Review: I love how different species are from different worlds. Elves are from Venus, wolf shifters are from Mars, vampires are from Saturn and humans are from Earth. Although every once in a while you just might find one in a different place. Nicky is from Venus, but was raised on Earth. His mate was his best friend since he could remember.

So when Nicky became the king of the universe, things get a bit hinky. Although there are some major benefits. However he wants to go back to Earth and live there. However it would seem someone wants to put a stop to it.

Cooper is from Mars but lived on Earth like Nicky. A creepy monk has decided to break up their mating and keep Cooper on Mars. Nicky is about to go all ape shit on the whole planet if he doesn’t get his mate back.

I had a blast reading it and I can’t wait to read the next story.

When Stormy puts out a book I am usually there to eat them up. I would definitely recommend reading this book.

Review: Each book in the Alpha and Omega collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order. However, they can be read as a standalone.

There is nothing better than a good paranormal romance with two gorgeous men involved. I have always loved a story that involved an Alpha shifter and an Omega. It is something about the power struggle between them. One always knows that the Alpha is the strongest leader of the pack and the Omega is the one that keeps a pack together. Lisa Oliver’s stories always have a little twist to them that makes them even better. It is not one of those instant love and mate stories.

Caden has been raised in a pack where the Alpha is not only cruel but down right evil. He believes that the Omegas are just slaves. When Caden was eighteen he was to be made the Alpha’s personal sex slave. Well let’s just say he decided that was not what he wanted to do. He ran and his life went for the plus after a time on the streets. Caden is one hell of an artist.

Sean and his brother are Alphas, but Sean doesn’t want to truly lead. His father is one of the best Alphas around. He thinks that Omegas are to be welcomed and loved. So when Sean and his brother seek out an artist who paints wolves, he is shocked to not only find out that Caden is an Omega wolf, but he is his mate. When the jackass Alpha finds out where Caden is, it is up to Sean to keep him safe. Talk about a miscommunication type of couple.

I love this story and can’t wait to read the next book. I also love how Alpha males are so tender with their mates. I had fun with his and would definitely recommend it.

What a difference a year makes. Twelve months ago, Victor Kalinski was one of the best and most controversial ice hockey players in the pros. This year he’s playing in the minors, has a paternity case pending, and has just been vindictively outed to the world by one of his own teammates.

But he seems to find life in the tiny town of Cayuga to his liking. A large part of that is Dan Arou, the Cougars’ alternate captain and the man who now holds Victor’s heart. Surely venomous, viper-tongued Victor hasn’t been mellowed by love!

Well, perhaps a little. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t intend to get sweet revenge on those who’ve hurt the man he loves and the friends he’s somehow made along the way.

Review: Full Strength is the third and final book in VL Locey’s brilliant series about sarcastic and abrasive hockey player Victor Kalinski and his lover Dan Arou. If you haven’t read the first 2 books, you need to – I’m pretty sure this could work as a standalone but to be honest all the emotion and getting used to/falling in love with Victor’s acerbic tongue right along with Dan is a real pleasure.

In book 2 we left off with the devastating news to Dan that Victor, Game-Misconduct_MSRwho is really bad when it comes to handling his own emotions, struck out at Dan and ended up having a rather drunk one night stand. The result of which was the question, is Victor going to be a daddy? But one year later ,Victor is beginning to settle down it seems, Dan forgave him back in book 2, and the couple are more than happy in their relationship. Hell, even the baby-mamma claims Dan as the baby’s second father. Of course, their careers on the ice are still complicated (mostly because of their sexuality) and when Victor sees a threat to Dan’s career he jumps to make it better.

Victor and Dan are both wonderful characters. When I first read 9781419993664book 1, I was left confused as to why I loved Victor so much despite the man being a bit of a dick, and not in a good way. These two guys have evolved so much over the course the series – book 1 was more Vic’s story, book 2 was more Dan’s story, and finally in book 3 the guys seem to be sharing the limelight properly.

This is a great and satisfying ending to Vic and Dan’s story. If you’ve been invested from the start you will not be disappointed. I have to say that I’m sorry to that their story has finished, so I expect that I may be rereading their story sometime soon.

Review: Each book in the A:R Heaven collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order. I would start with A:R Earth though otherwise this whole thing can get confusing.

