The One That I Want

Jason escapes into the magic of a Broadway play every weekend. Musicals always have a happy ending and for a few hours he can believe there’s a happy ending waiting for him, too. When the tall drink of water who works on the top floor of Jason’s building, wants to take him on a date, Jason is surprised. After all, Jason is awkward and skinny, and sees himself as a boring accountant, while Paul is tall, dark, and incredibly hot.
Despite Jason’s reservations, Paul and Jason start dating and attending the shows Jason adores. But if Paul likes musicals as much as Jason, why does he always doze off? Is Paul leading a double life? Does he have a wife tucked away somewhere?
Jason knows Paul is hiding something and when the secrets come out, Jason finds his fantasy comes to life, right there on the stage.
Title: Otter Chaos Series: N/A Author: PD Singer Genre: Paranormal/Shape shifter Length: Novel (235 pages) Publisher: Rocky Ridge Press (9 Oct 2015) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥4Hearts Blurb: Lon Ewing snowboarded in and turned economist Corey Levigne’s life upside down, introducing him to a world he didn’t know existed. Corey’s still adjusting to a boyfriend who shifts into an otter and raids the koi pond—and now Lon says Corey’s department chair is a werewolf?
Wolves at the university, wolves in the bank—across Lon’s desk sits Professor Melvin Vadas and his hench-wolves, demanding a construction loan for the pack’s new lodge in the mountains. There’s just one little problem: the proposed building site is home to a breeding population of rare fish.
What do wolves care for stupid human rules, an otter who’d barely make a good snack, or one pesky man determined to protect the environment? Once they’re snout to snout with Corey and Lon there’s more than silverscale dace on the Endangered Species list.
Includes Tail Slide
Fresh powder snow and running water in the Colorado back country call Lon like the moon calls the wolves. Belly-sliding to a good time on the weekends makes up for a workweek at a desk, and meeting Corey adds a whole new level of fun to snowboarding.
It’s easy to slip away for time alone in the woods without raising suspicion, but how’s Lon to entertain himself when bad snow and a worse spill force them off the mountain too early?
Review: This is the first book I’ve read by PD Singer and certainly is an author I’d love to revisit. I knew that Otter Chaos was going to be quirky and fun from the get go because let’s face it, otters are adorable. This is a different type of shifter book. However, first off, the opening to the book is in fact the short story, Tail Slide, where the two MCs of Otter Chaos meet.
Tail Slide is a fantastic introduction to these characters, Lon and Corey, as well as giving the reader a bit of a heads up as to how the rules of the shifters in this world behave. Well, the otter shifters at least. I would say without having the benefit of reading Tail Slide the beginning of Otter Chaos would be confusing and probably less enjoyable.
Now, let’s get back to Otter Chaos.
Lon is an otter shifter and like any shifter needs to spend time in his fur. He has to be careful how much time he spends as his animal because he doesn’t want to lose his humanity completely, even with the water literally calling for him to spend time.
Corey is his boyfriend who is taking the whole “my boyfriend is a shifter” thing really well (as you saw the beginning of in Tail Slide). Now that they are together, they need to learn to cohabitate and deal with each other’s quirks. They also need to deal with the threat of werewolves potentially destroying a threatened population of native fish.
Lon and Corey are absolutely wonderful together. Lon in his otter skin is absolutely adorable. I really liked the twist on the usual shifter thing where Lon is aware in his otter form but he doesn’t think human. He thinks more along the lines of a playful child, which is because otters are cute and exuberant (though I seen those buggers fighting over fish at the zoo, gee they’re vicious too). The incident with the koi pond is absolutely hilarious but it just goes to show how great a guy Corey is.
There is only one reason why I did not give this a 5 star review and that is because I felt that the story tended to drag in places. I loved the story, don’t get me wrong, I’ve just raved about it, but sometimes the pace was just too slow.
However, the romance is sweet and the otters are cute, what more could a lover of shifter stories want?

