Review: I just recently discovered that Dirk Greyson is the pen name for Andrew Grey, and as I’ve discovered these are mostly intrigue, mystery or suspense type of books. So naturally, being that I love reading everything by Andrew Grey, I just have to give Dirk Greyson a go as well.
I do like a good suspense, but I have to admit that my only reservations for this book is the fact that it looks like an ongoing saga between the two. I’m not normally one for big epic sagas in my MM romances – I usually save that for my science-fiction and historical fantasies.
Nonetheless, this was a enjoyable book, although I feel that this is one of the types of books that I wouldn’t enjoy much reading as I did enjoy the audio narration. Andrew McFerrin is a wonderful narrator, and his tone and pace were absolutely on point for this.
The story is set in a spy agency called Scorpion, where Dayton Ingram, aka Day, wants nothing more than a chance to prove himself as a field agent. As it is he is a wicked technical analyst. Finally his chance has come and he is teamed up with Knighton, aka Knight. Knight is a true mystery, he was a former marine who subsequently became an alcoholic after the death of his family. Now that he has managed to become sober his boss has offered Knight one more chance to hold himself together in the field and get his job done. The problem is that Knight is not so good at communication, which frustrates Day to no end.
The two men are working a terrorist case in the Yucatan. They go undercover as a couple on a gay cruise. Which is all well good except for the fact they are both so deep in the closet that they are probably closer to Narnia than they are to accepting their individual sexualities.
The set up is good and the two have a complex chemistry. I’m not sure if you could call it a love hate type of thing, so I’m just going to stick to this being a complex relationship. And this is why the story is ongoing – Knight in particular has some pretty major demons to face. In fact, it’s not a stretch to begin to think that perhaps a relationship with Day is not the best thing for Knight now. However, despite falling into bed with each other, they need solve their case.
You need to be a fan of suspense or mystery to really like this story. The romance, such as it is, take more of a back seat to the constant battling of personal demons and terrorism. This isn’t a fairytale ending by any means, and I’m moving onto book 2 next to see what happens to Day and Knight. Both guys are likable, but at the same time they both need to work on their communication. The sexual chemistry and the suspense created by the terrorism plot line makes this an enjoyable read.

The closer they become, the harder it gets for Hayden to come clean. Something always seems to get in the way. When a company bankruptcy and a jilted, vindictive woman threatens to expose his charade, Hayden thinks it’s all gone down the drain. Luckily, Neal is ready with some innocent trickery of his own.
Review: Elizabeth Noble is relatively new author to me, I think other than listening to the audio for this book some couple months ago, I’m not aware of any other of the author’s works. At least on the Dreamspinner Press website there are only three works available and one of them won’t be out until December. Regardless, first off I’m going to say that this is one of those books which I found more enjoyable as an ebook as opposed to listening to the audio. I can’t put a finger on the reason why, but there you have it.
Admittedly, the plot rather simple and predictable. It’s one of those types of books that I recommend for people who want something easy and relaxing but don’t expect too much in terms of literary excellence. It’s a great book to just relax and escape with. I read a very intense book last night which I absolutely adored, even though the emotions were high I found this to be the perfect come down book after that experience.
High Test is a Cinderella – Cinderfella? – tale. Hayden Owens is struggling to get himself through college where he is a graduate student trying to complete his PhD. All he wants to do is graduate and design cars that are engineering works of art. When he is forced to attend college function, schmoozing with movers and shakers ready to donate Hayden meeting Neal Kirchner. Neal is older than Hayden but their connection is instant. When Hayden leaves at the end of the night so that he can get the last bus, he realizes too late that he forgot to get Neal’s number. This first night was the start of confusion that Hayden finds too hard to get the courage to admit to Neal that he doesn’t come from a rich family. This is the main plot of the book and while there is some angst and drama, it’s a mild and simple book.
As a side note one thing that I really liked here was that Hayden was a PhD candidate (only directly referenced once or twice) and despite this his intelligence was put right to the background of the whole story. From experience, I know that we do tend to be completely obsessed with our work, but the whole antisocial nerd is a tired stereotype. The other thing that I really liked that while this would be classed as a May-December plot, the whole age difference is only referred to a couple times. I also find the whole age gap thing a bit tiresome, especially when a big is made about age gaps few than ten years. Admittedly this is a larger age gap, but I was all for the romance.
This is a simple, fun and sweet romance, as I said before, it’s a bit of a Cinderella story and if that’s your thing, go for it.

