On Your Knees, Prospect

(Kings of Hell MC 03)
by

K.A. Merikan

— There is freedom in blacking boots for the right man. —

Jake. Kings of Hell MC Prospect. Obedient. Desperate for approval.

Vars. Dominant. Stern. Undead.

Jake is itching to become a patched member of the Kings of Hell MC.

For two years he’s toiled as the only prospect. So when a new guy swans in and thinks he’ll get a patch in no time just because he’s got friends in high places, Jake is there to stand in his way.

Only that the guy is older, more experienced, drives a Harley, and has the kind of boots Jake craves to lick.

But he won’t.

Because he only fucks patches.

Vars is ready to find a new home in the Kings of Hell MC after a messy relationship led him straight to hell. In comparison, the pretty, blue-eyed prospect could be just the pleasant rebound he needs.

The boy is a brat, but that could be amended with a firm hand and a gag.

If only Jake was ready to admit to his submissive needs, Vars would gladly take him under his wing.

That is, until he finds out something inhuman resides inside of Jake.

Vars didn’t cheat death only to call out to it again.

But stuck together in one room, keeping each other’s secrets, they might just have to become allies, no matter how unwilling. Because if there is something Vars can’t resist, it’s a boy with pleading eyes.

“You are mine now, boy. This room is soundproof. No one will hear you scream.”
“Yes, sir. My body is yours.”

WARNING: This story contains scenes of violence, offensive language, and morally ambiguous characters.

Review: This story is a sequel to Darkest Hour Before Dawn. With these stories they must be read in order to get the full impact of these stories. They are action packed that will keep you entertained through out the whole thing.

Dex runs into Sloane on day one, and for some reason it just catches them. Sloane fell in love with his eyes, but because of is loss, he was fighting it the whole way. Sparks past comes to bite her in the ass, but now she looks just a bit more softer. Her relationship with Maddock is on the rocks. But through it all, family is family, and they have each others back.

With many books where the characters are not changed, things get dicey and a bit boring. Too much of one is sometimes old. However with this series, that doesn’t happen. It is as exciting and makes your world rock each and every time you read it. Although with this series, I didn’t read the first book but heard the audio. Lets just say it caught my attention from the start and kept it all the way to the end. That is the way it was with this book as well.

There are some major twists to this story that will shock you all. I was quite surprised to find out who was behind it all. What was interesting was it gave me hope that there will be more love stories in this series, or at least one possible couple I saw in it. These two are perfect for each other. There is nothing about this series that I didn’t love. It is one of my ultimate favorite stories and Charlie Cochet has become a favorite of mine. She has an imagination that will keep one fascinated and entertained.

I enjoyed reading this and can’t wait to get my hands on the next book. I would definitely recommend it.

Review: Filo has been in space for quite some time. The blurb is really kind of off. In the story it says Filo, and three others. He is not exactly human but more like he was created or engineered. He was a fighting soldier, but had no taste for blood. So he asked to be put into space to work. Luz is sexy as hell and wants Filo, even tried to walk around naked to get a reaction. Now with it being Claus Day, he knows how to make it work.

This was not one of the stories I would have chosen for the holidays. There were parts of it that were off which made it hard to work out. It also starts off really dry and dull, and now I know all about space stations. Then it comes to naked men, and yeah just really bizarre. It was not my kind of story and did nothing for me. The ending was really nice, but I just don’t see how they get from one point to the steaming want in the end. I am sorry but this book was just not for me.

Review: I came across this author just a few months ago, but from the way his stories unfold, I knew that I would forever read them. They are not just finding love type of stories but always have a tale inside of it. Such as this story does.

Danny was a twenty-one year old young man who was living in hell. His older boyfriend was basically a piece of crap. He dictates what Danny is to wear, what he is to eat, and beats the shit out of him for whatever reason he can come up with. Danny just doesn’t know how to get away. He was barely making money, his car was crap and he had nowhere to go. That is until after one beating, Danny goes to the Club House.

Jay owns the Club House, the only gay bar around. He is a sweet and peaceful man with a big heart. He has noticed Danny and Danny’s boyfriend from time to time. He lost his own love over a year ago and was slowly healing. Now he realizes Danny is in trouble.

