Jensen Rivers wasn’t looking for trouble. As the new kid on the block at Clyde’s Body Shop, all Jensen wanted was a job, a place where he could put his head down and ass up.

But Dean ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson plans on getting more than just Jensen’s hands dirty. Reckless and arrogant, drenched in sweat and dripping with a masculinity that cannot be tamed, Hutch is determined to claim victory over his new work colleague – both physically and sexually.

Will Jensen risk everything to find the love trapped behind Hutch’s fearless façade? Will Hutch bury the secret tragedy of his past before he throws away his last chance at a future? Will the dangers that confront them both be enough to tear them apart… or bring them together forever?

Review: Diane is a new author to me and I was not really sure what to think or expect. However I have to tell you that it was a fun book but very different than normal. I only know of very few stories involving angels so not really sure what to expect. I am just glad there were no religious factors with it.

The characters are well written and fully developed if not strange. In fact it was a bit confusing with all of the twists to it. Drake was an angel and his job was to protect his charge. He just hadn’t realized that Grey was not what he expected. Grey was a shock to the angel’s world.

Like I said the story can be a bit confusing but it does roll together in the end. I truly enjoyed it and look forward to seeing what other stories this author has out. It was a cute little love story that just pulls you in and leaves you satisfied at the end.

I would definitely recommend it.

Review: This is a new author for me and I have to tell you I was impressed. Not only was it the perfect length, it had an endearing tone to it, gorgeous men, sexy times and a bit of laughter.

Mark had been with his girlfriend Rachel for quite a while now, and his mother was pushing for marriage. The problem was he was not sexually attracted to women, give him a man and he is good though. However he had not ever been with one, so he was a bit lost on that front also. Rachel was angry at first, but they were friends before lovers so she gave him a thumbs up. When the movers came to take his stuff to his new place, he was not only surprised by one of the sexy men, but turned the hell on.

Jamie has known he was gay since he was little, and it was no surprise to his family either. When helping Mark move his belongings to his new home, he asked him out. Friends with benefits and all that. Then it turns into something more. Their nothing serious turns into majorly hot and very tempting.

I absolutely loved this and look forward to the next book. It caught my attention from the start and kept it all the way to the end. It also gave me everything I could want in the book. I had a great time with it and can’t wait to see what else this amazing author has out. I would definitely recommend it.

As theriomorphs in the service of Gaia, Tyr Gustavson and his lover Aaron fought against the vampires aiding the Third Reich during WWII. Lost in his pain, Tyr remained feral until he was unwillingly recalled to Gaia’s service seventy years later.

In the forests of the night…

When fighter pilot Adam Carson’s plane was shot down, he thought the worst that could happen was being sent to a Nazi prison camp. Adam was turned against his will and trapped in a coffin as punishment for his resistance.

What immortal hand or eye…

While hunting ghouls, Tyr and his colleagues discover Adam’s prison. Believing he could be an asset, Marielle Du Lac frees him. Adam joins the team and is drawn to Tyr, despite Tyr’s hatred of vampires. When Tyr rejects Adam out of fear, Adam accepts a suicidal mission to find Thrace, the original nosferatu. Review: Adam Carson is taken prisoner after his pane is shot down. Only to be taken to Elizabeth during a transport where he’s turned. After the turnng he’s put in a coffin where he stays for a long time. Tyr has been feral and grieving since losing his other half. Now many years later he’s approached with a task to locate Elizabeth.

I loved Adam and Tyr. Tyr grief stricken even now and Adam who finds himself drawn to Tyr. But this story is not all romance and flowers. There is still the ongoing hunt to find Elizabeth and do away with her. Suspenseful and mysterious this story takes you on an adventure where all is not as it seems. The characters are intriguing and fascinating.

Even though some are highly questionable in their actions they all added that special element to bring the story into the light. I truly enjoyed this story and looking forward to reading more.

Great read.

Review: This was a very sweet and believable love story that incorporated the holiday spirit and the magic of Christmas for an ending that will make you go AWWWW!!!

Jason is an ex NFL player who suffered an injury that put an end to his career early on and destroyed his dreams for the future. In order to heal his broken heart, Jason takes up knitting and comes to love it. He is now the owner of a yarn store; Jason loves to give classes on how to knit to the women and men who are interested.

All Tomy Peralta got for Christmas is a broken heart. His boyfriend not only refused to accept his marriage proposal, but he broke up with him in order to pursue his dreams. Can knitting help Tomy put his broken heart back together like it helped Jason when he needed it?

