Blurb: When something is perfect, it sets itself up to be destroyed, and for everything gained, something is lost.

Since Dryden was young, his mother taught him about balance. While she weaves jewelry to sell at the marketplace, Dryden learns how every unspoiled gem begs to be damaged, just like the universe corrects every misfortune.

But with age and experience, Dryden begins to see the cracks in his mother’s naïve view of life. If she is wrong about balance, she might be wrong about the supposed beast in the woods. Dryden ventures into the forbidden, where a handsome hunter named Otto saves him from a deranged fox and seduces him. But like so much else, Otto has an unseen side, and if Dryden wants to regain his freedom and break Otto’s spell, he’ll have to answer three riddles in three days.

With the help of his mother’s stories and the fox who once threatened him, Dryden must beat the monster and restore balance to his world. But it will come at a cost.

Review: This is a thoroughly enjoyable book. It isn’t so much as long or intense read but I did find the writing and descriptions a bit of a hindrance at times, though I suspect that is because I got a short attention span.

The story follows Dryden, whose mother has taught him something that is along the lines of “every action has an equal and opposite reaction” – that’s Newton’s Third Law but it generally applies to karma, too, I suppose. Now grown up, Dryden goes on an adventure which starts with him going into a forbidden forest (that’s always a sign of doom). Dryden is very naive when it comes to being saved and later getting to know the mysterious Otto. Sometimes it felt like that Otto wasn’t really the face of evil (which is the kind of role he has in this book) but more that he was experienced, knew what he wanted and more than aware of the harsh realities of life. Then there is the fox shifter, Eammon, I don’t want to go too much into his character because I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but he is the kind of personality that I hoped that Dryden would become. I found him the most relatable character.

One thing I really loved about this was the fairy tale aspect. Francis Gideon has gone to great lengths to deliver a traditionally structured fairy tale and all the elements are there. There are great life lessons, a few morals and moral dilemmas thrown in, as well as the usual good overcoming evil and whatnot.

This is more of a young adult coming to age type of adventure more than a romance but the romance that was there felt so natural with the evolution of the story. Very sweet and sexy. It was also a bit angst-y at times, which is something that I don’t always connect with as a reader.

Review: Each book in the Wolves of Stone Ridge collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order. This story is branched off into many directions so there is a lot of fun out there.

Wendell had just wanted to have some fun but he has the worst taste in one night stands. It nearly ends him up dead but he come out of it pretty beaten up. He swears not again, that is until his friend at work’s brother steps in and gives him a ride. Now get your minds out of the gutters, I am talking about a nice car ride, but maybe a bit later for the other kind of ride. Too bad that last one night stand keeps coming around.

Teague is a wolf shifter who has a love of old cars, and damn does he have a nice ride. When his brother Cecil tells him about his friend at work, he just wants to cheer him up and maybe find out who is trying to hurt the little guy. However he has found his mate and will do anything to protect his sweet mate.

I have always been a fan of this author and her stories just keep rocking my day. This one has a sweet tone to it, but some danger that will boil your blood. It moves at the perfect pace for me and is the absolute perfect length to keep my attention. My attention had been caught from the moment I started reading and kept it all the way to the end. You even get some hot and sexy times going on in this book. I was glad to see Jared and Carson are still the same after so long. There are a few laughs going on in here as always, which is a major plus for me.

I had a blast reading this and can’t wait to get my hands on the next book. This is one series that will be read many times over.

Review: So much happens in this exciting addition of the moon pack series. Quinn is a seer and despairs of ever escaping his captors who have tortured him for his his visions when one day he sees a man named Peter, who is a wolf and his mate. Peter promises to save him and a days later the vision comes true. But Quinn has a bracelet on that prevents him from shifting so Peter takes him to Anthony to remove it.

Quinn in return becomes Anthony’s seer. Peter wants to be happy but his past is haunting him. He can not get over what happened to him and his pack at the hands of the scientists. I loved this story as it combined two couples. I loved Peter and Quinn while at the same time I was sad for all they had been through.

Anthony and Silver was a nice set up for another book. I was intrigued by the events taking place and eagerly awaiting the next book.

