Grace R. Duncan
Jamie Ryan was almost ready to accept he’d never find his destined mate. They’re uncommon to begin with and same-sex versions downright rare. Since his gay best friend found a destined mate, Jamie figured he was out of luck. Until end of semester stress forces him to go through the full-moon shift early. Stuck in wolf form, he runs into none other than his destined mate. Who’s human.
Chad Sutton has always had good instincts. They served him well as a detective and continued on when he went private. Those instincts tell him there’s something about the dog that comes up to him while running away from animal control that isn’t quite right. He works to put the pieces together, but is unsuccessful until his dog turns into a human before his eyes.
Jamie has no idea what a shifter mate bite will do to a human. He’s terrified to try—and possibly kill his mate. They hunt together for answers while working together on a case for Chad. It’s easy to see they belong together, but Jamie fears the gods gave him someone he can’t keep.

Sweet

Alysia Constantine
Not every love story is a romance novel.
For Jules Burns, a lonely baker, it is the memory of his deceased husband, Andy. For Teddy Flores, a numbed-to-the-world accountant who accidentally stumbles into his bakery, it is a voyage of discovery into his deep connections to pleasure, to the world, and to his own heart.
Alysia Constantine’s Sweet is also the story of how we tell stories—of what we expect and need from a love story. The narrator is on to you, Reader, and wants to give you a love story that doesn’t always fit the bill. There are ghosts to exorcise, and jobs and money to worry about. Sweet is a love story, but it also reminds us that love is never quite what we expect, nor quite as blissfully easy as we hope.
Title: Until September Series: N/A Author: Chris Scully Genre: Contemporary Length: Novel (298 pages) Publisher: Riptide Publishing (February 8th, 2016) Heat Level: Low/Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts Blurb: As a teenager, Archie Noblesse clawed his way out of the poverty, heartache, and abuse of the reservation and left his family behind. Desperate to shake the shadow of his past, he reinvents himself as Archer Noble, an outspoken blogger and controversial author who lives only for himself. But when his beloved sister dies, Archer is saddled with guardianship of his niece and nephew.
Elementary school teacher Ryan Eriksson is devastated when his best friend Marguerite is killed, leaving her two young children orphaned. Helping Archer with his new responsibilities eases his grief, but when Archer offers him custody of the children, Ryan’s left with an impossible choice: get the family he’s always wanted, or respect Margie’s wishes and convince Archer to give parenting—and his heritage—a chance.
To buy time, Ryan promises to stay for the summer, hoping that Archer will change his mind and fall for the kids. But Archer’s reluctant, and the growing attraction between him and Ryan complicates matters. Legal decisions must be made, and soon, before Ryan returns to school. But with hearts involved, more than just the children’s future is on the line.
Review: Usually I review a book immediately after reading it, so that my thought and feelings are fresh in my mind. Unfortunately, work and life got in the way, and it’s been 2 weeks since I finished his book, but I’ll try my best to review it.
First of all, even though it’s been a while, I definitely remember I loved this book, every beautifully written, emotional, gorgeous, heartbreaking page. It’s never easy dealing with the loss of loved ones, but it’s even more excruciating when young children lose their mothers and have to rely on the goodness of others to survive. I’m not gonna lie, this book made me tear up a lot, and usually I’m not a crier. But I just couldn’t help it; if this story won’t pull at your heartstrings, then you’re an insensitive bastard.
Archie and Marguerite are brother and sister, have grown up in the poverty ridden reservation in Canada, and had to rely mostly on each other to survive and love. Archie is a few years older than his sister, and when his drug addict mother refused to care for Marguerite, Archie had to resort to stealing and other minor infractions in order to care for his sister.
After their mother disappeared, Archie and Marguerite were sent to live with their grandmother and her family; Archie suffered tremendous amounts of abuse while in their care, and the only escape and chance for Marguerite to have a normal future was for Archie to run away at the tender age of 15 and fend for himself in the hopes that he’d be able to build a life.
There’s no wonder that Archie grew up to be insensitive, never affectionate, unable and unwilling to believe in love, and emotionally unavailable to those around him, including his sister. It’s sad that his niece and nephew didn’t really know who their uncle was, but they had to rely on him to give them a family after losing their mother in a tragic car accident.
Marguerite wanted both Ryan (her best friend and teacher at the kids’ school) and Archer to temporarily care for the children until Archer would hopefully step up and apply for permanent guardianship; Archer hasn’t been around children since his sister was little, and he has no clue how to deal with the kids, never mind that he doesn’t plan on sticking around and hopes Ryan would take the children off his hands.
They reach a compromise when Archer agrees to give it his best shot, and if he decides not to keep the kids at the end of the summer, then Ryan would keep them for himself.
Ryan is a lovely character, a beloved teacher and friend, whom everyone adores, and has always dreamed of having a family of his own. Basically Ryan believes/dreams of everything Archer despises most about homosexuality. Ryan is not normally Archie’s type either, but when Archie starts noticing Ryan, he can’t seem to stop. There’s chemistry between them, even though it takes longer for Archer to acknowledge it, and the sexual tension is delicious at times.
One thing I didn’t like about this book was the constant back and forth between Archer and Ryan. The constant denial when it came to their feelings and whether they were (or even wanted to be) in a relationship was fine and dandy at the beginning, but got tiresome after the book reached its midway mark. I wanted them to stop denying it so that they could get on with the sex and everything else.
But you know what? That’s about the ONLY thing I didn’t like! Those two amazing children broke my heart, made me cry and made me smile as well, I really loved them to pieces and they made this book amazing instead of just OK.
Chris Scully is a new author to me, but I’ll read his/her work again, definitely!

