Blurb: Prince Charming is the man next door.

Small-town business owner Jason Brewster has big dreams: world travel, adventure, and, most of all, a passionate romance worthy of a fairy tale. But he doesn’t believe fantasies can come true…. Until Adam moves in next door. He’s handsome, cultured, European, and, best of all, in-terested in Jason. It’s like something out of the stories Jason loves.

But Adam – whose real name is Amadeo Montefalcone – has a secret. He’s royalty, prince of the small country of Monterosia. Only he doesn’t want to rule, and especially doesn’t want the love-less marriage waiting for him at home. So he ran away in search of true love. With a man. And with Jason, he finds it. But Adam can’t run forever. The truth will come out. If Jason can forgive Adam’s deception, they might find their happily ever after.

Review: The Nerd and The Prince by BG Thomas a proper fairy tale, royal romance type story that is probably more than a few people’s guilty pleasure. BG Thomas is a relatively new author to me, so I’ve been keen to read or listen to more. The story itself is a lot of fun and was enhanced by the narration by Seb Yarrick.

I checked my Audible library and was shocked to realise that this was only the second book I’ve heard Seb Yarrick perform. I wrote in a previous review that I’ve heard him before, but I think I must be mixing him up with another narrator who does good European and English accent. Oops. My bad. Sorry. Nonetheless, this does not take away from the fact that I feel that Seb Yarrick is a wonderful narrator, his performance injects the right emotion into the story and characters, and really sets the tone well for the whole book. I’m looking forward to more performances by Yarrick in the future.

The story, overall, is a lot of fun and I personally feel that it is a very refreshing change from the usual modern fairy tale royal romances. Unlike some other stories, he did the drama and secret keeping thing without making it explode to provide more, and probably, unnecessary drama. The Prince knew he was falling in love and that he had to tell his nerd the truth and I liked how this all went down.

The story is simple enough. Prince Amadeo Montefalcone of Monterosia, a relatively unknown European principality, decides to run away so he can live a normal life, at least for a little, as an out gay man instead on being forced into marriage with a woman. The principality itself is fictional, but the town that Amadeo tell people he is from, Trieste, is near the Italian/Slovenian border. He runs away to small town America and becomes Adam, a cultured Italian man looking to experience a bit of the US. Then Adam meets his neighbor, the owner of a small book store and café/diner, who dreams of one day travelling the world and falling head over heals for his prince charming. The two guys have chemistry, there is no doubt of that, but there is, naturally, the obstacle of the whole gay prince thing and said prince not telling anyone his real identity as he falls in love.

The Nerd and the Prince is a totally sweet and fluffy story. It is a true romantic story with a lot of heart and feeling. I can’t wait to see what else BG Thomas has in store for us in this series.

Blurb: Ned Balding used to be a decent man—until the stress of seemingly countless responsibilities changes him, and he becomes cold and driven—the kind of man who considers firing an employee days before Christmas. The kind of man who kicks a dog…. But Ned’s transgressions haven’t gone unseen. A Salvation Army Santa witnesses his misdeeds and decides Ned needs to be taught a lesson.

When Ned wakes up the next morning, he’s stunned to discover he’s been transformed into a dog.

In the past year, Jake Carrara has lost his mother, a lover… even his dog. His boss came close to firing him just before the holidays. He isn’t sure he’s ready for another pet when he’s asked to foster a dog, but Jake’s good heart won’t let him refuse. Little does he know, this isn’t just any dog.

Through a twist of fate, two people with little reason to be friends might teach each other to rediscover the good—and the love—in life.

Review: Sometimes the Best Presents Can’t Be Wrapped is a quirky holiday romance tale that is very much in the realm of urban fantasy by BG Thomas. I haven’t read too much of BG Thomas, but I have their books in the past to be quite hit and miss, in terms of me being able to get into the story and connecting to the characters. Needless to say, I was a little concerned but it was the blurb that won me over.

