Blurb: Gamer Elijah Burrows has rather seamlessly taken over the life of his game character, Elian Surgis, in the world of Timiria. Alongside his lover, the lupine mage Sarin Eckhert, Elijah leads survivors of Sarin’s mystical order through the wilds of the province of Tasmorum. They manage to stay just one step ahead of Timiria’s monarch, King Mirov, who seeks to destroy every magic-wielding soul connected to the Labyrinthine Order.

From encounters with a mysterious group of traders on the road, to a revelation of epic proportions, it’s a miracle Elijah has any time to explore his relationship with Sarin. Then Fate throws a wrench into the mix: the appearance of another “traveler” — another gamer stuck in the game world Elijah now calls home. But this particular gamer has ulterior motives that have nothing to do with the Order’s survival.

Review: He was now getting use to this new world and his lover Sarin. Sarin was a lupine mage and he was helping Elijah protect and lead the survivors to a safe place. They came across a woman pretending to not only be a captured wife but a servant. In fact, she was indeed royalty. They were trying to get the end of Mirov out of the way. He was an evil lord that wanted magic-wielding souls.

Sarin and Elija have very little time exploring their lives together. Elijac was also Elian a surprising twist. Sarin and Elian had been lovers for a while. Sarin had seen something in him that made him want to release him from the prison he set in and love him for life. Now he was here with Elija/Elian in more than just love, but protection and survival. The twist to this story was another gamer had found his way into their lives. Except he had chosen to work for Mirov. A gamer that has ulterior motives that might just get them all killed.

This story was a blast to read and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next story. I love the way it just comes together. I also love Elija and Sarin. They are so sexy and protective of each other. They are in love and are just trying to survive and keep their friends safe. They are trying to get rid of evil and give the world back to those who intend goodness.

I would recommend reading this story if you love dark fantasy, paranormal, magical beings, earthlings that get caught in a world that they created, excitement, adventure and suspense, danger coming at them all and hot sex.

Blurb: From the moment he sees a photograph of Dalton Manor, a 17th-Century estate located in the picturesque English countryside, Joel Howard knows he must stay there while on vacation, in spite of the lack of nightly distraction to be had in London’s gay village.

After arriving in England with his friend Shelley, Joel immediately arranges to visit the grand estate, and during a tour, he sets eyes on the portrait of the handsome Patrice Dumont and his lovely young bride, Rosalie, the owners of the manor three hundred years ago.

Joel cannot explain the emotion he feels as he stares at the portrait, or his particular obsession with an ash tree he views on the property later that night. He also can’t explain why the ancient estate seems to talk to him, literally, or why the ghostly voice coming from inside the walls keeps calling him by the name of Andre.

As the moments tick by, Joel comes ever closer to the edge of danger and soon learns the answers to his questions…in every horrifying detail…

Review: A beautifully written story of a love so strong not even death could break it. Patrice Dumont married a woman at their families insistence. A few years into the marriage he falls in love with a gypsy named Andre. Unfortunately, his wife Rosalie, who is a powerful witch, finds out and has Andre hung. Stricken with grief Patrice tells his wife he’ll never love her. She curses Patrice and he remains buried underground for hundreds of years until Joel sets him free.

I was appalled at what lengths Rosalie went to in order to keep Patrice hers. She seemed a little demented to me in thinking she’d get Patrice to love her if she did away with Andre. Not to mention the curse she put on Patrice.

Joel started hearing and seeing things as soon as he arrived at Dalton Manor. I was in awe at the breathtaking details of the manor as well as Joel be able to see different things that had happened in the past. Hot and passionate sex added a spicy element. Great read.

Blurb: Love and family, the two things Dieter wants most are slipping away. His uncle, the man who raised him as a father, is dead. Now his brother can’t wait to bulldoze and sell the family farm. Yet Dieter clutches at the memories of the past, fighting to hold them close. What Dieter doesn’t know is the past can be present and what is dead doesn’t always stay dead. He discovers that Dark Loves wants to live in the light.

“Dark Love” is a paranormal romance set in Stephen del Mar’s Bennett Bay region of Florida. There are witches, faeries, bears, twinks, a dragon drive by, and one very determined fag hag. Once again del Mar gives us the rich texture of his Florida setting that goes from the bayside tourist town of Bennett Bay to the backwater country hamlet of Live Oak. Remember, things are not always what they seem. And be careful what you do under the light of the full moon!

Review: This is one of the books for the Bennet Bay series. It is a pretty good book. It comes off really dark fantasy type though. I wasn’t to sure what to think about it though. It seemed old world to me.

Dieter wants love and family. When his uncle passes away he goes down to the old farm to look around and say goodbye, but in reality, he is just left with more questions. He goes down there and meets up with his brother to discuss what they should do. However, his brother shocks him with his attitude and then even more when he leaves him there alone. When one of his best friends, Innes come down to spend the time with him and help him he is appreciative of the help. But it just gets even stranger for him. It would seem that the little box he had assumed was just an urn was in fact a soul catcher with magic surrounding it. His friend is a witch and gets a bit scared from it. What surprises him was when Innes tells him not to get any of his sperm into the box that holds the soul catcher and the ashes of Borris. A drinker who can only survive on the orgasm and sperm of men. The love of the Dieter’s uncle. Dieter is just about as lost as one can be.

Back in the time when the Nazi’s were in power is where the story truly begins. Dieter’s uncle, Wolfgang was thirteen years old and was in the Nazi camp. Most people remember that the Nazi’s were into the paranormal world and did experiments on people. When they came across someone who could only survive on sperm, they found a way to make his pain even worse. When Boris was not fed, he would go into a blood lust and would kill those around him. However, Wolfgang was the only one who truly saw Boris and not a monster. They had fallen in love. The Nazi’s were going to kill Boris in front of Wolfgang and that would destroy him. He had found away to keep his soul alive. Then many years later after Wolfgang’s death, Dieter comes home for the funeral. Finds the box and tells his best friend. Innes is a witch and knew what the box was, so in a fit of frustration tells Dieter not to get his sperm in it. Talk about a fantastic twist.

