Title: Catching Eagle’s Eye Series: Seal Going Hot, #3 Author: Samantha Cayto Genre: BDSM/Contemporary Length: Novella (116 Pages) ISBN: 978-1-62830-415-2 Publisher: Wild Rose Publishing (June 16, 2014) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥5Hearts Reviewer: Lisa Blurb: SEAL sniper, Dane Sawyer, is known as Eagle Eye for his deadly aim. He’s also good at hiding his identity as a gay Dom. Childhood trauma has led him to live and play deep in the closet. Then a bullet to his thigh lands him on leave and in the incredible hands of a hot ensign assigned to get him back in the field.
Will Chadwick is happy to finally be living as an openly gay man in the Navy. And as a physical therapist, he’s used to coaxing bad asses like Dane into doing their PT. Harder for him is resisting the temptation that Dane presents. He’s a patient and hiding his sexuality. A prudent man would keep his distance.
But Dane doesn’t know how to quit, and seducing Will has become a mission. The budding sub in Will can’t resist the Dom’s commands. If he could only make Dane see that being a man doesn’t mean hiding his true self.
Review: This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. I absolutely was fascinated with this book. The first part had me in tears, the way Dand was raised. He always loved looking at the male body even at a young age. When his father saw it, then the beatings started. If his mother interfered she was hurt also, even though she did not like his interest in boys either. Dane joined the Navy then the Seals, but by the time he was in a team his father had passed.
Injured on a mission he was stuck on land until he healed. Which mean he had to go to physical therapy. Now when he got his first look at his therapist he was captivated. Will was sexy as hell. Dane had to hide a lot of his desires from the world and the fact that he was a gay Dom just made it even more frustrating. He was deeply in the closet. However he wanted Will and had decided to go after him. The only problem was Will was not going for it.
Will wanted Dane also but he didn’t want to hide. He allowed a fun weekend away with him, but when they got back he just couldn’t stay hidden like Dane. Dane didn’t want to let this man get away but he agreed that he could not come out. He was afraid of what would happen. That is until Will goes over seas to the war zone. He follows him, but then Will is hit by a bullet. He takes out the bad, but can’t do anything for Will but be there for him.
Will is in love with this man, but can Dane come out for him. I loved this story and hope to hear more about this author. It was a fascinating story that caught my attention from the moment I started reading it and kept it all the way to the end.
I would recommend reading this story if you love two sexy men in uniform, dominates and submissives, BDSM scenes, hot and passionate sex, tender glances, excitement and a touch of attitude.
Title: Threshold Series: The Society of Masters, #1 Author: Lynn Kelling Genre: BDSM/Erotica Length: Anthology (50K) Publisher: Forbidden Fiction Publishing (September 9th, 2014) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥5Hearts Blurb: Seven stories from one of the masters of M/M erotic romance, Lynn Kelling. These stories give prequels and other insights into two of her most popular series, Deliver Us and Whatever the Cost—both in the world of the Society of Masters. Product Link: http://fantasticfictionpublishing.com/product/threshold-a-lynn-kelling-anthology Reviewer: Tootsie Review: Threshold is an anthology by Lynn Kelling, which corresponds with her Deliver Us Series and Whatever the Cost. She has broken this down into seven short story/novellas giving us a little more insight into the wonderful characters that we love so much.
Since I have already read the Deliver Us series and Whatever The Cost I had previous knowledge of the characters that we read about here. I think if you already know them, as I do, then this was a bonus being able to go back and see where the guys came from and what their life was beforehand. If you haven’t read the series then you are getting first-hand knowledge to their lives and the struggles they have endured giving you more insight as you go into the series. It works fine either way. No matter how you choose the order of your reading, it still is a sweet addition to the storylines. First up is:
EXPECTED LIES – Darrek and Kyle are best friends in high school and it is time for prom. Darrek is excited about going and is trying hard to convince Kyle to go with him. Of course, what Darrek doesn’t know is Kyle already knows he likes boys instead of girls. He can’t find a way to break the news to his best friend so he makes up a few lies to go around the issue. He has someone lined up to spend the evening with. He can’t help it if Darrek assumes it’s a girl.
Back at the prom, however, Darrek realizes he should have stayed with his best friend. These kids will come and go but he will always have his friend. Find out what happens when Darrek shows up early to spend the rest of his evening with Kyle? Misconception about more than one topic comes to the forefront. Will the boys be brave enough to tell their inner most secrets with each other?
DIVINE SURRENDER– Years ahead now, Kyle is looking for a Dom. Someone who is trustworthy, experienced and knows how to give him the things he needs. Things he is unable to give to himself. He sets up a meeting with Ben to see for himself if they have a connection. Ben is intrigued immediately with Kyle and after discussing the do’s and don’ts, what they each expect from the other, they sign a contract. Kyle lives by himself, he doesn’t have any close friends other that Darrek, but he hasn’t even kept in touch with him as much as he should have. He still has nightmares from a childhood experience, something he shares with Darrek, even though Darrek seems to have forgotten or blocked out most of it. Maybe it’s time to get his act together, finally take the plunge for what he needs sexually. He misses Darrek so much, but there are things working on Kyle’s mind that he is unable to share with anyone. Hopefully, now with Ben, those things will change.
Ben is beyond thrilled with having Kyle as his new sub. Gabriel tries to get information from Ben about him but he keeps it close to his chest what he really thinks about him. Kyle is due in for a session and Ben has a plan, with the help of Gabriel, to test his boundaries. Kyle has fallen backwards too many times turning to pills, dangerous sex, or just getting lost in his own head, that he really wants help. He feels certain that Ben is just the man to help him. Will Ben be able to give Kyle what he needs? And if he does, will Ben be able to stay professional about it, or has he fallen too quickly for the beautiful blonde man he now calls his sub?
NEVER HAPPENED– Gabriel has many demons of his own. He was saved close to 10 years ago by Gabriel and Trace. They gave him a home and something to cling to when he wasn’t sure where his next meal would come from. Through the years, Gabriel has worked his way inside Diadem, the BDSM club owned by Trace and up the ladder to where he is now a professional Dom, as well. Ben has always had a part of Gabriel and vice versa. That connection they share will never change. Gabriel can’t help feeling lonely, more so now than ever, since Ben has his own sub, Kyle.
Gabriel knows how to get on Ben’s bad side, something he seems to be doing a lot of lately. He’s not fooling Ben. He knows exactly what he is doing. Ben decides to play his game, but in doing so, he gives Gabriel what he needs. He needs to be dominated by Ben, worked over, and find release. Whether that is sexually or mentally, Ben will make that distinction himself. He has always known what Gabe needs, he knows how to push, how to read his signals. Regardless if Ben has his own sub now, he will not push Gabriel away or leave him to stumble on his own. Unbeknownst to them, Kyle witnesses their session. Struggling with his own feelings and reservations, he tries to do as Ben asks. Will they both be able to get what they need from Ben? Or will there be too many hurt feelings and bad mistakes to get past?