Essentially, this novella is a story that has echoes of the Dickens story of Ebenezer Scrooge. However, when you read the story, instead of thinking of the traditional story by Dickens himself, I was able to relate it more to the modern retelling a la the movie Scrooged. You know the one, that’s the movie with Bill Murray. Which then led me to decide that this is more of a mix of the two Bill Murray movies Scrooged and Groundhog Day. And now I think of it the whole transformation of horrid character to teach him a lesson is very Beauty and Beast too. There you go, numerous pop culture references, make of them what you will.

I amazed and blown away by how much I loved this story.

Ned Balding is the Scrooge-type character of the story. He used to be a good man who a lot of people loved, including his employees. But years of stress and shouldering too many burdens (which he really should have shared in the first place), has made him into a bitter man. In fact, he almost fires his employee Jake Carrara for having flimsy reasons for taking time off. (I think that some of this might be an American thing so I found the treatment by Ned quite illegal, seriously he’d be open for a court case in Australia. But then again I have the luxury sick leave, roster days off and 20 days recreational leave a year, so I feel that some of this is kind of lost on me, yet it does a fantastic job into making Ned an ogre).

To put it nicely, Ned is such a Grumpy Gus he angers the wrong spirit or entity (in the guise of a Salvation Army Santa) that he is turned into a dog to teach him a lesson of love and compassion.

Jake on the other hand is a sweetie. He has a heart of gold and will help anyone, human or animal, with his limited resources. He’s recently lost his beloved dog and when he receives a phone call of a dog in desperate need of a foster home (lest the poor animal be put down) he reluctantly answers the call. In fact, the dog seems like it understands every word he says. Jake bears his soul to the creature, who is actually Ned and Ned’s path to love and redemption begins. Ned learns of Jake’s feelings towards him through Jake’s chatter, which isn’t all flattering but there is a chance for a lot more.

This is a really sweet romance. Mind you for most of the book Ned is a dog, we get to really take time getting to Jake and Ned, although it’s questionable how much they know each other. Despite their limited time together as humans the guys have a fabulous connection. Overall, this was fun and enjoyable. If you like any of the literary or movie references I’ve already mentioned, love dogs and love a good dose of the holiday spirit then I think you’d love to read this book.

Getting His Man

(Getting His Man 01 / Dreamspun Desires 48)
by

B.G. Thomas

A love story worthy of an old movie… with a new twist.

Artie needs a hero, a man like those he’s always revered in Golden Age films. His drug-dealing jerk of a roommate got him arrested, and since his savior isn’t likely to sweep in and save the day, Artie calls a bail bondsman.

August has always imagined himself a hero from a black-and-white movie, but he’s never found a man willing to let him play that role—at least not until he gets the call from Artie.

Both of their dreams might come true, but not before August must use his skills as a bounty hunter as well as a bondsman. Artie is on the run for his life, and August must protect him and help him clear his name. Only then can they both finally get their man.

Review: In Wade’s younger life, he had never encountered any other gay men, and when he was on vacation, he met this guy that completely rocked his world, both in and out of the bedroom, but also kept him as a dirty little secret, and I mean dirty, because, it was as if he was locked in and living in a dungeon. As per his ex’s orders, he couldn’t have any friends, he was told where to go, and who he couldn’t talk to, and worst of all, where he should live.

Now, Wade is back in the same cottage, where he met his ex, and he’s contemplating suicide, because he can’t live without his lover. Even though, he found out that his ex was married and to a woman.  The cottage next door is now occupied by Kent, who is also mourning the loss of his lover. He’s also interested in Wade, and wants to draw him out of his depression, and to show him that there’s a lot more in life to live for. Like a relationship with him. Will Wade allow Kent into his life, and despite the age difference, allow his to show him what the world, and him have to offer?

A first for me reading from this author, and he did a good job on this story. However, if I was there, I would’ve given Wade a slap on the side of his face and tell him to “snap the heck out of this funk” and start living your life.

This is a well written story, and I would recommend to anyone that is interested in reading it.

Then one night, to his surprise, Curtis Hansen buys him a beer, and Bryan has no doubt this is the real thing. Curtis is a rugged, gorgeous man who is every bit a cowboy. He even owns his own ranch. What follows is about the most amazing night of Bryan’s young life.

