Blurb:   Sixteen-year-old Jacob Smithson has a temper. He’s picked on because he likes boys, and fighting gets him kicked out of public school. As a last resort, his parents place him in St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Boarding School for Boys.

At his first mass at St. Thomas he sees Avery Dendritch, a senior who serves as altar boy during the service. When they meet, the attraction between them is hard to deny. The two become fast friends, and as the school year progresses, their friendship deepens until Jacob feels he’s found a place where he belongs.

Review:  Without Sin by J. Tomas is very touchy Young Adult romance novel that is very well written and beautifully told. The story revolves around Jacob Smithson and Avery Dendritch. Jacob is a rebellious boy that whenever he is teased or provoked, he fights back with fists in the air. His parents, instead of finding what’s wrong with their son, decide to send him to an all boy Catholic school. (I wish my parents would have done the same.) Avery is the oldest and a senior at their high school. He is the type of guy that is comfortable with his sexuality, but does not go around flaunting it to everyone. It is evident that being himself gets him bullied around by his classmates. As soon as these two meet at an early school mass, parks fly and their journey takes off. Without giving the story away, it starts off as a beautiful friendship and soon blossoms into tender romance and love.

These two go through a lot during their time in St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Boarding School. I completely fell in love with the two lead characters and found myself loving every page of this book. The way their love story was told, kept me jumping from page to page and gave us insight into their minds. Their hardship, love, insecurities, and fears are told in ways that keeps you reading and wanting more.

I would recommend this story to anyone who wants an easy read or wants to read a very well written coming-of-age novel where the hardships that the characters endure are real, captivating and exciting.

Review:  Let’s just start by saying Carter Quinn had me as a fan the minute he wrote about two men who love hockey falling in love. Swoon! So I was already looking for other books by him when I saw the beautiful cover for The Way Back.

Riley met Jason and Eric his Freshman year of college. The three immediately hit it off and became close friends. It didn’t take long for Riley to realize he wanted Eric. Bad. The two start a secret love affair that ends in Eric breaking Riley’s heart. Jason tries to help Riley through the pain, but the hurt is too much and Riley swears he will never fall in love again.

Six years later Riley runs into Jason and the sparks fly. Jason is practically perfect in boyfriend standards but Riley can’t get Eric out of his head. He still secretly pines over the one that got away. Or in this case, stomped on his heart and left him a blubbering mess of the man he was. Everyone around Jason and Riley can see that Jason is in love with Riley and the two make a wonderful couple. Riley is as happy as he’s ever been in a relationship so maybe he is falling for Jason?

Then out of nowhere Riley gets a call from Eric. It, of course, stirs up all kinds of trouble and Jason decides he doesn’t want to be Riley’s second choice if he still loves Eric. Doesn’t want to spend the rest of his life with a man who will always wonder what if his first love didn’t leave. So he practically shoves Riley at Eric. Riley fights it at first. He’s hurt that Jason wants him to see if there is still something there between Eric and himself. Of course, it’s not that simple. Did anyone think it would be? I won’t spoil the rest, but a love triangle begins and the angst is amped up!

Carter manages to make me fall for the guys despite wanting to smack them all at some point. Mainly Riley. I think Carter giving him very funny inner monologues was clever in keeping me on the pro Riley side throughout the book. The intimacy between Jason and Riley was beautiful. I like to visualize the connection between the main characters with the little details. Not just be told by the author. I could feel the passion between Riley and Jason. I could feel the longing between Eric and Riley. I hate love triangles, but couldn’t put this book down.

So, now I’m left waiting as patiently as possible for more from Carter Quinn. Maybe a story from the guy who didn’t get the guy? (hint, hint 😉 )

Review: This book is part of a series and I would advise reading the series in order… oh and also reading the Blood series by Shayne Carmichael and also the Inferi Brotherhood series by Mychael Black as characters from both those series make appearances in this book. It’s been four years since we last saw Mael and Cian. A long, long wait but finally they are here. This book continues from not long after And The Two Shall Become One ends and Nigel (Meal’s father) is still causing trouble for Meal and Cian, but now a bigger threat is emerging that could affect the whole of the Romanorum.

This is a great final addition to The Prince’s Angel series (or Legends of the Romanorum if you prefer) that gives us excitement, danger, confusion, longing, jealousy and intrigue. Mael and Cian are struggling to find more than snatched moments together as an unknown threat drive the Weres into Vampire territory. But, the Weres are not the only ones that are targeted, as Vampires are being staked and rumors are spread. It is up to Mael and Cian along with Diocourides (father of all Vampires) to bring allies together to vanquish the enemy who threatens the entire paranormal world.

I must admit I was gobsmacked by the turn of events in this book and I had to flick through previous books to refresh my memory (all three series), because even though they are not of this series one of the characters has a fundamental part in this one. There is a lot going on with many different characters, but if you have read all three series, then you will know the characters that make an appearance and you will also understand why they were called upon. Now this is a well written story, with a strong storyline and plot, but there was so much going on that unless you have read all the books you might lose some threads.

I really don’t know where to begin… hmmm, Cian has chosen who he wants as his son. Mael and Cian have to sort out the influx of Weres and why they have headed their way. they have the warning of a powerful threat. hmmm they then have to go to Rome and Nigel starts his ranting again. Then, Christian (Mael’s son) becomes involved and Cian becomes jealous. Vampires start to get killed and the rumors begin. Nigel finds out the truth about Taylor (Cian’s new son) and rants even more. the new enemy decides to attack and the allies have a fight on their hands. And then we have the fall out after the battle is won. So, a lot going on and that doesn’t even begin to really cover it.

