An elegant werewolf in Edinburgh…
Lindsay Somerville, the most elegant werewolf in Paris, has no great wish to return to his home city of Edinburgh, but when he learns that the cruel Duncan MacCormaic is on the Continent and hunting for him, he reluctantly agrees to go into hiding.
Duncan, who held Lindsay in abject captivity for decades after savagely transforming him with his bite, has been trying to find Lindsay since the day he escaped his prison a century before. If Duncan can find him, he has the power to compel Lindsay to obey his every command, so the more distance Lindsay can put between them, the better.
… on a mission…
While he’s in Edinburgh, Lindsay has been tasked with acquiring the “Naismith Papers”, the writings of a long-dead witchfinder. It should be a straightforward mission. All Lindsay has to do is charm an elderly book collector, Hector Cruikshank. But Cruikshank may not be all he seems—and there are others who want the papers.
… meets his match
As if that were not enough, while tracking down the Naismith Papers, Lindsay meets stubborn architect Drew Nicol. Although the attraction between them is intense, Nicol seems frustratingly determined to resist Lindsay’s advances. Somehow though, Lindsay can’t seem to accept Nicol’s rejection. Is he just moonstruck, or is Nicol bonded to him in ways he doesn’t yet understand?

Miguel Garcia and Luis Rodriguez have been best friends all their lives. For the last year, they’ve been hiding the fact that they’re also destined mates. When Luis’s family finds out, they kick him out. Miguel’s family would keep them… except their alpha has been known to be downright violent against gay wolves.
With the help of Miguel’s mother, they set out to find a pack that will accept them. They run into more than a few obstacles before they end up in Denver, at the national wolf headquarters, meeting the alpha prime. They’re stunned to find, not only offers to join more than one pack, but that their struggle can shine light on a bigger problem–and make things better for LGBT wolves across the country.
Blurb: Harvey Colton was Dwayne’s mate and they both knew it. He’d always known it. It was just too bad that Harvey decided to go off and play soldier instead of claiming him or even talking to him about it. By the time he remembered Dwayne existed and came back, Dwayne wanted nothing to do with the man. Life just didn’t ask him what he wanted. Duty and bonds of friendship had him following his best friend as they left their old clan and went in search of a new one. Unfortunately, Harvey decided to come along, as well, and he was making Dwayne’s life miserable, insisting that they were mates. Harvey Colton never denied his mate, and that was the one part Dwayne didn’t seem to understand. He simply couldn’t claim him when he had a duty to the military. When his brother is banished, Harvey feels compelled to tag along, especially when he learns Dwayne is going to. Now, if he can just get his mate to agree to talk to him.
Review: Harvey and Dwayne were mates but due to an commitment with the military, Harvey left. Dwayne was not only hurt but he was angry and he was definitely showing it. Now they were all looking for a new home after Harvey’s brother was banned from their home due to becoming an alpha. It seems sitting in a long car ride might just be the thing for them.
It is a cute story that was just to short to truly get into. I had trouble remembering the previous stories to catch who was who. Which basically means a night of reading them over for me. I love bear shifters and their love of honey. It always makes me laugh when it is mentioned. I understood Harvey a lot more than I did Dwayne, however good reason he had to be mad, just didn’t really do him. He came off as more whiny then shifter. However I still got a kick out of them.
I can honestly say that these are stories that will be read many times over. I had a blast reading it and can’t wait to see what the next story has going on.
Blurb: Andy’s planning a feast but it has nothing to do with a holiday and everything to do with the sexy shifter whose heart he’s determined to win.
Andy Cunningham wasn’t thrilled with his month in the charity calendar event—he kind of thought November was a bit undignified. But when he meets Kerry, a sexy buck shifter at the calendar release party, he forgets all about posing during Turkey month and starts planning ways to catch Kerry’s attention—and his heart.
Review: Andy and Kerry meet up after the shoot for some hot fun. Afterwards they both realize it’s more than sex for them. Hot and sexy yet sweet and tender is the way I would describe these two men together.
