Review: This is a cute collection of four short stories. Each is hot, has a sense of humor and fun to read. You can read one at a time for a quick read to fill a short period of time or settle down for the night and enjoy them all at once.

Mud on Tires

Lee is on the way to town when he spots a cow stuck in the mud. He has no spare clothes so he strips naked and proceeds to try to get her out. Collin is out shopping for land when he spots the cute little cowboy but naked trying to free a cow.

This story was so funny. It’s packed full of animal cuteness with three dogs and of course the stuck cow.  I absolutely loved the hilarious and sexy story.

Just Like in the Movies

Dooley is a washed out rodeo rider that now works as a horse handler in the movies. He meets Ty who is closeted and things heat up for them.  This one is sweet and it goes over a long period of time not an insta love type thing.   There are still the horses and it’s hot.  I really liked it a lot.

Ricochet When Holt decides to leave Dave and the city to go back west to home, Dave begs him to stay. Holt is dead set on leaving and so Dave decides to help him out… the dead part. Teague comes to help drive Holt home and plans to never let his cowboy leave again.

This one starts out with a bit of a shock. I really liked the characters in this story. I liked how after all these years apart they build something solid and find what home really is.

No Bull Joss has been trampled by a bull in Hawaii and in bad shape. His best friend Mackey stays at his side and even takes time off from the circuit to help him heal. Joss realizes he is too old and too tired to ride and travel but doesn’t want to let Mackey down. Mackey has a plan of his own. Can they include each other?

This one is another really cute story. It’s a story of friends, men realizing their dreams and some hot sex too.

All of these stories are really good. If you like cowboys, friends to lovers, and hot mansex you will love these stories.

Or is it?

How else could a stolen guitar or a lost shoe lead to love?

What but magic could spark romance at a workplace assessment?

Or turn a mean-spirited monster into a man?

Six fairytales and myths are given a contemporary M/M twist in this collection of stories, proving that sometimes the mundane can be magical, too.

Review: I don’t know what I was really expecting but I can tell you that it was not these six stories. I have never been a fan of anthologies and I am afraid that the idea has not changed. I am also not a fan of fairy tales, even if it involves gorgeous men. I have to admit though that the first one was a laugh.

DRAGGED INTO LOVE ♥♥♥3 Hearts

When Theo’s landlord steals a prized guitar in lieu of rent owed, he informs Theo he will return the instrument on one condition: he wants a date with Theo’s twin sister.

Except that there is a twist to it all. His sister has another idea on how to get back what was his. However he finds out that there is a bit more going on.

Now this is a cute story but way to damn short for anything other than a taste. I wouldn’t mind if it was made into an actual story but as it is, I was disappointed in it. It has a little plot or story line but mainly it just didn’t go well with me.

LOVE’S CODE ♥♥♥3 Hearts

Andre must pass the examination if he wants to keep his job. However, he is distracted by his unspoken love for fellow programmer, Eren.

This was way too short to get anything more than just a tease from it. Andre has a goal but the one that interest him is distracting him big time. It is kind of a cute little story, but doesn’t really do anything for me.

GUESSING GAMES ♥♥♥3 Hearts

Sasha told a little white lie in his job interview and it won him the role. Only now he is faced with a pile of work he doesn’t know how to complete.

Well in one part at least it will teach Sasha a lesson but in the other damn he gets his man. This is just too damn short to actually get into. I was a bit disappointed in it.

ASSIGNATIONS AND ULTIMATUMS ♥♥♥3 Hearts

Hunter and Ross are in love, but Ross’ father keeps trying to set him up with undesirable, yet powerful, older men, the latest of whom happens to be Ross’ boss.

I just don’t get it, why have a great idea and make it a short story. I mean it is not just short but very short. It was a dang tease. These two were hot together but damn it was a bust.

LOST AND FOUND ♥♥♥3 Hearts

Cillian is dreading the work masquerade ball, but once there he finds himself romanced by a dashing stranger, only to flee when he discovers the man’s identity.

A masquerade ball and the little man loses his shoe and the prince will find him. I mean fairy tales sounding. Which I suppose it was one just a bit changed. It was too damn short to get anything more than just a taste.

