A Spell for Master Vervain by Lee Welch

Apprentice magicians aren’t supposed to fall for their masters, but after a year of longing, Kit is desperate for Master Vervain. Kit casts a forbidden spell to raise an incubus doppelganger of his master—oh, the things he’ll do with that incubus! But Kit’s invoking forces he can’t control and anything can happen when love and magic are mixed.

Finding the Words by Elizabeth Coldwell

On a simple night out, Brendan’s life changed forever. He gave up college lecturing for the world of private tutoring. He may be a virtual recluse, but at least he’s safe. When student Zack approaches him for help with understanding poetry, he’s reluctant to take him on, afraid any connection to his old life might stir up the memories.

Being around Zack awakens long-buried desires in Brendan. He wants to act on his impulse to get closer, but he needs to find the words to say how he really feels.

The Silent Treatment by Elna Holst

Reverend Jane Sinclair has been preaching nothing but fire and brimstone lately. After being dumped by her long-term partner, her mood has been going from bad to worse, and it deteriorates further when her vicar strong-arms her into going off on a yoga retreat. Once she arrives at Serenity Farms, however, the sultry and playfully dominant yoga instructor soon has her singing quite a different tune. A very, very quiet one.

One Small Step by Riza Curtis

Student mage Ilya regrets not paying more attention in class when he teleports two hundred miles instead of the hundred yards he was supposed to go. Concussed, exhausted, and completely underdressed for the bitter winter weather, Ilya is rescued by the handsome Søren.

Sparks fly between the two mages while Ilya recovers, but Ilya must return home. Unable to use his magic and not skilled enough to attempt teleporting back, even if he could, Søren insists on making the journey with him. But train rides and bandits reveal something more between them.

Shedding Doubt by Danielle Wayland

Twenty-six-year-old Grayson is on a mission to get the most out of his gym membership, but when he goes at it too hard on his first day and slips off the treadmill, embarrassment makes him want to quit. Heath, a gym rat, rushes to his aid and offers to help. Initially suspicious of his motives, Grayson reluctantly accepts his help.

The more time they spend together, the more their friendship grows. They both have internal battles keeping them apart, but a Halloween party might just be the place to have a heart-to-heart.

Academic Temptations by Karmen Lee

Twenty-three-year-old Savannah Archer has kept her sexuality buried for years out of fear of being ostracized by her disapproving community. After getting pregnant in high school and putting off college for five years to raise her son, she is finally attending college—away from the prying eyes.

In her first class of the semester, she meets Anetta Springs, who is not only her professor, but also her academic advisor, and the attraction is immediate. Savannah and Anetta both know that the potential consequences of a teacher-student relationship are life-changing, but a book club and a meddling sister may not give them a choice.

The Sidhe’s Apprentice by Morwen Navarre

For anyone serious about magic, studying with a Sidhe Master is essential. Alistair Brady is very serious, and when he’s chosen at a Calling—a search by the Sidhe for new students—he’s elated. However, his assigned Master, Cianán, doesn’t want a new student and makes it painfully obvious.

Despite Cianán’s disdain, Alistair is determined to learn magic. But Alistair has difficulty finding the place inside where magic lives, and even the simplest spells continue to elude him. He just needs to figure out what’s missing, while trying not to let his growing attraction to the cold and aloof Cianán show. It takes a backfiring spell to show both Alistair and Cianán exactly what’s missing to make Alistair’s magic come alive.

Dr. Marissa Muniz worked hard to earn her Ph.D., so she is rightfully outraged when she detects plagiarism in the work of wealthy grad student. When Muniz confronts Libby Highsmith, the young woman begs for a second chance.

Ms. Highsmith must propose a new master’s thesis and design a project to serve as punitive measures. Muniz accepts the thesis proposal but balks at the project—a replica of the paddle used in private schools and a contract promising secrecy.

Review: Kyle and his ex purchased a coffee shop that had been going well. It is going way better now that the ex is out of the picture. However there is a sexy young man that comes into the shop that Kyle has his eye on. When Stephen asks if he would help out at the shelter, well Kyle just wanted to rest. However things might, well your going to have to read it.

It is a very cute little story, perfect for when your taking a break. It just gives you a taste of something good. I do hope this author turns this into a longer story with a bit more to it.

It is a really sweet story that will make you smile.

Review: Xander has had the same dream for some time.  He figured it was from when his husband had died, but there was also the feeling of something else mixed in.  He is a bodyguard and loves his work.  So when he finds out that the man he is about to protect, is the same man from his dream, well things just got interesting.  Now he just needs to make sure the dream never comes true.

