Blurb: Cory fled the foothills to deal with the pain of losing Adrian, and Green watched her go. Separately, they could easily grieve themselves to death, but when an old enemy of Green’s brings them back together, they can no longer hide from their grief—or their love for each other.

But Cory’s grieving has cut her off from the emotional stability that’s the source of her power, and Green’s worry for her has left them both weak. Cory’s strength comes from love, and she finds that when she’s in the presence of Adrian’s best friend, Bracken, she feels stronger still.

But defeating their enemy is by no means a sure thing. As the attacks against Cory and her lovers keep coming, it becomes clear that their love might not be enough if they can’t heal each other—and themselves—from the wounds that almost killed them all.

Review: At first release (2005), Amy Lane’s “Little Goddess” series was clearly a precursor to her future work. Showcasing her creativity and writing skills, it introduced the author and her characters as forces to be reckoned with. Now, in a second edition, “Little Goddess” is back. Better than ever. If you haven’t read it, stop now and pick up “Vulnerable”. You’ll need it before reading “Wounded”, and really, it’s a damn good book.

Picking up where Vulnerable leaves off, Cory and Green are grief-stricken and attempting to heal, though not finding solace in one another as lovers should. True to Amy Lane’s style, forces beyond their control will soon change that. The lovers and those around them who are also in pain must come together to control their destiny.

Secondary characters are brought to the forefront. There are new names, faces, and relationships; no character is unimportant in this series. Ms. Lane continues to build Green and Cory’s world(s), with more layers of love, romance, family, loyalty and yes, treachery and betrayal. Age old opposing forces of good vs. evil, love vs. hate arise as Cory, Green, their friends, family and enemies struggle to persevere. We learn more about their magic, their preternatural selves and their importance to one another.

Lane immerses us in rich character history; in this first volume of “Wounded” Green’s past is further revealed. Faces from said past have returned – both to help and to cause harm. The bond between Green, Cory and their loved ones, how they handle this as a united front, as a family, through the danger is the crux of this amazing story.

As with any Amy Lane book, there is love and romance, but here it is taken to another level. The intimate moments are not just love and sex, but are filled with magic, beauty, romance, sadness and angst. There are happy and tender moments as well, and sometimes it is a combustible whirlwind of it all. There are times when love literally saves the day.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; Ms. Lane is the master of her craft. Her skill with the written word is one of the best I’ve encountered. It draws me in every time, bringing me back for each new release, and at times for a reread of one of my many favorites.

Being reintroduced to these characters, I remembered why I fell so hard. For all their power there is such vulnerability; they are easy to love. I’m so invested in them and their world. I urge you to venture into the world of “Little Goddess”, the world Amy built. Let a little fantasy into your reality – not only will you not regret it, you’ll come back for more.

Review: Hmm, I have to say when I first started reading this book I honestly thought the beginning was the author words and not the story so it took me by surprise to realize I was reading the actual story. Armando seemed abrasive and rude to the point of being insulting at times yet tender at others while at the same time coming off as conceited and self-absorbed.

Although I love sarcastic characters this did not strike me as sarcastic at all. I was very glad that Mads seemed to give back the abrasive behavior to Armando rather than not say anything. However if it had been me I would have walked away and never looked back.

I hate to say it but I did not enjoy this book as much as I normally would a paranormal book which shocked me. That was due to the very beginning and Armando’s dialogue. I had to force myself to read the entire book and was gritting my teeth wanting to slap Armando at times.

I’m sorry but I did not like this book, but will give it a 3 for effort.

Review: This is the 2nd edition and has been added to and is 50% longer than the 1st. Ethan is returning home after a week of filming, and his welcome, is his girlfriend breaking up with him. Now he finds himself on his way to the one person who has always been there for him, his ‘forever’ friend Jude, but he ends up taking a side journey that opens his eyes to what he has been missing.

This is a sweet short that has a ‘Christmas Carol’ feel to it. Ethan is a film star, who, after being dumped, goes to the one person who is always there for him, Jude. But on his way to his best friend, he is waylaid by a woman who takes him on a journey of discovery. Ethan visits places in time that have happened to him before, but now, as an outsider he notices things that he never noticed before, and he comes to a startling revelation about himself and his own feelings.