PLEASURE OR PARADISE – Gabriel and Darrek have been together two years now. After experiencing some horrible tragedies, they decide to take a break from the real world and just be together, the two of them. Everyday life has a way of intruding and before you realize you are just going along with the motions. Gabriel and Darrek agree they need time together. They want to re-energize their relationship, go back to how they were when they first came together. Taking a few months off from the real world, Gabriel and Darrek go to a tropical island in the Florida Keys. The resort is for fulltime 24/7 master/slave relationships. Everyone at the island is in the same situation. What makes the island so special, there’s no judgement or incrimination because everyone is in a Dom/Sub relationship.
Gabriel needs to push Darrek, change things up, and help him to remember what it is that makes them so special to each other. Darrek finds that even after 2 years Gabriel can still bring him to his knees, literally, with a look or a simple word. To keep from going stagnant within their relationship Gabriel tries to help Darrek come to terms with some of his hang-ups. Public viewing being one of them, but Gabriel has a plan, one he feels sure will help Darrek step out in front of all the eyes on the island. Of course, what goes around comes around. Darrek will get his time as well when they trade off positions. Will Darrek be able to do what Gabe wants him to do? He is struggling with the scene Gabriel has laid out for him. This will take all of his courage if he goes through with it. It also could strengthen their relationship, something they need desperately. Will Darrek go through with Gabe’s plan, and if he does, how will he get back at Gabriel for putting him in such an embarrassing situation?
ESCAPE– In this story, we have the previous lives of Jacen and Liam who we got to know in Whatever the Cost. Liam convinces Jacen to tell him about his abusive and torturous past. They both go under new names and identity now that they have moved on but to go back into that world, even just in their minds, is a hard thing to do.
Travis, now Jacen, back at home in his mind, tells of the struggles and mind games he had to endure as a teenager. All to the horrible, demeaning actions of his neighbour. Afraid for himself, his brother, and his family, Travis goes along with the abuse thinking he is saving the others. It was hard reading this, as no one wants to experience or be a witness to this type of sickness. However, Travis experienced it, lived it, and was brave enough to do something about it, therefore, making me want to be there for his journey. Liam is there, holding him tightly, as he subjects himself, once again, to that time in his life. He is a very brave, smart, and kind soul who, with the help of his beautiful and wonderful Liam, can now move on with his life and the future they make for themselves, together.
TRICK AND TRUTH– This story follows along with Avery and Timothy and their time in the foster care system. The boys are young and pretty much have to take care of themselves. The foster parents are in it for the money and very seldom see to the care or needs of the boys. Timothy is quite sick and not able to get out of bed often. Avery knows he needs medicine and the only way he can think to get it for him is prostituting himself for money. How hard could it be? His housemate, Jimmy, does it all the time. So with some of Jimmy’s make up and his wardrobe, Avery sets out to do what he feels he has no other choice, and that is to save Timmy, whatever the cost may be to him.
Avery succeeds in getting medicine but Timmy questions him profusely about how he was able to get it. It’s tearing him up thinking Avery may have done something horrible on his behalf. Avery cannot bring himself to tell what he went through, even though it will haunt him, to get the much needed medicine. He knows right now, with Jimmy’s failing health, it is better to lie than to upset him.
Will Avery convince him he didn’t do anything inappropriately to get the medicine? If Timmy doesn’t take the medicine, he will only get worse and that is something Avery cannot deal with. He cannot lose his Timmy, even if he has to lie.
BETWEEN HERE AND THERE – The boys have aged out of the foster care system and are now on their own. Avery and Jimmy struggle to make ends meet but they are in it together, no matter what happens. Avery is having a hard time keeping thoughts at bay as he continually remembers seeing Timmy with other guys. He even allows him to take a picture of him blissed out after incredible sex for his own. Something he can keep and look at. He definitely doesn’t want anyone else to see it, but Timmy thinks differently.
Avery feels it is important for both of them to start using condoms. Timmy has put them in some bad situations so to keep things from getting worse. He hands over a condom for Timmy to use. They both know what the other is thinking but he puts it on anyway. He will do whatever is necessary to protect the person that means more to him than anything.
Lynn Kelling has put together seven stories to further complete her Deliver Us series and Whatever the Cost. She has given us a deeper insight into all the characters’ lives and the struggles they faced getting away and into a better life. I don’t normally read anthologies, mainly because I like longer, stories that are more involved. However, for me, this was a must read.
It is a remarkable gift when an author gives us more history to go along with the stories we already love so much. I have really enjoyed going through each one of these and having some questions answered and basically getting to know each one on a deeper level. Lynn has created many amazing and beautiful characters within her series and to have a chance to only increase what we already know was quite a bonus.
As I mentioned earlier, if you haven’t read the main stories already, having this beforehand will only give you a much better understanding of where they are now. Lynn Kelling is an incredible author who devotes a lot of herself, her time, and research to give us the best she can in her books. You only have to read one to figure that out. So, if you haven’t read any, I would strongly encourage you to go for it. If you have read her books, again I would strongly encourage you to pick up this anthology and savour it, like fine wine, for the gift it is.
Title: Vinny, Porn Star Series: Working Boys, #3 Author: J.P. Barnaby Genre: Erotica/ BDSM Length: Novella (56 pages) Publisher: Wild City Press (August 27th 2014) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 hearts Reviewer: Tams Blurb: Vinny is just your typical all-around average guy, well, except for the leather and the floggers, oh and maybe that little room at the back of his house where he likes to take a guy and strap his ass before he before he nails him. Well, maybe Vinny isn’t so average. At least, that’s what Angel thinks. You see, Angel got himself into a bit of trouble by scheduling a fetish shoot with The Sounding Board when he’s never even been tied up.
Who better to show him the ropes than professional fetish model, Vinny D’Forino? The answer will bring him to his knees.
Review: Vinny D’Forino is a porn star with a few kinks. His particular twist is BDSM. He craves the control and submissive nature of another man, who being a Dom, awards him. And he doesn’t kiss, ever. His reputation precedes him in the business, perhaps because he doesn’t take from the unwilling and there are limits to his domination. When his friend and producer calls in a favour, Vinny is hesitant at first, but finally agrees to mentor a fresh new face to the business that may have gotten in over his head.
