Blurb: Angel DeLucca is one of the most sought after gay bachelors in Virginia Beach. He’s smart successful, lethal, and more than anything he’s drop dead gorgeous. Angel has his pick of the men that come to his popular Oceanfront nightclub, but lately the one night stands haven’t been enough…Angel craves something deeper. When a one-night hook-up goes terribly wrong, Angel comes into contact with the breathtaking Maximus (Max) Strong.

Max is a firefighter for the Virginia Beach Fire Department. Max is beautiful, charming, and also very straight. One meeting with the mysteriously, sexy Angel DeLucca and a whiff of that silky, jet black hair, Max finds himself questioning everything he’s known to be true about himself. Max tries desperately to understand the new feelings he has for another man and turns to his gay, older brother…Ryker.

Ryker has always been Max’s protector and his guide their entire lives, which has left him feeling uncared for and alone to handle his own life’s problems. Ryker craves to be taken care of. He craves the attention and praise of a Master. No one knows the dark desires within him until Angel’s Chief of Security, Sebastian ‘Bass’ Bagatelli, shatters that secret with their first intense encounter.

How will Angel win the heart of the straight firefighter that was tailor-made just for him? Will Max be able to continue denying his feelings for another man? Can Ryker and Bass get through their personal issues to take and receive what they both need from each other? Or will they each give up on a happiness that appears too good to be true?

These men’s stories will unravel in a whirlwind of romance, BDSM, revelations, lots of action and very hot sex, co-starring very entertaining supporting characters.

Tootsie’s Review♥♥♥♥♥ 5 Hearts

The one consistent thing that keeps coming to mind is OH MY GOSH! This book has everything I could possibly want in a story. It is sectioned into three parts allowing you to meet each set of characters and focus on the situation at present. This set-up was new to me. However, it made the storyline flow smoothly from one to the next.

The first part was about Max, the gorgeous firefighter, and Angel, the club owner. They meet when the club has trouble and the fire department is called in. One look at each other from across the room causes sparks to fly. These two men are beautiful with their muscled bodies, six-packs, and tanned skin. They each have tattoos that represent something special in their life. Angel has hair down to his waist that he usually keeps braided, but it is thick and shiny and does something to Max when left down. Both, Angel and Max, want to find true love. They both are looking for happy ever after with a forever partner.

They find out quickly they both want the same things and it’s easy to see they are a perfect match. Their relationship takes off fast and I would consider it insta-love. So, if that is not your thing you have been warned, but I like this scenario in a story. They are very sincere and so passionate with each other.

Right from the beginning, Angel referred to Max as “his man,” and I fell in love with Angel myself. I really enjoy when an author shows the characters have passion and feelings and they are not afraid to express it. The reader is taken on a powerful journey where you really feel, at times, like an intruder. Their sex scenes and lovemaking are extremely hot and intense. The author is very good at putting you right there, in the scene, giving you a front row seat. You can see and feel what the characters are experiencing.

At times, I felt almost panicky, probably from holding my breath, as their sex scenes played out. They are so honest and open with their feelings for each other and even though it moved quickly, it didn’t take away from the story. I particularly enjoy a plot that allows the MC’s to own their feelings.

I’ve been known to get bored with a story that drags you along until close to the end for a resolution. I don’t like when the characters spend half the book in denial or running scared from each other. That is not the case here. They were beautiful together and I really enjoyed it.

The next section is about Max’s brother, Ryker, and his partner that he has a connection too. Sebastian/Bass works for Angel as his head security. So when Ryker comes to visit Max, he is also introduced to Bass. There is some BDSM in this section but it is very minor. It’s not really the focus of the story even though it is the focus of how their relationship will be. Bass is a Master Dom and Ryker has craved that type of connection and lifestyle for as long as he can remember. Bass has wanted a sub, someone who he could claim as his own, love forever, take care of and honour their relationship. They are perfect for each other, as they both want the same things.

The third part brings them all together living their lives and doing everyday things. This part has some angst and drama but it’s handled and resolved fairly quickly. Angel’s father is called in to help sort out the trouble, and he brings along his seal team for support and help.

A.E. Via has written a beautiful story, hitting on many details that I like to read. For me, it had every possible element I could want. It has humour and laughter. Tears of pain and tears of joy. We have beautiful people inside and out. There are fireman and navy seals. I mean, good grief, what else is better than that combination?

This is the first book the author has published, but since has added many more to her catalogue. IMO, being the first one, I think she done a wonderful job. There are a couple pretty amazing things that happen in the end that will have you smiling from ear to ear.

I recommend this to anyone who loves passion, great sex, laughter and every day, real life characters that will leave you breathless and wanting more.

Cat’s Review: ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts

Angel DeLucca is a hot, sexy successful bar owner.  He is tired of one offs and hook-ups. He wants to meet his one and only. A disgruntled hook-up pulls the fire alarm as he is being escorted out on a busy holiday night.   The moment the hot firefighter walks in Angel knows he is the one. The trouble is Max is straight.

Max is ready to settle down and find his soul mate. He is tired of failed relationships and can’t figure out why he isn’t happy with any women he has been with. Then by chance he meets Angel and his entire world is changed with a false alarm.

This is a really good story with some awesome characters. A.E Via can really do hot, sexy, intriguing men well.  In this book, we sort of have a collage of stories. The first part of the book we meet Angel and Max. This section is basically their meeting and getting together and I warn you it’s hot, sexy and sensual.

Then we get a bonus in part two with Max’s bother Ryder and Angel’s head of security and best friend Sebastian. Bass is a master Dom but he too is tired of looking for the perfect sub. After having his heart broken and the sub he that was his cheat he has remained celibate and out of the clubs until he finds his perfect sub.

In walks Ryder with Max, and Bass knows Ryder is his. But, does Ryder, tough take charge protector of max, know he is a sub?

As if all this isn’t enough in part three we get all of these relationships wrapped up in an explosive plot twist.

I will say for me the book started of slow and I was a bit unsure of all these love at first sight romances going on.  But I loved the characters and the interaction and struggle of them trying to work through their issues.  I would have liked a bit more of the bdsm scenes with Ryker and Bass. I thought they were smokin hot together. I loved the plot action and Angels Dad and crew. I would have loved to have seen this earlier in the book with a little more action. There were so many great men introduced near the end I am excited to see whose story is next! I can’t wait.

If you like sexy bar owners, firefighters, Dom/Sub relationships, secret agents and a twist. Oh don’t forget some sizzling hot man-sex! Someone bring out the hot firefighter!

Review: CAGED by Bey Deckard will leave you breathless and wondering what just happened. The first word that came to me when I finished this was simply WOW! I have no reservations in stating that this was one of the best books I have read this year. Being a reviewer, and overall lover of reading, I have read many this year already. Many that I have had a strong connection too. Caged is in a category of its own.

Bey Deckard is a new author, not only to me, but this is his first published novel. What a gift and talent this author possesses to write a novel of this calibre. The research he must have taken speaks highly of his devotion in capturing this story to the fullest. The details and descriptions in his novel are mind-boggling. The language transcribed is perfect for this setting and is staggering how quickly you will succumb to understand its meaning. A few authors come to mind when I think about being placed in the setting that I am reading. Bey has taken that to a new level.

Not only are you in the story witnessing the events, you are no longer present in your real life world. When you read CAGED for yourself be sure to have the time to give it the attention and dedication it demands from you. You will be doing a disservice to yourself if you don’t.

