Blurb: Surviving the devastation of DarkFall, Timorn is now rightful King of Faerie. With evil lurking at the fringes between the kingdoms of the humans and the elves, the dark mage Dalannin travels to Dragonreise to forge an alliance with the Dragon King. Timorn’s travelling party sets off on request from an elven emissary but dissent grows as the party passes through the human city of Ekhrine. As they stop at the Ecclesiastical University where the cleric Kabal translated The Legend of Arden prophesy, a demonic aura haunts their path. Can Timorn forge an alliance with the dragons to ensure peace or will darkness drive a wedge between him and his magical twin Ethesian as they journey through the elven lands.
Review: Timorn is having trouble with his being king but an emissary unexpectedly shows up wanting Timorn and his group to come with him to the dragon King. Meanwhile Dalannin travels toward the same goal as Timorn. I liked the different POV’s throughout this adventurous story.
The path is fraught with danger around every corner. An interesting mix of characters are inter-spaced throughout this magical and highly engaging book. I loved everything about the story as it progressed further.
Timorn and his sister are at odds with one another due to Timorn and it shows in the way they interact with one another at times. Seih a captain of the dragon militia and the half dragon proves his worth over and over again and takes his duties seriously.
There is a lot that happens along the journey both good and bad. I was on the edge of my seat at times awaiting the outcome.
Blurb: Gracen Robicheaux felt his petition to fight for the beta position of the Stone Ridge, Colorado wolf shifter pack was a sign from the gods. After over two hundred years, he could finally openly express his desire for a male mate. When Gracen runs into the human Lance Coracans, he changes his opinion. The gods are laughing at him. His worst fear has come to pass—kids. Lance has a very young daughter for whom he’s fighting for custody. Still, Gracen reminds himself that Lance is his mate. Embracing change will be worth it. However, between an injured babysitter, a sick daughter, and pack challenges, their missed and rescheduled dates are piling up. Can Gracen convince Lance that he really is serious? Or will finding out he’s a wolf shifter be the straw that sends Lance running?
Review: Each book in the Wolves of Stone Ridge collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order. This series started it but there are many branch offs that are connected to this particular series.
Gracen has found his mate, a mate that not only is not gay but has a child. He also has no clue that Gracen is a wolf shifter, I would say his eyes are about to be opened wide.
Lance actually knows a few of those Gracen hangs out with but has no clue that half of them are shifters of one kind or another. He is a sexy dad who just wants to keep custody of his two year old daughter.
I had expected a bit more trouble from the ex, it went as expected. I have always loved these stories but there are no more surprises to be found in them. I was hoping for a fresh idea to show up but even then these stories are still pretty amazing. I love how the characters just feel around each other. I didn’t really catch a connection through the kid and Gracen though. There just needed something to make it all come together and I didn’t get that. It just felt a bit stiff.
Other than those issues I still had a blast reading this and can’t wait to see what the next book by this author will be about.
Blurb:Davis~ It was just another job—at least it was supposed to be—but snaring the feisty blue dragon I’d been contracted to collect and her rider in my trap changed everything. Hunting dragons was my job, and I was damn good at it. I’d never missed a target. Never failed to make a delivery. So why was every step toward turning over my bounty suddenly a struggle? No quarry had ever managed to get under my skin, but something in Zale’s haunting blue eyes called to me like nothing ever had before.
Zale~ When Itsaso and I were kidnapped, we fought like hell but found ourselves at the dragon hunter’s mercy. He locked my dragon away, leaving me to face captivity alone. Now, all I have to rely on is the training that’s been drilled into me every day for as long as I can remember and biding my time, waiting for Davis to make a mistake. Or my brothers to find and rescue us. But something happened the first time I truly looked in Davis’s eyes, dark pools as deep and enchanting as the sea, and I realized I was in so much more danger than I thought. How could a ruthless dragon hunter be my perfect mate?
Zale is the second book in The Brotherhood of Ormarr series. While each book focuses on a different couple, the overall story arc continues in the next installment. For maximum enjoyment, we suggest reading in order. Zale is a m/m romance, and is recommended for adults 18 years and older.
Review: Davis is from a clan outside the Brotherhood of Ormarr, a clan who is determined to stop the wraiths and the people who lead them. Ordered to capture a man and his dragon caught on film leading a wraith attack Davis accepts the mission with glee, but the man he kidnaps is tempting in a way that Davis can’t resist no matter how hard he tries.
Zale is enjoying some peace with his dragon Saso when he’s captured and Saso bound to his arm, all Zale can think about is that the Order has captured him. But as time passes he finally discovers why he’s been caught… and it leaves him astounded. His captor may be his mate but Zale won’t let that stop him from escape.
This is an excellent addition to The Brotherhood of Ormarr series. We rejoin the Ormarr brothers with Zale’s story and boy is it a doozy. Zale is kinda lonely, wishing he has what his older brother Azaran has but what he gets is kidnapped and told that he has to answer for his crimes. Davis longs for something long lost and when he’s tasked to bring in a dragon rider who has betrayed his own kind Davis is determined to make him pay.
