Blurb: Kaede Hiyashi is sick and tired of living in the shadow of his father, supervillain Doctor Terror. Brilliant but crazy, Doctor Terror sends his son to Corwyn, California, for reasons Kaede can’t imagine. Sent to accompany and protect him is Ash, a genetically modified supersoldier raised and trained by an infamous death cult.

Corwyn is lousy with superheroes, led by the obnoxious Dark Justice. Kaede finds himself dancing around Dark Justice as he digs into his father’s mysterious business and teaches his socially awkward—but physically lethal—bodyguard to acclimate to “normal” life. Can these two wacky supervillains figure out what Doctor Terror wants them to do, solve the riddle of the villain known as Black Hand, and keep Dark Justice from raining on their bloody parade? The course of love—and world domination—never did run smooth.

Review: Kaede Hiyashi is the son of supervillian Doctor Terror. With the numerous enemies the villain has Kaede has been training for all different scenarios when his father assigns him a genetically enhanced bodyguard, Ash Burn. Both of these are by no means perfect and each have their own struggles to deal with but amid all the chaos they lean toward one another.

I loved the fact that just because you were in the superhero category did not necessarily mean you were one. There is battles and death throughout as is expected in this type of book. I found myself enthralled with the twists and turns that emerged in this story as I followed the two men throughout their journey.

The characters in this story were well detailed with a hint of mystery to them that added to their appeal. The overall feel of the book was never knowing what to expect in regards to certain characters like Doctor Terror, Dark Justice and Black Hand. I love when an author takes me by surprise in a story.

Great read.

Review: Welliver is on the mission to earth to scout out a safe place to live. He is super smart and knows it. When things go bad he is the one called on to fix the problem. Case in point when the creatures attack the ship. Unfortunately Welliver is too far away and has no chance getting to the safety of the ship so he takes off into the unknown. About to be attacked. A sexy, naked man comes to the rescue and saves Welliver from being eaten.

Beast has been alone on earth since the prison was deserted twenty years before. He cannot remember his name but he does know that he wants Welliver. Things progress nicely between these two.

I loved this book. Beast is dangerous and sexy a definite plus for me. Welliver is smart and handsome. I loved how Welliver went through the system and discovered who Beast was. The interactions between these two were hot.

Amazing and fascinating read from start to finish. Highly recommended.

Review:  This is a very unique type of story that I have not had the pleasure of reading before.  I was pleased and, well, not so pleased with it.  Although I have to admit that I did like most of the book.  It is very entertaining and there is quite a bit of surprise and some suspense going on for the two sexy men.  I liked the concept that this book gave and can say that I wished we had it going on.  Let’s just say this year should be fixed.  It is a very interesting plot and I was surprised to find that I had a bit more fun than I would have expected.

Drake has been brought into the Oracle Group.  He is one of the top doctors in History one could say.  Jen is the one who recruited him, but they have become a very hot couple.  Sent back in time to fix the mistakes of time travelers is what they do.  Drake is the one who goes into the past, whereas Jen is the one who keeps him focused.  Sent back to the time of a plague has Jen scared to death.  Not of the actual mission but of the fact they have no clue what they are looking for.

Now the story itself progressed pretty fast however it was missing quite a bit to make it a top rated story.  I feel that it could have had more content, especially in the end.  It felt like it just ended too fast and there are no signs of a continued story to get further into.  Also you see when our sexy men meet, straight to sex and then into a relationship.  There was no build-up, no development, were thrown into a story right off the bat.  For me I wanted to see that build-up, that development, I also wanted to see a better ending then was given.

You do get a happily ever after but it just came off very rushed and I saw several sections that could have been expanded to make it a five heart review.  Other than those issues I saw with it, the story is quite interesting and I did have fun reading it.

Blurb: Two very different civilizations—one bathed in bright sunlight and the other veiled in shadow.

Bad decisions, declining resources, and a king on the brink of madness force Prince Varo Kutchif, third son of the royal family and a starship captain, to attempt the impossible: barter for Black Phospolrock, an energy source the mysterious Helkan Kingdom has in abundance. Varo opens a line of communication with Adlar, an intriguing Helkan who seems to reciprocate Varo’s interest. He hopes so, because if negotiations collapse, Varo has orders to attack.