Ethan is a great character who is just human, he might be rich and famous but he isn’t a diva, he is just ignorant of things around him that don’t concern him and his career. So he is given a wakeup call in the shape of ‘Ginger’, who takes him on a journey so that he can see what is right in front of his eyes and just what he is missing. Jude is an absolute jewel, and as we see him through Ethan’s eyes, as the revelations strike Ethan, we also realise, along with Ethan exactly what he has with Jude for his friend, in the shape of friendship and love.

So if you want a sweet story of revelations, of discovering oneself, and of friends to lovers’ story, of seeing beyond the obvious and a happy ever after, then this is definitely the book for you.

Review: I didn’t know what to think about this story as I started to read it as this is the first time I’ve ever read a book where the Grim Reaper has a love interest. It was strange yet really good. Gregory makes two deals with Thanatos, the Grim Reaper. It’s the second during the second deal that they fall in love. I loved Gregory’s happy, positive personality even though he’s been in a lot of pain since he was granted 7 more years of life.

Thanatos wasn’t as scary as I thought he’d be and tried to fulfill every wish Gregory had in the two days they had together. It was a beautiful time with amazing details of the beach and of course hot, passionate sex between the two. At the end of the second day Gregory takes Nemesis words to heart and gets his final wish to be with Thanatos for eternity.

Really sweet and great read.

Review: This is the 2nd edition and there are no changes from the 1st. Abel and Kai were bonded from birth by their parents so they would combine their packs and lead together, they adored each other growing up and vowed to be true to one another until Kai was old enough to bond. But with the death of Kai’s father their time together was limited, then Kai’s mother died and all contact was cut off until the day Kai turned eighteen and Abel was left devastated by what he discovered. Ten years later Abel still yearns for the man who should have been his mate and a plea for help has Kai back in his life, but Kai is broken, a shell of the wolf he once was, and Abel must trust his heart if he is going to save the man he still loves.

Holy Hell, this is a fantastic hurt/comfort story that hits you hard and has you wanting to bang two shifters heads together for their stubbornness. Abel looked forward to bonding fully with Kai but what he discovered on Kai’s coming of age day drove him away, Kai was stuck with no way out and his sacrifice nearly destroyed him.

This is a superbly written story that has a lot of hurt/comfort being dished out. With Kai most of the hurt was physical but it was also emotional as he thought he had lost the one he loved, with Abel the hurt was all emotional as he thought he had been betrayed by the man he loved, but there is more hurt that he faces as he realizes that he abandoned his mate and his mate suffered because of it. Then there’s the comfort which is wonderfully done, both Kai and Abel comfort each other but Abel also manages to comfort Kai’s scared sister giving her the safety she hasn’t had in so long.

I loved this story and absolutely adore Kai and Abel, both men have been through a lot and yes even though you don’t want to you do think ‘If only Abel had confronted what he saw instead of running away’, and Kai, poor poor Kai, stuck in a position that was impossible especially when he was so young but you do wish he had reached out himself. This really is a brilliant story that pulls on the heart strings and has you cheering when Kai gets his revenge, I loved how easily they put the past behind them, they refuse to let the past drag them down… that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t leave it’s scars on Kai because it does but with the security of his mate he can deal.

I recommend this to those who love shifters, abuse being overcome, exacting revenge the way only a shifter can, hot sex and a very happy wonderful ending.

Review: To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

I love the way Stormy can put together a book that not only fascinates you but draws you in. I had a blast reading this and look forward to reading more by one of my favorite authors.

Cooper is a quirky detective with a funny streak a mile long. He caught my attention in the first book because of the way he cared for his friends. He had been kidnapped by a psycho six months ago and was tortured for several hours before his friends found him and saved him. What surprised him was that one of the guys that came to help him, was his lover from ten years ago.

They had been in love. That is, until Alec left him with no word. He had just disappeared and Cooper had even thought he was dead. He blamed himself, and then he got pissed. He had never forgotten him and in fact still loved the jerk. Now he was back.

Alec has always loved Cooper, but he left him out of fear. Fear that his father would destroy what they had. Now that his father had passed he wanted to find a way back to Cooper. So after rescuing Cooper, he stayed. He had to way to make up for the past and to see if they had a future together. For now he had to keep another killer from getting his hands on his lover.