Dieter isn’t to sure about his friends and doesn’t have a clue about the paranormal stuff that seems to be coming around. Witches, faeries, bears, dragons and a very determined fag hag are only parts of the surprises coming around. And all he thinks about is the fact that he is just a restaurant owner who lost his uncle. So despite Innes talk about sperm and the box, he chooses not to listen. And Boris is brought back. Cursed he is still in the body of a nineteen year-old. They knew that they had to figure out how to help Boris.

When I heard this title I thought paranormal for sure, but it also comes off kind of different. The box that had held Boris’s spirit had a saying on it, to dust and from dust. Dark love grows from the seed planted under the full moon. Now when you get this story your thinking just about the paranormal parts to it, but it shows you something that many people still think is true. The Dark Love is in fact the love between two men.

It is the first time that I have heard that the love between two men was dark love, but it makes sense that some people thought that. I never really understood it though. I can’t help but think that these people need to see that this love is in fact very special. With this book, you get the feeling of the love these men have for each other. I love how Dieter meets Yanko. Their eyes meet their attraction to each other strong. Yanko is there for it all and Dieter finally realizes he loves this man more than anything in this world. He would give up everything to keep his lover safe.

I would recommend this book to everyone. It gives you everything that you can ever want. I love the dark fantasy touch, the different types of paranormal creatures, the love of Dieter and Yanko, and the way that everyone in this story is a family. A family not of blood but of love and choice. It is an amazing story and I cannot wait to read more from this author.

Excerpt

Dedrus scanned Kinzer’s body, admiring his massive biceps, his brown eyes, and his black waves of hair. Even with the wounds and tears that still tainted his face, he was beautiful. Dedrus wanted to press him back against the cushion, rip off his clothes, and provide him with the ease he deserved. But no! He was just wanting it for himself, and he was pretending that it was to serve Kinzer’s pain.

“I loved him so much.” The words cracked through Kinzer’s lips. His cheeks and forehead shivered. Tears filled his eyes. “I know we had so much time, but it wasn’t enough.”

The sting in Dedrus’s chest intensified. His cheeks flashed red as anger washed over him—anger that he loathed because it made him feel like a terrible, selfish creature.

He set his hand on Kinzer’s back, his palm stroking softly across the blue fabric of his polo. He wanted to say, “You’ll find love again.” He couldn’t, because he knew he’d really be saying, “Please find love in me.” He thought of saying, “Everything will be alright.” No. He couldn’t make that kind of promise. “It’ll take time,” felt appropriate, and yet, as an immortal, Dedrus never perceived time as a generous gift as much as a twisted, agonizing punishment.

“I wish I could think of something right to say about this,” Dedrus said, “but I can’t. I know how much you loved him, and I know how much he loved you, and I can’t imagine how hard this is going to be for you. But I’m here. As your friend. I don’t know if that means much, but I know the feeling of having something so perfect and wonderful torn from you.”

Kinzer’s gaze met his. His eyes were sad.

Does he know what I’m talking about?

“Tell me you’ve found someone,” Kinzer said.

“Of course,” he lied. “I’m just being overdramatic.”

“I figured as much. Considering where you work, I’m sure you get a lot of offers.”

It was true, but not the way Kinzer was suggesting. There were nights when Treycore dragged some pathetic mortal back to ease Dedrus’s pain. Those nights were the loneliest. Though he could bring himself to climax, it was an empty relief that just stirred the cruel memories of those moments filled with so much more.

Dedrus hugged him again. “Let’s get to bed,” he said. “You need some sleep.”

Kinzer nodded.

“We have plenty to sort through tomorrow. You can have my room. I’ll just sleep here.”

Dedrus released him.

Kinzer picked the sword up off his lap and stood. He reached his hand out. “Come on. It won’t be the first time we’ve shared a bed.”

The upward curl of his lip let Dedrus know that Kinzer was more than interested.

Dedrus’s dick swelled. “I don’t think I can.” He wanted Kinzer so bad, and if he put himself in that position, he was sure that he wouldn’t be able to resist making a move—especially if Kinzer initiated something.

“I’d rather not disrespect you like that,” Dedrus said.

Kinzer’s hand fell, bouncing against his jeans. His head drooped.

“Then I guess I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Dedrus smiled. “‘Night, Kinzer.”

Kinzer knelt, offering a light peck on Dedrus’s lips.

Don’t tease me with a taste!

“Up the stairs, first room on the right.”

Kinzer walked up the stairs, headed down the hall, and slipped into Dedrus’s bedroom.

Dedrus had hoped that Kinzer’s exit would provide some relief.

It didn’t.

He ached for him. His thoughts dwelled on Kinzer’s lips tickling his nipples, his gaze appreciating his body, his tongue delighting in his body’s grooves. He wanted to run upstairs and throw his arms around him, to hold him for the night, and tell him that no matter what happened he’d be there for him. He wanted more than that, but he wouldn’t press his friend. He wouldn’t dare cross that line…even if Kinzer insisted.

Spreading his limbs across the couch, he rested his head on a lace pillow at the end and rolled so that he was facing the cushions.

He closed his eyes.

A few moments passed before something pressed against his ass.

He flipped over and hopped to his feet, ready for a fight.

Kinzer stood before him, holding his hands out, as if showing a cop that he was unarmed. “Whoa, cowboy. Chill the fuck out.”

“Sorry.” Every hair on Dedrus’s immortal body stood on end. “You freaked the shit out of me. Did you need something? Another cover? Pillows?”

Kinzer wiggled his thumb behind the waistband in Dedrus’s khakis.

“Yeah. I need something.” He pulled their pelvises together.

His hot breath rushed across Dedrus’s lips, settling in the bristles across his cheeks. The warmth combined with a rush of blood that surged to his face and made him feel like his cheeks were about to catch on fire.