So, I recommend this to those who love an in-depth paranormal world, complex vampire politics, intrigue, betrayal, plots and jealousy, Love, frustration, battles and new love. There is a lot to experience in this book so I highly recommend this if you love vampires and angels.

Blurb: After the collapse of civilization, Ager Munez finds work as an agent, helping customers with their zombie insurance needs. He’s a bit of a workaholic and a romantic at heart, but the only romance he’s been experiencing lately involves watching his bosses in tight-fitting jeans on casual Fridays.

Jim and Jason Tanner agree they want a third in their relationship, but have never been able to find the right man. When Ager begins working at Deadzone, they know that they’ve found their match. He’s smart, funny, and adorable in a way that should be illegal in at least four sectors.

When a zombie outbreak in Sector 7 requires field representatives, the two know the perfect candidate for the job. Little does Ager know that this mission will test him in ways he’s never been tested and land him not one but two hot men in his bed and his heart.

Note: This book contains double anal penetration.

Review: Ager works at Deadzone, an insurance company that takes care of ‘all your Zombie needs’ including disposal of a zombie outbreak. Ager fantasies about his boss, Jim and on occasion Jim’s husband, Jason, but he never truly dared hope that he would ever catch either of their eyes, especially seeing as they are happily married. Jim and Jason have had their eyes on Ager since he started working for them, but have held off for the right time. Now, in the middle of a zombie outbreak, Jason is impatient and rushes things, but he is lucky, as Aga is receptive. Now, all they have to do is get out of sector seven alive.

This has got to be one of the best zombie stories that I have come across. I thought the characters were brilliant, the world building was great and the plot was really interesting. Ager is terrified of zombies, his dad worked for the UMF (United Military Forces) and sat on his balcony shooting zombies that strayed too close for the fun of it. But, it left Ager scarred and now Ager is quite happy to stay in his nice safe zone, in his nice safe job and not have to see a zombie ever again. Well, that is until his bosses ask him to go to Sector 7 with them. Both Jim and Jason own Deadzone and they have the perfect marriage, but they long for a third. Both are positive that Ager is that third and want to ease him in gently, but being in Sector 7 puts a rush on their relationship.

I really wasn’t sure what to expect when I cracked open this book, but it sure was a treat. Jana Downs has created a world in the future where a military experiment went wrong and they are now plagued with zombies and not just the run of the mill ‘brains brains’ zombies, no she has also given us second level Necros and Necro-Kings who are more cunning in their hunt for ‘food’. Ager, Jim and Jason find themselves cut off and hunted by these zombies and it is a trek for their lives, to get to a safe zone before they are caught. Ager has to let go of a lot of his fears and Jason comes to a realization about his active role in ‘clean-ups’. And Jim realizes that he isn’t cut out for field work anymore.

The progression of the story is great and yes, the sex is extremely hot and even though it might seem quick, it didn’t really feel quick because although they have just got together, they have all been sniffing around each other. Each man has to face something personal to them, Ager’s is the toughest to confront, as it is not just fear. Jim and Jason’s is more of facing the truth and accepting their limitations.

So, with this one, I will recommend it to those who love zombies, three hot men, hot sex, a run for your life, some slight betrayal, a bloody battle against zombies and a very sweet and happy ending.

After the tragic loss of his parents and sister, Rex has no interest in romance. Review:  Okay…confession time.  I was itching for this book since it popped onto Dreamspinner’s Coming Soon page.  The little boy on the cover was absolutely adorable and I couldn’t wait to read his story.  But, when I got We Danced in my hot little hands and started to read I almost didn’t make it through chapter one.

No.  It wasn’t that the writing was that terrible.  Jeff Erno is a fabulous storyteller.  I had no trouble picturing a tired barkeep cleaning up at the end of the night.  The smell of Pine-sol, the music playing in the background, the timid knock on the door, all set a wonderful mood that sucked me in.  Then we came to the dance.  I may have mentioned in the past that I strongly disapprove of instalove unless werekin are involved.  So for two sober, absolute strangers to slow dance in an empty bar almost had me running for the hills.  Then Mr. Erno nicely let Josh have the perfect reaction and I was hooked.  No way was I putting this book down, until I reached The End.

Turns out, rather than the sappy mess I feared, We Danced is one of those books that I will go back and re-read again and again.  It was absolutely brilliant.  Neither Josh nor Rex was looking for a love match.  Hell, they weren’t even looking for a hook-up.  And Josh is a bit leery of getting involved with a single dad.  Their romance unfolds ever so nicely.  It’s sexy, it’s funny and Ty is a little angel.  I loved that despite their apprehensions, they were both so honest and supportive of each other.  Rex and Ty show Josh that there is room in his life for more than just his academic dreams.  And Josh helps Rex remember, he had dreams of his own, before his life was tragically altered and Ty became his sole purpose for being.  Did I mention the hot, steamy sex…;-) And there is enough blood pressure raising drama to justify me taking extra dose or two, while I read.  *smdh* Family…too bad you can’t hand pick them.

I have one more confession…this was my first Jeff Erno read.  I know you are probably shaking your head and wondering how I could own a M/M review site and failed to read one of the biggies in the biz…I have no excuse.  But, now that I have been introduced properly to this fabulous writer, you can bet, I’ll be begging for his entire backlist.

I am recommending this book to readers who love seeing single dads find love, little boys who are wise beyond their years and sexy young men who have sense enough to alter their dreams to include falling in love.

Review: Zack and his partner, Claire, are the detectives in charge of the murder outside the club Inferno. Jack pegs club owner, Dante, as the murderer and is determined to bring him in. but, against all odds he can’t fight his attraction to the dark sexy man.

