While each is thinking the other is straight, neither acts on the attraction until a loudmouth bigot confronts them.

Review:  I love my broody broken men; that’s my reader’s kink and absolutely the reason I liked this story from the start. I’m not crazy about insta-love, but insta-lust? Bring it on! Scott and Derek were hot for each other from first glance, and that had me all kinds of hot for them. Although

I shook my head at their astonishing lack of gaydar, once that issue was resolved the two were sizzling. That heated sexual tension that overrides everything else in life was ever present, and it put me in a state of anticipation (along with them, of course) almost immediately.

This is not what one would call an easy read. There is angst, self-doubt and self-recrimination deep within both Scott and Derek that pervades the whole story. There is also a glimmer of hope that comes from each of them finding their outlet in creativity, and ultimately each other.

The depths of their inner turmoil allowed for empathy. I wanted them to face their demons, to find absolution and solace together. It also paved the bumpy road to their HEA. I was so glad for that HEA, though. And the sex. Of course the sex. Did I mention it was hot??

At book’s end, I was struck with the thought that I would have loved more of Derek and Scott. A bit of a longer story with some more detail would have definitely amped things up. That being said, for a short read the emotion, depth of character and story was impressive.

If you are like me, and broody, broken, sexy men are your thing, grab this one up and introduce yourself to Scott and Derek. I hope you like them as much as I do!

Review: Overall, this is an incredibly cute story, though that is usually the case when there is a little kid involved in the story. This book is specifically all about the romance and healing hearts. This is the first book I’ve read by Luna Jensen, and from looking at Goodreads that would because this is her first published work.

Dean and Mason grew up together and are really high school sweethearts. However, Mason, coming from a not very accepting and unbending family (among other issues), had a rather traumatic time when he was forced to leave his hometown Sweet Valley (some of us may be thinking Sweet Valley High, but no).

The problem is life really hasn’t dealt him a good hand, even for the ten years he was away. There were people who were borderline abusive to him as well as the said fires from the blurb. Dean on the other hand stayed in Sweet Valley, though he was heartbroken when Mason left suddenly. Dean has been busy building up the family farm/business once more and recently has a father overnight to his four-year-old son, Wyatt.

Wyatt, as I said, is incredibly adorable. The poor kid has his own issues – so Dean not only has to smooth the way for Mason once they meet up again, he has already been doing the same for his son. But I have to be honest, the circumstances around Wyatt are clichéd – Dean who normally practiced safe sex forgot just the once, then he didn’t know about his son until Wyatt’s mother was killed in a car accident. However, I think we can let that slide since it’s only back-story and not a big deal is really made about it.

I found it interesting and yet very odd that these character’s don’t have a courtship as such. Instead, they have some slowly simmering tension before they just come together. It’s like their lives effortlessly mesh, including Wyatt. Mason’s psychological problems relating to fire I don’t was fully dealt with but it was nice to see that he had support and family in Dean and Wyatt. I also think that parts of this plot line were glossed over.

Really, though, this is a nice lighthearted romance and if you don’t over think the plot, you’ll enjoy it on some level. The characters are really relatable and for the most part, there aren’t any villains, (any real villains are glossed over and again these relate to Mason). There isn’t much in the way of sex, although there is some tension, but this for the most part is because Wyatt is heavily involved in the story. More or less, this is a story about family.

Review: I’m going to say first up: the blurb is misleading for the reason that the blurb only talks about go-go boy Liam and his mysterious, sexy hunk of client, Ryan. But, and this is a big but, there are also two other stories going on here, that of Liam’s fellow go-go boys Lance and Ken. Liam and Ken have been doing it a while but Lance is a newbie.

All three are happy and enthusiastic about their job as go-go boys at Club 21. This is a good book but on thinking, there isn’t a lot in the way of plot. The plot point of Liam and Ryan only forms about a third of the book. The thing is I liked this plot and really wanted to know more. The rest talks about the ins and outs of these guys jobs and has POV from Liam, Ken and Lance. To be perfectly frank, I felt as though I needed more time and details on Liam and Ryan and less time (still conveying the same info) on Lance and Ken.