Jon has had the worst luck in boyfriends.  The last one wants him dead and he needs help real fast.  He just hadn’t expected Xander.

This is a short story, but there is so much to it that it doesn’t feel that way.  In fact when I looked up the details for this review, I had to double check the page count.  I am not a fan of writing reviews for short stories because of the fear that you give something away. However in this case, the blurb gave out more.  It is a very straight forward type of story with no real twists and turns to it.  It is entertaining as hell, but I can say the ending of the book really sucked.  It felt like a cliff-hanger for later, but who knows if there is going to be another book or not.

Other than the ending, I quite enjoyed it and can see myself reading it more than once.  I had a lot of fun and would recommend it.

Review: Christopher father was a super hero that lost his life.  Then the mayor decided all superhero’s needed to be outlawed.  The problem was Christopher had inherited his father’s abilities.  Then the test came when the man he loved was in danger.

This story had a lot of potential that was not used.  It is way too short and just gives you a taste of what it could be like.  Unanswered questions were all that was left for me.  It is an enjoyable story but felt rushed to me.  Also I noticed in the blurb that his boyfriends name is Johnny, but in the story it is Jimmy so I am guessing some editorial needs to be done just a bit.  Other than my issues with the story, I will admit that it is a fun little read.  I can’t see myself reading it more than once though, which is a shame.

I hope this author turns this book into a novel or novella with more to it.

Review: You never really see to many lion shifters these days, so the idea of this series was really good. I though the main characters and Nora were pretty well developed, although the secondary characters left a bit to be desired. I also love a good paranormal romance story that has murder, kidnapping and so forth. It makes it quite interesting than the normal romance one sometimes gets these days.

Mason is a sexy man who just happens to write some pretty good horror stories. He is getting tired of the same routine though and needs a long rest. So when his editor comes up with a trip for them all, he is somewhat excited and somewhat leery. Here he is going to a beautiful country with a wonderful sight. The best sight for him though is the owner of the hotel.

Xavi is a lion shifter who loves his home and his hotel. He is not a fan of visitors from other countries though. However it would seem that his mate just happens to be the author he is putting up. To his surprise his mate is also human. What would seem like a good plan to romance his mate has turned into danger. It begins with murder and then leads to having his mate kidnapped.

Now I love a good murder mystery added into a romance story, but this one fell flat. I knew who the murderer was before I even made it half way into the story. Also it starts off totally rocking, but then it seemed like the author just rushed the rest of the story. Most of the secondary characters were a bit dull and did nothing for the story at all. Then there was Mason and Xavi, their relationship seemed dull, forced and did not flow like it should.

Also the fact that Xavi was a lion shifter but he did not act like one at all. There was no strength behind him and he seemed more omega then anything. I had hoped for a good, fierce lion shifter who saves his mate, what I got was a dud it would seem.

Now this story had great potential but the follow thru felt off. The mystery would have been better if there had been more to it. The romance and mating was off as well. The whole story just came off wrong. I am sorry but this one was definitely not for me.

Review: Although I usually suggest starting a series with the first book this one is a bit different. Previous characters might be mentioned in the story, each one of these are different characters with plots that are not connected to each other. So whether you start with book one or this one, you won’t get lost.

Connor is a lion shifter and a fire fighter who has finally had it with his commanding officer. The man is a prick who is constantly giving the others hell. So for once he stood up and just punched the man. The problem was it almost cost him his job, but instead got him transferred to another town.

For a long time Connor believed you could not bond with a human, that is until he found a couple who were in fact bonded. Now he wanted a mate for himself. He definitely got his wish, in the form of a sexy man named Andy.

Andy is a detective who feels like he is about to hit rock bottom. He is just not successful at love and doesn’t know if he will ever get there. That is until he meets Connor. The problem is Andy is a human who has no idea of lion shifters, to top it off there is someone who is burning the places around him down.

You get the same old same old, about shifters having to hide their identity from humans as well as matings, but this is a unique series as it is focusing on lion shifters. I loved how Connor is in this story, and enjoy his wicked sense of humor. I love a good paranormal romance that has the ability to make you laugh your ass off. Connor definitely does that for you.

The only problem I had with the story is it does drag in some areas for me. Other than that I enjoyed reading it. I look forward to reading the next story.

Review: Surprising was the fact that even though this book was really short, there was quite a bit to it. Alfie was an Alpaca shifter who from what I gathered never really shifted into his human form, until a fire starts. He had a crush on a human but that human was in love with another. He just hopes that Simon will see him for more than an alpaca.