Title: Table for One Series: N/A Author: Ava Hayden Genre: Contemporary/Holiday Novella Length: 31 pages Publisher: Dreamspinner Press (8 Feb 2016) Heat Level: Low Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥4 Hearts Blurb: Nick DiGiaccomo waits tables at Fortissimo, an exclusive restaurant in Oilton, Alberta. He loathes drama, particularly the kind that makes its appearance on Valentine’s Day.
This Valentine’s Day is especially bitter. Eight months ago Nick’s heart was broken when his lover walked away without a word over a misunderstanding. Too proud to call, Nick’s heard nothing from him since. But on this, the most romantic day of the year, he keeps his feelings well-hidden and his professional smile firmly in place.
That is, until he sees his ex-lover, Mark Mishimoto, at a table for two in his section—and his Valentine’s Day goes from bad to downright horrible.
To make matters worse, a winter storm descends, hours earlier than forecast. When the restaurant closes, Nick finds himself stuck downtown in the middle of a blizzard with no way to get home and nowhere to go. Mark lives conveniently close by, and he’s offering up his couch.
Nick could use a place to lay his head—but is it worth risking his heart?
Review: This is a nice, short and shiny story for a bit of Valentine’s romance, coupled with a smidgen of sarcasm and wit to the whole day. To be honest the blurb is more than descriptive about what happens in the short story – I think that it could be a lot shorter considering the story itself is only 31 pages.
As for the story itself, this is about waiter Nick. He’s stuck working on Valentine’s Day, although he really does hate that kind of public display of romance. On top of that, his ex, Mark, who had left without a word after a misunderstanding, turns up at the restaurant sitting at the table for two he had booked. This is really a sweet story. There are a couple of flash backs and a hint towards the future at the end.
The plot is simple, if you haven’t figured out what Mark is doing after reading the blurb you’ll figure it out a couple of pages in. That being said, the simplicity is a good thing because that means we can get a bit more in-depth about how things are between Nick and Mark.
A wonderful Valentine’s/winter romance, if anything I want to know more about Nick and Mark’s relationship.

Title: Carry Me Home Series: N/A Author: Sterling Rivers Genre: Contemporary Length: 187 Pages Publisher: Dreamspinner Press (February 8th.2016) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥4.5 Hearts Blurb: After his mom dies, Aiden Price returns to Texas to deal with the aftermath. Amidst disapproving family and painful memories, Aiden finds solace in love letters he discovers in his mom’s attic. Needing a change when his sexual orientation is unexpectedly revealed and his dad rejects him, Aiden sets out on a journey to Montana to find the mysterious author of the letters. There he meets Cody Bannar, who volunteers to be his guide.
Cody had a rough start in life but after being adopted into a huge, loving family, he lives out and proud, unafraid of what others think about his sexuality.
Aiden and Cody hit it off and Aiden is welcomed into Cody’s family with open arms. As they continue on their quest, they begin to fall in love, but Aiden isn’t ready to commit to Cody, or to embrace who he is.
Not until after the truth behind the love letters is revealed does Aiden realize his mom would have wanted him to follow his heart.
And home is where the heart is—firmly in Cody’s hands.
Review: Aiden Price has lost his mother, the most important person in his life. She was hit by a drunk driver and languished in a coma for five weeks. He and his sister are not close. She tried to get him to pull the plug, but Aiden was reluctant. He kept hoping that she’d wake up, but that was not to be.
This leaves him in absolute anguish, so when he goes to her house to sort out her things (she left him the house in her will), he feels very lost. Aiden is gay and closeted to his family, and he’s alright with that. As mentioned, he and his sister aren’t close, and his father has been uninterested in him since he divorced Aiden’s mother when he was 13 years old.
While in the attic, Aiden discovers an old army lockbox full of love letters to his uncle George from someone called Bibby. The first few were very sweet, but sad, as George had gone off to war. However, a few letters in, Aiden discovers that Bibby was a man, and he and Uncle George had been having a secret relationship. Of course, it would have been considered perverted at the time, so Bibby didn’t even get to kiss George goodbye at the train station because people would see.
In a state of confusion about his life, and missing his mother terribly, Aiden decides to head to Montana, where the return address on the envelopes is. There, he meets Cody who has such a sunny outlook on life, it’s infectious. Aiden begins a journey of self-discovery as he and Cody grow closer. He meets and becomes a part of Cody’s extended family and the people of the small town takes to him as well.
As Aiden falls harder and harder for Cody, he realizes that he’ll have to leave the warm arms of Montana, leaving him with a dilemma.
I. Loved. This. Book! The blurb intrigued me, and I’m so glad to have been able to read Carry Me Home. First and foremost, I consider it to be a great love story. Whether it’s about two men, two women, a man and a woman…hell, a man and a space alien, it’s about love. Aiden loved his mother, and she died. Bibby loved George, and they couldn’t be together. Aiden begins to love Cody, but he thinks he’ll be leaving soon.
This story grabbed my heart and held on all the way to the end. Aiden was so devastated by this mother’s loss, but I got to come along with him as he began his road to happiness. Watching him and Cody embark on the quest to find Bibby was exciting as well as sweet, and oh, when Cody brought Aiden home to meet his family, the smile on my face would have to be chipped off.
The chemistry between Aiden and Cody was off the charts. I fell in love with them as they were falling in love with each other. They were perfect as a couple. Cody wanted to take care of Aiden, and Aiden, as independent as he is, needed to be taken care of at this point in his life. The conversation and hand holding was almost as sexy as when they finally made love. Note that I said almost. Oh my, when they come together, it was so hot!
However, it was quite tender as well. The men were tentative but enthusiastic, and it was a joy to read. I’ve often said that sex isn’t the most important part of a story, but good scenes, placed where they need to be as opposed to being gratuitous, is a wonderful enhancement.
I don’t want to give the ending away. I believe that everyone should read this book, and it should be savored. I will tell you its perfection…sublime even. I expected to like Carry Me Home, but I wound up with a book that I’ll reread often.
You should definitely pick this one up.