The only thing I did not like in this story was Ernie’s death. He was one of my favorites. Beautiful and loving characters, along with total asshats, frisky pets and one damn hero rattlesnake is just a bit of what you get with this book. There is also excitement, adventure, danger, an insane asshat, and some hot sex is just a bit more. Things really heat up when they find out just how dangerous Josh really is.

This story has quite a bit of different emotion’s flowing through it, but John has balanced them perfectly. I also love the way Josh got his. Perfection in the whole thing. This was a hell of a story and a blast to read. I can’t wait to get the Josh Inman’s next book.

I had a lot of fun with it and will guarantee you will too.

Review: This is the first book by this author that I have read and I do hope they turn this into a series. It has been one of the best mysteries I have came across in awhile. There are very few authors of mystery that catch my eye with their stories, but this one did just that.

August was sixteen when he first was contacted by a deceased person. He was able to locate their bodies and bring them home. After awhile the police decided to keep him on, even if he was not going to get paid for it. Not all of them were dead, but most were. It left him many times in a dark place. The man he had loved had cheated on him with his best friend, leaving him not wanting to connect with others. Cherry was the only one left. Well except for the two detectives who he helped for over five years. One of them was drop dead gorgeous also.

Luke is one of the best detectives at the station. Him and his partner were the ones that helped August out. He had been married once and lost her, but now his heart was slowly leaning towards August. With all the deaths and beatings going on, he knew he had to keep August safe. When one of the living victims keeps Augusts attention, they find a new and surprising direction. The past comes pretty much back to circle.

This was a fantastic read, and I have to say that I didn’t expect the killer to be who they were. Although I will also say, that the way the person acted kind of gave you pause. It was pretty cool though and I loved the guys together. I didn’t care for one part of it, which was Oliver’s part. However I was glad to see in the end he even got a good ending, sort of. This story caught my attention from the start and I just couldn’t put the book down. The plot is super tight and very unique.

I had a lot of fun reading this and can’t wait to see the rest of this author’s work. I would definitely recommend this book.

Blurb: Brian Watson knows close friends Gerald Young and Dieter Krumpf have an ulterior motive when they invite him to their Christmas party. Brian has taken over the case to secure the return of the famous painting called The Woman in Blue to Dieter, but they don’t want Brian to be all work and no play. They intend to set him up with a friend, but he’s not who catches Brian’s eye. Instead, it’s Nicolai, the deaf art restorer caring for the works already returned to Dieter.

But pursuing Nicolai won’t be easy. A year ago Nicolai had to fight to regain his independence after a bad break-up, and he’s reluctant to give up his freedom a second time. Plus, Brian has competition in Justin, Nicolai’s ex, who wants him back badly.

Nicolai’s reluctance isn’t the only roadblock. Brian was married to a woman for almost 10 years. Now he has to confess to his mother, his ex-wife, and his young daughter that he loves a man, all while conducting a potentially groundbreaking court case and trying to convince Nicolai that love isn’t about co-dependence, it’s about support.

Review: Artistic Appeal is the second installment of Andrew Grey’s Arts Stories series. If you’ve enjoyed reading the book, the audio narrated by John Solo is an absolute joy to read. Solo’s efforts to bring the characters to life had me enthralled and it made a train ride and shopping in the city fun (as well as helping me avoid people handing out leaflets).

Artistic Appeal can read/heard as a standalone book. Honestly, it’s been a while since I have read the first book in the series and don’t really remember too much of it. Yet I had no problem picking up the story and the threads of sub plot that continued from the previous story. However, in saying that I now want to go back and reacquaint myself with Gerald and Dieter’s story.

The story follows recently divorced, single dad Brian Watson. He’s friend and boss to Gerald from book 1. That means he’s a lawyer and a damn good one. After being set up by his friends, among the few people that know his true sexuality, Brian meets arts restorer, Nicolai. Nic is deaf after losing what little hearing he had by the age of ten. It is Brian and Gerald’s work on the art scene, dealing with stolen art and the like, that brings Nic into their circle.

