Nights in the roaring city remind bright young things that life’s too short to take for granted. Tucked away in Times Square hides the Pantheon: a secret cabaret for wealthy gay men. Pretty young men in elaborate costumes and rouged lips are eager to please, and the champagne flows all night long. It’s a world of frivolity, fantasy, and debauchery. As Eros, the most sought after performer at the Pantheon, Julius uses his beauty and charm on enthusiastic patrons, but growing weary of superficial love, he longs to make a better life for himself.

Five years after being declared mentally unfit after surviving the trenches of No Man’s Land, Edward Joseph Clarence Junior pieced his shattered life back together. Now he’s ready to take on the family empire. To celebrate his thirtieth birthday, Edward’s cousin takes him to the most posh nightclub in town, the Pantheon. Falling under the sway of Eros, Edward and Julius find a love they’ve never imagined and the chance for a future they had only dared to dream about. But as Ares, a notorious gangster and Julius’s most important—and dangerous— client watches them, the threat to their love and their lives grows by the day.

Blurb: Six years ago, Chaz Savage was on top of the world: Beloved NFL star, filthy rich, great friends — and a man he was close to falling in love with. Lev Chirkoff was smart, funny, sexy and freaking adorable. Then, one night he was gone with no explanation. Chaz is devastated, left wondering what happened to the only man who ever had his heart. Eventually, hurt turns to anger and then to rage. If he EVER sees that man again….

Lev Chirkoff has an impossible job forced on him by the mob boss his father works for. It involves a professional athlete he has worshiped since the first time he saw him, and the very thought of it sickens Lev. He meets Chaz and they seem to be made for each other. Soon, his only plan is falling in love. When a traumatic night forces Lev out of Chaz’s life, he disappears. But Chaz Savage never leaves his heart.

Six years later, Lev returns to Seattle, makes new friends and finds a purpose in life. A Halloween party puts him in Chaz’s orbit again, and unsportsmanlike conduct doesn’t begin to cover the big man’s reaction. With the mob after Chaz, Lev is assigned to protect him as they go into hiding. But Chaz Savage isn’t about to make it easy for the man who devastated him. Once old feelings stir, he finally has a chance to discover the truth of Lev’s betrayal. Lev falls even more deeply for the man who is so much more than just a football star — but surely his secret will only cost him Chaz’s love forever.

They say it takes a village, but in this case it’s a reservation — and as Chaz and Lev come to an uneasy peace, they discover that the people around them are more than willing to give their lives for the safety of their family.

Review: Chaz Savage had it all, a successful NFL career and budding relationship with one sexy little Russian, Lev Chirkoff. The closeted football player starts to turn heads turning up everywhere with Lev, but he assures everyone they are just good friends. But that was then, and this is now, now Chaz is a firefighter and one of the few humans that are privy to the true heritage of the Skullblasters unit. But he still loves Lev, misses him, and thinks about that man every damn day.

Six years ago, Lev Chirkoff made a deal with the devil that cost him the man he loved. Now back in Seattle as the newest recruit for the elite Skullblasters unit of Assassin’s and Shifter’s, Lev is brought face to face with that man. And it’s anything but a warm welcome. Chaz knows about the team, about the wolves, his best friend was saved by one, and fell in love with one before becoming one. So he can’t wrap his brain around Lev thinking he would not love him because he’s a shifter. But Chaz doesn’t know the whole story, and Lev fears losing him all over again once he tells Chaz the truth.

Lev has lost everyone and everything in his life that mattered and subsequently secluded himself in Siberia while he learned to control his wolf. He knows that returning to Seattle will open old wounds, but he didn’t expect the wash of emotions when he sees Chaz for the first time in six years. Chaz is angry, no volatile is a better term, but there is still love in the depths of those sad angry eyes. Lev as well reacts to Chaz invading his space immediately. He still wants this man more than anything.

There is a lot to resolve, but it doesn’t take either man long to realize that they still love each other. That they never stopped loving each other. They will have to share everything, even the painful truths, and deal with them to get beyond their own hurt and face the oncoming threat now seems intent on getting Chaz as well as the team’s young charges, the Olympians. Lev just got him back, he refuses to lose Chaz again, but sometimes fate has other plans.