I feel reluctant saying much else because to me not much really happens, which leaves me oddly disappointed. Then there is the ending. It’s a cliffhanger ending… frustrating but will probably keep me reading. This is a very sexy, hot of what should prove interesting.

Blurb: On the cusp of his twenty-fifth birthday, Bo Sanford grows frustrated with his directionless life. Slaving away at his father’s construction company all week and partying every weekend leaves him little time for introspection, but he knows it’s time for a change. When his best friend, Mac, drags him to a college party, Bo catches sight of a girl. But not just any girl—the girl of his dreams: a delicate blonde-haired beauty with a pink scarf and a smile that promises warmth and humor. There’s just one problem: she isn’t a girl.

Even after Bo discovers the truth, he keeps seeing Erick, and the choice to follow his heart despite the obstacles has profound repercussions on not only his sense of self but his relationship with his family and even his job. Being with Erick makes him all the more determined to be his own man and claw his way out from under his father’s thumb.

Review: It’s been almost two years since I initially read Choices and Changes, as it was not only a favorite read but also my first gay for you type story, I was anxious to dive into the audio version and visit with Bo and Erick again.

Jonathan Waters did an amazing job of bringing Belanger’s words to life, of giving Bo and Erick a distinct voice in his retelling. These two young men are portrayed so realistic, relatable, flawed, and approachable that you can’t help but fall in love with them, and root for them to find their own little piece of happiness.

Something that stood out more so in the audio version for me than it did in the print was the overbearing and abusive personality of Bo’s dad. While this isn’t the type of story where there is a villain per say, this asshat still managed to achieve villain status in my mind while I was listening to this story.

I thought I was going to have to take a chill pill, literally, when he started in on Bo in the office the first time Bo tried to quit. And then to find out the truth behind what happened with Bo’s mom, I seriously wanted to strangle the SOB. And Waters truly found this gravely, mean and hateful tone for the father that conveyed just how ugly a character he really was. Great job sir!

Colorful narration brought to life this richly written story about a strong young man who is struggling to figure out who he is and refuses to be labeled. If you have the opportunity, I suggest both reading and listening to this story, as each version is just as good as the other, and both are just a treat!

 Lights, Camera, Cupid!

(A Bluewater Bay Valentine’s Day Anthology)
by

L.A. Witt, Z.A. Maxfield, Anne Tenino, S.E. Jakes, Amy Lane

Cupid is visiting Bluewater Bay, and he’s leaving chaos in his wake.

Nothing’s been the same in this sleepy little logging town since Hollywood came to shoot the hit TV show Wolf’s Landing—especially Valentine’s Day.

In L.A. Witt’s Just Another Day, beloved actors Levi Pritchard and Carter Samuels have an announcement for their fans, while in Z.A. Maxfield’s I’ll Be There, actor Spencer Kepler and his boyfriend Nash Holly brave a blizzard and a fan convention to spend their first February the 14th together.

Of course, it’s not just TV stars celebrating the day. In Anne Tenino’s Helping Hand, an aspiring artist eager to escape Bluewater Bay decides he just might have a reason to stay: lust-inspiring logger Gabriel Savage. In S.E. Jakes’s No Easy Way, a local teacher reconnects with an old lover working security on the film set. And in Amy Lane’s Nascha, a Bluewater Bay elder recalls how his own unconventional family used to celebrate the holiday.

Real life may be nothing like TV, but when Cupid comes to town, there’s plenty of romance and drama to go around.

Review: Each book in Demon Warrior collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order. There is nothing better than a good paranormal romance with two gorgeous men involved. I love the way Lynn can put together a book that not only fascinates you but draws you in. I had a blast reading this and look forward to reading more by Lynn.

There is something about the way that Lynn tells a story that will not only draw you in and keep your attention the whole time, but it will more than likely have you laughing your ass off. The characters are beautifully written with big hearts, however if you cross them, they have no problem putting you down. They will protect their mates with their entire lives. I had a blast reading this story. This story is perfect for when you are trying to take a break.