This is a wonderful novel from Scarlet Blackwell where the characters are as complex as they are interesting. Zack takes an instant dislike to Dante when he interviews him about a murder behind his club. Is it because he really believes him to be the culprit or because of his fierce attraction to the man? One thing Zack knows for sure is he won’t rest until the culprit is behind bars and he will do everything he can to prove Dante is that man. But, his attraction blindsided him and puts him in a position where everything falls apart and he only has one thing left to hold onto… Dante.

This is one of those books that grip you from the beginning. It pulls you into the complex world of two strong stubborn men and gives you an array of twists and turns you truly don’t see coming and all the while it is feeding us with hot sex, complex characters, an interesting police investigation and two sexy stubborn men. This so didn’t follow the formula that I have got used to in crime stories, I was gobsmacked by some turns of events and wondered what the hell Zack would do next. His relationship with Dante always seemed to hit a brick wall and it takes some deep determination from Zack to begin to crack Dante’s ice encased heart.

Dante is one of the coldest characters I have come across, but there is vulnerability that we catch glimpses of. he truly thinks he doesn’t deserve happiness and that he is no good to anyone. Jack has his hands full proving otherwise, so there are clashes between them, but when they are together there are sparks between them that become explosive and passionate when they have sex. It is far from easy for Zack, mostly because of how Dante treats him, but also because he has no control over how he feels for Dante.

The writing, storyline and plot are brilliant. Actually seeing a MC paying for the consequences of his actions is pretty rare, but damn it was done well. Dante has some deep-seated issues which we just catch snippets of and Jack is deep in the closet at work. A character I liked, which surprised me, was Claire, we see things from her POV a couple of times and that actually added to the story.

So, I am going to recommend this to those who like hot broken men, crime dramas, mistakes made and paid for, conflicting emotions and a surprising happy ending.

Review:  I really was excited about the idea of a MMF three-way, especially between committed and married people. I have to say I was let down. The story was too sweet and unrealistic. It would have been a good fairytale. I did like the fact that Kit loved her husband enough to indulge his bisexual side.  I also liked that she welcomed Gav’s kids, too and I really liked Gav’s character. I always have had a thing for the bad boy types. I also loved the rugged mansex between Gav and Adam. The only problem I had was it seemed like the story never really moved. If it had been shorter it may have been a great short, but it seemed too droll on and on about how Kit loved them both and loved the kids and she was just way too good to be true. The story would have been awesome with just Gav and Adam.

I recommend this book  if you like MMF romance that is focused on the female, a too good to be true romance, some very rugged hot mansex (just not enough of it) and a story involving the struggles of a relationship with spouses with children from multiple relationships.

Review:  Outstanding, amazing and seriously funny! Outtakes of a Walking Mistake by Anthony Paull is fresh, new and exciting. The story revolves around Tyler Morris an ‘out’, gay, 16-year-old who is in love with Billy Greske, the heart-throb of his high school. In order for him to win Billy’s love (even though Tyler is not sure if Billy is gay, but does he cares? No.), he auditions for a student film. And so begins the story of Tyler and Billy as they begin to accept who they are.

I absolutely loved Tyler! He is interesting, outgoing and seriously funny. He reminded me a lot of Lola from Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. He had that little spark that got me laughing from page one. Billy was the bomb! He was the type of guy that anyone would want to have as their boyfriend, because he had a very generous and kind heart. The secondary cast was amazingly good as well. I loved Tyler’s dad, even though he did not approve of his son being gay. What I loved about him was the way he protected Tyler, because at the end of the day, it was his son. Jenny, Tyler’s best friend, was surprisingly real. She brought the element of realness to the story, since her life was tragic and sad. However, the girl was fun to have around especially when she was high on meds. I know I should have hated Tyler’s mom, but I absolutely loved her! She was a very surprising character and I instantly fell for her free-spirited personality. My heart broke whenever Tyler rejected her. I know he had his reasons, but the woman was amazing to me. Eric was a very peculiar character. He was the bad boy that everyone should stay away from, but can’t keep their hands off! He was a complete d-bag, but I found him to be hot, interesting and luring. The one thing that I didn’t like was the ending. I still don’t know who grabbed Tyler’s hand! It all indicates that it was Billy, but it left me with doubts. This novel needs a sequel and fast!

I would recommend this novel to anyone who wants a fun read or have a very random sense of humor. You will laugh, cry and laugh some more.

Review: To all of you yaoi lovers, I found the right book for you. For those of you who are completely lost and wondering what the hell that is, yaoi focuses on homoerotic male relationships that are usually written by female authors. It is more commonly known as Boys’ Love. You should also know that yaoi novels usually take more than one novel to complete. Basically, if you want to know the ending, you will have to buy both volumes of this novel. Now, with that said, this novel is really fast paced and well written.

When I tell you well written, I’m basically saying that Alex A. Akira does an outstanding job when describing the characters and everything around them. To some, this may take away from the plot, but in reality, this is a work of art written in words. You can perfectly picture every single thing throughout the novel and that reminded me a young and talented woman who became famous because she wrote several novels that included a young wizard. Their genre may be different, but their execution or writing style is almost the same.