Classic Sandrine! Colourful storylines, witty dialogue, passionate love and a group of men and shifters that will protect each other and their own with such ferocity that it’s downright frightening. As each of these new books progress, there is a sister story for the Twelve Olympians series, but everything always ties in together. And we are starting to see more and more characters within each story as the threat from Petey and the Rogues grows closer. I love how Sandrine focus’ on the current pairing, but always manages to make sure we stay in contact with favourites and give us a juicy morsel of some fun pairings to come.

This is a must read series, still my favourite M/M series, I love how the author manages to continually bring us something fresh twenty something books in. You MUST start at the beginning, seriously, you must. Each new instalment is just one piece of a very large puzzle that you have to have an outline for first, and then add the pieces as they fit. Another success for Sandrine Gasq-Dion and the Skullblasters!

Dangerous Wish

(Uniform Encounters 06)

by

Morticia Knight

Love is a dangerous emotion that EMT Jared won’t risk. But it looks as though a sweet and sexy National Guardsman is about to make him wish for that—and much more.

EMT Jared Li loves his job, his friends and clubbing. There’s nothing like a night of fun getting glammed up, throwing on some heels and shaking his ass to the latest Britney tune. Life is all about having a good time with as many hot guys as possible.

Dan Harrison has been in the National Guard for about six months and out for not much longer than that. At twenty-two, he’s somewhat innocent, a little shy and not interested in meaningless hook-ups. One night at a karaoke bar changes everything for him when his fellow Guardsman Joseph introduces him to his friend Jared. Dan’s never met anyone like the luscious twink who’s filled with so much life and laughter.

A night of passion shakes them to their very cores. Jared really likes Dan, but doesn’t want to get caught up in any type of exclusive thing. Dan wishes there could be more between them, but is willing just to be friends in order to remain near the androgynous stunner.

Hanging out strictly as friends proves to be almost impossible for them both. Not only does Jared continuously lust after the muscular soldier, but he’s also falling for the caring and compassionate man. Dan’s every sex fantasy stars Jared in one of his daring club outfits, but his heart is what really matters and it’s already been lost to Jared.

A traumatic event breaks down the barriers between them and gives them the chance to be together the way they both want. But after Dan is called up by the Guard to assist at a natural disaster, the same bravery that Jared admires in Dan might be the final thing that separates them forever.

Blurb: At twenty-six, Gordon Stafford figures his days are numbered. At least he hopes they are. Wearied by guilt and regret stemming from a horrific automobile accident two years earlier in which a man was killed, Gordon wakes up every morning with thoughts of suicide. While the law puts Gordon to work atoning for his sins, personal redemption is far harder to come by.

Then Squirt—a simple homeless man with his own crosses to bear—saves Gordon from a terrible fate. Overnight, Gordon finds not only a new light to follow, and maybe even a purpose to his life, but also the possibility of love waiting at the end of the tunnel.

Gordon never imagined he’d discover a way to forgive himself, and in doing so, open his heart enough to gain acceptance and love—from the very person he hurt the most.

Purchase Link: http://www.dreamspinnerpress.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=5188

Review: Gordon Stafford was young and successful, had his whole life to live, until one stupid mistake change not only his life, but also the lives of everyone involved in the accident. Two years later he is broken, depressed and working off his community service hours at a local soup kitchen. He visits the grave of the man’s life he took daily, some sort of penance, but he’s still plagued by nightmares and suicidal thoughts. Until he meets the Squirt.

Being jumped at the soup kitchen by three immoral teenagers wanna be thugs, Gordon steps in and saves Squirt, then feeds him. In a manner of minutes, everything in Gordon’s life shifts. His focus, his want to live, and a need to protect Squirt from whatever haunts him. But Squirt is gone by the time Gordon finishes his shift, days later though, Squirt saves Gordon from a terrible fate and unlikely love story takes root.

Gordon can’t forgot that horrible night, the night that he killed a man by texting and driving while he was also slightly intoxicated. The smell of blood on the warm asphalt, the shrill screeching of metal, breaking glass and that ear piercing scream that he still hears ringing in his ears every damn day. Squirt isn’t without his secrets either, the problem is, and Squirt himself doesn’t know what they are. He has scars, but he doesn’t remember how they got there. People call him Jerry, but he doesn’t remember that name, he only knows Squirt, and how much he wants to be with Gordon.