I loved everything about this story. Sweet and sexy.
Blurb: To find his family, Damian’s forced to take a journey through his past and drag his mate long with him.
Working for one tyrant after another made Damian lose sight of what’s important. That is until he has a vision of his long lost siblings getting killed. To find them in time, Damian must do things he’s never done before, like rely on others and put his mate, Owen, into dangerous situations. He also must go back to the one tyrant he never wanted to face again. His father.
Review: Damian followed his mom’s advice. He gave himself over to his father, after he killed many of his father’s people, to save his little brothers. He learned to kill but in doing so he lost the hope of ever trusting anyone, except for his mate. Then he got a vision of his father finding his brothers and them dying. He needed to find them and keep them safe. The alpha of Saint Lakes decided Damian needed his mate to go with him.
Owen was a sweet eagle shifter and was falling in love with his mate. Even if his mate was a cranky vampire shifter who loved to kill. He has some major problem getting over that but he knows in his heart that Damian will be ok. They needed to save Damian’s little brothers but he also knows it will take the pack to do it.
It has been a very long time since I have read one of these stories so it got a bit confusing trying to figure out who was who. So the first thing I would stress on is to read the books in order. The characters were quite enjoyable, however Owen will be my favorite of all the characters in this story, although Damian’s brothers are adorable. The worlds that this author creates are always unique and fresh. The story will catch your attention until the end, well for me this is how it was.
I felt that the story dragged out a bit more than it was needed however fun as it was. I didn’t much care for the jumping from different characters as it did though. That was the only part that drove me nuts. It did have a darker tone then the previous books but was still good. Other than that it was an enjoyable read that I would definitely recommend.

This isn’t the life Cole dreamt of, but what choice does he have?
With his twenty-third birthday behind him, Cole Moreton now faces the shifter compatibility test which will decide his future. Testing positive means joining a pack and eventually taking the bite. Unfortunately, with enviable skills in self-defence and hand-to-hand combat, the kind of packs interested in him aren’t any he’d want to join.
Logan has been a member of the McKillan pack for most of his life. Pack is family and loyalty is everything, but when the shifter government turns out to be no better than the oppressive humans before them, he questions everything.
Right from their first meeting, Logan knows that a life with the McKillan pack isn’t right for Cole, but with his alpha taking a keen interest in Cole’s skills, Logan’s hands are tied. Mutual attraction builds between them, but acting on it is futile—helping Cole will put their lives at risk and an end to any future they could’ve had.
Blurb: When it came to defense, or offense when needed, Cullen McIntyre thought he was prepared. It wasn’t until he watched as monsters he’d never knew existed walked out of thin air to kill members of his family, twice, that Cullen realized how wrong he’d been. By the third time he’d come face to face with those determined to kill him and the rest of his family for doing their duty, Cullen knew he needed help, and lots of it.
The moment Ulf laid eyes on Cullen, he’d been enthralled by the man’s resolve to protect what was left of his family. Being shot and left for dead by Cullen should have cooled his desire for the fiery man, but it only made him want him more. By the time he caught up to Cullen, Ulf knew, without a doubt, the druid was destined to be his. Now he just needed to convince Cullen of that.
As Cullen and Ulf join their friends to fight the monsters from the realm of the Fae, they find there is a new threat waiting to get through the Veil. A threat they might not be able to defeat. Will Ulf & Cullen get their chance at happily ever after, or will the Fae finally succeed in their quest to destroy the veil?
Review: I loved this story. Cullen is fierce and knows how to fight. He booby traps the property for protection against the monsters sent to kill him and his family. Ulf arrives to help but ends up injured by one of the traps.
The two meet again when they arrive at Ulf’s home separately.
I loved these two together. Ulf and Cullen both are determined and protective of those they love. The series is intriguing and keeps your attention from start to finish.
I am looking forward to reading more about the cursed men and the situations that happen when each find their mates as well as the fae.
Blurb: It’s not just the ghosties and the ghouls that you’ve got to watch out for on Halloween!