This is historical novel with pirates on the open sea. In addition, there is a sense of dark erotica always in the background waiting to make its move. I’ve read many posts where people say, “I don’t like historical, nor will I read it, ever.” To me, that is really sad that readers are not willing to open their imagination and give historical a try. How unfortunate they will never know the vast joy you will evoke from such a tale.

Yeah, some things are hard to understand. Some words are hard to translate, therefore, pulling you from the story. But if you give it a chance, I believe, you will soon be reading the words as if it is your own language. If you allow yourself to delve inside the story, the words will give you their meanings. Bey Deckard has created three, very intense, powerful, engaging, extremely sexy, intelligent, (hmm, looks as though I could go on and on) men who need each other more than they ever realize.

Jon, a young man is his early twenties, has spent his life under the dictation of his evil stepfather. After losing his mother, the only person to ever show him love, at the early age of four, Jon was never touched, hugged, nor loved by anyone, again. He has a special gift, probably the only thing that keeps his stepfather from ridding himself of Jon. He has the gift of empathy. He has always been curious to the actions and demeanour of others. He can watch someone, listen to them, mimic their behaviour, and tell if that person is lying or telling the truth. A gift his stepfather uses relentlessly against him by making him interview prisoners.

Jon’s stepfather is a lawman and he uses his power and position against Jon, daily. His whole life is about to change, unbeknownst to Jon, when he is kidnapped by a pirates and cast out into the open seas. Will he sink or swim? One look at the captain and Jon is overcome with feelings he doesn’t understand.

And the first mate, Tom, who has muscles galore and laughs at everything. But, why does he have whip marks covering his entire back? Jon doesn’t understand any of this, but soon he will. Pained by his traitorous thoughts and feelings yet to be explored, Jon will no longer be a boy of doubt but a man of fortitude and wisdom.

Captain Baltsaros and Tom are hard-headed, hard skinned, seasoned pirates who would kill you instantly and never bat an eye. These two have a lot of history together. A history they keep close to the vest and share very little of. Jon finds himself completely and whole-heartedly fascinated by both men.

He wonders what it would be like to participate in some of the late night encounters he hears from across the room. Sometimes he hears noises that sound as though they are in pain. Other times he is sure the sounds he hears are brought about by pleasure. It is very titillating for Jon as he lies quietly in the dark listening. To be a part of something, to be wanted, caressed and cherished are things he knows little about. Soon, very soon, he will know first-hand how it feels to be in the clutches of the Captain.

A position he realizes, very quickly, he wants. Being an empath, he knows he can’t trust either one. That doesn’t deter him when he finds himself under the hands and strokes of the Captain and his first mate. Jon is enthralled by both men, captivated by their strength and honed bodies. How far will he go in order to please the Captain?

Tom was a prisoner and subjected to pain and torment for many years. Rescued by the Captain and now his first mate, Tom still has nightmares and an evil streak that has no conscience. There will be times, as you read, that Tom’s pain is so poignant and gut wrenching that you may stumble through this journey.

He is at his most beautiful when he exposes his inner self to the Captain and his pleasures. You will be a witness to his turmoil, his volatile behaviour, but you quickly find yourself drawn to this man who carries so much pain and he wears the proof on his back. You will be a cheerleader for Tom hoping against hope that he can find his happy ever after. His laugh is contagious and even though is heart is damaged he carries his wants and desires like an open book.

Captain Baltsaros is an evil man to anyone who cares to look. But beyond his tough exterior, is a man who loves passionately. By way of light touches and forceful kisses, he enraptures his captive and forms a bond that scares him to his core. Their journey across the wild and open seas will have you captivated and entrenched in their world so deeply. The ending is upon you before you are ready. There is always an undercurrent that will have your own emotions brought to the forefront of this story.

Never knowing from one minute to the next what is in store for the ship and crew will have you on the edge of your seat. The secrets that have been long hidden will come out and play. As each secret is exposed your own sensibilities will keep throwing you back into confusion realizing things are never as they appear.

Bey Deckard has written a long and eventful novel that will bring you to your knees as you uncover secret after secret. You will feel exposed and vulnerable as you sit back and witness the pain and turmoil these amazing characters incur. The author has used many vivid descriptions that will drawl you in and hold you hostage, as well, as you travel across the sea. You will experience their turmoil as your own feelings ricochet from one character to the next.

This story is alive and the emotions so palpable that you will have just cause to take a break or two as you live through them. The sex between the three men is oftentimes dangerous and rough. The pleasure experienced, however, will leave you with a magnitude of feelings you have to rationalize for yourself. The character growth that the MC’s go through will leave you astonished. The crew members aboard the ship are like a beating heart that keeps it going strong. Being under duress will only strengthen the crew and you will see them at their finest.

I consider Bey Deckard a masterful storyteller who has given us words on a page that will forever be embedded in my heart. Coming soon is the sequel to Caged, titled Sacrificed, which has left me with jitters and nervous energy contemplating its content. This is not JUST a historical, not JUST a story of pirates and a crew. This is a masterpiece brought about by men with so much wisdom and experience and so much passion that the open seas is the only place large enough to let it breathe and unfold.

Regardless, the open sea has nothing on the turbulent feelings you will encounter. Amazing, amazing story that deserves an audience to celebrate, in my opinion, an award-winning debut. Kudos to Bey Deckard and his incredible gift of the written word, and for so graciously sharing it with us.

Review: I have been a fan of Tara Lain for quite a while. When Outing the Quarterback showed up I was extremely excited. Getting a new story from Ms. Lain is always a nice surprise. Also, football was involved and that only added to the appeal for me. I am familiar with the writing style of this author. She has a big precedence for happy endings, and her overall knack for nailing a story is spot on. This one did not disappoint and IMO, she scored a touchdown bringing me much enjoyment from start to finish.

As the blurb accurately describes the story, we are introduced quickly to Will, who is a star football player. He lives his days trying to please his father. Always has the girl on his arm and is studying business like his Dad wants. But, what he wants is to be a painter. He is really good at it, which pulls him that much more into finding any way possible to make it his reality.

He is gay, has known he is gay for several years. Even though he dates and keeps a steady girlfriend, the girls cannot give him what he needs so desperately. He has been paying a prostitute to meet him in a bathroom, near the park, so he can get some much needed release. He knows this will more than likely blow up in his face but he needs this. Also, on the down low he is taking painting classes on the side. He is hoping he may win a scholarship, which would cover his tuition, therefore, allowing him to break away from his father.

On the complete opposite side of the track is Noah. He has also applied for the same scholarship as Will. He has no family to fall back on. He was in the foster care program for years leaving no one to help him except himself. He works more than one job to be able to pay his rent and his tuition. He has been spending some time with the professor of the class but has reservations about it. The professor makes it quite clear he wants to pursue Noah and take him to bed.

Noah, on the other hand, is afraid what may happen in regards to the scholarship if someone found out. Or, more importantly, if things didn’t work between them. Continually refusing his advances is only getting harder for Noah, and it’s not making the professor very happy either.

When Will and Noah come face to face in class, there is an immediate connection. He thinks Noah is the most beautiful person he has ever seen, and he may have said that loud enough for everyone to hear, including Noah. Will tries hard to get to know his infatuation, but Noah is not so free with his time or his patience. He recognizes immediately that Will is from the upper side of town and that he is a jock. His nickname for Will is Jockoid, which is pretty funny. He is, however, interested in having a little fun with Will, in the bedroom.