The Helkans preside over a planet shrouded in perpetual darkness. Several species have tried to exploit its natural resources through trade with them, but all have failed. Adlar Mondur is the older brother to the Helkan ruler. An assassin of the highest order, he’ll do anything to protect his king and his people—including tracking down the Yesri prince who crash-lands on their planet, leaving an ugly scar across its untouched beauty.

Thus begins a journey where two men from disparate civilizations grow from enemies to lovers.

Review: Wow what a story. Varo acting on his father’s orders, which he does not want to do, attempts to make a deal with the Helkan King for a rich resource of theirs. If he does not get the deal he is to eliminate the king and his brother. Varo is not happy and would like nothing better than to be left alone.

Upon seeing the Helkan brother Adler, Varo is strongly attracted to the appealing man and vice versa. When the king denies him things go from bad to worse as a series of events leads him to being captured by Adler and taken as his slave.

I loved this story so much. The descriptions of the planet were breath-taking yet deadly. Adler was strict with Varo and even put a shock collar on him, but stuck to his word not to force the man. I liked that even though he was a prisoner Varo still had his opinions on certain things.

What Varo thought he knew of the Helkans was wrong on many accounts and as the two got to know one another they both realized the other was not like anything they had been told. I thought they meshed well together.

There was action, drama, adventure, betrayal, romance and some hot and heavy scenes in this fantastic story. I truly loved it. Recommended to all.

It’s not so easy trying to plan an escape when Noland keeps getting distracted by how his mission partner so very nicely fills out his uniform. And he suspects Gavnson is hiding something, too. Review: When I first started reading this story, I wasn’t too sure if I was going to even like it a little. Jaxxon is not my idea of a good man let alone boyfriend.  His wife and daughter left for Florida to start over, and Jaxxon just gets drunk. Then a superbug hits and many die around them every single day.  Then the news comes that his wife and her family are dead, and he has no idea where his daughter is.  Wade however is a different matter; he is in love with Jaxxon but can see what is going to happen.  So he leaves in search of Jaxxon’s daughter, and if you want to know the rest you have to read the book.

I can’t say that I liked this book, but it was interesting.  It wasn’t a Christmas story but it does have a happy ending.  When I first started reading it, I was thinking that it was just thrown in because there really isn’t anything celebrating the holiday.  Even the cover was depressing. However the ending was better than I thought it would be.  I just hate to admit that this was not a story for me.

Review: Rex is a strange character that is one thing I do know.  He has a sexy boyfriend who he wants to impress, but as a supervillain he is about to bark down a road he has not gone down.  If you want the details then you have got to read the story, trust me you will get a good laugh.

At first I wasn’t really sure about this story, but then I took the theme that the authors of this very strange calendar advent and went with it.  It was a quirky story that was an absolute blast to read.  I spent most of the time laughing my ass off.  For such a short story there is definitely a lot more to bite into.

I got a big kick out of reading it and put it on my all-time Christmas reading list for future holidays.

Charles Payseur

“How the Supervillain Stole Christmas” is a tale of superheroes and villains, which has been something of a passion of mine for a long time. I just can’t help being charmed by the tropes of superheroing, and I love how over-the-top it can be, with giant death lasers and earthquake machines and alien menaces. My main disappointment has always been the lack of representation and, when present, how truly awful a lot of main stream superhero works have been about LGBTQ+ portrayals and storylines. So I decided to start writing my own (hopefully) cute stories that feature characters I could identify with and plots that are just as ridiculous as the best stories to come out of the 60s and 70s. In “How the Supervillain Stole Christmas” Rex Devious is a villain with no luck with relationships. Specifically, he sucks at picking out Christmas gifts. There is no quicker way to scare away a romantic partner than getting them something… inappropriate for Christmas. Like a gun that makes plants sentient. Or a Canadian province. Which is a shame, because Rex just got into a relationship he’s desperate not to screw up and Christmas is just around the corner. Which means, of course, that it’s time to stop Christmas from coming, somehow…

Charles’s Questions!

My question is: Gorillord is a giant, talking gorilla who is also a supervillain (naturally), and he’s mentioned in my latest release, “How the Supervillain Stole Christmas.” In the story we learn that when planning a child’s birthday party, inviting a supervillain as a special guest is rarely a good idea, as Gorillord decides to unionize the household pets into demanding more pets and better food.. But which other of my published stories has featured this ecologically-minded menace?

