Dinner at Home

by

Rick R. Reed

It only takes a few days for Ollie D’Angelo to lose his boyfriend, his job, and his home. Instead of mourning what he doesn’t have, Ollie celebrates what he does: the freedom to pursue his real passion—cooking. He begins Dinner at Home, a home-catering business, and it takes off.

Late one night, Ollie catches Hank Mellinger, a streetwise hood down on his luck, about to rob his car. Ollie soon discovers that appearances aren’t necessarily what they seem. Hank isn’t a criminal caught red-handed, but a hungry young man trying to make a life for himself and the four-year-old niece he’s trying desperately to take care of.

Instead of calling the cops, Ollie offers Hank a job and a way to pull himself up by his bootstraps. Together, they discover they can really cook… and that their shared passion for food just might lead to a passion for each other.

Blurb: When a man is consumed by hatred, is there anything left to love?

After a tough day of counseling sessions, Anglican priest Mark Webber is looking forward to a relaxing dinner at a local restaurant. When he sees who’s bellied up to the bar, though, he reaches for his cell phone to call the police.
It’s Lucas Cain, the man who killed Mark’s brother three years ago. Apparently, he’s out of jail and hanging out with his old crowd, which has to be a breach of parole, right?

Pulled over upon leaving the bar, Lucas blows a clean breathalyzer and hopes this isn’t a harbinger of things to come. He’s ready to build a sober, peaceful life. His friends aren’t ready to let him move on, though, and he ends up taking refuge in an Anglican halfway house.

Thrown together, Mark and Lucas find common ground in the struggle to help a young gay man come to terms with his sexuality—and the fight against homophobic townsfolk. As attraction grows, the past is the last stumbling block between them and a future filled with hope.

Review: Mark of Cain, by Kate Sherwood, is an incredible story about overcoming fear, loss, bad mistakes, and pain. I have many titles by this author, in my own library, and I have yet to read one that did not touch me on some level. She has an incredible perception with expressing, thru her characters, emotions that feel visible to you, the reader, instead of just words on a page. She has taken two characters, who are both damaged souls, in one way or another, are from completely different backgrounds, and brought them together and they clicked. They were able to find comfort in each other, whereas before, they were just stumbling along.

Thru some bad mistakes, drinking, and mean tempers, Lucas Cain, after 3 years, is being released from prison. He killed a man, accidentally, but he considers himself a murderer, along with the rest of the towns’ people. He wants to do right for himself and for others, but his old friends are having a hard time understanding the new Lucas. They want to continue being the rough and rowdy boys and feel Lucas should fall back in line. Lucas, however, is not okay with this plan. How will his homeboys feel when he separates from the pack? How will Sean, his once best friend, feel when Lucas no longer wants to deny his sexuality? Lucas ends up staying at a halfway house where he will remain, as long as, he doesn’t violate his parole. He soon discovers he may have one or more persons working against him.

Mark Webber, priest and confidante, loves working with the children/teenagers in the community. He wants to be a safe place they can come to if they are questioning their sexuality. He finds comfort in the church, his routine prayers, and he feels confidant he has the support of the parishioners and the church. He also likes to be a helping hand at the halfway house, and be support, if needed. He has the support of his family, as long as, he doesn’t mention he is gay. Up until now, that wasn’t a hardship. He doesn’t understand why, the one man he should hate, the man who killed his brother, is also the man he is falling for. Everything around him seems to be coming apart at the seams. His relationship with Lucas, his father is sick and dying, and the one place he felt comfort – his church, has put him on probation. How will Mark’s mother react when she discovers who her son is falling in love with?

The church wants him to walk away from Lucas. Will the church support him, if that is not a consideration? With so many things working against them, will they ever be free to love each other, as they want? Mark doesn’t do sex, just to do sex. He wants a committed relationship. However, time is not on their side. Thankfully, Lucas wants the same thing, and having sex with Mark, is one thing that is very right. In the privacy of his home, he and Lucas, no longer hold back from expressing their feelings. They love each other with everything they have. While the sex is not that explicit, you get the feeling it is everything they need. It’s been a long time since either one had any sexual romps. So, together, they discover what the other likes and how to satisfy each other.

