Review: Just when I thought I was going to read one of those “aww” inspiring, sickly sweet kind of read Secret Valentine comes along to blast my mind with an exquisite mix of sweet romance and hotter than hell erotica.
Okay, so this story is a classic friends-to-lovers theme. We met, instant chemistry, misunderstanding is a bitch and we lost so much time, but one of us had to take the chance and go for broke. We’ve read it all before, nothing original here, so it all depends on the writing, and if the author can make it special somehow for us.
Well I liked it, a lot. Steve is a freaking pessimist that simply doesn’t drag you with him. He’s been in love with Burgess ever since he met him, but somehow – even as there were sparks between them the moment they laid eyes on each other – they got stuck on the friend zone. Steve is convicted that Burgess only sees him as a friend at least.
Now through Steve’s eyes and kind of funny flashbacks we get to see how these two characters are and were in each other’s presence. We also get to witness a confusing, for Steve, Valentines night, and as you probably guessed all that confusion and longing swell into a hot as the freaking Sahara desert sexual scene. Now some people mind find it a bit rough and tough, but I liked it and it was just so damned erotic it had me panting there a moment or two, even as it followed with some sweet explaining between the two lovers
So if any of the above feels good to you, then I totally suggest this read for you.
Josiah Evans is the orphan who lost both his parents. He’s sweet, shy, and all heart. He wants nothing more than to be loved.
Mateo Sanchez is the son of a gang leader. He’s seen it all, and never hesitates to do what needs to be done, no matter what it is.
Tristan Croft is the wealthy attorney who clawed his way up from the bottom to rule his own world. He’ll never depend on anyone but himself again.
Three men who couldn’t be more different…and yet, as their lives intersect they find an uncommon balance that calms the storms inside each of them, and ignites fires hotter than they ever thought imaginable.
Told uniquely in three parts and spanning over ten years, BROKEN PIECES is a journey of healing for three fragmented souls, finding love in the unlikeliest of places—with each other.
Review: This is one of the best stories I have read in a long time. It was truly beautiful and sweet. It did have its moments but turned out to be a wonderful story. It shows the strengths people have when they are going through such a trying time. When there are two paths to take and the directions the go to. The ability to overcome such pain, anger, and heartache. To turn those negative feelings into what each one of us truly needs and that is love, the feeling of belonging and friendship.
Josiah and Mateo met when Mateo was put into the foster system and joined him in the home where he was. Mateo was an angry young man who had been raised basically in one of the worst New York gangs ever. He had lost his mom to murder, his father to prison and he had been taken away from the gang. A gang he really didn’t want to be with but figured it was what he deserved. Josiah had lost his family to an accident and even with the pain of loss. He was sweet, innocent, and very loving. With Josiah’s help, Mateo wanted more of the life with Josiah. However, his past never really left, so ending it harshly with Josiah he left. Josiah spent the next several years in pain, missing his love. However he did what Mateo had wanted him to, he lived. Then one day Josiah meets Tristan and even though they had their hard times, he wanted a life with this man. However, he still missed Mateo and loved him each day. Tristan had a hard life similar to Mateo, just not with gangs. He was an attorney who sent people to jail and had a mother he loved. He was hard in most ways. However, he was slowly learning to love. When Mateo comes back into Josiah’s life, things get complicated. However, they can make it work. It doesn’t hurt that Josiah’s and Tristan love life is hot and very loving, but then you add in Mateo and the sheets are set on fire.
This story makes me think of what really can happen when people take the wrong path or the right path. That they can destroy their lives or have everything they ever wanted. It is such a tender story that will make you cry at times or want to smack one of them. It comes off so real to me, that I wish they had gone through a different life. To know what they went through, what they gave up protecting the other and what they will get for a reward. I am glad to have had the chance to read this story. It was amazing.

RED DIRT HEART
By N.R. Walker
BLURB:
Welcome to Sutton Station: One of the world’s largest working farms in the middle of Australia – where if the animals and heat don’t kill you first, your heart just might.
Charlie Sutton runs Sutton Station the only way he knows how; the way his father did before him. Determined to keep his head down and his heart in check, Charlie swears the red dirt that surrounds him – isolates him – runs through his veins.
American agronomy student Travis Craig arrives at Sutton Station to see how farmers make a living from one of the harshest environments on earth. But it’s not the barren, brutal and totally beautiful landscapes that capture him so completely.
It’s the man with the red dirt heart.
EXCERPT:
Just on sundown, I got off the motorbike, kicked the stand down so the bike stood upright without me and closed the gate. I’d been out all day in the South paddocks doing a final check of fences and water trough pumps before we bought the cattle down from the North. I’d seen the ute back at the homestead as I came in so I knew George was home.
George was my leading hand. He was in his fifties, with greying hair and sun-hardened skin. He’d worked here for as long I could remember, but he was more than a loyal employee. He was my friend, and in a lot of ways, more of a dad to me than my own old man ever was.
He’d been out all day, left before sun-up and headed into Alice Springs. We were a good three hours from the nearest town, and with a list as long as his arm from the Station cook, Ma—who also happened to be his wife—he needed a few hours in town before heading out to the airport to pick up the real reason for his trip: an American agronomy student by the name of Travis Craig.
When my father ran this farm, or station as we called it, every year we’d have people from another country come and spend a couple of weeks as part of some Diversification exchange program. My old man always said it was a good way to source out what other countries were teaching, but really I think he just liked the extra pair of hands at the finish of the dry season. And when we’d had a phone call back in July to ask if we’d be interested in hosting another student, and given it’d been a few years, I thought it seemed like a good idea. Now I couldn’t help but wonder if this Travis Craig would be a help or a liability.
I rode the bike into the yard and pulled up in the shed. I figured they’d know I’d arrived, having heard the bike, so I headed straight for the house. Like most homesteads built almost a hundred years ago, it was a weatherboard home, with an old iron roof and a veranda around four sides to try and keep it cool.
I kicked the red dust from my boots on the veranda steps and tried to brush the same from my jeans, took off my hat before I opened the door and walked inside. There was a suitcase and a duffel bag near the front door and voices at the back of the house.
“In the kitchen,” George called out.