This book is a sequel to Two Man Advantage
Life has been treating Victor Kalinski well, which is a surprise for the ginger-haired forward with the venomous tongue. His career is somewhat stable, at least for another season. His relationship with Cougars alternate captain Dan Arou is deepening, despite the fact that Daniel has yet to come out of the closet.
It’s typical Kalinski luck when a puck bunny he shared a drunken night with several months ago slaps him with a paternity suit. Despite the sizzling passion and painfully heartfelt connection between them, Dan doesn’t take the news well, and heads back to Canada alone.
If he wants to make things right and win back the man he loves, he has no choice but to swallow his pride—and nobody’s prouder than hot-headed, ego-driven Victor.
Reader Advisory: This story has graphic sexual language and scenes—no closed bedroom doors (or other rooms) here!

Review: Wow, well this sequel just bound miles ahead of its parent story, Two Man Advantage. While I’m sure that some people may be able to get away with reading this instalment without reading the first book, I strongly recommend reading Two Man Advantage first and then going onto Game Misconduct. In the first book we see MCs Victor and Dan get together – which is not the easiest thing for pro sportsman. Although Victor makes no apologies for sleeping with men and women and Dan is deeply closeted.
Here we continue their story. They’ve been a couple for nine months and things seem to be going really well. The hockey season hasn’t quite started up yet, so things seem a bit more leisurely for the couple. Victor, foul mouthed gentleman that he is, is surprised as this is the longest relationship he’s ever had in his life. That is until his past comes back to bite, sending Dan running home to Canada.
As to the characters, I really need to explain Victor. I really did dislike him in the first book, but here in Game Misconduct he is so much more likeable (despite the circumstances of the plot) and he is so much more relatable (also despite the circumstances of the plot).
While Victor doesn’t redeem himself in every way throughout this book, his character develops really well and by the end of it I thought even though he’s still insentsitive and oblivious to the world around him, he is improving and wants to better himself to be the man that Dan wants him to be.
On the other hand, Dan hasn’t changed terribly much, though the end of the book is very much his since he not only has to deal with Victor’s issues and actions, but he is still in the closet – thus their relationship is very much secret for most of the book.
We are left with some major hints for a follow up book, not quite a cliff hanger, but I want more of these guys now that I love Victor.
If you liked the last book, this is a must read. If the first book left you with mixed feelings, like me, you definitely need to read this book. For others looking for a new series, this is a real hot and steamy sports romance with one foul-mouthed sort-of-hero and one real sweet hero.
Title: Little Wolf Series: A Being(s) in Love Story, #4 Author: R. Cooper Genre: Paranormal/ Mystery/Suspense/ Urban Fantasy Length: Novel (380 Pages) Publisher: Dreamspinner Press (May 8, 2015) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥4 Hearts Blurb: On the run from his old-blood werewolf family, Tim Dirus finds himself in Wolf’s Paw, one of the last surviving refuges from the days when werewolves were hunted by humans and one of the last places Tim wants to be. Kept away from other wolves by his uncle, Tim knows almost nothing about his own kind except that alpha werewolves only want to control and dominate a scrawny wolf like him.
Tim isn’t in Wolf’s Paw an hour before he draws the attention of Sheriff Nathaniel Neri, the Alphaest Alpha in a town full of Alphas. Powerful, intimidating, and the most beautiful wolf Tim has ever seen, Nathaniel makes Tim feel safe for reasons Tim doesn’t understand. For five years he’s lived on the run, in fear of his family and other wolves. Everything about Wolf’s Paw is contrary to what he thought he knew, and he is terrified.
Fearing his mate will run, Sheriff Nathaniel must calm his little wolf and show him he’s more than a match for this big, bad Alpha.
Review: This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone.
I have always loved romance stories especially when they are male on male romance. Now when you put it all into a good paranormal I am usually the first one in line for it. Now I must admit that this story does come off a little dark to me. However it didn’t take away from the story though.
Tim just pulls at your heartstrings. He is running away from his old werewolf blood family. However he is a bit lost. He thinks Alphas are cruel, dominating and just too much for someone like himself. He had listened to his uncle just a little too much. Then he meets a sexy Alpha. Nathaniel just draws him in. He makes him feel things he didn’t feel before. Now it is up to Nathaniel to show him the true meaning of mates.
I would definitely recommend this amazing story. It has a lot to offer you in many ways that some paranormal stories just don’t have. I have not been one to be captivated by a story’s darkness. However this one is a pretty damn good story. Now to get to the down and dirty. I was not pleased that it took Nathaniel too long to admit that they were mates. It does drag just a bit though.
I had a blast reading this and look forward to reading the next story. To me it had way too much description in it then was needed, but it didn’t take away from the story. It had enhanced it. Once I started reading I couldn’t put it down. I also had such a blast with the title. It gave me almost everything I could want in a story.
I look forward to reading the next book in this series and others by R. Cooper.