But can they move beyond a night of incredible sex when Bryan admits to Curtis that the only horse he’s ever ridden was a birthday party pony? And that he’s nothing but a poser himself? Maybe, just maybe, Curtis can find the real cowboy inside Bryan, and they can ride off into the sunset together!

The path to happiness starts with acceptance, and sometimes the chance for a bright, loving future means letting go of the past.

All his life, Neil Baxter has buried a large part of himself—the part that’s attracted to other men. He married a woman and denied that side of him existed. And he plans to keep right on pretending to be straight after his beloved wife has passed away.

To help him deal with his grief, Neil’s sister-in-law convinces him to vacation at a dude ranch. There, Neil meets Cole Thompson, a young, gorgeous, unabashedly gay wrangler—who is unabashedly attracted to Neil. And try as he might, Neil cannot deny he feels the same way. But desire soon becomes something more profound as the two men get to know each other. Cole is much more than a sexy cowboy: he’s kind, spiritual, and intelligent. In fact, he’s perfect for Neil… except he’s a man, and Neil isn’t ready to let go of a lifetime of denial. If he cannot find the courage to be true to himself, he might let something wonderful slip through his fingers.

Review:  These two authors have given us a treat tonight.  I have been reading quite a bit of stories for this calendar this past week and was getting use to the short stories that were offered.  They were cute but way too short to get more than just a taste, however B.G. Thomas and Noah Willoughby have given us a novella that will brighten your days and make you smile.

Chandler is a very wealthy young man who doesn’t appreciate the smaller things in life.  His mother is pushing him to take more interest in their company but also wants him to be with a woman.  So after pushing him, his assistant makes him an offer he can’t refuse.  A way out for the holidays.  He just hadn’t expected it to be in such a small apartment in Hawaii.  He was supposed to be hiding from his family but he just hadn’t expected it to be so drab.  Stuck in an elevator however gives him the best gift.  It gives him a sexy maintenance man.

Micah has lived his whole life in Hawaii, never even seen the rest of the United States.  He has a heart of gold and his heart is standing right in front of him.  Now for the whole story you are just going to have to read this cute story.  It will brighten your day, trust me.

I have enjoyed reading this story and can guarantee that it will become a favorite among the holidays for me.  It shows a man who has everything, that he is indeed missing something perfect.  That Christmas is not for receiving but for giving.  I had a blast reading this and I can guarantee that you will too.

(Anthology)

On June 26, 2015, the Supreme Court of the United States made a monumental decision, and at long last, marriage equality became the law of the land. That ruling made history, and now gay and lesbian Americans will grow up in a country where they will never be denied the right to marry the person they love.

But what about the gay men who waited and wondered all of their lives if the day would ever come when they could stand beside the person they love and say “I do”?

Here, four accomplished authors—married gay men—offer their take on that question as they explore same-sex relationships, love, and matrimony. Men who thought legal marriage was aright they would never have. Men who, unbelievably, now stand legally joined with the men they love. With this book, they share the magic and excitement of dreams that came true—in tales of fantasy and romance with a dose of their personal experiences in the mix.

To commemorate the anniversary of full marriage equality in the US, this anthology celebrates the idea of marriage itself—and the universal truth of it that applies to us all, gay or straight.

Someday, by B.G. Thomas

Lucas Arrowood is walking to school on his first day of kindergarten when he meets Dalton Churchill—a boy who stops and helps him tie his shoe. He knows from that moment he is going to marry that boy one day.  “Boys can’t marry other boys,” his mother explains, but that doesn’t stop Lucas. He knows what he wants.

He and Dalton become best friends—and then, no matter how much he resists, Dalton falls in love with Lucas. Dalton’s very conservative family can’t accept that their boy loves another boy, but finally Dalton stands up for love and for Lucas. Still, he declares he won’t marry Lucas until it is legal everywhere. He hates the “Commitment Ceremonies” gay men have. They aren’t the real thing. Why bother?

So Lucas waits for his day. The day same-sex marriage finally becomes legal and he can be joined forever with the love of his life.