I followed the sound of chatter and the smell of something good to find a meeting of sorts in the old country-style kitchen. The worn, solid wooden table that graced the middle of the room was covered with plates of scones and trays of cups and tea, and three people were in chairs around it—my right-hand man, George, his wife the cook, Ma, and a stranger with short light-brown hair and pale blue eyes.
George was the first to his feet, and the man beside him soon followed. “Here’s the boss, Charles Sutton,” George said, introducing me formally. “Charlie, this is Travis Craig.”
Travis looked about twenty-two years old, not much younger than me. Whereas I was a stockier build, with dull brown hair and boring brown eyes, he was taller than me by a few inches and muscular and lean. He held out his hand and smiled. “Mr Sutton. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” His accent was strange to hear at first, but his smile was warm and wide.
I wiped my hand on my shirt and held it out for him to shake. “Travis,” I said with a nod. “Please, call me Charlie.”
I am many things: a mother, a wife, a sister, a writer.
I have pretty, pretty boys who live in my head, who don’t let me sleep at night unless I give them life with words.
I like it when they do dirty, dirty things… but I like it even more when they fall in love.
I used to think having people in my head talking to me was weird, until one day I happened across other writers who told me it was normal.
I’ve been writing ever since…

Blurb:~~ Welcome to Sutton Station: One of the world’s largest working farms in the middle of Australia – where if the animals and heat don’t kill you first, your heart just might. ~~
Review: Charlie owns Sutton Station in the Australian Northern Territory, and runs it the way his father did. Charlie knows that he will probably never find love especially being isolated by the red dirt that surrounds him and the rarity of his visits anywhere off his land. When an American, Travis, arrives as part of a Diversification program Charlie finds his life turned upside down by his feelings. Travis is visiting Sutton Station to see how Australians farm one of the harshest environments on Earth, but he never expected to find the owner so appealing and with only four weeks to spend on the station will he be able to crack the shell that surrounds Charlie’s heart and will he be able to love the beautiful harsh land that has hold of Charlie.
This is a wonderful story that speaks of the beauty and harshness of the Australian territories and two men who discover love. Charlie is a great character who buried a part of himself when he returned to the station after his father died; haunted by the words his father hurt him with. Travis likes what he sees when he meets the owner of Sutton Station and feels Charlie out to see if the attraction is mutual, but their brief affair looks to be doomed with Travis going home to Texas and Charlie fearful of being discovered as gay. There are many emotions that fly about this story with confusion, lust, want, fear, anger and love being just some of them.
I was extremely impressed with the descriptions of the setting, the harsh beautiful and deadly territories, the reality of living so far from civilisation and the dangers of everyday life on a station in the Australian Territories were incredibly well written; I could picture it in my mind and it reminded me of a near forgotten TV drama The Flying Doctors so I could actually imagine the sheer size of the station with some confidence. Remembering that Australian drama also let me visualise the characters better and understand the circumstances that Charlie finds himself in. Being a station owner, working in harsh conditions and knowing that you have to trust the people you work with, well admitting you are gay has you fearing more than just having someone swear and spit at you.
The relationship between Charlie and Travis is sweet but didn’t quite spark for me, Charlie is quickly talked into a short fling but Travis pushes all of Charlie’s hot spots and it isn’t long before Charlie is dreading the day that Travis will leave. You don’t really get a good feel for what Travis wants until near the end, but being honest by that time I’d found Travis just a bit off putting, he didn’t seem to be as invested in Charlie until it was time for him to leave, if we could have seen things from his perspective a couple of times I am sure I would have warmed up to him sooner rather than near the very end where Travis has to convince Charlie to put his fears aside and accept the love he offers. We also get a bit of excitement when Travis’ horse returns without him, bringing to the fore the dangers of where Charlie lives and bringing home to Charlie just how much he cares for Travis. The secondary characters, especially George and Ma, were great additions to the story supporting Charlie at all times but especially when he needed it most.
I recommend this to those who loves Australian cowboys finding love, an American cowboy discovering home, beautiful backdrops, overcoming fear and taking a chance on love.
Blurb: With a touch of the magic that gives his recipes a culinary kick, Jack Killian has been running his restaurant, the Saucy Minx, for nearly a decade—almost as long as there’s been a spell out there promising to knock him off his feet should he ever meet the other half of his whole. Each day Jack delights his clientele by magically imbuing his food with taste and emotion, even as he slowly loses hope that the man of his dreams even exists.
But when he hires a new dessert manager, his whole life turns upside-down, because his dream man does exist—and he just strolled into the restaurant on someone else’s arm. While conducting business as usual, Jack struggles through what it means when destiny hands you the perfect man on a platter you’re not allowed to touch.
Review: Okay, so the blurb confuses you a bit here and I kept expecting the pastry chef to knock Jack on his feet. So not so.
We here got a case of two best friends since college who once they figured out they were both special they became joined at the hip. They even cast a spell to throw those strings that would capture their other half when they were young, stupid, and drunk.
You’ll come and say: why are you calling them stupid? Well, imagine being twenty and casting a soul-mate spell. Every other man in your life would be completely flat, every emotion with any one completely hollow, and the yearning for that one and only elusive, slippery fish in a big ocean would become crushing as the years go by. Because while your soul mate might exist, he could very well exist on the other half of the world.
If you look deeply at this read, it is so very well thought and so very the universe has strange ways kind of theory behind it; it made my evening that’s for sure. I so love the inevitable fatalistic stories woven in a plot with charming characters.
But I went off track here. So we have two best friends, working a restaurant together, both waiting for their other half, and… Boom! Their other halves walk through the door and… they are in a relationship with each other. Talk about fate laughing in your face. Where does that pastry chef comes in? Oh, he’s the guys’ best friend, of course.
Yeah, I’m not sure how much I’m conveying that this novella was one fun ride. It had a touch of magic that didn’t require much elaboration, it had a touch of despair that came from longing something for so long, it had a touch of humor that came from Fate being a bitch and she’ll always play with mortals, and it had sensuality. It had such a heavy punch of sensuality that I was waiting and reading like frantic to reach the point when the pair finally, finally joins in mutual lust and desire. When they did, well beside hot it was also so freaking hilarious.
Overall, this was a great quick read, meant to make you smile and grin like crazy. Definitely recommended!

Blurb: In a world recovering from a war that devastated humanity, Evan Halvard struggles to control a power he doesn’t understand. Evan is a stonemason. He can give life to stone to create and awaken living gargoyles. When he receives a message that a large gargoyle is about to be demolished by the Church, Evan rushes to save it.