Highly recommended.

Review: Each book in the Hot Mess collection features our two sexy men, Salvador and Lany. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Lany doesn’t need to look for trouble, trouble seems to find him. In this case, he decided to arrange a party for children that don’t truly have a home or family. What he finds is children who are in need of help, the kind of help his husband is good for.

Sal loves his husband deeply but for once couldn’t he just stay safe. Oh no he finds some kids, which leads him to a very dark scene where his talent will help. There is one thing he can say, Lany always seems to get himself out of trouble, but these kids need both of them and more.

I have always gotten a kick out of this series and can’t seem to get them fast enough. Which is pretty weird for me, once the same characters have gone into the third book I am usually bored as hell. But not with this series, it is entertaining, exciting, adventurous and funny as hell at times. There is always danger and some pretty hot sexy times for our two sexy men. As always this story caught my attention from the start and kept it all the way to the end. It gave me everything I could want in a story.

I hope this series doesn’t stop, they have me laughing my ass off throughout the story. Although there are some times I want to smack someone around.

I had a blast reading this and can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.

Review: Rowan gets his dream job at an exclusive BDSM retreat where he is able to put his submissive side to good use helping dominants. Lorcan decides on a long retreat after selling his business.

When Rowan and Lorcan meet the pages do not seem big enough to contain the sparks and passion between these two as they get to know each other better.

I liked the atmosphere of the story and the struggles that the characters are going through as they traverse their new lives. The actual retreat was breathtaking and very isolated. I did notice that this series seems similar to Tales From the edge which was a great series.

Overall this story was a beautiful start to the series. Awesome read.

Review: Each book in the D.O.A. collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

When working for the defence you don’t always get to help the innocent. However that was what Rylee wanted. He didn’t want to defend rich asshats who bribe their way through the courts and were as guilty as hell. So when his boss wanted him to defend a creep he had gotten off the last time, that was it, it was time to call it quits. He wanted a fresh start in a way, but he also wanted the one man he knew was his.

Taj was just taking his time and letting Rylee get used to being free before mating him. Although dragon’s do have a different name for it. However their Sentience was attracting some dangerous creatures, but Rylee was bound and determined to get the man out of a murder charge, but there are some pretty good surprises in store for you with this book.

I could not figure out what happened to Deak in the end, but I will have to go back and read it again to see if I could figure it out. Excitement, adventure, action, danger and some hot sexy times are just a bit of what you get in this book. The characters are smoking hot and damn I wish I had a dragon shifter for a mate. This story caught my attention from the start and kept it all the way to the end. It gave me everything I could want in a story and so much more.

I had a blast reading this story and can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.

Review: Great story about the differences between populations, mystery and romance. I loved both Daveth and Jory. They both fascinated for different reasons. Daveth’s determination to do better for himself inspired me. Jory’s a mystery that had me from the start. I enjoyed reading about him immensely.

While they are getting to know one another they are both caught up in a mystery that they desperately try to understand. While some of the story had me scratching my head it fit with the overall setting. Nothing is as it seems and trust is something both men need if they are to survive.

Twists and turns are around every corner in this fascinating tale. I truly loved the dynamics as Jory and Daveth fought to keep ahead of the surprises that awaited them. Great cast of characters that added to an already good story.

Great read.

Review: I really wanted to love this story. It had all the right aspects to it in a vampire story for me. The thing that kept me from loving was all the POV’s in it. It threw me for a loop that almost all the main characters good and bad had one. The mystery was completely gone as we knew what was going to happen before Danny did.

I prefer to guess at what is to come not be told but aside from that it was a really good story of Danny being attacked one night and going to his ex Kier, a vampire, for help. After finding out Kier was a vampire Danny left him so now he owns up to his mistake and asks for help.

I loved both characters and how they come to grips with each other. The baddies in this story had their own agendas depending on the group. There was no shortage of dangerous situations Danny and Kier find themselves in.

Good read.

