Blurb: Andreas was born a Spartan warrior, long before human history even records Sparta existing. He served directly under Ares, until the day his lover was killed on the battlefield in front of him. On that day, he met his father, the mysterious Black Dragon God known as Jarel. From then on, he served his father faithfully, enforcing the laws of the primordial embodiment of black fire and father of the paranormal. Now, in these modern times, he hunts the rogue vampires and their leader. Little does he know, there’s more to this than vampires simply turning against his father.

While protecting the lovely Cassandra Odele, Andreas must battle forces he doesn’t know as he attempts to stop the resurrection of the Titan king, Cronus. Added to his problems, he now has two teenage nephews to see into adulthood. Of course, there’s always a twist when dealing with the gods, and Andreas will come face to face with his past, leaving him to decide which is more important, his soul or the world?

Review: Andreas has served his father, the Black Dragon God, for thousands of years enforcing the laws for all paranormals. When his father asks him to protect a human from the vampires little does he know what he is about to walk into, as a vampire attempts to resurrect Cronus Andreas is made guardian to his twin nephews who also become targets and with gods causing trouble Andreas past comes into play and Andreas has a choice to make, his loyalty to his father and God or his love for his soul mate.

This is a fantastic fantasy world that immerses us in the world of Gods, Goddesses and paranormals. Andreas held his lover Kazarian in his arms as he died on the battlefield among the Spartans, only to have Ares appear before him, seconds too late to save Kazarian, but not too late to save Andreas from a similar fate because he is the son of the Black Dragon God Jarel. Now in this modern age he serves his father enforcing his laws, but there is an attempt to resurrect Cronus and overthrow Zeus, and Andreas is called upon to guard a mortal and his nephews to prevent it from happening. But the conspirators play dirty trying to force Andreas to do their bidding, but they also make a mistake by showing the involvement of a god or goddess.

I really enjoyed this story of mythical gods and goddesses and the world they live in, Andreas is only one of the main characters in this book with each character bringing a bit of their own story to the table weaving together a wonderful fantasy that has veiled hints for future couples, uncovers a conspiracy and is a touch violent. This is a well written story that draws you in feeding you bits and pieces and making you long for more. There are many characters that you get to know and you begin to wonder what their stories will be. Brandon, Demun, Vic, Apollo, Adonis and Odele along with Jarel, Andreas and Kazarian make this book vastly interesting.

While we don’t get the chance to see much of Andreas and Kazarian together because of the flow of the storyline, the time they do get together is incredible and when they come together in passion it is wonderful and passionate. There’s action and danger that is well described and fits perfectly into the story, the paranormal powers aren’t overused and it actually adds more to the story because of that. Drako has created a world that I want to know more about and although I personally don’t like M/F, I will still be reading the other books in this series because I need to know what happens next with Jarel and Zeus.

I recommend this book if you love paranormal, fantasy, battles and fights, tastefully placed humour, some fantastic love making, great characters, a wonderful storyline and an ending that is happy for Andreas and Kazarian, but leaves you wanting the stories of other characters.

The Dragon Witch

(The Dragon Hunters 02)

Victoria Damone is the daughter of the Black Dragon God, Jarel, and the goddess of magic and witchcraft, Hecate. Quick tempered and impatient, she strikes fear into the hearts of the rogue creatures rebelling against her father as well as the warlocks, servants of Prince of Darkness, Lucifer.

Ares, the god of war, is often misunderstood. Known only as a brutal god with an insatiable appetite for blood and destruction, as well as passing flings, the son of Zeus and Hera has spent most of his time defending Olympus from any and every threat.

Now the two meet and must combine forces. The Titan King, Cronus, has been resurrected by Lucifer and is quickly resurrecting his brethren to launch war against Zeus and all that stand with him. Not only this, but he’s even joined forces with the legendary beast Typhon, the only creature to ever come close to toppling the Olympian god king. As the gods prepare for an unavoidable war, Victoria must hunt one of the most powerful and cunning warlocks to serve under the Prince of Darkness and simultaneously train her nephew Brandon in her craft. Her pride demands that she do this alone, but Ares is not a god to be denied. Ares clearly has his eyes on Victoria, but can she trust the notoriously wild and unpredictable god’s intentions?