I spent most of my time with this book confused and frustrated. It was well written with a lot of details to it. So much detail that I lost interest before the first chapter ended. I pushed myself through this book but came to the conclusion that it is very long winded. I usually don’t go for books that have angels in them, but I had heard that this one was a fascinating read.

The problem was I didn’t see it. There are many stories that just draw you in and keep you captivated, this one did not do that for me. There was just something missing to bring it all together for me, which is strange since there was so much to it. It does have a lot of meat to it but for me it did the opposite then what was intended.

Ryan was given an angel status when he passed on. He thought it would be so easy to be one. He had not expected the way the whole thing revolved. His best friend was an angel and Finnian made things easier. The problem was Finnian was involved with the commander of heavens army. When Finnian wanted to go to the first level to see what things were like he agreed. The problem came when Finnian didn’t come back with him.

Anifiel is the commander and he blames Ryan for everything. It would seem that every time Anifiel shows up Ryan wants him. Ryan wants to find a way to bring Finnian back from earth, but he needs to regain his focus. He wants to be an angel not a human in heaven. Anifiel basically degrades Ryan. He humiliates him and treats him like shit, however there is something there. When Vithius takes an interest in Ryan things are going to heat up. For Vithius is the battle companion to Anifiel.

I am not really sure what to truly think with this story but I do understand that this book was just not for me. If you like angels, twists and turns, complicated characters and excitement then you might want to read this.

Review: Each book in the Melusine’s Cats collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

This is the first series that I have read by this author and I am still not sure what to expect. The story is well written but seems to be a bit off to me. The characters are well written with a lot of depth to them. There seems to be a bit of darkness to the whole story and for me that was a downside to reading this book.

Hal had been living the free lifestyle just traveling to where ever he wanted and doing what he wanted. However it all changed when he went to work at the Black Dog pug. Everyone seemed to love him especially the crazy orange cat.

That is until the cat started talking to him and things were getting strange. When a stranger showed up injured things are about to get heated up and parts of it not for the good. Hal soon finds himself into a new world altogether. His dreams now have a meaning, the cat is a guardian and the weirdness has gotten stronger.

Gryffyth has finally been released from his imprisonment and wants to take back what has been taken from his family. He wants revenge for what happened to his triad and for his injuries given to him by Melusine. He wants his father released but when he meets Hal and the cat, Tawny things start looking different to him and he realizes things were not what he had expected.

This whole story has been a very weird read. My attention wavered through most of it, but other than my thoughts on it the story is a fascinating one. The problem for me is it seemed a bit winded and it didn’t just flow right to me. I did enjoy it, but the story was not for me.

Blurb: As an epsilon, Rhys Gunner represents his werewolf pack’s law and order. He’s an ex-military man with a straightforward style and strong values to offset his beastly nature. One day his alpha tells him to search for new land to annex into their pack’s territory in order to accommodate their growing numbers.

On a nearby farm and bakery, Rhys meets a flock of sheep shifters. One of them, Heath Sheppard, turns out to be Rhys’s mate. But the black sheep of the family is not so keen on becoming a wolf’s mate—and he’s got a girlfriend, so he’s not gay.

By ancient werewolf law, a mate’s land becomes the property of the wolf pack. That would mean that the Sheppard Farm and Bakery belongs to Rhys’s pack. When the flock learns of this injustice, a feud ignites between wolves and sheep.

Ranks begin to crack as loyalties get divided. Is all really fair in love and war?

Review: Each book in the Pariah Pack collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Every once in a while you find an author that can give you a world that would be perfect to live in. I came across Susan awhile back when she started writing her series and I have to tell you that I will always grab her books up.

They are not only the perfect length for me, but they are so full of detail that it feels like you are right there with them. They not only entertain you but captivate you throughout the whole story. For me once I start reading I can’t move until I find out how they end. Her characters are also very fascinating and unique to me.

At first I thought this was going to be one of those sweet ones, but then there was this twist near the end that fascinated me. Also in this one you get a wolf mated to a ram, how crazy is that? I sure got a kick out of it.

Rhys deals out justice for his pack and also helps those who need helping. His alpha has been acting funny lately. So when he is asked to go find land so that they expand he gladly does so. Not expecting to find his mate. His mate in bed with a human female.

