Mythology, whether classic or modern, has always taken readers on a magical ride. Mythologically Torqured, volume 2, takes those tales from days of old, or more recent history, and places a unique spin on the beloved lore.
The gods of Olympus make appearances, as do deities from Japanese, Native American, and other belief systems. With rampant sexual desires, these gods manage to slake their thirst for passions of the flesh in a rather untraditional manner… if the oral traditions passed down from generation-to-generation were at all accurate.
These eighteen stories are penned by both seasoned scribes and new authors; the anthology provides readers with the perfect opportunity to explore offerings from their favorite storytellers as well as find a new favorite or two. And, a unique perspective on the stories we enjoyed—or were forced down our throats at the hands of a sadistic English teacher or two—in our youth.
Containing M/M and F/F as well as Trans stories from authors Adrik Kemp, Alex Cohen, B.A. Tortuga, Corrine A. Silver, Darren Endymion, Drea Silvertooth, John Amory, Lazuli Jones, Logan Zachary, Lynn Townsend, Madeline Moore, Moxie Marcus, Natasja Hellenthal, Rhidian Brenig Jones, R.R. Jones, Veronica Sloane, and Yolande Kleinn, Mythologically Torqued, volume 2 is sure to have something for every penchant.

Colton’s sexuality has cost him dearly, but it also brought him to God.

There is underlying beauty in destruction….
Miah Thade, Finn Reese, and Ritchie Meyer are Resonator, an indie rock band with an edge—best friends turned rock stars, known as the Detroit 3. When Evin Rene appears in their life, none of them can deny he belongs with Rez.

Ritchie, Miah, Finn, and Evin take Resonator to a level no one anticipates. But no prosperity comes without sacrifice, and no secret stays hidden without a trail of lies. As Rez’s fame grows, so does the intensity between two of its members… as well as their potential for destruction.

Title: Feat of Clay Series: Men of London, #4 Author: Susan Mac Nicol Genre: Romantic Suspense Length: Novel (163 pages) Publisher: Boroughs Publishing (August 25th 2015) Heat Level: Moderate to Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥5 Hearts Blurb: Imprisoned and tortured, undercover cop Tate Williams will find redemption in the arms of his boyhood friend, now lover, former SAS soldier Clay Mortimer.
TWO MEN.
TORN. TORTURED. LOVED.
Though they went their separate ways, Tate Williams and Clay Mortimer have been crazy about each other since their school days. Clay went into the SAS. Tate became a cop. Neither mentioned their attraction to the other. Both sought out danger. Both found it.
Imprisoned and shot in an undercover assignment gone wrong, Tate somehow survived…and found his way back into Clay’s arms. His old friend is now the owner of an elite investigation agency and everything any man could want: patient, handsome, commanding. And Clay knows what it takes to survive. But Tate can’t bring himself to share all his secrets, nightmares that force him to rebel against everything. He finds solace from his past as a graffiti artist, a childhood passion, but his demons drive away all who might care for him.
Only when he faces that past—and learns that everyone has tasted despair—can the two men truly be brothers-in-arms…and more.
Review: Tate Williams and Clay Mortimer have been friends since they were boys. Both have always longed to be more, but feared rejection so they never admitted those feelings to one another.
When Clay gets a call that his best friend has been found shot, stabbed, seemingly tortured and left for dead, Clay decides it’s finally time to come clean about his feelings for Tate. Low and behold, the feelings are mutual. They can ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after now, cue the romantic music.
Wait; hold that thought, not so fast.
Tate is suffering from PTSD stemming from his four days in captivity. He has debilitating nightmares and flashbacks cause horrid mood swings. He loves Clay. That has never been the problem. The problem is Tate holding all the gory details of what happened during those four days inside, for fear Clay won’t understand or be able to deal with it, and it’s festering like an open wound.
Clay goes out of his way to protect his lover, to the point of suffocation. The one thing he isn’t doing is truly listening. After a series of ups and downs and Clay continuing to withdraw rather than talk about what it really is that’s bothering him, Clay finally gets to the root of the problem. But will he be able to get past the truth of what happened to Tate? And even if Clay can move forward once he knows everything, can Tate find his way out of the darkness? One thing is for sure, they can only survive it together.