I think out of all the characters in this series though, it would be Ben and Jordan that actually have my attention. The fact that Ben is so tender and cute, and Jordan is straight means that I cannot wait for their stories to come out. As for this one, all I can say is Stormy rocks.

I can honestly tell you that this is going to be one of those types of series. One that I will have to read over and over. I love the way all the feelings they felt was involved in this story. It was the perfect story for me and I loved it. I can’t wait to read the next story. When Stormy puts out a book I am usually there to eat them up.

Trust me it will keep you laughing, crying, loving and having fun.

Review: I couldn’t wait to read Six Degrees of Separation after Six Degrees of Lust. I love a good mystery/suspense and this one has so many interlocking pieces, or so many little degrees of separation between the characters as the author intended. So many puzzles to solve, so many intriguing ways to link the characters together, to try to figure out who the serial killer is and why he’s killing.

Wow! I thought I had my thumb on the right suspect and Taylor keeps throwing new grenades over the literary fence.

As for the chemistry between Sam and Mac? Intense and hot as always….but Mac knows how to handle Sam….give him just enough line to snag himself. It’s not a big hook and a strong jerk that will reel Sam in, it’s letting the line out and ever so slightly leading him in the right direction that finally lands Mac his man.

Living their relationship by Sam’s “rules” seems to work, until Mac finds the right moments to break them, or allows Sam to break them all on his own. The two become more intimate, sharing their troubles as well as their vacation time. This book shows us Sam’s growth from hot and heavy sex with Mac to making love for the first time.

Throughout Six Degrees of Separation, we see the lives of Mac and his Texas boys overlapping with Sam and his New York serial killer case. Hint and clues keep getting dropped and more and more we see connection between Sam’s past and Mac’s current friends and business partners.

Of course we also get to know Sam’s team even better. I so want a book just for Logan! So many of the supporting characters have intense back stories, interesting identities, and I want to know how they got there, how their minds tick…Logan front and center.

I know I’m all over the place, back and forth with this review, but that is kind of how the book plays out. We are volleyed from New York to Texas, from Sam’s FBI team to the drama happening to Mac’s family and friends. Back and forth the web is woven until it gets so tight all the characters confront one another and the action gets crazy. The big chase to catch the killer brings in another character, Detective Callahan, who I hope gets more interaction with Logan…

There is a great twist and interesting surprise regarding the UNSUB at the close of the book that was strongly hinted at in the beginning, kind of a tell….but I can’t say more…I don’t want to spoil the action, the fun, the intensity that is the By Degrees series!

I can’t wait to read more…because yes, there will be more…I HIGHLY recommend to those readers who love a good puzzle and a mystery to solve.

Eden Winter

Diversion

There are good guys, bad guys, and then there’s Lucky.

Former drug trafficker Richmond “Lucky” Lucklighter flaunts his past like a badge of honor. He speaks his mind, doesn’t play nice, and flirts with disaster while working off his sentence with the Southeastern Narcotics Bureau. If he can keep out of trouble a while longer he’ll be a free man–after he trains his replacement.

Textbook-quoting, by the book Bo Schollenberger is everything Lucky isn’t. Lucky slurps coffee, Bo lives caffeine free. Lucky worships bacon, Bo eats tofu. Lucky trusts no one, Bo calls suspects by first name. Yet when the chips are down on their shared case of breaking up a drug diversion ring, they may have more in common than they believe.

Two men. Close quarters. Friction results in heat. But Lucky scoffs at partnerships, no matter how thrilling the roller-coaster. Bo has two months to break down Lucky’s defenses… and seconds are ticking by.

Eden WInters – Diversion

Collusion

Dead men can’t love.

Former drug trafficker Richmond “Lucky” Lucklighter “died” in the line of duty while working off a ten-year sentence in service to the Southeastern Narcotics Bureau, only to be reborn as Simon “Lucky” Harrison. The newbie he trained, former Marine Bo Schollenberger, is now his partner on (and maybe off) the job. It’s hard to tell when Lucky doesn’t understand relationships or have a clue what any sane human is doing in his bed. Bo’s nice to have around, sure, but there’s none of that picking-out-china-together crap for Lucky.

