Blurb: Evin lost the only two men he ever loved. But he might get a second chance with one of them—if he’s willing to take the risk.
Following the death of his husband, Evin is living in Portland and raising the infant son they had through a surrogate. Six-month-old Micah is his life, and if it means no time for activities or friendships beyond his minuscule support network, that’s a sacrifice Evin is willing to make. When he suffers a burn baking teething biscuits, the last person Evin expects to encounter in the ER is Ben, his lover from college—and the man who left him without a word of explanation.
Ben knows it won’t be easy to earn Evin’s trust and prove he’s not the same man Evin once knew, but he can’t bear to watch Evin struggle to care for Micah, hurting and alone. He wants back in Evin’s life, as a friend and hopefully more, but Evin’s heart is fragile, and the years have changed him too.
Review: Ben and Evin had been a couple in love back in college, until Ben dumped him. No true reason or why but it hurt the same. Then Evin met Daniel and life had been looking up. They got a house and were going to start a family, until Daniel was murdered. He had not known that they were having a baby. Now a year has past and guess who is back.
Ben knew he had hurt Evin, but he also knew that they had been too young. Ben was going to be a doctor and it was going to take time away from Evin. He knew what Evin was going through and was determined to make it all right.
This is one of those second chance romances with quite a bit of pain leading up to it. It was a story missing quite a bit to it. You are missing some pieces that would have made the story rock for me. We knew why Ben left Evin in the beginning but it would have been a bit better had there been some more information to it. Then there is Daniel’s death is just an after thought. You get bits and pieces to it, but no real idea. There was no heat in the story and no passion put into it. The characters were sweet but dull.
The story was good but also flat. It was just missing to much to make the story pop out there for me. It just made it hard to connect with it. I am not saying I didn’t enjoy it because I did, but it could have been better.

Blurb: Their journey will span the universe and back, but there’s no guarantee they’ll make it together.
Though Nick and Fieo are drawn to each other, their relationship has never been easy. Their differences go beyond their races, but they’ve managed to work together to prevent the spread of corruption, growing closer along the way. Nick still battles the effects of years of loneliness, fear, and pain but surprises everyone when he refuses to stay behind when Fieo is sent on a vital mission to find the Collectors. Fieo objects, but there’s no stopping Nick when he sets his mind to something. Over the course of their mission, it becomes clear Nick is more than anyone ever imagined, but the mystery of his past threatens to derail his future.
The search for the truth will take Fieo and Nick far from Caeorleia, to worlds both familiar and completely alien, and put stress on their already tenuous relationship. It’s a journey that will either tear them apart or finally bring them together.
Review:This story is part of a series and must be read in order.
Oh my god was this book fantastic. Feio and Nicklaus take on a mission that spans the universe in search of answers. What they discover is way more than they bargained for.
Despite what Nicklaus went through he is smart and dedicated to the mission, despite the fact that he has problems being around others. Feio has been so patient and understanding with Nicklaus, ever since they meet and has done everything in his power to let Nicklaus come to him when he’s ready.
The intense situations, twists and turns plus an amazing cast of characters just blew my mind. I could not believe how much information was dispersed throughout this great story. I loved how well the story flowed. It seemed we were given just enough to keep reading bit by bit as Nicklaus discovers who he really is.
The revelation about Nicklaus… I was not expecting but was pleasantly surprised and awed by it. I loved everything about this story and am looking forward to more in the series.
Blurb: Dade, human-Caeorleian hybrid and ex-military grunt, doesn’t fit in—not with humans, not with aliens, not anywhere. He’s always on the outskirts, angry, and people aren’t sure they can trust him. When he encounters a compatible tziu named Yaseke, secrets, misunderstandings, and attacks nearly prevent the two from making a connection Dade sorely needs. Even after they unite, Dade and Yaseke face challenges that two newly joined males should never have to endure.
From traitorous council members, to sadistic aliens who plan to sell them as slaves, to meeting a mysterious race of revered aliens called Collectors, Dade and Yaseke manage to stay together—and even rescue two youths related to Yaseke, who’ve lost their parents to the same betrayer.
Someone from Dade’s past is at the root of everything he’s suffered. No way can he let them get away with what they’re planning, but Dade isn’t sure he can stop them on his own. If he doesn’t let go of his isolation and risk the pain letting others in will bring, he’ll never save Caeorleia in time.