No way could anything ever work between them as they have too many differences. Plagued by another problem he still has no solution for and that is the Professor. Noah has worked long and hard to pay for school and get his education. He will not let anyone come between his goals. He has learned Will has also applied for the scholarship and that worries him. He’s worried because Will is actually someone who could take away his chances at winning because he is that good.

As Noah juggles his school, work, and suitors, he may realize too late that the professor is not happy about Will. What that means for either one of them, he doesn’t know. It’s not looking good, and that just won’t work.

This story is so funny and had me laughing aloud in a few places. The storyline is one that always pulls my attention and the author definitely had it with this one. The two MC’s exhibit some wonderful qualities and they both seem to mature as the storyline unfolds. The author gave each one a voice and together or apart, I connected with both of them. The issues they faced are issues that so many people face today. So, not only could this be real, but also she puts a lot of emphasis on the dialogue setting you in the scene. You find yourself cheering both boys on.

The story moved along at a fast pace keeping me glued to the pages from start to finish. Smiling from ear to ear on many occasions helped to keep me grounded never losing interest within the story. When Will and Noah take off to the bedroom, they have incredible chemistry. Their sexual encounters are not only passionate, hot, and sexy, but there is humour, which, for me, is a big plus.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone because it’s fun, it’s fast paced, the sex is very hot, and the storyline flows effortlessly. This is not my first book from Ms. Lane and this story only cements her works even further into my psyche that says to me, Get this, must read.

Review: If you are familiar with Anna Martin then you know what an outstanding author she is. I’ve read several of her previous titles and have loved them all. Summer Son is a little different from what I have read in the past, from her, which is a good thing. I like to read different stories by the same author when they have more than one style to choose from. This, in my opinion, certainly fit within that guideline. The story takes off rather fast and it’s not long into it before a love connection is in the works.

Ellis is raising his son, Harrison, by himself and quite honestly is a little overwhelmed. Raising a child single-handed was not something he had anticipated. He and his husband, of three years, decided together to start a family. They even went as far as not knowing which one was the biological father because what would that information provide? They would both love their child unconditionally.

Well, that was how it was supposed to work. Ellis, now a divorced single dad, works from home in order to provide the best care to his son that he can. This, of course, leaves no time for socializing or having a fun night of his own. Leave it to his friends to take matters into their own hands. A night has been arranged, babysitter lined up, and Ellis finds himself mingling and having a good time. When a new fella joins the party, Ellis is very intrigued.

Zane is a fun-loving very charismatic young man. He loves hanging out with his friends, he loves his job, and he would love to get to know the guy across from him called Ellis. He’s not there long before introductions are made and right away he is interested. They both are interested in each other and spend their time, equally, together. The more Ellis learns about Zane the more he is captivated by his strong appeal. In Ellis’s mind Zane has his act together plus he works with kids and that pretty much seals the deal for Ellis. The guys move along pretty quickly in forming their connection.

I would probably consider this insta-love if that is important to others. For me, I like characters that know what they want and aren’t afraid to go for it. I get bored quickly in a story when trouble brews through the biggest part of the story before the first kiss has ever happened. Luckily, that is not the case here. They are attracted to each other so why not act on it.

The guys have great chemistry and they move their relationship to the next level. They both realize they are moving fast but it feels right. Zane moves in with Ellis and things are running smoothly. That IS until the ex wants back into Ellis’s life. Unfortunately, Zane has a bit of trouble following him from his old life and it appears it may be following him now, in his new life. Ellis’s ex-husband is very vindictive when things don’t work his way so he causes trouble for the new lovebirds. Will they find their happy after anyway? Or does the ex stir the pot too much and create trouble they can’t escape from? It is worth your time to read Summer Son and find out. This is a fast paced novel that will keep you glued to the pages.

Anna Martin has successfully produced another winner for me. It’s not as hard-core as others I have read and dearly loved from her but it wasn’t warranted here in this story. This is a feel good story with chemistry that ignites from the pages and the dialog is quick and intriguing. This author certainly knows how to pull the reader in and keep you invested from start to finish. Anna Martin is one that I will always read without putting too much thought behind what the story is. I know if her name is attached then it is going to be a great read.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves mm and romance and what we all want, a happy ever after.

Review: Douglas Black was a brand new author for me. Picking up The Bucket List was a good move on my part. Not being familiar with the author, or his writing style, I was only too eager to get started. It wasn’t long into the story that I knew I had a winner. I thoroughly enjoyed the story from start to finish. It was refreshing with lots of humour and a plot that pulled you in for the duration.

Kade has just recently become single again after being with the same partner for 8 years. To say he was shocked when it ended, abruptly, would be putting it mildly. He hadn’t realized how much his life was every day routine with no variation. His friends take matters into their own hands and write Kade a bucket list. They are trying to get him exposed to new surroundings. Lighten up his mood and maybe have a good time while doing it. The bad thing for Kade, his friends pick things he wouldn’t do in a million years. Being alone, nothing better to do, he decides to visit an Asian supermarket. It’s on the list, sort of, close enough for him. What could it hurt to go in and check it out?

The supermarket is nothing like Kade assumed it would be. As he strolls through the aisles making his selections, he notices a tall, blond, gorgeous man. Maybe it was not such a bad idea going there after all. He gets bold, for him, and winks at the guy as he goes around to the next aisle. That wink is all Blake needs to pursue his conquest.

And pursue he does. Dinner arrangements are made, a spark and connection is formed and the guys can’t seem to get enough of each other. Kade doesn’t have the guts to admit to Blake how boring his life really is. So when Blake suggests doing some of the things on his list, Kade lies about his previous adventures. Their chemistry will have you smiling from ear to ear. Blake is an easygoing guy who really likes Kade. He wants to do things for him, cook for him, and he finds himself falling fast. Of course, just when things seem to be going smoothly, the ex drops the bomb that he has been having second thoughts.

Completely taken back by Kade’s reaction pushes the ex into showing his true colors. It doesn’t take much for Blake to see what a jerk this guy is. He may need to have a little one on one. Kade is not too keen on that idea, but Blake gets it done, regardless. It’s time that Kade comes clean with Blake. Will Blake drop him at the nearest intersection or stick with him for the long-term?

Douglas Black is an incredible author that I am so happy I came across. This story has an interesting plot that keeps you invested. It’s not an overly long story. However, there is a lot of detail and information inside. The author does an amazing job of getting the story off the ground and keeping you there. I really enjoyed the banter between the guys, the friends, and laughed aloud on more than one occasion. The sex is hot, passionate, and emotion is definitely felt.

The character growth was evident and there was always an undercurrent of feelings playing out on the pages. This is a feel good story with two hot, sexy, and intriguing characters. I will definitely be looking at the other titles in this author’s backlist and would not hesitate to read his next book.

Review: Last Chance Tattoo by Karenna Colcroft is an uplifting, encouraging, story that follows along with real life situations. This is a new author for me but that did not hinder my decision to give this book a try. I’m so glad I did because it is a beautiful story centered on a beautiful soul. This is a story that does not rush to feel the pages with sex scenes. They do have sex and it is quite good when they do, however, it happened when the story called for it.

This, also, is a story about commitment and trust. One character may be committing to a partner no longer living but he feels compelled to keep their trust. Another may be committing to a grandmother who, when everyone else fails him, she stands tall by his side.