Title: Some Assembly Required Series: N/A Author: Lex Chase & Bru Baker Genre: Paranormal/ Ghosts/Spirits/ Humor Length: 210 pages Publisher: Dreamspinner Press (February 8, 2016) Heat Level: Low Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥4Hearts Blurb: Everyone wishes they were dead when wandering the purgatory of a home furnishings store, but these guys actually are.
Benji Goss is the quintessential good guy. When his boyfriend dumps him and moves out, Benji obligingly keeps the cat—even though he’s allergic—because his ex’s new place doesn’t accept pets. He’s always joked the cat would be the death of him, but not in a way he expects when a feline mishap crushes him under a DEL TORO bookcase.
Snarky loner Patrick Bryant is in such a rut he barely remembers the life he used to lead. The last thing he recalls is being decapitated by a DEL TORO bookcase in a freak accident. As a spiritual CASA resident, he haunts the aisles of affordable Italian furniture, assisting fellow spirits in moving on to their final destinations.
When Benji appears in the CASA café, Patrick considers the naïve spirit just the man to cure his boredom. Benji’s relentless optimism chips away at Patrick’s sarcasm, making him question if there’s something beyond what he can see.
But the heart is like CASA furniture—there’s always some assembly required.
Review: I was not sure what I was expecting when I read this story but I can honestly say that this was not it. I have not read many books by these authors so I wasn’t really sure if it would be one that I would like. However it was the title that caught me, I was thinking humor and laughing my ass off. Then I read the blurb and I was fascinated by the thought of death, being stuck in some shopping store and what would happen next.
Benji had believed his boyfriend when they had gotten the apartment, that it was love. However when Charles left him, he left his stupid old cat that he was allergic to. Now I have to admit that it took me reading it twice to find out that he had died because of the cat. Then he ends up is Casa trying to figure out how he ended up there.
Which for Patrick he had been at Casa for quite some time. He was afraid of going on and finding out the next step. He was an ass pretty much, and when Benji showed up he figured he would help him. His intent was to not tell Benji anything and it leads the two into strange directions.
I have to honestly say that even though the story was well written, with a pretty good plot and story line that this was the wackiest story I have ever read.
It definitely had the humor to it but the fact that the guys were dead really doesn’t do anything for me. I would have rather read about them meeting in another life and being together, this story was a bit depressing. However it was a funny story that definitely kept my attention through it all.
I had fun with it and would definitely recommend it.

He falls in love, marries the man of his dreams, and makes peace with God. He’s happy.