I have been waiting for a very long time for Clay’s story. He’s always so secretive about his private life, and you learn why in this book. He’s accomplished, domineering and loyal to a fault, and he is exactly what Tate needs to bring him back from the edge of the cliff he’s teetering off of. I loved the chemistry these two shared, the way Clay would command Tate’s ‘full’ attention, and Tate would gladly give it.
They were sexy, passionate, damaged and committed to each other.
You also get a little page time with all the other characters we’ve come to love from the Men of London series through dinners and various, brief conversations. But there are a few new faces introduced as well.
I am especially excited to see if there will be a story in the future for Jax, I quite liked him. And with the addition of an outlet of sorts, a place for Tate to expend some energy and truly make a difference, it opens the door for some of the guys to perhaps expand their families.
One of my favorite contemporary series set in the heart of London with a variety of characters and storylines that all intersect.
Recommended to those that enjoy contemporary, passionate romances, slightly domineering alpha males and a whole lot of skin.

Title: Beneath the Palisade: Justice Series: Beneath the Palisade #3 Author: Joel Skelton Genre: Contemporary Length: Novel (298 pages) Publisher: Dreamspinner Press (13 April 2015) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥4.5 Hearts Blurb: Despite a spirited inner debate pitting right against wrong, Owen Grady is lured off a forest trail by a handsome stranger. Just as he is about to surrender to an urgent desire, Owen realizes he is making a mistake and attempts to leave, but the rejected man wrestles Owen to the ground and discloses he is a cop. Wrongly accused of sexual misconduct, Owen seeks legal help.
Ambitious young lawyer Brent Burns is a junior partner at Burns & Callahan, a law firm located within the Men’s Center in Two Harbors, Minnesota. He takes on Owen’s case, determined to prove him innocent. But Brent can’t possibly predict the obstacles on the bumpy road to an acquittal—not the least of which is an ethical taboo involving his heart, which threatens to defeat him before he ever sets foot in the courtroom.
Review: Justice is the third book in Joel Skelton’s series Beneath the Palisade. While the main story is based around different romantic couples, it is best to read this series in order. However, I’m just going to put it out there, this is my favourite book in the series.
The characters (and to some extent the writing) have come a long way since book 1. Although, in this one we are moving away from the Palisade B&B and more towards the men’s centre which was for the most part Alex and Harper’s plan to support the local [not always gay/bi] men.
We get to meet up again with Brent – who we first saw in Reliance (book 1) as Harper’s PA at the law firm in the city. Now that Harper is back practicing law, as a sort of extension to the men’s centre, Brent was invited in to be a partner to his new, small firm. It is through here that Brent meets Owen. Brent is immediately sure that Owen is innocent and will find a way to help the guy. It also should be pointed out that despite the circumstances the guys are immediately attracted to each other.
As a reader we first meet Owen when he goes experiences a horrific series of events, including physical and sexual assault. He’s now been charged with a crime that he is innocent of but is drowning, not sure what to do. Owen is a great guy. He’s a passionate music teacher and all around nice guy who is loved by students and parents alike. And that is why it is so easy to feel sympathy for Owen’s plight, feeling his desperation as the book progresses.
We don’t see the POV of other characters so much as we did in the first two stories, which I think has made this book feel a lot more meaningful, though undoubtedly the previous books had plenty of emotion. I like that we get to hear from Ian and Harper, they kind of link the story together as Brent looks on to his mentor for both professional and personal advice. Harper is a bit of a dick at one point, but I like that in the way that we get to see that this guy is human.
This is a fun and fascinating read. People that like the whole courtroom drama thing will enjoy this the most, but readers of the series, I think, will be more than happy with the addition.