Flames, by J. Scott Coatsworth

Alex and Gio had a big fight, and Alex ran away. Then a fire at home destroyed the life they had built together, and threatened to take Gio away from him.

Alex had always thought love was enough to keep them together. Why did they need wedding rings or legal certificates? But now, with Gio lost in a coma, his mother has banished Alex from his side.

What if Alex’s voice is the only thing that can bring Gio back from the brink? Their memories are all Gio has left, and the urge to just let go is getting stronger.

Still, nothing can keep Alex from Gio’s side. If it’s against the rules, he’ll break them. In stolen moments alone together, Alex fights to bring him back, one memory at a time.

Review: Warning…Have some tissue handy.

There’s something to be said for maturity and experience, whether it’s a second chance at love, a May/December romance, or finding a soul mate later in life. These stories prove that it’s never too late for new love.
There’s something to be said for maturity and experience, whether it’s a second chance at love, a May/December romance, or finding a soul mate later in life. These stories prove that it’s never too late for new love.

This is such a beautiful story first of loss. Christopher has lost his fist live in boyfriend but realizes it’s for the best. Then he comes home a week after Graham has moved out and finds his beloved dog Frost gone. He searches and searches to no avail.

Doyle has just lost his husband of over twenty years and something leads him to the local pet shop. He is about to leave when the lady introduces him to a poor dog about to die from grief. It won’t respond to her or her husband. It won’t eat or drink. But it immediately responds to Doyle.

This story starts out sad and tragic, has a magical note (not real magic but the sense of the dog drawing two lost souls together), then becomes sweet and romantic.

If you are a pet lover, like sweet charming romance, May/December relationships and an all over fun, beautiful, short story this is for you!

As an added bonus if you are B.G. Thomas fan, you will recognize Doyle and Christopher from Spring Fling.

Blurb: Asher Eisenberg is a brilliant actor, destined for fame and fortune. But a traumatic incident in his past has caused him to reject his Jewish heritage and hide from everyone behind walls of arrogance and selfishness, and he blurs his loneliness with a lot of sex and alcohol. When he meets Peniamina Faamausili, however, he strangely can’t stop thinking about the young man.

Peni is struggling with his sexuality, the Mormonism he was raised in, and the Samoan heritage that calls to him. He longs to receive the pe’a—the traditional Samoan tattoos– and learn more of his people’s ways. He has no interest in a man like Asher, who appears to use men and put them aside and whose drinking can’t help but remind him of the drunk driver who killed his father. But he can’t deny his attraction to Asher and finally agrees to a date if Asher can go thirty days without a drink.

Asher is about to go on a journey that will awaken him to his friends, his past, his future, and even to love. But that awakening could well demand the sacrifice of the dream he holds most dear.

Review: As the seasons change bringing about changes in the lives of each of the Fabulous Four. Asher is feeling a bit left out or perhaps jealous though he is never excluded in the group. Asher questions his feelings since he has never wanted a relationship. He knows he could have had one at any time he wanted it and he knew Sloan had been in love with him at one time as well, yet now

Sloan has Max. After nearly losing a role he really wanted he finds out how work acquaintances feel about him. The he meets Sloan and Wyatt’s beautiful friend Peni and once again is put in his place. On a thirty-day challenge not to drink, to take Peni to dinner, he finds out one more thing about his life (well, perhaps two, if you count his growing feelings for Peni.)

Peni has recently come out. He is very naïve and learned his sexuality in a harsh way. He doesn’t see what Sloan has ever seen in the full-of-himself Asher other than his looks. Peni falls in easily with the friends, but he longs to have what Sloan and Max and Scott and Cedar have.

Peni longs for THE ONE and a real relationship, but struggles with how it will fit in with his strictly Mormon and Samoan family.

Oh man! This is one heartfelt story of growth, change, acceptance, and love! I was so happy to see the other characters in this story as well, especially Sloan and Wyatt though their parts are rather minor they add just the right touch to the story.