Review:  Each book in the Sniper Team Bravo collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

I came across Maia when the first book in this series came out and I have to say that she does have an amazing gift at telling a story.  I always did love a good man in a uniform who is sexy, loyal and damn good with a gun.  I also liked the fact that in the blurb she explains a bit about what the title itself means.  In this book, no impact means a sniper has missed his target and all hell is about to happen.

It is not only an entertaining tale, but is full of action, hot sex and danger.  There is just a hint of humor in it that makes it even better.  Usually it is when Sam gets called Pretty Boy, thanks to Finn but damn it is funny all the same.  Nicknames do stick with you sometimes.

Riley has taken the bid to build for the sniper team bravo unit, but he has a secret at the real reason.  His grandmother was the true owner of the land and had tried to leave it to his father.  The grandmother and his father should be rotting in hell from the way they were with him.  He wanted to help build a happy place instead of what it once was.  That secret might just cost him though.  He wants Marcel and his first time at getting the man was a shot down, hence the name.

Marcel wants the man and has wanted him from the moment he first saw him.  However he can’t stand a liar or someone that keeps secrets.  And it is one that his sexy man is hiding from him that might blow their new, fresh relationship up.  That, and the fact that someone wants them to not only stop building but cost him Riley’s life.

This is a very intriguing story that was quite a bit of fun to read.  I had to actually go back and read the whole series over once more.  I loved the characters and the way they are with each other.  They might be a sniper team but they were also a tight family.  I loved that about them and was glad that the author turned it that way.

I would definitely recommend this book.

Review: Dimitri is the guy you go to when you need a loved one ready to bury. He is the magic of the place, not really he is just that good. He is a Komodo dragon shifter who keeps picking out the wimps to date. That is until the brother of one of his bodies shows up. Miles is a very sexy lion shifter who just so happens to be in the closet. Now he has been sent with his sister’s body to get her ready for her funeral. Creepy is how it sounds, but hey these two are mates.

Ok for one this story was a blast to read. The parents were a hoot and gave me a good laugh. Now when I came across this author, which was this morning, I read two of her other stories. The words were similar and so were many of the practices in this book as in those other books. Which tells me this author focuses on certain things. Which is neither good nor bad, but makes the books a bit off to me.

The editorial part of the book was off, there were many mistakes that could be found in the book. The idea for the book was exceptional, but this author needs better betas who should have caught the problems. Also there was no conflict in it, it was like being programmed to say yes and cool all the time. Too happy from everyone in the end. No real chemistry, just instamate and instasex from the moment they met.

Now for all those issues, this story does have potential. I actually had a blast reading it, but it really needs to be fixed up to make it better.

What Felix didn’t count on was meeting a man who turned his world around and brought something other than art to focus for him. Tse Soto is intriguing, passionate, and open in ways Felix quickly comes to appreciate.

But Felix’s past isn’t what he believed it to be, and what he learns about it could be more than he can handle.

Review: Felix and Tse were great characters. I loved these two men together. Their strengths and weaknesses added a delightful spin on the story as it progressed. Felix’s past comes back to haunt him and Tse is there to help along the way.

The mystery aspect of the story was well written and intriguing to read as it unfolded. I have enjoyed this series about hunky guys in calendar shoot where things do not go as planned and sometimes dangerous situations arise. It was interesting as how each man handled said situations.

Fantastic read.

Review: Leo was one of the lucky winners to get to go to Zata. Zata was the first alien world that Earth has ever came across. They were the ones to come to Earth just over a year ago to trade. Now they were inviting them to come visit and for a celebration. He never thought that he might be gay but I guess that changes when he finds out that he is a Zata mate.

Arex is the youngest prince of Zata. He has always wanted to find his true mate, but he never thought he would. He just hoped that one of the humans was his. He also hoped that he would have a child by his mate. Now all he has to do is to convince Leo that they were meant to be together.

I wasn’t really sure about this story not even when I read it the second time. First off the Zata’s didn’t tell the humans that the party was for mating. Second the kid didn’t even know he was gay. Third basically the little purple fruit was a drug making the kid go further then he would have normally. The world needs more building to it then just what we got. It was basically go to a planet you haven’t been on, meet the aliens, have sex then right off the bat you’re pregnant and boom you’re in love, well that just makes it weirder then it already was. This whole story was just what it seems a fantasy.