Jerome is an artist—in his opinion, anyway. Not everyone would agree that what he does is art, but he’d beg to differ. He has a niche following and his business picks up around Halloween. When a handsome stranger walks into his gallery, the attraction that crackles to life between them is instantaneous, and scarier than anything Jerome has ever created.
He’s quirky and possibly downright weird, but for some reason, the sexy doctor seems to be into him. Jerome isn’t sure he can trust the feelings developing between them, and when someone decides Jerome’s studio needs to go, he fears he’ll never have the chance to see what kind of life he could have with Kaito.
Kaito Yoshida is a successful pediatric oncologist, and a complicated man. As serious as any doctor in his position while working, he’s missed out on a lot of things in his personal life. An encounter that, at first, is mortifying, leads to Kaito daring to take a step he’s never bothered to take before.
He doesn’t expect to fall for Jerome Johnson, or for Jerome to fall for him.
And neither of them expect the obstacles they will encounter on the way to love.
Reader Advisory: Please note that this books contains scenes of violence and references to domestic abuse and the death of children.
Review: I loved this story about Jerome and Kato. Both are lonely yet Kato was with someone who was soon dumped after Kato meets Jerome. These two men are perfect each other in every way.
As usual the story is not without it’s suspense in the form of the things these men must face. But they face them and persevered to achieve the happy ever after.
Blurb: Divine Death had been on a mission since the day he understood the torture others were willing to inflict on him and his kind—to kill them all. As an Amur Leopard shifter, his ability to sneak up on anyone made him one of the best assassins in the world, but it came at cost, the loss of his soul.
Pacey Chapman was someone who liked to hide from…well, everything. Having been hurt in the past by too many people to count, including his own family. As a bunny shifter, he was considered weak—prey—both descriptions fit him far too well, especially when he was afraid of his own shadow.
The moment Divine and Pacey met, their worlds tilted. But how does a hardened assassin and a terrified bunny find a way to coexist? Fortunately, Fate has a plan that allows Pacey to discover being brave isn’t about not being afraid, while Death discovers it’s possible to have the one thing he thought impossible—a soul.
Review: Pacey and several of this siblings were kicked out when they were teenagers just because their parents couldn’t afford to feed them. Pacey was the only one that had no place to go. He has been hurt by not only his family but by many others. So he feared anything and any one. He is a cute bunny shifter that lived through a horrible time and many thought he was prey. So imagine this cute bunny shifter meeting Death.
Death has spent most of his life in a lab being tortured and experimented on. He didn’t feel anything for anyone. He killed because he was good at it. He is also a leopard shifter who is mated to a bunny shifter.
It has been some time since I read the first book for this series and the books from the one that is connected to it. So I was not as in tuned with it as I would have been had I read all the books at once. The characters are pretty cool to read about and their stories will have you in tears. Two different lives living in horrible situations came out of it with two different reactions and this author managed to hit it on the nail. What each went through was different they still manage to heal the other. This world that they live in was pretty unique and I liked hearing about it, in a way. I felt bad for Koda though, but your going to have to read to figure out that statement.
I can honestly say that Pacey will be my favorite in this story. I do admit that I think the story came off a bit rushed especially Pacey’s part. One moment he is so fearful but then he is basically jumping Death. It also felt just a bit jumbled and didn’t flow as well as it should have for me. Other wise it was a great story.
I enjoyed reading it and look forward to reading the next book.
Blurb: One hundred and forty years ago, Harry, Edward, and Francis met an angel, a demon, and a sorceress while escaping imprisonment and worse! They emerged with a new family – and shape-shifting powers beyond their wildest dreams.
Now Harry and his brothers use their sorcery to rescue those enslaved in human trafficking – but Harry’s not doing so well. Pining for Suriel, the angel, has driven him to take more and more risks until his family desperately asks Suriel for an intervention.
In order for Suriel to escape the bindings of heaven, he needs to be sure enough of his love to fight to be with Harry. Back when they first met, Harry was feral and angry, and he didn’t know enough about love for Suriel to justify that risk.
