Blurb: Caleb Davies and Agni Pradesh are worried about their teammate and lover, Temple Chevalier. Not only has he lost his long-time partner, Fu Li, but he nearly died fighting a demon himself. Also, Temple isn’t sure he’s ready for a new teammate after Li. Caleb and Agni are even more concerned that their three-way relationship with Temple exists less because he loves them and more because he’s hiding from the pain of Li’s loss.

1932 shapes up to be a terrible year for the Soldiers as they welcome the New Year fighting demons and then end up investigating a case that pairs them up with the Knights Templar. This would normally be a good thing, but it forces Temple to face his painful past. Worse yet, the case leads right to Astaroth, a Prince of Hell, who might prove to be an unbeatable foe.

Review: This book three in the Soldiers of the Sun series. Temple is introduced to his new partner Jo, who is the boss’ niece. Temple, Agni and Caleb continue their ménage a trois while Temple is still dealing with his grief about Li. I felt really bad that Temple seemed to be in a deep depression and did not want to talk about what he was going through. Though I understood his reasons for wanting sex with Caleb and Agni as a way to cope with the pain he should have discussed things with them as well.

I did not know how quite to take Jo’s character through the book. She was smart and determined, but I felt she was a little too much at times. The team seemed to do well with the first outing they had together. I could not stand the group that summoned a demon for their own gains. It seemed selfish not to mention what they had to do to appease the demon was appalling.

Although this was a well written book it seemed to fall a little short for me as the other two books were much shorter. Then all of a sudden, a much longer book. Some scenes were drawn out too much, while others that needed more details were too short. I was disappointed in yet again with not knowing exactly what happened to Li except that it was a mission gone badly.

There were a few twists and turns that at times had me holding my breath. I wish the battle scenes were longer than they were. But overall it was a good story that leads the reader into a world where everything is not as it seems and it’s up to Temple, Caleb, Agni and Jo to figure out what exactly is going on.

In between battling demons, they have to work with the knights Templar and on top of dealing with his grief it seemed to pile even more stress upon Temple as he is forced to deal with events from his past that he’d rather leave in the past.

Good read.

Blurb: Renowned interior designer Fredi Zimmer is surprised when outdoorsman Max Greene, owner of Greene’s Outdoors, hires Fredi to revamp his rustic cabin in the Sierra Nevada foothills. When Max comes on to Fredi, the designer can’t imagine why. But he’s game to put a little spice into Max’s life, even if it’s just in the colors and fixtures he’ll use to turn Max’s dilapidated cabin into a showplace. Who can blame a guy for adding a little sensual pleasure as he retools Max’s life visually?

Max, for his part, is grateful when Fredi takes him in hand, both metaphorically and literally. Coming out is the most exciting and wonderful time in his life, despite the conservative former friends who think they’re saving him from sliding into hell.

Review: When I read book 1 of this series, What’s in a Name? I had no idea that it was the start of the series. Now that I’ve devoured book 2, Redesigning Max, it is official, I love Pat Henshaw’s books.

But let me back track for a second: although both Foothill Pride books can be read as a standalone book with no real over arching plot, I have to say it is just a simple pleasure getting to know the guys of book 1, Jimmy and Guy, before you’re reacquainted with them again in book 2 as minor characters.

Thinking on it, I’ve decided that I’ve become a fan of Pat Henshaw’s writing. The characters just feel so real and in turn they are relatable to the reader. I love the personalities of the self-confessed twinks and the really quiet, stoic type of manly man.

Redesigning Max is about interior designer and architect, Fredi (not Fred). While sipping coffee, waiting for a client at his best mate’s cafe, Jimmy from book 1, he is approached by the rather socially inept Max. Max inherited a cabin and after asking another local, was recommended to hire Fredi to do the job. Fredi is full of energy and is very personable. He is, however, also a consummate professional.

Max on the other hand is socially awkward after a rough childhood of being ignored by his guardians. The two guys seem a bit odd together at first. But as the saying goes, opposites attract and the attraction between the guys goes from wonderfully awkward to super hot and sizzling.

And the really awesome part of it all? Book 3 in the series, Behr Facts, is due out and we get a sneak peek at the end of this book!

Cannot wait for more!