1st Edition published by Createspace, 2011. 2nd Edition published by Itineris Press, 2012.
Review: Brooke moved to Denver after college to get away from home and put his past behind him. He gets a job at a boy’s center as counselor and makes significant changes there. Brett has a beautiful apartment and meets the man of his dreams. Even though he can’t use his degree in a church, he loves his job with the youth, loves his husband. He almost has that fairy tale life until a tragedy brings back his past and it could all come crashing down around him.
The Shattered Door is one of my favorite books. Written in first person, I felt like I was Brooke. It begins in the present then goes back seven years, and you wonder what had happened to cause Brooke such emotional angst almost to the end. Just when you think it’s over, there is another twist. The story leaves you on the edge of your seat, laughing and crying. I could feel Brooke’s angst and pain. The romance between him and Jed was sweet and charming.
This isn’t exactly a romance but more a story of life and relationships.
I highly recommend this book to anyone that likes a book that is looking for something different. If you like angst, friends to lovers, raccoons, story’s set in the mid –south and no sex, you will LOVE this book. *I received a copy of this book for an honest review from mmgoodbookreviewers.com*
Title: Catch a Ghost Series: Hell or High Water, #1 Author: SE Jakes Narrator: Adam North Genre: Romantic Suspense Length: 8 hours and three minutes Publisher: Audible Studio, (Riptide Publishing) December 16th, 2015) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥4Hearts Blurb: From New York Times best-selling author Stephanie Tyler, writing as S. E. Jakes….

Together Prophet and Tom must find a way to take down killers in the dangerous world of underground cage matches while fighting their own dangerous attraction.
When they find themselves caught in the crossfire, these two loners must trust each other and work together to escape their ghosts…or pay the price.
Review: I am going to admit I have not read this series and do wish I had. The advantage of reading over listening is that you can go back and read over parts easier. There is so much going on in this book that I am going to skip the run down, but I will add in a few more points.
Prophet is also engaged in a game of cat and mouse or should I say steal the couch with a spook that lives in the same building. While this is a fun part of the story and Cillian does have a larger role later in the book it is hard to figure out how Prophet keeps doing this with casts on both arms.
Which brings me to another point, we begin with Prophet in casts and there are other couples mentioned later in this book which makes me wonder if this is a spinoff. Now having said, that I really liked the book, like I said there is a lot going on, it seems confusing in parts, but by the end some of it falls in place other parts are tied up in a very intriguing cliffhanger that does its job making you want the next book!
Now for the audio part. I enjoyed listening to this book. Adam North is a good narrator. I will have to say I did not like his Tom voice at all. It didn’t sound Cajun and didn’t add anything to his character. The other character voices, the distinctions were slight but I think enough to tell them apart. However, the actual telling of the story was very good and the sex scenes were smokin’ hot.
If you like espionage, secret agents, spies, lots of twists and turns, and some very hot man-sex this is definitely for you.

Title: Dangerous Spirits Series: Spirits, #2 Author: Jordan L. Hawk Genre: Paranormal/ Historical Romance (Victorian) Length: 193 pages Publisher: Jordan L. Hawk (September 15, 2015) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 Hearts Blurb: After the events of Reyhome Castle, Henry Strauss expected the Psychical Society to embrace his application of science to the study of hauntings. Instead, the society humiliates and blacklists him. His confidence shaken, he can’t bring himself to admit the truth to his lover, the handsome medium Vincent Night.
Vincent’s new life in Baltimore with Henry is disrupted when a friend from the past asks for help with a haunting. In the remote town of Devil’s Walk, old ties and new lies threaten to tear the lovers apart, if a fiery spirit bent on vengeance doesn’t put an end to them first.
This a great book full of suspicion, mistrust, lies and ghostly spirits. I loved the first book and this one was excellent as well. Henry and Vincent are together but not without issues. Lizzie is there as well when an old friend asks them to look into some strange events at Devils walk.
This book has a spooky, creepy feel to it but I felt it fit the story perfectly. The mystery was well written as events unfolded and the mystery deepened. The overall feel had me on the edge of my seat awaiting the outcome.
A book that has a lot going on it but blended so well at the same time. I truly enjoyed and loved this book. I am looking forward to what else the author has in store with this series.
Fantastic read and highly recommended.

The Pediatric Residency Program Jamie applies for brings him face to face with untouchable Program Director, Miles Kwon, whom Jamie soon finds to be a man of integrity and vision.