Can Suriel trust in Harry enough now to break his bonds of service for the boy who has loved his familiar angel for nearly a century and a half?
Review: Familiar Angel is the first book in Amy Lane’s Familiar Love series. While I love to read and listen to Amy Lane’s audio works, I wasn’t sure what to expect as this is the first book of Lane’s that I’ve read that is a paranormal. Typically, I love the writing style of Lane’s contemporary works and was pleased to see that this translated over into the paranormal story.
Narration for this book was performed by Gomez Pugh. According to my Audible library I’ve got another book narrated by Pugh, also written by Lane, but to be honest (although my review says I liked his work) I have zero recollection of the book. So I kinda went into this one blind. For Familiar Angel, Pugh has done a fantastic job. There are a number of characters, all requiring their own voices, with six secondary characters who are just as important as the two main characters of this story. Pugh made it easy to follow the various conversations and to follow when the book goes to a flashback.
Ugh. Sorry, this leads me onto a bit of a rant and the only reason why I didn’t give this a full 5/5.
I personally can’t stand a book that has a lot of flashbacks. And there were a number of long flashbacks here. I’m a simple person who wants near-instant gratification, particularly when there are flashbacks occurring at pivotal moments and disrupting my flow. The way I see it, especially for long drawn out scene that span a chapter or more, just tell me the important point in the present because I want to get to the guts of the story. While I did find it a bit tedious, both Lane’s writing and Pugh’s animated narration managed to pull off a really enjoyable story that I think I would find near impossible to read myself.
The story starts out when we are introduced to Harry, Edward and Francis in early 1800s California. They’ve lived a rough life and that wouldn’t get any easier, in fact, they would be lucky if they lasted another couple of years. But when Harry and Edward try to escape their predicament, they stumble upon a witch trying to help a beloved demon with the help of another demon and one of God’s angels. It is here that the boys turn from humans to become a witch’s familiar with a significantly longer life span.
More than a century later, the family use their powers to help those without hope – they will do anything to stop human trafficking. Harry has struggles through the decades, the biggest issue for him being his unrequited love for the angel that helped their family, Suriel. However, for Harry his past still haunts him, the fear of what had happened in his human life has followed over into immortality and he needs the help of his family and Suriel to help him defeat it (and as a bonus the family can save the day).
Suriel is a strong being, but he has his doubts and concerns when it comes to Harry. Harry is reckless and his family need Suriel to help save Harry. He knows that Harry is worth falling for, but there is so much uncertainty that Suriel is waiting until the absolute last possible days to figure it all out, when he had been visiting the family for almost a century and a half. However, to be with Harry permanently Suriel has to make drastic changes to his life and his being, going through a horrific trial of his own, as soon as he helps Harry and the family with breaking a massive human trafficking ring.
I can’t wait for the rest of the series. Book 2 is already out (I can’t wait for Edward and Mullin’s story) and there is to be a book 3 for Francis. I think those 2 will go a lot smoother since Familiar Angel has built a very complex world and given backstory for over six characters who are central to this story.
I recommend this to anyone that loves to read paranormal, although there are no shape shifters per se (the boys are familiars and there are no established packs, alphas, etc.), the battle between good and evil with witches, cats, angels and demons is a fun roller coaster.

I Dare You to Break Curfew
(Inshari Chronicles 01)
by
Eva Muñoz
To save humankind, Camron may have to fall in love.
Vampires are real, and they are called the Inshari. After Camron Masters breaks curfew the first time, he discovers them living beneath Braylin Academy. The second time he breaks curfew, he meets a mad scientist who convinces him to take part in an experiment in exchange for more information about the Inshari. A small pinprick later, Camron wakes up as one of them and finds himself bonded to the prince of his dreams—vampire or not, Troyan is dark, brooding, and oh so delicious. But there’s the enigmatic Zaire vying for his attention too. Or is Camron just a pawn in a centuries-old feud?
