Review: After losing his family to devastating virus that breaks out into a pandemic that is widespread. The humans are infected by bite or being scratched. They are ghoulish in appearance and laugh constantly even while being killed.

He meets up with his grandfather and together they head toward a friend that his grandfather knows along with two twins that he’s known since childhood but something happened between him and Louis that separated the two families long ago. Louis was a bit crazy and aggressive to me. I never understood why if he liked Brian why he treated him the way he did.

The group heads out after many heartbreaking losses toward an island Louis knows about. There are many dangers along the way and many deaths along with how humans react to an end of the world situation. The whole story reminded me of the t.v. show the walking dead.

Entertaining read.

Review: Ales is a smuggler, the only one of his home world left after invading forces destroyed the entire planet. He is sent to a planet on the brink of war with a cargo to deliver. Though I understood what was going on up to this point his interactions with Turo confused me. His sudden about face to agree to do whatever Turo wanted was baffling. Yes I understood him wanting to save Jansan but at what cost?

Turo confused me as I was honestly not sure exactly what he was fighting for. Maybe it’s just me though. There is a lot of sex but the scene with Turo and Ales being tied up left me disturbed.

Freedom always comes at a price as someones idea of freedom may not be someone elses. I liked the conflict and the battles. The descriptions were amazing.

Good read.

Review: A romance mostly story about Grif and Kiernan doing what they must to survive the harsh weather they find themselves in. I thought Grif’s reason for being out in said weather to be a little irritating. He puts himself and Kiernan in danger because he gives up.

Kiernan rescues him and nurses him back to health. Meanwhile the two are drawn together and start a relationship. Two men are trapped in the middle of a storm fighting to stay alive against all odds. I liked the struggle and the passion between these two as the story progressed.

It was an o.k. read.

Grif didn’t want to be saved, and he sure as hell doesn’t want to be stuck with an annoying, naïve do-gooder. But since when do the mountains give men what they want?  The snow is too deep to travel. Food is scarce. Grif and Kiernan learn to depend on each other, and eventually to care about each other. Neither of them wanted it to happen. But sometimes the mountains don’t give men what they want; sometimes, the mountains give men what they need.

Centenary Rhodes is an old soul with a well-traveled name, but she doesn’t know this yet.

Growing up in southern Appalachia wasn’t easy, so Cent left home as soon as she could, but the post-collegiate happiness she’d expected has never occurred. She can’t find a decent date, much less find that special someone and, after losing her job in a corporate downsize, she’s struggling to meet her most basic needs. Her car has been repossessed, her bills are piling up, and her questionable North Chicago neighborhood is dangerous to navigate.

Returning home to Hare Creek, Tennessee, never crosses Cent’s mind until her Great Aunt Tess contacts her with an offer she can’t refuse. The family’s southern Appalachian homestead must be sold, and Aunt Tess needs someone to clean it up. Cent will have access to Aunt Tess’ garden and truck and can live on the homestead rent-free for as long as it takes. A part-time job is waiting for her as well.

It’s a chance to solve some of Cent’s financial woes, but will her return be enough when evil sets its sights on Embreeville Mountain and the homestead?