Gordon takes his time, afraid to move too fast and scare Squirt away. But soon enough they are loving each other and living together. But Gordon never tells Squirt about his past, so when he finds out on his own, it triggers something that has devastating consequences for both men.

This was a tragically beautiful love story with a fantastic ending. I laughed, I cried, I shouted at my kindle several times. In the end, it was all worth it. Inman has written a story with one of the most flawed and imperfect characters I’ve ever read in Gordon who did something reckless and life altering, not even realizing at the time that the stretch of the pain would reach as far as it did. And everything and everyone was connected in some way, some of the lines I saw intersecting, but some of the connections were surprising. I do love a great storyline that keeps me guessing!

Well written story with three-dimensional characters that conveyed their part in the story flawlessly. The passion was on point, but not over the top as Squirt was so young, innocent, naive and fragile that Gordon had to handle him with kid gloves. This only made their characters more endearing not only to the reader, but also to each other. The moral story hidden in the words of this book speak volumes as well. Life is short, make the right choices because they can and will come back to you, and they have consequences that will bleed into your future.
Yes, this is a must read.

Review: Country Strong is a very beautiful story of a man and his best friend, his one stability in life, the one thing that gives him reason to carry on in this world.

His horse.

Wyatt is 25 almost 26, cast out at a young age for being gay, has always loved horses and dreamed one day to have his own. Living in the town, working a decent job, he can’t afford to own a horse and finds a farm that leases horses to people who can’t have one of their own. Its win-win for all involved. Wyatt fell in love with his lease horse and with it being an older horse had made an oral rent to own agreement with the owner and in a few months General will be his.

One day while riding it thundered and General shied some causing Wyatt to fall. Kellan a man who trains horses for the owner had dropped off a couple saw Wyatt’s accident and saved him. To Wyatt’s dismay, Alan decided to sell General since he is a teaching horse he couldn’t have him hurting kids.

Wyatt developed an instant attraction to Kellen, even though he is a much older man. Kellen also couldn’t get the younger man out of his mind. Kellen could see how attached Wyatt was to General and bought General to retrain and possibly return so Wyatt could get him back. Not all plans go as expected. Feelings change, new ones develop and complications set in.

I fell in love with Wyatt right away. The passion he had for general was to die for. The story has a great storyline and isn’t nearly as predictable as it seems it may be. There are some soft twists; touching scenes, tight friendship, and conflict and of course some pretty darn hot man-sex. I add Wyatt and Kellen to my favourite couples list for this year.

If you like modern-day westerns, friends to lovers, close friends (M/F-no sex) cowboys, and some touching scenes and of course some sensual hot man-sex this is for you! I would love to see this develop into a series. It has such great promise!

Review: If you are a fan of Charmed, Practical Magic and/or the Double Alchemy series by Susan MacNichol… you will LOVE this book.

The Oswald family Witches are descendants of a long line of powerful witches dating back to the Salem Witch trials. The four of them are strong, fierce, and loyal and squabble like cats and dogs most of the time. Renovation of the family home has fallen on the shoulders of William, the oldest, who is constantly undermined by his siblings Duncan and Jaime, the only girl in this quad. The strained bond between William and Duncan is only surmounted when William starts dating the owner of the company providing the renovations, Rush Harrington.
You see, hundreds of years ago during the trials, the three eldest Oswald brothers were hanged for being witches. William, Oliver and Duncan to which the youngest and only surviving brother, Jaime, fought back against the family that killed his brothers… the Harringtons. And as this story progress’s, you learn that the Oswald’s mother Mia gave them their names for good reason.

William recognizes a bond and an attraction to Rush that is only possible through a bond mates connection. And yet, he fights it every step of the way. Rush is used to being the one in charge, the man on top (pun intended) and getting exactly what he wants. What he wants now is William, their families generations old feud doesn’t apply to them as far as Rush is concerned. But Rush is a human and William fears what will happen if he falls in love, accepts the bond and has to share his family secret. More so, he fears losing Rush when he learns the truth most of all.