Review: I really felt for Dade in this story and what was done to him. It broke my heart that he felt he couldn’t ever be close to anyone because of how the experiment left him to feel others emotions. That had to be debilitating to a degree I could never understand.
Yaseke seems to be just what Dade needs. Someone he can be around yet not feel his emotions. Buphet was an all-around ass that I definitely could not stand whatsoever. The nature of Buphet’s plans for Dade and Yaseke were horrifying. How could anyone do that to their family was mind blowing to me.
This mystery and suspense of the book was off the charts as well as the action and drama that came along with the journey. This book had it all being on the run to being kidnapped and sold to slavers, escaping and finally the confrontation left me on the edge of my seat throughout awaiting the outcome.
I truly loved the entire book and highly recommend it.

Blurb: With time comes healing, but Orlando and the LGBT community are still recovering from last June’s tragedy. To show our ongoing support for those affected by the Orlando shooting, our authors, editors, artists, and staff have volunteered their talents to create this second benefit anthology. All proceeds will be donated to LGBT organizations in central Florida. Join us as we reaffirm that no matter the obstacle, love always wins.
Review: I think that this was one hell of a perfect gift in my eyes. The proceeds are going to be given to the LGBT in Florida after the tragic shooting in June. It was an amazing book and for the perfect reason. I do admit though I just couldn’t read the ones with females in them because I don’t do girly parts at all. However the hot men in this book made up for the girly parts in spares.
Abstract Heart by Lucie Archer ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 Hearts
Nick spends nearly every lunch break at the modern art museum, hoping to catch a glimpse of docent Kris. Kris has noticed the cute guy hanging around the exhibits too but never manages to approach him. It will take a matchmaking security guard to bring these two introverts together.
Thank god for friends because if it was left up to these two they wouldn’t get past hello and you can definitely see the heat between them. It is a very cute little story about finding that one person you want to be with.
Cats and Christmas Trees: Trouble Waiting to Happen by M.A. Church ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 Hearts
What’s a half human to do when Christmas rolls around? Kirk tries ignores it, but his shifter mates Tal and Dolf, being sneaky kitties, persist in finding out what’s troubling him so they can make it better.
This was the perfect Christmas story for my favorite shifters. I love how this author just makes these two cats, well like cats. When I received this anthology I had not even realized that this story had been included and let’s just say I jumped for joy. Tal is the perfect omega and Dolf is the perfect alpha, then you add in Kirk and you have got one hell of a threesome.
A Chance for Hope by Deja Black ♥♥♥♥♥4.5 Hearts
In the aftermath of tragedy, freelance writer Brad Truscott is drawn to ease Paul Bachman’s grief. But will Paul ever be ready to take another chance on happiness?
I think that this story will hit closer to home for those who suffered from this loss the most. It shows the heartache, but it also shows hope. A second chance at love and the tenderness found in each other. I enjoyed reading it.
Changing Things by Nicole Dennis ♥♥♥♥♥ 4.5 Hearts
Despite his allergies, Ryan puts up with the two rescue cats his boyfriend, Seth, adores. But when an especially severe asthma attack sends Ryan to the hospital, Seth realizes something has to give—either his relationship with Ryan or his guardianship of Fili and Kili.
This was a cute little story that was a blast to read. I think Seth picked the right choice also, but you really need to read it because I am not telling. I enjoyed reading it though.
Especially in Orlando by Troy Storm ♥♥♥ 3 Hearts
When bighearted mover Dalton is hired to haul away a hot young guy’s belongings after a breakup, he can’t help returning to see how the good-looking older man is dealing with the transition. George is happy to take Dalton up on his offer of solace. But then George’s ex, Peter—aka Mr. Prissy Pout—has second thoughts, and while George isn’t interested in taking him back, he and Dalton are willing to share their experience—and more.
Now this one was more sexual then actually fun to me. I didn’t much care for it but then that is me. I hate to admit that I basically skimmed over the story and read parts of it. Which for me was a bad thing because it just gave me an eye of what was going on.
Free to Love by Kris T. Bethke ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts
Henry is tired of hiding their relationship, but Shane is afraid to risk losing his job and his parents by coming out as gay. When his worst fears prove true, Shane finds that life outside his parents’ repressive control is so much better than anything he could have imagined.
Parents can be just as cruel as a stranger it would seem. I felt bad for Shane but the end result rocks. I enjoyed reading this story and will definitely be checking for these guys to have a longer story in the future, with more juicy details.