Now as you know the bond between mates is strong but both Zale and Davis fight it as they view each other as the enemy, but it does help them to listen to each other and get to the bottom of the problem.
This is an excellent story that progresses far quicker that the first book Azaran, in Azaran we were given the background and history and now in Zale the overall ARC of the storyline is more fleshed out, progressing very quickly to the next step but not giving away any secrets, so there’s still much to look forward to in the series concerning the overall ARC.
Zale’s story has him finding his mate but gives him challenges to overcome, Davis isn’t just a filler character either he has his own devastating background but he also has a shocking discovery which leads to an astounding scene that greatly pleases. Now as a couple they are fantastic, they overcome their rocky beginning are hot together but don’t rush things between them. It’s a nicely paced relationship (well for fated mates anyway LOL)
Michelle Frost has written an interesting and exciting story that flows beautifully and keeps you turning the pages. It has excitement and a dash of danger, with a great storyline that expands on the series ARC whetting your appetite for more. An excellent read for anyone who loves paranormal romance.
Blurb: When Francis’s boss calls asking him for a favor, Francis reluctantly goes to Callahan Covetti’s mansion to cut the guy’s hair. What Francis didn’t expect was to fall in lust with Cal. But they’re not alone in their struggle to survive, and soon Cal and Francis find out that they have to fight for the happiness they so desperately want together.
Review: Each book in the Brac Village. collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order. This series is a cut off from Brac Pack and I would suggest starting with that series first. It is also connected with several other series as well.
Francis owed Haven so he heads over to cut some guys hair and damn if the man was walking sin. To bad he was trying to get that asshat of an ex out of his head, the damn man dumped him the night before. Then the sexy as sin shows up at his house shot up, well he was in for a big surprise. Cal has been raised to run the business his grandfather had. To bad for the old fart, he had no interest running weapons. He just wanted to run the normal, every day, legal side of the business. When his normal hair stylist couldn’t make it, he couldn’t believe it when his mate walks in instead. He had no clue how to keep them both safe and just wait for the surprise to show up.
It pretty much followed a direct path as the other stories in this series had. Humor, ok lets face it they are funny as hell, danger, excitement, action packed and not to mention some hot sexy times are all rolled into this story. The characters are quite quirky and will definitely have your head in the clouds. The down side is it felt a little rushed to me. It was very entertaining as one would expect in Lynn Hagen’s books.
I had a blast reading this and can guarantee that it will be read many times over. I can’t wait to see what the next book has going on.
Blurb: A human cleric translating an elfin prophesy must bring the work to the high court at Kannon in faerie before DarkFall, the solemn anniversary when all the male newborns were murdered seventeen years ago. The evil Valkyris is amassing an army to attack Kannon at DarkFall, insisting she possesses the prophecy. Sending her dark mage Dalannin to infiltrate the faerie, he marches his demon hordes toward Kannon and sneaks into the palace. Ethesian, the seventeen year old faerie daughter of King Ailon, plays the dragon lyre, a female magic. Yet recently, she has started having prophetic dreams as if she were male. When a lie is revealed, Ethesian is tasked to study magic she must master before DarkFall. Will Timorn reach Kannon before the Valkyris, and Ethesian master a magic she shouldnt possess? Secrets and lies, revelations and wizardry, DarkFall is coming and so is the reluctant faerie who would be king. Learn more in the first book of the dark fantasy trilogy, The Seer of Grace and Fire.
Review: Several characters are tasked with specific tasks to a stop an event from happening. Kabal, Timorn, Ihal, Ishika and Ethesian finally meet and begin to get to know one another as well as see about the skills each have. I found they all worked well together when the time came but before that it seemed a little tense at times.
It was a long and intriguing story that had me enthralled. Yet there did not seem to be any real emotions. But then again with the task ahead of them I understood. All the characters throughout the story both good and bad brought the story to life.
I was intrigue by the plot and the roles each character had to play. Interesting and intriguing this book was a great beginning to the series. I am looking forward to seeing what happens next.
Blurb: Justice Volkov is the youngest Alpha Zenith to ever lead the wolf shifters. Following in his father’s large paw prints was a responsibility he met head on. Now at age thirty-three, he is alpha of the alphas. As a direct descendant of the original Siberian pack, his wolf is bigger and stronger than Justice himself is sometimes able to control.
His wolf howled long and hard but Justice kept it inside. It felt like a bass drum beating against his rib cage. The harsh breaths, angry snarls, and the determined pacing inside him were overtaking him.
Justice takes his role of leadership and his legacy very seriously. He has little time for romance, not to mention a true mate. His packs are his priority. With a human government trying to regulate them, an uprising of rogue shifters, and a violent team of scientists trying to experiment on them, Justice has his hands way too full.