Kinzer pressed his lips against Dedrus’s.

Amidst the creases in Kinzer’s lips, Dedrus felt the smooth, subtle dip where Kinzer’s cut was healing.

He trailed his palm over the rough fabric of Kinzer’s polo. As he reached the smooth flesh of his neck, curly black hairs pricked his fingertips.

Kinzer opened his mouth wide. Dedrus eagerly reciprocated, tilting his head and allowing their lips to seal together. A swirling sensation gathered at the back of his spine and rushed to the crown of his skull.

Guilt nagged at his thoughts. He couldn’t do this. Kinzer didn’t really want him. He was just vulnerable and ached for a physical distraction from his grief. It would be wrong to take advantage while he was still recovering from Janka’s death.

Kinzer’s tongue flicked his.

He wanted Kinzer so bad, but not like that. Pressing his hand against the dip between the bulbous, jagged pecs before him, he broke their sealed kiss.

“What?” Kinzer rested his hands on either of Dedrus’s hips.

“This wouldn’t be right. I don’t want to disrespect you.”

“I know. But I want you to.”

Kinzer wrapped both arms around Dedrus. Spinning them around, he pushed Dedrus back against a painting that hung from the wall.

Kinzer’s eyes glistened with that gleam—the one that was so familiar to Dedrus.

Dedrus couldn’t control himself. His lips returned to their passionate embrace. His fingers found their way under Kinzer’s shirt, feeling about fervently, savoring the dips in his torso.

Review: Kinzer awakes to find himself chained in the mortal world, his wings removed and his lover dead and his only hope is to escape and warn Satan’s allies that a mole has leaked their location to The Raze. Kid lived on the street after running away from an abusive home life and then was taken off the streets and plunged into the world of sex trafficking, the only thing he dreams of now is freedom. The two are thrown together as they make an escape and Kid is thrown into a war between God and Satan.

This is a very dark erotic story that throws good and evil on its head. God wants to destroy the world, a world he created for his lover Satan, because Satan left him and now it is up to Satan and his followers to stop the destruction of humanity. The Raze is a group of Fallen angels who are trying to get back into God’s good graces and to do that they are planning the destruction of humanity. Kinzer is one of the Fallen sent in to spy on the Raze for Satan, but when he and his lover are discovered Kinzer has to turn to the angel who once broke his heart.

This is a great storyline that has good and evil, danger and escapes, blood and violence and pain filled sex, and terrible betrayal. It is darkly erotic and weaves a tale that is dark from the onset. We meet many characters in this story, some good, some evil and some innocent but all of them know pain in one form or the other whether it is physical pain or emotional pain. This isn’t the story to read if you want happy ever afters or a sweet romance, it’s the story to read when you want dark and dangerous, pain and pleasure jumbled together so it teases the dark reaches of your soul.

Following along after Kinzer or Kid we are plunged into a world where they both have tortured souls, the story pulls around both of them leading you into darker territory and you can’t see any happiness on the horizon. This is a really good storyline that is far from finished, there is nothing that has been resolved except Kinzer discovers the truth of his capture and we are plunged further into the depths of evil that The Raze flourish in.

If you are looking for a blossoming relationship then there are hints of one but it is far from pretty. There was a slight hope of a rekindling romance that started in punishment and violence but the muses deemed it too easy and leave us feeling sore, now there is a glimmer of vengeance on the horizon but stopping The Raze isn’t going to be easy. Now while I did like this story and thought the storyline was good I really did find all the sex to be a bit too violent for my taste, and I mean all the sex, there isn’t one touch that doesn’t lead to pain being mixed in and while I do like a bit of pain tinged sex there was just a bit too much for me to truly enjoy.

I recommend this to those who love dark sex, dark erotica, dark fantasy and violence, betrayal and hopes dashed, a story that pulls you in even as you want to hit the breaks for a bit and a great storyline that is far from over.

Review: Wow, this book is something else. It was amazing how they made the whole book flow just perfect. It had the right amount of danger, excitement, and adventure. The way they can make the whole story magical.

Angel was a NFL star quarterback who had been injured during one game made his home in Angel Falls. He was genuine, gentle, kind and sort of a recluse. He finds an injured man who had wings and decides to bring him home. Klintic is a fae warrior prince that got betrayed by his father and kicked out of his realm. He is strong and powerful with lots of magical gifts. He has met his mate in this human who has done everything to help him. The sex is out of this world all hot and sensuous. You can’t help but fall for these two men.

I admit this book made me wonder about all sorts of things, but I absolutely loved it. It is divided into two stories so you have to read the next book to get the full amount of laughter and fun. I laughed so hard that I wasn’t really sure I would stop. It showed what happens when people get betrayed by those claiming they loved them. It shows the abilities to overcome all their hardships and pain, and then turn them into passion and fire. I loved this story and will definitely be checking out the rest of Stephanie’s books. I recommend reading this.

Blurb: Owen was born into a Were family, and like those before him, he is expected to turn on the full moon of his twenty-first birthday. And there are especially high expectations concerning Owen’s shift from boy to wolf, given that his birthday falls on the night of the full moon itself.

But when the full moon rises on that fate night, nothing happens. While others around him change, he stays the same, forced to run for his life from the angry pack. Needless to say, Owen is a disappointment to his family.

But then a mysterious and sexy stranger with wickedly tempting eyes comes to stay at Owen’s mothers boardinghouse, a stranger regarded as suspicious by the clan, who apparently knows that there is far more to Owen than his failure to shift….

Review: This is part of the Growl AmberPax Collection but can be bought and read separately.

It is a really strange book, but one I can see reading over and over. Although I do wish it was longer, because it left me hanging and with questions. I really want a story that has a beginning that introduces the characters, then the story of their lives, and then the end. This one had me trying to figure out who everyone was, what they were really up too and where will Owen end up.

