Review: Signs of Life is book 2 in Melanie Hansen’s Resilient Love series. I hadn’t been sure what to expect. I had read book 1, about 2 years ago, and from reading my review of that I loved it, though I had trouble remembering all of the plot. Regardless, I went into the audio of book 2 with an open mind and hoping that I didn’t need to do a proper re-read of book 2. While I’m sure it would be best to read the books in order, I find that Signs of Life also works perfectly well as a standalone book. However, be warned, it’s probably best to have some tissues handy for this one.
The story follows Jeremy Speer, a lawyer with a tragic past after the death of his family, and passionate school teacher who works with troubled kids, Kai Daniels.
Jeremy has a lot of baggage and emotion to work through before even thinking about a relationship beyond sex. After their first encounter, work brings the two men back together and Kai is not a very happy man about seeing the man he thought as an asshole. For Jeremy, the fact that he barely knows Kai, especially since their first encounter is in a dark, dingy gay club, he has to open himself up before completely fucking up any chance he could have with Kai.
The plot line itself is fairly simple and I’ve tried to keep this review spoiler free, which is the reason why it is so short. For me though, this book was all about the emotion – the loneliness, hurt and grief which has the opportunity to transform into acceptance, love and hope.
I’ve not heard a lot of books narrated by Robert Nieman, and while he is not among my absolute favorite narrators, I nonetheless enjoyed listening to his narration.

Review: I came across this author a few years ago when she wrote the first book in The Lost Shifter series and knew that she would become a favorite author of mine. I have not been let down yet, at least with the paranormal romance stories.
There is nothing better than a good romance that involves the paranormal world. This story is quite unique, different from wolves and feline shifters. You have a group of coyotes, bears, wolverines and even foxes. My attention was captured with the first line and kept all the way to the end. The story is strong and fierce, just as the characters are.
Elijah was caught kissing another boy, and his father went crazy. Pip was whipped and sent away to die, but Elijah was held hostage in his room. Elijah is an omega as was his mother, and omega’s are thought to be weak and should be dead, according to his father. He believed it after hearing it for so long. Then his father decided to give him to a bear clan as a peace treaty.
Kayden was fascinated with the little omega ever since he saw his picture. This was to keep peace between the two groups, but once he finds out exactly what had happened to his little mate, lets just say he would love to see some blood. There are a few more twists to this story that is going to make the story rock even more.
The characters were a blast to read, and I am glad that they were paired off. They seem to just make it work, now if only Elijah’s father and brothers would disappear. I had a lot of fun reading this and can not wait to get my hands on the next book.

Stubborn shifters, a gorgeous fae toddler with magic flowing from her fingertips, demons, wolves, and even a visit from the Fates; Beau and Liam have to fight through fire before they get their third and the HEA they both dreamed of. But will it be enough.
Review:Each book in the Arrowtown collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and cross over characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.
Liam’s mate Theo rejected their bond and was quite nasty about it. It seems Theo didn’t believe that true mates existed. There were signs that something was desperately wrong with Theo, but it isn’t until Liam’s other mate showed up. Liam didn’t even know he had a third, but stranger things do happen.
Beau is a phoenix shifter and there were rules. One of the rules is not to look for his mates until they have already met, but something was telling him to go now. What he finds out, shocks him. But not as much as Theo’s reaction. Magic is spilling out, and there are some dark secrets. Fates have a big surprise in store for Beau and Liam, but if you must know read the book. It will surprise you, and in the best ways.
I wasn’t sure if this story was going to have a happily ever after to it, but damn if it didn’t give me a big shock. Not as big a shock as Beau was going to get, but pretty sweet. I did like the sweet and sexy third to the book. It caught my attention from the start and kept it all the way to the end. I love how this author threw in demon possession, that was a nice twist that ended in the best way. Trent was sexy and sweet as hell, a real big plus to this story. Lisa’s stories are getting better each and every time.
It has a serious tone to it, but there is some humor to be found in it. I will admit that you should go back and read book one first once more, because the characters are all tossed around. I can’t wait to see Luke and Lucien’s story. I felt a little bad for the rabbit though, he really needs to get a job, but damn if he doesn’t know how to use his assets. I had a lot of fun reading it and can’t wait to read the next book.

Review: I have to say I was a bit taken back after reading this story. I was expecting more action than the one scene at the end that ended all to quickly. Mostly this story is about Knox and Charlie and how they grow closer despite opposing forces.
What I would have really liked is that when the paranormal military unit went on missions is that we were told in detail what happened. But alas that did not happen. I like action in my paranormal stories so I was surprised this one did not have what I was expecting.
Never the less it was an enjoyable, sweet, funny read. I hope to read more in this series with a lot more than just two men getting together as it did not feel like an actual paranormal book to me.

Review: I loved this new couple. Don’t get me wrong I loved Kavon and Darren but at the same time I was getting bored reading about only them as the mc’s so this was refreshing.
Angel, an ex con is recruited by Darren and Rima to be an informant. His task, to infiltrate the Luschesces mafia group that recruits the talented and if they refuse, kill them. This is where he meets Matteo, the mob boss’ son.
I really enjoyed watching these two men traverse in a dangerous world they are in. Some scenes are cring worthy as Angel adjusts to his magic and is tested in his new abilities by the mob. Matt for his part is nothing like his father which I found refreshing.
All in all it was a wonderful start to new characters and new aspects.