While fighting PTSD, memories of a horrid childhood, and a prescription drug addiction, Bo is paying for his mistakes. Using his pharmacy license for the good guys provides the sort of education he never got in school. Undercover with his hard-headed partner, Bo learns that not everything is as it seems in the world of pharmaceuticals.

When a prescription drug shortage jeopardizes the patients at Rosario Children’s Cancer Center, it not only pits Bo and Lucky against predatory opportunists, but also each other. How can they tell who the villains are? The bad guys don’t wear black hats, but they might wear white coats.

Corruption

Renegade biker. Drug runner. Recovering addict. Wanted by the Southeastern Narcotics Bureau. But he isn’t a crook, he’s the law.

SNB Agent Bo Schollenberger’s solved his cases using his brains and not a gun, and with his partner, not alone. Now he’s handed a tough new case involving designer drugs that turn users violent. One false move could end his life as he immerses himself into a motorcycle gang to locate the source. His fate depends on how well he can impersonate someone else. Someone named Cyrus Cooper.

Cyrus is everything Bo Schollenberger isn’t, including the badass enforcer for a smuggling ring. He establishes pecking order with his fists and doesn’t take shit from anybody, not even the undercover agent who comes to help his case.

Simon “Lucky” Harrison’s always been the best, whichever side of the law he was on. Former trafficker turned SNB agent, he damned well ought to be undercover in this motorcycle gang, instead of hanging around the office going crazy with new policies, new people, and “inter-departmental cooperation” that sticks him in a classroom. Yet he’s passed over for the SNB’s biggest case in decades in favor of the rookie who shares his bed. A man Lucky thought he knew.

When survival depends on a web of tangled lies, lines blur, worlds collide, and a high stakes game turns friend to foe. Lucky knows the difference between Bo the agent and Cyrus the outlaw, but does Bo?

Manipulation

Lucky Lucklighter has a new life. His old life wants him back.

He traded trafficking for taking down criminals with the Southeastern Narcotics Bureau, and a drug-lord lover for a man on the right side of the law. Bo Schollenberger found the way past the thorny defenses of Lucky’s heart, and made Mr. I-Get-Along-Fine-Alone think about his and his closets, stevia in the sugar bowl, and a picket fence—with a good lock on the gate.

Now Bo is missing, and a voice long silenced asks, “Did you miss me?” Lucky must deal with a devil from his past to get Bo back.

And if Bo isn’t willing to come? A drug ring needs its back broken before flooding the US with a designer high, seductive and undetectable. But there’s a fine line between good and evil, and a truckload of temptation urging Lucky to cross.

Review: I imagine it’s hard to adjust back to civilian life after being in the military for years. The sights, sounds, and environment are completely foreign because you’re used to constantly being on alert, training, heading out on missions and doing things you probably never would have before. They can leave a permanent imprint on the person as certain things need to be kept secret.
I really liked reading how Jeff quickly adjusted.

Although Hunter is ex military, musician and shop owner, these two hot ex military men burn up the pages with their incredible passion for one another.

It was hot and steamy. It seemed as though they were what each other needed.

Review: This book was sexually hot, sensual, and wacky at times. It was also enjoyable read. It was also a little different from what I was expecting. Which is a good thing. I found myself laughing as much as fanning myself. Just leave your expectations of realism at the cover.

I loved Topaz. He is just free in all the good ways in life. He it like this little bundle of happiness and just damn adorable. Quincy is the opposite in so many ways, but he gets drawn into Topaz’s life and they fall in love.

However there is the issue of Leo and Stephan who are also Topaz’s best friends and have been his lovers for years. I actually liked both men too. They were a couple, but included Topaz in their lives and loved him.

This is mostly a happy telling of how two separate couples finding a way to make room in their hearts and beds for the other couple.

The dynamics are interesting, very sweet, and mushy cute.

Really this book is great for a light pick me up type read with a good amount of spice added.

Review: This is an interesting story that boils down to the idea of two men, deeply in love with each other, find their relationship tested by external influences. Really, a typical story. The story is told completely from the POV of Jeremy, who feels rather neglected by the man he loves, Gavin.

This story may be potentially problematic to some people because the plot is based on the big no, no’s of relationships: primarily, no communication and running away without explanation or trying to help the other partner understand. Okay, I’ll admit, this type of plot device frustrates me at times, as I think is already clear from what I’ve written.