Chrys has healed nicely from the gunshot wound that could have cost him his life. But now that it’s time for him to return to work, he and his partner-turned-lover must navigate their new relationship on the job.

Review: Bryan and Chrys have enjoyed the solitude that Chrys’ time off the job has afforded them. Aside from a trip to Greece with his father, Chrys has been resting, healing and taking his partnership with his best friend to the next level. You see, not long ago Chrys thought his feelings for his best friend would never be returned.

Then he went and got himself shot and everything changed. Bryan focused more on the bigger picture and less on the stigma associated with being gay.

These two have been through a lot together as partners at work and best friends for many years. But nothing could prepare them for family birthdays, not being partners at work anymore or the stress of moving in together. They are about to learn that you don’t always get handed those perfect moments, sometimes, you have to make them.

Just a fun, fast, smexy read. I liked the insight into the relationship as Bryan and Chrys continue to grow as a couple while Bryan is still struggling with some things. And then when some things don’t go as planned, they both start to doubt they are making the right decisions. But in the end, they always find the perfect moment for love and affection and building on the family they are making together.

A little bit of angst, a lovely shower scene and a whole lot of love make this little ditty the perfect sequel!

Note: this is the second book in a series that must be read in order. If you haven’t read Never the Perfect Moment yet, you have to start there.

Review: Twelfth Night is the second book in the Love’s Labours series by Racheline Maltese and Erin McRae. This sequel follows straight on from Midsummer and it is important that you read it before starting on Twelfth Night.

We pick up the story of twenty-five year old Michael and forty-two year old John soon after they had attended some weird summer drama camp for adults (that’s honestly how I remember it in my head). They’re both back home in the big city, New York, though they live in different boroughs. They now face reality after their summer idle has ended and now must navigate their lives together, which includes John getting the courage to jump out of the closet.

There weren’t many Shakespeare in-jokes and puns like the first, which I found a little disappointing, because they kept me amused previously. I will admit that this one isn’t as filled with as much drama or angst as the first installment.

However, it is a nice and enjoyable way to see that these guys, still with their fantastic chemistry, have a chance at getting their happily ever after.

Review: After the Final Encore is the third book in Scotty Cade’s Encore series. While the prequel book (Before the Final Encore) can be missed, to read this one you need to have at least read the Final Encore.

After the Final Encore picks up the story of lovers Ian and Billy 5 years after the Final Encore, where Billy’s country singing career seems to know no bounds and Ian is not only his dearest friend and lover, but also Billy’s manager. Ian and Billy are still wonderful characters and the chemistry between them is still there. There are also a few familiar minor characters readers will recognise even though this book is completely Ian and Billy.

After being together for 5 years, the very private lovers who both work within the cut throat business of Nashville face the scandal of being outed. This is where I was a bit non-plussed by the plot because it started as the guys trying to deal with the fall out (and doing admirably well, I also liked the touches of dialogues of when they went to LA to do some PR), and then we are faced with a blast from the past that isn’t so pleasant.

In the end, it’s nice to revisit the guys. Like the previous book, this isn’t the type of book that you sit back and psychoanalyse; simply enjoy it for what it is. The guys still have the sizzle between them and their characters are also relatable, despite one being a country singer super star. What else could we want other than two hot southern boys making their way together and through life? The drama also helps a lot as well.

When he’s whisked away to the bizarre land, his best chance for escape is to ally himself with the person called the Mad Hatter. Review: Mad About the Hatter is just a lot of fun with not a lot of romance, but a lot of friendship and adventure. Add to that this being something of a spinoff of Lewis Carrol’s Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass (there are elements of both these classics here), much like the book Wicked, it’s a thoroughly enjoyable read.

This is a young adult (Henry, the MC is some weeks off of 18) but honestly if you don’t like young adult fiction it’s really easy to switch that part off in your mind if you just want to read a gay romance with some classic characters.

Ok, so it’s clear that I loved this book. The characters are quirky, the plot is fun and somehow in between all that you see a normal sibling relationship (well, for siblings that find it difficult to get along anyway).

The story starts with Henry. He and his sister, Alice, do not have an easy relationship, despite the fact that their only other family is their possibly alcoholic father and mysterious/random Uncle Leonard.