Angel has been fantasizing to the video version of Vinny for years. He signs up for a BDSM shoot through a rival company, not fully understanding what he’s getting himself into. Thankfully, Vinny takes on the challenge to show him the ropes, pun intended! The absolute submissive nature of Angel throws Vinny for a loop, but he refuses to budge on a previous promise to himself not to take on another Sub, not to open up or care. When Angel goes through with the shoot anyways and is worse for the wear afterwards, all bets are off.
What I enjoyed about this story to spite the more hardcore aspect of the BDSM genre was the insight into the mind of the Dom, which is solely based on how Barnaby wrote him. I liked how even though Angel didn’t know exactly what he was getting into with the shoot, Vinny explained every little detail of what they were doing when they were together. The only time there was any type of pain involved wasn’t even described, it was just spoken of toward the end.
I can’t wait to see where Barnaby takes these two characters with future installments. They are very yin/yang in their personalities. And Angel may be a natural submissive, but he definitely has a mind of his own, so it was a lot of fun watching the personality clashes and how each man reacted to the other in those situations. I cringed occasionally when Vinny really got into his role as a Dom, but the sex was fucking outstanding, and Angel seemed to love every second of it!
Of course, BDSM fans will love this one, but I think those who sit on the fence will enjoy this title as well. Like I said, it’s not hardcore or crossing over into abuse or pain, but the dominate and submissive roles are clearly lined out and delved into… in an oddly sexy way.

Title: Caught By His Vampire Mate Series: Vamp Mates, #2 Author: Dakota Dawn Genre: BDSM/Paranormal Length: Novel (153 Pages) ISBN: 978-1-62740-295-8 Publisher: Siren Publishing (July 24th, 2013) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥4Hearts Reviewer: Lisa
Blurb: Conlin McLauchlan’s need to help his brother gets him into deep trouble. When vampire Tristan Wyckoff catches Conlin breaking into his business, he doesn’t mind tying up his attractive prey, he actually prefers it.
Conlin’s desperation to help his vampire brother leads them to the Wyckoff brothers’ property. The three vampire brothers run a winery that mixes blood into each bottle. Conlin believes they’ve found a home, but his brother and their friend Ghost don’t think so.
When his small family wants to leave because they fear for Conlin’s life, he’s devastated. His feelings for Tristan were instantaneous and had only been growing over the time they’d been together.
Tristan is flying high. His mate is perfect, from Conlin’s fiery spirit to the man’s newfound love of being bound by Tristan in the bedroom. Unfortunately, there are two things trying to hinder their blooming love, Conlin’s irritating friend, Ghost, and some evil presence in the area.
Something wicked is afoot. Will Tristan be able to save Conlin from the being that wants him dead?
Review: This was an amazing story. Each book in the Vamp Mates Series focuses on a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, we recommend reading the series in sequential order. It keeps me from getting a bit lost in the stories and gives me an insight in to their world. A world that captured my attention from the start and kept it all the way to the end. I love the way each character just mixes with the others. How fast they are to defend what is theirs and what they believe. Then there is how fast they get into the mood to punish their mates.
I got a kick out of this story because not only do you have vampires, humans but also you get a ghost with this one. Conlin was breaking into a blood bank to keep his little brother alive. His brother had been turned into a vampire one year ago, but Darrin never felt comfortable in taking blood from a human. He feared that he would kill them, so Conlin and Ghost would break in and take blood. Oh, they left money for the blood they took, but all he wanted was to keep his brother alive. What he had not expected was to not only be caught but to be caught by one of the owners. An owner that turned out to be totally drool worthy. Tristan was someone he wanted very badly.
Tristan had found his mate, now he had to talk his little mate into it. Although arguing with a ghost made him exasperated, he knew that he would have to take what he wanted. He was falling in love with Conlin, but boy did this man drive him insane. Conlin loved his mate, but his brother, Ghost and himself were not feeling very cared for. However when they tried to leave, they came across a danger that would make them fear. A danger that showed Ghost who he truly was. A danger that had Tristan fighting to keep his mate safe. Even if it took a bit of spanking and cuffing him to the bed to show him where he belonged.
I loved this story although when she brought the characters from book one in and had them sleeping with women I kind of lost interest. To me mates don’t sleep with anyone but each other. So that was the hardest part about this story. Other than that, it was really good. I would recommend reading it. It gives you sexy men, vampires, ghost and other paranormal beings, excitement and danger. I would recommend reading the first book though, because it does give you a hint of what they are about.
Blurb: Renny Woolsey’s first night at his new job of bartender’s assistant ends with him running for his life. He wouldn’t have even taken the job if his college grant money hadn’t been almost depleted.
Sprinting through the woods at night to escape two vampires wasn’t something he would have ever guessed he’d be doing. His mom had raised him to believe that humans shared the earth with other beings. The truth of her belief is now chasing him. Just when he thought he couldn’t go on, Renny comes to a cabin. An owl hoots eerily and Renny bounds up the cabin’s steps. To his horror, a huge owl flies right onto the porch. In a panic, Renny rushes into the unlocked cabin.
As Renny tries to figure out how he’s going to escape two evil vamps and one freaky owl, a light comes on. He is instantly mesmerized by Zavier Thorpe’s pale green eyes.
If Renny lives through the night, his life will be changed forever.
Review: This is book one in this series and I can guarantee that you will love it. These guys are not only sexy but also very smart. I loved Renny, he is just so tender-hearted, loving, caring and a smart ass. He lost his parents when he was just a child and was raised in the foster system. A system that he wanted to change for the better. He wanted to finish college to start that change. When his grants ended, he decided to work with a friend at a bar, which should have been safe but turned out so very bad. Vampires do exist and now he was on the run.
He ran right into a home where an owl protected it and Zavier owned it.
Zavior was a vampire and a very dominate man. When Renny runs into his home, he was instantly attracted to him. It turned out that Renny was not what he thought, and when he looked at Zavior, he started the bonding process. His life is about to change forever.
This was a very cute little story that captivated me from the moment I started reading it. I absolutely fell in love with it and cannot wait to get my hands on the next book. This story gives you the kink of BDSM, two very sexy men, vampires, and other paranormal creatures, excitement, adventure and a bit of danger. It gives you that and so much more. With reading this story, it will give you an insight into their world. A world that you will fall in love with and keep you captivated.
Title: Cisco’s Boy Series: Indiscreet, #3 Author: A. C. Katt Genre: Contemporary/BDSM Length: Novel (178 Pages) ISBN: MLR-1-02013-0167 Publisher: MLR Press (November 16th, 2013) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥4.5 Hearts Reviewer: Lisa
Blurb: Master Cisco de Loria wants everything from his new sub Greg Harris, that is everything but love, in fact, his contract expressly forbids it.