A DEBT IS A DEBT ♥♥♥3 Hearts

Dunstan Griffin is not a man to let a debt slide, so when debtor Alfred Siskin offers the EA services of his son, Wynn, in lieu of payment, Dunstan accepts.

I know the feeling of needing to pay off a debt but damn this was just twisted. I am sorry but it was not even appeasing at all.

Overall

I gave each story a three but to me they were actually a two heart rating. For one they were just a teaser and didn’t really give me a story at all. Then they are based off of fairy tales with a twist. Which for me was a disappointment all the way around.  I just couldn’t even get into it and that is saying a lot considering that they were so damn short.

Review: I have read a few books by this author and was amazed with the worlds she creates. This one you actually get two stories mixed into one book. Not only will they have you laughing your ass off but will also have you guessing. They are fun to read and perfect for cheering you up.

In Dogwood Days, Jefferson has left his home and moved back to Holly Creek. He moved there when his favorite uncle had a little accident but now it has made him the happiest man around. He has found the man he loves and everyone in town just loves him. He is also going to help them with their festivals.

Now it is a cute little quirky story that will have you laugh at the man. It seems he just has a way about him.

Then in Spring Fever he is helping his neighbors with the Rose Festival and trying to figure out what his sexy man is hiding. One mention of another man and Jefferson and Clover are on the hunt to find out more about him. It would seem his ass is jealous. However When Troy and Clover get in the same room, talk about fireworks.

This was one of the best stories I have come across in a few days and I was happy to read it. Although I have to say that it being an ARC cover and not finished kind of sucked. First off I would have loved to see the two hotties and gotten a look at it. Then it was a bit hard to read because it wasn’t fully finished but I got to tell you that I definitely want the final story.

This was one story I would definitely recommend.

Review: This a great book about Hogarth and Rook as each story unfolds we get a closer look into both their lives. It is both serious and humorous at times. I loved how well-developed the characters were and how they seemed to fit together perfectly.

Of course along the way there are things that happen that make you think about the situations as they occur. In Pawn Takes Rook is where Rook and Hogarth meet after Rook is attacked and disgraced. In Cashing the Reality Check both are looking to enter the alliance but are refused.

Conventional Love takes us on a journey where a superhero turned villain decides to try his hand at world domination no matter the cost. What The Water Gave Me is a sad tale of a friend’s murder and the thoughts of what could have been done if only they had tried harder to communicate with Timmy. Hindsight is always 20/20.
Miracle in Axis City is a cute Christmas short with a lot of warm feelings and hot sex.
Each of these stories is great but when read together makes the book seem so much better.

Those who dare to scratch the surface of ordinary, everyday life may be horrified to find a sick underbelly beneath—a nightmare world populated by villains and victims, predators and prey, where the rules of society no longer apply.

Where you’ll find people like Danny, the boy who sells himself to pay for his father’s gambling debts and ends up in a situation more twisted than he ever imagined. Or Troy, the cop whose obsession with saving a brutalized human trafficking victim turns deadly. Or Drew, the mental patient who begins to suspect his nightly delusions of abuse by his doctor are actually real. Or David, the cuckolded husband who decides the best way to get revenge is to seduce his wife’s barely legal son.

Stealing Innocents is an exploration of our darkest human impulses, where sex is power, love is horror, and there’s no such thing as a happy ending.

General Review: I found myself a little underwhelmed by this collection and I think part of the reason is that this would have made sense with the stories in a different order. These are shorts set within the universe of Angela Benedetti’s Sentinel series. But I’ve decided to give the benefit of the doubt and I am going to assume to get the full effect of the story, I should probably go back to the start of it all to get a real sense of the goings in on in this world.

Chasing Fear ♥♥♥♥3 ½ Hearts
Review: This one has an interesting setting – feels rather mystical and spooky. We meet Emilio and his lover Martin. Maybe I’m a little bit jaded when it comes to my MM book, but what this essentially boils down to is that on Halloween Martin wants to have sex in public but there’s this shady area of consent because of Emilio’s fears. Sure, it’s good, but I personally found it difficult to connect to the characters. Despite being set in the universe of the Sentinels series, I felt I needed a broader introduction about these guys who were otherwise unknown to this universe.

