reading this story. It is short, sweet and downright sexy when they get together.

Title: Not to be Messed With Series: Mating with Wolves, #2 Author: Marcy Jacks Genre: Paranormal / Shifters / M-Preg Length: Novella (101 pages) Publisher: Siren Publishing, Inc. (June 13th 2015) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts Blurb: Morgan Anson is getting used to his new life with his human mate. The man is everything Morgan could have ever wanted, strong, kind, and honorable. As an omega werewolf with mismatched eyes, Morgan is considered a curse to his pack. Despite that, Jake Taylor hasn’t thrown him to the curb.
Which doesn’t stop Morgan from being really nervous about telling his human mate that he is now pregnant.
Jake at first thinks his sweet and shy lover is pulling a fast one, but is thrilled when he learns the truth, and is soon looking forward to being a father, but now he must do everything in his power to make sure Herrick, Morgan’s abusive uncle and the Alpha of the pack, does not find out.
If he does, he might want to take Morgan back, and Jake will have to show him that even though he’s an Alpha, Jake’s mate is not to be messed with.
Review: I do so like seeing the cruel and abusive prick villain of a book get his ass kicked by the good guy hero. Jake totally stepped up his game in this book. Not only does he have to deal with more weirdness as his omega mate Morgan tells him that he is pregnant, but there are bigger things to come for him.
The physical changes a male werewolf goes through to give birth was actually pretty interesting and a new take on M-Preg I don’t think I have run across before. And actually it was one of the less scary ones too.
There was a pretty good pacing throughout the story. It actually happens over a good amount of time and it made sense between the short time jumps. The sex of course was nicely done and descriptive enough without going into porn territory.
I really like Jake and Morgan as a couple. Jake may be human, but he is definitely an alpha. Morgan is still getting used being out from under his uncle’s abusive hands, well mostly. But with Jake’s love and support, Mogan has really started to lose some of his insecurities.
Overall a good story and a very happy ending for Jake and Morgan.
I am really hoping Alain and Sam’s book is next. What I have read so far about them has been intrigued.

Title: Don’t Mess with His Mate Series: N/A Author: Marcy Jacks Genre: Paranormal / Werewolves Length: Novella (82 pages) Publisher: Siren Publishing, Inc. (May 30th 2015) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥ 2 ½ Hearts Blurb: Alpha wolf Maddox Burnz is on a scouting mission. He’s found a new hunter compound, and it looks like they’re signing up recruits. Before Maddox can make a plan of attack, something interesting, and a little sweet, tickles his nose.
The scent of his mate calls to him from one of the tents. Maddox sneaks in to discover that his mate is a hunter, and there’s a dead wolf shifter on the table beside him.
All is not as it seems, however. Todd was in the middle of being attacked by his superior for trying to save the life of the werewolf on the table. Before he can be executed for treason, Maddox kidnaps him.
Maddox believes his mate isn’t a bad person. Todd was caught up in something out of his control. Now it’s just a matter of making the rest of the pack see that, because Maddox has no intention of living without his mate at his side.
Review: I generally enjoy Marcy Jacks books. However this one was lacking something to draw me into the story and the relationship.
The writing itself was up to par, but there was no real emotion. At least not that I felt. It was pretty much find mate, fuck mate, and pack drama. It didn’t have enough emotional components to make me root for either main character.
Granted the sex was hot, but that did not make up for the lacking of the storyline.
All in all this would have been more interesting if there was a little less sex and more interrelationship dialogue.

Title: A Vampire’s Claim Series: Mates of Nethermore, # 1 Author: Jordan Ashton Genre: Paranormal / Vampires / Shape-Shifters Length: Novella (85 pages) Publisher: Siren Publishing, Inc. (May 30th 2015) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥ 3 Hearts Blurb: Vincent Ambers hasn’t seen the outside world in months thanks to the Draco vampire clan that have kept him and his brother captive. When he finally escapes, he runs into a handsome stranger named Mason Pride who offers him his help to save his brother. But after all the evil Vincent’s seen in this new dystopian world, he’s afraid to trust him and let him into his heart.
Mason Pride is a wolf shifter who slays vampires in his spare time along with his brothers. When he comes across a cute, frightened man named Vincent Ambers who looks like a vampire, drinks blood like a vampire, but who doesn’t quite act or smell like one, he’s not only intrigued, he’s also smitten. Although his brothers want to kill Vincent, all Mason wants to do is hold him in his arms and protect him.
When Mason and Vincent head to the Draco lair to save Vincent’s brother, they get caught in a complex web of love and danger, because although Vincent claims he isn’t a vampire, he isn’t quite human either. Can Mason make Vincent trust him and open his heart to the everlasting love that exists between them, while protecting him from the vampire clan that wants him back alive or undead?
Review: The world as we know it has been turned into a dystopian due to a man-made virus that killed two-thirds of the world population, including livestock. After the collapse of the world many things that were only myths have risen and now cause issues for the left over population.
Vincent and his brother Warren have been prisoner of vampire clan Draco. They were captured and the rest of their family killed. Unbeknownst to them they are being used as an experiment by the vampires. To what end is not yet explained.
Mason and his brothers have been hunting vampires for years. His older brother captures Vincent and brings him back in hopes of getting information on the Draco clan. He then plans to kill Vincent. However Mason and Vincent are drawn to each other and start to form a bond.
The way they jump into sex and are declaring their love after only knowing each other two days or less made gave me a bit of whiplash. It was bam, sex, bam instant love. Although I will grant that the sex was decently done. However some of the dialogue left much to be desired. Things like “Vincent was bringing out the sex god in him!” were a bit much for me.
The book ends abruptly and leaves many unresolved issues. Not everything is explained fully and I feel like there are holes in the plot. I am not sure if that was done on purpose and will later be filled in or what.
I am hesitantly giving this a three heart rating since I have never read the author before. I think the theme and overall storyline are interesting enough and I will see what happens in the next book.