Fatal Healing

(The Dragon Hunters 03)

Odele, the goddess of Healing, has returned to Olympus, once again the direct servant to Hera, queen of the gods. Yet even after the defeat of Eris, her work is not done. The war of the gods is imminent now, with Cronus restored to life and the Titans back at his side. But before the battle can begin, Odele must find her mortal twin brother, who had been captured by the forces of the vampire Kalos years before. She asks Hera for her brother’s whereabouts, and the god queen allows her to attempt to rescue him, but under the condition that she’s accompanied by Apollo.

Apollo has waited ages for Odele’s return to Olympus to heal the heart he’d broken ages before. The process of healing won’t be easy, and Odele’s heart is not the only heart to be healed. Both Apollo and Odele’s lives are at risk, as they join the god of darkness in a battles against two children of Gaea and Odele’s own brothers, Cronus and Typhon. Will Odele’s heart be healed, and most importantly, will anyone survive this unique healing process?

Heir of Mjolnir

(The Dragon Hunters 04)

The servants of Hecate have been subject to persecution for many years. They have been misunderstood, accused of worshipping the devil. And Hecate has had enough. The Devil, Lucifer, has finally invaded the human world and his true servants, warlocks, are growing bold. Lucifer’s influence has spread throughout the world and nothing is the same as it was before he came. There are those that can counter the power of the warlocks, and Hecate may have found one.

Vax King had just graduated high school when the world changed. And unlike everyone around him, he saw through the lies. The world was trapped in the spell of the father of all evil and he seemed to be the only one in the immediate area that could see it. Then again, he’s a solitary witch and no one else knows it. But he’s shocked when the goddess Hecate appears to him with a quest to gain a weapon to help fight the forces of evil. The weapon is the legendary hammer of the Norse god, Thor, Mjölnir, and if he can find this he can lead the forces of Hecate against their greatest enemy. But to gain it, he must survive the Rose realm and prove his worth. Should he fail, death is all that awaits. Can he prove to the enchanted weapon of the deceased god that he is more worthy of wielding it than the original owner, and therein become the leader of an army of witches ready and waiting to stand against Lucifer?

Relinquished Mercy

(The Dragon Hunters 05)

The heavenly war is coming to a head. The gods are ready. All that remains is the final clash between the most dominate forces of nature in existence.

Brandon has come to a decision. He can’t deny who his soul mate is. He’s the god of darkness and shadows, and his soul mate is a werewolf, Phil, the grandson of the very first werewolf. But things are never so simple. He has to get past the wolf’s insecurities in order to give them both a shot at true happiness

Demun wants to fight against his soul mate. He hates having a predetermined mate. And worse, his mate is the phoenix known to be unable to settle down. Vic, the phoenix in question, wasn’t fond of the idea either, but he’s been around enough to know that fighting against what your soul requires is pointless. He just needs a chance.

The twins lead complicated lives, as they must not only deal with their soul mates but fight alongside the Dragon Witch, Victoria, to protect their children, the new Moirae. As always, a new threat lies hidden in wait, attempting to create a monster out of god that will change the world for the worst. And it may cost them one of their own.

A king’s duty never ends, even when his kingdom changes. Vladimir Dracula is one of the most famous and misunderstood figures in all of history. One thing is true, he is a king, and he is a vampire. He is the true king and enforcer of the vampire race. Feared by all of his own kind, he is perhaps the most lethal of the Black Dragon God’s mortal born servants. At the same time, he personifies sex. None can resist his charms, save one.

Vax King is the Chosen of Hecate, the Heir of Mjolnir, and has no plans on a mate. When he’s called on to enter Fae lands, he’s surprised to find the legendary vampire there. Looking to aid the beautiful Fae, Anaya, and her soul mate, Galen, Vax must enter a world of sex of violence with only Vlad to accompany him. Here, there can be no denial, no hesitation. Only truth….and dominance.
A war is brewing in the Fae lands, as the fallen angels rise to lay claim to the power of their goddess, Verlaine and topple their higher brethren. Older than most, Vlad must accustom himself to having a soul mate, and use all his legendary power to stop the forces of darkness long believed to be controlled by him. Review: I have never read any stories by this author and I will admit that when I first started reading it, I had my misgivings about it. However the further I got into the story, lets just say I was quite shocked and very pleased.

Many years ago technology was something well known and used. That is until the gods destroyed it and killed most of those who used it. Prome finds an amulet in some ruins of old and ancient city. He just thought it was a cute trinket, but it leads him and his friends on a mighty chase.