Review: Manny Get Your Man is the second book in Amy Lane’s series, The Mannies. I suppose that this does work as a standalone book, but I think that you really need to get acquainted with first book if you haven’t already. If nothing else you’re doing yourself an injustice by not reading an excellent book. Manny Get Your Man features a lot of characters from The Virgin Manny and is set about 10 years later, so you find out about all the characters (major and minor) we fell in love with in book 1. In fact, the first sentence of the blurb does assume that the reader has read the first book.
I really loved Manny Get Your Man. Taylor and Brandon’s story was just… awesome. We met Taylor back in book 1 – he was the obnoxious, brash best friend of hero Tino’s (The Virgin Manny of the title) sister Nica, who hit on Tino while Tino was busy getting his HEA with Channing. But 10 years later and after a stint in the military, Taylor has grown up – A LOT – and starts his journey of redemption (at least for the reader). Taylor is returning home after recuperating from injuries and his job is to be the manny for his best friend Nica, who is about to have her 5th kid with her brother’s best friend, Jake. It is here that Taylor meets Brandon, who lives in the garage apartment of his cousin, Jake.
I know, it’s a tangle. I won’t stop you from getting a paper and pen out to draw the family tree. I absolutely loved this story. John Solo’s narration of the book is wonderful to hear, but then again, I think I could listen to almost everything narrated by John Solo and be exceedingly happy. That man can narrate a book like nobody’s business.
If there was one criticism it is that unlike book 1 where Sammy (Tino’s charge) was a major character of the book, Nica and Jake’s kids are not really characters, only occasionally getting the spotlight with their manny. Though I must say, this would have been tricky to work through with that many kids… seriously, five kids before 30! But with my belief suspended, I fell in love with both Brandon and Taylor. Their story is beautiful, and it was just awesome to be able to revisit old friends. The guys just clicked with their chemistry and were super relatable.

Review: I loved the plot of this book. I love KC Well’s writing. I also read the book and wondered how much my opinion would change between formats. Often I find that a narrator adds the right tone and emotion to the characters that allows me to enjoy stories more. Unfortunately that was not the case. However, that is not to say I didn’t not like the narration. On the contrary, I really enjoyed listening to the narration of Finn Sterling, the first time I’ve had the pleasure to hear his narration.
This is a book for those that like a bit of insta-love, are all for a Phantom of the Opera type of disfigurement and a smoking hot, young handy man who seems a tad naiveté or too good to be true. My only criticism is that I desperately wished that it had a lot more depth of emotion, particularly from Christian’s side and part of me wanted more trepidation, more dating because Christian is agoraphobic and if there had been a chance to develop the emotion and plot a little more would have made the characters more believable and more relatable.
Christian Hernandez moved Jamaica Plain – an idyllic housing development south of Boston – eight years ago from Colorado. He learnt a hard lesson when he became disfigured and then decided to hide away from the world.
Honestly, I can’t say much more without blowing his entire back story. I suppose you can call him agoraphobic, he refuses to leave his apartment but it all comes down to vanity and hating the stares his looks usually attracts. (This dude needs to go back to counselor or psychologist, stat). He has everything delivered to his and works from home. Everything is ordered in his little world until he finds out that his kitchen and bathroom is going to undergo a much needed renovation. That means the handyman that does a lot of the work around his building needs to enter his home. Something that Christian can’t have, even if that handyman is the hot guy he often admires from his window.
Josh Wendell is young and idealistic in many ways. But he is the handyman that is going to renovate Christian’s apartment. There have been many rumors about the occupant of apartment 1, but nothing could prepare Josh for what happens. This is especially because his first impression is that Christian had locked himself in his bedroom all day while Josh was working (unknown to Josh at first). Josh has just the right amount of sweetness and understanding to help Christian get out of his shell. A little bit of romance doesn’t hurt either!

Review: This is one emotionally charged read and I loved it! Everything Changes is Melanie Hansen’s debut novel and I have to say for me it hit all the right buttons. I’m a sucker when it comes to the wounded soldier kind of angle and really enjoy the emotional rush that must inevitably follow provided that the author hits on those emotions.
This is about best friends, ex-Naval medic Jase DeSantis who out in the real world works as an EMT and working hard to get his band signed up to a record deal. Carey is an ex-Marine, an explosion in Afghanistan meant that he had lost the lower half of one of his legs and he now works with other ex-service people who have trouble coping with their own injuries. The guys met in service and became friends on board a ship some years earlier and through Carey’s rehab they continued being friends.
I enjoyed the brief flashbacks because, honestly, nothing bores me more than a long flashback telling us how we got to where we are in the middle of a book. These flashbacks helped to serve to explain the friendship and comradely between the guys, they also serve to define Jase and Carey’s individual issues. For example, Jase also has PTSD that Carey helps him to deal with during the course of the book. Okay, one thing that niggled at me, why did it take Carey so long to see Jase’s PTSD? I suppose there are many reasons to potentially explain this one.
So that’s the guys – now the attraction. I loved it, it was slow simmering. Jase is openly bisexual. Carey, I think, is just confused about their attraction and his sexuality, something that I concluded after a couple of flashbacks. That being said there is a bit of the “gay for my best friend” or “gay for you only” vibe, but really it is only a side note and not really what the book is about. Together, Jase and Carey work well and it’s easy to quickly cheer for these guys to get along.
