An animosity between him and Chip soon evolve into something much stronger than either has ever had before. This time Simon doesn’t run to save his hide but Chips. How does that work out?
This was a beautifully written, poignant story of love between two men in the 1950’s. There is comradery, lots of action, drama and a beautiful romance. I loved the little letters between the men. This story moved me in so many ways. I will warn ya, once ya start you can’t stop and have a tissue or two handy.
The only issue I had was I was deep into it and bam I turned the page to the epilogue. It ended much too soon, but I loved the end!
If you like historical romance (1950’s, bigotry, cowboys, angst, drama, and some fairly hot man-sex this is definitely for you!

Review: Graham and Jackson have been friends since childhood, though for Graham it has been much more than just friendship. They both ride the rodeo circuit and have been rodeo partners for years. One night at regionals both men were drinking heavily, they were drunk, lonely and horny and both acted on a mutual attraction. Ever since that night a year ago their relationship has been strained.
Graham is sure he is gay but every-time the action gets past kissing he panics and runs. Until one night he has a run in with one of the animal rights protestors. Kaz is young, sexy and outspoken. Kaz and Graham have a personal run in and Graham finds himself intrigued by young Kaz.
I have to say after reading the excerpt at the beginning of the book I was definitely Roped.*giggles at the pun* I can’t really say much more than I have above without spoilers. The story is character driven and I have to say I loved both Kaz and Graham.
The story is a good case of opposites attract. Two men couldn’t be much different than these two. I am a big fan of both L.A Witt and Marie Sexton. I loved how they showed the attraction immediately upon meeting with short sentences that just seem to pop. As they were describing Kaz from Graham’s view in a confrontation at a Rodeo where Kaz is protesting, after the short effective description; Graham thought…And cute. Those two words were powerful. They seemed to set the stage. It was a cue that for more to come. And boy was there more to come!
As I said, the excerpt in the beginning of the book roped me in, the powerful writing kept me tied to the story. I wasn’t able to stop once I started and the ending left me wanting more! For those of you who like to know ahead of time, I will say it was a happy for now ending. It’s not a cliff hanger; the story was beautifully resolved in a way that for me hinted that there could be much more to come. Yes, I am seriously hoping this is the beginning of a series, because I want more on Kaz and Graham and Jackson too.
For those of you wondering about the mild BDSM, it is mild, but let me tell you it’s hot and sexy. If you like a story with some hot sex, a little rope play but no real D’s or spanking, a sweet story that is also hot but not overly descriptive, A story with some twists and turns, Vegans, Animal rights Activists, and of course Cowboys, this is for you.
I highly recommend this for those of you that have been wanting to try a Male/Male romance, or like a sweet MM romance and wanted to sample a bit of the BDSM genre. This story is a good starter!

Review: We first met Grant Jarreau and Hunter Krause in book one. Grant is Gable’s former lover and Hunter is the owner of the ranch that borders Gables. Hunter and Gable are also long time friends. Everyone, including me, has preconceived notions about the type of person that Grant is. We are all about to be proven wrong.
Hunter inherited his ranch when his late father passed. He lives there and runs it with his family. It is his life. When his foreman hires Grant on as a wrangler, Hunter is less than pleased. This lying, conniving bastard left his best friend at the worst of times. Grant always ducks and runs at the first sign of trouble, and Hunter doesn’t want him around. As the days pass and Hunter gets to know the man better, he learns Grant is not what he seems. There are two sides to every story. And the overwhelming attraction he has for Grant leaves him breathless and confused.
Grant had his reasons for leaving Gable’s ranch when he did, but in order to keep his secret he lets everyone continue to assume the worst about him. Besides, he and Gable were never in love, they were just in lust. Now he finds himself actually falling for his boss, the boss that can’t stand to be in the same room with him. Fate and circumstance keep pushing these two together and soon enough a rainy day leads to some experimenting. But they have a long, hard road to travel before they can even resemble a couple. There is a lot of mystery and intrigue, and just when you think they are finally going to pull it off another bomb is dropped.
Oh how I loved this book! The romance between the two ML was realistic and electric. Hunter doesn’t turn gay overnight, he struggles with his growing feelings for Grant, and the author conveys that beautifully. They share some passionate kisses and a lot of heavy petting before they find their way to the bed, well, hayloft actually. But it’s so sexy I listened to it twice!! Hunter’s insecurities balance perfectly with Grant’s assuredness, so neither one comes across as brash or fake. And Paul Morey stepped up to narrate again, Oh yes he did! The voice he uses for Hunter is so Rhett Butler it hurts, I loved it!!
Hunter is so very “Pardon me Grant, did I leave my boots under your bed?” and you couldn’t help but cheer for him and Grant to find that balance and get their much deserved HEA. There are a lot of twists and turns in this one, but I loved the added suspense. And this is not a sequel per say, it more runs alongside Clouds and Rain than comes after. I highly recommend this book, I’m certain that reading it will be just as good as listening, if not better. I will revisit this one again, and again.