After centuries of sleep, the gargoyle has no interest in a present he can’t relate to. Yet, through the haze of his hibernation, a voice calls to him. He awakens restrained by those he swore to protect. Evan and Adel must work to understand the power connecting them and escape the evil hunting Evan, before the Church destroys Adel.
1st Edition published by Silver Publishing, July 2011
Review: When humanity was nearly destroyed people turned to the Church to ease their grief and when the Government’s fell the Church stepped in to lead. Evan is a young man who can awaken living stone but knows that the Church can never know his secret, so he is secretly part of an underground movement that rescues stone statues that once protected Church sanctuaries. Rescuing a large gargoyle Evan learns more about his powers and discovers that not all is well within the Church. Adel has been sleeping for a long time when he is awoken by the Maker and discovers that those that he has always protected have turned against him and his brethren, but with the Maker by his side, there is hope for all living stone. Adel and Evan must understand their connection and survive the evil ministrations of a Church Father.
Hmmm, gargoyles, post-apocalyptic Church and Elementals mix them together and we have a great start to a brilliant series. In a world that is far different from our own time, the Church leads and they have implemented laws to raise the population, but Rome isn’t in full control. Evan is a stone worker who has a little gift; he can awaken gargoyles. Evan uses his remote cabin and stonemason work for the good of the underground. To rescue statues from destruction at the hands of the church. During one rescue, he awakens a gargoyle that will change his life and bring the love that he has been lacking. Adel discovers his mate in Evan and now needs to protect him, Father Michael has his eye on Evan, and Adel knows it isn’t innocent interest and it isn’t long before the Father makes his move.
This is a great story that has some surprises, great characters and a really good storyline. We are taken into the future where the Church leads, in America the Church is wiping out gargoyles as evil, and Evan is secretly working against them. Evan has grown up seeing how harsh the Church can be so when he meets Jude and discovers the truth he finds it hard to believe, but Jude has helped him in the past and Adel thinks they should take a chance. Adel and Evan make a brilliant couple and the development of their relationship fits well with the circumstances, I also enjoyed the way the story progressed giving us just enough hints as to the direction it’s heading. The gargoyles are all well written and a large percent of them are cute small ones who are fierce protectors, one travels with Jude while the rest are like family to Evan.
The background world building is interesting and we learn a lot early in the book as to the circumstances that we find ourselves in, and it really sets the tone for when we first meet Father Michael. Father Michael is a very creepy character who you just know has his fingers in some unsavory pies and he really is slimy. When we discover the full truth about Father Michael, I have to say it wasn’t that much of a surprise, but it did help to fit in some of the pieces as to what was happening in the wider story.
I recommend this to those who love a world in the future where gargoyles are being awoken, who love a great storyline and characters, danger and startling rescues, and a love that will last.
Jimmy Rafferty and Eddie Molina go way back at the J-Bar ranch. They’ve worked together, bunked together, camped out, and drank together. So how has Jimmy failed to notice that Eddie is gay? Eddie has not failed to notice that his friend has a serious drinking problem, and he’s determined to help Jimmy kick the booze cold turkey.
Taking him up to a snowbound cabin to detox, Eddie is confronted with Jimmy’s fierce denial. But the pains of withdrawal are nothing for Jimmy compared with the heartache of denying his true feelings and his deep longing…for the one man who cares for him more than anyone else on earth
Review: I’m going to admit I read the first chapter after finishing the first book My Cowboy Heart. I was hooked from the get go. I was also in shock when I saw who the book was about. Very pleasantly shocked since I had thought I caught hints from Eddie and I will say when Eddie took Jimmy to detox him, I thought to myself how much I’d like to see what went on there. As if the author read my mind, here it was. Jimmy and Eddie’s story. I was ecstatic. You do not have to read the first book to enjoy this one. I do suggest you do since it was awesome too and once you read the excerpt in the back I’m sure you will rush to get it.
A quick rundown: Jimmy has been having some issues and Eddie has taken it upon himself to dry Jimmy out. Jimmy had always been a heavy drinker, but lately as things changed around the Jbar he had gotten worse and the timing was terrible.
The story started out with a bang. Literally. The first line had me. And dam was it hot… and made me have a few questions about Jimmy. I love the first person view and that it’s from Jimmy as he goes through his forced detox. The story is very well written with lots of heart, emotion and a touch of humour. When Eddie’s friend is introduced, I have to say my heart plummeted. I was like oh no, not another one of those ménages. Well it wasn’t. This was like no rollercoaster ride. Not a lot of ups and downs, just curve after curve. I promise you it’s not predictable. At least for me it wasn’t. Sure, there were a few things I saw coming but I wanted them to come and at times, it was snapped out of my grasp. Did I get the ending I wanted? I’m not gonna tell you. You will have to get the book and see for yourself!
Ihighly recommend this book if you like cowboys, older characters, men with problems, alcoholics, threesomes, hot mansex and a very good heartfelt story with lots of action, emotion and humour. Did I mention the hot mansex and cowboys?
Blurb:“As long as no one asks and they don’t tell.”
First class petty officer Eric Randall is less than thrilled about taking orders to Okinawa. Three long, lonely years on a crappy island, that’s thousands of miles from his daughter? Oh. Yeah. Sign him up. But as long as he’s stuck here, he might as well make the best of it, so he discreetly checks out the local gay scene.
Shane nearly drops his drink when the gorgeous, cocky-looking guy strolls into Palace Habu. He buys him a drink, and before long, they’re making out in a booth. Eric is a straight-to-the-point kind of guy and doesn’t want to play games. Since Eric’s idea of not playing games is getting the hell out of there and going back to one of their apartments, Shane is more than happy to go along with it.
What starts as a scorching-hot one-night stand leaves both of them wanting more until Eric finds out Shane doesn’t just outrank him, he’s an officer. DADT may be repealed, but an officer getting involved with an enlisted man falls under conduct unbecoming.
Still, they can’t resist their mutual desire. There’s no reason anyone has to find out. But secrets have a way of outing themselves.
Warning: Contains two military boys who keep forgetting they’re not supposed to be together. Probably because they never have their uniforms on for any length of time.