This was an action packed, nonstop thrill ride full of emotions, passion and drama. All the while William and Rush are trying to navigate the ever-growing bond between them, the Oswalds’ are fighting a very real threat that wants to eliminate them all. Now William faces the fear of Rush being in danger because of who William is, which only adds to the stress on their budding relationship. But the chemistry they share is impossible to ignore, especially when fate is involved.

Ortiz definitely put in his time researching the craft, the trials and the supernatural aspect of this story. It shows in the finished product and a depth to the story that otherwise wouldn’t have been there. The passion and electricity that is evident between William and Rush just from that first meeting was evident as well.

I loved the constant threat of danger and the ever-present electricity that flowed between characters.
While there were a few typographical errors, I recognized the intensity with which Ortiz writes all of his stories, so the flow and the intrigue never faded. And if you are a fan of Ortiz’s Renovations series, you get to visit with those guys at the end of this story when he ties in the families. This really is a must read, It was long and took me a few hours, but it seriously felt like minutes by the time I reached the end. I saw a LOT of Practical Magic type issues and situations. So again, if you are a fan you’ll seriously love this supernatural story.

Blurb: Welcome to the avian shifter world of Undercover Peckers. Where love is instant the moment you find your mate. Where there’s only one true pecker for every man. Where the sex is so hot it will singe your tail feathers. Where bird watching is both a recreation and a preoccupation—that usually leads to feathers flying.

Simon Spoonwell—intrepid bird store owner and history geek—knows avian shifters exist. With so much myth and lore, there must be a touch of reality. But, he doesn’t expect his proof to come in the form of hottie cop and blue jay shifter Jay Azure. It’s an innocuous ticket for jaywalking that brings them together, but an inescapable attraction, a love of awful puns, and a shared need to protect the vulnerable will make them true mates.

Purchase Link: http://www.dreamspinnerpress.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=5117

Review: Simon Spoonwell has always been fascinated with anything to do with birds. Now he owns his own store called A Bird in Hand.

Jay Azure is a police officer that has a bit of an attitude and temper. He is put on an undercover assignment to bust jaywalkers down town. Immediately meeting Simon jay knows he has found his mate but has no idea how to set out to win him over after thoroughly pissing him off by ticketing him 250 dollars for jaywalking.

So right away, do you see the fun with words? If the title and the cover didn’t alert you that this book was going to be lots of fun and pretty hilarious, this little bit should clue you in. The story is chocked full of bird puns, cute animal scenes and some pretty hot man-sex. I can’t really say much else without giving away any-more details, but I will say it will leave you crowing with laughter. I will definitely be following this fun series!

If you like, bird watching, vegetarians, birds, blue jays, cops, not your usual shifters, humour, bird jokes, and some fairly hot man-sex this is definitely for you!

Blurb: Firefighter Christian Shane, badly scarred from a fire that ravished a city block, runs away from New York to Beacon Cove, hoping to hide away in his family’s beach house. All he wants is to be left alone.

Case Jenkins never met a sexy, muscled stud he liked. They were always jocks and always dicks—plain and simple. He was too much of a nerd and not built like a brick house. But when he sees Christian Shane, he can’t control himself. Nothing worth having ever comes easy, and Case isn’t quite sure he has enough patience. Review: Firefighter Christian Shane is left broken after he was injured and almost killed in a fire. Feeling completely out of sorts, he decides to spend his time off and the rest of his recovery at his family home in Beacon Cove. Case Jenkins as well is seeking solace at the house he bought in the Cove when he won the lottery. He’s secluded himself in an attempt to write a novel, but he is lacking inspiration as of late. That is, until he meets the tall, scarred and lonely man on the beach that is staying in the house next to his.

The attraction is immediate, the chemistry undeniable, but both men are scarred both inside and out and getting close almost proves impossible. They continually come together only to wind up apart after pride, confusion, miscommunication and distrust get in the way. When Christian learns one of his best friends and fellow firefighter has been killed in a fire, a fire that is eerily similar to the strange fire that almost killed Christian, he rushes back to New York, leaving Case behind, hurt and confused once again. But this time, Case decides to stake his claim once and for all and follows.