Chadwick ‘Wick’ Bentley is not enthusiastic when the captain of his escort tells him he has to leave his comfortable London home and go back to the States. As the Vampire King, he has no choice but to get his species back in line before they cause any more chaos. At over one hundred years old, Wick is no one to trifle with, but his smooth, charismatic manner makes him quite unique, despite the negative reputation vampires have. Wick has had nothing but time up to this point. He doesn’t feel the need to make issues pressing. Nothing is urgent in his life. Until he meets Justice. His beloved.
‘Natural enemies can’t be mates.’ Or so Justice thought. He knows his skepticism and rejection is hurting his mate, so while he fights their connection, Wick gets help from a source very close to Justice to help him win his beloved’s heart. Wick is a force all on his own, but when he’s blessed with a special gift from the Mother herself, not even Justice’s powerful wolf can prevent the prophesy from being fulfilled.
Review: When I was given A.E. Via’s Prophesy I didn’t know what to expect. I think I may have heard of the author before, but I’ve never read or heard any of their books in the past. However, I do love me a good shifter/vampire romance, and that made me keen to get through this.
The book starts when we meet Justice Volkov, the Alpha Zenith, i.e. the alpha of all alphas, for the wolf shape shifters. He is a powerful man, despite being only in his early thirties, and his wolf is just as powerful and just as formidable as the man. He doesn’t want to be weak and he wants to lead by example, so when it seems that shifters are causing issues, he wants to get straight into action to fix the problem. His wolf is almost uncontrollable when he meets and rejects his true mate. Justice feels like he has a lot of things to do before he can settle down with a mate, let alone his true mate. It just makes it worse in his human mind that his true mate is the king of the vampires. His wolf longs for his mate, even if the human struggles at first.
Chadwick Bentley, aka Wick, is the king of the vampires. He’s over one hundred years old. With the violence between the wolves and the vampires increasing, he is forced to go to America from his home base in England to deal with the situation personally. That is how he meets his beloved, his mate, and things do not go well at first. On top of this, Wick’s always known that he was different, other than being the king of the vampires, but it seems that his mating opens a whole can of worms. These guys have to work together to get their relationship on an even keel, as well as figure out what the heck is happening in the paranormal world and the new dangers arising that they have to deal with as a team.
Justice and Chadwick are a wonderful couple with explosive chemistry. Even though I didn’t know what to expect, I don’t think I expected the great character development of both the guys, despite the true mate situation usually meaning that we are getting an insta-love storyline. But there were plenty of struggles and that was awesome. I feel that also there was a definite difference shown in the age gap between the two men, because Wick showed a lot more maturity and poise than Justice. Although I’m sure if this is meant to be a product of their ages or of their species. Regardless, I liked it because you got to see them both “grow up” in different ways.
The audio performance by Nathaniel Black was sublime. Nathaniel Black does something that many narrators have trouble with, a credible accent for any foreign main character that didn’t take me a good ten minutes to get used of a slightly off accent. Let’s face it, going between American and English accents, as in the case of this book, can be odd. Beyond brilliant accents, Black also provided the perfect tone and timbre required for the tough and violent world of shape shifters and vampires in a world where interspecies relations is on the cusp of something big and catastrophic.
This was a surprisingly awesome read for me. This is great for people that love a shifter romance, although I felt that there is touch more depth, angst and darkness than some of the books out there, it’s definitely one of the better paranormal/shape shifter romances I’ve recently read. Since we already know the couple of the second book, I’m keen to find out what happens there too.
Blurb: Oilman Max inherits a passel of trouble when his boss passes away and leaves him a house in England, a family full of squabbles, and a heck of a lot of money. He’s thinking London is the worst place on earth… until he meets Morgan.
Colorful, carefree, and a little crazy, Morgan is just what Max needs, and the two set out on the adventure of a lifetime, chasing pleasure wherever it takes them, learning that together they can make anything fun… and sexy.
Too bad reality has to set in, and Morgan’s multimillionaire father has a lot to say about what reality looks like. Will their different worlds conspire to separate them like oil and water?
Second Edition First Edition published by Torquere Press, 2006.
Review: This was an interesting experience for me.
Oil and Water is the first book in BA Tortuga’s Wildcatters series, originally published in 2006 by Torquere Press and second edition published by Dreamspinner in 2019. Over the past year I have found a great appreciation for Tortuga’s writing, although there was part of me that was sure I had read stuff from the author by Torquere Press in the past (before finding Dreamspinner Press authors, I read a lot of Torquere Press). It was something that niggled at me although I had found that I loved pretty much everything I’ve read by Tortuga released by Dreamspinner. Which made it interesting. I have now had the epiphany that while I love Tortuga’s recent stuff, I struggled with her earlier stuff (i.e. the books published by Torquere press).