I don’t know about that, but the relationship and friendship that form between our main characters sure will. Their romance develops slowly and sweetly, in the span of a year and it’s very believable. I liked the knitting and the dancing, and I loved how it brought them close together.

The main characters are likeable and supportive, and overall it was a pretty good story. I would’ve liked some tension and maybe a little bit of angst. This story is a little too sweet for my taste and some parts were downright cheesy, but I still enjoyed reading it.

Review: Each book in The Looking Glass collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

For many years Simon has been the keeper of the magic mirror. A mirror that showed one their true love, but for Simon it just seemed empty. He wanted someone to love him and a chance to finally be let out of his duties. Then in walks a man, who takes one look in the mirror and see’s Simon.

Alex owns a security company that protects buisness from shoplifters. He was out in his punk look searching for new business that needed help. He had not expected to meet Simon, a very sexy young man who definitely didn’t want anything to do with him.

This is a cute little story but it was also very long winded to me. I almost put the book down, because it just seemed like it was never going to end. There is a connection to the guys, but I just didn’t feel it like a reader should. I guess I could see why Simon was pissed, but the man acted like an idiot though. He knew his job, but he also expected to been shown, and it bit him on the ass, so to speak. He didn’t trust and was snarly towards Alex, but in the end it was pretty good. I just wished it didn’t seem to long a step to get there.

Other than my issues with this story, it is well written with a magical touch. It is also a very unique type of story that will draw a reader in and keep them captivated. I also liked the little twists that seemed to happen for one of the other characters. I didn’t much care for the story, but it is a pretty good read.

Blurb: The second Brenn saw Joey’s image in the magic mirror, he was hooked. The moment he saw him in real life, Brenn knew Joey was going to be his forever. Joey was flirty, and fun, and he had the most gorgeous smile, but then Joey told him he was dying. Though devastated, Brenn didn’t want to give up on Joey, so he offered to look after him and make his last few days as comfortable as possible, but was that going to be enough when all Brenn really wanted was for Joey to live?

Brenn was everything Joey could have wished for; strong, built, and with amazing eyes, and Brenn was in love with him. That would have given Joey something to live for, if it hadn’t been too late. He had about three weeks left, but that didn’t seem to matter to Brenn. Brenn wanted to take him home, and Joey was willing to go with him, but on two conditions. He wanted Brenn to make love to him before he died, but no kissing.

Review: This is book two in this series and they need to be read in order. Usually it gives you an insight into the characters and their world, but in this particular series it tells you about the mirror. A mirror that shows someone their one true love. Simon is the keeper of the mirror and he guides the ones who come stumbling in, not sure why but they do and gives them the answers. Brenn is not like anyone I have ever met. He walked into the store and Simon showed him the mirror. It shows him a young man that will be his.

He looks for him, and finds the sexiest man he had ever seen. However he realizes Joey is in a wheelchair, and then Joey drops the bomb on him. Joey is dying of a disease that no one understood and there was no cure. Brenn decides right then and there that he wanted this man for however long he could have him. He goes to the hospital and brings him home with him. He shows him the love that he has for him and helps him. He loves this man more than anything in the world, but it was tearing him apart to know he only had a few weeks with him.

Joey was falling in love with Brenn but he was so scared. He was scared because he didn’t want to die and he didn’t want to leave Brenn alone. He got so scared one night that he had called his friends to come get him, because he didn’t want to hurt Brenn even more than he already knows he has. What he doesn’t realizes is his very first kiss would be the man who can save him. That was the only thing he never let anyone do, he had never been kissed.

This story made me cry more than I have at any other time. I felt the pain that both of these men felt. The pain of losing someone that you love would tear anyone apart, and knowing that Brenn would feel this way when Joey died just about made me loose it. And Joey had been young and vibrant, a life guard at one time to find out that he was dying and none of the medicine or treatment would save his life. He had given up and was just waiting, but he looked at life around him like a child at a fare. He still saw goodness in the things around him. He wished that he had Brenn with him before he had made the choice to stop all the treatments, and now he was scared to try again. To know all that would break any ones heart.

I loved this book and I can guarantee that you will too. It gives you two very sexy men who love each other, tenderness, compassion, feisty young men, and a touch of pain, but in the end there is a happiness that will steal your breath.

I loved it and cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in this series. It caught my attention from the moment I started reading it and kept it all the way to the end.