Kendrick has known about the paranormal world now for some time. He has been friends with them and is attracted to Einarr for some time. He has even been spending time with him as friends, even though he wants it as more. When danger comes for Omar they need the demon’s to get him back. More to the fact that they need Einarr’s help.

Einarr is a demon warrior, but at one time worked for the man who took Kendrick’s nephew. He didn’t know love or understand it, but he wanted Kendrick. Kendrick was his mate, although he didn’t know it like the shifters and vampires do. He just wanted to protect his mate from the violent side of his life. However when his past shows up, he will protect his mate with everything in him.

Things heat up for these two and life as they know it is about to change.

I absolutely love this book almost as much as I have loved the other’s in this series. I can’t wait to read the next story. When Lynn puts out a book, I am usually there to eat them up. They do have a bit of a serious tone to them but there is a lot of humor in them that I love. It caught my attention from the moment I started reading and kept it all the way to the end. It also gave me everything I could want in a book.

I would definitely recommend reading this book. Trust me it will keep you laughing, crying, loving, and having fun.

Review: Susan Laine is another author that I have found to be a hit. I chose this book because the title intrigued me. Most times wolves eat bunnies and not in a good way. So when I saw this book I knew I had to get my hands on it. It was a fascinating tale about mates and how they don’t always just jump into a relationship, but proves that it takes a lot of work to make it.

Wolfe is the pack Alpha and has been doing a pretty good job at it. His pack is one that is unusual. Most packs are born into it. However, Wolfe’s pack is from all over. His father had been a pack Alpha and when the beta wanted to be Alpha he told Wolfe’s secret. After being forced to leave his pack, he had made the choice to start a pack of his own. So out one night, he smells the best scent. A scent that calls not only to him but also to his wolf. He has found his mate, and surprise his mate is a bunny shifter.

Peter is a bunny shifter and is afraid of his mate. Wolves eat bunnies, and in this case, he is right and wrong. He is about to get eaten but in a very good way. It takes some time to trust his mate and fall in love, but he wants to take his time. He wants to get to know his mate. However, his mate just wants to get to it. He has to stand up to him but his will power is not as strong as he wants, because he wants his mate also. And when they get together, it is like hot sex on a stick.

I had a blast reading this and hope that this is just a start to many more stories like this one. I loved it and look forward to reading more by Susan. The characters are well written and grab your attention from the start. You will fall in love with them and laugh at their antics. It gives you a strong Alpha wolf, a feisty bunny mate, excitement, a bit of temperaments and some hot sex.

It had caught my attention from the moment I started reading it and kept it all the way to the end. It gave me almost everything I could want in a story, although I wished for a bit of danger to be added, I was quite surprised by it.

I would recommend reading this amazing story and checking out the rest by Susan.

I had a blast reading this story. This story is perfect for when you are trying to take a break.

Eli had been basically sold by his family to the Axel Group. He started off making things to help people. Kill diseases and other helpful ideas were what he had wanted to create. That is until his owner had him make a weapon that would kill. If he resisted they would beat him but kept him alive no matter what.

His goal was to find a way to escape and then to destroy the weapon he had created. He lived with so much guilt that when help came in the form of his mate, he was afraid. He didn’t mind dying as long as he kept others safe. So when his mate basically saved him after his escape he was surprised and grateful.

Jonan was a warrior and hated the creations that killed. If you couldn’t kill with your own hands, then it was considered evil. That did not mean he hated his mate, in fact he wanted his mate naked and ready for him. He, at first followed to see what Eli was up to, and then when he found out that his mate was the man he had went to watch at the convention he was surprised and shocked. He knew his mate feared all and that he was leery of strangers. He decided to take matters in his own hand and protect his mate.

Takeo’s life is a string of failed attempts to please his traditional Japanese father. Unfortunately, succeeding in business turns out to be just as difficult for Takeo as changing from gay to straight. In fact, the only thing Takeo seems to truly excel at is taking notice of Dwyer Knolls.