Happily Ever After, After All by L.A. Merrill ♥♥♥ 3 Hearts
Once upon a time, Princess Aubergine dreamed of a fairy-tale wedding to the girl of her dreams. Things haven’t exactly worked out that way. Locked in a tower for ten years, Aubergine managed to scare off all the princes coming to rescue her. Now it’s up to her to do the rescuing—until a band of students from the local Ladies’ Academy happen upon her tower and devise a daring escape plan.
Now the story is a fantastic story, however I hate female characters so the story didn’t do anything for me. I hate to admit that I just skimmed it and didn’t really read it. When I received it I was told it was m/m or m/m/m romance so to my shock this came up and well you can guess.
The Importance of Pride by Ravon Silvius ♥♥♥♥♥4.5 Hearts
College history professor Patrick Levine is looking for a subject for a research proposal when he discovers his granduncle’s journal. To his shock, not only was Uncle Marty gay, but he’d been at the Stonewall riot in 1969. Will learning more about his uncle’s history help Patrick face his own fears about coming out?
I just can’t imagine what his uncle went through to get where we are now. It is still a fight for the LGBT to be considered equal and I fear what the future will be like. This is a very sweet story of a young man who is not out but finds out that his uncle was a true believer. I don’t know if I said any of this right, but I will tell you that this was an inspiring story.
The Insomniac Sommelier by Julie Lynn Hayes ♥♥♥♥♥ 4.5 Hearts
Kirk Westmoreland dreams of owning his own restaurant someday, but for now he fights insomnia while working at family-owned Venezia with his control-freak older brother. After work he tries to de-stress at Sweeties, a small diner run by his sister and her wife. When Kirk meets the diner’s new server, Ashley, he ends up going home with him—to the best sleep he’s had in forever. If he can’t keep his life at Sweeties compartmentalized from his life at Venezia, Kirk will have to decide which one he’s willing to give up.
I definitely can understand insomnia. This is a really cute little story if not a bit off, but was still a fun little story. I just felt like it wasn’t for me though, because there was just something missing but I couldn’t figure it out. Other than my issues, this is a cute story.
Looking for George by David C. Dawson ♥♥♥ 3 Hearts
Betty’s innocent crush on actor George Clooney became something more when he saved her from a fall at the hotel she works at in London. When she discovers her Italian holiday trip will take her only a few miles from the actor’s summer villa… well, surely fate means for them to meet again.
Now the story is a fantastic story, however I hate female characters so the story didn’t do anything for me. I hate to admit that I just skimmed it and didn’t really read it. When I received it I was told it was m/m or m/m/m romance so to my shock this came up and well you can guess.
Love Over Lotto by Jude Dunn ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts
Craig Batson and Tom Rendelle have plenty of joy together but not so much money. Determined to improve their finances, Craig borrows a library book on the secrets of winning the lottery and empties their rainy-day fund to buy dozens of lottery tickets. Tom explodes when he finds out, leaving Craig to wonder if their love can survive.
This is a very cute story however it is a bit blown out. I got a headache within the first few minutes afterwards. As for the characters, they just seem a bit off to me. Tom, who works blows at almost everything and then there is Craig who stays home and paints. They don’t really have that much going for them until the lotto. Other than those issues it is still a cute story but not really my idea of fun.
More Than His Scars by Jana Denardo ♥♥♥♥♥ 4.5 Hearts
Facing the anniversary of the day he lost his arm while serving in the Middle East, Aaron is understandably depressed. It’s up to his lover, Rhys, to plan a special day to help Aaron see how amazing he really is.
This story has many different aspects to it, if that is the word for it. On one sense it has the paranormal or fantasy seeing as Rhys and his children are not human. Then you have Aaron who is not only human but was military until his arm was taken in the war. It is a sad story with a happy tilt toit. I am afraid that no matter how good it was, it just wasn’t for me.
Overcoming Fear by Grace R. Duncan ♥♥♥♥♥5 Hearts
In the year since a global pandemic ravaged their world, Duncan has done everything he can to ease Mark’s fears of losing him. When a minister and his wife seek out Mark for help, Duncan sees an opportunity to show Mark another level of commitment—if Mark will dare to take it.
One is afraid of losing another person in his life, the other wants forever. I liked this story quite a bit, no to Christmas themed but it was a lot of fun to read. I get a kick out zombies, apocalypse and pandemic stories. This was a lot of fun and look forward to reading a bit more from this author.