While the premise for this story had potential and the characters were flawed and believable, the typos and breaks in the story made it difficult to read at times. Everything felt rushed and hectic, not enough time spent in some areas that could have been explored more fully. And the threat was slightly anticlimactic for me. That being said, there were facets of this story that I really enjoyed. The friendships that each man shared, Christian and Mas, Case and Bethany, were endearing and relatable and there was an obvious passion between the two male leads.

This was just an okay read for me.

What he doesn’t realize but Ignatius tells him, is the sacrifice is his innocence and not his life. King wants power and immortality and will get it at any cost even murder. After getting help from the Lamia to track down King and to protect Vanya, they all set out to find the truth about King. Vanya learning that King put everything in Vanya’s name is horrified to learn that King named himself as beneficiary in the event of Vanya’s death. As the story unfolds, we learn of lies and deceptions of King’s and the length’s he’s willing to go to get power as well as who Ignatius really is. Hot sex scenes between Nash and Vanya ignite the pages. The details of Swallows Nest and the cottage were both breathtaking and frightening.

It was an interesting story to read and well written but it felt unbalanced to me. A lot of focus in this book is on Vanya’s thoughts and feelings on different matters. The scenes that involved King seemed rushed with not a lot of details that would have added to the appeal of the story. All in all in it was a good read.

Blurb: Love doesn’t come with a syllabus.

Kelly Davidson has waited what seems like forever to graduate high school and get out of his small-minded, small town. But when he arrives at Hope University, he quickly realizes finding his Prince Charming isn’t so easy. Everyone here is already out. In fact, Kelly could be the only virgin on campus.

Worst of all, he’s landed the charming, handsome, gay campus Casanova as a roommate, whose bed might as well be equipped with a revolving door.

Walter Lucas doesn’t believe in storybook love. Everyone is better off having as much fun as possible with as many people as possible…except his shy, sad little sack of a roommate is seriously screwing up his worldview.

As Walter sets out to lure Kelly out of his shell, staying just friends is harder than he anticipated. He discovers love is a crash course in determination. To make the grade, he’ll have to finally show up for class…and overcome his own private fear that love was never meant to last.

Warning: This story contains lingering glances, milder than usual sexual content for this author, and a steamy dance-floor kiss. Story has no dairy or egg content, but may contain almonds.

Review: This is a perfect happily ever after, not too much angst and suffering, which is surprising for this author. Normally her writing is super edgy, angsty, dark and highly kinky. But it’s pleasant to know her repertoire goes beyond those tasty nuggets into the super sweet, awe shucks, twu-wuv wins out happily ever after. This series is all about discovering yourself, finding help and love in others, creating a community when going off to college, and starting your life. Sweet, fresh outta the closet freshman virgin is stuck rooming with the tomcat of campus and due to Kelley’s morals and Walter’s fear of commitment and abandonment, they steer clear until the sparks can’t be avoided. It’s so damn precious, and a fun loveable read.

Yes, there are plenty of dysfunctional families, but compare to so many in this genre, a little manic depression almost seems mild, almost. But I feel there is a strong personal connection with the mother’s mental illness to the author’s experience here, it’s authentic, and I feel Walter’s guilt and pain.

My favorite part of this story has to be when the sweet apple cheeked virgin seduces the campus man-whore and knocks his socks off! Yep, Kelley’s a virgin, but he knows what he wants and he knows he has Walter by the balls and the heart.

Okay I have another favorite part. The college advisor, aka the prof everyone talks to, is a focus in each of these books. It’s important to believe there are still great professors like this out there. That part of the job is guiding, and supporting your students, not just spewing a lecture, marking down grades and grabbing a paycheck. Everyone has a fond memory of a prof that helped them, inspired them, and mothered them a bit in the right direction, or at least I hope so.

The writing is always smooth with this author, she has good editors, and the woman knows how to pull you in. Yes, there were some areas that my cynical heart wanted to grumble at, but like the Disney movies Kelley is so fond of, you can’t help but like the sweeping romantic gestures and the fact that the boy gets the boy in the end!

Sweet, romantic read, highly recommended to recharge your feel good batteries.