Dr. Greg Harris finally has the money to buy a submissive membership at Indiscreet, a gay BDSM club. The only thing he wants is to have Dr. Cisco de Loria as his Master. Cisco wants Greg too, but the one thing Greg most wants to give, Cisco refuses to take, Greg’s love. Cisco is so sure he doesn’t need love that he puts it in as a clause in their contract. If Greg ever mentions love, the contract is terminated. Cisco finds out the hard way that things somehow don’t always work out the way you plan.
Review: This is book three in this series and they should be read in order. It gives you an insight into their world and into their lives. Also, most of the characters are already mentioned in the first and second book. I have never really been into BDSM stories. I don’t mind the ones that talk about spankings and light stuff, however this one pushed me passed my boundaries. It showed me a side that I didn’t really understand.
Master Cisco de Loria was a doctor as well as Greg Harris. They liked each other at work, but hadn’t really known each other outside of it.
Cisco wanted a sub that would share his life with him twenty-four-seven. He wanted him to take care of him and their home, but his one concrete order was love was never to be mentioned. It would end the contract at once. The problem was he was falling in love with Greg.
Greg had been in love with Cisco from the moment he set eyes on him. He also wanted him to be his master. So he payed to be a sub and wished with all of his might that Cisco chose him. The problem was Cisco refused to take Greg’s love. However, Cisco was having trouble keeping his own rules. Then there is a danger coming for Greg, and Cisco will do everything to protect the man he has fallen in love with.
I loved this story and was quite surprised by it. I can understand why people would like this type of control in their lives, but this story actually shows you a bit more in what it takes to make it succeed. This story gives you the BDSM scene, excitement, sexy men, passionate glances, quirky friends, and a bit of danger. It actually gives you a man struggling to keep his heart safe and slowly falling in love. It also gives you a man who has a heart so big that it spills out with every touch he gives. I loved this story and find myself wanting to check out the rest of the stories this amazing author has.

While Michael is desperate for another night with Sam, he knows he shouldn’t get involved with his boss, let alone another man who can’t accept who he is. But as they’re forced to work together to save the company, the desire sparking between them becomes impossible to ignore…
Purchase Link: http://www.penguin.com/book/takeover-by-anna-zabo/9780698182134 Review: Sam Anderson just got a new job as interim CEO for a Company he means to save from financial ruin, which he’s quite good at, and to celebrate he’s off to Curacao for a break. Sam wants to go somewhere to relax, somewhere away from prying eyes where he can be himself. It doesn’t take long for him to catch the eye of someone, someone who can tell how high-strung Sam is, and someone who can take control of Sam.
Michael Sebastian has been in Curacao on vacation for a week and yet to find anyone that caught his eye. That is until the sexy suit with the silver cufflinks stumbles into the bar. The man is wound tighter than a drum, and Michael is more than willing to help him release some tension. Imagine his surprise when the man is ready, willing and able to submit to Michael in every way. The attraction is intense and the sex is mind-blowing, but both realize it can only be the one time. No names, no titles, no strings.
S. Randal Anderson and Mike Sebastian only know of each other on paper, or so they think. The shock to both men would be apparent to anyone paying attention the first time Anderson meets with all the employee’s. No names, no titles, no strings just went right out the window. Sam and Michael are forced to work together in order to save the company that Michael built from the ground up with his two best friends. To say the tension is thick would be an understatement of gargantuan proportion! As hard as they try to stay professional, they are only human, and it’s not often that a Dominate finds not only the perfect Submissive, but also the perfect man for him.
The push and pull is unnerving at times. They don’t want to jeopardize the buyout or their jobs, but they can’t deny the way they make each other feel. Sam is not out at work, hence the reason he had to hide to find Michael in the first place. And Michael has a troubled past with a partner that was closeted, so he refuses to go there again. But these two men are seriously like magnets, they can’t not hover, sway toward each other. Once the company looks to be secure in a buyout the cost just might be clear for them to endeavour a relationship. Sadly, there is an underlying threat that neither man anticipated that wants to destroy not only their relationship, but their business as well.
Okay, there was a lot of story in this story. And what I mean by that is the business jargon and explanation of what the company is, what it does, how Sam is trying to save it. At times, that was a little tedious, but other than that, this book was a delightful treat. The BDSM aspect was explained in such a way that it wasn’t rude, violent or a turn off. I actually was enthralled with the Dominate and Submissive traits and how I perceived that each man became that way. And let me tell you, this book hits the ground running with Michael pounding Sam into submission in the first chapter!
And even though the attraction to each other was immediate and intense, this wasn’t an insta-love story. The relationship, the trust and the communication was built over time, with a few roadblocks along the journey. Sam is very much in charge when he has his suit on, but Michael is the dominate in the relationship. They have to navigate that and figure out how that works on both sides before they can commit. There’s a part in the story where Sam takes too much at once, in the bedroom, and even though his mind and his feelings are saying give me more, Michael knows that his body can’t take anymore right then. It was fascinating seeing the story through their eyes, seeing this different side to the BDSM explained this way. It was at the heart of what made this story different and appealing to me.
I’m babbling, I’ll stop, go grab this book! Seriously, it is a BDSM story at the heart of it, but it’s not abusive I promise. It’s just really, really sexy as hell!
Title: Breaking Free Series: A Guarded Novel Author: Cat Grant Genre: BDSM/Transgender Length: Novel (204 pages) Publisher: Cat Grant Books (July 9th, 2014) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥3Hearts Blurb: Richard Carr has the kind of life most people would envy. Partner in a major Los Angeles law firm, married to the man of his dreams, Richard seems to have it made – except for the lie he’s been living for the past forty-odd years.
On special nights, in the company of kinky friends, Richard disappears inside Renee, his sexy, dominatrix alter ego. Strong, sassy, and flirtatious in her red and black corset, Renee is who Richard truly is on the inside – and who he longs to be outside of the dungeon.
But starting his – her – transition doesn’t provide the relief Renee had hoped for. Her business partners demand that she go back to dressing as a man at the office, while Robert, her husband and fellow Dominant, can’t conceal his shock as the man he married disappears a little bit more every day.
Their one true point of connection remains in the dungeon – in the person of Jase Hewitt, the submissive they both share. But when a devastating tragedy shatters Jase and sends him running to his Masters for comfort, it quickly becomes apparent that Robert’s love for Jase extends far beyond their Dom/sub roles…
And Renee faces a choice – abandon her journey toward becoming the person she truly is inside, or risk losing the man she loves.
Review: Richard Carr, a litigation partner, secretly longs to be Renee full-time. Tired of pretending to be someone he’s not deep down but terrified to come out as well. His husband Robert, an architect, is hesitant but gives him his blessing. So Renee begins hormone treatments unfortunately this causes problems between her and Robert. As Robert wasn’t as comfortable with the actual transformation, as he lead Renee to believe.