Now, back to the novel, the love story in this novel revolves around Michael Black and Kiyoshi Kimura. They both come from very troublesome pasts. I love Michael and Kiyoshi together since they bring out the best out of each other. Somehow they seem to balance each other off perfectly well. Michael comes from family whose family members mysteriously die due to unknown or tragic circumstances. By the young age of fifteen, he was left all alone and to fend for himself. Kiyoshi, on the other hand, is a very unique character since he suffers from multiple personality disorders. My heart broke when I found out what led to his current state. His past is tragic and very sad. Without giving away too much of the plot, Kiyoshi is basically three persons in one and the NPA (National Police Association of Japan) is looking for one of his personalities. It is up to Michael and Ichiro (Kiyoshi’s cousin and Michael’s Sensei) to hide and save him from them. I will recommend this novel to all the yaoi lovers out there and to anyone who wants to try something new and fresh.

Blurb: When Prince Leon disappears and his people are unable to find him, they turn to the dragons for help. Nyle is the unlucky dragon tasked with finding the missing prince, a duty he dreads as it forces him into the confounding human world and away from his collection of pretties.

Locating a missing prince should be a simple matter, but if Nyle has learned anything about humans since being forced out among them it’s that they needlessly complicate everything. When he finally locates the errant prince, however, what Nyle finds is a treasure worth all the complications—worth protecting at all costs.

Review: An’nanyle (Nyle) is the dragon tasked with finding the human prince, Leon. But, Nyle discovers that things have been kept from the dragon Elders, as he is swept away by the young prince, who he wants as his pretty.

This is a very enjoyable fantasy, with its combination of dragons, wolves, magi and humans. Nyle is a very innocent, three hundred year old dragon. When he is tasked with finding the human prince, he is not happy to be taken from his pretties. But, he finds a pretty that he wants even more. Leon may be a prince, but his situation keeps him from returning home. With Nyle, he can be himself and together they uncover the secrets that the human King is hiding; that will bring the humans, wolves and dragons together to fight a common foe.

Well, this is a well written story that has good world building, great characters and an enjoyable storyline. Nyle and Leon are great characters who pull you into the story and keep you reading. Nyle is not quite your typical dragon, because although he loves his pretties and his hoard, he likes to do things his own way and he is the first dragon to have sex in hundreds of years! Leon is a werewolf and his wolf wants Nyle as well as his human side, but I don’t really think it is in the instant mates’ sense, more like both wolf and human like what they see and they corrupt the innocent dragon all too well ;-).

I enjoyed learning about Nyle and Leon’s world and we learn about the by-play between the species and some of the background about each of species. The characters are charming and the interaction between them all was great and I loved the fact that all the personalities are so different; two of the supporting characters that I thought were great were Nyle’s hatch mother Gail and maybe (complicated) father Toel. The storyline has plenty of action and humor (Nyle and his pretties), but it also has plenty of snuggles as well, we get some hot sex and see a dragon and wolf fall in love quite quickly.

I have to recommend this to those who love fantasy, shifters whether their dragons or wolves, who enjoy a touch of danger, humor, hot sex, pretties and a happy ending.

Blurb: When Michael “Mickey” Monroe arrived on the planet Wilgrin after escaping his home of Rodeiro, his only plan had been to make just enough money to get enough fuel to fly to another planet. One where no one knew him, where he could fade into the background. Where he didn’t have to worry about someone trying to beat him up at every turn.

However, working in the restaurant known as Durac, Mickey comes in contact with Carl Cavendish and realizes that no matter where he goes, someone is going to want to beat the shit out of him. Making a run for it, Mickey comes face to face with one of the most gorgeous carriages that he’s ever seen, with a real live duke inside. Accepting the stranger’s offer of help, Mickey soon finds himself naked and in the arms of Evander Cavendish, the gorgeous father of Carl Cavendish.

Before Mickey can blink he’s married and dealing with a stepson who would rather see him dead than at the dining room table, a husband who only seems to want him for his body, and a secret that he doesn’t know how to reveal to his new family, but one that he only has about nine months to share before it makes an appearance all on its own.

Review: Mickey arrived on the planet Wilgrin after running from his family. He is hiding for his life after being chased by a group of thugs when a carriage pulls up and its occupant saves him. Now he finds himself married to a Duke, with the lead thug who chased him as a step-son and a surprise for his husband.

This is an enjoyable story that is amusing and light-hearted. Mickey has been treated like crap for many a year, now he has a fresh start on Wilgrin, if he decides to stay, but others decide he isn’t welcome. But then he meets (giggle) Evander and his life changes again, but not all of it is good. his step-son is the leader of the gang who wanted to beat the crap out of him, his new husband only seems to want him for his body and he has a secret and no clue how his husband will react. Can it get any worse?

I really enjoyed this story and thought the character of Mickey was brilliant, his sometimes rambling thoughts were humorous and kept me invested in Mickey. The progression of the story was quick, but smooth, with hot sex and some tender scenes. I liked the world building we were given and was thankful the author gave a detailed explanation for the Rodeiron species, it made Mickey’s situation more believable. I really liked Mickey’s behavior, it was so true to life and Evander’s reaction was so sweet, their friends add a good round-up with the characters and really added to the story.

Now this story is all from Mickey’s POV, so we don’t get that invested in Evander as we do with Mickey, but Evander seems to be a man who keeps things close to his chest, and is completely oblivious to his son and his actions because he wants to believe his son has turned over a new leaf. His reactions towards Mickey are harder to define as we only see it from Mickey’s side, but, from his reactions later in the book, we see how much he loves Mickey.

I have to recommend this one to those who like science fiction, fantasy, hot sex, and a touch of danger, m-preg and a happy ever after.

Blurb: Dwelling in the land of Ada and defending magic users called the Jin, Fen Jacin-rei is a trained assassin and an Untouchable, one whose mind hosts the Voices of the Ancestors, spirits of long-dead magicians. His fate should be one of madness and solitude, yet Fen Jacin-rei desperately clings to his sanity and ferociously protects the family he loves. But how does Fen do it? Kamen Malick has every intention of finding out.