I was really glad to see Asher’s story and it was very different from I had expected. I also loved getting a look at Peni and a bit of Samoan history as well. I will admit the story is a little predictable as far as romance is concerned but done so well…who cares…and I am glad it was!

The story is so well-written and I loved how B.G makes a power punch by repeating one or two words. First, in the context, than in italics as a though the in an exclamation. I could really feel these characters, thoughts, see their actions. Most of the sex is off the page which works very well for this story.

I love the covers for these books!

If you are looking for a feel-good story, one without a lot of heavy angst, a strong cast of characters, a fast-paced story line that reels you in and won’t let you go until the end with very little actual on-page sex…this is for you!

Blurb: Leslie “Red” Parks was pretty surprised to find he was considered attractive enough to be a male escort. And once he started and the money came rolling in, he found he didn’t want to stop. For the first time in his life, people truly want him, and he likes that. A lot.

Kirk Toliver has never thought of himself as desirable either—which is why he is single. That, and he has spent years of his life caring for his ill mother. Before she passed away, she made him promise he would splurge on something crazy with the money she left him. So what’s crazier than hiring a male escort?

But neither expected that one night together could lead to what was missing in both their lives.

Review: Sooo hard to rate this book, not because it was badly written, but because as much as I tried, I couldn’t connect with any of the characters. I think the POV plays an important role in getting to know a character; I’m sad to say I didn’t really get to know very well neither Red nor Kirk. This book was in third person omniscient, and the constant jumping from one person’s mind to the other’s made it very impersonal and I felt distanced from the characters.

Red is a male escort; he’s a ginger (yay, I love gingers) hottie, beautiful, with a body to die for. But Red is only a façade; the real person hiding under Red is Les, an insecure boy, who still has some self-esteem problems. Les wasn’t always beautiful. In fact, he used to be overweight. I had a hard time figuring Red (Les) out; he was terrified of becoming overweight again, but considered chubby Kirk hot, yet when they first have sex, Red thinks another man. *shrugs*

Kirk is a middle-aged investor, overweight, inexperienced, shy; to me, he was more like a blushing virgin than a mature man. The first time he set eyes on Red, he fell in love lust with him; his promise to his deathly ill mother leads him to hire Red for a night of fun. Kirk is somewhat endearing with his constant stuttering and blushing, but I can’t say I really liked him as a person.

My biggest problem with this book was the constant flashbacks Red had of conversations with Matthew while he interacted with other characters; at one point I had to go back and re-read to make sure Matthew wasn’t actually a part of that scene. And who exactly was Matthew? I’m still not sure, could be a friend, a pimp, a co-worker, a jealous lover, a raging drama queen…I got glimpses of all of them but I couldn’t say for sure.

I liked the book but I didn’t love it. Too many flashbacks and I know for a fact the omniscient element doesn’t work for me, it’s simply too impersonal. There is a love story somewhere in this book, but it’s hard to detect any emotions that the characters feel at any given time.

However, what I liked was the easy to see character growth. Both Les and Kirk change; Kirk becomes more confident and learns to accept that a beautiful man like Les can and does love him for who he is. Les realizes that with the love and support Kirk gives him, he can turn his life around and be his true self.

Review: Derek is the first book I’ve read by BG Thomas. This is a charming, sweet story full of angst and regret and hope, it’s fairly short so if you got a few half hour or so, you can enjoy this one.

The titular character, Derek, is gay and has just divorced (amicably) from his wife of eight years, Jen. They had gotten together when she had been the one to pick up the pieces after Derek’s first love, Rod, left him to marry a woman. He’s not far off of turning 30 and he feels as if he’s wasted his 20s.

This story is about Derek needing to let go of the past so that he can move on the bigger and better things. Although all I can think of is the line from the Lion King, “you got to put your behind in your past”. On the day his divorce comes through, Derek is left questioning himself and is the fateful day that he meets lesbian, Mara, who then introduces him to Marshall.

Marshall is the one that shows Derek he is more than the sum of two failed relationships. Minor characters such as Mara, her wife Elaine and Bobby Brubaker are quite charming, making sure that at every step of the way that there is someone to help Derek.