This was a fairly long story, so there are many twists and turns. The author does an incredible job with the progression of the storyline. There are many amazing side characters that enrich the story, greatly. Many times, I would catch myself laughing, aloud, at the banter and the humour these wonderful characters possessed. You, definitely, can see the growth and the maturity many of the characters go through. You will also have moments of holding your breath, afraid of what is getting ready to take place. I love how the author has the MC’s working together to overcome their problems, rather than splitting them up, only to make up, at the last few pages. There will be sad moments, but at its core, it is a love story. A love between, Lucas and Mark, which will not be broken, by anyone. I would recommend this to anyone who loves a feel good story, little angst, a lot of laughter, and a HEA. I may have my fingers crossed for another story with a very troubled soul, a man who is definitely broken in spirit and heart. He was once Lucas’ best friend, now he doesn’t want to be friends with anyone. I hope we have not seen the last of these amazing characters. Thank you Kate Sherwood, for another incredible read.

Blurb: I am what I am in the form that I am.

Pat, a repressed púcca, is enjoying his career as a top jockey. He rides for his father, a sorcerer and notable breeder and trainer of top thoroughbreds. He, like his father, seeks glory on the track. The Triple Crown hasn’t been won since 1978, and they have a horse who might be the one to do it. But first, V-Tach must prove himself worthy by winning the Wood Memorial, and someone or something is out to stop them.

Pat hates magic and wants nothing to do with it, seeing it as nothing more than a cheat. But the power of magic can’t be denied forever, neither his own magic nor that of V-Tach. When Pat discovers that V-Tach is a Shapeshifter capable of changing into a human man, he’s outraged. Will the magic bring the end of their racing dreams?

Review: This is book one in this series and they should be read in order. I must admit that it was not my favorite of the paranormal world, but it was still a good read. The paranormal world’s give you such a mixture of people who you will fall in love with or smack them.

V-Tach is a glorious racing horse but he is also a man. It was news to him when he found out. For as long as he remembered he had love his rider Pat. However Pat didn’t know he had two forms until late one night. Pat had always known about magic, even knew his father was magical. What he had not known was that his mother was a púcca. This in turn made Pat a púcca. He comes off as an arrogant jerk in part of this story. When V-Tach tells him of his love for him, he denies it and is quite rude the way he did it. Telling him that he is just a horse, a great horse but a horse all the same. He was not human in Pats eyes. It takes a short period of time, but he realizes that he loves V-Tach, also. Although while in human form they called him Viktor.

It takes a short time but they realize that they both have so much in common and their feelings are coming out in full force. You can tell that once Pat gets over his attitude that they will be a wonderful couple. Their sex life is sweet and tender, full of passion and fire. I love how his father helps him with the realization that when V-Tach is in horse form that there is no magic helping him win the race and that when he is in human form he is truly a human man. That to love someone with all their heart is the only way to love.

I liked the story but it was definitely missing something in the interpretation. It did catch my attention from the moment I opened the book and did keep it all the way to the end. However, I wished that there were more to the story. A tad bit of danger to V-Tach and then all of a sudden he is captured and turning states evidence is just too fast for me. I wished that it came just a bit slower to reach the ending. If you love the paranormal worlds, sexy men, touching stories then this is a book you will like to read.

Review: The Forever Vampire saga continues and they need to be read in order. This story seems a bit dark to me. Hate, bigotry, disillusion seem to be throughout the book but you also can see compassion, loyalty and love. It was a bit hard for me to follow though. I don’t know if it was all the jumping around at first that you see or that something is missing.

There is a war going on between the Matarian soldiers, vampires, and werewolves. When many children are killed at a church camp, many are angered by it. Everyone wants blood and death. The problem with it is they were killed by vampires who only went in to get their captured men back. Issa was not sure who to follow or who to believe any more. He had a chance to talk to two of the vampires that were being held hostage and realized that they were just the same as everyone else. The Matarian soldiers killed them shortly after. Issa’s heart was being torn in too many pieces. He was to be a soldier but just couldn’t stomach some of the things that were happening. He had found out that his missing brother Shadi was indeed alive and turned. He had met and mated a vampire.