All Camron’s ever wanted was to live his own fairy tale. But there’s always a catch after meeting Prince Charming.
Blurb: Kegan Tulach already knew that monsters were real. He’d faced them. Watched in horror as they killed those he loved. Then run from them. It was his response for the past two years. But now, on his twenty-first birthday, running wasn’t an option. He had no where to go. It was time for him to face his worst nightmare.
There weren’t many people who could do what Bjorn did. Fight monsters and live to tell the tale. It was a job thrust upon him as a kid. If he had known the true hell that would be cursed upon him, he would have preferred to die even though he’d only been fourteen at the time. Now, years later, he had hope that the curse would come to an end. The question was, would he choose the death he’d so desperately craved for more than a millennia, or would he do the one thing he swore he’d never do? Choose love.
If Kegan and Bjorn can find a way past their fears, they may discover something worth living for – each other.
This is a stand alone with an HEA, but reading the first book is recommended for full enjoyment.
Review: Bjorn and Kegan’s story continues the series. Bjorn finds Kegan in a fight for his life. Injured Kegan does what he can to help but ends up passing out. Bjorn takes Kegan and flees. Recuperating in different areas the two finally make it Bjorn’s home.
I liked the entire story. Each of stories contain a different element at play and I was intrigued by Kegans gift. Bjorn was tough yet sweet. I am looking forward to reading about who else in Bjorn’s group finds their mate as well as what the druid’s power will be when they find them,
Blurb: Outfoxing their enemies will be a bear of a task.
Aspiring journalist and fox shifter David ends up with a target on his back after hacking the Moreau Initiative, the shifter world’s greatest enemy. But he won’t let that stop him from the campus tour road trip that’ll help him become the next Anderson Cooper… even if his family insists he travel with a grumpy grizzly bear bodyguard.
Buddy Brady is older, sexy, and too damn distracting for David, and as the sexual tension builds, so does the suspicion around the repeated attacks—first in Chicago, then in New York. Someone is tracking them, and all clues point to a traitor in the shifter ranks. Worst of all, they could be after David’s family….
Review: Fox Hunt is the fourth book in j. leigh bailey’s Shifter U series. I fully recommend to read this series in order, it’s a thoroughly enjoyable series and each book is about a different couple, but also I found that since it has been a while since I read the previous books I had to do a quick flip through to reacquaint myself with the other characters and the over-arching storyline that continues through to the present book.
As I said, Shifter U is a really enjoyable series and I was pretty excited to get into the next instalment. The way that bailey has written the book made the whole thing feel more accessible in the fact that despite this is about shifters being hunted, I find it so easy to relate and sympathise with the characters. Fox Hunt, just like the previous books, are a really good book to read when you want to relax and take it easy, while having a bit of intrigue to keep you going.
The story starts out with David. He’s a fox shifter, journalist who recently graduated from the so-called Shifter U and his mother, brother and stepfather are on a supernatural group/committee who only want the best for shifters and peaceful relations with humans. Let’s face it, most paranormal/shifter/vampire books tend to have a paranormal governing body, so it’s not anything new.
David is seen as a bit of a flake, a spoilt brat by many, including his mother and brother. Yet under the surface is a man who is passionate about the truth as well as the safety of humans and shifter alike. He recently used his mother’s work computer to hack into the group known as the Moreau Initiative (as in The Island of Doctor Moreau), this group functions as the “boogie man” of this series, the evil people that are after shifters. David has effectively painted a target on his back, the last thing that he wants because David is about to do a road trip and interview to get into several internships and move to the next stage in his career.
Fearing for David’s life, David’s mother, brother and stepfather insist on David bringing a bodyguard with him on the journey. That bodyguard is Buddy Brady, an older, grumpy bear shifter who put his life’s ambitions on hold to raise his younger brothers, ultimately leading to his current career and his latest assignment. Buddy quickly finds out that there is something strange happening around David. He is definitely being targeted but it is a mystery as to how his attackers are tracking him.