It was a very unique story that I have never read before. It broke my heart that Richard struggled so badly with who he yearned to be and what the world wanted him to be. But I’m very glad in the end everything worked out. No one should have to hide who they are inside. Intense dungeon scenes with flogging, whipping, and a very hot sex scene between Robert and Jase, a friend and a future Dom.

Blurb: Brian finds out the hard way that once a top, always a top, doesn’t apply to him.
Paul and Geoffrey return from their special trip to Paris. Paul plans to propose to Geoffrey but first, his urge to protect his lover drives him to close an old loophole. He visits Brian, demanding the original video he made of Geoffrey be destroyed.
Brian doesn’t understand what Paul’s upset about, or his dominant streak. But the clearer Paul’s feelings for Geoffrey become to him, the more Brian desires to have a man love him the same way. Curiosity draws him to the local kink club, and into the arms of a man whose punishment gives him all he secretly craves.
Review: This is a sequel to Sex, Ties and Videotape. I do suggest you read it first or you may not get a good grasp of the characters and be a bit confused as to why Phil and Brian hate each other so much.
Phil and Geoff have just gotten back from a trip to Paris and are about to return to work. Phil is worried that since he and Geoff have been exploring a D/s relationship that all Geoff wants from him is that; a Dom he trusts and hot sex. Phil is in love with Geoff and wants more. Can he prove it to Geoff or will he run when Phil confesses his feelings? I’m not telling. You will have to buy the book and see for yourself.
When Phil pays Brian a visit, Brian is afraid Phil wants to hit him again and is surprised about the feelings that arouses in him, thinking of Geoff and Phil’s newfound D/s life. He decides to try out the new BDSM club in town and see what it’s all about.
I absolutely love Eva Lefoy. She creates some of the most wonderful characters. I love a story of a broken man, lots of angst and have found I like when these men can finally get out of the angst and have at least a happy for now ending. Eva provides plenty of this in her stories, and this is no exception.
I love Geoff. He is sexy and knows what he wants but had to learn the hard way. This story is about Brian as much as Phil and Geoff. I liked that Brian is coming to terms with his feelings. I will say that I don’t like Brian, but this book does redeem him in a way and Gar? I can’t wait to see more of him. Oh, wow!
If you like BDSM, D/s lifestyles, bondage, Kink clubs, sweet romance and of course, some hot mansex, this book is for you!

Blurb: Having both recently left Doms who just weren’t right for them, twins Christopher and Robin get together at a coffee house to commiserate. They can’t help but wish out loud for the men they’re looking for. These ideal men are as different as the twins are alike, though, and they lament ever finding two Doms to fit the bill.
When barista Core asks Robin to go to dinner with him after hearing his wish list, Christopher can’t help but be jealous of his twin. That soon changes, however, when Darren approaches his table with a few wishes of his own.
Can Christopher and Robin really both find exactly what they’re looking for on the same night? Or is it too big a coincidence to be real?
Review: This title is part of the Vive La Difference AmberPax Collection. It is not available in paperback.
This story is really cute. I absolutely loved Robin and Christopher. They are gorgeous and surprisingly twins. There are so many things about them that are identical but what they want in their Doms. When one goes through something it would seem that the other goes through the same thing or close. It had been a while since they had seen each other, so they were overjoyed when they got together at the coffee shop.
Christopher and Robin were down in the dumps. The Doms that they had been with were not right for them and they just needed to talk about it together. Christopher was a pushy little bottom who needed strict discipline and a firm hand. He responds really well to punishment and praise. Robin is a sassy pain who needs daily beatings and hourly play times. He loves spankings and is a size queen.
They just never expected anyone to ever want them and figured that to could be down together. What they had not expected was to be over heard. Core owns the coffee shop where Robin and Christopher are having the best conversation. Or so Core thinks, he has wanted the cute man for a long time so when he over hears him. Well, time to hook up. He is going to get Robin.
Now Christopher is feeling lower than ever now that his brother is off and playing. That is till a sexy man just comes up to him and lets him know that he not only heard but he was going to be Christopher’s boy. Darren could not believe that this sexy little man wanted the same thing he wanted. Things are going to heat up.
I have not really been into the hard-core BDSM scene, but Sean always knows how to write the stories that I can fall in love with. Although I would love to read more about these four. Or at least see what their futures like but I love these stories he gives. It has sexy men, twins, spankings, discipline, and sassy subs. I cannot wait to read another book by Sean.

Ian works at a bar his boyfriend, Calvin, owns. But, Calvin isn’t out to anyone, so he keeps Ian a secret until his sister comes to town and finds out. Ian wants more from Calvin but doesn’t know how to let his boyfriend know. After seeing Ezra again, he longs for what the sexy man he had a crush on in high school can give him. Ian is cute and is a submissive. When they finally get together, it’s hot and explosive. Calvin ends up beating Ian up after his sister finds out about them and threatens to tell everyone.
I found this story to be somewhat intriguing. Ezra introduces Ian to BDSM, which he craves more of after experiencing it.
The sex was hot and steamy.
Gigi’s Review: ♥♥♥ 3 Hearts
This was a hot, fun story about the one who got away. Old high school crush returns and dominates all of Ian’s thoughts, and eventually his sexual desires too! Glad Ezra did step in because Ian sure is settling for a jerk with his current closeted boyfriend. Things get heated when the current jerkface boyfriend sees that Ian is considering Ezra’s attentions, his family takes notice of their relationship, and the guy gets violent.
Moral of the story: give that high school crush a second chance, and don’t’ settle for vanilla when what you really need is to get your kink on.
This is a short, fun, and sexy little read. A bit extreme when the first sexually dominant scene involves sounding rods, wow, quite the jump there! But still enjoyable.
Blurb: Ross Jenson is looking forward to a little midmorning delight to celebrate making Lifetime in Weight Watchers, but after he spent eight months losing ninety-eight pounds, what his lover gets him is a triple-layer chocolate cake. When Ross refuses to eat it, the newly minted ex leaves the country and dumps him via e-mail, with three sentences and a link to a chubby chasers web site. A few days later, Ross’s best friend and workout buddy takes him to her favorite club for drinks. Ross is shocked when he realizes it’s a sex club but warms to the idea in record time when a mysterious Japanese man and his silken ropes sweep him off his feet. Ross has never thought of himself as adventurous, but he can’t stop thinking about the man who makes his bones feel like gummy worms.