Catching Courage ♥♥♥♥ 3 ½ Hearts
Review: In this second short we are back with Emilio and Martin. I think to some extent my comments of a broader introduction for the guys being needed still applies here, but this story was much easier to get into the characters. After having difficulty connecting to especially Martin in Chasing Fear I was more than relieved that I was finally able to connect to his character and relate. Now the guys are spending New Year’s Eve with Martin’s family in this charming vignette.

Reach Out and Touch ♥♥♥ 3 Hearts
Review: Third story and we now move onto a second couple, this time apprentice mage Cal and master mage, Aubrey, who is also Cal’s master. Okay, this is a different and certainly interesting story, but it is told by Cal because Aubrey is elsewhere and Cal decides to cast some magic he isn’t ready to do. In a funny way, it comes down to me thinking, this couple needs to communicate.

I wish there could have been more Aubrey because he appears at the end and other than being thought/ spoken of by Cal he doesn’t really get a good introduction. There’s some intriguing interacting between the couple, where Cal describes Aubrey as amazing I feel that we just don’t get enough time to see him beyond being a grumpy mage.

Unfinished Business ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts
Review: And we are once again back with Cal and Aubrey. Once again, this story is told by Cal for the most part. It is cute and sexy and, unlike the previous story, it was really easy to see the dynamics in their relationship. An interesting bit, I’ve discovered that this story is based on a scene in the novel that set up this universe, Hidden Magic, where it has now been expanded for the purpose of this story and now told from Cal and Aubrey’s POV.

Candy Courage ♥♥♥♥ 3 ½ Hearts
Review: This is fun Halloween short. This time we meet Glenn, he’s divorced and wants to spend some time with his son, so takes him trick or treating. Glenn, like any adult, wants a bit of the lollies too, so swipes some of his son’s without the knowledge that they got it from alchemist who likes to add a bit of extra something. It’s the added courage that leads to the MM portion of the story, hence the title of the story.

It’s certainly a fun read especially once we meet Neal and see Glenn come out of his shell. I think it might be charming especially those that can relate to the shyness of flirting with someone they like.

Birthdays Suck ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts
Review: In this final story we meet Paul MacAllister, it is like a prequel intro to the novel Hidden Magic. In this, it’s Paul’s birthday and he doesn’t like them because he has not developed any magical powers which means he cannot be a Sentinel, protector of the mortal realm. Everyone has had a horrible birthday where things don’t go your way and that made it really easy to relate to.

One criticism though, this collection would have been better off if this was the first story and acted as the introduction to the piece. Not only is it a prequel to the novel these shorts are based around, it is also a really helpful prequel to the world that we meet in the rest of the short. After reading this all of a sudden things fell into place and the previous five stories finally made sense to me.

Blurb: Get ready for three stories from Nurse Haven Tucker’s world! In CODE SWITCHING, Haven and his dancer lover Tadeo have spent four years living their happy-ever-after, raising their son and making a discreet home in Sister City. When a friend and patient dies of a rare pneumonia, their secure life is threatened. Attacks — and support — emerge from unexpected quarters in this story set at the dawn of the AIDS crisis.

André is a confused and angry fourteen-year-old boy whose aunt rescues him from state care after the death of his mother and takes him to live with her motley extended family in a ramshackle old house. Against the backdrop of plans for a most unconventional wedding, André finds himself increasingly helpless to resist the charms of his eccentric aunt, moody grandfather, and sexy tutor. VADE MECUM is ultimately about finding a place to be oneself and to belong without question.

Finally, in LAST DANCE, high school teacher Suyai has spent months helping his school’s Gay-Straight Alliance members win the right to attend prom with the dates of their choice. Now none of them will get out on the dance floor until Suyai goes first. What’s an out and proud – but woefully single – teacher to do?

Review: Haven: Generations is a collection of three stories which are sequels to the book Haven. The stories here are obviously in the right order, but I recommend reading Haven first because there will be some details that you will miss.

My overall rating for the book is 4-hearts and likewise, each story I have happily rated 4 hearts each.