I found it difficult to emotionally understand Jeremy’s POV but completely was on Gavin’s side the entire. I felt so sorry for Gavin, who seemed to be trying while Jeremy was running! I think also throwing in the fact that the story is set in 1979 and 1986, the world and society was a very different place, which again made me to sympathise with Gavin and feel frustrated by Jeremy, again… still.

Here is a line (no spoilers, really), that perfectly sums up this book:

Hello Jerr,
Well, well, well, run off again, you coward.

This is enjoyable and I have to say in the end I was relieved, one that it was finished and two that the guys got their shit together.

Review: I love Jay and Kyle. They are just perfect for each other. They have been best friends since childhood. Jay was even accepted into Kyle’s family. Until the day Jay finally pulled away completely thinking to protect Kyle and his parents from the horrors of his home life.

But neither man forgot each other. And on the day Jay needs him the most Kyle rescues Jay and takes him back home, forever. Well after Kyle explains everything to Jay. I must say Jay’s minds works in the best ways. His reactions to learning about shifters and mating is funny as hell.

Jay is just a cute, sassy, and sweet bundle. Kyle is strong, loyal, and damn sweet too. Jay let his stepfather ruin his personal view and worth, but Kyle helps him get it back. To Kyle, Jay is nothing less than perfect for him. To Jay, Kyle has been what he has always wanted and loved.

It may be short, but it gives the series a good base to start from. It brings the two main characters together and explains their backgrounds. It gives the reader a good feel for the type of men they are. But it also lets the reader know there is more to come and that Jay and Kyle are still growing into who they will be.

Great little read to open the series with.

Review: This book is part of series and should be read in order.

Jay and Kyle have barely had any time to settle into their mating when Jay starts having horrible dreams. Dreams that leave remainders on Jay body when he wakes up. Luckily, Jay and Kyle get some answers from unlikely sources. They start to fill in the blanks about Jay and where he comes from.

Not that Jay is all that thrilled with what is learned. To him, it just makes him a bigger freak. Jay still struggles with the belief he is not good enough for Kyle. Even with Kyle reassuring him and proving it.

Kyle has his own issues to deal with. The fact that he, the big Alpha of the mating is not always strong enough to protect Jay. In fact Jay winds up saving himself and Kyle. But it also leads to Jay learning more about himself and his strengths.

I honestly love Jay. His sarcastic wit had me laughing a good deal through the book. From the things he says out loud to the thoughts in his head, there is never a dull moment. But there is also a seriousness to him and the sarcasm is a way for him to deal with all the changes he is going through.

This book had so many twists and turns throughout. The hits kept on coming. Not only about Jay, but also about the missing shifters and what is happening to them. There is a lot going on in the shifter world. So much more than just missing shifters and hunters.

The first book in the series was lighter and sweeter than this one. This book really starts getting to the meat of the series. There is more drama, angst, and just plan more. Jay and Kyle have their hands full with many different things going on.

The book ends on a cliffhanger and leaves a good opening for the next one.

Review: Wow, this book was a fantastic read. It felt similar to the Indiana Jones movies. Action packed adventure and suspense with some very skilled sexy men. This book travels all over the world as the characters are treasure hunters. The different cities were breathtaking. The sex was hot and steamy though there wasn’t a lot of it.

The characters are Luca de Roma, an Italian model, Dr. Eden Santiago, Brazilian Biologist, Shane Houston, cowboy, Will Hunter, college student, Jake Stone, adventurer. These guys were amazing and had me wishing I was with them as the traveled.

I really liked that each of the five were introduced and that their skills and background were included. The characters seemed to come alive as the story progressed leaving the reader wanting more and more. You will be holding your breath, gasping, and sitting on the edge of your seat throughout.

Can’t wait to see what happens next. Simply an amazing book that definitely should be read. I loved it.

Highly recommended.

Review: This book was previously published with another publisher and has been extensively revised and expanded.

The first time I read this story was when it first came out quite some time ago, I was fascinated with Jack and Mason. I also got a kick out of Cooper, who had befriended Mason. This book has more added in and I have got to tell you that it has gotten even better. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Mason has been in love with Jack for over ten years. He did everything he could to get his brothers best friend to notice him. The problem was he was pretty sure Jack was straight. Jack always brought girls to the house so it was a fair guess. So after getting the call from the bar to pick up a drunk Jack, he gets a damn good night.

