Blurb: August Rinehard took his job as a soldier in the shifter’s rebel army seriously. This lone wolf had a simple mission: find India and get her back. Their beloved leader’s sister has been targeted by the humans and if they get her, the world could delve into utter chaos. However, along the way, he finds a hurt wolf, Kory, a shifter that was subjected to the human’s entrapment and torture.

The two hit it off immediately and the passion between them sizzles. But the lone wolf doesn’t want a relationship, or worse, mate. While they search for their leader’s beloved sister, the pull of the moon is nearly unbearable. A quick romp in the sack leads to the beginning of the bonding phase that neither of them can deny. Review: Each book in the Shifters of North Point collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

This book actually has a dark tone to it. There is very little humor, which is if you can find it and for me that was a negative. I want my stories to have a bit of humor in them and this one didn’t have it. I wasn’t so sure if I actually wanted to finish this book or not, but it has a great story line that will keep your attention that is for sure.

August is one hell of a soldier for the shifter’s rebel army. He is tough, loyal and downright mean some times. He finds a human chained to the wall and a wolf stuck in a trap. The human could die for all he cares, but the wolf was unlike any wolf he had ever seen. The human turned out to be none other than one of the scientist who experimented on wolves. He was also Gregory’s son. They wanted Gregory dead right along with his partner.

Kory had been one of the experimented on wolves and he was stronger than any ever born. He wants paybacks for what had been done to him and it meant trusting August. Then a quick sexy time, ended up starting a bond with the man. Things were going to get real interesting real fast. Too bad they had to deal with Jeffery and his experiments.

I did enjoy reading this but there was something missing to truly enjoy. I hope that the next one has a bit of humor in it.

I guess I will wait and see what book three has in it.

Review: Where do I even begin? Bouncing back is the story of a resort called Cozzi Cove, run by Cal Cozzi. It I s also about the guests for this summer’s season as well.

In one Cabin we have Mario (remember him from infatuation?) and his twin Harold. We have a wealthy Gay couple whose son is coming for a visit as well. We have an OCD writer, a porn star, A man on his deathbed, a young waiter on vacation and a reclusive middle-aged gamer and a mermaid. (I will let you read and see if the Mermaid is real.) And we have some regulars as well. Cal’s sister Taylor, Carla, who runs the seafood restaurant in town and Tommy that owns the bar.

Quite a cast of characters. The story is like love boat on land.

I’m not going into detail about any coupling as that would be spoilers so I will let you grab a copy to see what all goes on. I will say each storyline is fabulous. Though this isn’t a mystery, I sat on the edge of my chair wondering who was going to fall for who and if it was all going to be happy endings.

If you like a lot of angst, some humor, love, sadness, (be sure to have a couple of boxes of tissue handy and some hot sensual man-sex I highly, highly recommend this book. I loved all of the Joe Cosentino’s books, but I think this is my favorite to date!

I am ready for book 2!

Transformation

(The Eternal Dungeon 02)
by

Dusk Peterson

“Every psychologist of our day knows the origin of transformation therapy, though many prefer not to speak of it. It is considered embarrassing to be forced to admit that your primary tool for curing patients was developed by a group of torturers.”

The Eternal Dungeon, a royal prison where criminals are transformed, has lost its leadership. The duty of returning the dungeon to normal falls on two Seekers (torturers) who are already burdened with their own problems. One Seeker is struggling to understand why an old love affair continues to gnaw at him. The other Seeker is faced with his greatest challenge: whether to risk the man who is most precious to him in order to save his own abuser.

A winner of the 2011 Rainbow Awards (within the “Eternal Dungeon” omnibus), this tale of love and adventure can be read on its own or as the second volume in The Eternal Dungeon, a speculative fiction series set in a nineteenth-century prison where the psychologists wield whips.

The Eternal Dungeon series is part of Turn-of-the-Century Toughs, a cycle of alternate history series (Young Toughs, Waterman, Life Prison, Commando, Michael’s House, The Eternal Dungeon, and Dark Light) about adults and youths on the margins of society, and the people who love them. Set in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the novels and stories take place in an alternative version of America that was settled by inhabitants of the Old World in ancient times. As a result, the New World retains certain classical and medieval customs.

A Wizard in Waikiki 01
by

A.J. Llewellyn

Summoned from the past, Konu rises naked from the sea to reclaim his power for the freedom to live—and love. If the forces of evil don’t get to him first!