Then Robbie and Colt have escaped from the Matarian soldiers. They love each other with all their hearts, but with one being vampire and the other human it was not allowed. Many were questioning all of that as well but Issa just doesn’t know where to turn. Normally he would turn to Dylan. However, when he finds out that he didn’t graduate he thinks that he will never see Dylan again. Then his father turns on him for being gay. He thinks the only way is to leave like his brother.

Dylan is Issa’s mate. He is to go on his first vampire hunt and when you graduate, you are allowed to choose the partner you want. He wants to work with Issa, the only problem with that is his brother against it. He thinks that Issa will get Dylan killed. Many questions that I have were not answered in this story.

In this story, you will get all the characters from the other book into this one. So to be able to keep up you will need to read book one. It is a good story but to difficult for me to get into. It came off as a dark fantasy story. I have not really understood them but this one was a bit better. I did understand Issa though. He wanted to find his brother and the young boy that was missing. In his heart, that was what was right. I can understand the reactions some have towards others, but it seems to me that had they taken the time to understand them that they might have a different reaction. Issa saw that with the two vampires that were killed.

Review: A refreshing read! This love story has a great plot, action, suspense, plenty of drama and horses. Who could turn that down? The author gives some very interesting insight into the world of American Thoroughbred racing, those who own, those who train, and the excitement, dedication and dark side to racing.

You can really understand Evan’s dedication to his job, the training and care of these magnificent beasts. He seems stand-off-ish, and obviously prefers horses to people, until Wes trots into his life and his barn one fine race day.

Wes has an honest interest in racehorses, but it’s a convenient excuse to pursue his sexual interest in Evan, but taking his time to research and dedicate himself to both is what Wes has in mind. Trouble is Wes has secrets to hide, well, one big secret. His sexuality is hidden by Julia, another costar, actress, and beard. She knows his secret but has been pushing him out of the closet for his best interests and hers.

But it turns out Evan has secrets too. His past career in Hollywood is riddled with dark secrets, abuse, advantage, and it left him hollow and bitter. Thankfully, he found refuge in horses, training, and the privacy of his farm. He was done with Hollywood, and didn’t want to let Wes into his bed let alone his heart.

We see both men fighting their loyalties, their commitments, their pasts and their relationships with friends and lovers to give their, Wes and Evan’s, relationship a try. Wes holds off on intimacy, to give Evan time to end an abusive relationship, and Evan understands of Wes’ fears of bringing their relationship out into the open, living outside his closet.

Throughout the story plenty of suspense develops, including a plot involving Evans’ horses, his training career and trouble his ex has gotten himself into. Tragedy strikes and it seems to spell and end to both the men’s hope for their relationship and both of their careers. Can both be salvaged? What is truly behind Gray’s machinations?

This is a great read! I found details about training and racing horses very interesting and striking me as very truthful. I had horses since childhood and I’ve heard and seen many racing horror stories. It was pleasant to see the author shine a positive light on Evan and his training practices.

A highly recommended read!

Review: LeeAnn
Blurb: On September 1, 2011, TJ Klune wrote, “…it’s not about the ending, it’s about the journey…” in a review of Eric Arvin’s Woke Up in a Strange Place. With those words, two men began a journey of love and invited us to ride along. TJ and Eric have shared so much with us: their wonderful books, their smiles, their humor, their lives, and their inspiring devotion to each other. In December of 2013, their journey took a detour when Eric was taken to the emergency room. He survived the surgery to remove a cavernous Hemangioma from his brain stem, but the challenges TJ and Eric face are far from over.

The authors in this anthology donated their talent as a way to support Eric’s continued recovery, to help bring strength to TJ, and to show both of them, just how much love surrounds them. Grand Adventures is a diverse range of stories about the journey of love. We’re going on some grand adventures for a great cause. Thank you for joining us.