Review: I think that this was one hell of a perfect gift in my eyes.  The proceeds are going to be given to the LGBT in Florida after the tragic shooting in June. It was an amazing book and for the perfect reason.  I do admit though I just couldn’t read the ones with females in them because I don’t do girly parts at all.  However the hot men in this book made up for the girly parts in spares.

Abstract Heart by Lucie Archer ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 Hearts

Nick spends nearly every lunch break at the modern art museum, hoping to catch a glimpse of docent Kris. Kris has noticed the cute guy hanging around the exhibits too but never manages to approach him. It will take a matchmaking security guard to bring these two introverts together.

Thank god for friends because if it was left up to these two they wouldn’t get past hello and you can definitely see the heat between them.  It is a very cute little story about finding that one person you want to be with.

Cats and Christmas Trees: Trouble Waiting to Happen by M.A. Church ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 Hearts

What’s a half human to do when Christmas rolls around? Kirk tries ignores it, but his shifter mates Tal and Dolf, being sneaky kitties, persist in finding out what’s troubling him so they can make it better.

This was the perfect Christmas story for my favorite shifters.  I love how this author just makes these two cats, well like cats.  When I received this anthology I had not even realized that this story had been included and let’s just say I jumped for joy.  Tal is the perfect omega and Dolf is the perfect alpha, then you add in Kirk and you have got one hell of a threesome.

A Chance for Hope by Deja Black ♥♥♥♥♥ 4.5 Hearts

In the aftermath of tragedy, freelance writer Brad Truscott is drawn to ease Paul Bachman’s grief. But will Paul ever be ready to take another chance on happiness?

I think that this story will hit closer to home for those who suffered from this loss the most.  It shows the heartache, but it also shows hope.  A second chance at love and the tenderness found in each other.  I enjoyed reading it.

Changing Things by Nicole Dennis ♥♥♥♥♥ 4.5 Hearts

Despite his allergies, Ryan puts up with the two rescue cats his boyfriend, Seth, adores. But when an especially severe asthma attack sends Ryan to the hospital, Seth realizes something has to give—either his relationship with Ryan or his guardianship of Fili and Kili.

This was a cute little story that was a blast to read.  I think Seth picked the right choice also, but you really need to read it because I am not telling.  I enjoyed reading it though.

Especially in Orlando by Troy Storm ♥♥♥ 3 Hearts

When bighearted mover Dalton is hired to haul away a hot young guy’s belongings after a breakup, he can’t help returning to see how the good-looking older man is dealing with the transition. George is happy to take Dalton up on his offer of solace. But then George’s ex, Peter—aka Mr. Prissy Pout—has second thoughts, and while George isn’t interested in taking him back, he and Dalton are willing to share their experience—and more.

Now this one was more sexual then actually fun to me.  I didn’t much care for it but then that is me.  I hate to admit that I basically skimmed over the story and read parts of it.  Which for me was a bad thing because it just gave me an eye of what was going on.

Free to Love by Kris T. Bethke ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts

Henry is tired of hiding their relationship, but Shane is afraid to risk losing his job and his parents by coming out as gay. When his worst fears prove true, Shane finds that life outside his parents’ repressive control is so much better than anything he could have imagined.

Parents can be just as cruel as a stranger it would seem.  I felt bad for Shane but the end result rocks.  I enjoyed reading this story and will definitely be checking for these guys to have a longer story in the future, with more juicy details.

Happily Ever After, After All by L.A. Merrill ♥♥♥ 3 Hearts

Once upon a time, Princess Aubergine dreamed of a fairy-tale wedding to the girl of her dreams. Things haven’t exactly worked out that way. Locked in a tower for ten years, Aubergine managed to scare off all the princes coming to rescue her. Now it’s up to her to do the rescuing—until a band of students from the local Ladies’ Academy happen upon her tower and devise a daring escape plan.

Now the story is a fantastic story, however I hate female characters so the story didn’t do anything for me.  I hate to admit that I just skimmed it and didn’t really read it.  When I received it I was told it was m/m or m/m/m romance so to my shock this came up and well you can guess.

The Importance of Pride by Ravon Silvius ♥♥♥♥♥ 4.5 Hearts

College history professor Patrick Levine is looking for a subject for a research proposal when he discovers his granduncle’s journal. To his shock, not only was Uncle Marty gay, but he’d been at the Stonewall riot in 1969. Will learning more about his uncle’s history help Patrick face his own fears about coming out?