Together, David and Buddy solve the mystery and uncover more disturbing facts surrounding the Moreau Initiative while going on David’s cross country road trip. These guys are well suited and while they are very different on the surface, I love how passionate they both are about just about every aspect in life. It’s now that they are together that they grow and learn to trust love and passion of a different nature. What I love the most is that with both David and Buddy there is a lot more going on under the surface than first expected and so I really enjoyed their development as individuals as well as a couple.
Fox Hunt is something of a buddy (pun intended) road trip, mixed with mystery, danger and love. This is really a typical shape shifter romance in terms of formula, but the characters have great personalities and are intriguing. Fans of Shifter U series will enjoy the latest instalment, but I also recommend to people that like shape shifter stories.
I look forward to more from this series. While David and Buddy have a really satisfying romance and we are left with a HEA for these guys, there is more to come with the whole storyline of the Moreau Initiative and I’m sure we’ll get to meet some more interesting characters from the world of Shifter U.
Blurb: Ryley Duggan resented his family for forcing him home on his twenty-first birthday to perform another stupid fire ritual, instead of letting him go out and get shit-faced like normal people his age. He’d never believed in the stories his grandmother told him about the reason behind what they were doing. That was, until he walked outside to the bonfire to see bloodcurdling creatures that no Hollywood studio had ever come close to replicating, killing his family.
Since an early age, Eirik had one job, to protect the descendants of the one who’d cursed him and his friends. It hadn’t been what he’d ever imagined for his life, but after nearly a millennia Eirik had learned one thing, life never went as planned. Never had that been truer than when he’d rescued Ryley from certain death.
Now the two must learn to work together to save humanity. Will all be lost? Or will they discover a way to heal their hearts by opening themselves up to love?
WARNING: Unseelie monsters run amok in this story!
Review: After watching his family be massacred by fae minions Ryley and his sister Meghan travel with Eirik, the man who saved them, to his home. What he learns will change his life. Eirik is cursed to protect druid families for centuries. He is a warrior through and through. When he meets Ryley he has no idea what is in store for them. But soon learns they are meant to be together.
I loved the entire book. The battles were fierce. I also loved meeting all the brothers and hope that each get their own stories. Fen was an enigma to me as his part is glossed over. I also wanted to know whose mate cursed the brothers because at one point in the story it says a druid did yet in another part it says Fen’s mate did so I was confused, unless I read it wrong.
Aside from that it was a wonderful beginning to a series that I hope continues. Fantastic read.
Blurb: He was an ordinary guy, who had unusual desires, ones that would dub him a serial killer. Unlike most, he decided to act on his whims. The media dubbed him the Professor, it fit. He was determined to learn new things, stuff others would balk at. The Cops and FBI upped the bets when they caught his trail.
Detective Remington Conahan was a little jaded and a lot dedicated. When the first body is found, he is called because everyone knows he will give her the justice she deserves. No one’s life is worthless to him.
Grayson Knox is the newest member to join the Federal Paranormal Unit. When he gets a call from an old friend that a witch was killed and there is a threat of a new serial killer, he agrees to help with the investigation. What he didn’t expect to find was a man who made him lose sight of why he was here.
When evil masquerades as a regular man and travels the country, can anyone protect them?
Review: Remington is one hell of a detective who has just been thrown into a case that was not what he had expected. A killer who is called the Professor just wanting to kill and find out how it felt to play with the body. And Grayson who works for the Federal Paranormal Unit but he is also a god. Sounds like a bad joke but Remington and Grayson are determined to find out who is behind this. While Remi is trying to keep his attention off Grayson.
This story was different. Remi is not only jaded but damn the man is cranky. He can also be a hard ass, but one kiss from Grayson and the steam just rolls all over. I am not really sure why it is called a paranormal story other than the fact that Grayson is a god and the first girl that was killed was a low level witch. They didn’t really do anything to make the paranormal part stand out in this story.