The backdrop of this story is the beautifully written Okinawa, brought to life superbly in the words Witt uses as descriptives. I was literally transported by her descriptions of the land, islands and castles. I would close my eyes between paragraphs and I was there at Katsuren Castle with Eric and Shane!
Eric is new to the island and not even remotely excited with his latest tour, having left behind his teenage daughter in the states with his ex-wife for the next three years. He is a career military, enlisted MP and he’s gay. Not necessarily openly gay, but he’s not touring Okinawa waving his rainbow flag either. It doesn’t take him long to begin his search for something, or someone, to help him pass the time.
The first thing Eric see’s when he walks into Palace Habu is the sexy, stranger at the end of the bar. Shane almost drops his drink when he lay’s eyes on Eric. The attraction is overwhelming, immediate and mutual. And what should be a one nightstand leaves both men wanting, no aching, for more. Okinawa is not the largest island on the planet, but it takes weeks before these two happen upon each other again. Sparks are soon flying again as these two trip over each other on their way back to the bedroom, quickly agreeing this should become a habit. Then Shane drops the bomb that he’s an Officer. DADT has been removed, but the long-standing rules against Officers and Enlisted in a relationship still stands. This is one rule not likely to change, not even for this Officer and his gentleman.
Not only do these guys have to deal with being gay in the military and all the sideways glances and hushed whispers that come from their narrow-minded fellow soldiers; but Witt delved even deeper by including the forbidden Officer dating Enlisted taboo. Eric and Shane still manage to skirt the boundaries of what they should and shouldn’t do, neither one willing to admit just how emotionally attached they’ve become to one another. As they learn ways around the rules and explore the wonder that is Okinawa, as well as each other, they skirt dangerously close to breaking a rule that could have devastating consequences for both of them.
I’m not certain what I liked more about this story. Watching the slow building love story between Eric and Shane as lust and fire become want and need; or the enthralling backdrop of Okinawa and the picture of perfection Witt was able to capture in this novel. This was the first book by L.A.Witt that I had the pleasure of reading, and have since read four more. I intend to eventually read all her books. She has an ability to pay as much attention to the background of her story as she does to the characters, but not taking any of the interest away from the characters. The exquisite background just made me that much more eager to turn each page.
Thommie’s Review: 3 1/2 – 4 ♥♥♥♥ Hearts
I keep being surprised by Ms. Witt. Such a peculiar writer, kinda fooled me with this one. I expected a somehow action/adventure story, with a fast beat and with lots of agony, but this is not one. Oh the agony was there or maybe it was angst and frustration, it just was not what I expected. But again I’m running ahead of myself.
This is a love story. I’m not certain if it’s fiction or if it’s real, it felt like the most realistic love story I’ve read, like some kind of biography. Eric is a Petty Officer and his orders are to serve 3 years in Okinawa, where this story takes place. The depression and amount of suffocating feeling that accompany him on his flight to the island are quite heavy (I felt them all while reading it) because that means he’s going to be away from his daughter for 3 whole years. Add to that the time difference conspiring to his inability to video chat with her often and he feels like his career is literally killing him. He expects nothing but misery while he’s in Okinawa, wondering how he’s going to manage not to lose his mind. Yet, against all odds, he’s in for a great surprise. Life always deals our best cards when we least expect it and accompanied by a great deal of awful ones too.
Shane is a Navy Officer and he’s already serving in Okinawa for some time. He’s in for a great surprise the night he sees Eric walk in the club. While Eric is hot, sexy, damn gorgeous, with a vibe that sends shivers through all his body, Shane never expected he’d be the best one-night stand of his damn entire life. But a one-night stand he is and he found himself mentally pounding his head on the wall for not asking his number. The fact that he can’t forget about Eric even after two weeks drives him crazy, how can a man get under his skin in the short hours of just one night?
Their elation when they find each other is beyond description. Yes, this is just hooking up, but damn they are so good together they could get used to that. Unfortunately, after yet another night of bone shattering, mind-blowing, send me to heaven or just let me die sex, they find out each other’s rank, And Hell surrounds them. They are not meant to have a relationship, hell they are not meant to even be friends, the regulations are clear enough, an officer getting involved, even as a simple friend, with an enlisted sailor means Military Court, both of their careers dead and the awful line of “Conduct Unbecoming a Gentleman” on their files. They must stop seeing each other; this is definitely not worth it… right?
And Oh My God, but the two men’s dynamic is absolutely fantastic. Jesus, it makes me wonder how does this author manage to convey it so acutely. Everything, everything in the protagonist’s life, from strolling down the streets to taking each other in bed is fueled with a gigantic shot of electricity that I swear traveled from the book to my body while I read it. Perhaps this exactly why it was such a disappointment for me when the plot suddenly flowed elsewhere. The moment one of the two characters was on his way to do his job or anything else, the flow stopped, the fast and intense read that had my brain spinning slowed down to a dull feeling. If you take off the characters interactions all that remains is a travel guide. Yeah I’m not saying that reading about Okinawa was not fascinating, but damn it, it was so detailed that had me almost sleeping after the adrenalin shot I got from Eric and Shane. It was like those train rides that go slowly for a while, then they pick up tremendous speed, and then they slow down again… If you add the fact that the only action the book got was the one and only time they almost got caught which resulted to them breaking out, it was… Well, it was not what I expected from the blurb.
This is a love story, one that you find on your everyday life, no miracles happening, no extreme baddies that make the protagonist’s life hell while they fight for their true love. This is a great love story between two navy guys that by getting together broke the law. It could happen to the guys next door; it could happen to your brother or cousin; it could even happen to you. If this is the kind of story you’re into, I strongly recommend it, it’ will certainly rattle you with the intensity the feeling reveal in the lines and make you remember your own.
Blurb: Life isn’t meant to be easy, but for Zachary Bennet the last two years have been downright hell. The one shining light in his life, his precious daughter, Hayley. Deciding he needs a clean break, Zack gets a new job in a small town called Leyburn in the hopes they can settle down and live a peaceful life.
Between worry over one brother’s increasingly erratic behavior and constantly walking in on the other two making out with their mates, Simon Holland is ready to pull his hair out. All he’d ever wanted in life was a mate and a family. When his wish is finally answered with Zack’s arrival, Simon finds out first-hand how far hate and bigotry can drive some people. But life wasn’t meant to be easy and Simon would protect what was his to the end.