Title: Living With the Fall Series: N/A Author: Hannah Thompson Genre: Science Fiction/ Other Paranormal/ Teen Fiction/Dystopian Length: Novel (254 Pages) Publisher: Harmony Ink, Dreamspinner Press (August 6, 2015) Heat Level: None Heart Rating: ♥♥♥3 Hearts Blurb: In a Dystopian future ravaged by a zombie virus, teenaged Flo dreams of becoming a hunter. Instead, he becomes infected, and while plagued by hunger, he is able to control his urges. Hoping his life can still hold some meaning, Flo agrees to travel with hunters Hulme and Dihr, and he discovers a world unlike anything he imagined.
On the continent, people are struggling to hold back the apocalypse by finding a cure to the disease, and Flo might be the key. But friendships and trust are tested as the trio crosses hostile territory and faces dangers beyond the zombie infestation.
In the end, only Flo can decide if he can live with what he’s become.
Review: This was the first book I have read by this author and was quite surprised. I wasn’t too sure what to think, however. The title caught me, but the cover had me wondering. I have to admit that I didn’t even look at the blurb for the book, so I was definitely caught off guard.
I think in my whole life I have read one book that involved zombies and maybe watched a handful of movies. This book was a surprise and very gory. The surprising part was I had fun with it. It was not something that I would have chosen if I had looked at the blurb. I was happy that I had not looked at it and gave it a chance. Although I wished it had not starred a teenager. I do not much care for characters that are that young.
Flo’s family takes care of their farm and their sheep. Sounds like a smelly job that is for sure. It is however his time to do it. He is bored out of his mind, and knowing teenagers as I do well you can guess what he does. He thinks he is a hunter of zombies when he decides to go find out who rang the bell. Although he did have a good guess who it was or I should say what it was. Thank god for Hulme getting his ass out of trouble.
The story itself is told from Flo basically. He is an adorable teenager who well acts like a teenager. I didn’t much care for Hulme though, nor did I like Dhir. They act like total asses and come off like that. However when these guys get to arguing, it is quite a blast to watch. Although to a teen or a young adult this book would be fun for them. For me it was a bit off.
I would recommend it to those who love, dark, gross, nasty creatures and a story that will definitely have you thinking. The author has an amazing talent of giving me a story that freaked me the hell out though.

Title: Disciplined Series: Prince of the City, Episode 4 New Haven Series Book 15 Author: Nicholas Bella Genre: Paranormal/Dark Erotic/Horror Length: Novel (381 pages)
Publisher: Nicholas Bella (August 12th. 2015) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥5Hearts Blurb: Théoden: My Father and Sire, King Ara is leaving New Haven this morning to embark on his campaign to take over Athens, Greece. I have no doubt that he will succeed but I am also concerned. This would be the first time since I was embraced by him that I am not by his side to see him to victory. I only hope that his army will be enough. As for the rest of my night, well, it’s time to take Dante to the next level and I’m going to have a hell of a lot of fun doing it, as will my sons.
Noel: Woke up to find that Dante is in our hands. My younger brother has no idea what’s in store for him. I’m caught between wanting to take it easy on him because I’ve been where he is, or teaching him a lesson myself for how rude he was to me when I was trying to help him out. I do know one thing, I don’t like that he and Romeo have a history. I’m going to be keeping my eye on them.
Deacon: Elijah is slowly coming on board. I think it’s because he’s realizing that this is his life now. There is no escaping, there is no going back. But there’s more to it than that. Since we’ve bonded completely, I think he’s feeling a kinship to me and our pack. We’re a family now and we look out for each other. I’m going to need him to feel that connection when we go before the Alphas and I present him as my mate. One false move on his part or mine could endanger our Pack.
Warning: This serial contains strong adult content not meant for sensitive eyes. The novelettes in this serial will be filled with dark, twisted, raunchy and steamy scenes between powerful, sexy men that will either offend you or get ya revved up. This series will not be pulling any punches, and it won’t apologize for hurting your feelings, either. You’ll find no fluff and ruffles here. The vampires are not misunderstood, hopeless romantics looking for love. The werewolves are not cute and cuddly and the dragons aren’t the ones from your childhood. This is NOT a romance.