The killings and the fact that it was actually told from the killers voice was just a bit creepy. However like I said above the story was like some cop shows I have read with just a paranormal twists. I didn’t care for how fast and mushy Grayson was, for one he is god, yet he came off different. There was no word of matings, so I am guessing it was just sex and love. However it felt rushed to me. Remington was well defined in the story but you just hear parts of Grayson’s story, so that made the story rocky.
Now the story itself with the murders and the way the man just kept teasing them was pretty crazy and I actually found myself liking it. It had quite a bit of errors that I found, but lets just say that these authors would make a mint with murder stories. I would say that character development needs to be worked on. However as strange as it sounds I actually liked the story enough to read it twice before doing this review.
It doesn’t sound like it but I did like the story quite a bit. I hope we see more of the paranormal side of things in the next book.
Blurb: Emperors Chrysander and Ellery Draconis are in love and looking toward the future. Ellery is the first hybrid to survive a dragon shift, becoming a legend. Chrysander couldn’t be happier with his elf dragon, and for the first time he is truly savoring life. Despite the demands of their schedules as the leaders of the Council of Sorcery and Shifters, the pair have also managed to find balance. But not everyone is happy to see the leader of the dragons with a half-elven mate.
As the two go about their daily business, those sworn to protect them work tirelessly each day to ensure the safety of their emperors. They lived through the horror of the previous rulers being murdered and are all too aware of the dangers that lie in wait. Nothing is left to chance, but regardless of their dedication, not even they can prevent evil from rising from the mists.
On a seemingly ordinary day, an unexpected attack shocks everyone. A matebond is taken to the brink and the limits of magic are tested as the strongest forces unite to try to repair the damage. It will take time, patience, and perseverance for good to prevail. Chrysander and Ellery will once again overcome the odds and emerge victorious, but in the end, nothing will ever be the same..
Review: This is part two of emperors Ellery and Chrysanders story. The two are settling into life together as mates. They are happy and enjoying each other. But not everyone is happy for the newly mated couple and a devious plan is set in motion that will change their lives forever.
History has a way of repeating itself and in this case that is almost what happens. The spans a year or more as Chrys and the sorcery of D’Vaire struggle night and day to reverse what is done to Ellery. I was heartbroken as the event unfolded and could not imagine the agony the emperors were going through. Chrys was a rock for Ellery through this trying time though he did have his doubts from time to time.
I was thrilled as many characters we know and love came together as a whole to find out who did this horrible thing to their emperor. I am always amazed with every book that comes out as they always add more depth and understanding to an already fascinating series.
I loved meeting the new characters that were introduced in this addition as well as hints to future matings. It’s always a pleasure to read each book that comes out and I feel humbled and honored that I was introduced to such an amazing and intriguing series as this.
I highly recommend the entire series. You must read these books in order as each picks up where the previous one leaves off. It is my greatest wish that this series continues for a long time as I simply love it. It’s my favorite series of all time.
Blurb: Will Logan and Luke Warren are still running, with no refuge in sight. After stopping in Tennessee to meet up with teammates Ron Perry and Jake Wilson, they head for Atlanta, to rendezvous with the remaining member of their team, Todd Jackson. Kowalski told Logan he murdered Jackson, but Logan knows all too well how hard it is to kill any of them now. He’s hopeful that Jackson survived and is waiting to meet them. Once they arrive in the city, they find Jackson easily enough. They soon discover, however, that he’s involved in a strange and savage situation, a member of a vicious fight club in the basement of an Atlanta club. When he tells Logan he’s in trouble and can’t extricate himself, Logan finds an oppressive atmosphere of evil in the club, seeming to center around the club’s owner, a charismatic man named Austell. Logan is disgusted by the illegal fighting, but Luke and the others are all inexplicably drawn to it. Something or someone is influencing the men, infusing them with violence and cruelty. A chain of events begins to unfold that will test Logan and Luke’s bond to the breaking point. Logan’s life is turned upside down as he has to fight for the lives of his friends and the man he can’t live without. When they’re kidnapped, and everything Logan holds dear is in deadly danger, will he be strong enough to save them all?