Brian and Nic are just ordinary guys, though. Brian needs to come out of the closet to those who are closest to him and that includes his harpy of an ex-wife. At the same time he’s enjoying a massive upswing in his career while trying what could possibly be his hardest case to date. On the other hand, Nic’s career is only just building after the GFC saw a decrease in the number of clients willing to pay to have their artwork restored. Similar to Brian, he also has seen the end of the relationship in the past year and unfortunately his ex is suddenly unwilling to let go Nic. Nic has only just got used to being on his own and regained his independence rather than rely on another man for so many things because of his deafness. Needless to say, he’s a little reticent to let another man into his heart.

Grey has a knack with writing characters that feel real and are totally relatable. He also has a knack to write wonderful child characters and allows the family to form organically. This story is no different, Brian’s daughter Zoe is a wonderful character in her own right.

If you are unfamiliar with the Arts Stories series, then those familiar with Grey’s Senses series, would also enjoy these books/audios. However, if you ask me anything Grey writes is gold and he is a must-buy for every book release.

Reviewer: Shorty

Review: In Enlightened. Jamie and Brian live in a small town where certain things are not tolerated. Being two gay young men and in a relationship is hard enough. Add to that they have to keep their relationship a secret or face being bullied is even worse. I felt so bad for these two young men. I wanted to take them away from that bigoted town so they could be themselves without fear.

In Abandoned with Jamie gone to California with his parents Brian is faced with the hateful and evil Mosley. The girl Jamie dated in the first book has a brother that is a bully and makes it his life’s mission to rain hell down on Brian. I was horrified at the lengths high school kids went to intentionally hurt someone in the name of religion. It disgusted me that someone like that calls themselves a christian.

In Vanished Brian is searching for Jamie. He heads to San Diego and makes some new friends, Mike and Emillio. I loved all these guys interactions and the help they give Brian. But more happens that I was not expecting. A twist that threw me for a curve.

In Discovered Brian finds Jamie strung out on drugs and being forced into porn and prostituted out. I found this highly disturbing. Where were his parents during all this since they took him there to begin with. I felt so bad for Jamie yet at the same time I did not understand why he did not leave.

In Escaped we have Jamie struggling to leave his current life behind to be with Brian. He has a long struggle a head of him but with Brian’s help I know he can do it. Very emotionally draining book.

In Sacrificed Brian and Jamie’s journey finally comes to an end with them together after many mistakes along the way.

I liked the series but felt at times it was drawn out. I felt uncomfortable about what happened with Jamie and his pimp/boyfriend before he got back together with Brian.

Blurb: Werecats mating with humans was bad enough…. But an Alpha werewolf?

Aidric’s life takes an unexpected turn when he meets Alpha Carter Lovelock of the Dark Lake Pack—who is apparently his mate. Now Aidric must decide whether to accept the mate the goddess chose, or deny her gift because cats and dogs just don’t mix.

Carter is in a pickle. He always assumed his mate would be a female werewolf. How else is Carter supposed to carry on his line and retain Alphaship? When Aidric comes into his life, Carter’s ex, Sabrina, isn’t giving up easily. Her brother, Delaney, is a thorn in Carter’s side, and some of the other werewolves go out of their way to make Aidric feel unwelcome, including one of his deltas, Evan.

Unfortunately, what little headway they make is destroyed during a full moon hunt when enemy werewolves attack Aidric and threaten the pack house where the Dark Lake pups are kept—an ambush that could have devastating consequences on their future.

Werewolves are notoriously insular, and before Carter and Aidric can build the life they want with each other, they’ll face a fight for acceptance.

Review: Each book in the Fur, Fangs, and Felines collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Dogs and cats don’t normally get along, but it would seem fate has another idea. Aidric is a beta for his clowder and loves his friends. He is however a bit closed off and stays in his own little world sometimes. However he is damn good at his job. Now he is torn in two trying to decide whether to follow his heart or stay where he is at. His mate is a werewolf, and werewolves are asshats.

Carter was in a relationship with a bimbo who has her heart set out on being the alpha’s mate. To bad for her that Carter has found his mate. Which is not going to go well, for his mate is male and a cat. Going to be real interesting. First they have to survive an attack to the pack.

Fascinating story that always intrigue me. I love the idea of cat and a dog getting together. Although there are so many stories involving feline shifters and wolf shifters, but this one has a serious tone to it with quite a bit of fun as well. The characters are sexy and fully developed. The story is entertaining and quite a bit of fun to read. It is action packed, danger filled and full of heat.