Review:Disciplined is the 4th episode and finale of Season 3. If you’ve made it this far I would definitely say you are just as hooked and addicted as the rest of us. Nicholas closes out this season with a lot of underlying tension and unanswered questions.
Théoden – The time has come for King Ara to leave and Théoden shows us a new side that he certainly doesn’t show often, if ever. Compassion and loneliness. This will be the first time, in hundreds of years, that Théoden doesn’t have his sire close to him. Luckily, he has a full plate with his new duties as Prince and his sons and grandsons to keep him occupied. It was still a heartfelt moment seeing them off and certainly a side we haven’t seen before from Théoden.
Don’t worry because he also reminds us that he is not a pushover as he doles out punishment when Noel displeases him. One thing I’ve noticed with all the vampires is they don’t hold a grudge against each other, usually. A good blowjob administered by one of his talented sons will put Théoden in a good mood and all seems forgotten. I’ve noticed this with Marco, as well. Noel is usually good at making Marco mad several times throughout the day but give him pleasure and you can find yourself back in his good graces. I’m sure, if needed, they can pull the offence back into their memory just as quickly.
Noel – Noel has come so far in such a short time yet, he still has much to learn. When he makes his wishes known that he doesn’t want to participate in spit-swapping he realizes immediately Théoden’s displeasure. Of course, it’s too late by the time he knows he screwed up and his brothers enjoy teaching him the lesson.
Noel gets to ride along with Marco and Bruce as they fulfill their duties as Generals. When a vampire goes against the decree to embrace a human, Bruce has no leniency towards him and hands out a pretty harsh punishment. Noel not only enjoyed watching how Bruce handled the situation but he was thrilled with the power and respect they were given with their new titles.
As he demonstrates later on a shopping trip with Marco, he is really getting the hang of being in control and taking what he wants. You can’t help but laugh because you have this visual of Marco grinning from ear to ear as he sits back and watches him. He is thrilled to see this new side of Noel emerge and he lets him know he is pleased.
Dante – I’m not sure what to think about Dante. He is agreeing and cooperating with everything Théoden asks of him but is he really embracing his future or just afraid of the outcome if he doesn’t? I think it’s a little of both and time will tell as I’m sure Théoden will set many traps to test his loyalty.
Théoden doesn’t make threats that he doesn’t uphold, and he now has ownership of Dante’s mother. This scares Dante more than any kind of punishment because he knows Théoden wouldn’t hesitate to follow thru with his threats. And, hey…it’s his mama. He wants her safe and protected.
Deacon – From the moment we met Deacon we knew he was plotting something, and has plans to use Théoden to get what he wants. Unfortunately, we are not privy to the details yet so I can only imagine the destruction and mayhem this will cause. Not only do I feel like this is a dumb move on Deacon’s part but I’ve grown rather attached to him and I hate to see him plot against the Prince.
Now that the mating ritual is complete, Deacon introduces Elijah to the other alpha wolves as his mate. Here we meet some new characters who appear to be just as conniving and smart as Deacon. It will be interesting to see if they become friend or foe because as Deacon comes across as being very patient and easygoing…he is anything but. It also appears he has set his plan in motion which adds a new level of intensity to the plot.
Whether it is vampires, dragons, or wolves, we have been ensnared by them and Nicholas’ storytelling ability. As this season comes to a close, Nicholas has left us hanging on every word and craving for more. The New Haven series is full of complex and intricate characters that have many facets making this a very enjoyable and captivating read. These are not standalone episodes as they must be read in order to understand the dynamics in place.
There is hardcore and erotic dialogue that the author makes no apologies for. The sex is explosive and plentiful but that’s not all there is. There is a very intriguing plot that has many twists and turns and if you are so inclined to jump in you will be in for a thrilling ride. This is not a romance, but you will love it just the same. Nicholas is crafty and clever with his storytelling, and he uses it against us, lol, giving him the ability to capture his audience.