Review: There is a lot going on in this story. Ghost is a witch’s apprentice and learning everything he can. Gerry is a hunter. He ends up hurt and in Ghost’s care. The two hit it off. But danger lurks close by and the two end up squaring off against the one who kidnaps Gerry to get to Ghost.

I liked the story but felt at times there was too much going on and not enough explanations for other things. The story is cut off abruptly after the final scene finishes. I assume the next book will pick up where this one leaves off.

Interesting read with plenty of characters interwoven throughout as well plenty of interaction between the characters.

Great read.

Blurb: Marc’s straight, always has been and thought he always would be, but when he’s shown his true love in a magic mirror he’s shocked to find out his true love is a man. Not only that, it’s up to him to convince his true love they’re meant to be together. All bad enough, but after finding Liam, the only way he’s able to persuade Liam to go out with him is to offer him sex — even though that’s something Marc’s definitely not ready for.

Liam thinks Marc is crazy. Marc’s straight but he’s talking about true love and making a life together. Liam doesn’t believe in love and he certainly isn’t going to fall in love with a crazy straight guy regardless of how sexy he is. But he hasn’t reckoned on Marc’s pushy attitude or his offer of sex which, no matter how much he knows he should, Liam can’t turn down.

Purchase Link: Amazon US | Amazon UK | Smashwords

Review: Penny Brandon just blew my mind. This story came off so possible and real that I was amazed with it. Well not the looking in a mirror and being told about a true love part but the difficulties that Liam had with it. He didn’t believe in love and never dated any man. He just had hook-ups and right after wards he left them.

His mother had loved his father, did everything the man wanted even though her husband, his father did everything he could do to destroy her and her love. He would not leaver her but he cheated on her at every turn. Liam had tried everything to get his mother to leave, but wouldn’t. He knew that to love someone would place your self in the path of being hurt. He would not take the chance ever.

That was until a man comes up to him and tells him of a story. A story that made him think the man was insane. Marc tells him about walking into a store and looking in a mirror and being showed his true mate. The fact that Marc was straight also made him wonder if the man shouldn’t get help. But he realizes that Marc is serious. The problem was he did not want to hurt this man.

Marc knew what Liam thought about what he had told him, but he had to take the chance. He had to show Liam that he could and would love him. He found out why Liam didn’t believe in love, so he sets out to show him and prove to him that he could have it.

This story absolutely blew my mind. For so long I believed the same thing Liam believes. That love doesn’t exist, but in this story it shows you how it can happen and that it does happen. I can not wait to get my hands on the next book in this series. It captured my attention with the first sentence and kept it all the way to the end. Once you read this, you won’t be able to wait till the next book. I can guarantee that once you read it you will fall in love with these two men as I have. It gives you two sexy and quirky men, tenderness, a fantasy, excitement, adventure and a love that will draw you in.

Review: Each book in the Shoes & Ties collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Jesse has always dated women and never considered a man, well maybe there was this one time but still. Then he comes across a sexy detective who at first he thought was screwing his brothers boyfriend, but figured out real fast that he was definitely in the wrong. So what has he been doing, stalking that sexy detective. Hadn’t figured out how to approach him, but the dog took care of that.

Troy has always been an amazing detective but he has been hiding a part of him from the others. He has seen the prejudice and never wanted to chance it. Jesse makes him think hard about it and the fact that Duke has disowned him, he might think a little harder.

If it were me I would keep Duke and make Troy work for it. This story was a blast to read and was quite interesting. I don’t get the fun of running, but can you imagine a sexy man in just some shorts and tank top, talk about hot. It didn’t give me all that I could want but it came close. The title doesn’t do the book justice but the story makes up for it.

I think that I have found another favorite author. Jena has a gift of telling stories. It was wrote with such heart that you can tell from the first word. It caught my attention from the start and kept it all the way to the end. So much so that I read it one more time before dinner. I laughed at parts of it, and at the serious parts I wanted to smack Troy.

I had a blast reading it and can’t wait to get to reading the next book.

Review: Just absolutely wow. Ashten and his twin are pretty amazing and damn can that man cook. He graduated and earned two degrees by the age of twenty-three, and his only goal was to be a personal chef. He could work for any restaurant he wanted but it wasn’t what his heart wanted. He just had not expected his new boss to be so damn hot.

Trent spends his life pretty much at work and doesn’t really cook at all. In fact the man could burn water. He just hadn’t expected the sexy man who is now his chef to be more than what he expected, but that man was. After one disaster, he was afraid to trust a new employee, but then again Ashten wasn’t just an employee.

