Blurb:  Sheriff Sam Daly, a veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, and his husband, Michael Bellomo, have made a life for themselves in sparsely populated Pine County in the Colorado mountains. Sam oversees the small sheriff’s department, and Michael sells his paintings and tourist items out of his shop, Needful Things. From the beginning, Sam has known Michael possessed gifts: the ability to see and hear things Sam cannot.

When a report of a body in a massive snow-filled depression up a mountainside sends Sam and his deputy, Digger, to investigate, Sam struggles to reconcile the existence of skinwalkers in Pine County with the world he’s familiar with. Michael, though, deals with this reality through his art, and through the mysticism he’s been gifted. Sam’s effort to discover what is happening causes him to examine his life with Michael from the time they first met. The inevitable conclusion might be that he’ll never understand the mysteries of the mountains, but for the sake of Michael and their love, he’ll have to embrace them.

Review:  When I first saw this I though spooky because let’s face it the cover is.  However once you start reading it, well the cover was right on.  Now normally as a reviewer I don’t really pay a lot of attention to that many covers unless there is just something there that grabs me.  So when that happens I know which way the book is going to go for me.  Now I have had the pleasure to read a few books by this author and let’s just say, they have you sitting on the edge of your seat.

From the moment I started reading this book my attention was caught.  Now normally I take my time reading such a long story and usually lose my attention after a point.  However this one just wouldn’t let me go.  I have heard many stories of skin walkers, an old Indian legend, mostly bad but a few were good.  However like I said most of them represented evil.  In the shape of an owl, it represents, but there is a part of him that is special. He notices something special about his man.

Michael has the abilities to see and hear things no one else can.  It is seen in his art and it will have Sam trying to deal with it.  Then when a skinwalker is found dead, it leads them on a ride that neither will forget.

I think that this is one of the best stories I have come across in a long time.  It is focused more on what is going on than on just sex.  It has a real world tone to it even though it is a paranormal story.  Although, sometimes I wonder if our stories are not true in a sense.  I really enjoyed this and look forward to more by this amazing author.  This is one story I would definitely recommend.  I hope that this author turns this into a series with these two finding more stuff to get into.

Stories drive life. Sometimes life is good; sometimes life is bad. But it’s the nature of our community that in the aftermath of an act of hatred, we respond with love. Because darkness cannot exist in the presence of light. Cruelty cannot stand against compassion. Negativity will never overcome hope.

To show our support for those affected by the Orlando shooting, our authors, editors, artists, and staff have volunteered their talents to create this anthology. All proceeds will be donated to LGBT organizations in central Florida. Join us as we celebrate the triumph of love over every obstacle.

Eighteen-year-old Joe Vasquez leaves Denver for Texas with Harley Bray, the cow kid who never fit in at their high school. In spite of discovering there’s another side to Harley’s nature—occasional “withdrawals” from roadside convenience stores, a nefarious skill he teaches Joe—Joe shares Harley’s dream of riding bulls and a life together on the Texas plains outside of Abilene. A life that will hopefully see the fulfillment of another of Joe’s dreams—to become a veterinarian.

When a rank bull kills Harley in a rodeo on Longview, Texas, Joe accepts an offer from another bull rider, Shane Thorpe, to partner up and ride the circuit together. The problem is that the blond-haired, blue-eyed Shane found Jesus a long time ago, and he’s torn between his faith and his attraction to Joe. As they make their way across Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona to their final stop on the circuit at the National Western Rodeo in Denver, Joe bides his time for what he hopes will be a relationship with Shane as fulfilling as the one he’d had with Harley. His hopes for the future, however, are challenged along the way when he discovers that his “withdrawals” have captured the attention of a dedicated Texas Ranger.

Blurb: The worth of campfire tales is that they eventually provoke truths from those telling the tales, as well as those assembled to listen.

A rite of summer brings together old Joe and his grandnieces and grandnephews to the Flat Top Wilderness of Colorado where tales are told over the warmth of a campfire. Through the telling, though, secrets emerge that will affect them all; and the magic of the night will remain them all forever.

Review: Joe keeps his great nieces and nephews each summer for a short time. He sits them around the campfire and tells them stories. Two are now teens and going through life changes and are a bit less than attentive.

I really liked this story. It is basically just a life lesson story with no real plot or action. It’s heart-warming and sweet.

If you like stories of campfire tales, life lessons, long-lasting relationship, finding courage and a lovely heart-warming, sweet story this is for you.