Title: The Cage Series: N/A Author: Catt Ford Genre: Contemporary/ BDSM Length: Novel (220 Pages) Publisher: Dreamspinner Press (July 31, 2015) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥3.5 Hearts Blurb: Welcome to The Cage, where you can share the ups and downs of a group of friends as they enjoy a rollicking adventure of sex and love in “the life.”
Being a Dom has always come naturally to Lazar Thornton, owner and operator of The Cage, a thriving adult toy store and meeting place for Lazar’s closest friends, Bran, Max, Otto, and the always flamboyant and fierce Miss Dré. But even the best of friends have different tastes in scenes—and in life.
Good-humored and laid back, but much in demand as both teacher and Dom, Lazar has always run from love. Until Ben Owen, relative newbie to the BDSM world, arrives wide-eyed and eager to learn, and Lazar wants to teach this sub everything he knows. But despite the openness needed for a Dom/sub relationship to thrive, neither discusses emotions. Feeling the sting of unrequited love, Ben isn’t as sure of his place in Lazar’s life as he wants to be. Lazar will need to read his sub’s heart as well as his mind if he truly wants to keep Ben in his life.
Review: This was the first book I have read by this author and was quite surprised. I wasn’t so sure what to think however. The title caught me, but the cover had me wondering. It comes off so innocent, but with that title you know there is going to be some heart to it. I am not really sure about the lifestyle but these guys seemed to find their homes.
I have checked into the Dom/Sub lifestyle through many books, so there is some kink that sounds fascinating where as others just plain freak me out. Lazar is one hot Dom, and he owns The Cage. It is a story that sells adult toys and a place for them to meet up. He loves to teach others everything he knows, but damn when Ben comes in things are going to change.
Ben is new to the whole scene. He wants to learn, and he wants Lazar to teach him. Things heat up with them, but Ben wonders about where Lazar’s heart is. It doesn’t really give a place where they discuss what they are feeling though. However the sex between them is enough to get me hot.
This author has always given a story that captivates you and keeps your attention. Which is exactly what it did for me. I had fun with it and look forward to telling those about it. It gave me almost everything I could want in a story. I am still not sure after reading the story, if I like the lifestyle or not, but hearing about their scenes is a mighty fun read.
I look forward to seeing what other stories this author has out.

Title: Scales Series: Shifter Rescue, #1 Author: Sean Michael Genre: Paranormal Length: Novella (50 pages) Publisher: Changeling Press LLC (August 13th 2015) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts Blurb: Sometimes life gives you something magical – if Drill can rescue a dragon that is.
The Old Tavern Club is a front for a shifter rescue organization. The BDSM club works well in keeping the owner’s true purpose secret, but when Pirou makes an unusual rescue, it might just be beyond the club’s purview. So he calls in Drill, the owner’s brother.
Drill has never even heard of a dragon shifter before, much less seen one, yet that’s exactly what the beast in the club’s basement looks like. As he works with the dragon, he finds all his instincts insisting that this is the sub he’s been looking for.
Can Drill and the dragon rescue a happy ending for themselves?
Review: This was just damn adorable. That is all I can think to call it. Yes it was sexy too, but really Az and Drill together are just damn adorable.
This was a cute and sweet little story about a dragon that was captured by slavers and rescued by a shifter organization that runs out of a BDSM club. Love that part as well. Az is young and not use to humans or their ways, so he is scared.
Drill is the owner’s brother and a wolf-bear hybrid. He takes one look at dragon Az and knows he will do anything for him. Even more so when he turns into a man.
The sexual content was lighter here for a Sean Michael book. But not any less sexy. I kind of liked how things were not rushed. Drill was willing to wait and teach Az slowly.
I really like the concept for this series. So far the first book has captured my attention and left me wanting to read more.
So I am definitely looking forward to more in this series.

Title: What No One Else Can Hear Series: N/A Author: Brynn Stein Genre: Contemporary/ Other Paranormal Length: Novel (220 Pages) Publisher: Dreamspinner Press (July 27, 2015) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥3 Hearts Blurb: Young Stevie Liston is diagnosed with autism, but is really an overwhelmed empath who mentally called out for help. Jesse McKinnon heard him in a dream from clear across the country, and that dream sent him on a six-year search to find Stevie. Once they meet, they think everything will work out and Jesse will help Stevie cope.