The story is about Max and Morgan, who are both obscenely rich which is what makes the stories and its numerous settings possible. Max is the Oilman of the story; he’s inherited land in England and has had to travel over the pond to deal with the issues surround his new inheritance. He’s a fish out of water and doesn’t belong in England. But things look up when he meets Morgan. Morgan is laid back and his carefree lifestyle is funded by his millionaire father. He is all about where the next adventure takes him and is a breath of fresh air into Max’s more structured life. As soon as they meet each other the crazy whirlwind of adventure takes off. The guys travel together, having sex in just about every location, until Morgan’s father brings reality crashing down. Apparently, you can’t live a carefree, adventurous life forever. Now Max and Morgan have to figure out where their next adventure together takes them.
After reading Oil and Water I’m now sure that the massive change in my interest in Tortuga’s writing was the style itself back over ten years ago. While I enjoyed the story and despite being well written, I found it difficult to connect to and get really stuck into the story and the pace was too slow. In the end it boiled down to that I feel that this was a story of a couple of spoiled men just bumming around, travelling and having sex.

Davis – It was just another job—at least it was supposed to be—but snaring the feisty blue dragon I’d been contracted to collect and her rider in my trap changed everything. Blurb: Davo’s a pretty average guy. He has a decent job, owns his own home, and spends his week-ends at the pub. He fully accepts that he’s gay, but doesn’t want to be one of those gays who are girly. He likes football and other masculine pursuits, and firmly avoids anything that could be seen as femme – including relationships that last beyond 15 minutes.
Then Davo’s friend and gay idol not only gets a boyfriend, but also adopts a baby girl. Davo is seriously spooked and scuttles down to the pub. That’s where he meets Lee, cute from her cherry-red hair to her pretty little dress and pointy red shoes. Davo is charmed – but how is that possible? He’s gay. Isn’t he? Then Lee tells him he’s actually a guy – he just likes to wear women’s dresses occasionally. Thoroughly confused about an attraction that’s out of character for him, Davo begins the long journey to where he can accept himself without caring what everyone else thinks.
Review: Renae Kaye is a new author for me, which is surprising because I love to check out Australian MM authors, so no idea why it took me so long to get onto the band wagon. You Are the Reason is the first book in Kaye’s series, The Tav, a series that I’m interested in reading more of. This is a really awesome book where the MCs grow a lot as they become closer. The evolution of the characters was really the highlight of this book, although an Australian romance that isn’t based in Sydney (NSW), Melbourne (Vic) or on a farm (this one is based in Perth, Western Australia) is another highlight and refreshing.
The only issue I had was the narration. Dave Gillies, a new narrator for me, did a pretty damn good job and really providing the right tones for the characters throughout the book. My issue was the accent. I realise that narrators can’t always do a perfect accent and I know Australian accents are notoriously tricky (see how many times Hollywood manages to completely butcher the accent). However, there were times where the accent was just… not right. I think if you’re not Australian, the performance is all well and good, but for an Australian, I found it a little annoying at times.
Davo is your typical Aussie larrikan, right down to his name. He’s out and proud, has a good job, own’s his own home (a sure sign that this isn’t based in the eastern states! Haha!) and has some great family and friends. To add to the Aussie bloke persona, there are some lengthy discussions of Aussie Rules football. I think the explanations are easy enough to understand some of the rules, but I’ve gone read plenty of American football romances and ice hockey romances and I got no idea any of the rules of those games. Not that this is an important thing beyond the fact that Davo is a footy fan (I’m an Aussie that does not like AFL or NRL so it kinda makes me roll my eyes because not everyone is obsessed with football). Meeting Lee at a bar changes his entire world. Especially when he initially fears that he is a gay man attracted to a woman, when in fact Lee is a gay man who likes to occasionally dress in women’s clothing.
This is a really fascinating book. There is a brief discussion of trans people, especially when it’s clear that Davo really doesn’t understand the difference between transgender and transvestite (? I’m not sure if that’s the right wording and please do not be offended if I have got this wrong, I do not mean anything negative to anyone). It really digs a bit into the issues faced by the trans community from within the LGBTQI community. Another really important theme that makes up a majority of the book is the whole “Aussie bloke” and “don’t be fairy gay” and similar phrases that come up, particularly in Australia. I really enjoyed Davo’s storyline, finding out what made him think “it’s ok to be gay, as long as I don’t act like a girl” despite his supportive family and learning to overcome these thoughts as he grows closer to Lee. Lee is a refreshing character and totally wonderful, he has all the patience and love in the world and he is exactly what Davo needs!
Blurb: Unwilling to be his mates dirty little secret any longer, Sutton walks away, telling Casimir he’s done.
Casimir refuses to believe that Sutton could just leave him like that and thinks Sut only needs a few days to cool off. However when reality sets in Casimir realizes he has made a terrible mistake, when Sutton refuses to talk to him or even look in his direction.
When Sutton goes out on a rescue call to a local mine there is a cave in which leaves Sutton trapped with four other men in desperate need of medical attention. Casimir practically goes insane trying to get his man out alive. When the threat of losing Sutton for good hits Casimir, he promises not only to himself but to his mate, that he will do whatever he has to do to make things up to Sutton and win him back. He can only hope that if Sutton survives, that he will be willing to give Casimir one more chance, because the alternative is just too devastating to consider.
