Anyone But You

by

Brien Michaels

Murder is one hell of a drag.

Jack Kieza has a problem. He’s deeply attracted to men, but his homophobic family has left him too afraid to act on it. With his thirtieth birthday around the corner, his curiosity gets the best of him, and he finds himself at a gay club. After spending a fiery night with drag queen Sheila Saltue, everything changes. Especially when he discovers her alter ego: his boss, Ryan Swift.

Ryan knew he should’ve said no the second Jack approached him. Now he can’t stop himself from texting Jack every chance he gets. But Jack won’t let him take the wig off during sex, and being Sheila off-stage is wearing thin.

The more time they spend together, the more intense their feelings get, but Jack isn’t ready to date a man yet. When drag queens start turning up murdered, it forces Jack to reexamine his feelings, because what if Ryan is next? While Jack wants their burgeoning relationship to work, it would mean having to admit who he is to the world. And that’s an idea as frightening as death.

Blurb: Jonathon de Mountford’s visit to Merrychurch village to stay with his uncle Dominic gets off to a bad start when Dominic fails to appear at the railway station. But when Jonathon finds him dead in his study, apparently as the result of a fall, everything changes. For one thing, Jonathon is the next in line to inherit the manor house. For another, he’s not so sure it was an accident, and with the help of Mike Tattersall, the owner of the village pub, Jonathon sets out to prove his theory—if he can concentrate long enough without getting distracted by the handsome Mike.

They discover an increasingly long list of people who had reason to want Dominic dead. And when events take an unexpected turn, the amateur sleuths are left bewildered. It doesn’t help that the police inspector brought in to solve the case is the last person Mike wants to see, especially when they are told to keep their noses out of police business.

In Jonathon’s case, that’s like a red rag to a bull….

Review: Truth Will Out is the first book in the Merrychurch Mysteries by KC Wells. Wells is an author that I’ve read a number of books in the past and have found them on the whole enjoyable and well written. I’ve actually heard the audio of this book some months ago – I don’t remember when – but at the time I wasn’t aware that it was part of the series. I remembering really getting into the story and it was great to actually read it for myself.

Overall, this was a really cool story and I think was greatly enhanced by listening to the audio. I feel that this is a book that I’ve got more out of it by listening to the audio – and the fabulous performances that brought the characters to life – than I would have reading the book.

There is a definite “British Mystery” feel to it, as in that there’s a murder in the small village but surely “it was nothing but an accident, I’m sure”. I probably have watched too many of said British Mysteries on television, and I’m not ashamed to say that Hot Fuzz is one of my favourite comedy movies. And not to mention that I figured out the plot of the story, mostly because I was thinking, “this reminds of the Doctor Who episode The Unicorn and the Wasp”. Yeah, I’m a nerd and I barely had to think to remember the name of the episode, whatever.

The story starts with Jonathon de Mountford. He goes to visit his uncle, the present Lord de Mountford at the family’s country seat/property. He has a lot of guilt for not seeing his uncle, whom he had been so close to as a kid. But the years and his career as a famous photographer sent him on a whirlwind journey that he has loved. Of course, his father, who heads the family law firm, is disappointed in Jonathon not only because he’s gay but also because he didn’t go into law and sees photography as nothing but a hobby. So clearly the guy has baggage and his life is about to get a whole lot more complicated, first when he meets local bar owner Mike Tattersall, and then goes to find his uncle and ends up finding him dead in his study.

Mike Tattersall moved to the quiet village of Merrychurch in the English countryside after losing his foot ended his career as a police officer in London. Now he owns the village pub (and oh my god! This just makes me think of watching Heartbeat with my mum when I was home sick from school). He moved to be closer to his recently divorced sister and has made something of a life for himself, even if he is lonely. Mike isn’t in the closet, though he doesn’t advertise his sexuality. He was also very much out when he was a policeman, and got his own set of baggage from that as well as dealing with his sister.

Jonathon and Mike have an instant connection. Their chemistry has been written perfectly. The sparks start to fly instantly, but they have a lot of learning to do together before anything can get too serious. On top of that, Jonathon and Mike can’t resist getting involved in the local to mystery, trying to piece together all the clues to solve what happened to Jonathon’s uncle.

I recommend this to anyone that wants a light-hearted romance with a good dose of adventure and mystery. I’m really looking forward to reading the second book in this series really soon!