The main problem is that Alice likes to talk about her time in Wonderland which Henry knows that logically could not have happened at all (but she has a husband and kids, go figure, I was siding with Henry there). Then his sister gave him punch and then…
We meet up with the Mad Hatter.

The story is set after the story of Through the Looking Glass. The Red Queen seems to be getting more insane by the day and is having people beheaded left, right and centre. When Hatter is sent after “Boy Alice”, we have the quirky adventure throughout Wonderland not unlike the original. We also meet other familiar characters, aside from the Red Queen, including Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Cheshire Cat (I thought of him as Stephen Fry’s voice like in the latest movie) as well as that opium fiend Caterpillar.

As I said there is not a lot of romance, there is very little in the way of sex but there are some rather sweet moments between Hatter and Henry. I particularly liked the end but it left me thinking “but I want more!!!!” I was practically crying because it ended as I was thinking this too.

What more can I say? We meet some quirky familiar faces and sights, as well as some new embellishments by the author. A wonderful and fun read, particularly of any fan of the original story.

Blurb: Grayson Black has never forgiven himself for not saving his identical twin brother, Jet, from a savage beating at their father’s hands ten years ago. Jet’s near-death never would have happened if Gray hadn’t been so focused on his boyfriend at the time. He has sworn to take care of his brother ever since. Gray can’t afford a distraction from his self-imposed mission, the type of distraction presented by the gorgeous blond showing up at their gigs.

Kris Larson is a firefighter with the San Francisco Fire Department. Since splitting from his girlfriend, his favorite way to spend nights off is watching the Black Brothers play in the bars of the Bay Area, especially the guitarist. But it’s not until the brothers are left homeless after a fire at their apartment building that Kris has the opportunity to know the real person behind the brooding façade.

Gray fights his attraction to Kris, but with a meddlesome twin who just wants him to be happy, it’s a losing battle. Before Gray and Kris can have a lasting relationship, though, Gray must learn to forgive himself, let go of the past, and lay more than one demon to rest.

Review: Jet and Grayson Black are twins that are inseparable. Jet was hurt as a teenager by their father, and Gray has never forgiven himself for not being there to intervene. Their father was a homophobic prick who hated his son when he found out he liked boys. As soon as they were able, they left home and never looked back.

The brothers, who go by The Black Brothers when performing, play at the local clubs part-time. They, both, are teachers through the day but music is their lifeline.

Gray is very quiet, almost shy like, but he has his reasons for not putting himself out there to gain attention. Jet, on the other hand, is outgoing, funny, and constantly pushing his brother to find a boyfriend.

Following the brothers from one club to the next is the only enjoyment Kris allows himself away from his job, a firefighter. He has had his eyes on Gray for a while, but never having a relationship with a man before, he’s not sure what to do.

Kris has just recently broken up with his long-term girlfriend and he wants to pursue Gray and see if they have chemistry. When the fire department is called out on an apartment building fire, Kris can’t believe who is standing on the sidewalk huddled together…The Black Brothers.

Offering his home, car, clothes, and anything else they may need to the brothers seems the natural thing for Kris to do. He can’t allow them to be homeless so he offers his place until they can figure out their next move.

Gray cannot believe how nice Kris is and surely he must have a reason for allowing them to stay at his place. Living under the same roof as his obsession makes him even crankier than he is normally. He doesn’t trust Kris and comes off very rude most of the time. Maybe if they have sex he can get the sexy firefighter off his mind and return to normal.

Jet can read his brother like a book and he is constantly pushing him to see where things may lead with the firefighter. He knows immediately when Gray screws up and makes an ass of himself. But, Jet has a plan of bringing the two stubborn men together and maybe, just maybe Gray can finally learn to forgive himself for things out of his control years earlier.

Black & Blühe is an enjoyable read although a little frustrating at times because Gray is constantly throwing up roadblocks when Kris tries to get close. They argue or ignore each other for most of the book. After their initial sexual encounter their attraction and chemistry is a slow-burn.

For me, Jet was the highlight of the story. He is witty and outgoing and always trying to make his brother confess his true feelings. Their moments together, however, were very moving and touching. I love that the brothers are so close to each other and stick together so tightly. They are very co-dependent on each other and as heartwarming as that is it can also become a hindrance.