It is those dark aspects that I loved about this title. The romance is strong, but the suspense is its equal…

Title: A New Alpha Series: Nehalem Pack, #24 Author: AJ Jarrett Genre: Paranormal Length: Novella (130 pages) Publisher: Siren Publishing, Inc. (September 5th 2015) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥ 3 Hearts Blurb: Maurice Webster believes that falling in love is an illusion. Life is too short to be tied down to one man forever. He has plans and Maurice refuses to let a bout of “love” stop him from making his dreams come true.
Asa Anders never asked be born an alpha but he is and nothing will change that. His wolf is hungry to lead a pack but the Nehalem pack already has an alpha. He loves his new life in Silver Creek and doesn’t want to leave, especially when he moves in next door to his fated mate.
Getting Maurice to admit his feelings is just another obstacle in Asa’s life but he refuses to give up. The love of a good man is what his wolf needs to help control his anger and need to dominate, but will it be enough?
Or is Asa’s alpha nature a one way ticket out of Silver Creek and the Nehalem pack?
Review:This book is part of a series and should be read in order.
Overall this was a decent read. But there were some issues for me.
I just didn’t really buy into Maurice and his reasoning for avoiding relationships. He is only twenty years old and seemed too jaded. Also Asa avoiding admitting that they were mates from the start was a little strange to me. Maurice knew all about shifters and mates so I think Asa should have been more up front.
But besides those issues I did enjoy the bantering back and forth the two had with each other. I find many of them funny and entertaining.
Also the sex scenes were pretty damn hot if I do say so.
As always it nice to see favorite characters from other books in the series pop in and out to add their two cents. I really did enjoy the ending and how things all worked out.
So besides some storyline issues that bugged me I did like the book and look forward to more in the series.

Title: Yuletide Knights: A Spring Frost Series: Yuletide Knights, #2 Author: Johnny Miles Genre: Contemporary/Urban Fantasy Length: Novel (159 pages) Publisher: Loose-Id (14 April 2015) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥4Hearts Blurb: When Griffin Kloss escapes the hilly Carolinas to lick his wounds in balmy Fort Lauderdale, it’s a welcome relief for the former college football player. But with his mom and childhood home both in shambles. Griffin soon realizes he’s got much more to take care of than just himself. In need of escape, fun, and relief, Griffin meets the mysterious and alluring Jackson Frost.
Sparks fly as ex-frat boy meets smoking-hot spring breaker. Amid the heat of the sun and sandy beaches, Griffin and Jackson take each other by storm and along the way discover their connection is more than just coincidence. Theirs is a magical union that’s practically written in the stars, but will their passion be enough to sustain them through their discoveries or will Griffin’s need to nurse his mother back to health come between him and Jackson?
Review: This is the sequel to Yuletide Knights. I read this directly after reading book one, so I knew what to expect and was not in the least bit surprised when it came to the magical twist that came up as part of the plot.
The story follows Jackson and Griffin. Although it was never expressly stated, I’m pretty sure that these guys were featured in the back ground of book one. Griffin is facing the harsh reality that his mother may be suffering from Alzheimer’s or Dementia. He doesn’t seem to mind moving back to his old home town from the big city and it doesn’t hurt that he meets a hot guy who happens to be on Spring break.
There is a lot more to Jackson than meets the eye. In fact, getting to know Jackson has Griffin learning a hell of a lot about himself.
This was a lot of fun and really enjoyed the fantasy element in the story as the romance unfolded. However, I would have loved for there to be more explanation of Griffin’s mysterious past. This is a similar downfall to what I had seen in the first book, there just wasn’t enough information to satisfy me and allow me to reconcile the characters as they are in the present with their past.
Likewise, I would have liked a bit more of a HEA, but I suppose in the end those are both simply my personal opinions.
If you liked the first instalment, Yuletide Knights, you’ll probably find this a tad more enjoyable. If you like your characters with a bit of self discovery and romance, all with a dash of magic, this is probably the book for you.