Rad left home five years ago when his family turned against him after discovering his sexuality. His grandmother was the only family member to provide unconditional love to Rad, but thank goodness, she did. He’s very disappointed in himself because even with his grandmother’s help, he wasn’t able to make it in the big city on his own. So, he does the only thing he can, he comes home. Even though grandma supports him and loves him dearly, she too, is not too keen in causing an uprising between family members. However, with her help and dedication to Rad, a family meeting is about to come together. They will accept him, love him, respect him, or grandma will be laying down some new rules.

Trying to stay out from under the feet of dear grandmother, Rad spends a lot of time exploring, walking, and taking in the scene that he hasn’t been a part of for the last few years. He stumbles on a new tattoo shop so while hiding from his brother across the road, Rad goes in.

Dorsey lost his true love 3 years ago and has not had a partner since. He came to this new town for a change of scenery and a new life. When a young man comes stumbling into his shop one day he’s not sure what to think. He finds him attractive immediately but wages war within himself that he may be cheating even though his partner is deceased. Rad and Dorsey hit it off quickly and form a friendship. They neither one have any friends so they could really benefit from their new bond.

Rad is a virgin in almost every way. He is shy and clumsy when trying to put on the moves and worries that Dorsey may not feel the same. Both the guys have a solid connection and it’s not long until their chemistry is firing on all cylinders. They share a kiss in the shop but oh, how Rad wants to take it further. Meanwhile, he doesn’t have a clue that Dorsey, also, would like to take it further if he could quit obsessing over a man who is no longer living.

While Rad is working on forming a stronger connection with Dorsey, grandmother is home rallying the troops for a family meet and greet dinner. Rad is very worried because he knows what they are like. His parents and siblings haven’t spoken to him since he left years back, he is not real hopeful that their feelings have changed. He even considers leaving again because he doesn’t want to put his grandma in this position. But leaving again would also mean leaving Dorsey. Does he really want to do that, now, that he just found him? If that is what happens, will Dorsey fight for him to stay? Or, will he let the best thing that has happened to him in over 3 years drive away without a fight?

Karenna Colcroft has written an enjoyable, engaging story about a problem, that too many face right now in their everyday lives. Every day, it seems, there is a news report about a young gay teen being evicted from their own homes. Their family members kicking them out on the streets with only the clothes on their backs. It is heart breaking and an emotional roller coaster to see this happen time and time again.

Ms. Colcroft has not cut any corners in telling Rad’s story. He has faced abuse and resentment from every person he grew up with. No concern for his well-being or the emotional toll and turmoil he was up against. All except for his grandmother, love her heart. The author, quite beautifully, tells Rad and Dorsey’s story and allows it to unfold at its own pace. When the guys want to take their attraction to the next level, they do so, but only when they are ready.

No one including we, the readers, are being rushed into scenes that only move the story forward. The character growth is inspiring to witness as both fellas find more than they ever thought possible, within the arms of each other. While there are some areas hard to read, there are many others that will keep a smile on your face.

This is a true feel good story that I would recommend to anyone to read.

Review: I have always been a huge fan of Cameron Dane, HUGE. I have all of her titles and I could not wait to get started on this newest release. With that said, it pains me to say I had a really hard time getting through this story. In my opinion, it was not her best work to date. There were places I felt the story was too amateurish. The storyline seemed to drag and although the plot had a suspense/mystery to it, it was a bit stifling, almost stagnant at times.

David Joyner has just been released from prison and returns to his hometown to not only make amends, but to live his life and start anew. A lot of people turned against him after many of his secrets were exposed. He came out to his family and the entire town, at the same time, after stalking an ex and then trying to commit suicide. He only wants to atone for his past transgressions, find a steady job, and keep his head down.

He did find a job at the local animal shelter but keeping his head down has not worked for him. He gets into more than one raucous in town drawing unwanted attention to himself. What he doesn’t realize, however, someone is watching him very closely. He tries to figure out, on his own, who the mystery person is leaving him threatening notes. He’s not comfortable reporting these threats because of his record. No one will believe him, so he thinks, and maybe he deserves this anyway after what he put everyone through.

Because of the turmoil David caused in the past, Ben Evans, a private investigator has been hired to follow him and see if he is, in fact, a changed man. Ben has been forced to take some needed vacation time and put his own life into perspective. He hates not being able to work or staying busy so when he gets the phone call to help an old friend he jumps at the chance. What Ben doesn’t expect is to be attracted to David, the person he is to follow.

After meeting David, coincidentally they share the same motel, he recognizes immediately an attraction. Never in his professional career has he had such feelings towards his client. He knows he shouldn’t have those feelings now but he can’t seem to pull himself back. Each day, Ben and David spend a little more time together, learning about their pasts, what they want for their future and they have great chemistry. Ben is torn with decisions he knows he has to make. The first one being he can no longer follow David and report back his findings.

Will David even want to continue seeing Ben when he find out is true purpose? How will this affect his progress with his therapy? Ben knows he has to come clean with David. He really likes him and honesty is important to both of them.

David has made a lot of progress with his insecurities and his obsessive behaviour since he has been released. This time when he messes it up, he recognizes what he’s doing and immediately pulls back. Hopefully, this will pay off for him and give him the strength and courage he needs when the person threatening him ups the ante and takes it one step further. Will Ben be able to save David or will David finally step up, do what is required, and save himself?

Even though there were places within the storyline I had trouble, this is still a good story. It won’t keep me from buying the next one this author releases because Cameron Dane is an amazing author. She writes very hot sex scenes between her characters and she doesn’t hesitate to include them frequently. In this story, you could certainly see the characters growing and reaching a different level of maturity.

For me, the prose wasn’t as tight as what I am use to reading from this author. I know what Ms. Dane is capable of, and for that alone I will always read anything and everything she releases. This story is part of the Foster Siblings series but it can definitely be read as a standalone. Characters from previous books make a small appearance but if you haven’t read the others, it will not hinder you here.

I would recommend this novel to anyone because what bothers me may not bother you. And it is, after all, Cameron Dane. Just her name alone will always pull me in, without pause, allowing me any and every opportunity to add her books to my shelf.

Review: Threshold is an anthology by Lynn Kelling, which corresponds with her Deliver Us Series and Whatever the Cost. She has broken this down into seven short story/novellas giving us a little more insight into the wonderful characters that we love so much.

Since I have already read the Deliver Us series and Whatever The Cost I had previous knowledge of the characters that we read about here. I think if you already know them, as I do, then this was a bonus being able to go back and see where the guys came from and what their life was beforehand. If you haven’t read the series then you are getting first-hand knowledge to their lives and the struggles they have endured giving you more insight as you go into the series. It works fine either way. No matter how you choose the order of your reading, it still is a sweet addition to the storylines. First up is:

EXPECTED LIES – Darrek and Kyle are best friends in high school and it is time for prom. Darrek is excited about going and is trying hard to convince Kyle to go with him. Of course, what Darrek doesn’t know is Kyle already knows he likes boys instead of girls. He can’t find a way to break the news to his best friend so he makes up a few lies to go around the issue. He has someone lined up to spend the evening with. He can’t help it if Darrek assumes it’s a girl.