Will Jamie ever experience a life with a loving partner, or will his father’s secrets cause him to lose everything he’s gained?
Title: A Gentle Kind of Strength Series: N/A Author: Kendall Mckenna Genre: Contemporary Length: 186 pages
Publisher: MLR Press (November 5, 2015) Heat Level: Moderate Blurb: A police K9 handler believes he’s lucky when a romance starts with the local veterinarian, but then his canine partner is injured in the line of duty.
Sergeant Ray Lerner is a veteran sheriff’s department K9 handler. Damien Federov is the veterinarian caring for Harley, Ray’s canine partner. When taking a man as a lover, Ray’s always been confident. Around Damien, Ray becomes uncharacteristically shy and tongue-tied. When Damien begins their romance, Ray knows he’s lucky.
His obsession with a past tragedy blinds Ray to everything he has with Damien. When Harley is injured on duty, his life is in Damien’s hands. As Ray sits vigil, he has one final chance to allow Damien in all the way, or risk losing everything important, in a single night.
As always, I am grateful and honored to get my greedy little hands on a Kendall McKenna read. A Gentle Kind of Strength hit all my awww buttons. I don’t know if it’s because of the years that I spent in corrections. Or seeing the K-9 officers in my ER, but I loved Ray and Harley.
For me this was more than a romance, it was the making of a family.
The relationship’s slow burn was refreshing. I love that the shy guy finally got his man.
But, that ending. OMG. I swear my heart stopped beating for a few beats.
Highly recommend!
Shorty’s Review: ♥♥♥♥ 3.5 Hearts
I’ve heard a lot of great things about Kendall Mckenna’s books. So was excited when I was given this book to read and review. But I have to tell you I could not see what all the hype was about myself.
Yes it’s a well written story about veterinarian Damien and Ray a K-9 handler. What I could not understand was all the details about the dog Harley and the lack of details about the main character Damien. Did I misunderstand the blurb?
This is a very slow and I mean slow romance and I use that term lightly as I would have given up. I felt that Ray that let the past rule his life instead of seeing what was right in front of him. This story takes place over a long span of time so I got to the point where I wanted to slap them both. Ray, to snap him out of the past and Damien to make him let go and move on to someone who actually sees him.
The sex scenes were hot and passionate. But I truly wish there had been more about Damien and Ray rather than the dog. This story just did not interest me after I started reading and got halfway through.
I’m sorry but I did not care for it myself.

Title: Submitting to the Clan Series: Master of Dragons, 1 Author: Caitlin Ricci Genre: Paranormal/ Dragon Shifters Length: 43 pages Publisher: Extasy Books (February 1, 2016) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥4 Hearts Blurb: Cast out from his clan, ice dragon Avery is searching for a new home when he comes across someone who refuses to treat him the way he’s always known.
As a clan whore Avery knows where his place is in the dragon world; at the very bottom. He’s grown used to that and to being expected to be available to anyone in the clan who wants him. But when he’s thrown out of his clan and left to fend for himself he becomes lost in the world. While searching for a new clan to belong to he comes across Donovan, a powerful dragon unlike any he’s ever met.
Donovan doesn’t allow whores in his clan because to him everyone should be equal, but convincing Avery that he’s worth more than what he’s always been told he is turns out to be a frustrating task for both of them. Avery doesn’t want to be a whore anymore, but he has never known anything else, and Donovan refuses to treat him like that.
They’ll have to heal the scars of Avery’s past abuse if they hope to ever have a future together.
Review: To me there is nothing better than a good paranormal romance with two gorgeous men. They always just make the day better. You don’t read many that involve dragons and I have to say that dragons will always be my favorite. This is the first book to a series that I hope makes my top ten favorites.
Avery is an ice dragon who was kicked out of his clan because they had no future use of him. He was the clan whore and knew no better. He was at the bottom of the chain and had to get away. He flew into or I should say he crash landed into another’s territory. One whose leader was not like his old clan at all. Donovan had a lot of work to do to show Avery the good side.
Now it was way too short to give me more than just a taste and left me wanting more. Also it came off very rushed to me with not enough span in between getting there, figuring out certain things and then sex again. It just came off a bit strange and did not flow as well as it should have.
Overall though I had fun with it and look forward to reading the next story. Give me dragons any day.

Review:Each book in the Watchers collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.
I think the idea of someone watching over others is the perfect idea. I wished it was true and could help those who needed it.
There are five watchers of different animal souls and they watch over other paranormals. Lex is a caracal shifter whose life is about to go crazy. He has found a new watcher and a very protective father. A father he had sex with the night before, can things get any crazier. It would seem that her father is his mate. Tucker however is not sure of anything but he knows he will protect his daughter at all cost.
The characters are beautifully written with big hearts, however if you cross them, they have no problem putting you down. To me there is nothing better than a good romance, but when it is a paranormal then it hits higher marks to me.
This story was a lot better than the others but I still wished they were a bit longer. Because no matter if you have read them all, they just seem to leave something important out. The problem is I just can’t figure out what it is missing.
Over all though it doesn’t take away from the story and I enjoyed it.

Title: Blood of the Land Series: prequel to Blood of the City Author: Adrik Kemp Genre: Historical/ Vampires Length: Novella (87 pages) Publisher: Pride Publishing (February 2nd, 2016) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥3 ½ Hearts Blurb: When an ancient Italian vampire travels to the pioneering Australian outback, what he finds there triggers a decades-long love triangle from which there is no escape.
Mack, a young Australian cattle farmer, makes his living on his father’s cattle station. The work is hard and the days are long but he is content with the life he has been born into. Unfortunately for his family, he is awakened to forbidden desires of the flesh by intriguing visitors from far-off Italy.
When these visitors reveal themselves as lustful creatures of the night, Mack bites off more than he can chew and finds himself in a predicament he is ill-equipped to handle. Lost and seemingly alone, he spirals into a deadly path toward a decades-long love triangle between himself, the monster who made him and the love of his undead life.
Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of violence and death.
Review: The book starts off great as we see Zoran leave his lover Bela for an adventure. Bela moves on and tries to take over Mack’s property. But after this is where I found myself wondering what was happening at times.
The writing was good but some scenes seemed too rushed while others seemed to linger. I never did quite figure out the love triangle in the story. It was just a little messy and confusing.
All in all it was an o.k. with adventure, love, gore, fighting and action.