Title: Here For You Series: Sunshine and Happiness, #1 Author: Skylar M. Cates Narrator: Paul Morey Genre: Contemporary Romance Length: 7 hours and 35 minutes Publisher: Dreamspinner Press (07-17-2015) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥5 Hearts Blurb: Cole Gannon arrives in the seaside town of Ocean Vista to work as a bartender and finally find a place to belong. Determined to make a home for himself, Cole lives happily with his four colorful roommates, whom he considers brothers. The only problem is Cole’s attraction to Ian Stark—a guy all wrong for him. He wishes he didn’t keep running into the sexy lawyer.
Ian knows Cole is attracted to him, but the younger man keeps him at arm’s length. It only makes Ian more determined to be with Cole and learn all his secrets. But while Ian has built a successful law practice, he hasn’t done too well with relationships.
When a sudden and devastating tragedy occurs, it shatters Cole’s world and throws Cole and Ian together in unexpected ways. In an instant, everything between them changes forever.
Review:Life is a thread connecting us. One pull and it all unravels.
After being basically abandoned by his mother in his youth, Cole Gannon has always longed for a family. Together with his four roommates, he has finally found the family atmosphere and love he always wanted. Then tragedy strikes and threatens the foundation of Cole’s nuclear family. The one person that wants to be a shoulder for Cole to cry on, to lean on, is the one person Cole has spent the last several months pushing away.
Ian Stark has been enamored with Cole since the first day he saw him at a BBQ his intern Brandon invited him to. Brandon is Cole’s best friend and one of the four roommates. He is also slightly smitten with Ian. It’s this conflict of interest and Cole’s devotion to Brandon that stop him from acting on his mutual attraction to Ian. That is, until Brandon is hurt and the only person Cole can think of to find solace with is Ian.
As Cole and Ian grow closer, Cole’s little family drifts further apart. While Cole has always been the glue holding them all together, Brandon was the roots that kept Cole grounded. Without him, Cole is confused, lost and hurting. Cole is torn between two worlds he wants to merge that refuse to blend.
This was a dark and emotional story. There were a lot of tears and anguish, but there was also love, beauty and hope. The little bit of angst that dotted the story was not only necessary, it was well done. Cole is in pain and confused about the rift growing between him and the three remaining roommates.
How fucked up is it that life hands you the man you have always wanted, wrapped up in a pretty little bow, but demands such a hefty price in return. Ian is steadfast and loyal though, forever patient with Cole and his mood swings and random outbursts. The story was a series of ups and downs and learning that while life is brutal and demanding, there is beauty in hope and love.
Narrated by Paul Morey and I just loved the voice he gave these characters, he truly brought them to life. Ian is a high power attorney, sort of a no nonsense kind of guy, and Morey captured that with his gruff, no arguments tone of voice. Oh but when Cole was on one of his tangents, Ian became soft-spoken and tender and it made him that much more endearing. Cole was sort of flighty and a bit air headed, Morey gave him an easy-going lighthearted tone. When push came to shove and Cole got upset though, you could hear the anger and pain in his voice. Fantastic job on telling the story.
If you like slightly angsty but still adult stories with one of those hard-fought happy ever afters, then this is the perfect book for you. I can’t wait to start the next book, and I so hope that Mark and Thomas get a story at some point.

Review: Nic Starr’s “More Than a Friend” is the second book in the “More Than” series, but it can be read as a standalone. Though there are characters from “More Than a Superstar” there is enough background provided that you will not be lost.
I liked Scott and Tim and their easy-going friendship. Their initial attraction to one another was believable and intriguing; it was fun seeing them each come to terms with their feelings. The fact that it wasn’t common knowledge that Tim was bisexual added an entertaining bit of confusion to the mix.
The build up to them getting together was good; I was looking forward to them taking it to the next level. The initial encounter with the two had a pretty good lead in and I thought they’d explode upon impact. Though they took it a bit slower than I expected, when things moved along, well, these two were definitely hot, sexy fun and more than burned up their sheets.
So, Scott, dating his brother’s best friend, and Tim, dating his best friend’s brother – they can’t have it easy… Can they? I am happy to say that though there was conflict and a slight bump in the road to ever after, they didn’t waver and all worked out in the end.
If you’re looking for a short and sweet read with some sexy thrown in, grab that blanket and that glass of wine or a cup of coffee and curl up with Scott and Tim; Nic Starr’s got a story to tell you.