When Malick and his own small band of assassins ambush Fen in an alley, Malick offers Fen one choice: join us or die. Determined to decode the intrigue that surrounds Fen—and to have the Untouchable for himself—Malick sets to unraveling Fen’s past while Fen delves into the mysteries surrounding Malick.

Glossary for words and meanings at the beginning of book.

Review: Oh, my freaking God… put down whatever you are doing get this book and read your little hearts out. This type of book is the reason why I love fantasy so much, the pure joy of the imagination, the complete world building and the mysterious characters that all have their own stories.

Fen Jacin-rei is an Untouchable, a Ghost, a loner driven to distraction by the voices that plague him; it is only his training that saves him from complete madness. Kamen Malick is the leader of a small band of assassins who has been ordered to get Fen working with them at any cost. But, as secrets come out about Fen, Malick has his own secrets that he is trying desperately to keep hidden.

Wow, just freaking wow, the world building in this book is world-class, the characters are all incredible and the story-line and plot are fantastic. The story begins with Malick looking for Fen and finding him from then on the story and characters will intrigue and baffle you. Malick is just so full of awe about himself, but he is completely loveable, Fen is a cold hard-hearted bastard, but as you get to know his story and background you understand his need to be as cold as possible.

The story is from many POV not just Malick and Fen’s, but also from Malick’s group of friends and Fen’s mentor which means that we get a full-bodied story will lots of detail, but we never lose focus of the story-line. Malick spends most of the book trying to seduce Fen, because he has a very cavalier attitude towards sex and it isn’t until he knows Fen a little better that he realizes that he genuinely likes Fen. Fen spends a lot of time rebuffing Malick, because of how he was treated in the past. We also have flashbacks to Fen’s life before; starting on the night he was born.

I really can’t tell you more about the story-line, because really it would ruin it for you. This is a journey that you have to take yourself, because you have to be immersed to absorb all the details that make it so good. The ending isn’t a happy ever after or a happy for now, it’s a ‘we have to see what happens’, it is left in a place that will be picked up again in the next book (4 books altogether) and it will be a continuation of this story. Malick and Fen do get together in this and yes, they have explosive, erotic and sensual sex, but Malick has a long way to go to gain Fen’s complete trust and hopefully his love. While Fen will probably find it hard to believe Malick, because of Malick’s own manipulation early on.

So, In all honesty this is a fantasy whose characters just happen to be gay. If you are expecting sex and love on every page then don’t bother. This is a genuine Fantasy like Mercedes Lackey’s The Last Herald Mage Trilogy. So, I recommend this to those who love fantasy, mystery, bloody fights, intrigue, scorching hot sex, great characters, awesome world building and the promise of another three books to come.

Blurb: The amorality of gods makes it hard to tell ‘bad’ from ‘good’ and ‘right’ from ‘wrong’. Fen doesn’t care. All Fen cares about is saving his family, and he’ll risk anything and anyone that gets in his way. Including his own soul.

No longer willing to wait for the machinations of the gods’ minions, Fen accepts the trade Malick has offered and together they set out to rescue Fen’s family and kill the man Fen has loved for years. With the Ancestors still screaming in his head, and with the duplicity and manipulations whirling around him, Fen finds it harder and harder to do without the silence Malick can offer him.

Malick has his own reasons to hand over everything Fen wants, and equally compelling reasons to withhold everything Fen needs. Over his head, and timing as bad as ever, Malick must devise a way to do his god’s bidding without breaking his god’s laws—and keep Fen sane and on Malick’s side in the bargain.

Review: God damn. But this cover suits the book to a tee. Fen/Jacin doesn’t give a damn what the Gods’ want, he wants his family safe and Malick to keep his promises and that’s all he wants.  Well, that and silence. Malick has made promises that he always seems seconds away from keeping, he can’t break his gods’ law, but he needs his vengeance and Fen is the only way to safely get it. But, now his promises are falling apart, he’s being betrayed and he finds he still has a heart.

Carole Cummings, I bow down before your greatness. This story/series is what High Fantasy is all about and damn if you haven’t made me one happy Pixie. Fen/Jacin struggles to find balance within himself and without. He finds himself having to depend on other people for the first time, he expects betrayal and manipulation, he expects to be used for others needs, but what he never really expects is for someone to see him, to love him and to truly want him. Malick is bound by the laws of the gods, but he has his own instructions from Wolf and his own plans to fulfill, all the while keeping everyone safe and facing betrayal from one who is close to him.

There is no way that I could explain everything that goes on in this book, as it really is just too epic and I really wouldn’t want to give anything away, but this I will tell you… there is betrayal from unexpected quarters, there is love, hope, dreams, tragedy, deaths, devastation, grief of epic proportions, bloodshed, gruesome bloodshed, grave injuries, smug maijin and Temshiel and above all else we have a troubled Untouchable and a perplexed Temshiel.

This is not a story for those who don’t want something to chew on or those who want a light read or instant romance and love and lots of sex. This is a story that is complex in its diversity, because just as you think you have a good grasp on what is going on and what is being said, something else is thrown into the mix to change it all. Malick accepts that he has a more mortal heart than he remembered and how that has affected the outcome. Fen sees more than he thinks he does and the Ancestors voices make more sense than anyone thought. We get caught up in Fen’s insane rambling mind a few times and we can begin to truly feel what he goes through constantly, but Malick giving Fen silence only makes it worse when he has to listen to the voices again.