One hundred percent of the income from this volume goes directly to TJ and Eric.

Review: As you may know, there are 28 shorts in this anthology. Written by some authors who have met Tj and Eric and others who have not yet met them. The Foreword by S.A. McAuley is a true testament to what great friends Tj and Eric have as well as the Prologue by Brandon Witt. These two parts prepare you for the Grand Adventure you are about to go on.

The authors came together to make this anthology out of love , respect and awe for two brave men who have captured so many hearts by letting us see their love grow through videos and posts. To see them make their way through one of the toughest things possible and still come out smiling in the end. Their love has been truly inspirational and fun to watch grow. The fact that they let us all watch and be a part of their journey together is why we all love them and why this book was put together. To help them was the only thing these wonderful people could do. It was a must, in their minds and they pulled it off brilliantly.

All of the shorts in this book are amazing. The HEA that almost all of these stories have give you just that much more hope that we too, can find what Eric and Tj have with each other.

As you also may know, all the money that is made from the selling of this anthology, the t-shirts and posters sold, will go directly to Tj and Eric to help them with medical costs and renovations needed to Eric and Tj’s new home when he finally gets to go home to Tj and Otter.
So please, do yourself a huge favour and get this book, not only for where the money goes but to have a wonderful experience meeting all of these authors and reading their amazing short stories. They are very gifted people who deserve the recognition for their work and unbelievable generosity!

I will definitely be rereading this book again because I so enjoyed every single story in here. I know you will as well.

Review: I must admit I haven’t found a lot of vampire books that I’ve actually enjoyed reading. This book however I loved.

It was a fantastic story of Dakota and Nimo meeting when Nimo’s son is hurt at school and has to be taken to the hospital where Dakota works. There is instant attraction for both men. However, when Nimo is told Dakota’s a vampire, Nimo gets scared. I enjoyed reading what all happens between the MC’s and Dakota’s brothers. So much tension, drama, and mystery in this wonderfully written book.

I could hardly put the book down, as I just had to know what happened page after page until the end. I honestly can’t wait to see what happens in the next book. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

Review: This is book four in this series and they should be read in order. Not only will it help you understand what is going on but also it will give you an insight into each character. You will fall in love with each person in these amazing books. Lyssa has a wonderful gift that I hope she will always keep on writing.

I love Kendrick and Roger. They have both been hurt maybe not physically but mentally and emotionally.

Roger has a way with children and in his entire life. He has always wanted children in his life. However the men that he had dated never wanted children or just wasn’t what he wanted as a life partner. He had asked his best friend and she had agreed till one day she shows up and tells him that she has met a wonderful man and was already pregnant. He felt so much sorrow in his heart that he was losing again. Thinking about adoption might be his only way. That is until he met Kendrick. However, after one fantastic night with him, he finds out that children are not in Kendrick’s future. He didn’t ask the normal questions but felt like giving up.

You can tell that communication is definitely not in their lives at this point. Kendrick was a Prince from Sanzel. And all men on Sanzel had the ability to become pregnant. However when he was younger his organ’s that could make it where he would be able to have children were damaged. He always knew that he would not be able to have them. That is until two Legari injured him to the point of death. Roger saved him and brought him back. He healed him in more ways than one. He had given him the gift to have a child.

It says that it will take more than magic to fix their problems though but a miracle. However, things had gone wrong and it took them both to fix it all. I loved this series and cannot wait to get my hands on the next book. It caught my attention from the start and kept it all the way to the end. I would recommend reading this if you love the paranormal worlds, hot and sexy men, slight arguments, fierce passions, dangers, and excitement.

Blurb: State trooper Brandt’s new assignment to infiltrate a sex-cam operation puts him in a very uncomfortable position, especially since he’ll have to perform naked on camera for his audition. Fortunately, his partner and best friend, Donnelly, has his back—whether that means helping Brandt shop gay boutiques for sexy underwear or offering Jäger and encouragement while he researches porn.