Prevailing Zzz’s by Tray Ellis ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts
After eight months together, Greg wants Win to move in with him. But how can Win agree when Greg’s snoring leaves him sleep-deprived and miserable?
Let’s just say that if I had left it up to the blurb for this particular book I would have just went on past. I believe if you love someone deep enough, then their snoring is no big thing. It is a fun little book if not a bit quirky to me.
Pushing Back Oblivion by Alicia Nordwell ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts
Fighting a rapidly growing brain tumor, Cohen promises his partner, Jaime, that he’ll never give up. Through surgeries and setbacks, at times that promise and Jaime’s voice are all Cohen has to cling to.
Now this one was just a tease. It is a sweet story but way too short to get any more than a hint of what is going to happen. It went from one time, then to another, then two months after the fact that it left a good portion of the story out. Other than that it was cute.
Reluctant Valentine by Xenia Melzer ♥♥♥♥♥4.5 Hearts
A best-selling thriller novelist, Dean writes romances as a relaxing hobby. But when writer’s block strikes, sexy handyman Morgan shows up to provide all the inspiration he needs.
The first thing I have to say is I could have done without the first few lines in this story. Even if he is the author and it was just about his book, it was well gross. I hate anything female in my story and almost just put it down to skimming this book. Other than that we have an author who needs some inspiration and it comes to him in a sexy man. It is a very cute love story about finding first love. I enjoyed it quite a bit.
Taking a Chance by Renee Stevens ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts
Gabe and Toby work for the same company, Gabe in the US and Toby in London. After meeting at a convention, they spend nearly every moment of their time together, but when they both have to return home, their only option is to attempt a long-distance relationship.
This was just a teaser. Moving away from home to be with the man you love and then that is it. It is a cute little story but I sure do wish the author might make it a longer story later. I would love to see how these two do in the future.
Overall Overall some of the stories rocked, some were just stories and then of course the girly parts but the basis for the book still stands. This is to help the LGBT community and for that we need to pick up those books and start reading. Or maybe I should say we need to start buying these stories. I enjoyed reading them and was glad to have a extra from one of my favorite paranormal love stories mixed in. I would definitely recommend it.

Blurb: Nothing beats getting out of the concrete jungle and into the quiet of the forest. Website designer Scottie Ness is taking a well-deserved vacation from the grindstone, and he plans to spend it in the solitude of Washington’s Gifford Pinchot National Forest around Mt. Adams. He’s prepared for everything—except the lightning storm that traps him in a wildfire.
The firefighter who rescues him sustains serious injuries and ends up in the hospital. Jax Quintero might be abrasive, but the guy saved his life, and Scottie wants to thank him. As they spend time together during Jax’s recovery and exploring the state’s landmarks when he’s released from the hospital, Scottie discovers there’s more to Jax than a smart-ass adrenaline junkie. Jax reassesses his opinion of Scottie as an arrogant city boy who has no business in the mountains. Though Jax’s wounds prevent them from taking things as far as they’d like for a while, they can’t deny the heat building between them—and this is one fire they don’t want to put out.
States of Love: Stories of romance that span every corner of the United States.
Review: Scottie loves hiking and taking photos of nature, but he knows better than to be unprepared unfortunately not even Scottie could prepare for a lightning storm, broken tree limbs or the wildfire heading his way. Jax is miffed when his team has to search for a hiker during a wildfire, and he’s furious when he gets injured rescuing the injured hiker.
Scotty and Jax start to become close when they meet in hospital, well, after Jax softens up. Scotty visits the man who saved him often and gets to know the man under the abrasive attitude; Jax admits he might have jumped to conclusions about the man he rescued and enjoys getting to know the man, and it isn’t long before the two embark on a relationship.
This is a great story of two men meeting in dire circumstances and gradually falling in love. Scottie and Jax are great characters, they have a rocky start but quickly become an item, there’s a lot of build-up with the relationship before anything sexual happens and that’s mainly because of Jax’s knee injury but it’s lovely to see them building their relationship on friendship and really getting to know each other first.
Jax is abrasive when we first meet him, he’s fighting a wildfire and a hiker’s missing, he’s frustrated and he comes across as a complete dick but we learn quickly that it’s mainly because he’s worried for his team. Scotty is really easy going and although he did everything he could to keep himself safe during his hike he still falls victim to nature.