Owen had turned twenty-one and was supposed to change into his wolf. However, that did not happen. It left him with a lot of hateful wolves including his own family. So when Sloane shows up at his mother’s boardinghouse, he was just trying to figure out who this man was. Sloane kidnaps him and takes him away from his family. The only problem is Sloane tells him that not only is he a special type of wolf, but that Sloane is a natural-born alpha wolf. It is foretold that an omega kills all the wolves. Owen flat-out refuses to follow the rules, and he knows that all he wants is this man.

Sloane wants to kill Owen’s family because of the fact that Owen’s uncle had killed Sloane’s family. Revenge is all he is thinking about, however it would also mean his death. What he didn’t expect was to fall in love with a quirky fireball.

I always wondered what it meant by dark fantasy and I come to the conclusion that this story tells it perfectly. It has a darkness to it and I was surprise to find out that I really did like the story. I would recommend this book to anyone who loved shapeshifters, werewolves, two hot and sexy men, hot sex, and lots of twist and turns. It keeps you on the edge of the seat. However, I do not like books where it leaves me wondering. This one I actually loved.

Review: I have found another favorite story. Vivien has a gift for telling stories. It is amazing how the characters come together and the world just seems different when they are in it. I love how she made Elijah and Denny sound. They had fallen in love with each other while they were children. Then separated when Elijah had been bitten and turned into a werewolf. Elijah had been scared that Denny would reject him if he found out so he had run. Ran from the one person who loved him with all his heart.

Denny had searched for Elijah but never able to find him. He had at one time moved on or so he thought, but realized when him and his brother were saving a pack of wolves from evil men and found Elijah that he had in fact just pushed the love down. He was a police officer and always thought it meant to save people. Not just humans but wolves also, however the government thought different. So he and his brother did everything they could do to save them.

Now that they are back together, they will do everything in their power to stay together and never part again. Denny will do everything to keep Elijah safe as will Elijah. Once you start reading this, you will fall in love with them and cheer them on. Praying that they stay safe and be able to make their future one that is full of happiness.

This story caught my attention from the start and kept it all the way to the end. I would recommend this story to anyone who loves two hot men, amazing sex, werewolves, and danger. Hero’s come in all shapes and sizes, and that is what this story is about also. They place their selves in danger saving those who are being hurt. I loved this story and cannot wait to read it again and again.

Blurb: Can Men who each bridge two worlds make a life together?

Blaze Canis is doing what he loves best. As a shooting range instructor just outside Yellowstone National Park, the former Navy SEAL sniper is still handling firearms. When Shoshoni native Logan Rider walks into his class one morning, the attraction each man feels for the other is sudden, almost mystical. Since Blaze’s teammates never knew he was gay, let alone a werewolf, he’s confident in hiding his wolf nature from Logan, too.

But will keeping his secret work, or will it blow up in Blaze’s face as his relationship with the American native deepens?

Review: This is part of the Growl AmberPax Collection but can be read separately. Carolina has a wonderful way with words, and can spin a tell that will bring you into a world that will help you disappear. This story is truly a work of art. I love the way the words just flow with such tender feelings. It almost made me cry in certain parts of it. Blaze is an alpha werewolf, sniper, retired SEAL and you can see the loving side of him. He teaches how to handle firearms at the shooting range and usually loves it. When Logan walks in, he is just loving it a lot more. He wants this man.

.

Logan is a very gorgeous Shoshoni Indian, very gifted artist, and comes home to visit his grandfather. He wanted a refresher course on handling his gun, but when he meets his instructor, he is fascinated. It would seem they both want each other, but Blaze is still hiding his true self. There is danger in the forest, and Blaze realizes it is another werewolf.

.

Logan finds out Blaze’s secret when Blaze saves him from the black wolf, fears that he is a skinwalker and runs. Blaze knew he should have told him, but he just hadn’t known the true feeling of what it really meant. When Logan comes back, he needs to trust this man with all of his secrets.

.

I would recommend this story for anyone who loves the paranormal, shapeshifters, two very sexy men, hot sex, and dangers. They come together hot and fast, but when the times comes with trouble it leaves them hanging with concerns. However, they will learn to overcome their challenges and grow to love each other even stronger. I loved this story and cannot wait to read more by Carolina.

Blurb: King Kavan, ruler of the kingdom of Decius, wants to kill all vampires in the land. What he hasn’t reckoned on is his second-in-command running off with one of the winged creatures or that he would fall in love with the beautiful Harben. Keeping Harben locked in his tower, with orders to maim the vampire’s wings should he escape, isn’t conducive to receiving Harben’s love in turn, but what happens when Kavan’s forbidden feelings are tested? Would he save Harben’s life at the expense of his own?

Review: As far as paranormal love stories, this one ranks up pretty high on the want list. It is a very bizarre story, with two human’s and two vampires. Hatred and love come hand in hand. It is a bit hard to get into and actually understand however, it is a good story nonetheless.

King Kavan hates vampires with a passion. He comes off cold and evil. He captured Harben to torture and eventually kills him, however something amazing happens. He starts to see the compassion that Harben has, the fact that he is gentle and kind. The king starts to fall in love with Harben. As does his truth seeker Lucius. Lucius falls in love with Eachan after capturing him for his king and tortures him. All Harben ask for is true freedom, with many chances to escape he stays for Kavan. Kavan sleeps with about anyone in the castle. However, it takes him a bit of time to realize that there is more to his life than the cruelty and pain he gives to those around him. He would give up his life to save this vampire from death, protect him with all that he has. They have all found love, now they just have to survive. The sex is hot, sensuous, and full of passion. It will set the sheets on fire.

Scarlet has a wonderful gift of telling stories. She gives you characters that you want to hate but end up loving. I have always loved to lose myself in a good romance. She gives me that chance when I read this story. I wanted to hate Kavan, but in the end, I wanted him to be with Harben. To realize love will win over every other choice. I love the paranormal world especially with sexy men to fantasies about, however this book was missing quite a bit for me to really love it. It just came off a bit wrong. Don’t get me wrong it is a good book with a wonderful world to live in, well despite the hunters trying to kill the vampires.