I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to the next book. I loved the characters and their stories. I would definitely recommend this book.

His Taken Omega

(Mountain Shifters 11)
by

L.C. Davis

It is a standalone within the Mountain Shifter universe.

Nicholas wants nothing to do with omegas, and Avery has already signed a contract binding him to another Alpha. Fate has other plans for them both.

As the omega spokesman for the infamous Futurus Initiative, Avery Callahan is a controversial figure who’s used to being envied, occasionally despised and always the center of attention. His kidnapping at the hands of the twisted omega at the helm of the radical anti-Futurus group known as Epsilon shook his perfect world to the core, and Avery’s abnormally conventional parents no longer know what to do with him. In a last-ditch effort to save their son’s reputation—and his engagement to a prestigious politician—the Callahans send him to the small, idyllic pack of Southbend for some much-needed rest and recovery.

When Avery arrives in Southbend, he finds the Meyer household anything but welcoming and he immediately clashes with the rakishly reluctant head of the household. Nicholas might be a brilliant lawyer with good looks and charm in abundance, but he makes no secret of the fact that Avery is persona non-grata in his pack. How is Avery supposed to heal his own wounds when an Alpha who looks at every omega with disdain makes him question everything, including his participation in the breeding program he’s devoted his life to promoting?

~

Nicholas has it all on the surface—rising-star status as an attorney with his own practice, a sizable inheritance and the option of going home with any omega he chooses at the end of the night—but beneath the mask of his status, he hides a secret that makes him feel unworthy of the title of Alpha. Past abuse has left him with a deep-seated revulsion towards omegas, the very class of shifter he’s supposed to crave. He uses work and meaningless flings with other Alphas and betas to distract himself from the family life he

doesn’t believe he deserves, but in the wake of his estranged father’s death, Nicholas is called home to take on a role he never wanted.

Forced to give up his high-profile career and take the reins of his family’s pack, Nicholas finds himself wholly unprepared to fill the shoes of the man he hated. Because fate isn’t cruel enough, the Spirits choose this moment to send him his destined mate—a charming yet infuriatingly stubborn omega he can never love or even claim. At least, that’s what he thinks until he realizes that the very traits that repel him from other omegas draw him to Avery in a way he finds as bewildering as it is intoxicating.

Christina Lee & Felice Stevens

Quinn Monahan and Grayson Page have been friends since high school. Despite their differences, they’ve been there for each other through thick and thin. Opening Last Call together, a bar tucked away in the small town of Heartsville, PA seemed a natural progression—even if it makes it harder to live with the secret longing they’ve always had for each other.

Hoping to score an easy buck and a place to sleep, unemployed circus roadie Emery Woods chooses Last Call to run a few bets and enjoy a decent beer before moving on. When he finds himself stranded, the unexpected kindness Quinn and Gray show him leads to temporary work and a couch to lay his head. Sensing unresolved history between Quinn and Gray, he squashes his immediate draw to the men, opting to avoid trouble. But as days turn into weeks, denying the attraction is easier said than done.

When the men finally give in to the simmering sexual tension, it quickly develops into more than a way to pass the lonely nights. And as they begin to lean on each other for emotional support, it becomes nearly impossible to think of one man without the other two. But while Quinn and Gray are afraid to cross the line of friendship between them, Emery fears once they do, he’ll quickly be cast aside. Blurb: Tired of the London rat race and the heartbreak that comes with it, photographer Jas Manning returns to Porthkennack, the Cornish seaside town where he spent every childhood summer on his father’s farm. Resigned to year-round rain, wind, and homemade jam, he’s sorely unprepared for the impact that artsy carpenter Kim Penrose has on his heart.

Kim’s free-loving reputation precedes him, and he’s as generous with his inked-up body as he is with his time. The sex is hot, the easy friendship even better, and Jas’s time with him building his family’s new farmhouse canteen is everything Jas was missing in his empty city life.

But Kim’s carefree existence isn’t as simple as it appears. He’s worked hard to vanquish his demons and build his dreams, but the devil on his shoulder is ruthless, and when it comes to call, their happy bubble bursts like it was never there at all. The canteen opening looms, but Kim is gone in more ways than one, and it’s down to Jas to shore up Kim’s soul and convince him that he deserves his place in Jas’s heart.