First off there is Code Switching, this is story carries on from the first book, Haven. We are thrown back into the lives of Haven and Tadeo and it is completely charming and very emotional. In four years Haven and Tadeo have built themselves a comfortable life in an unexpectedly eclectic neighbourhood. Tadeo’s son, Suyai, is also there and he is completely adorable. The emotion of this story, however, comes from that this is based on the emerging threat AIDS/HIV was to the gay community in the late 70’s – early 80’s.

Next is Vade Mecum. This is another charming story, which drives the message of the importance of love and family. At first it does not seem directly related to Code Switching and the characters, but it is. It’s now 14 years after Code Switching and Suyai (Tadeo and Haven’s son) has grown into an intelligent and good-looking guy who is in grad school.

However, it is Andre that is the main character. He also happens to be a gorgeous character (inside and out). He’s a confused teen in a world that is changing and you don’t need to be gay to appreciate or relate to his issues.

Finally, we end with Last Dance. We back to following Suyai, now a little older and working as a high school teacher. He’s certainly inherited a lot of his personality from his father’s and is a wonderful and enjoyable character to read in any of these shorts.

Now that he has helped the gay/lesbian population of the school attend the prom with same sex dates, he needs to find a date for himself. It’s a fitting end to the series and ends in a similar spirit to how it started with Haven and Tadeo.

The reappearance/mention of previous characters really wraps things up nicely.

Review: I have to say with the title of the collection of stories and the blurb I was expecting some high fantasy stories. Unfortunately while the story were works of fantasy, they were not what I expected when word like magical were tossed about in the blurb. Two of the stories were rather mundane and the other I would have classified Science Fiction.

Mr. Fix It (♥♥ 2 Hearts) was robotic Sci-Fi taken to the extreme. The consumer, Max (who owns a Nanotech consulting firm (To the Max), receives an android when he ordered a robot vacuum cleaner. The Android is programmed to dominate Max. The Android ends up fixing Max’s penis and Max’s company goes in a new direction. The costumer service scenes are a hoot and remind me of modern-day automated costumer service.

Rock N Roll 4 Ever (♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts) deals with a young man, Jonas, who owns a car that is haunted by Rock and Roll Legends the ones who are there most often are Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley, and Janice Joplin. He is having money problem and is close to selling the car, A 1959 Cadillac convertible.

The ghosts take matters into their hands and lead Jonas to the beach, where Kai, a surfboard painter and surfer, is surfing and they get together and hit off romantically and musically. There sound together is great and soon they are successful. The scene where Kai finally sees/meets the ghosts is great.

Hell town (♥♥♥ 3 Hearts) Hoke is a protector of a town in purgatory based on the old west. He is responsible for making sure that the souls living there are not compelled to go to either hell or heaven against their will. One of the things he has to do is keep the hell born beasts from attacking and killing the souls in his town.

When the story opens, he smells the presence of Shiloh, his lover when he was alive on earth and the man he believes killed him.

Was too short to be amazing, but still an enjoyable read.

Review: Are you lonesome tonight? Never fear, the trusty dating app FIND’M is right there at your fingertips, promising a night of no strings attached fun with a handsome stranger. Beware though, the price for the anonymity that comes with the ease of hooking up with the online app could very well be your life.

This collection of dark stories will make you stop, think, and proceed with caution before using any type of dating app again! These twelve original and horrifying stories are equal parts intriguing and frightening while remaining cohesive to the overall feel of the dark side of the online dating world.

The writing was extremely descriptive from the killer in the park tearing into his unsuspectingly willing victim’s flesh, to the torn lover that lures men to his home to feed his lovers insatiable appetite.

While each part is super short, Graves did a great job of setting the stage appropriately for each story individually and then tying them all together with the common thread, the FIND’M dating app.

I caution reading any of these stories in the dark, or just before bed, or if you yourself use an online dating app. But I do recommend this book especially for fans of creepy, suspenseful, horror stories.