The author’s prose is clean and smooth and even though there are many firefighter books in the genre, RJ Jones sets hers apart from the rest. She has also incorporated other pairings that I hope have their own story to tell in the future. Mason and Brandon, definitely, but most of all I want to see Jet find his HEA with the man of his dreams. Fingers crossed the author has his story pending.

Overall, I really enjoyed Black & Blühe and there are a couple of surprises the author throws in that I was not expecting. The first half of the book was a little slow but the second half really picks up and pulls your heartstrings. Gray found his happy ever after, now Jet needs to find his. *hint, hint*

Review: As we get older we realize things about ourselves that can be shocking. Sam sees the different relationship but the pure love between Greg, Chris and Liam. He realizes though he doesn’t really want two men he is ready to face facts he wants a real relationship. When he meets Hudson he finds out more and more about himself every time they are together.

This is a very good story about a man finding out  he likes to give over control at home to someone else. He deals with so much on a daily basis being a leader, he likes to submit and have trust in someone else. I find this highly relatable.

This story feels like two books in one since we start out with the ménage of Greg, Chris and Liam with the abduction of Liam by his family. This is where Sam comes in since he is FBI. They all become good friends. Then you have the story of Hudson and Sam’s new relationship.

There is a touch of angst and drama with the ongoing story of Liam’s parent’s and Liam’s emotional problems. There are lots and lots of hot sex. Just a little bit too much for me.

If you like FBI agents, angst, ménage and a lot of hot man-sex this is definitely for you.

Review: Each book in the Pickleville collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Hot damn April has written another amazing story. I had not heard of April Kelley till I started reading this series and I was amazed with the stories she comes up with.

The guys at the ranch have so much compassion and love that it makes you wish you were right there with them. I have books that are in my favorite list, and it wasn’t till I actually started reading this series, that I knew I needed to revise that list. Now I have my top five favorite paranormals and my top five contemporaries. This is one of my top five contemporaries.

There is something about this story that had me in tears. The fear that Dakota had felt for over three years makes you wish you were there to rip the man who hurt him apart. Three years ago he had basically a one night stand that turned dangerous. He had a stalker. Running has left him without a home and friends. He had to leave his family behind to stay alive. Now he has found a home that he wants to keep but fear keeps him from the man that he wants. Then he realizes that without Jackson, he was just an empty shell.

Jackson had always had one night stands, never settling with just one person. That stopped when Dakota came to work on the farm. He wanted him, but for some reason the man kept his distance from Jackson. Then the truth came out, and Jackson wants blood. He will do everything to keep his man safe.

It was the perfect story for me and I loved it. When Kelley puts out a book I am usually there to eat them up. Trust me it will keep you laughing, crying, loving and having fun.

Review: Xavier isn’t sure of Devon’s motives at first of why out of the blue he wants to see his grandfather after all these years until he is sick and in the hospital. Devon has to convince Xavier he only wants a chance to know the grandfather his family has kept him from.

Devon is a thrill seeker and was a mountain bike champion until a nasty accident hurt his knee and stopped him from riding in competitions. He thinks he is qualified to help with his Grandfather’s company in mountain bike tours.

I really liked this story a lot. It is pretty much a fast paced story and is insta love or at least insta attraction between Devon and Xavier but it is good. I liked the blend of the romance, Xavier’s past romance, Devon’s grandfather’s illness and the earthquake.

If you like natural disasters, instant attraction, beautiful scenery, earthquakes and a sexy romance this is definitely for you.

So much emotion running through this book that it took my breath away. I literally cried reading how Edie, a shifter, struggled with herself and bawled like a baby at the packs reaction to her coming out so to speak.

Edie was such a sweetheart yet strong when it counted. I was very impressed with her determination to be herself no matter what anyone else said and was very proud of her.

Rolly was so great with reaction of Edie I cried yet again. I have never cried so much while reading a book but it was a happy cry. Amazing twists and turns as the pack deals with several things going on at once. This pack is truly a family that stands by each other no matter what the circumstances are.

Rolly and Edie made such a great couple and they both seemed so much stronger when in the presence of the other. Rolly was so sweet to wait until Edie was ready. He was strong yet sure of himself. His powers as a Shaman were simply jaw dropping.