The setting for the story comes across vividly with great detail, the roar of the fire, the stifling heat and the fear as flames roar towards their fire shelter is described beautifully.
I recommend this to those who love men growing to love each other, who adore a touch of danger in their stories, who love men getting to know each other before they jump into bed, and a very happy ending.

After devastates earth humans try to survive the best they can. Miah has always had a goal in mind. He has no time for partying, relationships, or settling down. When his friend Keon mentions Natures Wrath, a dome where shifters can hunt humans, he is intrigued but doesn’t let it show. Later he finds an indent/ticket to the place and decides to go there.
I absolutely loved Moshe and Lisco, alien shifters. They were different from one another in their shifter forms, which I found refreshing as the things they shifted into are not normally written about it. But both were Yume. They are both attracted to Miah from the start and want to bond with him in their way but that goes horribly wrong. So they decide to get to know Miah in the human way.
I was fascinated by their history yet saddened by what happened to their race at the hands of another alien race. I was horrified that they were all but exterminated by these aliens all because they could change into any living thing.
It was a fascinating story with great details to add depth and understanding about the aliens. I did not want to give everything away so some things in the book are not mentioned in this review. I could not stop reading until the very last word and was held spellbound by descriptions of various events and technology used.
I am looking forward to seeing what else happens in this amazing series.
It was a great story that I highly recommend.

Blurb: In the distant future, humans wage war against the alien planet Caeorleia, with no tactic off-limits if it will help the humans get their hands on Caeorleia’s resources. Ask Ryker. He thought he volunteered for a simple experiment that would help his government in the war. He didn’t realize sadistic doctors would turn him into the experiment—by injecting him with blood from a captured Caeorleian, Seral Iorflas.
Nor did Ryker realize he’d be sent to sabotage a planet full of the very beings his world is battling, beings who kill humans on sight. But then, thanks to the experiment that irrevocably changed him, he isn’t exactly human any longer—and with each passing day, as his blood bond with Seral strengthens, he’s less and less sure as to whose side he’s on.
Review: Ryker thought he was signing up for a simple experiment, living for 5 years in a dome which mimic’s an M class planet’s environment to see if the planet was worth fighting for… instead he is abused and experimented on and then left on the planet to spy. Ryker is sacrificed so the scientists and the military can find a way to destroy the Caeorleiran’s and take the plant for the human’s. Now bonded to Seral Ryker has to learn to trust, as he falls for the Ceaorlerian but danger lurks as the human’s continue their war.
Well guys this is a true treat, cracking open this book was like being taken to the far reaches of space to witness a human man who has been used, abused and experimented on by his own government being taken in by an alien race and finding home. This is truly an incredible story that has a damaged hero, a determined lover, unseen danger, betrayal, a plan to end war and an unexpected rescue… I couldn’t put this book down till I’d read the last page in the wee hours with a grumpy hubby whining about having to get up for work soon.
Ryker was desperate when he spotted the ad for an ecological study, it sounded ideal but soon enough he found the truth… the scientist were sadists and his life would be changed forever. Seral was captured by the Nelhos, humans, and experimented on, the humans managed to link him to a male who is his tzui, (beloved), but Seral cannot blame his tzui for the circumstances as the male has been badly abused. These two make a wonderful couple but they have many hurdles in their relationship, the biggest being that Ryker is no longer human, but not quite Caeorleiran either. They face adversity and disbelief as they try to find a way to stop the war and the dangers don’t just come from the humans.
This is an incredibly written story, we are pulled in from the first page as we feel Ryker’s fear and pain, we follow along as Ryker learns to trust his isit, (beloved), and finds a home and family he never had. We see some brilliant surprise twists that really knock your socks off, we see some great action as Seral, and Ryker try to put an end to the human threat. There are many characters that we meet who play some great parts, the ones we love and trust, the ones who seem dodgy and sneaky and the ones who hide behind a mask until the last moment before showing their true colors. We also manage to meet two of Ryker’s fellow volunteers who will play their own parts in future stories *I can’t wait*.
I have to recommend this to those who love science fiction, brilliant storylines, wonderful characters, danger, betrayal, great settings, a great relationship with its own problems and the promise of more to come. Oh and if you are like me and want the next great story now, then head over to Alicia Nordwell’s site and take a peek at Adverse Effects Dade’s story in serial… be quick I am sure it won’t be long before it’s snapped up and taken down 🙂 .