Splitting the Difference ♥♥♥ Hearts
Singer and songwriter Dane is home in West Texas for his sister’s wedding. He’s not thrilled to be back in his childhood home, but when he meets up with his old buddy Kent, things begin to look up. Kent has changed a lot since they were kids, but Dane still thinks he’s hot, and the two find out they still have a lot in common. Will they have the time to become more than just friends?

Review: Nice short story about two childhood friends who could have been more sooner, if one hadn’t left town to become a star. Dane left his childhood hometown behind for Nashville to become a famous singer, leaving behind his friend Kent. Dane found his fame, and Kent found some trouble – I guess that’s what happens to the town “queer boy”.

Dane is back for his little sister’s wedding where he meets Dane again. While not an actual happily-ever-after type of ending, it’s enough to get an idea of what’s going on for these two hunky Texans.

Nothing But Trouble ♥♥♥♥3.5 Hearts
Bryce is an old west bank robber, on his way back to Texas for trial. When he meets up with young deputy Abel, he notices right off that the man is fascinated with him. Bryce issues a challenge that Abel can’t refuse, offering to teach the young man a thing or two about pleasure in exchange for going free. Will Abel turn out to be nothing but trouble?

Review: This story is good for what it is. It’s an illicit romp between a law man and a criminal in the Wild West. I can’t say there was anything about it that I didn’t like. I just think the length of the story meant that I knew it was going to be over pretty quickly. Also, law man and criminal, there’s rarely a happily ever after when it comes to that combo. Well, there might be a few Wild West solutions to the problem anyway, one which gives us a satisfying conclusion.

Acting Out ♥♥♥♥4 Hearts
Bull rider and adrenaline junkie Colby is mid-jump in his ATV when his old rooming buddy Sean drives back into his life, sending him flying off his vehicle. Sean wants Colby to come to Hawaii for a charity event. Colby agrees to attend, but only if he and Sean can share a room again, just like in the old days.

Can these two rough-riding cowboys recapture a piece of the past, or can they do even better this go-round?

Review: An enjoyable, sexy short story. My only problem is the short part of it all. Colby Dannis is a bull rider, although he’s partial to any daring stunt to get the adrenaline pumping. Sean Landry is Colby’s former friend and lover. As said in the blurb, Sean wants Colby to attend an event in Hawaii.

Colby and Sean’s past gives this story a boost of emotion and tension. The chemistry between the couple is great. The stark difference in character of the two men was a drawing point and what made them as a couple. But as I said, it was just too short for my liking although the ending will satisfy most.

Crash and Burn ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 Hearts
Danny’s career in Motocross is over, thanks to a bad pair of knees, and maybe too much hard living. When his sponsors and friends take off, all he has left is his pain in the butt assistant, Todd. He’s never seen Todd in the light he does now, but it may be too late. Todd thinks Danny has a new life, one he has no place in. Can they see how much they need each other before they crash and burn?

Review: It’s hard not to feel sorry for motocross rider, Danny, in this short story. He’s the classic description of lonely celebrity. When the goings tough, he has no one he can turn to, expect for his PA Todd. Danny is wallowing in self-pity and the only person he has to help is Todd.

At first, Todd just comes across as though he is part of the background, or part of the furniture, which is good because that is how Danny sees him. However, it is also clear from what he has to put up with, that Todd is very understanding, compassionate, loyal and caring. Sounds like the perfect man to me!

All I can say is that this is an excellent story. If adrenaline junkies are your thing, then this short story is for you.

Mind in the Middle ♥♥♥♥3.5 Hearts
Tyler Anderson is on track for winning it all in the bull riding championships this year, if he can just get over being dumped by another rider. Veteran rider Andy West wants to see Ty succeed, and he knows all about how fickle Tyler’s ex can be. When the two of them get together, Andy is determined to shore up Tyler’s confidence, and show the young champ that some men can be faithful. Will Tyler win it all in the end?

Review: Tyler Anderson is definitely having a rough patch in his career, despite the fact that he is so close to winning the bull riding championships. He’s had an injury and a bad draw, but he’s also having man problems. Enter Andy West, a real sweetie who really just starts looking out for Tyler as a friend.
A really quick read, I can’t say that there is a true HEA – that is left to the imagination. It’s a bit of a hot romp between two hot cowboys.