Blurb: A familiar road can still be full of surprises.

Joe Jacek loves his life for the most part. All he ever wanted to do was be a rancher, and that’s what he’s doing. He feels bad that his father didn’t leave the ranch to him and his brother Trent both, but Joe would never short his brother out of his inheritance. Lucky for them, they’re close brothers. They like to hang out in the evenings, get stupid, and then get on with work the next day.

But it can be a lonely life. While Trent is a great brother, he can’t be everything for Joe, and vice versa. Joe would like to get laid sometimes, and living where he does, that’s a rare occurrence. So he drinks and does a little something else now and then. It’s all good—he’s just relaxing.
He knows the road between his house and Trent’s trailer like he knows his own soul. Turning off the headlights one night just to make the drive more exciting isn’t a big deal.

Until a werewolf jumps on his truck. Then the rules for everything change.

Review: Bailey Bradford delivers another awesome story that grabs your attention and doesn’t let go until the very end.

Joe Jacek is a lonely man taking care of his ranch day after day with the help of his younger brother Trent. One late night while on his way back from his brother’s house, Joe encounters something that will change his life forever. Diego is an omega wolf shifter that has been badly abused by his pack. Finally, he can to more and leaves the pack. Knowing if the pack catches him, they’ll kill him, he stays on the run until he encounters Joe. His instincts tell him to keep running but something is pulling him toward Joe.

Diego doesn’t want to put the brothers in danger from his ex pack but he can’t seem to stay away. When Diego is caught in Joe’s house, the meeting is hot and explosive. Eventually trouble comes in the form of his ex pack beta’s that are there to get him back by any means necessary. Diego has to decide to stay and fight or leave and loose the man he loves.

A truly wonderfully written book by Bailey Bradford. The details of the Texas landscape were simply breathtaking. I could actually imagine I was there with Joe and Diego as the story unfolded. Hot, steamy sex between sexy Joe and Diego the handsome shifter, all throughout that set the pages on fire. Danger, mystery, action, drama, surrounds this amazing story. Smoothly flowing words made for a fantastic read.

I have read all Bailey’s books and can say they are all fantastic reads. If you haven’t yet read one of Bailey Bradford’s books then I highly recommend you do so. You won’t be disappointed.

Review: A lion shifter and a hawk shifter are most exciting as an idea, more than enticing and certainly will draw me to read a book. However, I’m now resigned to the fact that when a book with so many elements has such a short length will never be enough for me.

Cesar has been locked away in a lab and tortured. When his value comes to an end he’s taken away to be disposed, but he manages to escape and return for the other lions. A bit too late though as they are already on the way out from the lab, however Cesar has a last stand off with one of the guards leaving him with a bullet in his body and unable to shift. Injured he makes his way in a daze not knowing where he’s heading and lands outside Garret’s restaurant, where he collapses.

When Garret finds him after his shift, it’s clear that he’s found his mate and the timing couldn’t be better. First because his mate needs him and second because Garret has been itchy for a while now for intimacy.

However, troubles never seem to end as the area’s pride’s Alpha can’t tolerate another Alpha in his territory and Cesar will have to work his way around into finding a solution and stay by his mate’s side.

So much information was dumped all at once in this book. Hawk shifter, I’d love to read more about them, the how’s and the why’s and their lore, but that was lacking. The lab situation was hazily explained and the entire events that led Cesar to his freedom were clinically described losing all the potential intensity. Cesar’s issues with being an Alpha and feeling inadequate for the role were overcome as if a magic spell was cast and Cesar’s and Garret’s relationship was merely stated. The chemistry of the mates, their intensity, their passion, and need were too weak to be felt. The pace was too fast for all things to be absorbed and that made me not really get attached to the characters. In addition, the mating bond/claim when it happened was one-sided with our Alpha lion never making his claim and left me wanting. The end when it came was this huge hang up, so abrupt that I had to check twice that this book was over.

Bottom end, while the idea behind the story is quite enticing, the story itself was less than I expected and didn’t manage to take me with it in that magic space where I would have lived in the story instead of simply reading it detached and wondering.