Title: Bane Series: Strain, #2 Author: Amelia C. Gormley Genre: Dystopia/ Military Length: Novel (279 pages) Publisher: Riptide Publishing (September 21st 2015) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥4 Hearts Blurb: The weapon that nearly destroyed humanity may be their only salvation.
Rhys Cooper’s unique immunity to all three strains of the virus that nearly annihilated humanity has brought him the unwanted attention of Clean Zone scientists. They’ve summoned him for testing—ostensibly in the hopes of finding a vaccine—but Rhys’s partner, Darius Murrell, has good reason not to trust any government. He and his comrades in Delta Company were unwitting test subjects for Project Juggernaut, the military experiment that gave them superhuman abilities and unleashed the pandemic. Doubting the government’s intentions, Delta Company refuses to let Rhys go alone.
Fear of infection has kept Zach Houtman and his lover Nico Fernández apart for a decade. They meet rarely, just long enough to coordinate their spying on the head of the government’s virus research division. Secretary Littlewood is a vicious predator, and they suspect he’s trying to acquire the strain of the virus that would make him superhuman. To stop him, they need the perfect bait: Rhys.
For Rhys, helping them might cost him his relationship with Darius—or his life. For Zach and Nico, even if their plan succeeds, they still face the ultimate question: can infected and uninfected people ever live together safely?
Review: I admit I’ve still yet to pick up Strain and read it, and while I was afraid it will prevent me from enjoying Bane, since Strain is the setting for Bane and is totally connected with it, I felt like I got to know enough about Rhys and Darius for me to avoid feeling like I’m missing something important. This book focuses heavily on the relationship between Darius and Rhys, and let me tell you those two are so incredibly hot together.
I’m happy I didn’t get to read Strain, because it saved me from reading about Rhys being passed around for all the soldiers to fuck, even though there was a reason for that. I enjoyed Darius’s possessiveness when it came to Rhys, and the sex those two had was smoking hot!
Bane also catches up with Zack and Nico, the main characters in JUGGERNAUT, but their relationship is not as intense as that between Rhys and Darius. I found Zack tiring and frustrating, he annoyed me with his Fate multiple times…yeah I know, what a horrible thing for me to say. Not that I have something against his fate in God or anyone else’s, but does it have to be mentioned constantly throughout the book? Yes, I got it. God is telling you to stay without Nico and be miserable, now STFU!
I liked the whole plan for finding a cure, the antidote for the mutated alpha strain, even though in the end it didn’t work like it was supposed to. I also liked that this story was told from multiple POVs. It allowed us to better understand why the characters chose to do what they did, and the feelings they had about the situation they were in.
The ending was pretty unique and the idea was very interesting, but I’m not sure I understand exactly how the air in Russia is different from the air in the US, to the extent where it created such a tragedy.
Great series if you’re looking for a great sci-fi/dystopian theme.