Review: Each book in the Eternal Flames Maddox collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order. This story is connected to Eternal Flame as well as a couple others.
Casimir lost his wife and his parents to the war along time ago. In fact they had though that the dragons and phoenix’s. He thought it was just his luck to loose all he loved. When they found out that several survived including his brother he was jolted in surprise. Then to find out that his wife had left him with two sons, he was terrified. Then to find out he had a mate, he just thought he would loose them all, so he kept his distance. Then Sut is trapped in a cave in and well he let his heart rule.
Sut had given his heart to Cas but feared that it was all a dream. To be his dirty little secret, well to hell with that, Sut was giving up. Then when the world tilted and he was stuck in a cave, well the voice of his mate kept him sane. However fear still came forward not knowing what to expect from Cas.
First off this was probably the best book out of the whole series and that was saying something, cause this series rocked. I was reading and got to the point of Cas singing, and went and put on the song. So imagine the story going around in your head while the song is playing just made the story stand out even more. I felt for Sut and was glad that Casimir got his head out of his ass, but damn the ending was funny as hell. Who knew fate had a twisted sense of humor.
I had a blast reading this and can guarantee that it is one of those types of stories that will be read many times over. I can’t wait to read the next book. I would definitely recommend this book and the others connected to it.
Blurb: Emperor Chrysander Draconis rules not only the dragons but the entire Council of Sorcery and Shifters. From the moment Fate selected him, he has devoted himself to ensuring his people thrive and prosper. His life revolves around duty; nothing stands in the way of his dedication to his job. One of the most prominent issues on Chrysander’s plate is the lack of hybrid drakelings that have survived the road from man to beast. When he receives word that one such rare soul is living in an obscure tribe, he races to help.
Ellery of the Fen-Lynthi elves is different from the rest of his people. He does not understand why his ears are shorter, why he stands taller than the others. Then his mother explains why the other children mock him and call him a mongrel: his father, a dragon, abandoned her the moment he learned of Ellery’s impending birth. With his mother’s often-fragile mental state, Ellery does not know if he can trust her words, but they are all he has. He spends his days ostracized, doing what he can to improve his lot.
Chrysander is overjoyed to find his mate among the Fen-Lynthi, but when it is confirmed that Ellery is half dragon, he is terrified Ellery will be ripped apart by the beast inside him. Regardless, Chrysander proceeds with their matebond ceremony, though he delays the event, believing duty demands they bypass elven tradition. This troubles Ellery, and he wonders if moving forward is what Chrysander truly wants. Their schedules present them with little opportunity to spend time together, which gives him further cause for worry. If that isn’t enough, Ellery is apprehensive over his new role as emperor. Chrysander and Ellery must confront their fears and learn to face the world as a united and loving front. In doing so, not only will they be able to defy the impossible, but they will change the world.
Review: I loved this story. Chrysander finally gets his story and meets his mate Ellery. However he his duties get in the way of their mating but Ellery just takes it in stride. These two needed to talk to another. They only seemed to catch snatches of time with each other in between meetings, shopping, etc. I really felt for Ellery but Ellery soon finds a best friend and a champion in Tiri, Zane’s mate.
I have to admit to Tiri stealing my heart in this book. I was incensed at the way his chieftain treated his people. I do hope they can save those left behind. Tiri was smart, stubborn, sarcastic and generally a happy person. I really loved how the author wove the story around these couples with all the twists and turns that were revealed the story flowed off the page. I really enjoyed the tension, the mystery and suspense that revolved around the group for one thing or another.
I have to admit to not caring for Wesley in this addition. I think he let his job go to his head and assumed everyone would just do what he said. I especially didn’t care for the things he said about Ellery or Tiri. But, I have all ideas he is about to find out what happens when you mess with dragons mates if the plan he devised at the end of the book follows through.
This series just keeps getting better and better with each new book. I am in awe of how well the story is told and the characters that are involved with each new thrilling read. My favorite series to date.
I was stalking my mate and I had good reason. He was bonded to someone else, but that didn’t absolve me of my duty to him, or my obsession. Making sure he was happy and safe, even if it wasn’t with me, was just something I had to do. When I discovered he wasn’t, all bets were off.
Jojo
I’d given up the dream of a mate in exchange for the life of my son. It was an exchange I willingly gave to have Tommy with me. When our lives were threatened, escaping with Tommy was my only option. I just wasn’t sure where we were going to escape to or who could help us, but someone had to. I’d already lost my mate. I couldn’t lose my son.

Stalker met his mate around three years ago but let him go. That did not mean he forgot . In fact he basically stalked his mate and kept watch. Jojo had been forced to get married. He wanted to go with Stalker but there was his child on the way. When Myra died in child birth, he just couldn’t make a move. However when his father made another threat, his ass was out. Stalker is going to be a dad.