Title: Flying Solo Series: Men of London, #6 Author: Susan Mac Nicol Genre: Contemporary Romance Length: 173 pages Publisher:Boroughs Publishing Group (January 28th 2016) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥5 Hearts Blurb: Flight attendant Maxwell Lewis has spent years cultivating a bon vivant image only to find he finally wants something more—and that something more includes the never-does-repeats game designer Gibson Henry.
ABOVE AND BEYOND
Maxwell Lewis is proud of the life he’s made. Having turned tragedy into triumph, he’s now a beloved member of a Target Airlines cabin crew with more than his fair share of attention both in the air and on the ground. But lately he’s wanted something more than the occasional hook-up or sometime sex buddy—particularly after meeting game designer and passenger Gibson Henry.
Talented and driven, Gibson has built a company ready to be the next big thing in gaming. Devoted to his work, he takes onetime pleasures where he find them and never does repeats…which is what he tells handsome, sexy Maxwell Lewis after a little mile-high flight attendance. But a chance encounter in a London club is about to change things forever.
Two men, one who’s flown solo and another who’s only ever played alone, are about to find that at some point all games come to end, it’s time to bare your heart and try for love.
Review: The last couple of books in the ‘Men of London’ series have been intense and extremely emotional. Not saying there aren’t some intense and emotional moments in this story, wouldn’t be Susan Mac Nicol otherwise, but this book is definitely lighter and I laughed a lot while I was reading it. I am left wondering if this would be a reprieve. Is the next book going to gut me?
Fans of the series will remember Maxwell from book 3, Suit Yourself, as Oliver’s ‘when I’m in town’ hook-up. Well, Max is still flying solo, but he finds himself wanting something more than just random, one time hook-ups. Seeing his old friend Oliver so happy and in love stirs something in Max, making him want to have someone to come home to, someone to love.
Gibson Henry is a computer tech whiz that designs games and software. He too is a onetime only random hook-up kind of guy. He catches Max’s attention on a flight and the two share a mutual hand job in the latrine. The flame flickers out before the plane touches ground… or does it?
When Max and Gibson run into each other in a club, the chemistry is definitely still there. What started out as a ticket to the mile high club becomes something more. Friends with benefits start dating, then those pesky feelings get involved and both men are in foreign territory.
What a great addition to this series. I seriously had a smile on my face almost the whole time. Max is a bit of a Diva, and Gibson is this adorable geek. The two of them together can really be a hot mess at times, but they realize pretty early that there is something more between them, something they want to fully explore and enjoy.
When Max gets sick, Gibson takes care of him. When Gibson gets bad news from home, Max drops everything to fly to his hometown with him and stands by his side. It’s not until the past infiltrates their future that the real challenge emerges.
The prologue was intense and a bit dark, but from there the story was evenly paced and flowed well from one situation to the next. The characters were identifiably flawed and the story had depth and meaning.
If you love a good romance with charisma, charm and sarcastic wit… you have got to read this book. I would suggest reading the series in order because the characters circle through every story; but this book could stand on its own as well.