I hate short stories and trying to tell you about them, without giving the dang thing away. It was a fun little story and had quite a bite to it.

I enjoyed reading it and would definitely recommend it.

Review: This book is first book of a series and should be read in order.

One wild night on New Year’s Eve 1999 was all they had. Kees left Amsterdam after giving his virginity to Arjan. Kees goes on with his life first in London and then in New York City. Until Kees comes back to Amsterdam after fifteen years for a job at a business based there. Little does he know that the owner of the company is none other than Arjan.

Kees is an expert in corporate espionage and Arjan is having a problem with someone selling company secrets. From the first moment the two meet the attraction and draw to each other is still there. The two start-up a relationship as Kees investigates and Arjan explains everything to Kees about why he left him like he did and who is really is. However, there is an old enemy of the lion shifters that is now hunting and killing members of the pride. So things are far from easy for the two MCs.

The sex between the two is nice and hot. There are only minor elements of BDSM, mostly bondage and a little spanking. I loved the rich descriptions of Amsterdam. I liked the story and the intrigue into finding out who is behind the deaths and security issue. The romance between Arjan and Kees is immediately intimate but there is not instant love. They got to know each other first, and Kees still has doubts almost up to the very end. So nothing was perfect from the start and I liked that.

This is the first book I have read by the author, but it will not be the last I don’t think. I look forward to seeing what happens in this series.

Blurb: When Sean Bradley gets an invitation to Dante’s, the most exclusive gay club in town, he doesn’t realize it will change his life forever. This is no ordinary club, and its world of decadent delights is designed to pair wealthy dominant men with cute young submissives. The club’s owner, Dante Capello, is immediately taken with Sean, and sets about leading him into a world of BDSM pleasures, where he will learn how to receive the strictest of punishments and obey without question. But though Dante is a demanding master, he has a reputation for keeping his emotional distance from the boys who submit to him and discarding them after a weekend in his servitude. How far is Sean prepared to go to truly become his?

Warning: This book contains sexual practices that some people may find offensive. Humiliation, unsafe sex, voyeurism etc.

Review: Ok, I have read a lot of BDSM and D/s books and I have never found them offensive, but this book I was disgusted with.

Sean is a relatively innocent young man.   He’s dared one weekend, by his flatmate, to go to a club and that’s when his life changes forever.

The story is quite smooth and moves quickly, Dante was the perfect image for a Dom/Master but his practice was all wrong for a sub/slave that was new to the scene.  No matter what, any Dom/Master or sub/slave has to play safe especially if you have never played with them before; the Safe word is there for a reason.  Sean is a perfect sub/slave but everyone knows that a sub/slave has to find their own level slowly.  the author paid lip service to this then ignored it.

This is the type of story that gives BDSM a bad name.  An innocent walks in off the street and the Dom swoops down, snatches him up, and gives him no choices.   Doesn’t explain what he wants or expects, then proceeds to humiliate him and then throws him away. Yeah, really feeling the love. I don’t know where you did your research, Ms Coldwell, but all those that I know that are into the scene would kick this Dom to the curb and he would be banned from any reputable club. And as for the unsafe sex in the club, do you really think that by saying they get tested monthly is going to make them safe? Geeze, they could be having sex with people not connected to the club, bring a disease in and infect everyone before the next monthly test. Do not even get me started on the naked men being paid to fight and the loser being f***** by the winner.

I would recommend this to people who like the kind of things described above, if you don’t like any of the above then steer clear.

Caution: This book may contain scenes that offend readers Voyeurism and slight humiliation.

Blurb: Jamie Desmond has lied about his ability to ride to land a film role, and now his lack of horsemanship has been exposed he’s scared he’ll be kicked off the set. Luckily, riding instructor Andrej is on hand to give him tuition – but dominant Andrej recognises Jamie’s latent need to submit, and his lessons are about to show Jamie what it means to be ridden hard …

Review: I actually quite liked this book there were a few things that niggled but otherwise it was a good story.
Jamie Desmond lied on his resume and now he’s landed a role where he will have to ride, Andrej is the handler for the horses and he discovers the truth and decides that Jamie will just have to learn. Andrej takes Jamie in hand and shows him exactly what he can do.
The story is interesting and it could have been longer as the two main characters didn’t interact that much besides the riding lessons and sex, so I was a bit disappointed when they declared their love for each other as they didn’t know anything about each other. Again I was not impressed with someone being thrown into BDSM without a safety net and again with the unsafe sex.
But saying that, I would recommend this book for those who like BDSM, D/s, hot sex and a happy ever after.