I had trouble with the first parts of the story and the characters and was about to give up reading it. It wasn’t until I got into the middle of the book that things to a turn. I will also admit that I was thinking it was going to be Prome and Malia, which doesn’t sit with me. So when our sexy little Garbos comes into the picture, you can see the heat flowing. It takes Prome time to decided that he likes Garbos more then he did Malia, well for love anyway. His attitude towards Garbos though, had me wishing Prome would get dumped on his head. It took me some time to figure it out though. Although for a moment there, I was wondering about Pyrias. Could have made a sweet third, but the author made this story just work.

Like I said above it did take some time to get into the story but I was pleased with the ending. It also seemed like the author hinted at maybe a second book would be possible. In that case I am ready to read it. I had a lot of fun with this story and might be checking this author out a bit more in the future.

Blurb: ‘Old actors never die’ shouldn’t be literally true.

Carrington Loveless III, skim-blood vampire and senior officer of Philly’s paranormal police department, has long suspected that someone’s targeting his squad. The increasingly bizarre and dangerous entities invading their city can’t be a coincidence. So when a walking corpse spouting Oscar Wilde attacks one of his officers, Carrington’s determined to uncover the evil mind behind it all.

As a rare books librarian, Erasmus Graham thought he understood some of the stranger things in life. Sharing a life with Carrington has shown him he didn’t know the half of it. They’ve survived attack books and deadly dust bunnies together and got through mostly unscathed. Now his world and his vampire’s appear ready to collide again. Books are missing from the Rare Book collection—old tomes of magic containing dangerous summonings and necromancy. He’s certain whoever has been stalking the Seventy-Seventh is composing their end game. It’s going to take a consolidated effort from paranormal police, librarians and some not-quite-authorized civilians to head off the impending catastrophe.

Review: Carrington and Erasmus, from book three, are back in this sixth installment of the series. They are still trying to find their footing in their relationship while at the same time Carrington takes over as leader of the squad. The team are on a mission to stop the ending of the world in this showdown against good vs. evil.

I liked the cast of different paranormals withing the unit. They are each different and bring a different element to the series. Well written with drama, action, suspense and mystery this series takes the reader on a journey with the team apprehending bad guys along with getting to know the team members themselves.

Great read.

One of the unfortunate truths in life is that if someone dumps a war on your doorstep in the small hours of the morning, well, you’re kind of stuck with it. Especially if that war comes in the form of a mostly naked man and he just happens to be one of the most powerful beings in the city.

And your ex.

Another unfortunate truth: No matter how poorly things ended, you’re going to wind up scraping him up off the cement and dragging him in off your doorstep. And, of course, that’s when the real trouble begins.

Review: I have only read a couple of books by this author, and let me say that she was quite a surprise. I had not taken the chance to read the blurb of this book, so when I first started reading it, I had thought it was a m/f paranormal romance. So you can imagine my happy dance, when I turned around and grabbed the blurb for the book. I will admit that I am not a fan of the main character having previously being mated to a female. For me it just comes off a bit weird to see him go from a female to a male mate. After I realized that Rachel was in love with Sara, I actually started to like her quite a bit. She was feisty that is for sure.

Cam is the alpha wolf who had at one time been mated to a human female. His wife had been killed sometime ago, but pain like that never fades away like one would expect. He had also hidden a part of himself that he had forgotten. So you can imagine himself when he realizes a possible bonding moment with his beta, Gareth. He needs a good kick in the pants.

Gareth has been in love with his alpha for many years, but hid that part from everyone. When Cam’s wife died, he knew that Cam would forever love her and not with anyone else. That is until one sweet full moon. Now all they had to do is to fix the rest of their problems.

This story was pretty cool, but very lengthy. It just seemed that a lot of details that could have been left out to make it a good read. It didn’t keep my attention like it should have. I normally get into a book and can’t put it down, but this one did the opposite. Now like I said, I did like Rachel, but it felt like more of the book was focused on her then on our budding romance. It took away from the story itself. Also his late wife’s name was mentioned way to much to even think that it was possible for our guys to get together.

When I read a romance, I want to focus on them and the possible dangers around them. Not on other people and their desires or thoughts. Also I can’t believe Cam went from hot to cold with his lust for Gareth. It came off to fast and not really build up to it. The chemistry between the two was sweet and hot, but was not off the charts like it should have either. I will admit that while it is a very good book it is not one of those types I would read more than once. Now if the book was more about our guys then that would have probably been a bit different.