I just can’t imagine what his uncle went through to get where we are now.  It is still a fight for the LGBT to be considered equal and I fear what the future will be like.  This is a very sweet story of a young man who is not out but finds out that his uncle was a true believer.  I don’t know if I said any of this right, but I will tell you that this was an inspiring story.

The Insomniac Sommelier by Julie Lynn Hayes ♥♥♥♥♥ 4.5 Hearts

Kirk Westmoreland dreams of owning his own restaurant someday, but for now he fights insomnia while working at family-owned Venezia with his control-freak older brother. After work he tries to de-stress at Sweeties, a small diner run by his sister and her wife. When Kirk meets the diner’s new server, Ashley, he ends up going home with him—to the best sleep he’s had in forever. If he can’t keep his life at Sweeties compartmentalized from his life at Venezia, Kirk will have to decide which one he’s willing to give up.

I definitely can understand insomnia.  This is a really cute little story if not a bit off, but was still a fun little story.  I just felt like it wasn’t for me though, because there was just something missing but I couldn’t figure it out.  Other than my issues, this is a cute story.

Looking for George by David C. Dawson ♥♥♥ 3 Hearts

Betty’s innocent crush on actor George Clooney became something more when he saved her from a fall at the hotel she works at in London. When she discovers her Italian holiday trip will take her only a few miles from the actor’s summer villa… well, surely fate means for them to meet again.

Now the story is a fantastic story, however I hate female characters so the story didn’t do anything for me.  I hate to admit that I just skimmed it and didn’t really read it.  When I received it I was told it was m/m or m/m/m romance so to my shock this came up and well you can guess.

Love Over Lotto by Jude Dunn ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts

Craig Batson and Tom Rendelle have plenty of joy together but not so much money. Determined to improve their finances, Craig borrows a library book on the secrets of winning the lottery and empties their rainy-day fund to buy dozens of lottery tickets. Tom explodes when he finds out, leaving Craig to wonder if their love can survive.

This is a very cute story however it is a bit blown out.  I got a headache within the first few minutes afterwards.  As for the characters, they just seem a bit off to me.  Tom, who works blows at almost everything and then there is Craig who stays home and paints.  They don’t really have that much going for them until the lotto.  Other than those issues it is still a cute story but not really my idea of fun.

More Than His Scars by Jana Denardo ♥♥♥♥♥ 4.5 Hearts

Facing the anniversary of the day he lost his arm while serving in the Middle East, Aaron is understandably depressed. It’s up to his lover, Rhys, to plan a special day to help Aaron see how amazing he really is.

This story has many different aspects to it, if that is the word for it.  On one sense it has the paranormal or fantasy seeing as Rhys and his children are not human.  Then you have Aaron who is not only human but was military until his arm was taken in the war.  It is a sad story with a happy tilt toit.  I am afraid that no matter how good it was, it just wasn’t for me.

Overcoming Fear by Grace R. Duncan ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 Hearts

In the year since a global pandemic ravaged their world, Duncan has done everything he can to ease Mark’s fears of losing him. When a minister and his wife seek out Mark for help, Duncan sees an opportunity to show Mark another level of commitment—if Mark will dare to take it.

One is afraid of losing another person in his life, the other wants forever.  I liked this story quite a bit, no to Christmas themed but it was a lot of fun to read.  I get a kick out zombies, apocalypse and pandemic stories.  This was a lot of fun and look forward to reading a bit more from this author.

Prevailing Zzz’s by Tray Ellis ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts

After eight months together, Greg wants Win to move in with him. But how can Win agree when Greg’s snoring leaves him sleep-deprived and miserable?

Let’s just say that if I had left it up to the blurb for this particular book I would have just went on past.  I believe if you love someone deep enough, then their snoring is no big thing.  It is a fun little book if not a bit quirky to me.

Pushing Back Oblivion by Alicia Nordwell ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts

Fighting a rapidly growing brain tumor, Cohen promises his partner, Jaime, that he’ll never give up. Through surgeries and setbacks, at times that promise and Jaime’s voice are all Cohen has to cling to.

Now this one was just a tease.  It is a sweet story but way too short to get any more than a hint of what is going to happen.  It went from one time, then to another, then two months after the fact that it left a good portion of the story out.  Other than that it was cute.