Heath sure didn’t think he was gay, hell he had a girlfriend. Yet there was something about the sexy wolf that pulled at him. However now Rhys alpha wanted their land and things were just not adding up. They had to find a way around this. However he knows he would not be saying no to his sexy mate on the whole mating part.

I would definitely recommend reading this book.

Review: Each book in the Brac Pack Next Gen collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

This series is branched off from the original stories written by Lynn. To get a really great read I would start with Brac Pack and then read the branch offs from that series. They include Brac Village, Zeus’s Pack, and Christian’s Cove and so on. This series is the children from the original men you read before. You will see the fathers in this series at certain points and I have to admit that usually it is Maverick. Hot damn that man is fine.

Omar and Kahl have known from the time they were children that they were mates. He had known from a young age about paranormals and mates. His uncle, the man who raised him was mated to a shifter. Whereas Kahl is half dragon shifter and half cheetah shifter. They wanted each other more than anything but Kahl knows a secret. He can get his mate pregnant and Omar had not wanted children. Then the witch from the past comes after them all.

Kahl is the beta to their pack but damn he acts more like an alpha if anything. He also has this strong need to protect his mate.

I love this story and can’t wait to read the next book. I also love how alpha males are so tender with their mates.

I had fun with his and would definitely recommend it.

Blurb: Home from their unexpected deployment, the former members of Marine Force Recon team Sidewinder rejoin their loved ones and try to pick up the pieces of the lives they were forced to leave behind. Ty Grady comes home to Zane Garrett, only to find that everything around him has changed—even the men he went to war with. He barely has time to adjust before his brother, Deuce, asks Ty to be his best man. But that isn’t all Deuce asks Ty to do, and Ty must call for backup to deal with the business issues of Deuce’s future father-in-law.

Nick O’Flaherty and Kelly Abbott join Ty and Zane at the wedding on an island in Scotland, thinking they’re there to assuage Deuce’s paranoia. But when bodies start dropping and boats start sinking, the four men get more involved with the festivities than they’d ever planned to.

With the clock ticking and the killer just as stuck on the isolated island as they are, Ty and Zane must navigate a veritable minefield of family, friends, and foes to stop the whole island from being destroyed.

Review: When Ty’s brother, Deuce, asks Ty to be his best man at this wedding… in Scotland… all expenses paid, Ty and Zane welcome the almost vacation from their otherwise chaotic lives. Having just returned from a six month deployment, Ty comes home with more baggage than what he carries in his Sea bag. He isn’t back two days when their boss calls both men into their office and tells them that since Zane is now in a Supervisory role, they can no longer be partners.

Furthermore, since their relationship is now out in the open, Mac wants to transfer one of them to another state. Ty does the only reasonable thing he can think of, he quits. The one thing Ty is no longer willing to do is put his job before his lover.

The call from Ty’s brother, Deuce, comes at the perfect time. An all-expenses paid trip to Scotland for a week to be Deuce’s best man with a plus one. Providing security for his niece should be a breeze, right? Come on now, this is Ty, Zane, Nick and Kelly we are talking about. Wrong!

The tension between Ty and Nick is thick, Nick still fuming over events that happened in NOLA. When the bodies start piling up, the two men have to put their differences aside if they want to survive. No one is safe, and to spite having four of the most dangerous men in the world on the island with a crazy killer, the bodies continue to drop, at a maddening pace.

Stuck on an island in Scotland sounds like a dream, right? Again, wrong! A storm knocks out the phones and internet, a tree falls on the boathouse and all the boats are either destroyed or drift out to sea in the sub-zero waters, Zane’s laptop has been fried.

Murphy’s Law should probably be redefined in Webster’s dictionary to Grady’s law. Their bonds of friendship, loyalty and love are put to the test as the four men race against time to figure out who the killer is and whether or not this is about Deuce’s future in-laws, or a threat that is far closer to home.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph… you seriously cannot take these two anywhere, and after the last couple of books, I’m convinced that Nick and Kelly aren’t far behind that statement. Once again Roux delivers an action packed, non-stop, thrill ride of a story. It’s intense, suspenseful, passionate and completely engaging.

I was reminded of the movie Clue while listening to this book. Between the storm, the bodies piling up, so many possible suspects, the hilarity that ensues during it all. I can assure you that it was not the cook, since she is in the kitchen with the knife, in her back. In the midst of the madness, Ty is trying to convince Zane to marry him.