Review: I’ve admitted long ago that Garrett Leigh is like crack to me, but unlike some addicts, I don’t have any desire to get clean. I love Leigh’s brand of angst, love how it rips my heart and makes me bleed, love feeling the angst like a physical blow while I fear it at the same time. Junkyard Heart is definitely Leigh’s creation and I feel like I could tell who wrote it even if I had to guess.

We know Kim from the previous Porthkennack book written by Garrett Leigh. Kim is a bisexual man whose open relationship with his long-time girlfriend made me skeptical about reading his book. Kim is battling his own demons in the form of alcohol addiction and a sometimes fragile mental health. His need for Jas runs bone-deep; Jas a that one person that Kim needs to have in his life in whatever way possible.

Jas has been a player all his life, a serial cheater who has always dated both men and women at the same time. That is until karma caught up to him, and the person Jas fell in love with and has dedicated 5 years of his life to was revealed as a married man. Jai’s broken heart drove him all the way to Porthkennack, where his father, step-mother and brothers all live. Jas believes he’s no relationship material and he’s done falling in love with men or women both, but his chemistry with Kim turns his world upside down. Staying away from Kim is simply not possible, no matter how complicated their relationship is.

I loved Jas and Kim together, their relationship and chemistry is intense and passionate, pretty much everything I could hope for. What didn’t work for me, and the real reason this book only gets 4 hearts from me, is Lena and the weird part she plays in Jas and Kim’s relationship. I get who she is to Kim, I understand their friendship, but…. why the fuck would Jas desire to see Lena and Kim fuck? I didn’t feel like Jas and Kim’s relationship had any room for a third, even if that third person is only hypothetical. I disliked that Lena watched Jas and Kim fuck, and it creeped me out that she kissed Jas’s head in the middle of it. I was half expecting her to guide his dick as well! *Lena did not have any actual sex with either of them and there was no cheating!*

Aside from the awkwardness that is Lena, I love everything about this book! Great read!

Review: Samuel is living his life the way he wanted, even if he was alone. He lived in the beautiful Ozarks with his amazing birds. Except now he was out in the cold searching for his favorite turkey. She did love to wander. To bad she ended up at his neighbor’s house. Raymond is a man who is just a bit older than Samuel, but he had never settled down. That is until his uncle passed away and left him his house. These two are perfect for each other, weird all the way around.

I was expecting a Christmas story when I was given this but it was still pretty cool. Although the grumpy old man side does come out with these two. Thanksgiving day and turkeys aside, it was a pretty good book. Although the cover was a bit dull, the story was entertaining.

I enjoyed reading it and it makes good for when you need a quick read.

Review: Frankie works his ass off at Mason’s Emporium and day dreams about his boss. He just hadn’t dreamed that he would accidentally lock them both in a store room at work. Sounds kind of fun to me. These two are more different then one would expect, but they also show how much they are alike.

This one was a blast to read and the characters rocked it. It has a lot of humor in it which is a major plus to me. At first I wasn’t to sure about Bill, but he changes my mind real quick. I loved Frankie, he is just so quirky and true. It was a cute little story for Christmas that had a lot of details and depth to it.

I enjoyed it quite a bit and would guarantee that you will too.

Review: It is a small world for some. Ethan, who just wants to lay around doing nothing on his Saturday, ends up going to the mall. His crazy little sister and her request. At least there is one sexy man there who needed to buy a different present. Can you see two strong men going to a store meant to cater women, crazy.

It is a cute little story but it just gives you a taste. Meet and like each other, then togetherness. Christmas in Australia, warm weather ahead. I am afraid that I would rather have Christmas surrounded by snow. It is cute, but I do hope this author turns around and makes it into a longer story. It has great potential, but as a short story doesn’t really give you a lot. Other than that it is a fun little read.

Review: I came across this author about three books ago and was quite fascinated by the worlds he creates. In fact he was the one that turned my heart onto mysteries and horror stories. I must admit that I have never read a story that involved what this one involves, so that made it quite unique.