Blurb: Never stop fighting.

Kendras is a casualty of war: injured, penniless, and quite possibly the last surviving member of the only family he’s ever had—the elite fighting force known as the Scorpions. When a steel-eyed mercenary offers him medicine and shelter in exchange for submission and a secret task, Kendras has no choice but to accept. He is a Scorpion; he’ll do whatever it takes to survive.

But his true goal is to rebuild the Scorpions. Neither Steel’s possessive nature nor Kendras’s shattered foot can keep him from finding the last of his brothers, or the mysterious leader of the Scorpions, the man who held Kendras’s heart long before Steel tried to take it for himself.

The goal is simple, the situation anything but. To rescue his leader and escape from Steel for good, Kendras must fight through a morass of politics and intrigue where enemies may be allies and even allies have hidden agendas. But Kendras isn’t only fighting for his lost lover and tribe—he soon realizes that nothing less than the birth of an Empire is at stake.

Being the first writer to introduce me to the m/m genre, it is safe to say that Voinov is one of my favorite authors. It is also safe to say that I’ve grown to expect anything and everything from this author, from romance to explicit erotica and from sci-fi to extreme dark fantasy.

So I expected to dive in this book and not be released from its spell unless it was over, I expected it to rock my world, I expected it to make me feel and intensely so. Still I didn’t saw it coming full force and hit me like a punch in the gut. And I lost count of how many times I was left there jaw hanging slack and shivers running through my body re-reading the same paragraph over and over again just because it was so very amazingly gritty and violent that I simply could not take my eyes of and move on.

Yes, I’m and addict when it comes to Voinov’s special brand of violence, I’m and addict when it comes to his horrific erotic scenes, and I’m an addict to the way he makes a perfectly terrifying character, one that should make me want to scream and run for my life, to the most delicious and lovable character ever.

If you don’t know this author’s work then frankly you don’t know what you’re missing; if you do than you’ll understand me when I say that more often than not I’m left speechless simply because there doesn’t seem to exist good enough words to talk about it.

In this book, we meet Kendras, a member of an elite military unit, The Scorpions. The unit is the family nobody can shatter. There is nothing above it and all and everything revolves around the members. They fight together, live together, die together and above all, they never stop fighting.

Unfortunately, in the last battle, too many members died and the fear that all is lost is almost consuming Kendras. He’s been shipped away from the field and lost contact with everybody, he’s wounded, to the brink of death but he must keep living and fighting and try to get his way back to find out what happened to his unit, to his Officer.

He must do whatever it takes to get well and on the road again, even if that means to give himself, however temporarily, to Steel, a mysterious man with a hidden agenda and seemingly soulless, who for whatever reason wants Kentras to be and work with him.

And this is how things are set in motion, a wide web of intrigues and political games for power, assassins coming from every corner and people dying from least expected hands. Corruption and hunger of every form are seen and a mind-blowing plot is slowly unraveled, steadily taking every ounce of your sanity away in its path.

The characters are many, their personalities each unique and the dialogues often have a gritty sense of humor you can’t resist. The erotic relations between the characters are limitless and often the lines blur, and the eroticism is heady driving you in a mindless swirl of emotions. Hot, sexy, debauched, or even forced everything is written with a seducing pen that makes even the crudest scene seem strangely alluring. Expect that, expect anything and you’ll be able to ride it in its full glory instead of staring shocked.

The plot was quite powerful too with so many unexpected twists and turns that keep you always on your toes never allowing you to relax for a single bit. And the world created oh my, such an enticing one, I can’t wait for the next book of the series to come just for the brief chance to get in there once again.

If there is one thing about this book that somehow let me down is the fact that we never really saw Kendras in the heart of a battle. Yes, he was wounded for the better part and yes, he did kill somebody, but I was waiting for that bloodthirsty Scorpion to wreak havoc and I didn’t get that. A bit disappointed there but hopefully he’ll come back in book #2 and do just that.

Conclusion after all the above… Well, freaking awesome and definitely on my favorite shelf where books that I take out and read to fix me up are put. The Scorpion is just too good to miss.

Blurb: Ronan’s only choice when he suspects his sister has been taken by the fairies is to brave the path between the worlds to bargain for her return. He knows well the old tales and folk magic necessary to open the way, but he is wholly unprepared for what comes after. Because his impetuousness draws the interest of ruthless King Finnbheara, who intends to extract a price for his cooperation that may be too high for Ronan to pay.

Review: Oh My God! What a freaking, creepy, psychedelic read. Loved it!
Yeah, I know there must be something wrong with me, because I simply adore these kinds of books.

Ah, what can I say about this book. Well first of you must really like dub-con stories because Ronan here has gotten himself into some serious trouble. Believing that his sister Rose is forced to serve the fairies and getting up his mind to save her from her fate, he literally barges into the unknown.

Demanding things from Gods never brought anyone results, but going all cocky like around sadistic child-like immortals is bound to get you into more trouble you’ve ever thought possible. After all, why should a God bow to a mere mortal’s demands?

No, this is not a romantic read where some immortal forcibly takes a mortal and yet falls in love with him in the end with them living happily ever after. I’m not so sure there is a happy for now end for this shorty. It definitely is the run-as-fast-as-you-can kind. The character here is tricked to believe the fairies have his sister, then forced to endure for his “sister’s” sake believing he’s trading his self for her, told that his notions are false and that the fairies never had the sister in first place, mistrusting them and thinking they lie until that very sister verifies that story… Horror I tell, this story should be shelved in the horror category. Because when poor Ronan gets his head in order he sees how he’s been played, but beyond that, he is now linked forever with the fairy world. Never again, will he be able to sever ties with the Gods that come to him every single nigh, no matter how far or fast he runs…

Yes, a splendid story indeed, and I gave way not all of it so much so that if you say there are spoilers here that will be the understatement of the century, but it really matters. It doesn’t matter, because no matter how accurately I tell you the entire story, I’ll never be able to produce the feeling you get when reading this story. The anxiety I felt all the time, the nail-biting feelings, the hot, carnal, and deeply dark erotic scenes, the gripping writing that has you tethered and shackled on you chair while you literally inhale the read…

In short if you’re even slightly fond of the genre, grab this short, it’s delicious and so wicked, it will make a fantastic fast read for your evening.