Review: Curious Sustenance was one of those really fun books to read. It is sweet and charming with a bit of sensuality. I rated it moderate but all the sex is pretty much off the page, though it is very sensual and loving. This is just a great story and though it does center on Shibari (a type of bondage) it isn’t overly explicit.
I absolutely loved the story. I loved Ross. He really is a fabulous character and I give him props for going through with weightwatchers. I hated his ex, such a jerk. Miles is also hot and sexy. Who wouldn’t fall for him? The story has a decent plot and I loved the interaction of all the characters. I feel there is a little bit of everything in this story. I will say I wish the ending had been just a bit more conclusive but I was pleased.
If you like have wanted to read a story with a bit of bondage but not wanting a lot of explicitness, Shibari and this book is a perfect place to start. I highly recommend this to anyone that likes a good sweet romance, that is fast pace, holds, your attention, if you like BDSM, Shibari, weightwatchers, tight friendships, close family relationships, and some sensual mansex!

Purchase Link: http://www.amazon.com/Vanquished-Thief-Medieval-Gay-BDSMErotica-ebook/dp/B00JJVMAW2 Review: Book three in the Vanquished series comes and treats us to a surprising twist. We’ve been used to mortals being in the mercy of demons, Princes and Kings being vanquished by the sublime torments of extreme pleasure, but this time around, the author has granted us with yet another being extraordinaire.
There is not much to say about this new addition to the series. The sexual games work in the same path though there are new kinks introduced. The cruelty of the main characters is always followed by their love and nurturing nature as weird as it may seem for demons to behave this way. The main change came with Jonah’s new role. Though he remains a very wanton Uke, he took on a leading role in the previous book, which turned into full sadistic Seme into this one for a short spell. This new version of Jonah was definitely not met favourably from me.
So, in this book, we have a thief breaking and entering King Cain’s realm without anyone noticing him. How very weird this was in itself, but when the thief is caught, things become weirder still. It seems as if this thief is seeking punishment, instead of avoiding it… He seems to be quite cocky too and secure in some hidden knowledge. Could it be that this particular thief is much, much more than he seems?
I have made up my mind and my favourite character in this series is definitely Randell. He is the perfect sadist for my poor dark heart and he manages to make me smile each and every time I read another installment. King Caine is the sweet sort. No matter how hard he tries to be severe and cruel, deep inside his heart he’s a damned softie; there’s no other explanation for his behaviour. I would have love to see him in a vulnerable position and damn if this wasn’t the perfect opportunity to do so, but I guess the author wanted her Seme unspoiled. In any case, this new twist in the plot may very well produce interesting and enticing future installments.

http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/man-candy-samantha-cayto/1119316887?ean=9780857156747 Review: Man Candy is a great story about two people who are trying to find their way in life. Brent is a war photographer that almost got blown up at his last assignment and doesn’t know if he can return to his work. Alex is a college student and stripper/candy shop worker that still depends on his parents help and support so he is scared to tell them that he is gay. The two originally meet at the strip club where Alex works. Brent is immediately intrigued by the younger man, while Alex is drawn the dominate presence of Brent. The two share a moment together and then part ways never expecting to see each other again.
When Brent goes to Putnam on vacation to recover from his last assignment he sees Alex working in the candy shop. From that moment on the two are headed down a path that neither of them can escape. Both are equally drawn to each other and they develop a lover/friend relationship when Alex decides that he wants Brent to be the one to “pop his cherry.” Brent shows Alex how to be a sub to his Dom and how to take and give pleasure. Throughout this time, they also help take care of each other showing how much they truly feel about each other. Alex helped take care of Brent through his migraine and talk to him about his future as a war photographer. Brent helped Alex with his parents reaction to his being gay.
I liked this story because you really felt like the characters really cared about each other. What was to start out as a fling grew into something more. The trust that Alex immediately gave to Brent and how much Brent couldn’t stay away from Alex helped show their true feelings. They were constantly looking out for each other. Overall, it was a good quick read that kept you interested on what was going to happen between the two.
Blurb: The last thing Daniel, a hard-working public defender, expected to see the morning after a one night stand was his hook-up staring back at him from the wrong side of the law. Assigned to work his case, Daniel vows to keep things professional with Rafael but has a hard time controlling his craving for dominance, the control, and the connection they shared. Rafael, a paid Dominant in the Chicago underworld, has been dealing with a cop problem for far too long. Used to sex with no emotion, he’s entranced with Daniel’s submission, his innocence, and…could there be something more? Can Daniel clear Rafael’s name, keeping him out of jail and in his life, with the odds, a cop, and the mounting evidence against them?
Review: This was like a legal/BDSM comedy of errors. The lawyer who tricked with a Dom unknowingly, and then sees his one night stand in court the next day. Even though he knows there’s a legal conflict, Daniel and Rafael are like teenagers in heat and can’t keep their hands of each other.
For me, most BDSM books are pretty heavy, lots of psychological content and for good reason, dominance, and submission is a physical yes, but mostly psychological practice. So I was a bit turned off that the characters took it rather lightly, and sometimes almost comically, Daniel jumping in to sample the lifestyle and submit like it was nothing big.
I do like the fun sexual heat between Rafael and Daniel, and the humorous relationship that Daniel has with his co-worker and superior Jesse.
Through the legal battles, BDSM scenes, and suspenseful set-up’s by the cop trying to put Rafael in jail, all that drama was overshadowed by two side characters. Jesse and “the King,” George, totally captured my attention. I like the strangeness of the King’s personality as a top Dom, his attire, his entire persona and the way he reacts to Jesse. Jesse, forever making jokes about avoiding his wife, puts on a pretty straight front, until the end of the story as we see him react to George.
I’m glad Daniel and Rafael get their HEA, but I was totally grabbed by Jesse and George and look forward to reading their story!

Gabriel and Jayden wage an epic war for Ethan, but in the end, they may all end up losing.
Adapted from The Forbidden Room and A House of Cards: Deconstructing Ethan
Review: I actually had not read the blurb for this book before beginning to read, so you can imagine my sense of déjà vu when things started reminding me of the first J.P. Barnaby novel I had ever read. It had been a while since I had read The Forbidden Room, so it took me a bit to realize this was adapted form that book. For the most part, it’s pretty much the same for that first part. I had not read House of Cards: Deconstructing Ethan, so that was an all new surprise for me. Though after reading this book, I do feel these two stories are very separate. They are written from a different POV, in a different style, and with many journal excerpts. It’s also a very long, albeit, very good story. Maybe two books would still be a good idea.
The first part of the story, grabs my curious mind right away, especially the first lines: The Ad: “26 year old SWM seeking disciplined roommate so split 5 BR house. Utilities included, Male pref. Call for appt.”