Back at the prom, however, Darrek realizes he should have stayed with his best friend. These kids will come and go but he will always have his friend. Find out what happens when Darrek shows up early to spend the rest of his evening with Kyle? Misconception about more than one topic comes to the forefront. Will the boys be brave enough to tell their inner most secrets with each other?

DIVINE SURRENDER – Years ahead now, Kyle is looking for a Dom. Someone who is trustworthy, experienced and knows how to give him the things he needs. Things he is unable to give to himself. He sets up a meeting with Ben to see for himself if they have a connection. Ben is intrigued immediately with Kyle and after discussing the do’s and don’ts, what they each expect from the other, they sign a contract. Kyle lives by himself, he doesn’t have any close friends other that Darrek, but he hasn’t even kept in touch with him as much as he should have. He still has nightmares from a childhood experience, something he shares with Darrek, even though Darrek seems to have forgotten or blocked out most of it. Maybe it’s time to get his act together, finally take the plunge for what he needs sexually. He misses Darrek so much, but there are things working on Kyle’s mind that he is unable to share with anyone. Hopefully, now with Ben, those things will change.

Ben is beyond thrilled with having Kyle as his new sub. Gabriel tries to get information from Ben about him but he keeps it close to his chest what he really thinks about him. Kyle is due in for a session and Ben has a plan, with the help of Gabriel, to test his boundaries. Kyle has fallen backwards too many times turning to pills, dangerous sex, or just getting lost in his own head, that he really wants help. He feels certain that Ben is just the man to help him. Will Ben be able to give Kyle what he needs? And if he does, will Ben be able to stay professional about it, or has he fallen too quickly for the beautiful blonde man he now calls his sub?

NEVER HAPPENED – Gabriel has many demons of his own. He was saved close to 10 years ago by Gabriel and Trace. They gave him a home and something to cling to when he wasn’t sure where his next meal would come from. Through the years, Gabriel has worked his way inside Diadem, the BDSM club owned by Trace and up the ladder to where he is now a professional Dom, as well. Ben has always had a part of Gabriel and vice versa. That connection they share will never change. Gabriel can’t help feeling lonely, more so now than ever, since Ben has his own sub, Kyle.

Gabriel knows how to get on Ben’s bad side, something he seems to be doing a lot of lately. He’s not fooling Ben. He knows exactly what he is doing. Ben decides to play his game, but in doing so, he gives Gabriel what he needs. He needs to be dominated by Ben, worked over, and find release. Whether that is sexually or mentally, Ben will make that distinction himself. He has always known what Gabe needs, he knows how to push, how to read his signals. Regardless if Ben has his own sub now, he will not push Gabriel away or leave him to stumble on his own. Unbeknownst to them, Kyle witnesses their session. Struggling with his own feelings and reservations, he tries to do as Ben asks. Will they both be able to get what they need from Ben? Or will there be too many hurt feelings and bad mistakes to get past?

PLEASURE OR PARADISE – Gabriel and Darrek have been together two years now. After experiencing some horrible tragedies, they decide to take a break from the real world and just be together, the two of them. Everyday life has a way of intruding and before you realize you are just going along with the motions. Gabriel and Darrek agree they need time together. They want to re-energize their relationship, go back to how they were when they first came together. Taking a few months off from the real world, Gabriel and Darrek go to a tropical island in the Florida Keys. The resort is for fulltime 24/7 master/slave relationships. Everyone at the island is in the same situation. What makes the island so special, there’s no judgement or incrimination because everyone is in a Dom/Sub relationship.

Gabriel needs to push Darrek, change things up, and help him to remember what it is that makes them so special to each other. Darrek finds that even after 2 years Gabriel can still bring him to his knees, literally, with a look or a simple word. To keep from going stagnant within their relationship Gabriel tries to help Darrek come to terms with some of his hang-ups. Public viewing being one of them, but Gabriel has a plan, one he feels sure will help Darrek step out in front of all the eyes on the island. Of course, what goes around comes around. Darrek will get his time as well when they trade off positions. Will Darrek be able to do what Gabe wants him to do? He is struggling with the scene Gabriel has laid out for him. This will take all of his courage if he goes through with it. It also could strengthen their relationship, something they need desperately. Will Darrek go through with Gabe’s plan, and if he does, how will he get back at Gabriel for putting him in such an embarrassing situation?

ESCAPE – In this story, we have the previous lives of Jacen and Liam who we got to know in Whatever the Cost. Liam convinces Jacen to tell him about his abusive and torturous past. They both go under new names and identity now that they have moved on but to go back into that world, even just in their minds, is a hard thing to do.

Travis, now Jacen, back at home in his mind, tells of the struggles and mind games he had to endure as a teenager. All to the horrible, demeaning actions of his neighbour. Afraid for himself, his brother, and his family, Travis goes along with the abuse thinking he is saving the others. It was hard reading this, as no one wants to experience or be a witness to this type of sickness. However, Travis experienced it, lived it, and was brave enough to do something about it, therefore, making me want to be there for his journey. Liam is there, holding him tightly, as he subjects himself, once again, to that time in his life. He is a very brave, smart, and kind soul who, with the help of his beautiful and wonderful Liam, can now move on with his life and the future they make for themselves, together.

TRICK AND TRUTH – This story follows along with Avery and Timothy and their time in the foster care system. The boys are young and pretty much have to take care of themselves. The foster parents are in it for the money and very seldom see to the care or needs of the boys. Timothy is quite sick and not able to get out of bed often. Avery knows he needs medicine and the only way he can think to get it for him is prostituting himself for money. How hard could it be? His housemate, Jimmy, does it all the time. So with some of Jimmy’s make up and his wardrobe, Avery sets out to do what he feels he has no other choice, and that is to save Timmy, whatever the cost may be to him.

Avery succeeds in getting medicine but Timmy questions him profusely about how he was able to get it. It’s tearing him up thinking Avery may have done something horrible on his behalf. Avery cannot bring himself to tell what he went through, even though it will haunt him, to get the much needed medicine. He knows right now, with Jimmy’s failing health, it is better to lie than to upset him.
Will Avery convince him he didn’t do anything inappropriately to get the medicine? If Timmy doesn’t take the medicine, he will only get worse and that is something Avery cannot deal with. He cannot lose his Timmy, even if he has to lie.

BETWEEN HERE AND THERE – The boys have aged out of the foster care system and are now on their own. Avery and Jimmy struggle to make ends meet but they are in it together, no matter what happens. Avery is having a hard time keeping thoughts at bay as he continually remembers seeing Timmy with other guys. He even allows him to take a picture of him blissed out after incredible sex for his own. Something he can keep and look at. He definitely doesn’t want anyone else to see it, but Timmy thinks differently.

Avery feels it is important for both of them to start using condoms. Timmy has put them in some bad situations so to keep things from getting worse. He hands over a condom for Timmy to use. They both know what the other is thinking but he puts it on anyway. He will do whatever is necessary to protect the person that means more to him than anything.

Lynn Kelling has put together seven stories to further complete her Deliver Us series and Whatever the Cost. She has given us a deeper insight into all the characters’ lives and the struggles they faced getting away and into a better life. I don’t normally read anthologies, mainly because I like longer, stories that are more involved. However, for me, this was a must read.

It is a remarkable gift when an author gives us more history to go along with the stories we already love so much. I have really enjoyed going through each one of these and having some questions answered and basically getting to know each one on a deeper level. Lynn has created many amazing and beautiful characters within her series and to have a chance to only increase what we already know was quite a bonus.