Blurb: Richard Carr has the kind of life most people would envy. Partner in a major Los Angeles law firm, married to the man of his dreams, Richard seems to have it made – except for the lie he’s been living for the past forty-odd years.

On special nights, in the company of kinky friends, Richard disappears inside Renee, his sexy, dominatrix alter ego. Strong, sassy, and flirtatious in her red and black corset, Renee is who Richard truly is on the inside – and who he longs to be outside of the dungeon.

Their one true point of connection remains in the dungeon – in the person of Jase Hewitt, the submissive they both share. But when a devastating tragedy shatters Jase and sends him running to his Masters for comfort, it quickly becomes apparent that Robert’s love for Jase extends far beyond their Dom/sub roles…

And Renee faces a choice – abandon her journey toward becoming the person she truly is inside, or risk losing the man she loves.

Review: Richard Carr, a litigation partner, secretly longs to be Renee full-time. Tired of pretending to be someone he’s not deep down but terrified to come out as well. His husband Robert, an architect, is hesitant but gives him his blessing. So Renee begins hormone treatments unfortunately this causes problems between her and Robert. As Robert wasn’t as comfortable with the actual transformation, as he lead Renee to believe.

It was a very unique story that I have never read before. It broke my heart that Richard struggled so badly with who he yearned to be and what the world wanted him to be. But I’m very glad in the end everything worked out. No one should have to hide who they are inside. Intense dungeon scenes with flogging, whipping, and a very hot sex scene between Robert and Jase, a friend and a future Dom.

All in all, it was a good read.

Review: Everett is the best man at his best friend Irving’s wedding. He is making sure everything is perfect when he meets the bride, Molly’s brother, Jake.

I will say I loved the detail in this story and would have loved to seen this wedding, it sounded so beautiful and romantic. I loved how the Whippoorwill is brought in on the cake and Molly’s dress and how much she loves the history of the bird and feels it brings luck and love. I also wanted to stand in the snow with Everett.

I thought this was a well-executed short story, and very beautiful.

If you like sweet short stories, romantic weddings, and blossoming love this is for you!

Blurb: Mike comes to Moncton wanting nothing more than to play for the Ice Cats and finally live on his own terms. He’s broke, bruised, and covered from head to toe in cheap lube, but he isn’t going to let that stop him. All he needs is a place to live and some time to figure out how to reconcile who he really is with who everyone wants him to be.

Dumping three gallons of lube on the new kid is just another day at the office for Alexei. He knows exactly who he is: a goalie on the ice, a prankster in the locker room, and a man who knows better than to share his private life with anyone. He’s let people in before and it’s taught him that if he can’t have what he really wants, it’s better to be alone.

Despite their apparent differences, an unlikely friendship grows. Neither of them could ever have guessed how much they really have in common.

Review: Mike is the newest recruit for the Ice Cats hockey team. With this position comes the usual hazing upon his arrival from his new team mates, but it’s one team-mate in particular the gets Mike’s blood boiling. When he’s invited to join the guys for beers, he declines, instead heading for a nice hot shower. That’s where the one that makes his heart race finds him. Naked and bruised with tear-stained cheeks.
Alexei is the goalie for the Ice Cats, and the man behind the prank that sent Mike to the showers. He makes a u-turn when headed to the bar and decides to go back and check on his new teammate. Alexei has questions for Mike. Where did those bruises come from? Why was he crying? But the older more experienced man and hockey player decides to instead become the one thing Mike needs now more than anything, his friend.

Over the next few months, Mike makes his mark on the team and he and Alexei grow closer. Neither one has confessed their feelings for the other, but they have settled into a comfortable duality. Over a break they build an apartment for Mike in the warehouse Alexei owns and lives in, and it’s that first night in his new apartment, wall shared with Alexei, that Mike finally opens up to his best friend and roommate about his scars.

This book had my three favorite things in it. Sweaty naked men, Hockey and Romance! Win, Win, BONUS!! Seriously, though, this is the first of Wayland’s books I’ve read but I’m a fan. She managed to find the right balance between passion, love, angst and turmoil to create a hard-hitting story with a slight innuendo to dominance and submission. The details in the descriptives were toe curling, hot, and sensual. This is not only a must read, it’s a keep queued on your device to visit whenever you want!