I can not believe that I have not read this author’s work before now. At first I was thinking that it was just going to be a bit boring with very little to spice it up. However the excitement from the guys and the danger made the whole story just pop out. It gave me all that I could ask for and a surprising little twist. Although the title was a bit boring and almost made me not want to look at it, the story itself was a nice surprise.

I enjoyed reading it and can’t wait to get started on the next book.

Blood Bathory: Absence of the Sun

(The Guardians of Gaia 02)
by

Ari McKay

Tyger tyger, burning bright…

As theriomorphs in the service of Gaia, Tyr Gustavson and his lover Aaron fought against the vampires aiding the Third Reich during WWII. But even the fierceness of Tyr’s tiger form couldn’t save Aaron from being torn apart when a mission went horribly wrong. Lost in his pain, Tyr remained feral until he was unwillingly recalled to Gaia’s service seventy years later.

In the forests of the night…

When fighter pilot Adam Carson’s plane was shot down, he thought the worst that could happen was being sent to a Nazi prison camp. Little did he know there were other monsters in the shadows, and one of them wanted to claim him. But refusing Elizabeth Bathory had a price.

If their desperate plan works, the theriomorphs could destroy not only Elizabeth, but the sire of all vampires as well. But if it fails, they could unleash a force leading to the destruction of them all… and perhaps of Gaia herself.

Prime’s Review: ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 Hearts

Kate McMurray is one of those authors where I like to check out the blurb of a new (to me) book and is slowly becoming a definite favorite on my ever growing list of favorite authors. She does sweet and heartwarming romances for the most part. They are the type of thing that you sit down with your book/device and just pass your time pleasantly reading the extraordinarily sweet characters that emerge from her very ordinary and very relatable world.

The Boy Next Door is a second edition, of which I did not read the first edition so not sure what has changed. It is about Lowell who goes back to his hometown to care for his mother, who seems to be getting rather forgetful, after the death of his father. His father was not a kind man in life and so in death his ghost does affect his relationship with both his mother and the town. The surprise Lowell gets though is that his new neighbor is Jase. They were friends as children and as teens Lowell had had a massive crush on Jase.

Jase seems to be very straight. The evidence is still there with his recent divorce and a little girl dominating most of his time and thoughts. But Jase has a massive secret and sees the strength in the out of the closet Lowell – he’s gay, has known all his life but has tried for many years to hide that part of himself. With Lowell’s return Jase has got to confront his feelings and the manipulative people in his life if he wants a quick hook up with his friend to be a lot more.

The chemistry between these two guys is great. There is a certain depth of emotion that makes it so easy to not only relate to both Lowell and Jase, but to see that the thick sexual tension between them is more than a fling. I really liked the drama that happens between the guys – it goes to add to the feeling that certain people in Jase’s life are not only homophobic but manipulative as well. It adds a lot of depth to Jase’s character.

This book lived up to my expectations; ultimately, it was a sweet and heartwarming romance that worked on all levels.

Lisa’s Review ♥♥♥ 3 Hearts

Lowell and Jase were friends when they were children but grew apart once they were in high school.  Now several years later there is a chance to rebuild that friendship. Lowell has moved back home to help his mother.  He just happens to live next door to Jase.

Jase is raising his daughter, while dealing with his bitch of an ex who is threatening to keep him away from his kid.  As long as no one knows that he likes men, then there will be no problems.  Well there is a big problem, he wants his old friend.

Now the story is like real life for some men.  However it didn’t do anything for me.  The story had no appeal for me and I had trouble keeping my attention on it.  The characters were pretty good with enough depth to make them stand out.  Even the fighting is pretty real throughout the story but that is about all there was to it.  The ending was a bit off and I had trouble connecting the two together.

Jase has enough guilt to drown the whole town.  He feels responsible for everyone and everything.  His ex-wife is a bitter bitch who wants to control him.  He is nasty sometimes to Lowell, and if I was Lowell I would just kick his ass to the curb.  To top it off Lowell comes off as a wimp to me.  I could not connect with either character.  Which was a depressing thought.

I was left with more questions then answers with this story.  Also there was just something about the way the story was wrote that reminded me of a newbie just starting out.  I mean what was with the short statements and crazy questions that one finds in this book.  So basically this is one of those stories that I skimmed through because I just couldn’t get into it at all.  I am afraid that this was one book that was just not for me.