Too bad Jack freaked out and puked. Mason knew then that he had to get the hell away and forget Jack. After a four-day drunk spree, he meets Coop. Coop is the detective who was handling his being missing. He met a great friend, who with his help decided to show Jack what he was missing.

Jack had made a promise to his best friend eight years ago, to stay away from Mason sexually. He has loved Mason for that long, although he did not know it was love. He should have never listened to Randy nor should he have made that stupid promise.

There was no way in hell that he could get Mason to forgive him. Then he walks in to Coop and Mason kissing. Now he has to show that he is the man for Mason. Too bad Mason has a crazy stalker trying to take him away. Now they had to protect Mason from this man.

I have always loved Stormy’s books. The characters are well written with a lot of heart and strength. I loved this one and cannot wait to get my hands on the next story. It caught my attention from the moment I started reading and kept it all the way to the end. It gave me everything I could want in a story and so much more.

I would recommend reading this story especially if you love strong men, hot sex, action and suspense, true love and danger.

Review: April is a normal everyday woman. She is easy to relate to. She is not perfect and finds fault with her body. She has been hurt by men in the past by always expecting more from a relationship. When she meets bartender Mojo at a bar she is instantly attracted. She surprised when he shows a mutual attractions. She is even more surprised when she learns he is in a long-term relationship with another man, Jasper.

She takes the bulls by the head and decides to explore a purely sexual relationship with the two men. She gets to live a true fantasy of many women everywhere. Two hot and sexy men giving all focused on her and each other. Hot damn, this was smoking.

The book was short, but it gave all the needed information. The writing was well done and had a good pacing. Honestly MMF is not my preferred reading. However, as April was so relatable I actually enjoyed her being involved. It was nice to see an everyday normal woman get the two sexy men all to herself.

Good read with a very happy ending.

Review: Okay, this is going to be a long review because I really loved this book. It was thought-provoking and intense. In fact, I will go as far as to say that it is one of the most thought-provoking books that I’ve read all year (so far). So I will start with the same warning that I was given, this is not a romance novel, though matters of the heart are more than certainly addressed. This would also be the reason why it was published under DSP Publications.

This is an entirely complex war story, which follows the experience of one young man through World War II. The young man in question is Andrew. He is the son of an American diplomat and a Chinese mother.

The story opens with Andrew (not yet 18) fleeing Saigon in 1940. From there, Andrew’s wartime experience is fraught with the confusion of his emotions, as well as prejudice for his skin colour. Keeping in mind he is a half American, half Chinese person who is now involved in the war in the Pacific against Japan, he doesn’t quite fit properly on either side.

Then there is Mitchell, the man who Andrew falls for – he also happens to be Andrew’s CO. There is tension and longing palpable in the wonderfully descriptive words. Both Mitchell and Andrew are great guys and very relatable as characters. You really do need to keep in mind that this is not a romance at this point, or seeking a happily ever after for these two men who make a deep personal and emotional connection. On top of society’s perceptions at this point in time, “don’t ask, don’t tell” is in full swing in the military.

It is a very gritty and, I assume, somewhat realistic story. Essentially, this is a complex young man in a complex war. I think it might be clear by now that this is one long and intense read. Although, of everything that happens in this book the one thing I wonder on is the ease at which at WWII veteran would visit Japan so soon after the event. But, I suppose, that is neither here nor there.

On a personal note, growing up/being Australian, I think this helped me understand aspects of the actual war itself. I’m not sure about other countries aside from the US, but the war in the Pacific is something that shaped both nations and forged ties between Australia and the US. Also I have a personal and academic interest in this war as my grandfather was a veteran of the Pacific conflicts.

Andrew and Mitchell end up in the infamous Japanese POW camp, Changi, located on the Changi Peninsula in Singapore. Much of southeast Asia was occupied by Japan at this point, the Fall of Singapore itself occurred in February 1942. I have been fascinated by the POW camp Changi and the Thai-Burma Railway for years, which stems from watching an Australian war drama/comedy called Changi.