Other than those issues it would be a great book had there been more to it, and it didn’t come off as rushed by the author. I could see it being a four point five to a five heart book had it had more detail and lots more going on then what it had going on.

This was the first book by this author I have had a chance to read and I am going to check out what book two has going on before I decide if I want to pursue reading this series. So far it is an enjoyable read.

Review: I love an author who is not afraid to take out characters. Sometimes that is called for in a story. The author does a wonderful job in this story as the fate of everyone rests in their hands. The story was wonderful. Edge of your seat battles and twists and turns that took me by surprise. The betrayal, I never saw coming so was pleasantly blindsided.

It was a perfect blend of chaos, harmony, betrayal and suspense all woven into one exciting book.

The overall feel is one of completeness. I loved everything about the descriptions and backgrounds as the story progressed. The series has no shortage of information given as to why certain things happened and why.

Flynn and Bennet have come so far together in this series. I loved their characters and trials they have been through to get to this exciting conclusion. I am sad to see this end but that is just the way it is with a good series.

Great read.

Review: I love a good shape shifter MM romance, in fact it has to rate as my favourite type of romance and Tempeste O’Riley’s Whisker of a Chance definitely rates highly among them.

Lynx and Alpha’s heir, Keith Skyler, has managed to move himself and his sister and nephew away from their tribe (chain) but most importantly, he has removed them away from his manipulative and evil father, the tribe’s Alpha. This new life has naturally set Keith off on an adventure he didn’t know could ever be possible for him – a gay shifter who was born to be an Alpha.  Keith was fairly certain, he would never have a true mate because he was gay.

Then there is Jason Grant. He was instantly infatuated by his new neighbour and after giving Keith a welcome to the neighbourhood casserole, he too is flung into an adventure and a world completely unknown to him.

I can’t really think anything that makes this book stand out as an OMG when it comes to shape shifter and soul mates/mates (or whatever jargon the author chooses to use), even when it becomes very apparent that there is more to Keith’s lynx than being an Alpha. However, I really did love this. The characters – both MCs and minor characters – were all wonderful. They all had their own complexities, which were thoroughly explored with our MCs and partially explored with the minor characters.

I especially love Jason’s BFF Sasha (Russian guy), Keith’s lynx friends including Vance as well as the wolves that Keith also meets through his work as a vet. In fact, I would have loved to have known more from the latter two groups.

The characters were complex, enjoyable and relatable – the sex was hot – the attraction and tension between Keith and Jason was palpable – and overall it was a lot of fun.

Cold Like Snow

When René moves into his new home, he didn’t expect it to come with roommates. Two handsome roommates, to be precise. Too bad they’re ghosts.

The fact that they’re dead doesn’t stop them from running their fingers through René’s hair or tackling him onto the bed. It’s not long before things escalate and René finds himself with two ghost lovers that treat him better than any living partner ever has.

However, they can’t eat, can’t go far from the house where they died, and their fingers feel like icicles against René’s skin. The longer René is with them, the more he can sense them, but nothing can reduce the chill of their bodies against his. Still, it might be worth the hypothermia.

Torn and Frayed

(The Gabriel Church Tales 02)
by

Rodd Clark

Conscience isn’t something all people are born with…

Gabriel Church is a portrait in contrast. It would be easy to get lost in his pale-blue eyes, ache with the need to feel the strength of his masculine frame. He appears to be nothing but animal and instinct. The only people who know the full depth of that truth are dead, murdered, or two thousand miles away.

Gabe is a serial killer, and for the first time in his life, he has more on his mind than his own survival. This time he is running from Seattle to protect the only person he thinks innocent in his laundry list of crime and murder: Christian Maxwell, his biographer and unexpected lover.

Drawn to a place he never thought to return, Gabe finds new and different realities. Realities that insist he let go of his tragic past, those incredible perceptions of God, and his own divinity. He must open his eyes to what the love of a good man can do to heal a broken soul.