Review:  In Warlock Unchained – Detroit City Warlocks Stephanie Hecht re-introduces modern-day prison camps for those born with magical talent.  Even with the solid plot line and cohesive story structure, at times the writing is a tad clunky and chewy, especially in the beginning.

This is a wonderful tale with characters that the writer leaves us wanting to know more about.  The depth of Warlock Unchained could easily transfer into a full-length novel.  And, more importantly, I believe it has the potential to become one of Paranormal’s full-fledged Classic contenders.

Review: This would be a great book for those who loved the paranormal and multiple lovers. I had a difficult time getting into it, but the story line was good. His name is Rak, but for honor reasons you always put the S before the name S’Rak. S’Rak is a high priest with the gift of foresight. He sees a young man, an unknown prince and knows he must save him.  There is a lot of world building and you are left with many unanswered questions. But, for the first of a series, it’s not bad. I look forward to more of this world.

Blurb: Gay BDSM Fantasy. Adam is a submissive masochist living on a planet which systematically persecutes sadomasochists. Like other exposed sadomasochists, he has been forced into a street life. Nevertheless, he is determined to find his sir. Adam believes he is searching for a man, but his search leads him to a black winged angel. Review: An immortal being often called an angel or God, and often referred to as monster, Camulus, visits a planet that he finds somehow weird in its society structure. While gays were once upon a time prosecuted and hunted, nowadays they are tolerated by their peers, but everyone in this world has a strong hate/disgust attitude toward masochistic submissives of any genre. Even the once that were once chased and often brutally killed have now same sentiments toward their fellow citizens due to their show of affection and need for mixing their pleasure with pain. Ironic is the fact that sadist don’t bear the same fate as they are far in between and are somewhat tolerated. Ironic is the fact that Comulus is one sadistic creature who adores masochists that are wired to thrive in pain.

When Comulus sets his eyes on Adam, a man of a rare disposition, a pure-breed masochist, he makes up his mind to stop his wandering through the starts, settle on this planet for a while, and enjoy this rarity. And this is how this story begins.

Now, the idea was too enticing for me to pass. A society so judgmental on one aspect of someone’s sexuality or sexual needs that they go into obsession and downright hatred against this small group with outrageous displays of brutality. A relationship between an Immortal and a mortal in the mists of chaos. The birth of outmost trust when fear and betrayal wait in every corner. A sadomasochistic pair whose dynamic should be wondrous to witness and explore. It has everything I require in a read, everything that grips me and make me succumb.

Unfortunately, despite the advantages, this read lacked the one thing that would make it grate. It lacked the connection between book and reader. The narration was too clinical, too detached for you to feel the characters deep in your core. The Angel, a powerful being that should have served the rise in the intensity level, lacked the mysticism of his presence. Adam’s needs and the danger level of his very existence were lost in narration and the way the story was told left you no way of feeling it or relating at a minor point with its characters.

Both Comulu’s and Adam’s introduction was hastily made, with no build up for their interaction, and there is a serious lack of passion as the story start. We only get to see more of them after the second chapter, but then again the text suffered from “telling” and the sensuality, the eroticism, and the powerful dynamics of an S/M relationship blooming were not felt. Every intimate scene was spoilt by the inner thoughts of the characters, taking you away from the scene itself until it was over and you were told the end result. All my eagerness for the masochistic streak of the protagonist was lost, as I did not feel his levels of tolerance; I did not get to lose myself in the magic of such creature and the pleasure of ultimate erotic pain. Even the air suspension scene was lost in thought about completely different things and Adam’s chance to shine was lost in the time leap. Such a shame that one was.

The end itself was in line with the start. The narrator jumped the years and gave us a mild satisfactory end where Adam gets some sort of acceptance from the one who betrayed him while he got a completely different reaction from the one who supposedly loved him. The contradiction made for a perfect example of society and human interactions. I also totally love the last final line.

But all in all, I felt this read did not explore its full possibilities and while it could be quite powerful with its idea, we got a mild, detached story.

Blurb: It’s been several years since the end of the Mage wars. Those born with the taint of magic are sent to places like Spiretown, a city within a city that serves as a prison for its inhabitants. Logan Grey is the self-proclaimed mayor of this ghetto, but he’s suddenly found himself in some trouble, and he needs help from an unlikely source.

Templar Battalion Commander Collin Anderfels is having a very bad week. His fiancée left him for his best friend, he was blown up in a raid gone wrong, and now he’s been forced to protect a man who represents everything that Collin loathes. Worse still is the fact that Logan Grey keeps saving his life, and he seems intent on bedding the young Commander, despite Collin’s sometimes violent protests.

Somehow, beyond prejudice and deceit these two unlikely partners find themselves becoming more than just allies, but can a love born from lies survive when the gates of hell are torn open?

Review: Spiretown, a place where people born with the taint (magic) are shipped to when their magic becomes apparent. Logan is a mage, who has his own little part of the world in Spiretown. But, he needs help when he discovers the Red Seal (a group of rogue mages) are targeting him. So, he approaches an unlikely source for assistance. Collin is a Templar Commander.  His group is there to keep the mages in place and to destroy any who succumb to the demons. Being approached by a mage for protection is astounding; beginning to have feelings for the mage just might destroy him.