Reviewer: Lisa

Review: Harrison was in a pickle. His father was as crazy as one could think. He was killed in an explosion not to long ago and left his son the company he created, on one condition. He was to marry before the year was up or the company was sold to the people. His uncle wanted to bring in a bodyguard but he wasn’t having it. That was until he was attacked.

Ryder didn’t hate rich men but he certainly put them all in one list. He had been married to one and now divorced, so he was a bit single minded. Now his boss and friend wanted him to guard one. However he had not expect Harrison to be what he was. A sweet and sexy man with a heart of gold.

While it is an action packed story with a few twists to it, the characters were to easy. It gave you two guys who could be the one behind it and lets face it, many would have figured it out right from the start. So there was no surprise to it. The romance was a slow burn and lets face it the guys were hot. However the connection one feels when two meet was not really all that hot. It left something out for me. The guys were a bit on the boring and gave the exact responses one would expect. No surprise there with them. Ryder wasn’t the bodyguard I expected, he was a bit to loose in it. I was a bit disappointed in them.

Overall I did enjoy the story and hope the second book is harder to figure out who the bad guy is. I want more of a mystery to a mystery.

Ghost/god Wes Cooper and his not-life partner, vampire Hudson Rojas, have settled into cohabitation in an upscale part of Toronto. So what if their hoity-toity new neighbors haven’t exactly rolled out the welcome mat for the paranormal pair? Their PI business is booming, and when a suspect they’ve been tailing winds up in the morgue, it’s alongside a rash of other shifters in apparent drug-related fatalities.

Now Wes and Hudson must connect the dots between the shifter deaths and an uptick in brutal vampire attacks across the city. Throw in a surprise visit from Hudson’s niece—who may or may not be on the run from European paranormal police (who may or may not exist)—and guardianship of a teen shifter who might be the key to solving the whole mystery (if only she could recover her memory), and Wes and Hudson have never been busier…or happier.

But when a nightmare from Hudson’s past comes back to haunt him, their weird, little found family is pushed to the brink. Mucking this up would mean Hudson and Wes missing their second chance at happily-forever-afterlife…

Blurb: I’ve investigated some pretty strange cases in my life, but I have to say this is a first. A corpse—a murder victim—has gone missing during the middle of an investigation, and no one has any clue where it went. Psy is called in to clear the investigative team, make sure they’re not an accomplice. It’s a four hour drive outside of Nashville, to a place famous for being haunted, so none of us are particularly eager to go.

And then we arrive on scene and I see who we’re dealing with and I want nothing more than to turn around and go right back to Nashville.

This case is complicated and strange, and absolutely nothing is as it seems at first glance. Even with my eyes, it’s going to take some digging to get to the truth.

ISBN: B07VZ8ZKH2

Product Link: Amazon US | Amazon UK

Reviewer: Lisa

Review: Finding out what happened to a corpse shows that the past doesn’t stay where it belongs. Someone from Jon’s past has appeared once more and lets hope it leads to the perfect outcome. Lets not forget Donovan definitely does have a fear of ghosts as in hell no. Garrett is definitely a big hit with everyone and Jon’s love life is on the right track.

I miss going to haunted houses and this one seems to have them in spades or so it seems. We also get to see the best blowup ever, say bye bye to a jackal. Now you just have to figure out who I am talking about because I am definitely not going to say. I could go without drama but it seems to have the perfect place in this story.

Our characters are quirky and lovable to be around. I do want to see Sho and Garrett’s relationship, they are going to burn the sheets. I am not really seeing a lot of the magic side of the coin but there is still some there. They actually got to use some good old fashion police work in this one. An old case is solved and they are on the way to having life perfect. And I don’t remember Jon getting shot or stabbed in this one so that is a big win. As much as I love these stories I will admit that there is so much potential that is not being used in these stories. There is so much that could be done with them but so far it is not there.

I enjoyed reading this and can’t wait to see what the next book has going on. My attention was captivated throughout the story and would definitely admit that these are stories that will be read many times over.

Blurb: Former helicopter pilot Maverick Delgardo’s injuries ended his Air Force career, leaving him bit-ter and one drink away from becoming an alcoholic. When his sister asks for his help on a pri-vate protection case to babysit a disgraced pop star, Mav reluctantly agrees.