Sex is a good way for shifters to let off steam, and while their packs attack each other with accusations and lies, Alec and Mark work out their frustrations in bed. Pillow talk and shared secrets lead to a closeness neither was expecting, but when pack relations reach an all-time low, any future for them seems out of the question.

Review: Each book in the Regent’s Park Pack collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Ten years ago fresh and new to a team that was dealing with the wars, left him alone when his team was killed. The son of two of his team blamed him and came close to calling him a coward. This led him to keep his heart and soul safe from future pain. However ghosts from the past were arising as the anniversary was coming up. Letting off a bit of steam leads him to another, one from a different pack. A pack that they were fighting against.

Mark was betrayed by his alpha and beta. However being young he just wants to do right with his pack. It also leads him into more dealings with the alpha and beta, one that could cost him. A night of fun with another, leads him down a dangerous slope.

Now with this, you have two members from different packs getting closer together. You can see the heat and desire both these men have for the other. My problem is Alec is older and a bit jaded from the past. Leaving his scent on Mark makes Mark a target for his beta. Alec puts Mark in a dangerous position and is kind of callus at times. Mark also comes off a bit of an innocent throughout the story. Watching these two overcome certain obstacles was intriguing to say the least. The sex was hot and damn tempting.

I will admit the cover doesn’t really leave me wanting the book. It shows a darkness that the story does show, but doesn’t make me want to purchase the story. It is a fast-paced story that gives you excitement, danger, a bit of fun and some damn hot sexy times. The stories from this series are very catchy and fun to read. My problem was they are not really the memoriable. They didn’t stand out from so many others. The story also didn’t seem to flow with ease as it should have. Although it didn’t stop me from enjoying the characters. You could feel the passion from Mark but Alec didn’t really leave to much of an impression with me other than anger, a bit of pain and callousness. It takes a bit of time into the story to change a persons mind though.

I enjoyed reading it and look forward to reading the next story. I would definitely recommend this book.

Review: Each book in the Regent’s Park Pack collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Seb’s best friend had a rough experience at the hands of a shifter, and Seb’s loyalty was with Jared. He didn’t hate shifters like his friend, but he didn’t want to bond with one. When Jared had been bitten and bonded, it changed him, which in turn freaked Seb out just a bit. The difference in his attitude was a bit off. However it didn’t mean he didn’t want to play around a bit, but the risk of getting bonded, no way. That is until the pack doctor.

Tim wanted Seb with all his might, but he knew the human didn’t want him the same way. When trouble came from rogue shifters and the P-Pack, he would do anything he could to keep the man safe, even if it meant he had to pretend. The fake relationship soon forged into something more for them both, but Tim risked loosing his heart. Things are bound to get complicated.

You can see the heat and desire both these men have for the other. I can also see where Seb might think he would loose part of himself if he bonded with a shifter, but I can also see Tim’s mind set at the same time. Watching these two overcome certain obstacles was intriguing to say the least. The sex was hot and damn tempting. These two just seem to be made for each other.

When going for a good book I am one that usually doesn’t go for authors I don’t know or certain aspects of a story. I will admit the cover doesn’t really give me a good impression of what type of story this truly is. It is a fast-paced story that gives you excitement, danger, a bit of fun and some damn hot sexy times. I hate to admit that I didn’t even remember the first book in this series, so that was a bit of a problem for me, as it felt like I was going in half blind. However it is a story that is easily figured out and will catch you from the start.

I enjoyed reading it and look forward to reading the next story. I look forward to hearing more about a sexy shifter from the wrong pack. I would definitely recommend this book.

Blurb: Gael Peterson has spent years hiding behind the enhanced abilities he wears like a mask, even though he is an important, confident member of the FBI’s exclusive H.E.R.O. team. The hurt and betrayal of his mom’s abandonment and his father’s fists are secrets buried deep beneath the ugly scars on his face, and he doesn’t trust Jake, his new regular human partner, with any of them. In a world where those with special abilities like Gael’s are regarded as freaks and monsters, it won’t be easy for him to rely on Jake to have his back, especially when the abilities of a vulnerable nonspeaking enhanced child make that child a murder suspect.

Tempers rise and loyalties are challenged, and when the serial killer targeting the enhanced finally sets his sights on Gael, not only will Gael have to trust Jake with his secrets, he might have to trust him to save his life.