Stevie does improve immensely, but a disgruntled coworker of Jesse’s conspires with Stevie’s estranged but politically powerful father to keep Stevie and Jesse apart with trumped-up legal charges claiming Jesse sexually abused the boy. Jesse must watch helplessly as Stevie loses all the advances he’s made.
If it wasn’t for his growing relationship with his coworker Drew Ferguson, Jesse knows he wouldn’t have the strength to fight for his rights and Stevie’s future. Drew just might be the real thing, but with the very real possibility of serving jail time for a crime he didn’t commit, Jesse’s hopes for a future with Drew might be doomed.
Review: I have had a chance to choose this book and I have to tell you that I found it fascinating. I have only come across one other book by this author, and after hearing such good things about the story I had to grab it. At first I wasn’t too sure about it though. I am not much on long stories, or ones that are going to have me in tears. I love to read happy thoughts, but once I figured out Stevie was not what he was diagnosed but a very special young man I was caught.
To be able to hear someone from so far away is a fascinating idea. Although for Jesse it might have been a bit off. He heard Stevie in his dreams and he had to go and help him. Stevie had been told that he was autistic, but in fact was an empath. An empath feels what everyone around him is feeling, and it can be a bit much. I would imagine he felt lost and alone. It had taken him quite a bit of time to find him though.
Stevie was happy when Jesse found him, but of course his ass of a father had to make waves. He totally lied, and now Jesse is endanger of spending time in prison for something he did not do. I mean with the help of an idiot who works with him, Stevie’s father makes their lives a living hell in its own. Thank god for Drew’s help.
This author has always given a story that captivates you and keeps your attention. Which is exactly what it did for me. I had fun with it and look forward to telling those about it. It gave me almost everything I could want in a story. It however seemed off in the second half of the story. It was long winded and over done to truly love.
However for a first book by this author for me, I was fascinated with the story and look forward to seeing what else this author has in mind.

Title: Forging the Future Series: A Change of Heart, # 5 Author: Mary Calmes Genre: Paranormal/ Shapeshifter Length: Novel (200 Pages) Publisher: Dreamspinner Press (June 29, 2015) Heat Level: Moderate Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥4 Hearts Blurb: Jin Church is back where he started, alone, wandering, and uncertain of his path. It’s not by choice but by circumstance, as he remembers he’s a werepanther… but not much else. He knows one thing for sure—he needs to find the beautiful blond man who haunts his dreams.
Logan Church is trapped in a living hell. His mate is missing, his tribe is falling apart, and he’s estranged from the son he loves with all his heart. His world is unraveling without his mate by his side, and he has no one to blame but himself.
If Jin can regain his memory and Logan can overcome the threats to his leadership, then perhaps they can resume their lives. The question is: Is that what they want? Back to the same house, the same tribe, the same troubles? They can choose from various roads leading to their future… or they can forge their own path.
Review: Each book in the series A Change of Heart features our famous and absolutely gorgeous Jin and Logan. You need to start with book one in this series otherwise you will get completely lost.
I have had a chance to read many books by Mary Calmes and she is one of the best authors that I have come across in quite a while. I have my favorites and those I absolutely love, but Mary just does something to her books that is fascinating. Her characters not only have big hearts, live through hardships that could strangle a person, but they overcome it all to go on to having a wonderful life with the one they love. At first I was captivated by the title, then the cover of the book, and then I got to the blurb.
Jin is not sure of his life ahead of him. He is alone and scared, with no memory of his past. He knows one thing. He wants the one man who finds his way past the blockage that is in his head. He has a mate out there that is looking for him.
Throughout their lives they have been through hell, and the moment you start thinking it is the end think again. It had been some time since I had read the other four books so it took me a bit of time to even to get started reading this book. Don’t get me wrong it is a good story but to over drawn for me to love completely.