The whole book was well written and takes you on an emotional journey and a rescue mission for Edie’s sibling in Siberia. Action packed, intense scenes and some hot sex made for an amazing addition to the Spotless series.

Two of my favorite characters are in this book so that meant some hilarious sarcastic comments from Cliff and Bobby. This book has everything adventure, action, drama, mystery and love. I can’t wait for the next book to come out. Absolutely loved this book and highly recommend it to everyone.

You have to read this book.

Eric Allen, thirty-three-year-old line cook, moved in with his grandmother, Jewell, after a disastrous coming-out when he was in middle school. She raised him, and he cared for her when she fell ill. When Jewell died she left everything to Eric—angering his parents and older brother. The inheritance isn’t much, but Eric and his bestie Nathan pool their money and buy an abandoned hotel on an isolated stretch of the Central Oregon Coast. The hotel isn’t far from Lincoln City—a town with its own Pride Festival and named for a president—so they christen it Buchanan House after James Buchanan, the “confirmed bachelor” president with the close male friend.

Eric and Nathan need a handyman to help them turn Buchanan House into the gay resort of their dreams. Eric finds Tim Tate in the local listings and over the months leading to opening weekend Tim reveals himself as a skilled carpenter with many hidden talents. Eric falls hard for Tim, but before he can see a future with the gorgeous handyman he has to get over twenty years of being bullied and shamed by his birth family. It would be much easier if Eric’s brother Zach weren’t trying to grab part of the inheritance or ruin opening weekend.

Nicole Edwards

Ryan Trexler has devoted his entire life to his family’s security business. And now that he’s slated to take over the reins for the company, RT knows that his life is only going to get more complicated. Zachariah Tavoularis—nicknamed Z—has been employed by Sniper 1 Security for a decade. Despite being known as the most loyal enforcer outside of family, Z also has a reputation of being quite the playboy, though that was based more on rumor than fact. When an assignment comes up that forces the two of them to work together, Z knows it’s time to show RT he’s not the man he thinks he is.

Can they complete the mission, despite the fact that it puts them in a tenuous situation, bringing them closer than either of them ever expected? And will Z allow RT to convince him that they can never be together, no matter how much they both want it?

Review: Oh my god the sugar rush on this book is high, it is that damn sweet and cute. I simply loved the two main characters Quinn and Spencer.

Quinn is a SWAT officer who has been injured on the job. He is big and bad with a grumpy attitude. Spencer is a sweet geek who has noticed Quinn since the day he moved next door to him. Not that Quinn has noticed him before. That all changes when Spencer worms his way into Quinn’s apartment and heart with brownies and other delish foods.

Really this was a well written and fast read. It gives two likeable men who are very different but somehow mesh perfectly together. This was funny and just damn enjoyable.

Review: This is a real interesting book that has a really interesting historical background as to the name of the book/the B and B that is brought by the MC and his best mate. This is the second Charley Descoteaux book I’ve read (previously read and reviewed The Pinch of the Game) and I have to say that this one, with all its sweetness and a touch of angst and drama, is my favourite of the two.

I have to say, that there really is one MC of this book, Eric, whose family except for his grandmother rejected him when he revealed that he was bisexual. Years later and now with his grandmother dead, Eric’s bestie Nathan has a plan for the pair to buy an Oregon resort, fix it up and open it up to the gay community. Eric’s love interest is Tim, a handyman who is hired on to help the guys with the odds and ends that need to be fixed up. He really doesn’t come through as an MC as such, not really until the last quarter of the book. I would have loved to have heard more from Tim.

There are a whole other host of minor characters that paint Eric and Tim’s world with colourful and sometimes eccentric personalities. There is also the clash of Eric’s biological family giving him issues, something that I wasn’t completely satisfied with when it was only resolved with a quick phone call and no real explanation.

As I said this is a really sweet book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is about a guy trying to make a fresh start and making a pretty good go of it. All in all it is an uplifting sort of book and something that I think would appeal to a general audience.

The historical side note, said in the blurb, the guys name their resort after President James Buchanan – who was a bachelor with a “very close male friend”. Totally fascinating, even if you aren’t from the States, this book has me wanting to read up about Buchanan, though I wish a bit more background was incorporated into the book.