I think I would have to agree with Zane, stuck on a deserted island with a killer(s) in their midst, not conducive for a happy engagement. Hell, they aren’t even sure they’ll survive long enough to attend the wedding they came to Scotland for.

JF Harding continues his narration of this motley crew. I love that he continually carries the same accents and tones from one book to the next for all the recurring characters. He also has the ability to convey the characters emotions at any given time to fit the words with the mood of the story. Let me just say, this book probably has the most secondary characters of any in the series thus far, and you can hear a distinct difference in each and every character.

Definitely a must read series, especially if you like the strong, overbearing alpha male type, and want to read or listen to a story where both men have those characteristics so you can see how the navigate a relationship and try to stay on a level playing field. The relationship between Ty and Zane the way they balance each other out, it’s something amazing to behold. Not to mention that hot, monkey sex on the carpet by the fire. Yowza!!!

It’s 1986, and what should have been the greatest summer of Nate Bradford’s life goes sour when his parents suddenly divorce. Now, instead of spending his senior year in his hometown of Austin, Texas, he’s living with his father in Warren, Wyoming, population 2,833 (and Nate thinks that might be a generous estimate). There’s no swimming pool, no tennis team, no mall—not even any MTV. The entire school’s smaller than his graduating class back home, and in a town where the top teen pastimes are sex and drugs, Nate just doesn’t fit in.

Then Nate meets Cody Lawrence. Cody’s dirt-poor, from a broken family, and definitely lives on the wrong side of the tracks. Nate’s dad says Cody’s bad news. The other kids say he’s trash. But Nate knows Cody’s a good kid who’s been dealt a lousy hand. In fact, he’s beginning to think his feelings for Cody go beyond friendship.

Admitting he might be gay is hard enough, but between small-town prejudices and the growing AIDS epidemic dominating the headlines, a town like Warren, Wyoming, is no place for two young men to fall in love.

Eye of Scota

(Dalriata 01)
by

Serena Yates

In 845 a group of Gaels fleeing the Vikings stumbled through the mystic Eye of Scota and found safety on a planet they named Dalriata. Seven centuries later, the arrival of the Crìosdaidh religion changed everything. Fugitives stopped appearing, and the newly established Council of Priests used the energy of Slànach Stones to enforce their religious laws. But by 2500 the Stones’ power is dwindling. The High Priest is desperate—none of the warriors sent to find more Stones have returned.

Cináed MacAlpin, a young healer priest, is chosen to undertake another attempt. He hopes that new Stones will reduce the pressure to heal only those deemed worthy by the priests. But his task is not easy. Cináed must travel to the land of Bunádh and find the Eye that is the source of the Stones. Once there he meets Tadeo Banderas, a spaceship captain exploring the newest Earth-like planet discovered by the Solar Exploration Fleet. Cináed and Tadeo soon find out that the spark of energy between them may hold the key to Dalriata’s future.

Review: Just look at this fantastic cover. It’s one of the best I’ve ever seen! To me, this beautiful cover had its own story to tell.  I expected an intense, emotional book that would probably make me shed a few tears! I was not disappointed! This will more than likely be in my top 3 books that I’ll be reading in 2016 and it currently holds the #1 spot.

Let me start my review by saying that I’m truly overwhelmed and impressed with Brandon Witt’s talent for writing. Not only is his work easy to read and sure to make a lasting impression, it draws the reader (in this case me, of course) in to the point where every description of surroundings, every detail and emotion was right there for me to feel. I was right there with the characters seeing what they saw, sharing the sights, smells, feelings with them until I felt like I was a part of them. This happens so rarely to me that I was completely overwhelmed in the most beautiful way.

The night 12-year-old Isaiah got his first kiss from RJ, the boy he loved, turned into a nightmare that still haunts him two decades later. RJ’s entire future was ripped away from him in the most horrific way possible and he now lives in an assisted living facility, where he waits patiently for Isaiah to come visit and spends his days coloring. Isaiah still feels guilty for running and leaving RJ behind on that horrible Halloween night, and no matter how much professional help he’s gotten, he is still haunted by it.