There is only one sex scene in this book and it is more out of desperation for Fen than true want… Fen really has no true clue about sex and love and the meaning of both of them. There are moments for both Fen and Malick of just snuggling, but it throws Fen as to why he’d want it. The writing in this book is smooth and flows well and sometimes it’s like watching poetry in motion with its whimsical feel. The characters are all incredible well written and you will all end up with your favorites (mines Fen/Jacin ;-).)

Well, anyway, I have to recommend this to those who love high fantasy, betrayal, bloodshed, plots, manipulation, twists, devastation, an epic brutal final battle, a promise of two more books and a happy as it’s going to be ending.

Blurb: After saving his people, killing the man he once loved, and losing his little sister, Fen Jacin-rei has made his way to Tambalon with his surviving brothers and Kamen Malick. But shortly after arriving, old ghosts resurface, new dangers arise, and Malick tells Fen the gods aren’t done with him yet.

Fen now knows he’s a catalyst for Fate and a magnet for Fate’s players, and he’s dangerously close to falling over the edge into insanity. But tracking down the vicious creatures that have been abducting and murdering citizens of Tambalon is just as critical as dealing with past lives and legendary beings.

With a threat all too close and a secret he needs to explain, Malick is at odds with those who should be his allies, and no matter how much he wants to protect Fen, it may be more than he can manage when he’s trying to keep them alive.

Review: Oh Fen, poor, poor Fen. Your creator has it in for you. But, god damn, she does it in such a way that we all love you and want you to have a perfect life. Fen thought it was over, the voices of the Ancients are gone, the Jin are on their way to freedom and he has his brother’s back, but the gods haven’t finished with him yet… far from it.

Carole Cummings, I don’t know whether to love you or hate you, because freaking hell, you write one hell of a book, but your ending deserves severe punishment. Fen-Jacin is still floating on the brink of insanity. Oh okay *sigh*, on the brink of complete insanity. He’s holding on by his finger nails and he isn’t being helped by the ghosts that are following him. Malick is trying to protect him as much from outside influences as possible, but even he can’t smother the ghosts completely. Outsiders from all angles want him and then Malick is gone, his touchstone has disappeared and now with no tether, Fen is adrift, haunted and hunted with no one to help him.

This story is a great continuation of Wolf’s-own and the constant mental torture that Fen is under. Malick does know what he is doing, even when it seems like he doesn’t and putting Fen into danger before he is ready is not a mistake that Malick wants to make, but it is soon taken out of Malick’s hands. This book is filled with an awry of clues and hints as to what we are heading towards, but Fen is so not the person who would ever put it together. In fact, all the characters seem to focused on what their own god wants to recognize the danger that is heading towards them, and in their own selfish need to prevail they make matters worse.

Fen and the characters of this book are in for a ride, who or what is haunting Fen? Is it really Asai? Can any of the Maijin or Temshiel find the truth of what is happening in Tambalon? And will any of the readers’ ereaders survive the ending of the book 😉 lol. This story is fantastically written it’s a well woven story that will make you pull your hair out, have you screaming into your fist and make you wish for some happiness for Fen. These are characters that you will love, hate, or sneer at and wish someone would stab them; we have old characters and new, some making up for past mistakes and some making new ones and through it all we have Fen trying to hold on to what little sanity he has left and being expected to save them all.

So, I recommend this to those who love high fantasy, fights, blood and gore, manipulation, mistaken betrayal and a cliff hanger ending that will frustrate the hell out of you, unless you have the next book ready to read.

…Or maybe not. Old enemies and new allies seek to control Fen, now known as “Kamen’s Untouchable.” It’s going to take everything Fen’s got to figure out who he can trust—and who he should fear. It might take more than what Fen’s got to discern who is even real.

Review: This story picks up where Koan left off, so obviously you need to read the entire series and yes, I am being serious. This is not a series that can be picked up in the middle. Fen finds himself in the middle of the biggest fight for his life and sanity than anything that has come before (honestly, everything before will look like a slight headache and a bit of an itch). Malick is still gone, people are after Fen either to recruit or to kill and his brothers are in danger.

Wow.  An incredible end to the Wolf’s-own saga. Everything we have seen before culminates to an incredible ending where we see a little happiness finally, at long last, for Fen. Fen is still running, but now he knows everything and that everything might just push him that final inch into raging insanity. While Fen is finding the truth, his brothers and friends along with the Temshiel and maijin are fighting for their lives, as those that have hidden in the shadows come out to play.

Fen begins to come into his own in this book, as he begins to realize that he truly does have choices that he can make and no one, not even the Gods, can force him to do something he really doesn’t want to do. They may try to manipulate and coerce, but unless Fen really wants it, it isn’t going to happen. When Malick reappears you can basically feel the complete relief poring off Fen, but he is a little bit more solid at his core. Everything comes together beautifully and we have some fantastic battles and fights, some incredible malicious torture (go, Malick, go) and some of the most nasty, spiteful gods that we could ever see.

Nothing is missing in this story. Everything we have learned in the past and the hints we received are all made clear. There is nothing left to chance (although a short of Fen and Malick being happy would be cool). There are strings that are left dangling, but not for our beloved Fen and Malick. This story is well written and flows smoothly, the characters bring the story to life and the detail that we get feeds our imagination to a firestorm.

I have to recommend this to those who love high fantasy, danger, fights, magic, or have been there every step of the way through the rest of the series, this isn’t a story to miss and we catch a brief glimpse of happiness for Fen and Malick.

Blurb: Love can be dangerous. Though they’re drawn to each other, for recently injured Charlie, love is like a leap of faith into unknown waters. For Ness, who has loved and lost before, this time love could be suicide.