It is so hard to give a bit of description without giving the story away. Stormy Glenn has always been one of my favorite authors to read. This is probably one of my top series that I can guarantee will always be read many times over. FYI, Bob is still my favorite character. The story caught my attention from the start and kept it all the way to the end. I do wish there was a bit more action and danger to it, but it was still perfect for me. The characters are quite charming and lets just say their reaction to who the alpha is, is always a laugh. When I read these stories it almost makes me go out an buy a cat, I did say almost. Taking a cat for a walk at the park is always funny as hell.
I can honestly say that this story will be read many times over and I hope that it will always be that way. I had a blast reading this and damn the guys are just sexy. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book and would recommend reading the whole series.
Blurb: When young Roger Folsom attends a costume party thrown by friends for his twenty-fourth birthday he is immediately captivated by Marcus Verano, a handsome stranger masquerading as a vampire—except Marcus is the real thing.
Spirited away to the vampire’s mansion, Roger is introduced to a new life of unabashed luxury, fascinating stories—and hot sex. Everything is going just fine for Roger, until his new lover’s old enemies show up seeking revenge, and Roger’s blood.
Determined to save one another from the gruesome deaths planned for them, they embark on an adventure that takes them from the weirdness of West Hollywood to the wildness of a vampire’s castle in the hills of Rome.
Review: Rogers life changes forever when he meets Marcus, a centuries’ old vampire. The two hit it off immediately and learn about one another. Some of Marcus’ stories are sad in what he had been through. Amid their time together comes enemies from Marcus’ past that threaten to tear them apart.
I liked the actual story, it was engaging and quite entertaining. Roger was hilarious and sarcastic at times. The other characters throughout the book gave the story an added element to an already interesting story. However, I was annoyed by the fact that when Marcus and Roger would start talking eventually they would have sex before finishing the story they were telling. There was a lot of sex in this book.
I was also confused to the fact that Marcus said early in the story that D’Arcy was older than him but later in the book he claimed he was the older one so I was not sure which one was older. Aside from those things I enjoyed the story with it’s drama, action and suspense.
Blurb: Raise your wine glasses high to toast the men of Dahlonia while they discover the secret to happiness – LOVE.
Shine was over people thinking because he had a southern accent, and made moonshine, that he was a hillbilly redneck with no education. Sure, he occasionally liked to fuck with them and spout out his grandpappy’s sayings, like every dog should have a few fleas, but that didn’t make him dumber than a box of rocks. So, when he met a man who made his heart race and his mouth go dry with the thought of licking every inch of his body, then instantly put him down because he was making moonshine instead of wine, Shine dared him to try and drink with the big boys.
Montague knew better than to take the challenge to drink the moonshine Shine was offering, but he refused to be insulted by some hick from this small, backwater town. The fire that ignited in his stomach and burned a path up his throat, making him want to cry for his mommy, told him just how stupid he could be. Fucking pride. If Shine didn’t get that smirk off his face at Montague’s reaction to the battery acid he called alcohol, Montague was going to punch him in the mouth. Or kiss him. It was a tough call to make.
There is a fine line between love and hate, especially when alcohol is involved. Then again, it might take a little liquid courage to drop their defenses enough to discover their passion for each other.
Review: Each book in the Uncorked collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.
To me there is nothing better than a good romance between two sexy men. If those me just so happen to throw sparks off and have some humor going on, then the better. I came across this author some time ago and knew she was going to be one that I would follow. Her stories always have just a bit of conflict in them, lots of humor, hot sex and some good old fashion loving.
When people find out that Shine talks with a southern accent and deals with moonshine, they tend to throw him to the curb and call him a redneck hillbilly with no brains. That is what happens when he comes across Montague. The truth is, Shine is probably one of the smartest men around.
Montague has never really had a job, just a few part-time ones here and there. He has a job now as tour guide, but the creep he works for is asking for a bit more then our sexy man is willing to give. Now the first time Montague and Shine meet, it doesn’t go down so well. But he might be the only one willing to give Montague a full time job and help.
Sparks fly and so do the clothes when these two finally get it together. You mix that in with some powerful alcohol and we will see what happens with these two. Great story with likable characters. I always did get a kick out of this series, and definitely can’t wait to get my hands on the next one. But I will leave the drinking to those who can handle the crazy alcohol that Shine makes.
I was born a dragon rider. A member of the Brotherhood of Ormarr, son of Cadmar, and the eldest of four sons. I was raised to defend the innocent and protect the secret of the dragons, but when I was eighteen, my parents were brutally murdered and the training and care of my brothers fell to me. My entire adult life has been spent helping my brothers grow into the strong, brave dragon riders they were born to be. Now that the youngest of my brothers is close to adulthood, the last thing I need is someone else to worry about—someone else to be responsible for. If only the handsome doctor fate had chosen for my mate wasn’t so perfect for me.