This story is slightly dark, with prejudice, hate, anger and fear, breaking down those emotions and finding love. When Collin’s team is lead into an ambush by the Red Seal, he never thought his savior would be a mage.  But, that mage wants something in return, he wants protection. Logan needs the help of the Templar if he is going to bring down the Red Seal. Saving Collin fit into his plans, and now he just needs his web of lies to come to fruition. But, neither Logan nor Collin reckoned on an emotional connection forming between them. But, it is that love that just might save them all, when the Red Seal attempt to rip open the gates of Hell.

This is a great story if you are looking for a story that is drenched in angst and darkness. After the Mage Wars, all humans showing the taint of magic were rounded up and put in places like Spiretown.  Children taken from their parents were handed over to the clergy and Logan was one of those children. Templers are plainbloods (humans with no ‘taint’), who are given the task of dealing with any mages who succumb to demons.  Many of them, like Collin, hate the mages due to losses of family in the Mage Wars. Logan is a special mage though; he has special abilities that the Red Seal want.  Logan turns to Collin for help and it begins a complex relationship between the mage and the Templar.

I have to admit to that this story isn’t black and white.  Neither character is particularly lovable due to their personalities, but the longer you read the more you understand what drives them. The storyline is brilliant, but twisted, and at times will turn your stomach, especially when it comes to Logan’s past. We see a huge development in Collin’s psyche as he comes to realize that not all mages are evil and that some humans do deserve what they get.  The relationship he develops with Logan is not easy, but it is something that he would give everything up for. Logan is a very complex character and how he has been treated as a child has left scars on his soul.  It has also molded him into the way he is now and it’s a miracle he isn’t completely insane.

I have to recommend this if you love angst, demons, mages, harsh lives, some hot sex, great descriptions, some horrific scenes, a love emerging against the odds and an ending that has hope.

And a serial killer begins targeting infecteds in their cat form—something that’s 100 percent legal.

To stop the murders, Roan has to work outside the law. But his newfound thirst for violence makes him worry he might be more like the killer than he thought, and his reluctance to talk about it with his husband, Dylan, puts an extra strain on their relationship. So Roan isn’t just fighting the killer and struggling with his mutating virus… he’s trying to save himself.

Review: This book is part of a series and MUST be read in order. Roan is back and he knows that his control on his lion is slipping.  It is getting harder and harder to ignore the need for bloodshed and it doesn’t help matters when infecteds become targets yet again. Holden gets in more trouble than he can handle, but payback is a bitch. Dylan is struggling to get Roan to admit to everything that is happening to him and it puts a bigger strain on their relationship. But, Roan is not just fighting for his life; he is fighting for his very Identity.

I love this series and the way it seems to grow and the characters become more involved in a world that seems to becoming more out of control. Roan and Dylan love each other, but Roan doesn’t want Dylan seeing him at his most brutal. He has Holden for that now, he needs Dylan not to be tainted by his lion side as Dylan is (as far as Roan is concerned) the only thing that is keeping Roan human. In the midst of him fighting the battle to stay human, there is a new drug designed to kill Infecteds and someone is hunting the Infecteds when they are in cat form.

For those of you not familiar with the Infected series I advise you to go and pick up the first book before even trying to read any others, especially this one. There really isn’t much that can be said about this book except bloody hell! Lesser Evil is a story that is as brutal as those that came before it but more despairing, because it forces Roan into a situation that he doesn’t want to be in, and forces him to do things he doesn’t want to do. it also makes him face just how different he is from the other Infecteds and how much humans hate them. Roan and Holden are characters that appeal to your darker side, while the hockey players and Dylan appeal to the fun, happy, more normal side of you.

This book is for those who want a true realistic side of shifters, the brutal, painful changes, and the hate from humans, the self-hate and the primal need of the beast. The push and pull of someone who loves an Infected, like Dylan, who is trying to make Roan share all of himself or the easy acceptance from the crazies (lol) like Hawk, Tank and Scott (hockey players) and Holden, especially Holden, who can easily accept the cold bloodiness of Roan’s Lion. Holden, we see a lot of in this book and we also see his confusion as he finds himself in some kind of ‘relationship’ with someone else who is close to Roan. This book also ends with a huge cliff-hanger, will Roan make it back?

This book I recommend to those who want the dark, brutal side of shifters, where being an Infected is a death sentence, and having friends is a blessing and having someone who loves you is a miracle that feels like a curse.

Blurb: Apparently, my twin and I are two of York’s most notorious criminals. We’ve been Nightwalkers in the blue-light district since the vamps took over the world. Don’t know how many years it’s been. Long enough that a stream of fellow ’walkers have come and gone. Most don’t last long selling their chi.  End up face-down in the gutter, or worse.

For us, one night and one sale change everything.

Monsieur Garthelle is the first john to hunt me down. He calls me a chi thief in one breath and offers absolution—servitude—in the next. Maybe I’m a sucker, but I like living and breathing. Strange that such a powerful vamp would show leniency to a mere human. And something’s not right with the chi I took from him. It won’t go away.

Neither will he, and he’s forcing us to spy on his peers. Then a vamp turns up dead, and we go from playing eyes and ears to investigating a murder. This isn’t what I signed up for. All I ever wanted was to sell a little chi, maybe steal some in return. I should’ve kept my damn hands to myself.

This is my story. Look through my eyes.

Review: Black and his twin Jhez are Nightwalkers.  Selling their chi to survive in a world where vampires (lyche) rule; humans are nothing and they have no rights. But Black has been caught stealing chi he now has a choice… do what Garthelle wants or die, well really not much of a choice is it.

A well written novel that takes vampires into an interesting and unique new direction. Black and his sister Jhez have been on the streets since they were about twelve years old.  the old world is gone and the new world is ruled by Lyche’s (humans call them vampires). Black and Jhez survive by selling their chi to the lyche’s and stealing a little bit of chi off the lyche’s, but Black has been caught out by Monsieur of York (Garthelle the main Lyche of the area).  He now has a choice, do as Garthelle wants or else.  But, Black realizes that this time something went wrong, he can’t dispel the chi he took and he now has a connection to Garthelle.