Title: Six Degrees of Separation, 2nd edition Series: By Degrees, #2 Author: Taylor V. Donovan Genre: Contemporary / Murder / Mystery Length: Novel (344 Pages) Publisher: Dreamspinner Press LLC (May 22nd 2015) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 Hearts Blurb: FBI team leader Samuel Shaughnessy and bar manager Machlan O’Bannon are exploring a new phase in their non-relationship. The intention is to take it slowly, but power plays are still their favorite activity, and it isn’t long before lines begin blurring. After ending their friends with benefits agreement, no rules are left in place to guide them, and soon the only thing that’s clear is that neither man is fighting hard enough to reestablish the boundaries.
Their situations haven’t improved in the three months since their first encounter. Sam is still focused on his immediate family issues, and everything indicates Mac will have to go to war with his own family before he can reclaim his freedom. The last thing they need is additional complications.
But when the opening of a nightclub brings Mac to New York City and a break in the Leviticus investigation leads Sam to Houston, they discover how closely their worlds have been connected from the beginning. Hiding from the life-altering collision is not an option.
They can take the easier road and go their separate ways or come to terms with their pasts and take a chance on each other.
Review: I couldn’t wait to read Six Degrees of Separation after Six Degrees of Lust. I love a good mystery/suspense and this one has so many interlocking pieces, or so many little degrees of separation between the characters as the author intended. So many puzzles to solve, so many intriguing ways to link the characters together, to try to figure out who the serial killer is and why he’s killing.
Wow! I thought I had my thumb on the right suspect and Taylor keeps throwing new grenades over the literary fence.
As for the chemistry between Sam and Mac? Intense and hot as always….but Mac knows how to handle Sam….give him just enough line to snag himself. It’s not a big hook and a strong jerk that will reel Sam in, it’s letting the line out and ever so slightly leading him in the right direction that finally lands Mac his man.
Living their relationship by Sam’s “rules” seems to work, until Mac finds the right moments to break them, or allows Sam to break them all on his own. The two become more intimate, sharing their troubles as well as their vacation time. This book shows us Sam’s growth from hot and heavy sex with Mac to making love for the first time.
Throughout Six Degrees of Separation, we see the lives of Mac and his Texas boys overlapping with Sam and his New York serial killer case. Hint and clues keep getting dropped and more and more we see connection between Sam’s past and Mac’s current friends and business partners.
Of course we also get to know Sam’s team even better. I so want a book just for Logan! So many of the supporting characters have intense back stories, interesting identities, and I want to know how they got there, how their minds tick…Logan front and center.
I know I’m all over the place, back and forth with this review, but that is kind of how the book plays out. We are volleyed from New York to Texas, from Sam’s FBI team to the drama happening to Mac’s family and friends. Back and forth the web is woven until it gets so tight all the characters confront one another and the action gets crazy. The big chase to catch the killer brings in another character, Detective Callahan, who I hope gets more interaction with Logan…
There is a great twist and interesting surprise regarding the UNSUB at the close of the book that was strongly hinted at in the beginning, kind of a tell….but I can’t say more…I don’t want to spoil the action, the fun, the intensity that is the By Degrees series!
I can’t wait to read more…because yes, there will be more…I HIGHLY recommend to those readers who love a good puzzle and a mystery to solve.

Title: Running Into Zero Tolerance Series: Experimentals, #2 Author: N. J. Nielsen Genre: Fantasy Length: Novel (130 pages) Publisher: MLR Press, LLC (March 1st 2015) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts Blurb: When there’s nowhere left to run–pray you find Zero Tolerance to keep you safe.
While searching for his missing brother, Linc O’Hare stumbles across his mate and willingly gets kidnapped to save a man whose name he doesn’t even know. Having his mate live in slavery is not on Linc’s to-do list, and he plans to rectify the situation.
Gideon Church was resigned to the hell he’s been living. Escaping with Linc is the best day of his life–until he realizes his whole existence has been a lie.
With the help of Linc and the inhabitants of Zero Tolerance will Gideon be able to separate the lies from the truth and figure out just who he really is?
Review: Each book in the Experimentals collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.
While Linc had been hunting his brother down, he comes across his mate. He will do everything in his power to protect him. He just had not known it was so bad. Gideon’s brother had forced him into sex with Linc, but he had not known it would mate them. Linc had been injured but he knew he could get them to safety, but first he had to get them away.
Then the twisted part was there were so many secrets floating around that what they all believed might not be true. Linc loved his mate, no matter who he truly is. Zero Tolerance was there to protect them all but there were a lot more dangers coming for them.
I would recommend reading this especially if you love gorgeous men, magic, paranormals, excitement, action and danger. It gave that to me and so much more.