Despite his mortification, Brandt gives the audition his best “shot”—and becomes an overnight sensation. But to meet the man behind the operation, he’ll have to give a repeat performance, this time live on webcam opposite the highest bidder. Donnelly makes sure to win that auction for his partner’s sake, but their plan has a flaw: faking it is not an option.

In the aftermath, Brandt is a humiliated mess trying desperately to come to terms with what he’s had to do for the job and his own mixed feelings. But Donnelly has been on a journey of discovery of his own. Suddenly everything the two men thought they knew about themselves and each other gets turned inside out. Meanwhile, they still have a case to solve… but it may not be the case they thought it was

Review: This is one book that will make you laugh your ass off. I understand going undercover to get your case solved, however for straight police officers going undercover, as a gay porn star is a mighty hard one. However sometimes you find out some things about yourself that will surprise you. This was one of the first books that I had read by Xavier. He has a way with words. I am always glad to find a mystery story with more humor in it then a serious attitude.

Brandt was told by his commanding officer that they wanted to shut down a sex-cam operation. However being straight made the whole discussion harder to figure out. His partner Donnelly was going to help him with all of it. He takes him shopping in the gay shopping district. Where they meet a couple of amazing guys who help them dress to get them where they need to go. The only problem is he has to audition on cam, which might not be so hard, but for the fact that there is another guy watching. Faking it is not an option.

Then he is told that he is doing his first actual show. At first, it is an auction where he is doing a one on one show with the winner of the bid. They made plans to play chess since no one would be watching. Surprise, surprise, they had one of the guys who was going to be taping it. So they couldn’t fake that either. Donnelly was to be the winner of the auction or at least that is the plan. Now he wins all right but how does Brandt get him to understand that someone is watching and that this show needs to be on the level.

What surprise’s Brandt is Donnelly is all for helping. Even encouraging him to get it on. It would seem there is a bit more than attraction going on with these two. Now all they have to do is get it out of the open. They have made many new friends on this case and discovered something new to figure out. Now they just needed to decide if wanting each other was going to be enough.

I loved this book. Although I had got this book as an audible book, I was quite happy sitting down on the couch reading it. I am amazed with the way this story is told. It has its serious parts to it, but it has more humor than most mysteries have. I was quite pleased by it. I would love to get my hands on the next book in this series. It has already shown promise.

I would recommend reading this to anyone who loves police officers, uniforms, funny situations, investigations, and lots of excitement. This book gives you all that and a lot more. I can guarantee that you won’t be let down.

Blurb: For refusing the crown and renouncing his title, Prince Lier was eternally banished from the planet of Arden. After finding asylum in a Deep Space colony, he took a position in a bordello as the Master of Ceremonies. During Lier’s exile, Emperor Sardius I conquered Arden and slaughtered Lier’s people. From the destruction arose a new species dependent on blood. Seizing the opportunity, Sardius praises vampirism and blueprints mass blood manufacturing with Lier’s blood as the key. Lier is not only the last of his kind, but his blood is strangely addictive.

On a mission to capture Lier, Commander Raze, son of Sardius, can’t help but try it for himself. When he does, he experiences strange flashbacks of himself with Lier. Tense relations between captor and captive blur the line between past and present.

During the perilous journey to Arden, forces opposed to Sardius attempt to rescue their lost prince. Raze’s mission changes from retrieval to survival. Soon it becomes clear that, although neither man recognizes what the other has become, this meeting is not their first. And by no means will it be their last.

Review: Lier was banished from his home world, Arden, after he refused the crown; now he is the Master of Ceremonies at a bordello on AkoII, a Deep space colony, surviving the best he can. A routine night turns into a nightmare though when a group of enforcers from the Atrosian Empire visit and their Commander sets his sights on Lier. Raze has one mission: capture Lier and take him to the Church on Aboa, his father Emperor Sardius I – who conquered Arden – needs Lier to complete his plan but Raze faces opposition from those who oppose Sardius and his blood-drinking ways. Lier and Raze have a deeper connection though and when Raze starts having flashbacks to a past he can’t remember his treatment of Lier becomes harsh. Can Lier break through Raze’s consciousness to reach Pax or will Sardius succeed in his quest for more power?