In this book, the second in a three part series, new clues and revelations emerge as to what happened to Logan and his friends in book 1, Origins, Gods of War, to change their lives. They face a new and savage threat to their safety, and receive intervention from Heaven itself? Or could it be Hell?
Review: Luke and Logan had been prisoners together along with other members of their team. They had escaped with many different gifts. Gifts that might just turn into curses. After killing Kowalski, Logan knew their team needed to get the hell from where they were hiding. Then one of them got a vision that lead them straight into hell it would seem. However they had to get Jackson back.
I don’t remember reading book one but noticed I had given it a high rating. After reading this though, I am not too sure I actually want to finish the series. It has a very dark tone to it and almost no humor whatsoever. Logan and Luke fought more times then I can count, plus Logan’s fear of Luke leaving him left me not able to connect at all. There were so many twists and turns to this story that it should have gone in one direction but for me it went in the other. I couldn’t connect with the characters and the story was just too dark to even like.
However it is well written except for the jumping around part. I hate to admit that this story was a downfall for me. I couldn’t get into it and pretty much hated the characters. Even though it sounded like I didn’t like Logan, he was the one I actually did like. As for the story it never really delved into the questions I had.
Blurb: Phineas Smith has been cursed with a power no one could control.
Roark Lyne is his worst enemy and his only hope.
The only human student at Mather’s School of Magick, Phineas Smith has a target on his back. Born with the rare ability to tap into unlimited magick, he finds both Faerie Courts want his allegiance—and will do anything to get it.
They don’t realize he can’t levitate a feather, much less defend the Faerie Realm as it slips into civil war.
Unseelie Prince Roark Lyne, Phineas’s roommate—and self-proclaimed arch nemesis—is beautiful and brave and a pain in the ass. Phineas can’t begin to sort through their six years of sexual tension masquerading as mutual dislike. But Roark is also the only one able to help Finn tame his magick.
Trusting Roark’s mysterious motives may be foolish; not accepting his temporary protection would be deadly.
Caught in the middle of the impending war, Phineas and Roark forge a dangerous alliance. And as the walls between them crumble, Phineas realizes that Roark isn’t the monster he’d imagined. But their growing intimacy threatens to expose a secret that could either turn the tide of the war…or destroy them both.
Review: Phineas has the ability to tap into the ley lines. While a unique and strong power it is also dangerous as he can not control it. Roark is the prince of air and darkness at unseelie court. His mother, the queen thinks that she could take Finn’s power, so kidnaps and tortures him until Roark rescues him. This is the beginning of the book.
From there Roark has to constantly save Finn from various creatures trying to take the power from him while at the same trying to keep his feelings about Finn under wraps. Everything comes to a head when war looms on the horizon between the fae realms.
Adventurous and action packed this story captures your attention from start to finish. I loved everything about the story. Roark suffers along with Finn until they can longer fight their feelings. The twists and turns in the book had me gasping when the secrets were revealed.
I am looking forward to the next book in the series to see what happens next.

Omega wolf shifter, Vance, and the rest of his small pack have finally found an Alpha willing to take them on and were still trying to regain their footing when the McBane Pack attacked them. When a vampire appears in front of him, Vance realizes he’s looking into the ice-blue eyes of his mate, and the fact that his mate is something other than wolf scares him.
Sakima knew the wolf shifter was his destined companion the moment he scented him at Elysium, but claiming the gorgeous young Omega wolf is a dangerous proposition. Vance and his unconventional pack have attracted the attention of the vampire coven. As the owner of Elysium, Sakima has been asked to use the club to gather information on the powerful interspecies pack and its Alpha.
Unfortunately for Vance and Sakima, the vampire coven and the continued attacks by the McBane Pack are only a portion of their problems. Amidst concerns over Alpha Tanner’s abilities growing with Sakima’s addition to the pack, a spurned ex targets Vance in an attempt to remove him from Sakima’s life, and Elysium becomes a hot bed for interspecies mingling where anyone could be an enemy.