Logan is Jin’s mate and is not sure about their future. Jin is missing, his son is not talking to him and his whole damn tribe has lost their minds. He has to find his mate, and bring him back. He has to show him about their past and see if they can have a future together again.
To me, I would get my mate and leave. I like the little twist that this story seemed to have, or it might just be what it means to me.
I had a great time reading it and look forward to reading more by Mary. She has always given a story that captivates you and keeps your attention. Which is exactly what it did for me. I had fun with it and look forward to telling those about it. It gave me everything I could want in a story.
The only problem I have is that this story was not needed. The last book was the perfect ending and I had understood from others that it was the last story. Then to come find out this one was coming out, was not in my sight to read. It was a little too much for me to truly love, whereas the others were perfect. However with all that, the book itself is a truly fascinating story.

Title: The Long Slide Home Series: The Rainbow League #3 Author: Kate McMurray Genre: Contemporary/Sports Length: Novel (204 pages) Publisher: Dreamspinner Press (14 Aug 2015) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥5Hearts Blurb: Nate and Carlos have been the best of friends since their childhood playing baseball together in the Bronx. For the past few years, Nate’s been in love with Carlos, though he’s never acted on it and Carlos has never given any indication that he returns Nate’s feelings. Nate has finally given up, determined to move on and find someone else, especially now that Carlos has shacked up with his boyfriend, Aiden.
Carlos doesn’t understand why Nate has suddenly gotten weird, acting cold and distant at team practice for the Rainbow League. But if that’s how things are going to be, Carlos is done trying to figure Nate out. But then Aiden reveals he has a violent side, and Carlos needs his best friend’s support.
On top of that, he starts to realize his feelings for Nate might not be limited to friendship. But in the aftermath of his relationship with Aiden, and with Nate having problems of his own, the timing is all wrong to make a real relationship work.
As emotions run high, both have a hard time figuring out what is real and what is just convenient.
Review: I was really looking to reading this book and it did not disappoint. Let me give you some background: this is the third book in Kate McMurray’s wonderful series, The Rainbow League which is set around a group of friends who play in New York’s Rainbow League, playing baseball. Truthfully, the books could probably be standalone stories which focus on a different romantic couple. However, there is a lot of interaction from minor character who also become main characters in their own stories, and since I just love this series, I think it all needs to be read.
The Long Slide Home is probably the perfect example of what I was just trying to explain. The MCs of this book are Carlos and Nate, long time besties whose relationship has undergone a number of subtle changes over the last few years. Their back story was gently simmering in the back ground of books 1 and 2, which happens over the said few years.
Now Carlos and Nate have their own story and I was so damn excited to read it!
Its great meeting up with our favourite couples from the past and catching up with those guys – the characters are rich and deeply developed. Now that it’s Carlos and Nate’s time to shine they have been developed even more, despite the fact that a number of the broad facts were already known. Namely, we knew 1) Nate was falling in love with his BFF, 2) Carlos was completely oblivious and he was crushing on baseballer from another team, Aiden, who he subsequently went with, 3) Nate is very much loved by Carlos’s family, who took him in during his difficult childhood, and, 4) the guys love baseball.
All of these points that I made are looked into much further. We get to see Nate’s headspace and how he has reacted to his best friend/the man he loves being in a relationship with a man Nate could not bring himself to like.
I liked that we also got to have a peek into Nate’s past, his actual biological family and his connection with Carlos’s crazy, big and loving family. Carlos’s frame of mind is also interesting – he seems to be either in denial or completely oblivious about everything to do with his boyfriend, Aiden, and Nate. Aiden has successfully kept the friends apart for at least half the time him and Carlos together.
Sadly, it seems that it is Nate that is more heartsick and can actually see what is happening. I particularly love Nate’s character and while the violence that Carlos faces is all too in life, its Nate I have empathy for, who will do anything to save Carlos.