Review: This book has been re-edited. Toni has such a wonderful way with telling a story. She has such a gift with giving someone characters who they can just fall in love with and want to cheer them all the way. They have the abilities to overcome all the pain and anger from their past and move forward in their life. To be able to fall in love and create a loving family.
Zach is just a sweet, loving, and compassionate werewolf who had a loving childhood. He had met his best friend Sarah in high school. When Sarah got diagnosed with cancer, all she wanted was to be a mother. Zach agreed and became the father of a beautiful daughter Hayley. Two years later, Sarah’s family tried everything they could to take Hayley from Zach. So he moved to Leyburn where he met his mate Simon. Simon has always wanted a mate. He was slowly falling in love with Zach and was already in love with his new daughter Hayley. Simon is loving, kind, gentle and very protective. Simon will give everything in him to protect his mate and daughter. The sex is passionate, hot, and very tender, well most of the time. There are times when it is downright hot, fast and rough, just enough to set the sheets on fire.
This story has the perfect amount of danger, excitement, adventure, and kidnapping. I love how the characters can turn the misfortune and pain into compassion, empathy, and loyalty. I love to lose myself into stories when the problems of life get too hard to overcome. I especially love it when it involves two very hot and sexy men who just happen to be able to turn into wolves. This story shows you also what sometimes happen when a love one comes out. The hatred and bigotry that is shown and how the right people can make those who are full of hate disappear. It shows that with acceptance and love that it is possible to have a happy and full life with those you love. When this story first came out it was one of my favorites and since Toni added more to it, just makes it better. I am so glad to have this story in my library so that I can read it over and over. I can’t wait for the next story to come out. I would recommend starting with book one and buying the whole series because you won’t be disappointed.
Blurb: Rich kid playboy Logan Sabourin has long been in love with his best friend. He’s learned to keep his game face on and smile, despite wanting to be Ryan Mora’s submissive in the worst way. He can’t be with Ryan the way he wishes, so when Ryan’s birthday rolls around, Logan buys his friend a fantasy. A submissive for the night.
Ryan Mora agrees to the elaborate gift his best friend gives him, only if Logan joins in. Lucky for them, his one night submissive, Cassidy James, is all for it. What started as Logan and Ryan sharing Cassidy turns into something deeper as a whipping scene reveals Logan’s submissive side. Soon Ryan is entertaining the prospect of having more with both men. But when morning comes, and Cassidy and Logan are nowhere to be found, it’s up to Ryan to turn their one night fantasy into reality.
Be Warned: ménage sex (MMM), m/m sex, BDSM, flogging, rimming, and double anal penetration.
Review: This is your basic, fulfil a fantasy story. Logan has gotten his best friend Ryan a special birthday gift and is feeling a little blue. There are hints to a secret, but it’s pretty obvious what that secret is. Having said this, I will say this is a well-written story. It’s very straightforward. Descriptions come in small doses and don’t take away from the story. I did enjoy the story quite a bit.
There were things I didn’t quite get like the double penetration scene. In my opinion, it should have been Cassidy on the receiving end of that.
If you are looking for a very hot ménage, light BDSM, friends to lovers’ story this is for you!
Blurb:Navy SEAL Simon Morrison came home broken. But quilter Tate Stevens is slowly healing him. If only Simon’s secret didn’t endanger them both. Tate… I fell in love with a man I didn’t understand. You know how that is? Simon Morrison has long silver blond hair in a ragged ponytail and blue eyes more alive than I’ve ever seen, like he’s walked with death so everything else has burned away. He’s a warrior who came back broken, who hides in the shadows. And there’s something dangerous about him, but I didn’t understand until the night I ran after him and they were waiting—the other wolves. They tore into me and I died. My name is Tate Stevens and I died but something keeps me here. I can’t leave my warrior behind, no matter how much it hurts or how whatever it is I am becoming confuses me.
Simon… I came back from Afghanistan with one goal, to find a place to die. But slowly, watching Tate working on his art quilts, it got so it didn’t hurt so much. I felt the colors coming back. He is my light. He is my heart. They tried to take him away from me while I screamed his name. And now he thinks he’s a monster. He is so alone. I have to find a way to bring him back to his light…
Review: This is book seven in the series but stands alone just fine I will warn you that you will want to go get the last three so get your credit cards handy.
Simon is a shifter and has been in Afghanistan and came back scarred and wanting to die. He lives in the hills alone having PTSD and not liking to be around people. One day by the stream in wolf form Tate notices him yet doesn’t act afraid. He watches Tate worried that something may happen to him so far from town in the woods. The young man and his quilting mesmerize him, no longer wanting to die but knowing that he can never be in Tate’s life.
Tate is a recluse himself. He came for LA to escape life, just write his books, and work on his quilts. He dreams of a man that can understand him for what he is and accept him for more than just sex.
I loved, loved, and loved this book. These uncommon cowboys are awesome! I love how some of the characters are shifters and the shifter element plays a little in the book but doesn’t overshadow the entire story. I also like the fact none of these men are perfect. Each one is damaged in some way and finds the perfect someone to compliment them and make them whole again. I also like that it never comes easy, and the men don’t really change they just heal.
I loved Simon. He is sexy in his own way. I really loved Tate. He may be small but he knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to be himself. I loved that he is a quilter and a true artist. I also liked how the other characters from the past books are brought in with just enough info you don’t get confused. Now let’s talk about twists. There are some big twists in here. I gasped, I cried and I sighed!
I highly recommend this book if you like shifters, cowboys, twists, broken men and some hot loving mansex.
Blurb: In 1724, Thomas Newton is cast out of his home by his aristocratic father. Desperate to make a new life for himself, he heads to London. Through a string of intimate encounters, he enters the underground world of male-male desire.
Soon enough, Thomas meets Margaret Clap, who runs one of the male brothels. Without a child of her own, “Mother Clap” finds herself drawn to Thomas. She offers him a place in her house, but also a place in her heart.
Thomas’s homecoming is too brief. The Society for the Reformation of Manners, a group of Christian zealots, begins raiding the Molly houses. They plan to force the arrest, conviction, and execution of any man guilty of “crimes against nature.”
When Margaret Clap’s house is raided and Margaret herself is arrested, Thomas has to make the most difficult decision of his still young life, one that could destroy everyone around him in a desperate effort to save them.