Title: Forced Impressions Series: N/A Author: Piper Doone Genre: Contemporary Length: Novel (200 pages) Publisher: Dreamspinner Press LLC (January 25th 2016) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥4.25Hearts Blurb: Jonah Landers’s promotion to detective isn’t going so well. His first undercover operation is a disaster thanks to Rafael Santos, a Cuban-American detective so far undercover, no one on Rafael’s Miami-based squad even had a clue he’d already infiltrated the prostitution ring Jonah was targeting. Two years and an insane twist of fate later, Jonah finds himself transferred from Orlando and partnered up with Rafael in Miami—and their rocky beginning doesn’t get any better.
For the sake of their careers and because he realizes he’s falling for Rafael, Jonah makes every attempt to smooth things over and move on with his love life. He turns his attention to A.J. Choya, a Seminole Indian who runs the tech department. But there’s no spark between them, and Jonah has to admit his feelings for Rafael aren’t going away.
When a new case falls into Rafael’s and Jonah’s laps, they must go undercover again and become intimate in a way that forces them to confront their feelings for each other—no matter the consequences.
Review: This is the first Piper Doone book I’ve ever read, and I’m not going to lie, the reviews and low ratings it’s gotten so far made me nervous. But once I started to read it, I immediately got into it and couldn’t put it down.
Jonah Landers’s recent undercover work didn’t end as well as he hoped. His inexperience and nervousness almost made him break cover, and the surprise appearance of another undercover agent almost ruined months of hard work. Jonah got a black eye that will ensure he’ll never forget his first undercover mission, nor the agent who gave him said black eye.
Rafael Santos is a seasoned detective who’s pretty much an expert when it comes to undercover work. What he’s not very good at is communication, and the fact that he “didn’t think” to tell Orlando PD about his undercover work that will bring him into their jurisdiction wasn’t a big deal, right? Rafael and Jonah’s first encounter ended up with Rafael’s fist connecting with Jonah’s face and Rafael had nothing but contempt for Jonah’s inexperience.
Two years later, Rafael and Jonah’s paths cross again. Jonah transferred to Miami after his personal and professional life crashed and burned, and his new partner is none other than Rafael Santos. You know how boys in school act when they love a girl? Rafael spent most of his time tugging on Jonah’s metaphorical pig tails, taunted him and annoyed him, and criticized every single step that Jonah took.
So in case you haven’t gotten the meaning, what Rafael really wanted was to throw Jonah against a wall and fuck the living shit out of him, which he proceeds to do later on in the book.
I loved Rafael’s permanently grumpy and intense mood, which only got worse when Jonah started dating A.J., a tech guy from the station. The relationship between Jonah and Rafael becomes drenched in sexual chemistry and tension. Jonah can’t stop thinking and fantasizing about Rafael and Rafael becomes progressively more frustrated until things come to an explosive end when Rafael and Jonah go undercover together.
All the sexual tension that’s been hanging out throughout the book leads to Rafael and Jonah having the hottest and dirtiest make-out session I’ve seen in a long time! So what if they haven’t been together since the beginning? I really couldn’t care less, because the wait was soooooo worth it! And when they get to the part where they have sex…. mind blown!
In my experience, intense and broody characters deliver the best and hottest sex, and Rafael didn’t disappoint, not even a little bit!
The only thing I would’ve liked to be different is maybe a few additional chapters to expand on Rafael and Jonah’s relationship, and Rafael’s POV (that would’ve made this book perfect!). Other than that, this book hit all the right spots!

Review: Asher Penaz commands complete control in every aspect of his life. He is a no-nonsense police captain when he’s on the job and a brash, sharp, meticulous DOM when he plays. He doesn’t do relationships, kisses, romance, and boyfriends. No. Asher is confident in his life, until he meets an adorable blonde that blushes, has freckles and trips over his own feet in the middle of an empty room.
Daniel Tover stumbles into Asher’s life and neither of them will ever be the same. But when push comes to shove, can the cute guy that is most comfortable in his baggy jeans and flip-flops, soften the rough edges that constantly surround Asher Penaz?
I was drawn into this book from the first stumble in the hotel lobby in Vegas, and pretty much listening intently with bated breath from that point on. Asher is the proverbial alpha male type. Large, brooding, commands compliance as well as your undivided attention.
Daniel couldn’t be more opposite, polar, in fact; the very definition of twink to an extent… short, slender, beautiful, blonde and clumsy. Asher has these rules he lives by and one by one, Daniel has him breaking them all. The rude, crude and usually socially unacceptable Ash begins unknowingly readjusting his life to accommodate Daniel. Cuddling, kissing, dating… and shock of all shocks, he isn’t tying anyone up and inflicting sweet torturous pain on them.
It was an absolute pleasure to sit back and listen as Asher went on this journey of self-awareness he didn’t even know he was on. There was an almost constant monologue of Ash’s inner thoughts as his relationship with Daniel continually grew and evolved. But with the sweets, come the sours. About six months in, a small lack of communication causes a rift and Asher does something Daniel may not be able to forgive him for.
At first glance, you might think this is going to be either an insta-love story since Asher commands Daniel come home with him after only 48 hours of knowing one another, but it is far from. They fall into a comfortable existence, yes, but with each passing day they learn more about each other, grow closer and start to depend on each other.
The whole of this book really is the relationship between Ash and Daniel in great detail. I think my favorite aspect of this story was how Daniel had this kind of calming influence on Ash. A man can’t go from one extreme to the other overnight though, so there were understandably some speed bumps along the way.
The story was narrated by Ezekiel Robison and as I’ve said before, what he lacks in dialect, he makes up for with emotion. He had this big, loud, brash tone for Ash that was absolutely spot on. Daniel was never able to hide anything from Ash, even from the start; he is very much an open book. Robison was able to clearly express Daniel’s moods with differing tones and inflections.
I will say, Asher does something toward the end of the story. It’s a compilation of a bad week at work and that slight lack of communication I spoke of earlier combined with Ash’s jealous streak the size of Texas when it comes to Daniel. This is probably the worst mistake I have ever seen a fictional character that I liked make.
Up until this point, I had been so engrossed in this book that hours would fly by and it felt like 5 minutes. This really pulled me out of the story and had me thinking, what if that had gone the other way, and would Ash have put a stop to it? That is the only reason I knocked off a notch on my review. Sorry, I can’t say, that would be a spoiler.
Overall, this was such a fun read. I was so engaged from start to finish, riding along as Asher learned the meaning of the word Love.