Title: In the Dark Series: Children of Night, # 1 Author: P.G. Forte Genre: Paranormal & Alternate Worlds / Holiday / Vampires / Suspense Elements Length: Novel (225 pages) Publisher: Samhain Publishing, Ltd. (December 8th, 2009) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥ 3 Hearts Blurb: When you live forever, you’re bound to make a few mistakes.
1969 San Francisco. World-weary Conrad Quintano should have known better than to fall in love with a human—much less Suzanne Fischer, the barely legal, adventure-seeking hippie beauty known as Desert Rose. And the very last thing he should have agreed to do was to raise her babies and protect them with his life. But even twelve-hundred-year-old master vampires can find it hard to reject a deathbed request—especially when issues of love, guilt and blood are involved.
Present day. Raised in virtual isolation, twins Marc and Julie Fischer have always known they are vampires. But they never knew their parentage—or their unique status in the vampire world—until their “uncle” Damian comes to fetch them home. The family reunion, however, isn’t what they expect. They’re thrust into a world for which they’re totally unprepared. And the father they expected to see, Conrad, is missing.
How to find him…and whom to trust? Solving the mystery of betrayal and vampire family values will prove the Beatles had it right. All you need is love…and an occasional side of blood.
Product Warnings: While reading this book you may experience any of the following, an increased desire to wear flowers in your hair, dress in tie-dye or nap during the day. Other symptoms may include an intolerance to sunlight, an aversion to garlic-flavored tofu and a pronounced urge to bake…or get baked.
Review: Conrad, a powerful vampire, goes missing and the mystery begins to deepen the further you read. I loved the fact that Damian, Conrad’s love interest, came to his aid even though Conrad had sent him away years before. It showed how much they still cared for one another even centuries later. Loved Damien’s upbeat character.
Suspenseful at times and mysterious this story draws the reader in the ever growing mysteries to find out the end result. The twins Marc and Julie are born vampires and not made vampires, which in this story was not normal. Julie seemed more reserved than her twin Marc who was inquisitive. Their mother was a human woman named Desert Rose who Conrad fell in love with and had children. But she passes away after their birth.
One of things I really liked in this book was that there was no judgment on who you were within this story. So many stories have discrimination and judgment in them regarding who a person is with that it was refreshing not to see it in this story. The atmosphere is dark and mysterious throughout.
Very interesting story with a lot of flashbacks that give insight to the mystery woman even though I thought there were a too many. This story has so many twists and turns that it was hard to keep them straight at times.
It was an intriguing read.

Title: Spread and Howl Series: N/A Author: Lilith Duvalier Genre: Paranormal / Historical / Fantasy / Dark Romance Length: Novella (120 pages) Publisher: Evernight Publishing (April 10th 2015) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥ 3 Hearts Blurb: Gardenne-Sur-Seine is an unlucky village. A monster known only as The Beast stalks the village by night, leaving bodies and widows in its path. Marius Lemarque, the village stonemason, has lost his family and his lover to this terror, and is determined to learn what The Beast is before he kills it himself.
Guillaume Bissette, the King’s Master of Hunt, also wants to find and kill The Beast. The King would like the head for his trophy room, and fulfilling the King’s wish will strengthen Guillaume’s position at court.
But when Marius and Guillaume join forces to save Gardenne-Sur-Seine from The Beast, they quickly find themselves entangled in a hunt that neither could have imagined, embroiled in a secret neither can disclose, and engulfed by a passion neither expected.
Review: This is the first story that I have read by Lilith and I have to admit that it is a good story. It was however not for me. There was too much darkness and it just came off wrong. I am also not much for historical stories. I want happy stories with danger but this was not hitting the mark with me.
Marius knows that his village is in trouble. It is in the time where a king led but was not a good one. They have had a monster going after everyone and killing those he gets. They had asked the king for help but until the New Year they had been ignored. Now they have sent the Master of Hunt to help. The monster had killed his lover and he was not sure he wanted to go on. That ended when he met the hunter.
Guillaume was sent by the king to kill the monster and bring back its head. He had not expected to meet and actually be attracted to Marius. Things start to heat up with them both, but it is not what I thought or expected. Neither was the beast what the men thought.
I know that Marius was missing his love, but the way he took Guillaume was not right in my book. I was not impressed with that part of the story. It is a love story and you see it in the end but most of the time I was more confused than anything. It is a good story in its way.
If you like historicals and fantasy, then this is going to be your type of story.