Logan has no idea that Kit isn’t quite like other men until their passion results in unexpected consequences. Now he must choose between his mission and the two men who have given him everything he has ever wanted, as well as things he never dreamed of.
Review: I wanted to love this book but for all the needless sex scenes regarding Kit needing semen I would have. There were too many sex scenes for my tastes. But Logan and Halor were interesting in the grand scheme of things. I loved the way these men made plan and set them in motion to save Logan and the people he feels responsible for.
I wished there more about Kit besides his sexual needs. I would have loved to know more about him as the story progressed. I did however enjoy the actual story and how the rescue plans were made and set in motion.
This is a story I would have normally fell into and enjoyed but the overabundance of sex and the lack of details regarding Kit threw me out of the story. It made it difficult to reconnect with the characters near the end.

Review: Each book in the Eternal Flame collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order. This series is connected to Eternal Flames: Maddox and the Kaliss series.
Shadow has spent most of his time in the military, not only the present one either. For over a hundred years or more, he has served in one place or another. He had been almost killed by his father when he was found with another man, then the ones who took him in told him it was time for him to leave. He had been abandoned so many times he lost count. His soul was darkened by what he had done even if it was for the good guys. Then he found a new family in a goup of men he served with until someone set out to kill them. So when he finds his mate, he does the one thing to protect his heart, he runs.
Deja was two years old when a band of gypsies found him and took him in. His brothers might not be of blood but they were still his brothers. One of his brothers was injured and he just wanted to help him, so he did what he was good at, he sang to him. Then he saw a man staring at him, and somehow knew this man was his. You see Shadow is a panther shifter and Deja is human, or so he thinks. Poor guy is in for more shocks real soon.
Someone is out to get Deja and you know what a fierce panther can do to prey, just wait and see. We don’t really see these two together much in the book till later on, and somehow the authors just work it right. This is one of those books that will be read more than once or even a dozen times. It captivated me from the get go and lets just say I have just finished reading it for the second time. It doesn’t really pull at me as some of the others in this series does, but it still gives me an excellent read. It gave me everything I could ask for in a story such as excitement, action, danger and some hot sexy times.
I absolutely loved this book and can not wait to get my hands on the next story. I would definitely recommend this book as well as the ones that are connected to it. Trust me you will fall in love with them as I did.

Review: Sky is my favorite character in the series. He is opinionated, snarky and all around sarcastic. When Hardy and Sky come to a head in an argument the goddess Selene has had enough of the bickering and sends the three mates away from the others with none of their shifter abilities.
I found it intriguing that Emry and Hardy had to learn to rely on their human selfs instead of relying on their abilities to help. Sky was used to this already. The surprise visitor and his revelations took me by surprise.
Intriguing read and a great addition to the series.

Review: Nathan has had one hell of a life and not a good one. His mother was Indian and his father was Australian. Her parents had wanted her to marry someone from another family and when she got pregnant with Nathan they pretty much disowned her. She ended up marring the man that got her pregnant and lets just say he used his fists. He was an alcoholic who took his anger out on her and Nathan. Then he was caught with a man, you can guess what happened. He headed to Kolar Creek to stay with his aunt and cousin. They were as bad as his dad. He chose to go to work with the Rural Fire Brigade, but it would seem that the man who was to show him what to do, didn’t care for him, or so he thought.
Zech had had a nasty father as well and ended up leaving. After a disastrous marriage he just stuck around with friends with benefits, but he was not gay. That is his way of thought when he met Nathan, but his thoughts turned into a different direction slowly after. However things do not always go as one plans.
First off this story had a great direction but didn’t go in the way that would have made it top notch. The anger and violence in this story just took it to a different level. Nathan had what it took to fight fires but then the way the author wrote about him made him come off weak, to weak to fight fires. It was like a crossroads and the author didn’t know which way to take it. Now this author was new to me so I wasn’t really sure what I was getting into. So I put it off a bit longer then I should. The characters rocked pretty much, but there were certain spots that I didn’t care for at all.
I am sorry to say that this book just didn’t make the cut for me. I have a rule though, that with new authors always give their second books a chance, so that is what I would do. However I do hope that the next characters are not so broken and put back together without being true. You can’t just jump from one way to another way to fast, it just doesn’t make it believable. So far I don’t really care for this book and can guarantee that it will not be read more than once.