Title: 137 Owens Street, 2nd edition Series: N/A Author: DC Juris Genre: Other Paranormal Length: 61 pages Publisher: Torquere Press (December 16th, 2015) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥4 Hearts Blurb: Matthew is going insane. How else can he explain remembering things he doesn’t own or trips his wife never took? Not to mention the visions, and the phantom in the café. But when the man in the visions reaches out to him with an explanation, and the phantom from the café tracks him down, things start to make a little more sense.
Morgan is a devout Christian. He believes in God, Heaven, Hell, and the Bible. But his world spins out of control when his husband Matthew disappears and a mysterious man tells a tale outside the realm of reality. How can Morgan put his faith in something so far-fetched?
Review: Interesting story about two men, Matthew and Morgan, one of who is searching for the other after he disappears. I found it fascinating regarding different dimensions and the look a likes I guess you would call them in each dimension. This is the case in this book
I loved that Morgan never gave up on Matthew. Matthew for his part knew something was wrong but could not figure out what right away without help. Fascinating and intense at times. Keeps the reader’s attention to the very end. * I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review through http://mmgoodbookreviews.wordpress.com *
Title: The Stolen Suitor Series: N/A Author: Eli Easton Genre: Contemporary Western Length: 270 pages Publisher: Dreamspun Desires, Dreamspinner Press (February 1st, 2016) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥3 Hearts Blurb: All of Clyde’s Corner, Montana, knows local dandy Chris Ramsey will marry Trix Stubben, young widow and heir to the richest ranch in the area. But one woman isn’t too keen on the idea. Mabe Crassen wants to get her hands on that ranch, so she sets her older son to court Trix, and her younger son, Jeremy, to distract Chris and lure him astray.
Jeremy Crassen thinks his mother’s scheme is crazy. But he wants desperately to go off to college, which Mabe will agree to—if he seduces Chris. How will shy, virginal, secretly gay Jeremy attract Chris, who seems determined to do the right thing and marry Trix? Jeremy can’t compete with a rich female widow.
Review: Yikes, I usually love Eli Easton’s books, but like the most recent release (Midwinter Night’s Dream), this one fell short for me. I know exactly what the issues were, and I’m going to address every single one.
Chris’s best friend and Trix’s husband was killed in a freak accident, leaving behind a heartbroken wife, a confused, needy 4-year-old daughter, and a father who lost his only son. Chris is bisexual, but he’s leaning heavily towards the gay side of the scale. His decision to marry Trix is not derived from sexual attraction or love, but more from heartbreak in his personal life and the need to be the support system for his best friend’s broken little family.
Mabe Crassen has other plans in store for Chris and Trix, and none of those end with them happily married to each other. Eric, her older, lazy, couldn’t-give-a-fuck about anything son is to charm the pants off Trix, while Jeremy, her youngest, is given the task to distract Chris by any means necessary. Jeremy and Eric are very different from each other.
While Eric doesn’t really have any passions or motivation to become someone successful, Jeremy is a very smart, quiet and a talented writer who never had the opportunity to go to college and follow his dreams. Jeremy has always kept his sexuality a secret for fear of being treated like a freak. His relationship with Chris seemed forced to me, especially since there wasn’t much focus on it and the chemistry was pretty much nonexistent for most of the story.
There are two things that have absolutely no place in a book, and those happened both in Midwinter Night’s Dream as well as in this book: multiple POVs and a MF relationship thrown into the mix (it was a FF relationship in Midwinter Night’s Dream, but it was unwelcome nonetheless).
The multiple POVs distracted from Jeremy and Chris’s story to the point where I didn’t feel like they were the main characters anymore. Everyone and their cat had a POV, including Trix, Eric, Mabe (Jeremy and Eric’s mother) and Mabe’s old sweetheart Billy, who’s also Trix’s father in law. They all got a lot of page time people, and I was disappointed by that!
The writing was pretty good, and I’m happy that’s one thing that doesn’t change in Eli’s books. I sincerely hope that future books will be MM only, with only two POVs that belong entirely to the main characters.

Review:Fitting In is a scorching, sexy story. Mason meets two cops that are obviously in a relationship, but he can’t help but fantasize. One night his fantasy comes true when Mason and Jack how up and ‘arrest’ him. He enjoys his night knowing it will be the one and only having had bad experience being a third in a relationship. Will one night be enough for these three men?
This story is very well-narrated. Greg Boudreaux has a calm and relaxing voice. It is easy to follow the story the way he tells it. His inflections of Mason’s view are extremely well done and hot. Gray and Jack’s voices are also easy to discern from Mason. He makes the story fascinating and smoking hot.
Fitting In is so sexy that I don’t recommend listening to this in public without good earphones!
If you like bartenders, cops, threesomes, cop fetishes, and some sweltering man-sex, this is for you.