Everybody knows jumping into unknown waters is suicide. But sometimes it’s the only way off the ledge. When Sydney cop Ness meets vivacious surfer boy Charlie, his resolve to never fall in love again shatters. Charlie’s carefree life of sun, sand, surf, and sexy men is disrupted when the only way Ness and the emergency response team can save him from a car wreck is to remove his right arm.

Charlie needs support and companionship, but as he and Ness take a leap of faith into love, their doubts and fears are compounded by the possessiveness of Charlie’s troubled foster brother. Amid physical and emotional chaos, Ness and Charlie fight for the only thing that can save them: each other.

Review: When Ness is called to the scene of an accident he never expected to see his one night stand from a month ago. Ness spends the next four hours getting to know the beautiful surfer and now he is hooked. Charlie is struggling with losing his arm, but he is happy to see his rescuer again when he is in hospital. They begin a relationship, with both of them working out their personal demons. But, Charlie’s foster brother Joey is hostile and before long Ness and Charlie are fighting for their relationship and each other.

This is an exceptionally well written story of personal demons and outside influences. Charlie is involved in a car crash and loses his arm; Ness is one of his rescuers and also a one night stand. They embark on a relationship that is both difficult and loving, Charlie feels like his life is over and that nobody could possible want him, but Ness slowly helps to build up his confidence and self-image. Ness believes that there is something wrong with him as his last partner shot him and then killed himself. he believes he missed something and made him so unhappy that he tried to kill him. Charlie tries his best to reassure Ness that he couldn’t be happier, but the doubts linger. When things start to go wrong both men blame themselves, but it isn’t long before they realize that they are being manipulated.

I loved this book! The story of Charlie and Ness’ relationship and the psychological minefield that they wade through to find happiness is touching. The progression of the story is well paced and the characters are likable and loveable. Both men are strong characters in their own way, but they are also vulnerable. Charlie’s is mainly self-image and not just what he looks like, but the image of himself as a man who was independent and suddenly having to rely on others for everything and it making him feel like a baby. And, with Ness, it is mainly his own feeling of being unable to keep someone happy and his fear of letting someone else down. When you learn Ness’ background story you can understand that fear.

When you read this book, you can see where the plot is going, but that doesn’t take away anything from the pleasure of this story. There are a lot of psychological problems in this story and not just for Ness and Charlie. Joey, Charlie’s foster brother hates Ness and it isn’t until late in the book that Charlie pieces together all the clues, but by then it just might be too late.

I will recommend this book to those who love emotionally scarred men, harrowing loss, strong characters who take the help of friends, finding love when least expected, some angst, hot loving and a happy ending.

Review: Sean and Yana are back, with Sean just completing his training to become an agent of the Peace Keepers and Yana settling into semi-retirement. Their relationship is going strong, but Sean begins to have concerns on their first mission together and then Yana’s ex shows up causing waves… but, the worst for both of them is Sean’s disappearance, can Yana get to Sean in time?

This is a great novella giving us a look into the life of Yana and Sean as they go on missions and resolve personal difficulties. Yana and Sean are a great couple. their relationship is going well and Sean is about to go on his first mission, but Yana voices his doubts when he hears the Krill’s might be heading in the same direction which makes Sean feel like Yana doesn’t really believe in his abilities. Later, on a break on Earth, Yana’s ex sticks his nose in and Sean leaves Yana.  Luckily, Aaron and Noel stage an intervention. Then Sean is kidnapped and Yana must save him, but will Sean ever recover?

Quite a bit of action and excitement with arguments and recriminations, misunderstandings and forgiveness are in this story. We have the wonderful Yana and Sean and although their relationship is great, it is about to hit a very rocky patch. Not only that, but Yana’s concern makes Sean feel as though he is incapable of his new job and then we have the kidnapping, which is quite heart-breaking for Yana and very disturbing for Sean. I quite liked the way we could have a peek into Yana and Sean’s lives and the action of the missions was really good. Sean’s reaction to the ex was completely over the top though and I think Yana forgave him too quickly. I would have made him stew for a lot longer.

So, I recommend this to those who love sci-fi, action, danger, personal conflict, over the top reactions, very forgiving natures and a happy ever after.

Review: Dylan loves his carefree life; the freedom, the excitement and the challenge, but he fears he will lose all of that when he is left a florist shop by a friend. But, now he has a new challenge one that includes the hunky lawyer Sean. Sean is captivated the first time he bumps into Dylan and prays that Dylan will settle down in Jacksonville. But, Dylan isn’t the only change in Sean’s life, as Sean has to make a decision about how far he would go to win a case.

Serena Yates brings us another warm-hearted sweet romance, where the characters come to life, the romance is sweet and loving, and the sex is hot and erotic! Dylan doesn’t like to be tied down; he enjoys being able to go where he wants, when he wants and being creative in his floral designs. But, now he is about to get tied down to one place because he can’t bear to sell his friend’s shop. He has to at least try to make a go of it and he has the added incentive of the sexy lawyer, Sean. Sean is so used to his routine that he doesn’t even notice just how staid his life has become. That is, until he meets Dylan, who adds joy and excitement to his life. He just hopes that Dylan will stick around and does his damnedest to help convince Dylan that Jacksonville is the place stay.

Oh. I loved Dylan and Sean. They complimented each other really well and it was a joy to watch them fall in love. Dylan and Sean’s relationship was easy-going, it was perfect in every regard, now, their work lives is where problems crop up and they are the perfect support for each other, while they deal with their work issues. Now, if you are worried that the relationship is boring believe me it isn’t… just wait till they go horse riding (wow, really hot). And, oh my, *fans self* they are very, very passionate, which can brush over into intense at times.