Ash and Tucker have been best friends for many years. One night in Mexico, made it even better. Now they have decided to go out and enjoy nature. Boy were they in for one long hike. They were taking their two cute dogs on a three week hike across the San Bernardino Mountains to Big Bear Lake. Now that is a lot of walking to do.

Coming across a old gentle man and his dog made their trip a little easier. Well that is until they were warned that something wasn’t up with the animals. On top of that they were coming to grips with their feelings for each other and damn does it heat up.

Now this author did a great job with the mixture of feelings between these two. As well as writing about their walk. He gives you sightings of wild and weird animals, dead animal bodies, and then he gives you one slamming and sitting on the edge of your seat ending. It is one of those stories that catches your attention from the start and you just can’t put it down till you finish it.

I truly love this author’s writings and this was a damn good one. I had a blast with it and probably won’t be going hiking anytime soon. I can honestly say this is probably my favorite one so far. I can guarantee that you will love this book. Way to go John Inman!!!

Blurb: Sammy Raphael is a crappy witch, and on top of that, he can’t seem to get a boyfriend. Where other supernaturals can bring down lightning and manifest wealth, Sammy can paint. Granted, the “prophetic” paintings he creates at night always come true, but they never predict anything important. Sammy feels like a total loser with a worthless ability. One night he paints a gorgeous guy who turns out to be his secret crush, the human Ryder, but Ryder’s changed so much he’s almost unrecognizably beautiful. Then Sammy paints an angel who turns out to be a witch. But is that witch also a devil—a devil who can bring down Sammy’s whole community and everyone he loves? And why the hell does Ryder keep changing? Aloysius, the black cat familiar, always backs a winner. So why is he backing Sammy?

This story was first published with Loose Id in 2012.

Review: Sammy is one of a kind. What he draws seems to come true. Although he would wish he could keep his cloths on through a vision. He also never saw the true part of his visions, because to him he had no clue that was what they were. One day in class, the head witch’s cat took a big liking to him. In one of his visions, he sees a very sexy young man. A man that turns out to be the one he has a crush on.

Ryder was a shy kid and pretty damn short. However back on campus, he has grown quite a bit. He likes Sammy, but he takes up with Lucien. Lucien is not who he appears to be and danger has set in. To top it off his whole family wants to see him married, to bad his eyes are on a certain witch.

Very intriguing story and the world that they live in sounds pretty cool. I always loved the magical type stories and no one gets magic like a witch. I loved the black cat, Aloysius. He is a blast and definitely smarter than most humans. The story caught my attention from the start and kept it all the way to the end.

I had a blast reading this and can’t wait to get my hands on the next book. It is fully developed and the plot just rocks. I can see myself reading this more than once. I had a lot of fun and can guarantee that you will also.

Now they’re stuck together throughout Van’s healing process, and the close proximity will force them to deal with some hard truths. For Tobias, it’s realizing his hookup is a celebrity. Review: The Players of LA Series are standalones, but characters from each book to appear in subsequent novels. It is recommended to read in order to maximize the reading experience.

Sullivan was a pretty well known in sports. He however had one hell of a secret, he was gay. One night hookup with Toby left him wanting more. However he was afraid of what would happen if others found out. Then when he is injured on the field, part of his rehabilitation is to do yoga. Guess who is his teacher.

Toby is a sweet young man who has had a rough time. He is out and prowd, but his ex has left him scared of big and scary men. He runs from Archer, but finds himself teaching him yoga anyway. Except for this time, they were alone. Things heat up real fast, and when the ex comes back, Archer knew he would do anything to protect the one he loves.

Now I have never been a fan of stories that involve sports. Probably because I have no idea of what they are talking about. However this author is amazing. I read book three in this series before reading the others, and lets just say that if this author is behind the books, then ten to one I will continue to read.

The characters are so real and the action is off the charts. You get so much in this story that you just can’t take your eyes off of it. There is even danger added in which for me is a bonus. I had a lot of fun reading this and can’t wait to read the other books. I would definitely recommend this book.

Junkyard Heart

(Porthkennack 07)
by

Garrett Leigh

Tired of the London rat race and the heartbreak that comes with it, photographer Jas Manning returns to Porthkennack, the Cornish seaside town where he spent every childhood summer on his father’s farm.