There is a lot of angst in this book, so much so I found myself getting a bit bored at times, and a bit exhausted. Don’t get me wrong, I was interested and I enjoyed this, but I found that Derek’s continual angst got to me. Otherwise, this is a well-written book with interesting characters, which noticeably develop.

I particularly liked the ending, probably because it was like finally, we made it through to the other side and its all smiles. I’ve noticed that at least one of the characters mentioned in passing, Cedar Carrington, was featured in BG Thomas’s Seasons series. So despite my opinion, I find myself just a little intrigued by the series.

Blurb: Javier Torres was a sweet, plump, and very unpopular child. But over the years, he turned himself into a gorgeous gym god. The problem is he’s also become an egotistical snob. Javier has nowhere to go but back home. Where to his surprise, he is greeted with open arms. Not just by the family he remembers, but by his new brother-in-law, Cole. Cole suspects there might be a pretty heart to go with the pretty face locked inside that new body. But has Javier learned enough to earn Cole—instead of coal—for Christmas?

Review: Javier Torres went from an isolated, over weight and insecure teenager to a conceited, self-absorbed and condescending adult. Somewhere along the way, Javier forgot what it was like to be the one who was picked on, ridiculed, and ostracized because of his appearance and sexual preference. Enter one lovely little old woman with silver hair and a stunning smile to remind him.

When Javier wakes up in the body he thought he left behind and his partner jets off to vacation without him, he is left alone and confused just days before Christmas. A cup of coffee in the mall and a random message scrawled on the table send Javier back to the place he couldn’t get away from fast enough a decade ago, home.

In a twist on the It’s a Wonderful Life and Christmas Carol stories, Thomas takes a man who lost sight of what’s important, and shows him that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. In an effort to hide the pain of his past, Javier remade himself. Only to turn into the type of person that sent him away in the first place. When the tables are once again turned and he heads back home, he is embraced, to spite his appearance.

I really enjoyed the moral of this story and how Thomas explored such a wide array of emotions in such a short amount of time. Add to that the voice of Paul Morey and his ability to stretch himself into a multitude of characters from one breath to the next. I don’t think I’ve ever heard him actually whine before though, and it was so perfect for Javier when he is at his lowest point.

Javier learns through pain and disappointment what is truly important. The good thing is, it’s not too late for him to have a chance at happiness. And for the first time ever, someone WANTS Cole in their stocking!

Blurb: Todd Burton has had enough of small-town Buckman. His abusive stepfather calls him a fag; his friend Austin makes him realize he may be gay, but Todd doesn’t want to admit his stepfather is right; and he dreams of being a chef. Three good reasons to flee his hometown and pursue greener pastures. But when Todd reaches the big city, his luck runs dry. Soon he can’t pay his rent and gets evicted. In the middle of a snowstorm.

Gabe Richards is a wealthy businessman with enough wounds of his own to make him afraid of ever being intimate again. But when he sees Todd outside his building, freezing to death, he takes pity on him and takes him in from the cold.

To their mutual surprise, Todd and Gabe find themselves drawn to each other. “One night” turns into a week. Maybe letting a man in from the cold can melt the ice around Gabe’s heart—and maybe getting evicted will turn Todd’s luck around.

Todd Burton is jobless, broke and now homeless in the middle of freezing blizzard. Not the greatest combination. Little does he know that the man who lets him come inside the foyer of his apartment building is about to change his life, irrevocably. Gabe Richards is always paying it forward, so much so that he’s had his heart demolished in the past because he is so kind. But he can’t resist wanting to help the scared, frozen young man he finds outside his building.

When Gabe offers him a meal and a place to sleep for the night that is safe and warm, Todd immediately gets the wrong idea and not only insults Gabe, but hurt’s his feelings. None the less, when Todd realizes he has nowhere else to go, but out in the cold, he decides to take Gabe up on his offer.

Todd spent the better part of his life ignoring his sexuality. There have always been hints, little clues, like the heated make out session with his best friend Austin, the men’s fitness magazines he horded as a teenager, oh and the underwear model ads, all male models. But a verbally, mentally and sometimes physical abusive homophobic stepfather made him deny née and every inclination he had toward the same-sex.