Isaiah is now a teacher for special needs children, and that’s how he meets Ben Woods, the “brother” of one of his students. Ben is exactly the type Isaiah is attracted to, imperfect, somewhat damaged, with wise eyes that tell a story of a hard life. Isaiah can’t stop thinking about Ben and no matter how many warning flags and signals his brain is trying to send him when it comes to Ben, Isaiah simply can’t stay away.

Ben’s childhood pretty much ended the day before his 6th birthday, when his alcoholic father murdered his mother and brother before pulling the gun on himself. Ben doesn’t remember everything that took place that night, yet his whole life path changed that night. Sent to live with an emotionally abusive grandmother, Ben numbed his pain the only way he knew how: by submerging himself into a world of drugs and alcohol, prostitution and sex. Years later, Ben is a recovering addict who has the full support of his make-shift family: Daniel aka Mandonna and his long-time partner Hershel.

Brandon Witt - Under a Sky of Ash Teaser sI can’t tell you how much I loved Mandonna, she was fierce and funny and precious, with a huge heart full of love for the people in her life…you know, the typical drag queen. Everybody needs a Fairy Drag-mother in their lives and Ben is a lucky bastard for having one. Mandonna was the very much-needed burst of happiness and light with mad fighting skills. Just give her a pair of stilettos and she’s lethal! But I also loved Hershel, the intense and grumpy guy who’s the opposite of Daniel, but his exact perfect match. So much love for those two!

I can’t say much about Ben and Isaiah’s relationship without giving the whole plot away, but let me touch on a few things I loved the absolute most! You know how usually Brandon’s books lack the steam factor? Well rest assured, there’s plenty of steam in this one. And while the sex scenes are not overly descriptive, they’re still hot and just perfect!

I also loved how honest and real the characters were, especially Ben when it came to his feelings for Aaron and his relationship with him. It was painful and brutally honest. Definitely not pretty, but oh so real!

Usually I’m pretty good figuring out early on which way a book or plot is headed, and despite a few warning bells I had no clue I was going to get completely and totally blindsided. I really didn’t see that coming. It was shocking and surprising, but definitely not overly dramatic or embellished. Well done Brandon, very well done!!!

I apologize for the long review, but in all honesty I barely touched up on the important stuff. This book is absolutely amazing. The best I’ve read in a very long time. I can’t recommend this enough. Read it or you’ll miss out on a wonderful story.

And for those of you that need a happy ending, you’ll definitely get one. A beautiful one that made me smile and made my heart happy.

Oh, and the dedication is very special as well. Eric Arvin, if you played such an important role in Brandon’s career as an author, thank you! If it wasn’t for you we’d miss out on some great talent!

Blurb: How to get over someone? Get under someone else—as soon as possible.

Vincent Lim always assumed his best friend (and occasional hookup) Austin would be waiting for him—that eventually they’d end up together. But now that Austin’s in love with another man, Vinnie is at a loss.

After the world’s most awkward one-night stand with a dance major, Vinnie knows the drill. Minimize the embarrassment by pretending they’ve never met. Yet Bryan’s vibrant spirit and calm center lure Vinnie like a shelter from an emotional storm.

But Vinnie’s thrown off his game by the rest of Bryan’s total package. Vinnie’s a rowing jock with a single-minded focus on living up to his parents’ academic and social expectations. Bryan might as well be outfitted with glittery butterfly wings—with plenty of pride to match. Vinnie’s haphazard attention to a lover won’t cut it this time.

Physically, they can match each other stroke for booty pop. But for the lovers to meet on common ground, they’ll have to find a way to get moving in the same direction.

Warning: Contains one uptight rower, a dancer who can rock a skirt like nobody’s business, yoga lessons, and the benefits of being very bendy.

Review: I’m not sure whether to be happy or sad that this series is over, I have somewhat mixed feelings. I kind of want to celebrate its over because it was time to end this and I think this book is a nice strong end to this series.

I though Vinnie and Austin will get their happy ending together, but it wasn’t meant to be. I wasn’t very disappointed and I’m not sure that’s a good thing or not, but I’d like to think I just rolled with the punches. If Vinnie and Austin didn’t want to be together, who am I to force them?

Vinnie is this serious guy, all intense and focused in his studies to the point of obsession. He’s very proper, all slacks and khakis and button down shirts. Vinnie isn’t a very sexual being; in fact, the only times he has sex with Austin is when he’s had a lot to drink. Vinnie made me very sad, for him and in general, although I can’t figure out the exact reason why. What Vinnie needs is someone who’s the exact opposite of him, someone who can shake up his very monotonous life.