Deacon Daniels, onetime lead singer and idol to his teenage fans, saw his career and reputation ruined when a reporter’s exposé led to a devastating scandal. Without money or a job, a heart-broken Deacon has lost custody of his baby niece. And just when Deacon thinks his life can’t get any worse, a stalker’s threatening messages escalate to murder.

Mav only agreed to one meeting, but his protective instincts kick in, along with an attraction to Deacon. When the body count increases, however, Mav is unsure he is up to the task of pro-tecting Deacon from a killer. But it is too late for Mav to step away, now that he’s lost his heart, and he must find the strength to reassure Deacon and his niece that they are in safe hands no matter the cost.

Review: In Safe Hands is a standalone novel by Victoria Sue, with the audio narration performed by Michael Pauley. Both the author and the narrator are people whose work I know and am aware of, although I couldn’t tell you anything from the top of my head. Honestly, I was just intrigued by the blurb. I was sucked in by a down on his luck celebrity, a cute kid and a tough former Air Force helicopter pilot turned bodyguard. If that’s the type of thing you like as a reader, then I don’t think you got anything to lose by giving this one a go.

Michael Pauley’s narration is great. I really enjoyed listening to him perform this story. I can’t really single anything in particular out, it was overall a very enjoyable listen. I do think that this is the type of book that I would enjoy less if I read because of the emotion and tone given to the reader by the narrator.

The story itself was good. I really did like it, but I think that there were times where it felt a tad bit flat. While I enjoyed the chemistry and interactions between the two MCs, I felt that there were times where I just wanted them to get their shit together. Yet, I also found the MCs really interesting, I loved their individuals flaws and challenges that they have to face, this definitely made for a more enjoyable story.

The story starts with former Air Force pilot Maverick Delgardo. He suffered injuries which ended his career in the Air Force, leaving him scarred and also suffering PTSD. From a long hospital stay and rehab he has had a difficult time adjusting to life outside of the military. He finds himself languishing in his sister’s basement, medicating himself with alcohol to deal with his PTSD. However, his sister, who is an ex-cop and now runs her own business (she has a complicated back story too), wants to bring Mav in (as they had originally planned some time ago) to act as private security. Through her connections, they have been requested to provide security for a celebrity, who has seen his fame decline and reputation ruined from circumstances beyond his control.

That celebrity is Deacon Daniels. And not only has the scandal destroyed his life, leaving him with no money, no job to make money and also in danger of losing his home and all his belongings. Perhaps the worst of it is, it has also led him to losing custody of orphaned his baby niece, who he adores with all his heart. It is absolutely heart breaking when he tries to hide the fact that losing her has hurt him more than he lets on at first.

Mav had been ready to meet the guy and turn him away. An instant attraction and his instincts for danger has him looking into the case more. However, as the guys get to know each other, the attraction gives way to genuine affection. Mav has to get his broken self together so that he can help Deacon find out who is stalking him and get custody of his niece.

Blurb: I’m rather used to the crazy cases, because let’s face it, most cops can handle the run-of-the-mill with their eyes closed. I’m only called in when the situation is weird or they need to solve the case fast.

This case is a little of both.

Someone’s attacking women as they get off of work, hitting them in the back of the head. What started as a case of battery has steadily built up to homicide. With three murders, six victims, and no leads, the Clarksville PD are desperate to catch the assailant. But there’s no real leads for us to follow, either, and for once my eyes can’t really help.

A madman running around attacking women is bad enough, but the police are demanding answers we can’t give them, and they’re not taking no for an answer. It’s pushing us all past our limits, and frankly, I don’t know what’s going to break first: The case or Donovan’s patience.

ISBN: B07STG9BBM

Product Link: Amazon US | Amazon UK

Reviewer: Lisa

Review: Jon is once more involved in a case that is bizarre and deadly. A man is bashing women in the head then taking off. However it is a case that has some surprising twists to it. With multiple victims leading to the death of three it is going to take them into some crazy areas.

Donovan does everything in his power to keep Jon out of danger, but lets face it Jon usually doesn’t have to go far to find himself in that position. He is one of the most powerful magic any one has ever seen and he needs an anchor to make sure he doesn’t get lost.

A police department that definitely has no love for the paranormal and our sexy guys need all the protection or should I say the police officers are the ones that are going to need protection. Donovan definitely doesn’t let anyone talk smack about our cutie pie.

While I loved the book there were some small issues with it. It just seemed to go over certain spots multiple times which was not needed. And the ending was dull and didn’t seem to spark that much attention. Other than that it was a good read that kept my attention throughout. So much so that I had started on the next book.