I am explaining this because this links back to me reading the war diaries of an Australian war veteran and doctor, Edward “Weary” Dunlop. Of course, there is a lot of information about Japanese comfort women (another thing that came to my mind here, some were taken from the Changi women’s POW camp). But here we encounter the most hated term, “sodomy”. But there is a passage in Weary Dunlop’s diary where he recounts convincing the Japanese officers to allow him to get the men to dig pointless trenches so that they were so tired they would not be tempted to have sex.

I apologize for the impromptu history lesson.

I’ll simply end by reiterating that this was a wonderfully intense read. An example of this is the descriptions of the scenery, since I’ve been to Japan I can say for sure that the descriptions were so accurate it was like I was there, except in a different time. For me the vivid descriptions helped me connect to Andrew’s situation – the emotions and the persecution and abuse he suffers.

Take your time because although I did not get confused through the book there was just so much going on. Anyone interested in military history with a bit of personal hardships of the characters will no doubt enjoy this.

For me, anything depicting wars always leads to tears, but in this case they were satisfying tears, in a twisted sense.

Review: I was intrigued by this well written story as it had both characters POV’s which is rare. I thoroughly enjoyed the romance between Andrew and Levi as their relationship progressed. I Understood Andrew’s hostility about the result that was done to him by another.

This is a very emotional story. It had me in tears several times. Especially Andrew. My heart broke as it seemed he was trying to deal with what happed and to come through.

The entire book seemed realistic as the story unfolds and draws the reader in the journey of two men trying making a life together.

Great read with some hot sex thrown in.

Review: Brett Wright is twenty-three and even though his grandfather has recently passed he still feels as if he can’t go to his grandmother thinking that she too had turned him away when his grandfather did when he came out. He is also realizing that things about him seem to be changing.

He has always liked being in the ocean but now he seems drawn to it. After being stalked by a strange man he sets fire to himself yet, doesn’t burn. He wakes up with a hot man who turns out to be a witch.

Sound good yet? Now add in the man stalking him is a vampire and he finds out that being gay is the least of his problems.

I absolutely loved this book. There is a lot going on. It is very different from most vampire stories and it really isn’t a romance. There is a lot of dealing with inner turmoil, finding oneself, loving and losing.

Brandon has such a way with description that pulls you right into the story. I felt like I was in the water with Brett, at the funeral, hurting, all of it. This is an incredible new world of paranormal with very interesting new types of creatures.

I will warn you though; this story probably isn’t for everyone. There are some scenes of rape and violence and it’s riddled with angst.

I highly recommend this to any one that likes a heartfelt story full of love, and angst, finding out what you are, new worlds, new and interesting creatures, heartache, loss, and some pretty hot man-sex.

Review: Peter is still in the throes of grief nearly a year after his beloved Shayne died. His regrets are hard to deal with and his only solace is listening to Shayne’s voice on his voicemail, then something happens and Peter discovers that fate may just be taking pity on him.

John Goode has produced a story that is touching, its heart-breaking and it is tragic. Peter is in therapy trying to deal with the loss of the love of his life, he knows who is to blame and he lays that blame at fates fickle feet. Peter just can’t move forward, he has regrets, things he never said and now never can, and he just can’t understand why fate would take Shayne away from him.

This is a story that will make tears slide down your cheeks, have you whimpering in denial and praying that you will always have the time to say what you need to. Peter and Shayne had already been through enough, Shayne struck down with HIV but finally pulling through to live a healthy happy life with Peter, but then he is struck down in a car accident and Peter is left alone. Peter has many regrets and can’t let Shayne go; when Shayne answers the phone one night Peter thinks that he might be able to change fate.

This is a true love story of pure love that is cut short, and of the grief and the regret that the person left behind endures. The story of how they got together was sweet and the tale of how they got their nick names was romantic… they were a couple fated to be together. I really want to say more but feel that this is a story that must be read, to fully appreciate the turmoil that Peter is going through and his reactions to what is happening around him.

All I will say is that I cried, I cried for the ‘what if’s’, I cried for his chance to put aside his regrets, for life getting in the way and I cried at knowing he had lost the love of his life.

I am going to recommend this to everyone as it is a story that we all need to read to remind us to appreciate what we have every single day. Now I am off to make sure that my family and friends know how much I love them.