Title: Roping Him In Series: …Him In, #2 Author: Jena Wade Genre: Contemporary/ Cowboys & Western Length: Novella (102 Pages) Publisher: Loose Id LLC (September 28, 2015) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥3.5 Hearts
Blurb: Lucas and Jason have been roping partners for five years and this year, together, they are going to win it all. Nothing is going to stop them.
One night of passion puts a road block in Jason’s plans to win the title. A title he desperately needed. Lucas never dreamed Jason would still want to ride with him after their night together. They could compete together, but rules needed to be set to protect his heart.
Review: Well this was not what I expected. This was the first book by this author that I have read so I wasn’t really sure what it would be like. I absolutely loved the cover, and the blurb was pretty good.
Although the story was just a bit drab. It came off like it was missing something that would make it a top notch book. It also came off to me that it was rushed.
Lucas and Jason are extremely hot. They can’t seem to communicate though and to me that is a bad sign. They have been partners in roping for five years and they had decided that they were going to get the gold as they say. The problem is just because the sex is good, doesn’t mean they can make it. I wanted to strangle these two. So they have sex and all of a sudden Jason can’t do what he intended. I felt like saying “get over it”, but these two needed something to make it.
The beginning is as hot as you would expect but just because they had sex one time doesn’t mean it needs to screw with their lives. It is a fast paced story that is pretty hot, but it was not my cup of tea. I want my guys talking and these two did the exact opposite.
Although when they do manage to well you can imagine. I was not much for I am straight but oh the sex is really good with you type of person. So I could imagine his expression when he decides to come out. Although what had happened to make him feel that way just comes off bizarre. That is just my opinion though.
Other than all of those problems the book is really cute. There were a lot of mistakes in it for me to give it a high rating but it wouldn’t stop me from checking out this author’s other books.

Review: When I first started reading this I wasn’t sure what to expect. It has a dark tone to it and very little humor so I was expecting it to be wrong for me. However when I started reading I could not put the books down. So much in fact that this is book four and I am still amazed. So much in fact that I read the first three books today and have just finished book four. Now most who know me know I can read fast, but these books take a little more attention than I had expected.
The characters are well written, there is so much depth to them that you can’t help but love them. Lucky and Bo have gone to hell and back. They still stuck with each other, through it all and for me that is amazing. Bo was my favorite of them both, Lucky came off as an ass however the more I read the more it was Lucky that pulled to me.
Bo was fed up with it all, so he left and then disappeared. He had been undercover for a year and he was making the ranks of drug dealer pretty fast. However two weeks and he is missing. Lucky must save his ass. The problem was it was the past that caught up with him.
After he had done his time with the agency, he had chosen to stay but had taken a new identity. Victor’s nephew was alive and new who he was. He had gotten Bo to work for him. However he wanted Lucky for himself. New allies show up to help, but there are many that are betraying them all. He has questions and needs the answers to get his man out of danger.
This was a fascinating story that caught my attention and kept it all the way through the book. It gave me everything I could want in a story and so much more. The love these guys have between each other is a love that should be seen throughout. The sex is majorly hot and oh I can say so damn arousing.
I had a blast with this book and would definitely recommend it. I also can’t wait to read the next book.

Title: Cotton Candy Deceit Series: A Circus Art, #1 Author: Tray Ellis Genre: Contemporary Length: Short Story (36 Pages) Publisher: The Rooster & the Pig Publishing (May 15, 2015) Heat Level: None Heart Rating: ♥♥♥3 Hearts Blurb: Jack Abbott has forbidden his son, Zeke, to attend the local circus. When Zeke goes against his wishes, Jack must rescue him from the clutches of a world he once escaped, but only at the cost of his lover, Jonas. Returning to the circus brings back nightmares, but Jack learns that Jonas is still alive.
Now an opportunity arises for Jack to rescue Jonas as well as Zeke, and to stop the dark dealer at the circus… forever.
Review: After reading this I definitely don’t plan on going to the circus now. It was a creepy little story with a dark tone to it. I wasn’t really sure what to think about it.
Jack had always told his son Zeke to stay away from the circus, so you can guess what a teenage boy is going to do. Not listen to his father that is for sure. However the circus is not what he expected. He sensed the danger right off the bat and thanks to one of the circus people he wasn’t going to find out. Jonas and Jack find each other once more, when Jack runs to save his son.
I am glad that the guys find each other once more, but I got to tell you it was really strange that is for sure. I am not even sure if I liked it or not. However it is book one, so I suppose I will have to read the next book to get a better feel of it. You know once bitten, for me I am definitely not shy. The book just had a zest to it.