Toby~
All I ever wanted was to help people, that’s why I became a doctor, but I quickly learned that modern medicine was more about the all-mighty dollar and less about saving lives. It wasn’t long before I was doubting my life choices. A vacation to the ocean was supposed to leave me refreshed and ready to get back to work, but instead, I found myself pulled into a world I never knew existed. A world where dragons are real, men fight like medieval warriors, and my soulmate has his very own bat cave. Azaran thinks the last thing he needs is a mate to worry about. Good thing I don’t need anyone to take care of me. My sexy dragon rider, on the other hand, needs someone to take care of him, and I think I’m just the man to do it.
Azaran is the first book in The Brotherhood of Ormarr series. While each book focuses on a different couple, the overall story arc continues in the next installment. For maximum enjoyment, we suggest reading in order. Azaran is a m/m romance, and is recommended for adults 18 years and older.
Review: Azaran raised his three brothers after the death of their parents, for ten years he’s been responsible for their education, training and welfare and teaching them to be the best dragon riders in the world. With his youngest brother just a year short of adulthood Azaran comes face to face with his mate, a mate he doesn’t want because another responsibility is the last thing he wants and he’s tired of having no choices.
Toby is a doctor who is sick and tired of having his hands tied by insurance companies, heading off for a two week holiday sounds amazing but what he discovers is the most amazing thing in the world. Meeting Azaran is a shock and finding out the truth about Azaran’s actions has Toby making life changing decisions, now he just needs to convince Azaran that he can take care of himself.
This is a great story that has an interesting background and intriguing characters.
Azaran had a lot thrown on his shoulders at the tender age of eighteen and that has hardened him to fate dictating his life. He isn’t happy at all to have found his mate in Toby; he’s resentful in fact and avoids Toby at all costs. It takes being taken to task by his younger brother for him to step up, and when he does the flames erupt.
Toby is very open to what he discovers and embraces his new future, while his relationship with Azaran is rocky at first Toby accepts that Azaran has had a lot of responsibilities that have worn him down but he’s confident that he can make Azaran his.
I enjoyed this story but I’ll be honest and say that there could have been more of the overall arc rather than just a hint of it because it seems like a very interesting story arc. In this story it’s more like an introduction of characters and history with a hint of where it’s going in the future. I mean don’t get me wrong I really did enjoy the story of Azaran and Toby and seeing how they made their relationship work, I liked seeing how their team worked as well but I think I was just expecting it to be a bit more, well, meatier.
The story is well written and the history of the dragons is very interesting, the sexy times between Azaran and Toby are fan yourself hot and their relationship is just a touch rocky (well once Azaran pull’s his head out of his arse). The interaction between the brothers is heart-warming and I can’t wait to read their stories.
I recommend this to those who love paranormal romances, tragic pasts, finding your place in the world, great characters, wonderful dragons and a interesting storyline.
Blurb: A happy ending worthy of a TV fantasy… in real life?
Ashland Wells is an actor of sci-fi cult fame but with little direction for the future, when handsome grad student Remy Beaumont lands in his lap at a fan convention. Remy is everything Ash ever wanted and wished he could be—including out and proud. For twelve hours they’re the best of friends. But the convention ends, and saying goodbye to Remy might be the biggest mistake Ash has ever made.
A few months later, they’re reunited on a new production—Ash as an actor, Remy a writer—and though Ash doesn’t plan to let him go twice, being with Remy means going public about being gay. He’s not sure that’s a risk he—or his career—can handle, no matter how great the temptation.
If only they could write themselves the romantic happily ever after they both need.
Review: Love Conventions is a fun, sweet romance by Morgan James. Morgan James is a new author to me, so I didn’t know what to expect, but I loved the look of the whole pop culture side of things, so I was keen to read the book based on that.
The MCs are Ashland Wells, actor who has a sci-fi following from a cult hit which had been axed. Ash is out of a job for now and isn’t sure where his career is going but is more than happy to attend fan conventions and meet with the people that love the character he created on the small screen. Then there is Remy Beaumont, he is a fan of Ash (or rather the TV show), he’s a grad student who is so close to becoming a writer in his own regard when the two meet. Remy literally runs into Ash and the guys have a lot of fun at the convention until the day ends and they inevitably part ways. Ash liked a lot of what he saw in Remy and he regretfully leaves things at that, because he isn’t out. The two meet again a couple months later when Remy gets his first job as a writer and Ash takes this as a sign to embrace his true self. He has to show Remy that he isn’t afraid to show the world who he is and to nurture the budding romance between them.
The whole pop culture side of things was absolutely my thing. Remy was dressed as The Doctor, from Doctor Who and Ash was in a show that gave me some serious Fire Fly vibes. It was really cool for me. Remy and Ash had a great connection and I really liked their story. For whatever reason I didn’t feel total love and adoration for them and think perhaps this is because there was something a little lacking in the character development department. However, I wouldn’t mind reading more from Morgan James in the future.
I recommend this book for people that love a sweet romance and if you’re into fan conventions and comic conventions and want to see this reflected in romance.

Blurb: Love never goes out of style.