Interestingly, Aiden, who always came across as a smooth asshole we get to see more of. Seeing how manipulative and possessive he was to Carlos sent warning to bells to Nate, but everyone else did not seem to notice. I found that interesting but I figure that’s because the guy’s character is so slick and slimy. Part of me is somewhat interested in Aiden going through a journey of healing and treatment (I hope that isn’t too much of a spoiler).
At first there seems no end to the issues that Carlos and Nate must face both individually and together. But for me, who has seen their story bubbling along from the start, it is satisfying to finally see their story come to a head.

Title: Garron’s Gift, 2nd edition Series: Good-Time Boys 02 Author: Carol Lynne Genre: Contemporary/Cowboys/Romantic Suspense Length: Novella (91 pages) Publisher: Pride Publishing (July 14 2015) Heat Level: Explicit Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥5 Hearts Blurb: Garron Greeley thought he had it all—a great new job and the man of his dreams to call his own. When his lover Sonny sprang the idea of a commitment ceremony on him, Garron couldn’t have been happier. Except for a few men, the town seemed supportive of their relationship, and many showed up to witness their special day.
The ceremony is everything he hoped for, until an act of bigoted violence shatters Garron’s world, leaving his new husband in a pool of blood in the middle of the street. He’s left wondering if asking for everything will leave him with nothing.
Working with his new brother-in-law, Garron sets out to prove the identity of the shooter and bring him to justice. Along the way he learns that true love can have many different forms.
Reader Advisory: This book is best read in sequence as part of a series.
Publisher’s Note: This book was previously released by Totally Bound Publishing under the same title. It has been re-edited for re-release with Pride Publishing.
Review: After the shooting of Sonny on their wedding day by an unknown gunman, Garron and Rawley are doing everything they can to get the shooter. But the town is under the thumb of the shooters dad, and things are hard for Rawley.
Garron is dealing with Sonny’s moodiness and the fight for justice. He brings in a sexy friend from Chicago to help but will Nate help or cause more friction between Sonny and Garron?
There are several storylines in this book. It isn’t all about Garron and Sonny. Jeb and Rawley get a lot of attention as well and near the end we get a bit of Nate.
It’s a bit predictable, but it is superb. I loved all the suspense. I especially liked how real the healing of Sonny felt. His injury caused him to have memory loss and personality issues; he wasn’t instantly back to his old self, there was a struggle in the relationship.
I did feel this story needed to be more about Garron and Sonny since the title is Garron’s gift, but I did feel that storyline was complete even though the killer wasn’t yet brought to justice.
I really enjoyed this story, and am loving this series and the character’s being added to each account.
If you like ranchers, lawmen, gay romance, contemporary romance, suspense, and some hot man-sex, this is for you.

When Andrew went off to college on a scholarship to study photo journalism, he wound up falling in love with his Romanian roommate.
They became inseparable and wound up starting their own business together; a gay porn website where people could go and watch romantic gay porn instead of the rough and tough, or wham bam thank you man crap that was flooding the internet at that time. You are cordially invited to the wedding of Jon Connor and Ian Jones!
When I think about my guys and who I think marriage would mean the most to, I always think about Red. Growing up in foster care and spending his first twenty-five years just trying to survive, the concept of family is a dream he never thought would become a reality. He found a family with Bull, the Connors and our favorite guys in the garage, but marriage would really make him a Connor. Not just the piece of paper, but the vows in front of all their loved ones, the promise of forever…it’s everything Red deserves.
In this sequel novella to For A Reason, we follow Bull and Red through the wonderful and crazy adventure of planning a wedding. From setting a date to saying those two magical words to their surprise Irish honeymoon, we get to see how love has transformed everyone’s favorite couple. And stick around for the outtakes, Red and Bull’s marriage has had quite the impact on all the guys!
Authors Note: 50% of the proceeds will be donated to the Trevor Project, the leading national organization focused on crisis and suicide prevention efforts among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth.
Series Note: This book is not a standalone. For A Reason is a must read so you have Bull and Red’s full back story. That said, the sequence of events in this book picks up about five months after Tricking Chase (Devils Pride MC, Book #1) and I do suggest reading them in order. After this book, the two series will move forward separately.