On a hot day in Waikiki, beachgoers are stunned when a tall, handsome man rises from the ocean. Striding naked to a small, ringed enclosure containing four huge stones most tourists never even notice, he becomes visibly upset. These are Wizard Stones, positioned between the beach and the foot traffic on Kalakaua Avenue. Konu, the naked man, is agitated by a young Asian girl draping her beach towel over the stones. He’s come a long way, from Tahiti, and is one of the ancient wizards whose power was infused into these sacred stones four hundred years ago.

With the invisible battle between good and evil raging, Konu has been dispatched to help balance the power. Landing in modern-day Waikiki, he’s stunned by the changes – and to find he is alone. A cop tries to arrest him for indecent exposure but the young girl’s grandfather – who thinks Konu’s a homeless lunatic offers him refuge. Will the ancient forces of evil beat this wizard in Waikiki? Or can Konu find his power again, and perhaps…even love?

Rufus + Syd

by

Robin Lippincott & Julia Watts

Vermillion, Georgia, is the small town that time forgot, or at least that’s how it feels to fifteen-year-old Rufus. As if being a scrawny ginger called “Matchstick” isn’t bad enough, Rufus is also gay, an artist, and the son of conservative religious fanatics. He doesn’t have a prayer of fitting in in the Bible Belt—at least not until he meets Syd, a spiky-haired girl in black eyeliner. Sick of being the adult her mother can’t seem to be, Syd hides behind a snarky attitude and takes refuge in classic movies, and eventually, her friendship with Rufus.

As isolated as they feel in Vermillion, Rufus and Syd soon discover they’re not as alone as they thought. Josephine, an aging free spirit who once ran a repertory cinema in Chicago, and Cole, a middle-aged gay man living with a brain injury as a result of a violent homophobic attack in his youth, offer help as the two teens struggle to discover who they are, what they want, and where they might belong. But not everyone in their town is so freethinking or open-minded.

When things become unbearable, where do two outspoken atheists turn? Trusting in each other and standing together is their only chance of making it through the opposition on all sides.

Review: I have read a few books by this author and I have got to say that this one is way darker. The title was what caught my attention, but I really should have taken a second look at the blurb. This story was a bit hard to read for me. Not only hard but a bit complicated in some spots.

Humans, vampires, shifters and other beings used to live among each other at one time. This is actually a different type of earth, a different or alternate universe type of story. As with our world, wars start and they turn on each other. That doesn’t seem to change much. Now they hide from each other.

Sevon was orphaned when he was a small child. Dominic tortured Sevon and made him believe everything he said. Which for a small child would be easy to do. Even throughout this Sevon still wants to help those around him. However it would seem Dominic has more control then we think. For when he sees his best friend, he doesn’t recognize Jack at all.

Jack is a shifter and he plans on saving his friend. The abuse is both destructive and very powerful on a child but as an adult he is almost paralyzed by it. He is a sexy little king who needs help.

I am afraid that most of this is from what I caught and felt then what was probably written. The story was so deep and very complex, which it was hard for me to get into. I am afraid that I had trouble concentrating from the start. I am not one for abuse of any kind, so that made it even worse for me.

While the story itself is very well written and is compelling to some, just wasn’t for me at all.

Blurb: Paul Hannon moved to Tucker Springs for his girlfriend, but she’s left him with a house he can’t afford and a pantry full of useless gadgets. All Paul wants is to get back to normal, even if he’s not sure what that is anymore. When he wanders into Tucker Pawn for a gift to win her back, he meets El Rozal, pawn shop owner and all-around cynic.

El Rozal doesn’t do relationships, especially not with clueless straight boys still pining for their ex. El may make his living dealing in castoffs, but that doesn’t apply to men. Still, when Paul starts clearing out his old life, pawning kitchen equipment he never wanted in the first place, El is drawn to Paul in spite of himself.

Paul and El have nothing in common except a past full of disappointments. There’s no reason to believe the two of them could fit, but in El’s line of work, one man’s junk is another man’s treasure. When it comes to love, El and Paul may learn that secondhand doesn’t mean second best.

Review: Paul moved to Tucker Springs for his girlfriends so she could sell her sculptures. When she found out he failed his vet school and got a job as a receptionist, she found someone else. Someone she felt could help her make it in the art world.  Down on his luck, Paul kept trying to win Stacy over. For her birthday, he went to the Tucker Springs Pawn to find a gift for her.