Zander can’t have a mate, especially a pretty, sweet little man like Terry. His friend of more than ten years, and partner on the force hates gay men with a passion and Zander won’t risk the only true friend he has, not even for a mate. So even though he’s scented Terry, Zander is determined to stay away from the Omega.

Unfortunately the Fates are just as determined that the two men should be together and when Zander finds himself hit with the mating curse in more ways than one, he comes up with a plan to have Terry without upsetting his friend.

Review: I came across Lisa Oliver about a year ago and I have to tell you that she just continues to surprise me. Each story is well written, with characters that not only draws you in, but captivates your heart. You can usually tell when someone writes with their feelings and not just for money, and Lisa is one that writes with her heart all the way in it.

Terry is an omega, and his family thought for his safety that they would have to live without a pack. For the longest time he was alright with it. Then he met his mate. He was a clothing designer and loved making clothes for his friends. He had a lot of fun making costumes for the drag queens. They were his friends and family. He was well-loved. Then on a night they were out, they got themselves in a fight. Then he meets Detective Zander Samuels and his partner, who is an ass. His life is about to change.

Zander was an Alpha wolf without a pack. He has been best friends with his partner Sully for over ten years. So when he meets his mate, his dumbass decides to ignore it. Then to have him on the side, boy was he in for a shock of his life. His wolf is not going to let him get away with the crap he was thinking. His wolf wanted his mate, and his wolf was going to get his mate. Zander needed to get his head out of his ass, and be a true mate.

I love Lisa’s books and always look forward to reading more by her. I had a blast with this book and would definitely recommend it. There is just something with the way she gives you a story that will not only draw you in but keep your attention throughout the whole story. It gave me everything I could want in it. She has definitely made it to my top five favorite authors to read.

This was an amazing story and you should check it out. The sex is hot and so is the whole book.

For fashion designer Julian Cornell, appearances mean everything. His love affairs are strictly casual, and the only thing he cares about is making his clothing line a success. A chance encounter with the man he loved long ago has Julian thinking for the first time in years there may be more to life than being seen at the best parties and what designer labels to wear.

When Julian’s world takes an unexpected turn, it’s Nick who helps him regain perspective on what matters most in life. Julian, in turn, helps Nick accept who he is and understand he isn’t responsible for tragedies he couldn’t prevent.

Lost love found can be even sweeter the second time around and after all the years apart, both men learn to look beyond the surface to find the men they are inside.

Reviewer: Zane

Review: I am so excited – Felice Stevens has a new series! “The Breakfast Club” centers around three men who have been friends since college, each with their own story. Meet Zach the introverted programmer with a lonely heart, Marcus the club owner and destined to be single forever manwhore (YES!!!! I get to read another unapologetic slut!), and Julian, the fashion designer playboy secretly nursing a broken heart from his younger days. The men have remained close, not only keeping in contact but meeting for breakfast weekly, hence the title.

This first book is Julian Cornell’s story of love lost and found again with firefighter Nick Fletcher. The high school lovers were broken apart by Nick’s need to be “normal” and inability to accept that he was gay, and further distanced when Julian left school as a result of intolerance and bullying.

After two decades of being apart a chance meeting reignites the spark between them, bringing forth a love for one another that neither had outgrown. Battling internal issues and wounds that have yet to fully heal, Julian and Nick struggle to deal with the past and present. Challenges within their personal and professional lives threaten to split them apart again, but this time they fight for each other, for their love and happiness.

What a great read! Classic Felice Stevens, complete with sexy scenes (can we say hot-as-sin leather pants and kitchen sex???), shmoopy declarations of love and tender heartfelt moments leading to her guaranteed HEA, this book more than delivers. Her seventh M/M romance, this author’s writing continues to shine and her stories and characters captivate.

As you may have figured, Ms. Stevens is an auto-read (and reread) for me. I easily recommend if you’re a fan of romance, HEAs, sexy fashion designers and/or firemen – even if you just want to read about second chance love with some leather pants thrown in!

As Julian and Nick begin their HEA, one more member is added to this exclusive breakfast club, and this reader is ready to move on to the next story… Oh, Zach… I’m waiting…