The person Vinnie needs is none other than flamboyant, effeminate Bryan, a dancer and yoga advocate. Bryan knows he stands out but doesn’t give a shit what people think about him. He doesn’t like to tone it down, even though Vinnie would very much like him to. He wears hot pink shirts and high-heeled boots, and if Vinnie is ashamed of him, then he can go to hell. Bryan doesn’t like to let other get close to him, because he’s been hurt and abandoned by the very people who were supposed to love him unconditionally.

Vinnie and Bryan’s relationship is more about enjoying each other’s company and genuinely liking to spend time together. They do yoga together, study together, make out and sensually explore each other’s bodies.

Neither Vinnie nor Bryan are too crazy about penetrative sex, but that works for them and makes them even more perfect for each other. Their sexual relationship is more sensual and intimate rather than steamy and dirty. I prefer a mixture of both, but in this case I though the lack of steam was fitting.

Their relationship isn’t perfect, because they have to deal with a homophobic parent and some homophobic douche bags who are students at the same campus. Problems arise, some more dramatic than others, but as long as Vinnie and Bryan focus on what’s important and don’t lose faith in one another they should be fine.

It’s been nice hanging out with these guys and their significant others, I wish them the best! And I’m certainly looking forward to Amy’s future stories, so let’s hope we won’t have to wait too long.

Review: Each book in the Kansas City Heat collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

There was a new drug out there that is sold extremely cheap and is ending up in the hands of teenagers. However, due to the danger it was going to cost the son of one of the detectives, they have decided to handle it a bit different. Page and his partner go undercover, but when the bust was over, it showed a sexy shock.

Suede is high up there in the drug business. He is sexy drug lord that is a mean as can be. He however is not who one would think. He has a story to tell and it brings them closer together. They were going to go after Montoya together.

Normally I go for paranormal stories, but Jenna has a way of giving me sexy men with guns and badges, the perfect amount of danger and pain, plus some hot sex. She is my number one go to for hot stories that involve sexy detectives.

I can’t wait to read the next story.

I would definitely recommend reading this book.

Blurb: A feisty, untrained Dominant shows up at Hampton Road. Could he be the right man who Colin’s been saving himself for?
Submissive Colin loves his new life and job at The Hampton Road Club. He doesn’t mean to make the staff angry when he reorganizes everything or frustrate the available Masters by never letting them touch him. He only wants to serve someone, to make them happy, but he’s also waiting for the right man the way his grandmother had advised him to do before she died.

Another night, another brawl. Roddy had hoped that Hollywood would have better male prospects than Louisville when it came to playing rough. When Roddy’s latest would-be conquest threatens him with bodily harm, Roddy is chased right into the path of two of Hampton Road’s Masters, Ned and Aaron. They describe a wonderful club to him, where sadomasochistic men can enjoy each other, hidden safely behind the walls of an elegant mansion.

The moment Colin and Roddy spot each other, they fall hard and fast. While Master Saul is thrilled that Colin has finally found someone, what do any of them really know about their new guest?
It seems that Saul’s fears are ungrounded until tragedy strikes in Roddy’s world. It’s then that the validity of Colin and Roddy’s new love is truly tested.

Was their bond real, or did Roddy have another agenda he’d kept secret all along?

Review: If the cover isn’t hot enough to make you pick this up, and the blurb doesn’t entice you more than let me tell you…just do it! That is if you like mild BDSM and very sweet romance.

I fell in love sweet little Colin in the last book when he was brought in by Ned. Who wouldn’t love a darling little fella that wants to save himself until he meets the right man, yet yearns to taste the life he sees around him? Plus, as sweet as he is there is a touch of mischief and his OCD is too cute.

Now let’s toss in a young man who likes sex a bit rough and ends up getting roughed up every time he tries to fulfill his need. Being gay in the 20’s is bad enough…liking things a little rougher is…well, rougher.

We get a bit more Aaron and Ned and, of course, Saul. I loved seeing Saul’s fatherly instincts come to the forefront. This book is a bit milder than the rest BDSM and Sadomasochism wise as we have to men learning to love and to explore this side of themselves.
If you like a really sweet romance, the 1920’s setting, first times, true love, love at first sight and some pretty hot man-sex you will love this.