Review: This book really does define historical erotica. The more I read about it, the more I wished the book would remain strong. There were a few select moments the story did start to flop but the author managed to bring it right back on track. I couldn’t get enough of the history around it. As an avid historical reader, I found myself interested in the story behind it. The plot is solid and the characters have their moments of flatness. But I found the book overall to be pretty smooth despite the few bumps.
I would recommend this to anyone that wants to read the way erotica should be written every now and then.
Just across the river from New Orleans, people cook, eat, ply their trades, pursue their hobbies, and live out their lives in the insulated bubble of Archimedes Street, lined with centuries-old live oaks. Honoria Abbott and Rita Simmons, Redemptorist professors and neighbors, are the salty matriarchs who rule the roost in this small fiefdom. Connoisseurs of M/M romance and aspiring matchmakers, they hatch a plot to awaken two of Honoria’s students to each other’s charms. The first step is to make Dutch and Flip roommates in Rita’s shotgun-double apartment.
Dutch Abbott, a coddled, narcissistic rich boy, is drawn to the down-to-earth Flip, a transfer student with good looks and a pugnacious attitude. Secure in his self-esteem, Flip Abbott starts to question everything he ever believed about himself after he meets the arrogant but undeniably brilliant Dutch.
Little do Honoria and Rita know that their matchmaking will swirl Archimedes Street into the eye of a domestic hurricane, complete with lost cats, teenage longing, shrewd trading of sexual favors, fierce culinary competition, and environmental activism sprinkled with a little white magic.
Review: I found this book to be quite intriguing. The plot was very interesting. The novel actually reminded me of Downtown Abbey and the drama soap operas we find on television when they are mixed together.
This book just got more and more interesting. The more I read, the more I wanted to know about them all. The beauty of it is how one boy Flip Abbott manages to find out how things work and at the same time he challenges every aspect of what he knows. The more he faces, the more he questions. And it ends up being that much more addictive for the reader.
If you like, society novels, humor, and the life of those that can afford to live in such a life, and then I would recommend it.
Blurb: A series of murders in New York City has stymied the police and FBI alike, and they suspect the culprit is a single killer sending an indecipherable message. But when the two federal agents assigned to the investigation are taken out, the FBI takes a more personal interest in the case.
Special Agent Ty Grady is pulled out of undercover work after his case blows up in his face. He’s cocky, abrasive, and indisputably, the best at what he does. But when he’s paired with Special Agent Zane Garrett, its hate at first sight. Garrett is the perfect image of an agent: serious, sober, and focused, which makes their partnership a classic cliché: total opposites, good cop-bad cop, the odd couple. They both know immediately that their partnership will pose more of an obstacle than the lack of evidence left by the murderer.
Practically before their special assignment starts, the murderer strikes again this time at them. Now on the run, trying to track down a man who has focused on killing his pursuers, Grady and Garrett will have to figure out how to work together before they become two more notches in the murderer’s knife.
Review: The story opens with the reader in the mind of the killer and his next victim. There is mention of her liking his shiny badge, so when the agents come in and take over, you aren’t surprised that they suspect one of their own. This serial killer is meticulous and precise. And in the wake of his killing spree, a strained love story blooms.
Special Agent Tyler Grady (Ty) is pulled off his undercover op after things go seriously wrong. Pulled into his commanders office, assigned a new case and a new partner are not Ty’s ideas of fun. And then he meets the pristine agent brought over from Psy Ops, Zane Garrett, and doesn’t think his day could get any worse.
Zane Garrett has had one mess up after another during his time in the bureau. A recovering alcoholic, still bitter from his wife’s death five years ago and generally does not play well with others. So he’s never had a partner to deal with, until now. Of course, he would get the most arrogant, foul-mouthed, sexy FBI agent with mood swings from hell. Oh yes, I can smell the lust brewing a mile away!
Trying hard to focus on the case and ignore their immediate and overwhelming dislike for each other, coupled with an intense and underlying attraction, they head to New York to take down a killer. Little do they know said killer is ready and waiting, for them. Ty and Zane quickly realize they are dealing with either a cop or a fellow agent gone bad, who has a penchant for Poe novels. Tempers flare and passion ignites one night when they damn near kill each other in an alley, only to end up ravishing each other later in the shower. Fore play! And, they are versatile, YES!!
The clock is ticking with Ty and Zane trying to track down the killer before he claims his next victim, or successfully claims one of them. If they can survive this chaotic attraction that they have for one another, will they survive the killer that is hot on their trail and bound and determined to make them his next victims? They will have to do the one thing they are no good at, trust each other.
The mystery and suspense of the psychotic serial killer who turns out the be the LAST person you would have suspected almost overshadowed the relationship of the would be lovers, for me at least. I absolutely loved that there was this insane story going on parallel to Ty and Zane first trying to outdo each other and then trying to out screw each other. They grow closer and gain a mutual respect for each other while they fight for their lives. By the end of the book, the reader will know exactly where men stand, because you go back and forth in their minds while reading. The question is, will they tell each other?
The sex isn’t an overabundance in this novel, but it is overwhelming. They definitely make do with the time they find. But that’s not really, what this story is about. The is an action packed, suspenseful, murder mystery with a side dish of hot sexy alpha males that have to find a balance in order to have a working partnership. Highly recommend this series, off to start the next book!
Oh, yes, narration. Not too shabby actually. The first two audios are narrated by Sawyer Allerde. He changed his tone for different characters and managed to pull of the gruffy, pissed off Ty pretty damn well; along with the more refined and pristine Zane. I do enjoy listening more when a narrator actual narrates the story and changes his nuances along with the urgencies of the scene. Good job.
*I received a copy of this audio book in exchange for an honest review from Dreamspinner Press for MM Good Book Reviews*
Blurb: Lenny’s life in the small village of Waldau hasn’t changed in years.
Now it’s time to make a change: a new life, a new city, and a chance to forget his cousin Julien–the boy he . . . well, the boy who left him behind.
But just as Lenny’s future looks like it’s becoming reality, Julien returns, bringing with him all the sweet, wonderful, and painful memories of their past.