Reluctant Valentine by Xenia Melzer ♥♥♥♥♥ 4.5 Hearts

A best-selling thriller novelist, Dean writes romances as a relaxing hobby. But when writer’s block strikes, sexy handyman Morgan shows up to provide all the inspiration he needs.

The first thing I have to say is I could have done without the first few lines in this story.  Even if he is the author and it was just about his book, it was well gross.  I hate anything female in my story and almost just put it down to skimming this book.  Other than that we have an author who needs some inspiration and it comes to him in a sexy man.  It is a very cute love story about finding first love.  I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Taking a Chance by Renee Stevens  ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts

Gabe and Toby work for the same company, Gabe in the US and Toby in London. After meeting at a convention, they spend nearly every moment of their time together, but when they both have to return home, their only option is to attempt a long-distance relationship.

This was just a teaser.  Moving away from home to be with the man you love and then that is it.  It is a cute little story but I sure do wish the author might make it a longer story later.  I would love to see how these two do in the future.

Overall
Overall some of the stories rocked, some were just stories and then of course the girly parts but the basis for the book still stands.  This is to help the LGBT community and for that we need to pick up those books and start reading.  Or maybe I should say we need to start buying these stories.  I enjoyed reading them and was glad to have a extra from one of my favorite paranormal love stories mixed in.  I would definitely recommend it.

Review: I wish I could give this story more than five hearts as it was an amazing book to read. I loved the details regarding each enhanced team member. Though I have to admit I want to get know them all better. Talon is the leader of a team (H.E.R.O. Human Enhanced Rescue Organization) whose unique abilities will help where the police cannot and hopefully end the bigotry against them, and he is also against them having human partners.

The team is human apart from Gael, Vance, Eli, Sawyer and Talons abilities. The way the enhanced are treated really pissed me off. Just because they have abilities does not mean they are animals and inhuman. I was glad that some people in the department thought the same.

I seriously liked Finn. He was not afraid to go after what he wanted and despite his dyslexia he strived to do the best he could. I disliked his mother and brother with a passion. I felt he flourished with the team despite the rocky start.

This book is action packed, suspenseful with a romance added in the mix. Talon needed to seriously get his butt out of his head and stop treating Finn like he didn’t belong. Despite that Talon started to admire Finn’s determination. There was a lot of tension at the beginning between these two as well as the members of the team.

I seriously hope there will be books about the other enhanced members of the team as I would love reading their background stories in more detail as well as seeing how the react and interact with a partner of their own. I can’t recommend this book enough as it was a fantastic story that I enjoyed to the very end.

M.A. Church

Two very different civilizations—one bathed in bright sunlight, and the other veiled in shadow.

Review: This is the third book in the Ennek series. Ennek and Miner have finally come home. Only to find things have changed since they have been gone. It is a struggle to accept the changes of this new society while at the same time dealing with their own fears.

It was a wonderfully written, if not slow, ending to an intriguing story. I loved seeing how both the MC’s interacted with each other and others. They faced foes head-on and struggled to make a life for their selves in a world where nothing is certain.

As the story progressed I hoped for Ennek and Miner’s chance to live a peaceful life without all the drama that usually ended up happening. All in all it was a great ending to a really good trilogy.

Great read.

Built for Pleasure

by

Thursday Euclid

Retired military officer Malcolm Torvik runs a rehabilitation facility for malfunctioning pleasure cyborgs. When WLF-6759—Wolf—arrives at Reboot Camp, the former battle cyborg presents problems Malcolm’s never faced before. Most pleasure cyborgs are sensation junkies, constantly high on the chemicals sex releases into their bloodstream, but Wolf’s faulty refit means it’s spent a decade suffering through unwanted encounters—and sometimes fighting back despite the consequences.

At first Wolf’s rebellion frustrates Malcolm even as Wolf’s undeniable physical perfection draws him. Then Wolf’s unexpected vulnerability and need open a whole new dynamic between them, and Malcolm finds himself feeling far too much for something that isn’t even human. Or is it? Could Homo sapiens technica be just as human as Malcolm is? And if it is, what’s Malcolm supposed to do about it? Malcolm’s been alone for so long…. Is it possible he’s found love with a cyborg? How far will he go to ensure Wolf’s freedom? Malcolm knows what he must do—for both of them—but it might cost him much more than his comfortable life.