Note: This is book 5 in the series and is best read in order though this one you could possibly follow OK, I still recommend you read them in order to understand and know all the characters better.

Love Me Like a Rock by Amy Jo Cousins

Blurb: In art and in love, it’s the rough edges that make things interesting.

Having grown up with artistic implements always in hand, there’s almost nothing Austin can’t make real. Except for one thing—an official relationship with his best friend, rowing teammate and occasional hookup, Vinnie.

The combination of emotional and sexual frustration fuels a spark between Austin and the nude model in his drawing class. Austin isn’t used to having trouble focusing; models are merely challenging subjects to be rendered on paper. But the geology TA’s direct blue gaze is powerful enough to drag Austin’s focus away from his physique.

After a quick and very dirty post-class encounter, all the reasons that Austin has been waiting for his best friend go fuzzy in his mind. Sean is nothing like Vinnie. Sean is persistent, pays attention, and makes it clear he wants to be together.

But if Austin can’t get his head and his heart on the same page, he could lose his friend, or his lover. Or both.

Warning: Contains rock geeks, tent sex, a dictatorial cox whose idea of a good time is drawing naked dudes, plus one naked dude who wants to be more than a good time.

Review: I feel like jumping with joy and doing cartwheels and all that crazy stuff that shows I’m happy with this book! After the disaster that Rafi’s book was (Real World wasn’t that great either) I was cautiously optimistic that Austin’s story would be a lot better. I wanted the same quality writing I got used to getting from Amy and not even the fact that Austin and Vinnie weren’t going to be happy together didn’t deter me from giving this book a try.

The first thing that convinced me this was a turn in the right direction was the use of a ginger character. I just LOVE gingers! Apparently, Austin does as well. Because even though he’s still hoping for a relationship with his long-time friend Vinnie, he doesn’t lose the opportunity to ogle Sean. The model in his art class. Or rather, he doesn’t exactly ogle Sean per se, because Austin can’t take his eyes off of Sean’s dick.

This book was humorous, and I liked the vibe and chemistry I got from Austin and Sean. Those two couldn’t keep their hands off each other and had sex pretty much whenever the need struck them.

There isn’t much angst. But the difference between the expectations those two had when it came to their relationship created enough intensity to keep things interesting. Sean wants something serious from Austin, and he doesn’t fail to let Austin know.

Even though Austin is still hung up on Vinnie, he can’t help but start to see how much better Sean is. How much more alike they are. Austin isn’t used to being wanted, but has always dreamed about it. So little by little, he starts to see Sean for who he really is… a devoted, dedicated man. One who always makes Austin feel wanted and feel certain he’s got Sean’s attention at all times.

I would’ve really liked to have Sean’s POV as well (the story is told in Austin POV only). But, I appreciate how well written and powerful Sean’s character is. He is easy to understand and connect with, and his personality comes through loud and clear. The dialog was so well written, at times I felt like I was seeing things through Sean’s POV, especially during their first camping trip.

You see, Austin NEEDS that first cup of coffee at the beginning of each day, only coffee makes him poop. Austin knows nothing about pooping in nature, so when told he needs to dig his own hole, he’s horrified. For Austin, digging his own poop hole is akin to digging his own grave, at least that’s what I got from the whole thing. That’s some seriously hilarious shit (no pun intended) you don’t want to skip on.

This was awesome, and I almost wanted to give if 5 stars, but it wasn’t quite there. I wanted it to be longer and maybe see some resolution between Vinnie and Austin. I know we’ll probably get that in the next book, but I’m not good at waiting.

Great book!

Review: This is the eighth book in A Loving Nip.

When asked for volunteers to go to Alpha Dorian’s to help protect shifters that had been abused vampire Tate doesn’t hesitate to agree to the mission. Once there he meets sexy Psion, a clouded leopard shifter.

Psion has been held captive in a cage most of life by witches since he was twelve. Finally rescued he is learning things about his new world when he meets the handsome Tate. Psion has a problem with blood as a result of his captivity. I loved that Tate tried his best to ease Psion’s fears.

Most of the book is about these two getting to know one another with a little action thrown in from rogue shifters threatening the pack.

Although I enjoyed this well written story, I felt it was rushed and the actions scenes were too short.