Review: When I first started reading this, I had thought it was just one story, but to my surprise, it is in fact the whole Streets of Fire Series and I was captivated by them. I had an absolute blast reading them and cannot wait to check out the rest of Jenna’s stories. The characters were absolute sexy and you can’t help but falling in them.

Dancing In the Dark ♥♥♥♥♥5Hearts
Detective Nick D’Amato has always been content with his lack-of-commitment love life. For a gay cop in the don’t ask-don’t tell N.Y.P.D., free and easy always seemed the least complicated route.

William, the new man in his life, has Nick rethinking his priorities. Will’s perspective on life and love is different from anything Nick has ever encountered, making him that much more desirable.

The two men are compatible in every way except one, and it’s a huge divisor. Both are stubborn, neither willing to compromise, until a serial slasher enters their lives. A growing stack of dead bodies has the police running in circles, sending Nick and Will into a nightmare that could change their lives forever.

I have got to say that this was one hell of a good story. Although, I was not too sure about Will, at first, he turns his whole attitude around in the end. I did get the little twist when a cop is with a male prostitute. It was amazing and I had such a good time reading this book. I wished that it were longer because I didn’t want to stop reading this book. It captured my attention and kept it all the way to the end. It gave me everything I could possibly want in a book except for more stories.

Born to Run ♥♥♥♥♥5Hearts

Detective Sam Nielson has always been a casual, no strings type of guy. He loves New York City and the diversity of men it offers him. He also loves his job in South Bronx’s forty-first precinct, affectionately nicknamed ‘Fort Apache’ for its violent history.

Sam’s caught off guard when handsome detective Bobby Rodriguez transfers to Fort Apache. The two are immediately thrown together on a high profile murder investigation. Their fast brewing passion makes concentrating on work difficult. It becomes even tougher when Sam discovers what type of relationship Bobby has in mind. He’s a Dominant, looking for a Submissive. It’s a whole new world for Sam, who has to decide if that’s the type of life, he wants to live. But first, he has to survive the murderer they’re tracking, who’s now after them.

I loved this book although I must admit that it was a bit bizarre. I can see how people are dominates and submissives but it seemed that Bobby basically pushed Sam into it. There was no warning for the poor guy and then to have him need it, well it made it a bit harder to understand.

However, I loved this story and can’t wait to start reading the next book. It caught my attention and kept it all the way to the end. It was a blast to read.

Hungry Heart ♥♥♥♥♥5Hearts

Captain Gil Gates is a proud member of the N.Y.P.D. and enjoys his position running a North Bronx precinct. When an incident with grave repercussions rocks the department and the whole community, Gil’s otherwise spotless record is suddenly in jeopardy.

Brian Knight is Channel Nine’s star news reporter, following the most exciting story the Bronx has seen in quite some time. In his line of work, as with Gil’s, being gay no big deal unless someone finds out about it.

Brian is the sexiest guy Gil’s been with in ages, but certainly not someone he can confide in as his career spins out of control. Yet Brian offers something the department can’t–something that’s been missing from Gil’s life for too long. If only he can clear, his name and solve a double homicide while he’s at it.

I think this one was the best one yet. Gil had been in a relationship that had lasted awhile then they had agreed that it was over. Here he was looking at his best friends finding love and was wishing it was there for him. Then in walks Brian a very sexy reporter, but was he wanting information or was he truly wanting him. Things get out of hand, but love wins in the end.

Overall
I have got to tell you that this was one of the best books I have come across. Here you are given three stories with gorgeous men who have badges and wear guns. Three friends find themselves with the loves of their lives. They had met in training and had a little time together the three of them but realized that they were better as best friends. Now they have found the men who were suppose to be with them.

I love it when a story comes together and you can feel the love building. I like that they were three gay cops who didn’t see the package but what was in the eyes of their men. Although to each story there is a bit of pain it was overcome in all. I also liked that none of them really gave up on the other one in the end. They fought for what they wanted. I loved this book and cannot wait to check out more by this author.

I would definitely be recommending this book to everyone. What is better than sexy men, men with guns, boyfriends who have their problems, a little angst, some pain, true love in the end and some very hot sex?