The word “disciplined” in that ad giving a perfect foreshadowing of what was to come. I felt like Jayden walked right into that scenario, his subconscious must have known, and the saying if something’s too good to be true clearly applied. Only in this case, for the most part, what Jayden steps into turns out to be ultimately good. The submission/bondage is a razor edge between desired and feared, though safe words area always in play, the play was at times seemingly heartless, and cold, then powerful and intimate. The way the scenes were written put me in the moment. I felt both a pain in the pit of my stomach, and the desire for Jayden to do whatever was needed to make Ethan happy. Throughout the story Ethan introduces Jayden to his world of dominance and submission, trains him, introduces him to other masters/Mistresses, and even another sub to interact with.
As the relationships develop between Master, submissive and now Lexi, Ethan’s other sub that he trains Jayden to interact with, the hazy line between sexual identity, sex, and submission gets even more blurred. Jayden questions himself, his sexuality, his attraction to both Ethan and Lexi. He questions whether his play with Ethan makes him gay, or just makes him a submissive, and if it matters what gender he submits to.
Many methods of “play” are introduced in this story. Pain, edging, sexual submission, humiliation, bondage, it’s a very educational plot for those beginning in this genre of reading. I myself enjoy BDSM plots and found it very fascinating.
Now on to the second part of the story, this one being based on House of Cards: Deconstructing Ethan. All through part one I am both frustrated, confused and ultimately in pain for Ethan. I want to know what really makes him tick, I want him to have Jayden, and I want him to have everything. Part two helps explain many things. Both my using Ethan’s POV and by letting us read journal excerpts he kept.
Things get very complicated because both Lexi and Jayden are playing new roles, training the new generation of subs the only way they know how, they way they were trained by Ethan, only to quickly learn one method does not fit all scenarios. That what Ethan did and developed for Lexi and Jayden was special and would not necessarily work for other relationships. Through this part of the story we get a look at a very jealous Ethan and a very jealous Jayden, all the while I want to knock their heads together and tell them to see what’s right in front of them! But there is one big block to their ultimate acceptance, and happiness, problem is its ultimate pain, loss, and sadness that brings it. God, the pain J.P puts all the characters though is enough to make me want therapy, not to mention explaining all the “monsters” these people carry with them. I’m talking pain of loss, pain of abuse, pain of neglect, not pain in the playroom.
Over all this is a great collection. I still feel maybe the two need to be read and digested separately. So give yourself sometime between the two parts. There is a lot to absorb here, so much is deeply moving, heavy, very emotional, and by the very end, cathartic. For those who enjoy the BDSM genre, I highly recommend this read.

Purchase Link: http://www.amazon.com/The-Sergeant-Christa-Tomlinson-ebook/dp/B00JTLAJ9S Review: When I got this book, I was only looking at the fact that they were part of a SWAT team, and then I realized that it was also about a Dom and Sub. I have read a few that were BDSM but not hard-core, so as I continued to read this I realized that this story was pretty hard-core. At first, I wasn’t too sure, what I would think about it but the more I read the more I enjoyed it. I suppose that if you were into that scene it would come off very real to you. I was quite surprised that I found that I truly loved this book. Although like many books, there were parts that made me want to smack someone.
Logan is a Sergeant for the SWAT team. He is also a Dominate. When he served in the military, he was introduced into it and found that he enjoyed it and that it was what he wanted in his life. Like many men, he has made his mistakes but he has always tried to fix what he has done wrong. He has been Clay’s commanding officer for over three years, and from the moment he seen him he wanted him. He was afraid at first at how Clay would take the news about him. He wanted this man enough to try at first to be a normal lover without revealing his secret but in time, he knew that in his heart he had to be who he was. Clay started accepting it till one night when he freaked out and left ending their relationship. Crushing Logan’s heart was what Logan had feared would happen.
Clay had always wanted Logan, even enough to try out the BDSM stuff. He had been an addict to alcohol after his brother’s death. He had eventually cleaned himself up and joined the military. When he got out of the Navy, he ended up at the SWAT team. He had noticed Logan then and had wanted him from the start. When he got together with Logan it was sweet and tender, then Logan had told him about who he really is. At first, Clay was okay with it, till one night he had ended up in subspace. To him it was a high feeling and he was scared that was going to be just like when he was drunk or high from drugs. He started questioning certain things and ended it with Logan.
I hated what Logan went through when Clay ended it with him. The pain he felt was intense for him, however once he realized why Clay ended it he understood. Clay was afraid of the control Logan used even at work but had not realized that it wasn’t the same type of control. He had called him sir without thinking and he thought that was what Logan had wanted. He didn’t truly understand what BDSM meant in the true sense. With the help of friends, he started learning more about the lifestyle. Now all he had to do is make up his mind or completely end it with the man he loved.
I was amazed with this story and how the lifestyle really does come out. How some people love to control in the bedroom and some even outside of the bedroom. Also, how some people need to give up control completely. I was glad that at the ending Clay realizes Logan loves him more than life itself. He also realized that he loved Logan the same way. The sex between them is so hot that it had me turning up the air conditioner. I can guarantee that if you love hot and sexy men, SWAT team members, the BDSM scene with a lot of excitement then this book is one that you will want.

Purchase Link: http://www.extasybooks.com/serving-simon/ Review: This is a re-release expanded to over twenty thousand words. It was first released in December 2012. I was quite surprised by this story. It was not exactly what I expected but not bad. In fact, I loved it. I do wish that it were a longer story though. I have always loved Caitlin’s stories. She gives you characters that you can fall in love with and this one has a twist to the ending. It was amazing story.
Max is a top-notch surgeon who is starting to burn out. He is getting the shakes, is tired all the time, and just wearing himself down. It is leading the point that his roommate Simon is getting worried. Simon has wanted his roommate from the moment he moved in. He is a Dom, not so much into pain though. He wants Simon and knows that this man needs to let down his control and give it over to someone else. He plans to be that person that Max gives it too.
Now all he has to do is to tell Max about it. He has one more secret but he doesn’t have plans to let that one go. He is in to controlling things, but can he control his own body to not betray his secret. It is until one night of full-blown passion when that secret is let out. Now will Max fear him, or want him even more
This is an amazing story about dominates and submissives. It is also about the trust one places on another. I love this type of story. It brings things forward with certain forbidden thoughts. If you love dominates and submissives, two hot and sexy men, the love felt by others, vampires and control then this is going to be the book for you.

Gorgeous, stunningly hot rock-star and equally drool-worthy bodyguard; addictions to alcohol and drugs with seriously realistic repercussions packing one hell of an emotional punch; lots of kinky, domineering, controlling and breath-taking (pun intended) sex that drives you out of your mind with the carnal and sensuous eroticism it packs. These are the ingredients of this exiting book and trust me when I say that this was one hell of a ride I didn’t expect.