This is a series that I can see myself reading over and over. I enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it.

Blurb: Mystery. Murder. Men in silk stockings. Hollywood nights are heating up.

Hardboiled Los Angeles PI Cain Noble is hired by wealthy and gorgeous Camille Astor to find her husband and a priceless work of art, both of which have disappeared.

At the nightclub owned by Mr. Astor, Cain encounters the mesmerizing Lily Lavender, who has the body of a goddess and the sultry voice of an angel—but is really a young man named Riley who attracts trouble like a magnet.

What’s a private dick in the vein of LA’s bygone era and a cross-dressing burlesque starlet to do when faced with the hidden decadence and lethal dangers of the Hollywood Hills? They have their work cut out for them because they haven’t even scratched the surface of an elaborate scheme more twisted than anyone could ever have imagined.

Review: Femme Faux Fatale is a standalone book by Susan Laine, published as part of the Dreamspun Desires line. The narration of this story was performed by John Solo.

I’ve read the story before, I already knew what I was in for the most part, and while I did have problems connecting with the MCs when I read the book, I had started the audio with the hope that Solo’s wonderful narration would add a depth to the story that I missed while reading. In fact, I had been somewhat disappointed that I didn’t enjoy reading the book more than I had because I have enjoyed almost all of Susan Laine’s books I’ve read in the past.

In the stereotypical way that seems to be the world of a PI in literature, we start with hardened and eternally tired PI Cain Noble. He’s a PI based in LA and the city serves up a constant stream of work for him. When we meet him he gets hired by Camille Astor to find her husband and a work of art. And let’s face it, when priceless art is involved you know that there is going to be some serious shit go down. Astor’s husband, Sheridan, owns a club and that is Cain’s first port of call and despite being gay, Cain finds performer Lilly Lavender strangely alluring. Only to then find out that Lily is in fact a man named Riley who seems to get in trouble at every turn, but more than anything wants to find Sheridan who he considers a friend.

As we make our way through the LA and the story, it feels like this could almost be the stereotypical 1930s-era PI tale where the hero solves the mystery and gets romanced along the way.

While I will admit that I really do think that Solo’s narration added to the book and I found myself dragged into the plot a lot more than I recall being pulled in by reading the book, I felt that I still lacked some connection to the main characters. I’m now wondering if it is also to do with the writing style, which is a little different to Laine’s usual and again I think that goes back to the whole 1930s private dick vibe. I liked Cain and Riley in terms of their personality, they were both a bit quirky, and they were certainly well developed with a definite spark between them that makes the romance natural.

I recommend this is for people that enjoy reading a dark, gritty, urban mystery where the city seems to become a wild jungle. It seems like a good metaphor for LA at any rate and makes me think of The Doors song LA Woman.

Review: Lucas is a firefighter used to running headlong into danger to save those trapped in a fire. When a raging inferno spreads to a supposedly uninhabited area he and his crew are tasked with making sure no one is there. Owen and his daughter Mia are on the run from the man who desperately wants them back. Federal agencies are also looking for them so Owen can testify against the man looking for him.

One life saving encounter follows both men on the run for their lives as Lucas tries to keep Owen and Mia safe. I loved this story. There were dangerous situations around every corner. Shootouts galore as Owen and Lucas stay on the move. Corruption and a double cross I never saw coming led to one amazing read that had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.

I don’t know what else I can say without giving too much away. Read the book you will not be disappointed.

Fantastic read and highly recommended.

Purchase Link: NineStar | Amazon US | Amazon UK

Reviewer: Pixie

Review: Hunter is a physician’s assistant at a hospital in the rough part of the city, he has avoided entanglement with men for the past several months for a very good reason but the front desk clerk, Shawn, has managed to crack Hunter’s shell and draw his interest. Shawn is on the run, he’s hiding from the law to protect himself and those he loves he can’t get involved with anyone but Hunter appeals to him in a way no one has before. Their attraction to each other explodes after a tense hostage situation, and no longer able to deny his passion Shawn can no longer rebuff Hunter. Just as things are looking up Shawn’s past explodes into the present, and Shawn has a choice to make: continue to run or protect his lover from the man who framed him for murder.