When Dwyer and Takeo head to Mangrove, Florida on a real estate buying trip, their tentative friendship combusts and becomes much more. Is their sudden connection real enough to bank their futures on, or should they chalk the whole thing up to the daze inspired by the blue ocean breeze?

Review: Dwyer Knolls already has one foot out the door when his company is re-envisioned by its Japanese owner. While Dwyer is elated he gets to keep his job, he’s a little miffed that he isn’t partnered with the mysterious and brooding son of the owner.

Regardless of partners and pairings, Dwyer seems to have a way with Takeo that no one else does, the two become friends of a sort all while they both harbor feelings for the other. A business trip to Mangrove, Florida changes everything, and these two become lovers in the time it takes to slam the bedroom door.

They can’t hide out in Mangrove forever, and a phone call from Takeo’s unreasonable father threatens to burst the perfect little bubble they’ve surrounded themselves with. Life offers them a reprieve and while Dwyer knows he wants to keep Takeo where he has him, in his life and in his bed, he’s not quite sure Mangrove is the place to do that.

Calmes has laid the foundation for another amazing series of stories all about love and acceptance. I especially like the tie in with Aaron of Duncan from the Matter of Time world. Calmes has a knack for pairing polar opposites and making the road they travel to happiness, while often times bumpy, believable, and attainable.

Now we have the marriage of Calmes writing and Greg Tremblay’s narration, I assure you its perfection. Tremblay is very fluent with Asian cultures, phrasings, nuances and the language. His voice flows seamlessly from Dwyer with his dry, witty sense of humor to Takeo and his abrupt, unflinching attitude. But I think my favorite aspect to their relationship was the bond of communication they built before they became lovers.

Short, sexy, fast read that had me smiling the entire time.

Review: Each book in Into the New World collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

There is nothing better than a good paranormal romance with two gorgeous men involved. There is something about the way that Frey tells a story that will not only draw you in and keep your attention the whole time. The characters are beautifully written with big hearts, however if you cross them, they have no problem putting you down. They will protect their mates with their entire lives. I had a blast reading this story. This story is perfect for when you are trying to take a break. However, I must admit that it is a bit harder to truly get an understanding of it.

Kai was a human who saw things in his dreams. He had been dreaming of a sexy man, but he only saw him from the backside. He was friends with many of the paranormal world, even if he didn’t truly know it. He was a gentle young man, whose family disowned him when he was gay.

Now here he stands with his friends, and his eyes are on one big man standing across the room. He was turned on, but didn’t know if he should approach or not. He was known for sleeping with others, but I am not too sure about that. In one part of the story, it came across as if he had not been breached. So I am not too sure about that part. However when he looks at Darius, he is looking for the future.

Darius is looking at his mate. He knows a bit about Kai, but would love to know more about him. Now if only he would get off his ass and approach the young man. He knows that he will have to tell the man what he is, but until then they have many things to learn about each other.

I absolutely love this book almost as much as I have loved the others in this series. I can’t wait to read the next story. When Frey puts out a book, I am usually there to eat them up. They do have a bit of a serious tone to them but there is a bit of humor in them that I love. It caught my attention from the moment I started reading and kept it all the way to the end. It also gave me almost everything I could want in a book.

I would definitely recommend reading this book. Trust me it will keep you laughing, crying, loving, and having fun.

Review: Hearsay is the first installment in Bylaws series about attorneys working for Acosta, Bradford & Chadwick. It is also part of a trilogy with in the series. All of the books will focus mainly on Roman and Derrick. You will get to follow their journey as they deal with damaging rumors, the judicial system, and life’s curveballs while they make their way toward coupledom.

I was fascinated by this book, so much so that I could not put it down till I got the end. You need to have tissues near you when you read this story because it will have you in tears. It is a very intriguing story that will draw you in and keep you captivated.

Roman and Derrick have been attracted to each other for some time. Derrick’s past and Roman’s future makes it very difficult to move forward. However, that was on Roman. Derrick had told him about how his mother had lupus and slowly died. He never thought he would have the strength to go through that again, not even for someone he lived. It made him afraid, and Roman would never do that to him.