But now that Todd is staying with Gabe, he’s finding it hard to ignore the attraction to him. There is also a familiarity and a trust with Gabe that Todd has never experienced with another human being.

Gabe was rescued himself by his boss, mentor and friend Peter when he wasn’t much older than Todd is now. It made his very aware of just how precious life is and how some people just need a helping hand sometimes. Gabe also wears his heart on his sleeve, which some people will take advantage of, which is how he got his heart broken by a young man he helped once a few years ago.

Though Gabe still does anything and everything he can to help someone who is down and out on their luck, he’s safeguarded his heart. Fear of being taken advantage of and hurt again make him deny his increasingly growing feelings for Todd.

Love at first sight and all that are at the core of this story, that and coming to terms with who you are and how you want to live your life. Todd will have to set aside all the ingrained hatred that is stuck on repeat in his brain and Gabe will have to open himself up for possible heartbreak again, if they are going to stand a chance at any kind of happy ever after.

I was hooked on this story from the first words uttered by Charlie David. The scenario of a young man who is battling his own mindset in order to be who he really is was seriously fascinating. Thomas did a great job of writing the inner turmoil that Todd goes through with his stepfather’s barrage of insults constantly repeating themselves inside his confused mind.

It’s not until he finds a way to turn that off that he finally opens himself up to Gabe. The narration was splendid, with David giving that southern twang to Todd’s accent while Gabe had the more mature and commanding tones to his voice. But my personal favorite voice would have to have been Peter, Gabe boss and friend. David really captured the maturity and British nuances to Peter’s proud voice.

If you are a fan of coming of age and being true to yourself stores with a sexy edge, Charlie David narrating and just overall a fun, romantic read then you really should give this one a go. I recommend it!

Summer Lovers

by

B.G. Thomas

Scott Aberdeen doesn’t believe in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, or God. Or love—at least, he knows no one will ever love him. After all, he has carried a torch for his best friend Sloan for a decade, hoping his feelings will be returned one day. But when Sloan finds springtime love with another man, Scott’s fantasies are crushed and his skepticism confirmed.

Cedar Carrington, raised by rock star parents, leads a free-spirited, nomadic life, never staying in one place for long. Due to a dark past he refuses to share or even think about, he is willing to let men into his bed for sex, but never for the night.

When Scott finds himself camping in the middle of nowhere with over a hundred men who all believe in love—and faeries and a magickal gay brotherhood—he’s pretty sure he’s in the wrong place. And when Cedar connects with cynical, critical Scott, he wonders how he could be falling in for this man of all men. But hearts and lives have been transformed at the Heartland Men’s Festival before, and it might be just the place where two very different men can release their pain and find true love at last.

Review: Just when I thought I was going to read one of those “aww” inspiring, sickly sweet kind of read Secret Valentine comes along to blast my mind with an exquisite mix of sweet romance and hotter than hell erotica.

Okay, so this story is a classic friends-to-lovers theme. We met, instant chemistry, misunderstanding is a bitch and we lost so much time, but one of us had to take the chance and go for broke. We’ve read it all before, nothing original here, so it all depends on the writing, and if the author can make it special somehow for us.

Well I liked it, a lot. Steve is a freaking pessimist that simply doesn’t drag you with him. He’s been in love with Burgess ever since he met him, but somehow – even as there were sparks between them the moment they laid eyes on each other – they got stuck on the friend zone. Steve is convicted that Burgess only sees him as a friend at least.

Now through Steve’s eyes and kind of funny flashbacks we get to see how these two characters are and were in each other’s presence. We also get to witness a confusing, for Steve, Valentines night, and as you probably guessed all that confusion and longing swell into a hot as the freaking Sahara desert sexual scene. Now some people mind find it a bit rough and tough, but I liked it and it was just so damned erotic it had me panting there a moment or two, even as it followed with some sweet explaining between the two lovers

So if any of the above feels good to you, then I totally suggest this read for you.