El was immediately taken by the cute, innocent young man. Straight man.

All Paul really wants is love and acceptance. To be able to make out in public, hold hands in public.

This was such a fun, romantic story. I loved how Paul was so clueless that El was taking thing just to see him, especially when he took the dog left on the vet’s steps for Paul. I loved the way El’s friend chided him about Paul and the fun banter between El, his friend, and his family.

If you are looking for fun, humorous romance, like bisexual men, Gay for you stories, cute dogs, gardening and an all over great romance, this is the book for you. It’s perfect for an afternoon of yard work or housework.

Plug in your earphones and let Iggy Toma tell you the story of El and Paul! I love Iggy Toma. He can tell a story so well.  His voice is nearly mesmerizing. He conveys all the characters so well.

Review: Prince Kisin, unable to cope with the feelings he harbors for his best friend and court wizard, Razin, he gives his heart to Pari. Now three years later he is slowly turning to ice. Refusing to let his best friend go Razin goes on a dangerous journey to get Kisin’s heart back.

As the two men journey Kisin is evasive in questions referring to the reason why he has given away his heart. But he exhibits traits of getting it back little by little as the story progresses.

This story has a lot of drama, adventure, action, and battles in it. There is a lot of the book taken up by conversations regarding the secondary characters in the book that I thought was needless at times.

Review: Each book in the Brac Pack Next Gen series features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order. This series is in fact a branch off of multiple series so I would start with Brac Pack first. The connected series include Brac Pack, Brac Village, Christian’s Coven, Zeus’s Pack, Demon Warriors and Shadow Tribe.

Paden is a fairy and his mate is a vampire. Fairy law makes it impossible to mate someone who is not fairy. He tries to run from it but when he gets his sexy little ass in trouble it is his mate that saves him. But damn does he give a good effort in staying away.

Michaya is one of the twin’s son, and has the gift of being able to get his sexy mate pregnant, which was a bonus. He is also Christian’s nephew as well so he has the back up when things go wrong, and things do in fact go wrong. So hot damn, we get to see the old guys showing up, not that they will ever look old.

Paden has become a favorite character after reading about this. I loved the whole pregnancy also. He doesn’t let anything get to him, and that includes his mate. He is as feisty as they come and is a spit fire mate.

I enjoyed reading this story and can’t wait to get my hands on the next book. I had so much fun in fact that I would definitely not only recommend it, but I will read it again.

Way to go Lynn Hagen for giving me an awesome read.

Review: Each book in the True Blood Mate collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Now I must admit that I read this several times when it first came out, but when I saw that one of the books had been re-edited I had to read them again.

Ian has been having the same dream for several weeks. He has fallen in love with his dream man. On the day he was to be crowned, he finds out that his sexy dream is alive. Billy has been held prisoner to a sick ass hat, since he was a child. When he realized the man and coven they were going to kill was Ian, he did the only thing he could think of.

He killed his master.

Ian binds Billy to him to keep him from getting executed, but to their shock it turns out that Billy had been one of the kids sold. The problem was someone was still trying to kill him and take Billy back. He will do everything to protect his mate.

I enjoyed reading this book and as soon as I finish this little paragraph I am going to get started on the next story. Stormy has turned into one of my favorite authors, always keeping me satisfied with her stories.

This has been a great read.

Review: This is the first book in the Home series.

Detective Sean Hennessey thought he knew what everything was about including Yates. Boy does he get the shock of his life one day when Yates rescues him and shows all is not as it seems.

I really liked this story but felt at times there was too much detail or interactions with others where there was no need for it. Yet at other times there was a need for more when there was none. For example: why did Angleton just stop the hit? There were more unanswered questions but maybe they will be answered sometime in the series.

I really liked both Sean and Yanas. Both are level-headed with jobs to do protecting the innocent and taking down the guilty. These two men worked well together, once it came to light that Yanas was a good guy and not the other way around.

Great read.

Review: Jake, an Omega wolf shifter, knows he is in trouble unless he finds someone strong enough to protect him after the death of his lover. Blake, a biker bear shifter, is in town for the sole reason to get his bike checked out as it was acting up while on the road. What Blake doesn’t expect is to meet a sexy Omega with a feisty side to him.