Hmmm, well I have to say that this was a very surprising interesting story that has left me still going over everything in my head. Lier is an Ankar, Pax is a Lionne, two races that share Arden equally with a shared monarchy but can never be together. Lier rejects his crown and is banished and then Arden is conquered and his entire race is wiped out… fast forward 24 years and now the conqueror wants Lier for his blood and sends Raze to bring him in. And then the real fun begins, as Raze is a cold man whose sole focus is getting Lier to Aboa but after he tastes Lier’s blood things begin to get weird. We see many flashbacks from Lier and Pax’s past and we see their relationship playing out before us in the flashbacks so you know the depths of their friendship and their romance.

Being honest, it’s hard to describe what is really happening in this story other than just the basics because there is a lot of stuff that seems to be going on but is never quite clear. So the basics are Sardius wants to conquer everywhere and after making a discovery on Arden he wants Lier so he sends off his ‘son’ Raze to capture Lier, we discover that Raze isn’t really who he thinks he is and we discover Lier can take a hell of a lot of abuse. There are other characters who are involved, but their parts aren’t exactly clear. Seth, Clay, and Gene are all characters we meet who become something more in the story. But trying to follow just how they fit in was beginning to give me a headache. So I just figured that we were seeing the story from their eyes so they must be important.

The storyline is a good one; it is just not clear as to what the storyline is trying to say or where it is going; hopefully the next story in the saga will make it clearer. There are many escapes and re-captures and a mysterious infection that adds some excitement, Lier and Raze’s relationship is very complex and isn’t one I can really describe other than to say it isn’t very pretty and there is abuse and anger that fuels it, all I can say is that most of it appears off page. The vampire side is very intriguing, they are definitely not the type of vampires that we all know, and it does add a very interesting aspect to the story. There is some good news for the two of them but it comes near the very end and we are left to wonder what comes next and what everyone’s next steps will be.

I recommend this to those who love science fiction mixed with dark fantasy and a story, which features abuse, but not on page, who loves an interesting storyline that has more to come and just a touch of happiness for our poor MC’s but with an ending that is a bit frustrating.

Enemy territory is a dangerous place to fall in love.

After the deaths of three undercover cops investigating a drug ring in a seedy strip club in Seattle, Detective Mahir Hussain has been sent to finish the job. He joins the club’s security team in the hopes of finding enough evidence to bust the operation before the men in charge find a reason to put him in a shallow grave.

To protect the strippers, only gay men can work the club. Ridley, the cold and intimidating head of security, knows exactly how to test potential new hires—including Mahir. From the minute they meet, Mahir and Ridley engage in a dangerous dance of sex and mind games. Mahir needs to find his evidence before Ridley figures out he’s a cop—and before they both grow too close to betray one another.

As the game goes on, Mahir burrows deeper into the operation, where he learns there’s much more happening than meets the eye . . . and why every cop who made it this far has been silenced with a bullet.

Review: This is a good collection of short sips. I really liked this collection and the title is fitting. The stories are written in a befitting style for the subject. Rough stock rodeo riders. Each story is very short. Very concise and pretty erotic.

I liked that the characters were not pretty boy cowboys. I loved Sam’s description of Beau. He has short legs, a barrel chest, crooked teeth and a hot butt (he didn’t say but in the book.) As a matter of fact the language is pretty rough too, but fitting for the characters. I liked that Beau is Cajun as were some of the other characters and his slang was used a lot. The nicknames Sam and Beau used made me chuckle… I also liked that some of the stories were about rodeo clowns and not just the riders.

I would have liked a bit more information though as to who all these men were and how they were connected. In the first story, several names were mentioned then the other stories featured some of these men.

I think this is a good book if you’re looking for something short to read. Each story can be read in a few minutes. I like having stories like this around for times I need something quick for the treadmill, filling time between appointments etc.

If you are looking for a book with short stories, hot cowboys, sexy Cajuns, rodeo clowns, bull riders, and you like rough language, and hot mansex this is for you!