Review: Gael, an enhanced, gets a new human partner, Jake. These two definitely get off to a rocky start but when they are tasked with finding a killer of enhanced individuals they become closer even though they are no longer partners.

I found this story to be awesome. I loved that despite their fears these eventually opened up to the other which was a good thing because one of them may not survive the clutches of a killer. The killer I had figured out before I was told as some things threw up warning bells as the story progressed.

Jake was determined to help Gael as much as he could and when he was in Danger it was Jake that lead the rescue. It broke my heart at what these two have endured in their lives especially Gael. But they helped the other overcome and move on.

Derrick was adorable. I loved that Gael was able to communicate with him when no one else could. This is a fantastic addition to the series. Filled with mystery, suspense and heart stopping scenes this story will have you on the edge of your seat.

Fantastic read and highly recommended.

Home from a six-month assignment to war-torn East Asia, genetically engineered supersoldier Noah “Comet” Wu just wants to kick back, share a beer, and talk shit with his best friend, JT. But JT’s home has been shot up like a war zone, and his friend has gone missing.

Comet’s only lead is a smart-mouthed criminal he finds amid the mess. His name’s Buzz Howdy. He’s a con man and a hacker and deserves to be in jail. Or in handcuffs, at least. The only thing the two have in common is JT. Unless you count the steamy glances they’re sneaking at one another. They have those in common too. But that just makes Comet all the more wary.

Despite their mutual distrust, they’ll have to work together to rescue JT before a cyborg assassin gets to him first. Racing down a miserable stretch of road called Apocalypse Alley, they must dodge radioactive spiders, a killer Buick, and rampaging cannibals. They also try to dodge each other. Review: I loved this new couple. Don’t get me wrong I loved Kavon and Darren but at the same time I was getting bored reading about only them as the mc’s so this was refreshing.

Angel, an ex con is recruited by Darren and Rima to be an informant. His task, to infiltrate the Luschesces mafia group that recruits the talented and if they refuse, kill them. This is where he meets Matteo, the mob boss’ son.

I really enjoyed watching these two men traverse in a dangerous world they are in. Some scenes are cring worthy as Angel adjusts to his magic and is tested in his new abilities by the mob. Matt for his part is nothing like his father which I found refreshing.

All in all it was a wonderful start to new characters and new aspects.

Great read.

The Artist’s Touch

(Art Medium 01)
by

E.J. Russell

Two men haunted by more than the past.

Painter Stefan Cobbe was homeless and debt-ridden after the death of his wealthy partner, but the worst loss of all was his artistic inspiration. After two years of nothing, he’s offered patronage by an eccentric gallery owner and starts to produce again, canvas after canvas. The only problem? He can’t remember painting any of them—not one single brushstroke.

Luke Morganstern’s reputation as an art-fraud investigator is in tatters. He can’t afford to turn down any job, even a lousy one for an anonymous client who sends him after an unidentified forger in a remote cabin in Oregon. When the alleged forger turns out to be Stefan, the man he never stopped loving, Luke’s professional ethics are stretched beyond the breaking point.

As the two men take tentative steps toward reconciliation, evidence begins to mount that they’re not alone in the woods. Someone—or something—is watching. Something with sinister plans for them both. To escape, Luke must overcome his suspicions and Stefan must trust Luke with his deepest fears. Otherwise they could forfeit their relationship, their sanity—and their lives.

Publisher’s note: This is a heavily revised and significantly expanded reprint of Northern Light. The second book in the Art Medium series, Tested In Fire, is a first edition. Both are sold together in both ebook and print collections.

Review: Everything that has happened throughout the series comes to a culmination in this exciting addition to the Warlock Brothers of Havenbridge. Here we get Adrian’s POV. Not only that we also see him have to make some very hard decisions when push comes to shove as the danger escalates.

I loved Adrian’s character. Yes he is fighting his vampire side but also retains his fairy side which seems to balance him out with Thad’s help. Unfortunately that seems to be losing ground in this story. I really felt for Adrian. His transformation into what he must become to defeat the evil once and for all shocked me as I did not figure that out. I absolutely loved the twist regarding Adrian.

With the help of Allies, friends, family and his mate Adrian faces his fate head on with surprising results that I found quite pleasing. I have never enjoyed reading a series as much as I did this one. It was well written, the plots intriguing and the characters engaging. I was sad to see this series end but happy that I had the chance to read it.

I highly recommend this series to all.