I loved the actual story, but felt it had way more sex in it that was needed for a book this size. I was pissed at the bullies in this story thinking they could do whatever they wanted no matter if that person was already mated. I felt bad for Jake, but also happy that he finally met someone.

It seemed more than half the book was sex scenes. Although it was hot I prefer more story than sex in the books I read.

It was an o.k. read.

Review: This is the first book by Mark Wildyr that I have read and I must say that it has a great way about it. Although the first thing I noticed about it was the sexy man on the cover and then the blurb. The title was not as eye-catching as one would think and in fact it made me almost put the story back. For me the story seemed just a bit dry and I wasn’t sure if I liked it or not. It is a wonderful story with a lot of potential, but there was just something missing to the whole story for me.

Roger agreed to give Johnny a ride to pick up some stuff from his late brothers wife, to give back to his grandmother. He felt a bit off, but the young man just did something for him. Too bad neither made a move. The heat was there but they were just to gun-shy with each other. Now it takes them a year to reconnect and things start heating up for them both.

Now I am not a fan of books that have a long period of time between certain scenes like this book and that was one issue for me. I am not really into that kind of book. Now the characters were very real for me and I can see it going down the way it said in the book.

It is a beautiful love story, but I am afraid the story was not for me.

Review: X-Factor is a completely charming and adventure filled story that matches nerdy computer game maker with an extreme sports junkie. This is the 2nd edition of the book, although I have not read the first edition to know exactly what has changed between the older version and this new updated version.

The story follows Henry, he’s a video game creator that has done pretty damn well in the business. So much so he has made his in a small mountain town and built a luxurious sounding cabin where he can spend his days in quiet while working on gaming codes. One of his favourite activities is coming down his mountain to town to attend the X-treme games. He enjoys the adrenaline rush he gets from watching the competitors, as well as getting the chance to check out the athletes.

One of the X-treme Games athletes is Ecco Rasmussen. He loves and lives for snowboarding. Meeting Henry also adds something to his life that he knows he will miss when their brief acquaintance must end. But the story is much darker, as we quickly find out that Ecco’s manager, Blake Dobbs, is a lot more dangerous when signs of abuse begin to emerge immediately.

Quite quickly, Henry becomes something of a knight in shining armour to Ecco, who suffers a serious injury while competing. It is enjoyable to see that Henry can introduce Ecco to new and wonderful feelings that come with relationships as he tries to escape his dark past. There is a lot of sexual tension and a lot of sex between the guys – it’s great

. But I feel, also, that a lot is missed in terms of Ecco coming to terms with abuse. The other problem I have is how Blake is ultimately dealt with – too predictable, I won’t say anymore in case I give any spoilers away. I think if the abuse side of things was removed it would have made more sense because that was only ever glossed over enough to satisfy readers, well most readers anyway.

Despite my problems with the plot, this was an enjoyable book. It was fun and there was plenty of adrenaline as well as sweet moments. Ultimately, it was a joy getting to know Henry and Ecco.

Review: Each book in the Unexpected collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

I am afraid to say that the cover of this book was very daunting and drab looking to me, so I wasn’t as inspired to read this story, plus the title was just off. I had read the second book in this series and had wanted to know what happened to the baby.

This story has a dark tone to it that I really didn’t care for at all. Also the characters were not a full filling to me as they should have been. The story did have some great spots and a lot of potential to it.

Gerome is not a favorite of mine although I do feel for him. His unborn’s father is in love with Sam, his unborn child is in danger, and his father is forcing him to marry. Not something he wanted so Gerome takes it out on the stranger he is forced to mate with. He wanted love and that was what saved him with me. He has the same dream that many have but instead of going forward with Luis, he treats him like crap. However Luis isn’t going to take it.

Luis was a happy student who was carefree and loving life. That is until he is forced to mate the vampire prince. Gerome wants his complete submission and has another thing coming. However Luis withdraws so much that he is no longer who he used to be. It takes a friend to step in and help these two.

This story turned out better than I had thought but it was missing something to make it what it should have been. Like I said before I didn’t care for the cover of the book or the title, but once you start reading you kind of lose your temper with this family.

The king is an ass and so are the rules. I think that had these two met without being forced then they might have found their ending a bit sooner. I didn’t have as much fun reading this book as I should have though and I was a bit disappointed in it. And that is only because of the dark tone to it, other than that it is well written with just a few issues with it.

Other than my issues with this book, it is a very good story that I would recommend.