Review: This is a culmination of the previous two books. Angus, Terrance and Saka are fighting to keep the worlds from being destroyed. It’s a journey into finding out what they are capable of and the reason they are slowly driven to be together at times.
I loved everything about the book. From Angus’ life and what he discovers to Saka and his fight with his own feelings as well as the struggle the three face throughout. It was a well written thought out story that immerses the reader in an awesome series.
I do not want to give away to much so I’ll leave my review with saying it was a great journey.

Liam left his home and his family back where he was from when he went pro. It was the life of a pro sports player. When out at the beach he has noticed the hottest man guarding the beach and swimmers. When he runs into him once more, he is left with a need to breathe. The sparks fly between them and damn if it doesn’t get hotter.
Matty seems to be the perfect man for him and has the same heated feelings for Liam. He brings the poor man into his group of friends and they are a quirky group. They seem to have more drama then one person should have.
I have never been a fan of sports or reading about them so I wasn’t really sure what to expect. However this story seemed more focus on everyone else and the sports then the actual growing relationship between the two men. Although it was not as much about sports as I would have expected though. So that part was kind of a nice change. It is a very slow paced story with a slow burn. It didn’t really have a lot of depth that one would expect to a story. I did like the kittens though. I didn’t really understand some of the words that was used, but after a bit of looking it up figured it out.
I have read a few stories by these authors and have always loved their books. However I hate to admit that I wasn’t drawn into this book like I should have been. It just didn’t call to me and keep my attention. It is a very cute story and the characters were enjoyable. I would have liked more about them then their friends, but it was still sweet. I just didn’t really care for it and am not sure if I would continue this series or not. We will see on that.

Review:I was looking forward to reading the Spy’s Love Story for two reasons. One is that I have discovered that I really enjoy Kim Fielding’s books. The writing style is easy for me to connect to and I find a majority of Fielding’s characters both relatable and entertaining, at least on some level. The other reason I was drawn to and looking forward to reading the book is completely shallow – I don’t normally make a comment on the front cover but for me this book’s cover was… well in a word, hot. Basically, red/auburn haired men are completely my type, so the cover model hooked me when I saw the cover on the Dreamspinner website. I like to think I’m rational, but I can be as fickle as the next person, I suppose.
Right. So. Onto the story.
For me this book is a mix between The Cold War (in the style of The Man from UNCLE) and the Seth Rogen/James Franco movie The Interview. These were the movies/television that became my pop culture reference for the book, so if you don’t know what I’m talking about you could also think gay James Bond with a spoiled Rockstar and hot sexual tension. If a pseudo-James Bond minus the Bond girls is your thing in a romance this book will probably go for this one.
As I said, we have a spy and a Rockstar.
Jaxon Powers transformed his life and moved to the big city to try to make his big break after his parents took his coming out badly. In fact, he hasn’t spoken to them in years. But now he has made it big and a big name. He’s doing world tours, recording albums, and basically living the sex, drugs and rock n’ roll life style. He is a spoiled, bored and jaded celebrity. Then one days he gets what has to be the strangest request. Apparently, the dictator of some eastern European country is a massive fan of his and requests that Jaxon fly over to perform a couple shows. The US State Department see this as the perfect opportunity to see into the country Vasnytia and get some intelligence. Vasnytia is basically like North Korea/USSR.
This is were Secret Agent Reid Stanfil comes in. He is all that is awesome and the embodiment of a secret agent man: he’s ex-military, knows the local language, sexy as well and good to have when you’re in a spot of trouble. He accompanies Jaxon to Vasnytia and goes to all lengths to ensure the man’s safety, as well as conduct any secret agent type business. They have an instant connection, but Reid is well aware of the dangers of giving into his base desires. However, things go awry, to put it nicely, and when the guys are running for their lives the last thing they have time for is to give into their feelings.
I enjoyed the book, though I kept thinking back to the movie The Interview more often than not. I really liked the two characters together and I like that they didn’t have sex in stupid places at ridiculous times although they had a good chemistry. I’ll admit that the chemistry was a little flat at the beginning, but I got on board by the end of the story.