Truth is I feared this would be just another one of “those” books, that generate the same old theme with nothing new to give, and I was a bit apprehensive of it when I started reading. But, really, I should’ve known that both authors wouldn’t simply write a trivial story. This book is so much more than that. The view and life of the rock stars when they are off the stage and all lights are off is amazing. The needs they have, the tiredness they feel, the choices they make, everything is charged with realistic-feeling emotions that do not fail to turn you inside out, drain you out of everything, only to recharge you with new feelings of hope, happiness and eroticism in the end.
The characters, Jordan, Jase, and Daniel are… the best description I can find for them is raw. They are humane, they are flawed to the bone, and they are geniuses who drown in their own brilliance. Their strengths and weaknesses are sublime and you can’t help but feel a number of emotions for each of them.
I loved Jordan, I hated Jordan, and I pitied Jordan. His love for both Jase and Daniel was heart breaking and it managed to do just that, break my heart a bit in the end.
Daniel; he just killed me. I managed to re-live the same emotions I used to feel about a number of extremely talented people who simply throw their life away, and/or can’t find the strength to go on despite their brilliance.
But Jase, I think he was my favorite character, though I hated his guilt to no end. He made me happy, he made me horny (yes, he did) he made me cry, he made me mad.
In the end, what I’m trying to say I that these authors manipulated their characters to the max of their strength in order to deliver an incredible story that lacked nothing. It felt too real, it felt too raw, and it definitely felt too hot.
If I wasn’t so emotionally drained by the end of this story, I think this book would’ve taken a good 4.5 hearts from me, but I just couldn’t handle it all. While I had fun, and I loved the BDSM aspect more than I can say, I couldn’t handle the emotional roller coaster that came within the blink of an eye. The highs and the lows of the story were too close to each other and I constantly felt unbalanced while reading it, not being able to set for one bit in a particular emotion, and that was what in the end took a heart from my rating.
Overall though I found it an amazing book, incredibly well written and worthy of your selves. Strongly recommended for those who love a love story that takes lots of work to stand and survive.
Title: Exodus Series: Heaven Corp, #2 Author: CC Bridges Genre: Science Fiction / Angels & Demons / BDSM Length: Novel (200 pages) ISBN: 978-1-62798-531-4 Publisher: Dreamspinner Press (March 3rd, 2014) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥3 Hearts Reviewer: Thommie Blurb: Henry “Hank” Abraham’s privileged status in the floating city of Heaven lets him flout Morality Laws that control the lives of others. But when he wakes up in the arms of another stranger, only bodyguard Ian Caldwell’s quick thinking saves his life.
Though Ian’s from the low levels and the labor class, he’s used to dealing with the pampered society of Heaven. He’s assigned to protect Hank while angels, cybernetically modified humans who defend Heaven, investigate the assassination attempt. Doing his job means Ian must ignore his growing interest in Hank. Acting on their mutual attraction would certainly get Ian reprogrammed, something neither of them can afford.
When Hank follows Ian to a popular BDSM club in Downside and his ID chip is lost during a nearly fatal mugging, he finds himself locked out of Heaven. As Ian fights to get them home, rumors of impending war begin to circulate—along with more troubling news that Ian is wanted for Hank’s murder. While struggling to keep the man he has come to love safe, Ian must find out who’s behind the plot and if it’s a catalyst for war or just a convenient excuse.
Review: This was a book whose world-set caused many, many questions in me. The basic society set up is the classic element of how rich people are viewed against the less fortunate.
Hank has everything he wants and leads a life that has no purpose besides partying all night long. When his life is endangered by assassinations attempts though, Ian, his bodyguard saves him time and again. Hank is used to getting what he wants, but there is simply one thing he can’t get his hands on, Ian. For Ian pursuing anything with Hank could mean losing everything he has achieved. Having male-male intercourse is against the law, but Ian’s lifestyle is even more dangerous than that. Being a Dom is not easy in Heaven, so Ian often travels Downside to Hell to sate his cravings.
When Hank follows him there it’s both the best thing he could do, and the very worse, for while he avoided being killed in his own apartment by doing so, both Ian and Hank are trapped Downside with assassins the last thing on their mind. They are in danger if they stay, but in greater danger if the go back too.
The plot is not challenging, yet it still remains interesting. I admit to have been charmed by it and reading it with great curiosity. It was evident from the beginning who was behind the murder attempts. Still the action was fun. Perhaps it was the most enjoyable thing in this book.
The world-set is what rather blew my mind. It was a very interesting idea what with angels being computerized humans, made of high-tech, floating cities that were called Heaven, different tiers on the Heaven’s society, politics that made even the notion of the most peaceful place a pit of hyenas and cobras set on poisoning and turning against each other. The classic angels are non-existent here and I admit that it intrigued me. God AI? Heh, it definitely had a ring about it. However, it begged for more questions. We see that Angels are humans wiped out of emotions and loaded with high-tech. So what are the Demons? Why were the demons depicted as the classic ones, with leathery wings, horns and golden eyes? Angels gained their power from technology, but where did Demons take their power from? Heaven was created after the old Earth was destroyed by greed or whatever, so humans were forced to build floating cities, the rich went higher and the laborers who built the cities remained on the lower tiers with the very unfortunate people remaining on “Hell” aka Earth. The angels abandoned the fight for earth and literally left it behind to the demons…
Still I insist on knowing where did the Demons come from in first place? How were they summoned? From where? If God was AI, who is Megatron? What was Anael, why was she so unique (I’m smelling intrigue here)? Who is behind these mysterious figures? Who created them in first place? And most importantly, what was the cause behind the angels’ reaction in the end of this story?
Questions, questions, questions… I wonder if I’ll get an answer for them, and frankly, this is the only thing keeping me intrigued and wanting to read the next book, because as it is, this entire thing is full of holes, and the intimate parts of it quite failed. I wonder if I should go there. I just need to point out for the author’s benefit as well, that having a sex scene between two people ending in about a couple of minutes to mere seconds every time is not fun. Especially when the BDSM element is thrown there and one of them is a total virgin at the scene, including the “morality” brainwashing of years, finding pain as erotic so suddenly, it was just too hasty and hazy, while it required a lot of developing. In any case, the romantic thing between Ian and Hank could have been dealt much, much better. As it was, it failed for me.
But, you’ll notice how I still have 3 Hearts for this book. I liked despite all the above. I liked the action and I want more, and if you don’t count, the sex scenes I liked the whole flirting and chasing that went between this pair so, there. I hope the next one covers my curiosity though.