Review:This book is part of a series and should be read in order. Also coincides with Beyond the Angel Pack Series.
This book managed to touch me with some of its more emotional tones. Crew in the past books gave the impression of one thing. But he is so much more and really very relatable by anyone who has felt like an outsider.
Due to his upbringing with his family he has such a low opinion of himself. It takes two mates and his chosen family to make him see how truly special and appreciated he really is. But he does have so many issues to get there.
I enjoyed Haven and Laylen. I don’t feel like I know as much about them, but what I did learn and read made me like them for Crew. Really I got the sense that this was Crew’s book, Haven and Laylen were there to make Crew happy and finally give him peace and happiness. They finally allowed Crew to be himself.
Oh my Gawd, was the sex hot, and dirty, and whoo. It was steam worthy to say the least. And maybe just a tad over the top. But damn I was fine with that.
Throughout the story there is the ongoing story arc of good versus bad and the upcoming battle. Malachi and his cohorts are up to their old tricks and target Crew with some bad juju. It also showed how Crew was seen as the weakest link and how he was overlooked as an assist to the pack.
I must say this was one of my favorites in the Angel Pack universe. I really felt a connection to Crew and his trials and tribulations. The book really pulled me in and kept me reading. I was engrossed from start to end.

Title: Incomparable Series: Bloodrose, #8 Author: Julia Talbot Genre: Paranormal/ Multicultural/ New Adult Length: Short Story (36 Pages) Publisher: Torquere Press (March 27, 2013) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥3.5 Hearts Blurb: Nikolas is a performer at paranormal the nightclub Bloodrose. When it comes to bottoming on stage, he’s incomparable. When it concerns dating co-workers, Nikolas is on way shakier ground.
New bar manager Ashe has been told Nik is way out of his league. Maybe that’s why he’s not prepared for what happens when the two of them begin dating. Can the boys figure out their hang-ups before it’s too late for their relationship?
Review: Jonny hired Ashe to bartend. I don’t think he had any idea that as soon as he saw Nik he was attracted. He wanted the man. Too bad everyone keeps telling him that the man is incomparable. He never dates coworkers and isn’t too sure about those around him.
However it is up to Nik to make the move, whether he is sure or not.
I had a blast with this book and look forward to reading the next story. Although these stories are way too short. I think if they were more flushed out and details added that they would be a top rate story. They do have a great amount of humor in them that I enjoy.
These stories are a blast to read and I would definitely recommend them. Although with this one, it was a bit different. It moved to fast for me to truly love. It doesn’t really take away from the story though. Julia does have a great imagination.

Title: Hot August Comes Series: N/A Author: KC Kendricks Genre: Contemporary Length: Novella (77 pages) Publisher: Amber Allure, Amber Quill Press (March 1st, 2015) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥4.5 Hearts Blurb: Leo Corbin shook the dust of Westfall off his shoes to pursue opportunities among the bright city lights. When his mother suddenly dies, Leo returns home to settle her estate. His grief at her passing quickly turns to shock at what she left behind and rekindles old questions about the identity of his father.
Harrison Wade stuck by his father to help run the family farm. Life for a gay man in Westfall has limitations, but Harrison knows how to make the best of them. When Leo Corbin returns to town, Harrison’s quiet existence tilts. Leo is the guy who put an end to the high school bullying Harrison endured so many years ago. Harrison quickly discovers his old boyhood crush on Leo has matured into an adult attraction.
As the mercury rises, Harrison and Leo’s friendly buddy arrangement heats up. When hot August comes to Westfall, they discover home is more than where a man hangs his hat. It’s where he gives his heart.
Review: Once again KC has written a story that just draws you in and keeps you captivated. I love the way the characters just developed together. I wasn’t happy with Leo, but after a time I realized how he felt was well deserved.
Leo had left his home town and the rumors that were running for a life in the city. He comes home when his mother passes on but he is left with questions unanswered. He wanted to know who his father was. He was hurting but a friend made it all better.
Well that and the fact that Harrison turned him the hell on. He had a chance at something, he just had to decide to stay in his home town and give Harrison a chance, or run. Harrison had not really wanted to be a farmer, just stayed to help his father. When Leo comes home, it is time to tell him how he feels.
I actually enjoyed this story quite a bit. I was not surprised however, because KC has always given you stories that just seem to flow just off the pages. The serious of the story has been blessed with just a hint of humor in it. For me I need to have some humor in my stories to enjoy them.
I had a blast reading it and look forward to reading more by this author.