When a teenager comes forward and says that one of Derrick’s friends with benefits molested him things start to heat up real fast. It heats up because this same young man says that he had seen Derrick and Tyler having sex and flashing him. It was all lies but brings things to the front of what is truly wrong. Roman was HIV positive and he didn’t want Derrick to face it with him.

Derrick had wanted his boss and loved him with his heart, but he thought Roman would never want him. No matter what anyone said, he just didn’t believe it. Now there was a problem with one of his past lovers and Roman figured he lied to him. Things were just not going the way he planned. He wanted Roman to love him and want him.

He knew there was some important secret that was not being spoken, but damn he wanted answers. The answer was not what he had expected, but he would do everything to prove to Roman that he was the one he wanted forever. Now all they had to do is to make sure Derrick didn’t end up in prison for a crime he did not commit. This has more passion and fire in it, then any other book I have ever written.

I was captivated the moment I started reading it. I must admit that even though I choose the book, the more I kept looking at the cover, and the title I just put it down to read later. Which once I started reading it I could have smacked myself upside the head for not getting to it earlier. It was an amazing story that will have even the strongest man in tears. It was so tender and so compelling that I just couldn’t stop reading it.

I felt bad for Roman. Here he is with HIV and thinking that the one man he loved would turn from him once he found out. Although I could have smacked him upside the head for not having enough confidence in the man he loves. Derrick proved that he has got to be the strongest man ever. He had shown that when he was just a child, with fears of what would happen to the point where he will do anything for Roman. As long as they stayed side by side for it all. Now facing prison on top of it all, plus all the rumors going around one would have to stay strong through all the trying times.

I would definitely recommend reading this. Although I would say that, I am mad at Taylor, for making me have to wait for the next story to find out what happens next. A cliffhanger was not what I was thinking when I got to the end of the book.

I loved this book and cannot wait for the next one in this amazing story. I must admit that I don’t know too much about HIV and aids but can there be a happily ever after or will there be pain to look forward to. However, I look forward to finding out. This story definitely has a twist to it that I absolutely loved. Trust me you have got to read this book.

Review: This book is just a whole lot of fun. There is also a whole lot of melodrama, which was once or twice over the top in my opinion, and for the most part, it was one character that could claim sole responsibility for it. The best part of that, it wasn’t the out and proud interior designer (house stager), Ace (aka Acelin). It was the mostly closest chiropractor, Zane, who at times did irritate me, but we can ignore that because the story is awesome.

In a way, I suppose, this story sort of serves as a coming out for Zane, who is thirty-seven and owns his own successful practice as a chiropractor in small-town Kansas. Hence the melodrama. Ace is a sweetheart, he has his own business he runs from home and moved to Kansas to get away from his deeply closest, mamma’s boy ex-boyfriend. He has established his business and he enjoys a close friendship with Erik, his best friend.

Which brings me to the cast of minor characters, who are just so damn lovable! Erik, Ace’s best friend, is also getting over (or got over, just too shy) a relationship that went sour. He is shy and lack self-confidence, but he also happens to have a crush on his best friend. I have to say, I really want Erik to get a happily ever after. He is all sweetness and soul. And maybe, ever so slightly, Ace took advantage of this friendship.

The other two main characters, who are just great, are Zane’s brother and sister-in-law, Brody and Adel. Adel is a force of nature and immediately buddies up with Ace, and Ace quickly calls her his fag-hag. She’s all for match making and at the end of the book was promising to find a match for Erik.

The epilogue just seemed rushed. It was written in the style where it’s a quick paragraph about each character and what happens to them. It was ok, in fact, it was good, yet somehow it didn’t quite match the style of everything else I just read. If it had been narrated by Ace, then perhaps it would match, but this was in third person. I just felt a little unsatisfied, like there could be more.

Blurb: Actors Ethan Grey and Alex Haynes are gay, but in Hollywood, they can’t be open unless they’re willing to be typecast in future movies or they’re dating prominent gay producers. Since neither are willing to become stereotypes, and neither have studio boyfriends, they take another path — hiding their relationship under the cover of a pretend girlfriend.