Review: It took me a long time to get into this story. It kept going back and forth between the past and the present. I have read other books that go back and forth but not as much as this one did. I loved all the characters in the story but I think I would have liked it much more had it started in the past and worked its way to the present. It was a good story, don’t get me wrong, but I would have enjoyed it more had it been done a little differently. I was rooting for Lenny and Julien the entire time and knew about Ben’s crush before it was revealed 🙂
Blurb: Rafael Schiller, vampire and sexual god without peer, believes himself the top of the food chain, until a bizarre creature feeding in an alley scares the deathless hell out of him.
Rafael Schiller’s had a long road and he’s forgotten the meaning of several human words along the way. Commitment? Relationship? Love, for all the gods’ sakes? What does a vampire need those for? He’s completely content treating his long string of one-off lovers as midnight snacks. He makes it good for them and has no reason for guilt or grief. Some nights still induce an odd, hollow ache, but he can just drown it in the next conquest. Master of his universe, he lives without a care…until he encounters a bizarre creature feeding in an alley.
It’s caught his scent, and now that it’s hunting him, Rafael remembers a word from his childhood. Krsnik—the hunters, the monsters who feed on the blood of vampires. He could run, but he’d be running forever, and that would sure as hell take the fun out of life. Time to figure out what the creature really is, what can defeat it, and why he feels so drawn to it
Reader Advisory: This story has been previously released as part of the 50s Mixed Tape anthology by Totally Bound.
Review: Rafael is a vampire and has become so use to being the top of the food chain, the hunter that now being the hunted is quite new to him. Part of him fears the thing that is eating vampires, part of him is intrigued.
Oh, wow! This one had it all. There are vampires, death angels, hunters, and a complicated but slightly sweet love story. There is lots of action from the beginning and twists galore. What more can I say, nail-biting, frightening, sexy, and fabulous. I would love a full-length story on this one!
I highly recommend this story for a cold winter’s night to snuggle up with. It’s full of a little bit of everything. If you like, 50’s songs, vampires, death angels, twist and turn galore, nail-biting suspense and some fairly hot mansex this is for you!
Blurb: Floyd has trouble staying interested in men, but meeting Gavin changes everything. Until Floyd learns his boss is dating Gavin. Now Floyd wants him even more.
Floyd Burland tends bar at Dudebaker’s, one of the city’s hottest nightspots. He’s something of a serial dater, but nowhere near as bad as his boss, club owner Shawn Frost is. Floyd is trying to figure a way out of an entanglement with Trevor, a Dudebaker’s bus boy, when Gavin Hunt steps into his life. Handsome, outgoing, and just Floyd’s type, Gavin is there to talk with Shawn about a singing gig.
On a moonlit night, Floyd discovers Gavin in the club’s parking lot with a car that won’t start. He walks Gavin home and, during their conversation, Floyd realises he could very easily fall in love with the man. Later, however, Shawn begins to brag that he and Gavin are dating, and Floyd, in a rash moment of jealousy, kisses Trevor the bus boy right in front of Gavin. Soon everyone is pointing fingers and demanding answers, and before Floyd can even try to fix things between him and Gavin, the singer leaves town to pursue his dream of cutting an album.
Will Floyd follow his own dream and pursue Gavin in an effort to win him back? Will Gavin even give him the time of day if Floyd shows up at his door?
Reader Advisory: This story has been previously released as part of the 50s Mixed Tape anthology by Totally Bound Publishing.
Review: Floyd is a bartender at a popular hotspot and quite the man’s ma. He pretty much is a player and flirt and one of the bus boys has taken his flirting too seriously. Gavin comes in to talk to the owner Shawn who is a worse player than Floyd is. Floyd finds himself attracted to Gavin in a way he never has been before but doesn’t want to get involved in one of Shawn’s trysts.
I really liked this story. I found all the characters intriguing and interesting, especially Gavin. I do wish there had been more about Shawn and Gavin and Floyd’s jealousy. I did find the story very heartfelt and sweet. A player that finally meets his match and a man who knows what he wants but thinks he is dating someone else. Yes, it’s very complicated and twisted emotionally but with a warm feel good ending.
If you like 50’s songs, players, bartenders, club-owners and musicians this is for you!
Blurb: There was no smoking gun. No horrible family secret behind why I left. No reason at all for me, at nineteen, to leave for New York, ready for anything life had to offer—especially if it involved certain proclivities. In the time required to walk to Times Square from the Port Authority Terminal, my naiveté was wiped away. I witnessed a prostitute performing her nightly hustle. In the days to follow, I was mugged twice, ripped off while trying to purchase pot, and beaten to the point of soiling myself. But a chance encounter with a young hustler led to a meeting with Mr. B, mob-connected owner of multiple clubs on Times Square, all under fire from a new mayor embarking on an anti-sleaze campaign directed squarely at The Deuce.
I spent the next twenty years of my life coming of age on the streets, but now, as I speed south across the countryside, heading for my native New Orleans and a dying sister, I make a pact to leave New York in New York, only to find coming home proves harder than coming out.
Review: This book was phenomenal. Everything from how the characters are formed to the strong plotline for the novel. I couldn’t get enough of it. Jeni Decker hit it out of the ballpark. I had a good feeling about this book from the moment I started reading the book. I knew this book was going to be interesting. When the book ended, I wished it hadn’t. I couldn’t get over just how great it was.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone that wants to read a good solid novel.

Blurb: Enforcer Dave Pender blows a hit, no thanks to an unknown assailant. As a result, his boss returns the favor and puts out a hit on him. On the run, he ends up in a small city. There he meets the owner of Billy’s bar, who offers him a job as a bouncer and a place to stay in one of his rundown apartment buildings.
Believing he’s found a safe place to go to ground, Dave meets a young musician who needs his help.
Then the stranger who foiled his hit reappears and things take a strange twist that turns Dave’s world upside-down.
Review: (Awesome cover) Dave Pender is an enforcer for a mob. He is sent on a mission to take down an opposing mobs man and Dave is sure it’s more to it than that since the mod man’s wife and partner isn’t in on it. He is pretty sure there is some hanky panky going on there and the hit isn’t just a sing to the other mob but the wife also. As he is about to take out the man, something strange happens and he is stopped, forcing him to go on the run.
I loved this book! Though about halfway through I figured out what was going on with the stranger that kept appearing it was still very fun and twisty and the ending was really a surprise.