As I mentioned earlier, if you haven’t read the main stories already, having this beforehand will only give you a much better understanding of where they are now. Lynn Kelling is an incredible author who devotes a lot of herself, her time, and research to give us the best she can in her books. You only have to read one to figure that out. So, if you haven’t read any, I would strongly encourage you to go for it. If you have read her books, again I would strongly encourage you to pick up this anthology and savour it, like fine wine, for the gift it is.

Review: Are you familiar with Sage Marlowe? If you haven’t experienced the pleasure of reading his stories, the Romeo and Julian series is an excellent place to start. A Thief on Christmas Eve is the first book, in most likely, a five book series. You will be introduced to the key players, their histories, and their backgrounds. As each piece of the puzzle comes together, you will be searching for more info in order to get the full picture. As the blurb explains this is written in one point of view.

This first book in the series is an introduction of the two MC’s Romeo and Julian. Julian Harris is a FBI agent who for three years has been gathering information on the elusive art thief Romeo. Up until now, no one has gotten close enough to learn anything too incriminating about him. All he really knows is that Romeo is charming, charismatic, and obviously very smart as he keeps evading capture. Julian feels he has enough info and has studied his actions enough that he knows where he will go for his next heist. One problem, however, it’s Christmas Eve. Manpower is limited due to the holiday, plus….No one really believes he will show. Julian decides to go anyway without back up. That’s how confidant he is of his next move.

It’s a blizzard outside, phone lines are down, and electricity is questionable. Julian can only hope that this goes as smoothly as possible. Calling for back up is out of the question and even if he did have someone to call, they wouldn’t make it very far with the severe weather conditions. Julian can’t worry himself with these details because Romeo has just entered the house. Julian is at a loss for words at first because Romeo is younger than he thought, better looking that he had pictured, and he has a killer smile that obviously works well for him.

Romeo is not your average thief. If he was, he would have been captured before now. Julian feels he can let his guard down because it’s a

known fact Romeo doesn’t carry firearms plus there is a blizzard coming down which means no one can get in so therefore no one can get out. Romeo uses these things to his advantage as well and it’s not long before he is seducing Julian. There is an instant attraction between them so what could it possibly hurt to take advantage of their situation. Kissing leads them to the bedroom where you will witness a very hot, intense, all night romp. For one night they have forbidden pleasure, they taste, explore, experience what each have to offer and when morning comes………..HE’S GONE. ROMEO IS GONE!!! How will Julian explain to his superiors that he let Romeo escape? Will he even tell them he showed? Julian made a connection that night and he is sure Romeo felt it too. Will he ever see him again? What happens next will have you holding your breath, while reading faster, to see where the story will lead.

Sage Marlowe will have you going thru twists and turns at warp speed never being completely sure where you may land. There is a real life feel of mystery and suspense that will have you gripping the sides of your electronic device. The author continually moves the plot forward giving details and descriptions that you can easily vision and relate too. As I stated earlier, this is a series so there will be several more books to follow taking us deeper and deeper inside the mystery that has been laid out here. I highly recommend getting your copy so you can experience this amazing journey Romeo and Julian, along with the author, Sage Marlowe, has set before us. The next book in the series is, A Talented Liar. I can’t wait to see what the next adventure brings.

Review: Whether you are a shifter lover or not, you can’t go wrong with Theo Fenraven’s newest release, Wolf Bound. This author does not follow the guidelines we see in most shifter stories. He tells us a story from the human side of the equation. Instead of a paranormal fantasy where mating rituals are a must and the alpha wolf is the leader and everyone else follows, we connect with the main character, himself, someone who could be one of us in our everyday world. We learn the significance of how these changes have affected him and his life. Changes that lead to having no control over your actions. Even though we will never experience what the character/s go thru, you can still relate to his fears. He is one of us.

The story opens up with Jon, a teacher, want-to-be writer, who has recently moved to the countryside. While exploring one day, he stumbles across a trail or pathway that leads to another cabin. Curiosity gets the best of him so he makes his way to the small island with hopes of introducing himself and possibly meeting his neighbor. Introductions are kept short and sweet and he is politely encouraged to leave. However, with the visit of his best friend, Suzi, he can’t seem to leave well enough alone and he goes back. He just wants to show his friend, no harm in that, is there? How will he handle the situation when his curiosity leads him to the unthinkable? The unfathomable? Completely unprepared for what they find, when they enter the cabin, neither Jon nor Suzi, can make sense of what they see. But, they do see something.

Harrison Kalmes, thanks to a life altering misfortune, lives secluded in a cabin, on a small island, and has cut himself off from outside connections. Living a life of seclusion is certainly messing with his mental stability. He finds himself more and more depressed as his search for answers lead him nowhere. Now, he has a nosey neighbor snooping around, one that is having a hard time keeping his distance. As Jon learns Harrison’s secret, and once the shock factor wears off, he begins to feel alive and for the first time in a very long time, he has a small amount of hope. Thanks to Jon who doesn’t abandon him, they go to Romania in search of answers. Maybe, just maybe, they will find something or someone who can help. What they discover will lead, both Jon and Harrison, on a mission of truth and acceptance. They also discover they enjoy each other’s company, and being attracted to each other will lead to pleasure they both forgot existed.

Theo Fenraven is an incredible author who will take you inside the story, the inner organs of the plot. He is an amazing storyteller and has the ability thru details and descriptions to set the scene and plant you, the reader, there. His MC’s are smart, intelligent people, and once they understand their purpose, they don’t back away. He always includes side characters that are just as strong and vibrant, whether male or female, that add importance and depth to the storyline. If you are looking for an erotic, sex-filled, story, you won’t find that here. Ohh, his characters have sex, they have great sex, but it’s off page. He will lead you to it, but then you will have to take it from there. The scene that he lays out, thru his words and vision, will leave you feeling very fulfilled. He tells us a story that is full of fascination. A story that will have you appreciating his talent with each additional word. If you have never read a story by Theo Fenraven, I strongly encourage you to start. It will be an experience that will enrich your life, not only as a reader, but also as a person.

Review: Varian Krylov is a new author to me, but one that I am very happy to have discovered. In this release of Dangerously Happy, she brings us a story that is not necessarily a new storyline but she has put a new twist on it that will pull you in and keep you glued to the pages. It is a dark read at times, the sexual content is very explicit, but it fits the story and will have you completely captivated.

Lets meet Aidan – single due to a recent break-up with his long-term girlfriend, plays the guitar and sings in a band, very handsome but doesn’t seem to know it himself. Not really happy in his day-to-day job but is good at his job. Trying to pacify his father, he chose a business degree instead of music, which was his lifeline. He belongs to a small time band that practises a few nights a week at a friend’s loft and performs gigs on the weekends. He has never considered himself anything other than a straight male. He’s kind of a loner sometimes, doesn’t feel he really fits in with the other guys in the band. The guys, almost always, stay after practise to smoke weed and tell tales about their women experiences from the nights before. Aidan stays on occasion, falling in line with his buddies, but most of them appear immature. After 10 years of just playing as if they have a band, Aidan wants to have one for real.

Now, let’s meet Dario. Charismatic, charming, good-looking, confidant or so he appears to those in his presence. He has a loft with a large space that he lets different people occupy almost nightly, whether it be artists or bands. What he doesn’t let others see is he is a damaged soul. He has some very traumatic experiences from his past that he still has not completely gotten over. He portrays someone who has everything and not afraid to go after what he doesn’t. Everyone knows he is gay, it’s not a secret, and no one seems to be bothered by it. He is a very generous man, always giving to others.