What works for Ethan, though, doesn’t work for Alex, who screws up to the point of losing his job and the chance to get another. His manager finally finds him another job across the pond, where he meets Nathan Wells.

Nathan can be the prominent producer Alex needs to further his career, but there’s something Alex doesn’t know about the man. Soon Wells grows obsessed with Alex, and he’ll do anything to keep Alex from getting away.

Though Nathan wants Alex for himself, there’s still Ethan to think about. Is the love story between Alex and Ethan really over? Or will Ethan find a way to get his boyfriend back?

Review: What happens when you live in a world where you are expected to live to the public standards? Ethan and Alex are gay and in love. Both young men are highly popular actors. Alex wants more form Ethan. Ethan is afraid of what would happen if they actually came out. Their careers are on a slippery slope.

This is a sweet story with some dark undernotes. The beginning is very sweet and we see how much these men love each other than there is a twist throwing Alex into depression, pain, anger, and possibly danger.

Iyana is one of my favorite authors but I will say this isn’t one of my favorite stories of hers. In my opinion and remember this is just my opinion it needed a bit more editing or perhaps a beta read, because I found a few loopholes. I also would have liked more of Alex and Ethan’s history and backstory. I really loved though the passion and love between Ethan and Alex and the emotions of Ethan dealing with being closeted.

If you like sweet romance, actors, closeted men, a dark twist with a happy ending this is for you.

Review: A really good story with amazing details. Conrad, Erick’s brother, meets Jake, a human who hates the reds. Intense and emotional scenes between the two as well as with Conrad and the rest of the pack.

I felt sorry for Conrad as he felt he was all alone without a true pack. But Jake is just the man he needs to help him. Fantastic story with hot sex.

Highly recommended.

Review: This was an interesting book, maybe more so if it was actually longer. It took a total of five minutes to read the whole book. For me to really get into it, there has to actually be a story. This was not what I expected.

Morgan always wanted to be a star guard and looked forward to reaching his goal. While at work, he hooks up with a star guard. Evander is what he would like to be. After a few rounds of hot sex, he takes Evander up on his lesson and heads to the stars.

It was meet, be fascinated by a star guard, have sex a couple of times and then that was it. There was nothing really in the story. I hope that the second book gives me more to read with a story line, maybe a bit of danger and excitement. This was a disappointment and I am just not too sure about the series any longer.

Review: I always wondered if men really did what they did in this book. You know screw anything that walked as long as they were young and gorgeous. Then I look around and say hell yes they do. I can see myself looking at the rest of J.D.’s books.

Trev is a forty-two year old man who slept with any young twenty something man. He was in fact pretty much a walking sex addict it would seem. Even with those around him telling him that he is in need of someone his age to stick by him for life. He wasn’t too sure but there was one that kept him looking longer.

Grant wanted to be that man for Trev, now all he had to do is to get Trev to figure it out.

This was a blast to read and I would recommend it. It has its sad parts but ended up happily ever after, or so I hope. I would love for it to be longer, because I would love to see where they go from this. It feels like I am just left hanging because I really want to know more about their future. It was a cute little story and you have got to read it.

Gorgeous men, hot sex, a little excitement and some growing up is offered in this story.

Review: Damn this was a hard book but it was a good read. It also tells me that I never want to see the inside of a prison. Ryan got busted for drugs and sentenced to over twenty years in a medium security prison. Knowing what happens in prison has in frightened and not sure what to do.

With the help of an inmate on his first hour there, he was given to an inmate that had been in for more than twenty years already. At first, he wasn’t so sure about Harrison, but after a while he realized he was in love. It is a hard life with lots of danger, excitement, fear, anger, pain and just a bizarre time all the way around. It would seem Harrison felt the same way about the young kid that has been shown to him.

I am not really sure how to give you a good review without telling the story so I will leave it at that. It was a damn good story that I wished many of the young would read. To see what they really do go through inside the joint and how to make it through it all. I had a blast reading this and felt bad for those who are in similar situations even though they did the crime.

It is a horrible place to be and for this young boy, his life is forever changed. I would recommend reading it.