Hmmm this is a great suspense/thriller with a good dose of passion and a dash of romance. Hunter has had a hard year, his last relationship ended in violence and his guilty feelings are eating away at him. He’s avoided having his heart engaged by sticking to one night stands and booty calls but it hasn’t stopped him from becoming enthralled with the front desk clerk at the hospital where he works.

Shawn has avoided getting close to anyone while he has been on the run, getting involved with Hunter is not an option but the fear and adrenalin after being held hostage has the passion between them exploding. One encounter is not enough and Shawn keeps going back for more until his past catches up with him and the eyes of a killer are drawn to Hunter.

I have to admit that as I started reading this story that I wasn’t sure what to expect, we are initially led to believe that Shawn is already in a relationship so I was wary of continuing but I am glad that I stuck with it as what we initially learn is later disabused with the truth. Hunter is a great character whose caring heart has him wanting to help even when things look dour, Shawn is a great man who has fallen foul of some unscrupulous men, he’s running for his life and he may be under the radar but he sticks to legit means to do it.

Their passion is explosive and even as Shawn tries to back away he just can’t. Their relationship is very quick to start after a lot of dancing around each other, and you can tell that they both want more than just a series of one night stands. Their relationship is only just beginning even as the story ends so we just might get another story out of this great couple.

The actual storyline is pretty gripping as we are very slowly fed Shawn’s story with tidbits of information, and we discover it all in the shape of a letter written to Hunter explaining everything. As you can guess the story is from Hunter’s view point but you can fully imagine by Shawn’s actions the pure fear and hopelessness of his situation. There’s plenty of action littered throughout the book and I’m not even gonna comment on the bad guys except to say that a fiery pit in hell is too good for them. This really is a great suspense/thriller, it’s well written and while there’s a romance it isn’t a sweet building one, it’s one that is built during fraught times so don’t expect it to follow normal guidelines of relationships, it starts with sex and secrets and we have no clue which way it will go as we are led down a well-crafted story.

I have to recommend this to those who love thrillers and suspense, who love relationships being embarked on during difficult times, who love action and danger, who love gripping stories of men done wrong and love man who will do anything for the men they are coming to love.

Nancy J. Hedin

Lorraine Tyler should be in vet school, but she stayed behind in her home town of Bend, Minnesota to care for her nephew, spend time with her lover, Charity, and give her momma a chance to complete nursing school.

Lorraine is content until her momma brings home a steady stream of bachelors to straighten her out. Charity is out of town more and more, and Lorraine’s brother-in-law is looking for a new mom for Little Man. To make matters worse there’re new people in town. A politician is drumming up fear and hate, a social worker is flirting with Lorraine, and Lorraine’s new friend, Ricky, is beaten into a coma.

Lorraine suspects Ricky was beaten because of being gay. Lorraine is determined to find out who did it, protect Ricky from the hater who might try to finish the job, and she’s worried she might be next on the hater’s list.

Stray is a story of politics fueling hate, competing romantic interests, and regular people examining their hearts, souls, and hormones. Will the people of Bend harbor the fear-rattled haters of some, or will they provide sanctuary for all?

Warning: homophobic violence and slurs

Review: Remington is one hell of a detective who has just been thrown into a case that was not what he had expected. A killer who is called the Professor just wanting to kill and find out how it felt to play with the body. And Grayson who works for the Federal Paranormal Unit but he is also a god. Sounds like a bad joke but Remington and Grayson are determined to find out who is behind this. While Remi is trying to keep his attention off Grayson.

This story was different. Remi is not only jaded but damn the man is cranky. He can also be a hard ass, but one kiss from Grayson and the steam just rolls all over. I am not really sure why it is called a paranormal story other than the fact that Grayson is a god and the first girl that was killed was a low level witch. They didn’t really do anything to make the paranormal part stand out in this story.

The killings and the fact that it was actually told from the killers voice was just a bit creepy. However like I said above the story was like some cop shows I have read with just a paranormal twists. I didn’t care for how fast and mushy Grayson was, for one he is god, yet he came off different. There was no word of matings, so I am guessing it was just sex and love. However it felt rushed to me. Remington was well defined in the story but you just hear parts of Grayson’s story, so that made the story rocky.

Now the story itself with the murders and the way the man just kept teasing them was pretty crazy and I actually found myself liking it. It had quite a bit of errors that I found, but lets just say that these authors would make a mint with murder stories. I would say that character development needs to be worked on. However as strange as it sounds I actually liked the story enough to read it twice before doing this review.