So, I recommend this to those who love hot, passionate relationships, two hot men, a good and interesting storyline and a happy sexy ending.

Blurb: Gideon is a New Orleanian prostitute. Evan, the Cajun King, is magnetic, dominant, and attractive, impossible to resist. The Cajun’s embrace is tempting, but Gideon needs to conquer his feelings of inadequacy to find something lasting with his dream man.

Gideon went down to the Big Easy to escape his old life; unfortunately, things got worse. He’s homeless and alone in an unfamiliar city until a group of rent boys called the French Quarter Brats take him in. Gideon learns to use his body to survive. However, eager tourists and the occasional lonely local get boring and Gideon begins to yearn for more.

When Gideon meets the Cajun King, Evan St. Germaine, he’s struck by the man’s dominant personality and rugged good looks. He becomes obsessed with becoming the Cajun’s pet rent boy.

But Evan isn’t an everyday john and he demands more for his cash than Gideon’s body and his willing submission. Evan demands Gideon’s heart.

Review: Gideon hoped for a better life when he moved to New Orleans, but found himself on the streets turning tricks. He shares an apartment with five other Brats who work the Quarter with him. Gideon approaches the Cajun King (Evan) one day and makes a cheeky offer, one that surprises even himself, now he has choices to make, but can he really live as the Cajun’s Pet?

This is a Prince in Shining Armor story…but with a twist. Gideon doesn’t like tricking and he only does the minimum of tricks to pay the rent and to eat and even then he will go days without food. One day a man catches his eye and he is mesmerized. When Gideon finds out the mystery man’s name and where he eats breakfast, he is compelled to approach and make him an offer Gideon never thought he would ever utter. But, Evan knows exactly what he wants and although Gideon rises up to expectations, Evan needs to be sure that Gideon knows what he is getting into and what Gideon wants for himself as well.

This is a really well written novella that delves into an aspect of D/s that isn’t portrayed very often. When Gideon offers to be Evan’s pet he confuses himself. Because, although he will act submissive, he has never had a need to be submissive to someone. But, Evan draws that out of him without even trying. Now, Evan knows what he wants and yes, that is a pet, but he also wants something more and he has to get that across to Gideon. When Evan does try to make Gideon understand, Gideon reacts badly and it is only on later reflection that Gideon realizes that he needs to grow up and to take back control of his own life. And yes, you will sit there shaking your head at Gideon’s behavior, but remember he is young and headstrong and can you all honestly say you never got pushed aside, then got drunk and did something stupid (yeah me either, I am an innocent Pixie lol).

This story isn’t just about a Dominate, a rent boy and hot sex.  It’s about getting what you truly need and want. it’s about finding yourself when you are lost and getting your own control back again and Jana Downs has done a great job of putting that across and also of writing some fantastic hot sex scenes, which were also erotic, but also sweet. I also really liked the fact that in the epilogue everything wasn’t sweetness and light between them and they had things to work through it added a more realistic dimension to it.

So, I recommend this to those who like light D/s, really hot sex that is also sweet and erotic, growing up and finding your Prince Charming who gives you a nudge in the right direction. And I am really hoping for stories for Ter and Jamie (two other Brats).

Blurb: ‘There was a battle and you lost.’ Philip prayed never to see Francis again. Now the man who stole his heart is his prisoner, staking his life on Philip’s honor. All Philip has to do is let him go.

1651: the Battle of Worcester is lost and won. Charles Stuart is a fugitive with a price on his head and Cromwell has the ‘crowning mercy’ of victory. Philip, a sober, respectable young man, fought bravely for the parliamentary cause and is looking forward to peace at his own hearth.

Francis, his lover and childhood friend, returns to make peace with his dying father and to give back Philip’s heart.

Soon Philip finds himself reluctantly sheltering a royalist spy and protecting the witch in his family.

Philip’s duty is clear and Francis staked his life on his honor. All he has to do is let Francis go. But how can Francis ask Philip to deliver him to justice?

Review: There isn’t really anything to add to the blurb because it really does say it all and it hasn’t missed anything out. Philip is a Roundhead following behind Cromwell, but now with the Battle over he is discharged and sent home. On his return home, he finds Francis a Cavalier. his old friend and now his enemy. Francis knows what Philip will do; nothing and no one will come before Philip’s loyalty to Cromwell and he fully expects to be handed over to Cromwell.

This is an interesting novella from a historical point of view, but I found it to be sadly lacking in the romantic/love department. Philip and Francis have apparently shared something in the past, but now they are on opposite sides of a war, with the last Battle fought and the Roundheads rounding up all of Charles Stuart’s supporters it is only a matter of time before they catch Francis. Francis returns to his childhood home to say goodbye to his father and to give himself up to Philip. Philip just wants Francis to go, he never wants to see him again, as it reminds him of his youthful actions, but with Francis before him, he knows he has to do his duty.

Yes, a very interesting historical m/m, but sadly for me there was no spark between the MCs at all and Philip had a stick so far up his arse you could see it coming out the top of his head. I really, really, really disliked Philip and his stuck up pious ways, oh and his political beliefs. Francis would have been so much better off with anyone else. I mean Francis risked it all to see the man again and then he asked Philip to come with him. If Philip had really wanted him and not his land etc. then he should have gone. Francis… why did you waste your years on that man? There are some interesting tid-bits after Francis escapes where it looks like they were meeting up in secret and then the final homecoming when Charles Stuart is returned to his throne.

So, I will recommend this to those who love historicals, pious men, righteous men, men who stick by their beliefs and a happy ending.