What you will learn about him as you read on is he is also scared. At his core, he feels weak and frightened. For three years, he has watched Aidan from afar. He notices everything about him, is intrigued by him, yet still keeps his distance. He only acknowledges him in general conversation with occasional hello’s and good-bye’s. To Aidan, Dario doesn’t even see him and while he doesn’t understand why this should bother him, he just knows that it does. How will Aidan react when Dario reveals his interest? Aidan has never had an interest in another man, until now. There will be many truths exposed, feelings uncovered, but will they admit these revelations, to not only each other, but also everyone else?

Varian Krylov has written a deep and sometimes dark story that will have you cringing at times but needing more. Everything, however, is not all doom and gloom. She will expose sides to her characters that bring out the best in them. She exposes their inner weaknesses but shows their strengths, as well. This is a long novel that has many twists and turns. You will be hooked from the beginning and even though the road sometimes is bumpy, you grab on for the ride. Ms. Krylov does not shy away from exposing scenes that sometimes are hard to read. She will also expose the caring, the sensual, and sexual sides to her characters. She doesn’t rush them into sex. She gives them time to come to terms with new developments they are experiencing. When they feel they are ready to be intimate with each other, you are ready also for them to take it to the next level.

As Aidan and Dario explore their sexual relations, not only are they breathless, but you will be too. As I stated earlier, this author does not skimp with the sexual content. Most always, it is very explicit, so if this is not your thing, you have been warned. However, if you love not having to guess or create your own scenes as you read, you will be in awe of this story. I think the author done an incredible job of showing many sides to a relationship, one where communication is as important as the physical acts. The story continues to move forward, never stilted or stagnant. As Aidan and Dario explore and experience many levels, they form a trust and a bond that will be hard to break. The content is expressive, but it is addictive and will leave you only wanting more. I will be exploring many more books by Ms. Krylov in the future.

Review: What a refreshing and enjoyable read. I was glued to the pages from Chapter 1 and barely looked up until the end. Nicola Haken is a new author for me, but knowing what I know now, that will no longer be the case. I will be searching for everything she has. Be sure and read her “About the Author” pages at the end of the story. She is incredibly funny, witty, and someone you would definitely want as a friend. Being Sawyer Knight is a fun, light-hearted (most of the time) sexy novel that anyone loving the m/m genre should fully embrace. Let me introduce you to the guys:

First up, we have the amazing Sawyer Knight. Yep, the main character, and what a character he is. Among his many good qualities, he is also an incredible musician and singer-songwriter that has him and his band touring all over the world. Usually a girl, or two, left behind at every stop along the way. Sawyer left home the minute he was able, leaving behind a mother who was more concerned what the church would think and an abusive stepfather, who was only after what fame and fortune Sawyer’s musical capabilities would bring. Turned his back on his best friend, the only person who ever knew him inside and out, after a huge disagreement. For 10 years, they’ve had no contact, but the memories are always present. He carries a hole in his heart from walking away and not talking it out.
T

his is a good place to bring in Jake. Jake Reed, bodyguard and one-time best friend to Sawyer Knight. Jake is gay and was, and still is, in love with Sawyer. In high school, not knowing what else to do, for fear of losing him and never telling him of his feelings, he kisses Sawyer. Bad move on Jake’s part as it caused hard feelings, misunderstandings, and abandonment of his best friend. Now 10 years later, Jake will be working with Sawyer as his full-time bodyguard. Other than his safety, his main goal is to win Sawyer back, not only as his friend, but also as his lover. Jake knew when they were in high school that Sawyer was not 100% straight. Now he just has to prove it to Sawyer and get him to believe in their connection.

It turns out it’s not as hard as he thought it would be to convince Sawyer. One kiss and a lot of determination soon have Sawyer seeing Jake as more than just a friend. Their chemistry is explosive, their connection, magnetic. Sawyer may be a virgin when it comes to loving another man, but he catches on quickly. He wants Jake just as desperately and shows him frequently. Will he be able to tell his band mates about their relationship? What about his mother, who lives and breathes for the church? Jake is only sure about one thing…..He loves Sawyer and he will never walk away or allow Sawyer to walk away again.

Nicola Haken has written a beautiful love story with strong characters despite their differences. There are several key players within the context of story that are just as strong and very prevalent to the growth and development of the plot. Elle, which is Sawyer’s best friend and ally, brings definition to the story with her easygoing attitude, willingness to be a good listener and/or sounding board for Sawyer. The author shows us that communication is usually the best policy, and she utilizes this belief early on. I like the way Ms. Haken allows each character to find their own truth, what works for them, and at the pace they need. She throws in elements of surprise that will have you holding your breath one minute, and spiking your heart rate the next.

Sawyer has many concerns, mainly people finding out about Jake, but the author doesn’t dwell on that. She continually keeps pushing forward giving you, the reader, a sexy, fast-paced, fun-filled story. If you haven’t downloaded your copy yet, don’t wait any longer. This story will hold a place within that will have you wanting to read again and again. Bonus at the end, thank you Nicola for that, we get a hint as to who the next story will be about. I will be ready to one-click for the next story with glee and anticipation.

Review: Teegan Loy has written a very enjoyable, sometimes emotional story, about two young men, both in sports, both gay, and both trying to find their balance. Both Justin and CJ are damaged souls, both conflicted with demons from their past but who have a very good support system thru family and friends if they will allow themselves to reach out, accept the resources, and help around them.

Justin has recently returned home from California where he was away training for the US Nationals. After his mother passed away, he misunderstood some things and felt everyone was against him. His dad was heartbroken from losing his wife, and probably a little standoffish, his siblings were getting more and more distant, the boy he loved would not come out to be with him, so he fled. He decides to come home with the hope and intentions of putting all of these bad demons that haunt him, in his past. It’s not an easy thing to do when he doesn’t want to communicate with anyone, nor tell them how he feels. He has a chip on his shoulder most of the time, and he avoids situations that he feels will put him to much in the spotlight. He continues to have nightmares from things he wants to forget. Will he ever be able to come forward and face the demons he carries around in his head and heart? Will he finally open up, allow someone else in his heart, and share his burdens and torment with him? Justin hates all hockey players, or so he thinks. Will he give CJ a chance to show him he’s his own person? He doesn’t act like the rest of the guys on the team and he wants the chance to prove that to Justin.

CJ is a new transfer that has joined the hockey team. The same team Justin’s dad is the coach for. He is also gay, but he hides it from the team. He, also, is hiding a lot of fear and hurt from a situation that happened in his hometown. He has a hard time letting anyone in his heart or opening up about his past troubles. When you have been abused and ridiculed by people you thought you could trust, that makes him very weary to put himself in that situation again. He and Justin start to get close, they have sex and it’s good but they have a lot to learn. CJ is not as experienced as Justin, but they are working on it and they have good chemistry. He is not willing, or…. more like he is afraid to confide in Justin, so he keeps his past locked up. Justin knows something bad happened, it must have, he just doesn’t know what. Will he be able to convince CJ to share his feelings with him? What happens when Danny, the boy who Justin was in love with, realizes he made a mistake?