It doesn’t sound like it but I did like the story quite a bit. I hope we see more of the paranormal side of things in the next book.

Blurb: More than nineteen years ago, ATF special agent, Kane Delancey, witnessed his father’s murder at the hands of an enforcer for the Boston mob. He put his past behind him when he and his family entered the witness protection program. Now, many years later, the murderer he testified against, is about to go free on a technicality. The FBI and US Marshals are asking Delancey to go undercover to help to stop the killer before he has the chance to tap his son as successor.

Luca Price is a fun-loving young jewelry store manager with a bright future ahead of him. After a robbery, he suddenly comes face to face with a man who takes his breath away. Kane Delancey is big, brawny, and downright alpha male, everything Luca’s ever dreamed of. When their attraction strays from the professional, Luca hopes for so much more but there’s no way he’s going to be forced to live life in the closet for anyone, no matter how perfect the man is.

Kane has been straight all his life. He can’t imagine a scenario where he’d want to take a guy to bed, much less form an intimate relationship with one. Then he meets Luca Price, stunningly beautiful, smart, and sweet in a charming way that has nothing to do with him being gay. When Luca’s path crosses with the man Kane is chasing, Delancey is suddenly faced with a different challenge… keeping Luca and his own family alive while trying his best to end the murderer’s legacy.

Review: Kane is given an assignment to go undercover as a dirty cop with the LAPD to take down Brandon and Enoch Moore. While undercover he meets Luca Price, the manager of a jewellery store that is robbed. Luca sends Kane’s thoughts and feelings in a tailspin. Kane is straight or so he’s always believed.

Kane was a massive roller coaster ride of emotions. I felt the way he treated Luca was unfair as it was not Luca’s fault Kane was attracted to him. It surprised me that Luca even gave him the time of day when Kane keeps running into him.

While trying to figure out his feelings for Luca Kane is also trying to keep ahead of a criminal mastermind and keep his head. Lots of drama, sexy moments between Kane and Luca as well as suspense draw the reader into an interesting story.

Fantastic read.

Review: This story is a branch off from Stonewall Investigations and I would suggest starting with that series first. Trust me you won’t be disappointed.

Fox has been out of the military for a while and is working his very first case at the agency. Stonewall Investigations has finally opened in Miami and he is not only one of the best detectives but the head detective. The case involves a pretty nasty drug that kills pretty much half of the users and started in one of his friends clubs. He is determined to find out who is behind it but when he finds out he might just wish he hadn’t. He might just need a bit of help, so lets ask the sexy man coming in for an interview.

Jonah was a brilliant detective for the police force until he was shot in the head. He was left with a few problems that might just end deadly for him. Then there is his bitchy girlfriend who so needs a boot to the ass. He needs a do-over in his life, so the job at Stornewall Investigations might be the best thing for him. That and the sexy as sin detective interviewing him. Now he has a few more questions to ask himself.

As always Max has done a wonderful job giving a great read. I only had a few issues with it. One is the girlfriend but that is obvious and I would like to put my own boot up her butt. But really the story was so focused on the love life, sexuality and hot scenes that it was hard to keep who the guys truly were. I kept getting them mixed up. Also there was the fact that it took away from the mystery itself. I was glad the guys hit it off and fireworks were in the air, but I really chose the story for the mystery and suspense so I felt a little disappointed in that part. Also the fact that the guys pushed themselves but I felt that Fox was a bit to pushy for a new guy to realize he was gay. It just seemed rushed.

Overall it was a great start to a new series and I was glad to see the original detectives show up at the party. I love how this author can give you a serious tone to it but that there is quite a bit of humor running through it. I liked the guys quite a bit and can’t wait to see what will happen in future stories. I do hope for more mystery and suspense though, really want a good juicy story to make a day interesting.

I had a blast reading this book and would definitely recommend it.

Review: Video store owner Noah decides to get his overdue videos back only to discover the man, guy, is dead. Or is he. Along with his good friends and neighbors Marc and Louis they set out to determine what exactly is going on.

This story is dramatic. The riots in LA in the nineties was devastating and is brought to life in this murder mystery. The details were amazing, the writing fabulous and the overall story amazing. I felt as though I was there with the guys as they traversed through the clues.

The humor and closeness of these three men was comfortable. I really enjoyed the entire story from start to finish and am anxious to dive into the second book which I will dive into as soon as I finish this review.

Great read.