I love how this author makes his stories so mysterious and intriguing, yet sweet, and charming too. However, there is lots of action and hints of violence there is not any blood and gore etc.
So if you’re looking for a story that is fun to read, interesting and intriguing with some twists and turns, no real sex, and a very surprising ending this is for you.
Blurb:Two men are brought together by a green pirate parrot at a Christmas work function. One is a divorced highflying lawyer with a baby and the other is an acrobatic pirate performer. The link? They were best friends until they were nine and Luka’s family moved away. Luka, the pirate, just got out of a relationship and needs a place to crash, and Peter is sleep-deprived and desperate not to lose Luka again. The problem? Luka is gay and Peter is straight. Against the odds, they come together and discover family isn’t made by blood but love. Can Christmas spirit and the love of family help them overcome their differences, rekindle the childish love they shared when they were young, and let it grow into something more?
Review: Two little boys are best friends. They are separated by the wrongdoing of a bad parent. Twenty years later, they meet again and what ended as simple childhood friendship is now rekindled in passion. Peter, now a successful businessman divorcee is simply trying to live each day, be a good parent to his son, and dodge the unwanted attention of his assistant. Luka is a performer who checks all of Peter’s never before known buttons on the sexy meter. The two men fall instantly back into the patterns of their childhood friendship.
There are a lot of insta’s going on in this story. Peter insta-invites Luka to move into his house with him. Peter insta-ntly moves from straight to being attracted to a man. There is insta attraction between Luka and Peter. There is insta-adoration between Luka and his namesake Loukas, Peter’s infant son. Then there is the insta-love that the men feel for each other.
The story moves from zero to sixty in about sixty seconds. However, the three men are very adorable as a family and so the reader will suspend their disbelief to believe in the fairy tale and the happily ever after.

It has wonderful characters that you cheer on, their world you want to dwell in, a place to call home. This has three wonderful stories, which involves wolves, bears, and foxes. Six very sexy men all looking for the same thing love. I hope you enjoy them. Here is more about each one and their own review.
Devil Dogs and Bad Wolf ♥♥♥♥♥ 4.5 Hearts
I always love marines and when you throw in one hell of a werewolf, you have a great read.
When trying to prove that werewolves do not exist, it ends up having Seth camping in Kentucky. A marine a bit terrified a funny sight of wild animals. It was fun to hear about. What was unexpected though was one very big grizzly bear. A very pissed off bear attacks for no reason, ends up with a fight between the bear and a wolf. A wolf who is in fact a werewolf. One very sexy werewolf named Asa.
Seth was on leave from the Marine’s trying to decide if he wants to stay in or get out. He loved the Marines but he wondered what he truly wanted to do. So camping to prove his brother wrong was one way to get out of the house and just think. He is sexy as hell, funny, compassionate, and down to home guy. He never really thought about having a boyfriend or anything more than what he would do with his life. However coming across Asa and being injured has left him confused and horny as hell.
Asa on the other hand is a werewolf who didn’t believe in true life mates till he came across Seth. Trying to keep Seth alive and his feelings at bay were two of the hardest things to do, but first he had to get his mate to feel the same thing. Asa is a powerful and kind alpha of his pack. He is loved by all and is one hell of a good alpha. Now he just had to come to terms that mates really do exist. And he had one hell of a sexy mate to love.
I loved how both characters got along from the start, how they always looked for the other one and wanted them with them. The sex between them is gentle, caring and loving, well till Seth heals because there is just a hint of what is to come. It is full of passion and love. I would recommend this to anyone who loved to hear about a military man and a werewolf, two very hot and sexy men, great sex and all together fantastic life ahead of them. I really do hope that there are more of these types of story from Kendall because I will definitely be buying more of her stories.
The Big Bad Bear ♥♥♥♥♥4 Hearts
Well now, this book tops all books for being funny. The big bad grizzly turns out to be Dov and he had a really good reason for attacking Seth. Not really, a good reason but a reason nonetheless.
Dov had started out on a bike when he crashed into the woods. After suffering a massive head injury, he is stuck in his grizzly bear form. Confused, thinking like a bear his thoughts made him think that Seth was invading his home. After realizing that Seth and the wolf were not intending harm but the wolf keeping Seth safe, he runs off. Confused and stuck in bear form has him running quite awhile before taking refuge at the bank of the river.
Kane, beta to Asa is sent to look for the bear and to figure out what has happened. What he comes across though is his mate. A mate that has no real idea what is going on and stuck in his animal form. Knowing the dangers that could happen if he doesn’t get Dov to shift back to human form, he pushes Dov. Thankfully, it worked, but now he has a very big mate who definitely wants to mate him. Funny as hell is what it is. Both powerful in their own way they have a lot of things to overcome.
I loved this book but I needed more to this one. I did laugh at some good parts of it. I wish it had been longer though, because I want to see Asa’s reaction when Kane brings Dov to meet his alpha. I want to know how they all react to each other and I want to know more about Dov’s motorcycle accident. Was it an accident or was it more….I would recommend this book to anyone who loves two very sexy men who can’t keep their hands off of each other, bear shifters and werewolves, and great sex.
Shifty Fox Shenanigans ♥♥♥♥4 Hearts
Simon is in for a surprise of his life in more way then one. He was the nurse who had taken care of Seth when he was hurt by the Grizzly Bear who turned out to be Dov. He is a funny character what with his crazy attitude, clumsy ways and just completely loveable. You can’t help but fall in love with him. It turns out he is a very cute fox shifter. He just didn’t know it.
Josiah is the head shrink that works for the hospital and is also an omega wolf. The low man on the pole so to speak. When Simon falls into his lap, literally by accident he finds his mate. Now all he has to do is get the courage up to ask him out. He had been gone quite awhile from the pack so things were a bit different then they had been in the beginning. For one Asa was now alpha and he was mated now.
This story had me laughing my ass off throughout the story. I would definitely be recommending this story to anyone who loves sexy characters and a multitude of different shape shifters. Now in my reviews I stated I wish there was more to it…Well there is a surprise at the end just for you. It takes the stories and combines them in the end. It is an amazing anthology one that I hope I will read more than once. I also will be checking Kendall, Jambrea and Cherie’s book for future reads. Their gifts of storytelling give you a wonderful world to lose yourself into when times get tough. I hope you enjoy this great story.