Teegan Loy held my interest throughout this entire story. I think that she done an amazing job with the plot as it continued to move forward. I don’t know if the facts were correct in relation to the skating world, whether it was figure skating or ice hockey. What I do know, is she made me believe they were. I was fascinated with the ins and outs that she described within the setting. I would have liked for the boys to come to a resolution a little sooner, in regards to their relationship, but that is just me wanting the romance kicked up a few notches. She still held my attention waiting and wondering what would happen next. The author has included some wonderful side characters that were a large part of this story. Eli, Justin’s best friend was awesome, supportive and extremely funny. I would love to see him have his own story in the future. I would recommend this to anyone who loves sports driven plots and who enjoy laugh out loud banter between characters. There is quite a bit of angst with both Justin and CJ, as they try to figure out how to slay their demons once and for all. It’s a good story, read it for yourself, I think you will agree.

Review: Lost In the Crowd is a very sweet, enjoyable novel. It can be read in one setting, but besides that, you don’t want to put it down. If you have never read anything by E.M. Leya, first of all, you are missing out, and secondly, this is a great read by an amazingly talented author.

I don’t like to rehash the blurb, but it really hits the mark with the context of this story. Jared is a musician, and is on the top of his career. He is financially secure, he has #1 hits on the charts, he has a loving and supporting family, and he is adored by his fans. Sounds pretty nice, doesn’t it? It should be everything he has ever wanted, and for the most part, it is. He’s been doing this gig for 11 years with very little time to himself. He is rundown, fed up, and at the end of his rope. He just wants a few days to himself, try to re-group, rest, and do it all over again. Doesn’t sound like a bad request, right? The only problem though, his manager, Ben, won’t leave him alone. So Jared takes the situation, into his own hands. He escapes his security team, after a concert, and ends up hiding in the kitchen, of the arena, he just performed. What’s he gonna do, now, since he has given them the shaft? Where will he go and not be recognized? He didn’t really think it thru, he just needed to go.

It seems this may be his lucky day. In the kitchen is Scott, the chef, who recognizes Jared, but he doesn’t make a big deal about it. He offers to help by giving him a hiding place, but more than that, he opens his home to him for two weeks. Scott finds Jared very attractive and sexy. Once he finds out that he is also gay, he lets the attraction take over. They have amazing chemistry. They have an undeniable connection, so they put it to good use. Jared may be burnt out in his career, but he is all fireworks in the bedroom, or the couch, possibly the kitchen table, anywhere that has a flat surface, they put it to use. Two weeks, that’s all they have. Neither wanted to form any attachments, they both know their time is limited. Will they be able to call it quits? Do they even want too? Over several weeks of phone calls, they answer these questions. I was pleasantly surprised with the decisions they made.

Even, though, this is a relatively short story, the author does an incredible job stretching the time frame to accommodate their schedules and previously committed responsibilities. I would probably still consider this an insta-love story, but it works for them. If you are looking for a feel-good, no angst story, you should definitely give this a go. This is the perfect book for a day at the beach, or sitting at home curled up in a blanket. E.M. Leya has many wonderful stories, including this one, which everyone should take the time to read. You will be glad you did. This is a very sexy, fun-filled, novel that I truly enjoyed.

Blurb: When a man is consumed by hatred, is there anything left to love?

After a tough day of counseling sessions, Anglican priest Mark Webber is looking forward to a relaxing dinner at a local restaurant. When he sees who’s bellied up to the bar, though, he reaches for his cell phone to call the police.
It’s Lucas Cain, the man who killed Mark’s brother three years ago. Apparently, he’s out of jail and hanging out with his old crowd, which has to be a breach of parole, right?

Pulled over upon leaving the bar, Lucas blows a clean breathalyzer and hopes this isn’t a harbinger of things to come. He’s ready to build a sober, peaceful life. His friends aren’t ready to let him move on, though, and he ends up taking refuge in an Anglican halfway house.

Thrown together, Mark and Lucas find common ground in the struggle to help a young gay man come to terms with his sexuality—and the fight against homophobic townsfolk. As attraction grows, the past is the last stumbling block between them and a future filled with hope.

Review: Mark of Cain, by Kate Sherwood, is an incredible story about overcoming fear, loss, bad mistakes, and pain. I have many titles by this author, in my own library, and I have yet to read one that did not touch me on some level. She has an incredible perception with expressing, thru her characters, emotions that feel visible to you, the reader, instead of just words on a page. She has taken two characters, who are both damaged souls, in one way or another, are from completely different backgrounds, and brought them together and they clicked. They were able to find comfort in each other, whereas before, they were just stumbling along.

Thru some bad mistakes, drinking, and mean tempers, Lucas Cain, after 3 years, is being released from prison. He killed a man, accidentally, but he considers himself a murderer, along with the rest of the towns’ people. He wants to do right for himself and for others, but his old friends are having a hard time understanding the new Lucas. They want to continue being the rough and rowdy boys and feel Lucas should fall back in line. Lucas, however, is not okay with this plan. How will his homeboys feel when he separates from the pack? How will Sean, his once best friend, feel when Lucas no longer wants to deny his sexuality? Lucas ends up staying at a halfway house where he will remain, as long as, he doesn’t violate his parole. He soon discovers he may have one or more persons working against him.

Mark Webber, priest and confidante, loves working with the children/teenagers in the community. He wants to be a safe place they can come to if they are questioning their sexuality. He finds comfort in the church, his routine prayers, and he feels confidant he has the support of the parishioners and the church. He also likes to be a helping hand at the halfway house, and be support, if needed. He has the support of his family, as long as, he doesn’t mention he is gay. Up until now, that wasn’t a hardship. He doesn’t understand why, the one man he should hate, the man who killed his brother, is also the man he is falling for. Everything around him seems to be coming apart at the seams. His relationship with Lucas, his father is sick and dying, and the one place he felt comfort – his church, has put him on probation. How will Mark’s mother react when she discovers who her son is falling in love with?

The church wants him to walk away from Lucas. Will the church support him, if that is not a consideration? With so many things working against them, will they ever be free to love each other, as they want? Mark doesn’t do sex, just to do sex. He wants a committed relationship. However, time is not on their side. Thankfully, Lucas wants the same thing, and having sex with Mark, is one thing that is very right. In the privacy of his home, he and Lucas, no longer hold back from expressing their feelings. They love each other with everything they have. While the sex is not that explicit, you get the feeling it is everything they need. It’s been a long time since either one had any sexual romps. So, together, they discover what the other likes and how to satisfy each other.

This was a fairly long story, so there are many twists and turns. The author does an incredible job with the progression of the storyline. There are many amazing side characters that enrich the story, greatly. Many times, I would catch myself laughing, aloud, at the banter and the humour these wonderful characters possessed. You, definitely, can see the growth and the maturity many of the characters go through. You will also have moments of holding your breath, afraid of what is getting ready to take place. I love how the author has the MC’s working together to overcome their problems, rather than splitting them up, only to make up, at the last few pages. There will be sad moments, but at its core, it is a love story. A love between, Lucas and Mark, which will not be broken, by anyone. I would recommend this to anyone who loves a feel good story, little angst, a lot of laughter, and a HEA. I may have my fingers crossed for another story with a very troubled soul, a man who is definitely broken in spirit and heart. He was once Lucas’ best friend, now he doesn’t want to be friends with anyone. I hope we have not seen the last of these amazing characters. Thank you Kate Sherwood, for another incredible read.