Okay , I am not going to say any more than that because you really need to read the book yourself as there is so much more going on that it would take me ages to write about it. Black and his sister have secrets that nobody can know about; Garthelle has secrets that he won’t let get out. There are quite a few things going on that keep you reading but they all come back to the same thing… Black and Jhez.

Black and Garthelle have a complex bond and neither of them knows how it happened, as the book progresses we see the deepening of the bond and the effects it has on both of them. The progression of their relationship is moderate and it is far from easy. The story-line is strong and the plot very good, the characters are well-developed and I really liked the twists as the story progressed. I must admit that there is a lot of information to take in and I got completely lost on the lyche circles and how they worked.

The mystery surrounding Black’s background intrigues me and I hope there will be a sequel to clear it up. The interaction between Black and Garthelle is very good and the sex is scorching hot, but mistrust comes between them and it takes a lot to straighten it out.

This book I will recommend to those who love complex and dark stories, mystery, intrigue, twists, complex relationships, really hot sex and something a little different about your vampires.

Saddled with a young mortal woman he can’t bring himself to kill, he flees with her to her brother’s house. Carl represents everything that Emilien yearns for, to live life like a normal mortal. Review: Emilien is half vampire – half human, he has struggled with his nature and tried to deny his vampire side for hundreds of years but now his father is set on destroying him and he has to face his vampire side and begin to embrace what makes him the man he is.

This is a well written story that delves into the dark side of vampires and their humanity or lack of it. Emilien might be half vampire but it is a part of himself that he hates, he is drawn to humans as a way to cling onto his humanity. In Carl he finds what he yearns for but there is still apart of him that yearns for Francois. This story has a few twists and a lot of backstabbing; it is primal in some of its descriptions and the view of vampires that we receive.

There were a lot of things that I liked about this book and some things that I hated, I liked that the vampires were quite brutal in their treatment of their food i.e. they drained them dry and felt no remorse, I thought that all the descriptions were fantastically vivid especially the vampire soldiers and that the story-line was brilliant, what I didn’t like was that Emilien cheated with Francois when Carl needed him the most and that he had plans to cheat on Carl again in the future. (Being half vamp doesn’t fly with me that is like saying because someone is bi they get to have one of each sex.)

There is quite a bit of violence, sex, plotting, twists and some angst as well, the story-line and plot on the whole was brilliant and the background and world building was incredible done. There is a lot to enjoy in this story but I must admit that I found it hard to see what everyone else in the story saw in Emilien, everyone wanted to get in bed with him or wanted him for themselves and I really just couldn’t see it.

So this story is for those who love Dark fantasy, brutal vampires, hot sex, violence, graphic nastiness (soldier vamps *barf*) and a happy for now (they do only have about seventy years) ending.

Blurb: Set in a world that closely resembles our own, Burn is a story of redemption and betrayal, of family and sacrifice, which leads to the greatest question of all: how far would you go to save the ones you love?

Fifteen years ago, Felix Paracel killed his mother with fire that shot from his hands. Since then, he has hidden from forces bent on exploiting him and his fire and wind Elemental abilities. But Felix’s world is about to change, because he is Findo Unum—the Split One—and his coming has been foretold for generations.

Though Felix’s arrival brings great joy to the Elemental world, it also heralds a coming darkness. No one knows this better than Seven.—Seven, the mysterious man who rescued Felix from that horrible fire years ago and then disappeared; Seven, who has returned to claim what’s rightfully his: Felix’s heart. But even as Felix begins to trust Seven and his feelings about his place in the world, the darkness reveals itself, bringing consequences no one could have predicted.

Review: Felix/Addy is an Elemental and not just any Elemental, but a duel Elemental.  The only one in the world… he has been kept hidden… he knows nothing of his fate… and he is in grave danger.

When I finished this book I was in two minds, did I like it or not? And I still can’t tell you because even though the story-line and plot was mind-blowing, the detail incredible, the supporting characters great, the fight scenes epic and the sex hot, I wanted to smash the two main characters heads in, stomp on their faces, drop buildings on them and set them on fire.

When the story starts we get a clip of Felix when he is nine, as the story progresses, we learn more of his life which is interesting and I had high hopes for his character.   Well, I did until he met Seven again and he turned into a pussy.  Seven is an overbearing oaf who believes that his word is law and the way that he keeps things from Felix ‘for his own good’ got right up my nose. These two characters were great when they were apart, but together, because of their connection they changed into vomit-inducing wimps.

I know a lot of people will be going “but they were great.”  Well, I challenge you by saying really!! Every time Felix grew a backbone and was going to challenge his father/the council/Seven for answers he’d back down in seconds usually because of something that Seven said or did. Seven would usually cave in to what Felix wanted unless his safety was in question. Now the other characters in this book were brilliant and I loved Tick and Tock they were just… special.

This story is not some romantic light and fluffy read, it’s dark and gritty and there is no happy ever after or happy for now ending, what you have is two men’s hearts breaking as they separate because they have no choice. There is no real romance in this book just an expectation that they will be together and the bonding forcing it.  Seven sleeps with a woman for a number of years even though he knows that Felix is male.  it would have been more realistic if Seven had slept with a man but hay-ho.

This story is actually really well written and although for me the two main characters fell flat this is still a very enjoyable read. I will give a warning though, if you think that you are going to read this book in a few hours then you are sadly mistaken.  anyone who reads this in less than 12 hours is skipping and not taking the story in at all and the story-line deserves better than that.

Now this book has to be recommended on the story-line alone because the romance between Felix and Seven doesn’t feel genuine or real.  So, I recommend this for the violence, fights, explosions, the secrets, the great story-line, the supporting characters and the promise of more to come.

P.S. And just a quick question for the author, if the Scared King got to ‘you know who’ wouldn’t the Scared King have also got to ‘you know who’ as well because they were always together?