Review: I can tell you that this story just about tore me up. I have never cried throughout a whole story. It was so tender and loving. It was the best told story, I have ever come across in a long while. It is a romance story but it goes so much deeper than that. At first, I wasn’t too sure what to say about this story, but I can tell you that it will have you in tears.

Philip had met Joey when they were in the eighth grade. They slowly become boyfriends. They were each other’s first. However when they graduated Joey wanted to continue school and wanted Philip to go but Philip let him know that he was joining the army. He wanted to grow up and get things right in his head. However, after twelve years in the military he had realized that he had lost all contact with his first love. He found out that he was late. Joey had died the past Christmas Eve of AIDS. It was tearing Philip up when he had found out that Joey’s parents let him die alone. They thought that he had deserved what he had gotten. If only he had kept in contact with him, things might have been different. That is what kept going on throughout his mind. He decided to go Legacy House where Joey had spent his last times till he passed away. He met the owners and decided to help them along. He met the older brother of one of the patients there. He had gone there to come to terms with what had happened, but what he found was his beginning.

Carlos’ little brother Miguel was a patient at Legacy House. Miguel’s family kicked him out when he was a teenager only Carlos kept in contact. Carlos wanted to be with his brother to the end. Medicine seemed to do the opposite of what it was meant to so he knew that Miguel’s time was short. He felt the pain that his brother was going through. He would do anything to help Miguel. He had met another man who had come to see where his best friend and first boyfriends had spent his last days. He had taken the chance after Miguel kept telling him to go after Philip and show him how love is supposed to be. One look was all it took for these two men. The love they have for the family that they had lost was pulling them together and with Miguel’s help, they were starting to love one another.

This story shows you what it is like to have HIV and AIDS. What happens too many that should never have happened. Miguel and Joey were both gay and they had sex without protection. They had caught HIV and they were kicked to the curb by their family members. Joey had died in December and when he had, the room had been given to Miguel. Philip had not known Joey had been sick let alone had passed on until he had asked a friend where he was. He was hurting with guilt and pain. Going to Legacy House, he just wanted to know about Joey’s last days. He met Carlos in the parking lot, but only got to talked to him when he met Miguel. He learned that Miguel had Joey’s old room. Carlos was hurting from the idea of loosing Miguel. Miguel didn’t want Carlos alone when he died. You can just feel the love so strong between everyone.

You can feel the love that is starting between Carlos and Philip. They come together to help Miguel in his last days and to get closure for Philip and find themselves. This story will show you what does happen all around you. I could never imagine throwing anyone out of the house for being gay, let alone letting them go through pain and illness by themselves. I was a little upset in the beginning that Philip had loved Joey but chose to join the military then quit talking to him after joining. I hated that Joey had went through what had to feel like abandonment. Then to die with no family around. I hated that part of this story, but it does happen to many times to so many.

I would recommend reading this story. It will change the way you think about so many things. T. A. Chase has a wonderful gift and I cannot wait to check out the rest of this wonderful author’s books.

Review: Grady is at a function dressed as a clown. He likes children and hopes to have some someday, but first he has to find the perfect man. He is tired of hook-ups and has recently come out.

Paul is at the function with his daughter Madeleine. He has recently relocated from Hollywood to there and opened an Italian restaurant. He has had many secret lovers, even some very wealthy ones and stars, but he longs to have a life partner to settle down and be a family. His wife and daughter support him and want him to be happy.

This story had a great idea going. I just felt it was very rushed. I would’ve loved more back-story on Grady and more about him being a fireman, as the title alluded to. The only thing about his job was the thing they were hosting the day he met Paul. I also don’t mind Insta love but I felt it was too instant. It went from meeting to talk of marriage in what seemed like just days to me.

Having said that, I still absolutely loved the story. The characters were awesome. I love chefs and firemen. I loved that Paul wanted someone he could bring home to daughter, I adored Madeleine and I liked that his ex-supported him and let him be a part of his daughter’s raising.

If you like hot firemen, sexy chefs, cute kids, fast-paced stories, instalove and some very hot man-sex this is for you!