Landry Bishop fled his tiny hometown and never looked back. Now his expertise in food, fashion, and décor has earned him all of Hollywood’s glittering perks. But with his husband deceased and his personal assistant retired, Landry has nobody to rely on—and no one to help him indulge his secret cravings.
Casual, plainspoken Jordan Stryker seems a dubious choice of a PA for someone as formal and self-controlled as Landry. Jordan’s questionable fashion sense and limited kitchen skills don’t exactly enhance his résumé. But as Landry soon realizes, Jordan has many attractive qualities too.
With a strong pull toward Jordan, new career opportunities on the horizon, and a persistent tug from family back home, Landry is in a quandary. He can advise others on how to make their lives special, but what should he do about his own?
Review: Redesigning Landry Bishop is the second book in Kim Fielding’s Stars of Peril series for Dreamspun Desires. In the past I’ve enjoyed a lot of Fielding’s stories, though while I can say that she is an author that I enjoy, I would be hard pressed to specifically name books, unfortunately. I have to admit that I had to go back and check which was the first book in this series and if I had read it – which I did (The Spy’s Love Song), one that I enjoyed well enough for the reading but I think I much preferred the audio (but that’s a review for another time).
You don’t need to have read the first book in the series, both books act as standalone books, about men from the small town of Peril who became famous in their respective industries. Except for brief mentions in both books about “the other famous guy from Peril” there are no other solid links between the two.
Landry Bishop fled the small town where he grew up for the glittering lights of LA, where he has eventually become a style, food and home décor guru catering to the rich and famous, as well as making appearances on day time TV. He is essentially Karamo, Bobby and Antoni from the new Queer Eye all rolled into one package. However, at the moment life is a little stale and part of that is because his husband had died a couple years earlier which is he hasn’t quite yet taken the final step in grieving, coming to grips and moving on. But hey, everyone mourns different. It was a complicated relationship but it was a happy one. But now Landry is losing his beloved PA and needs a new one. His PA chose her replacement in her sister’s brother in law (or something as complicated as that) and Landry is trying to avoid the new changes in his life at every turn.
Jordan Stryker needs a job and is given the opportunity of a lifetime, although he isn’t about the glitz and glamour of LA and is a really down to earth sort of guy. This makes him perfect as Landry’s PA, as soon as Landry gets used to that, but it also makes him perfect as Landry’s love interest because these are the qualities that Landry absolutely needs in his life. Jordan is also quite funny because he is so different to Landry, he can’t cook, he can’t choose an outfit to save his life and that keeps Landry on his toes. When things turn romantic a whole new world opens up for both guys as they adjust to the changes in their lives and learn how they can be together in this crazy world.
This is a super sweet romance, with a sprinkling of small town roots and a sprinkling of celebrity, it is the classic boss falls for assistant type book, and if that’s your thing, you will not be disappointed at all.
Blurb:Cute hipster and interior designer Michael doesn’t do love – not after his ex screwed him over. Sex is a different story, though, and the gentle giant who’s painting the mural in the old mansion they’re restoring might be perfect hookup material. Gil is just Michael’s type with his solid mus-cle, wicked sense of humor, and the hazel eyes that seem to see into Michael’s soul.
Trouble is, Gil does do love. He wants romance and forever, and he’s set his sights firmly on Michael. Michael’s not going there again.
Yet when Michael is the victim of a vandal who’s been plaguing the men working for Delta Res-toration, Renovation, and Design, Gil is the first person he tells. No matter how he fights it, it’s becoming harder and harder to deny he’s crazy about the guy – even if that thought terrifies him. But the true fear sets in when the criminal behavior escalates, and Michael realizes he might have lost the chance to tell Gil how he feels – forever.
Review:Michael, Reinvented is the second book in Diana Copland’s Delta Restorations series. I accidently started listening to the audio of this book first, and then listened to the audio of the first book after, but that in no way took away from my enjoyment of the book. I love the characters, main and minor characters alike, and their depth, they are well developed without being outrageously complicated. On top of that, I love the chemistry between the main characters without being a case of insta-love or saturating the story with angst. Instead Michael and Gil’s story is a sweet romance between two strong men.
Michael and Gil appeared in book one, Gil’s interest in Michael was clear from the start. Michael is the best friend of David from book one, who is also his personal assistant at the job they worked at until the new restoration business takes off, which emphasises ties to the LBGTQI+ community and professionals. Gil is one of the workers, he’s a house painter with a hidden talent (at least to Michael) for creating beautiful works of art. Gil is a kind hearted man and is kindness and gentleness personified.
However, equally as clear was the fact that Michael is a soft-hearted romantic who firmly believes that love or a happily ever after is something that would never happen to him. Michael needs to get over his baggage and his reservations about relationships and when a sinister plot that leaves Gil severely injured emerges, Michael’s heart catches up to what his brain had already figured out.
Delta Restorations is a series that I sincerely hope that there are more stories (well, at least one other story because I would love to have a HEA for at least a couple of the guys on the restoration crew).
